পরম দয়ালু, পরম ক্ষমাশীল আল্লাহর নামে; হা - মীম।

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
যিনি পাপ ক্ষমা করেন, তওবা কবুল করেন, যিনি শাস্তিদানে কঠোর, শক্তিশালী। তিনি ব্যতীত কোন ইলাহ্ নাই। প্রত্যাবর্তন তাঁহারই নিকট।

The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment, the Bestower (of favours). La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), to Him is the final return.

ما يجادل في آيات الله إلا الذين كفروا فلا يغررك تقلبهم في البلاد
কেবল কাফিররাই আল্লাহর নিদর্শন সম্বন্ধে বিতর্ক করে; সুতরাং দেশে দেশে তাহাদের অবাধ বিচরণ যেন তোমাকে বিভ্রান্ত না করে।

None disputes in the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah but those who disbelieve. So let not their ability of going about here and there through the land (for their purposes) deceive you [O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, for their ultimate end will be the Fire of Hell]!

كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح والأحزاب من بعدهم ۖ وهمت كل أمة برسولهم ليأخذوه ۖ وجادلوا بالباطل ليدحضوا به الحق فأخذتهم ۖ فكيف كان عقاب
ইহাদের পূর্বে নূহের সম্প্রদায় এবং তাহাদের পরে অন্যান্য দলও অস্বীকার করিয়াছিল। প্রত্যেক সম্প্রদায় নিজ নিজ রাসূলকে আবদ্ধ করিবার অভিসন্ধি করিয়াছিল এবং উহারা অসার তর্কে লিপ্ত হইয়াছিল, উহা দ্বারা সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করিয়া দিবার জন্য। ফলে আমি উহাদেরকে পাকড়াও করিলাম এবং কত কঠোর ছিল আমার শাস্তি!

The people of Nuh (Noah) and the Confederates after them denied (their Messengers) before these; and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him, and disputed by means of falsehood to refute therewith the truth. So I seized them (with punishment), and how (terrible) was My punishment!

وكذلك حقت كلمت ربك على الذين كفروا أنهم أصحاب النار
যাহারা ‘আরশ ধারণ করিয়া আছে এবং যাহারা ইহার চতুষ্পার্শ্ব ঘিরিয়া আছে, তাহারা তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের পবিত্রতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণা করে প্রশংসার সঙ্গে এবং তাঁহার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে এবং মু’মিনদের জন্য ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করিয়া বলে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! তোমার দয়া ও জ্ঞান সর্বব্যাপী। অতএব যাহারা তওবা করে ও তোমার পথ অবলম্বন করে তুমি তাহাদেরকে ক্ষমা কর এবং জাহান্নামের শাস্তি হইতে রক্ষা কর।’

Those (angels) who bear the Throne (of Allah) and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah) (saying): "Our Lord! You comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the torment of the blazing Fire!

ربنا وأدخلهم جنات عدن التي وعدتهم ومن صلح من آبائهم وأزواجهم وذرياتهم ۚ إنك أنت العزيز الحكيم
‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! তুমি তাহাদেরকে দাখিল কর স্থায়ী জান্নাতে, যাহার প্রতিশ্রুতি তুমি তাহাদেরকে দিয়াছ এবং তাহাদের পিতামাতা, পতি - পত্নী ও সন্তান - সন্ততিদের মধ্যে যাহারা সৎকর্ম করিয়াছে তাহাদেরকেও। তুমি তো পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।

"Our Lord! And make them enter the 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them - and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

وقهم السيئات ۚ ومن تق السيئات يومئذ فقد رحمته ۚ وذلك هو الفوز العظيم
‘এবং তুমি তাহাদেরকে শাস্তি হইতে রক্ষা কর। সেই দিন তুমি যাহাকে শাস্তিহইতে রক্ষা করিবে, তাহাকে তো অনুগ্রহই করিবে; ইহাই তো মহাসাফল্য।’

"And save them from (the punishment, for what they did of) the sins, and whomsoever You save from (the punishment for what he did of) the sins (i.e. pardon him) that Day, him verily, You have taken into mercy." And that is the supreme success.

إن الذين كفروا ينادون لمقت الله أكبر من مقتكم أنفسكم إذ تدعون إلى الإيمان فتكفرون
নিশ্চয় কাফিরদেরকে উচ্চকণ্ঠে বলা হইবে, ‘তোমাদের নিজেদের প্রতি তোমাদের ক্ষোভ অপেক্ষা আল্লাহর অপ্রসন্নতা ছিল অধিক - যখন তোমাদেরকে ঈমানের প্রতি আহ্বান করা হইয়াছিল আর তোমরা তাহা অস্বীকার করিয়াছিলে।’

Those who disbelieve will be addressed (at the time of entering the Fire): "Allah's aversion was greater towards you (in the worldly life when you used to reject the Faith) than your aversion towards one another (now in the Fire of Hell, as you are now enemies to one another), when you were called to the Faith but you used to refuse."

قالوا ربنا أمتنا اثنتين وأحييتنا اثنتين فاعترفنا بذنوبنا فهل إلى خروج من سبيل
উহারা বলিবে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! তুমি আমাদেরকে প্রাণহীন অবস্থায় দুইবার রাখিয়াছ এবং দুইবার আমাদেরকে প্রাণ দিয়াছ। আমরা আমাদের অপরাধ স্বীকার করিতেছি; এখন নিষ্ক্রমণের কোন পথ মিলিবে কি?’

They will say: "Our Lord! You have made us to die twice (i.e. we were dead in the loins of our fathers and dead after our life in this world), and You have given us life twice (i.e. life when we were born and life when we are Resurrected)! Now we confess our sins, then is there any way to get out (of the Fire)?" (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi,)

ذلكم بأنه إذا دعي الله وحده كفرتم ۖ وإن يشرك به تؤمنوا ۚ فالحكم لله العلي الكبير
‘তোমাদের এই শাস্তি তো এইজন্য যে, যখন এক আল্লাহকে ডাকা হইত তখন তোমরা তাঁহাকে অস্বীকার করিতে এবং আল্লাহর শরীক স্থির করা হইলে তোমরা তাহা বিশ্বাস করিতে।’ বস্তুত সমুচ্চ মহান আল্লাহর সমস্ত কর্তৃত্ব।

(It will be said): "This is because, when Allah Alone was invoked (in worship) you disbelieved (denied), but when partners were joined to Him, you believed! So the judgement is only with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great! "

هو الذي يريكم آياته وينزل لكم من السماء رزقا ۚ وما يتذكر إلا من ينيب
তিনিই তোমাদেরকে তাঁহার নিদর্শনাবলী দেখান এবং আকাশ হইতে প্রেরণ করেন তোমাদের জন্য রিযিক, অভিমূখি ব্যাক্তিই উপদেশ গ্রহন করে।

It is He Who shows you His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and sends down (rain with which grows) provision for you from the sky. And none remembers but those who turn (to Allah in obedience and) in repentance (by begging His Pardon and by worshipping and obeying Him Alone and none else).
কে ডাক তাঁহার আনুগত্যে একনিষ্ঠ হইয়া, যদিও কাফিররা ইহা অপচন্দ করে।

So, call you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and the believers) upon (or invoke) Allah making (your) worship pure for Him (Alone) (by worshipping none but Him and by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allah's sake only and not to show off and not to set up rivals with Him in worship), however much the disbelievers (in the Oneness of Allah) may hate (it).

رفيع الدرجات ذو العرش يلقي الروح من أمره على من يشاء من عباده لينذر يوم التلاق
তিনি সমুচ্চ মর্যাদার অধিকারী, ‘আরশের অধিপতি, তিনি তাঁহার বান্দাদের মধ্যে যাহার প্রতি ইচ্ছা ওহী প্রেরণ করেন স্বীয় আদেশসহ, যাহাতে সে সতর্ক করিতে পারে কিয়ামত দিবস সম্পর্কে।

(He is Allah) Owner of High Ranks and Degrees, the Owner of the Throne. He sends the revelation by His Command to any of His slaves He wills, that he (the person who receives revelation) may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

يوم هم بارزون ۖ لا يخفى على الله منهم شيء ۚ لمن الملك اليوم ۖ لله الواحد القهار
যেদিন মানুষ বাহির হইয়া পড়িবে সেদিন আল্লাহর নিকট উহাদের কিছুই গোপন থাকিবে না। আজ কর্তৃত্ব কাহার? আল্লাহরই, যিনি এক, পরাক্রমশালী।

The Day when they will (all) come out, nothing of them will be hidden from Allah. Whose is the kingdom this Day? (Allah Himself will reply to His Question): It is Allah's the One, the Irresistible!

اليوم تجزى كل نفس بما كسبت ۚ لا ظلم اليوم ۚ إن الله سريع الحساب
উহাদেরকে সতর্ক করিয়া দাও আসন্ন দিন সম্পর্কে যখন দুঃখ - কষ্টে উহাদের প্রাণ কণ্ঠাগত হইবে। জালিমদের জন্য কোন অন্তরংগ বন্ধু নাই, যাহার সুপারিশ গ্রাহ্য হইবে এমন কোন সুপারিশকারীও নাই।

And warn them (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of the Day that is drawing near (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), when the hearts will be choking the throats, and they can neither return them (hearts) to their chests nor can they throw them out. There will be no friend, nor an intercessor for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers), who could be given heed to.
And Allah judges with truth, while those to whom they invoke besides Him, cannot judge anything. Certainly, Allah! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.

۞ أولم يسيروا في الأرض فينظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين كانوا من قبلهم ۚ كانوا هم أشد منهم قوة وآثارا في الأرض فأخذهم الله بذنوبهم وما كان لهم من الله من واق
ইহারা কি পৃথিবীতে ভ্রমণ করে না? করিলে দেখিত - ইহাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কী হইয়াছিল। পৃথিবীতে উহারা ছিল ইহাদের অপেক্ষা শক্তিতে এবং কীর্তিতে প্রবলতর। অতঃপর উহাদেরকে শাস্তি দিয়াছিলেন উহাদের অপরাধের জন্য এবং শাস্তি হইতে উহাদেরকে রক্ষা করিবার কেহ ছিল না।

Have they not travelled in the land and seen what was the end of those who were before them? They were superior to them in strength, and in the traces (which they left) in the land. But Allah seized them with punishment for their sins. And none had they to protect them from Allah.

ذلك بأنهم كانت تأتيهم رسلهم بالبينات فكفروا فأخذهم الله ۚ إنه قوي شديد العقاب
ইহা এইজন্য যে, উহাদের নিকট উহাদের রাসূলগণ নিদর্শনসহ আসিলে উহারা তাহাদেরকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করিয়াছিল। ফলে উহাদেরকে শাস্তি দিলেন। তিনি তো শক্তিশালী, শাস্তিদানে কঠোর।

That was because there came to them their Messengers with clear evidence (proofs and signs) but they disbelieved (in them). So Allah seized them (with punishment). Verily He is All-Strong, Severe in punishment.
অতঃপর মূসা আমার নিকট হইতে সত্য লইয়া উহাদের নিকট উপস্থিত হইলে উহারা বলিল, ‘মূসার সঙ্গে যাহারা ঈমান আনিয়াছে, তাহাদের পুত্র - সন্তানদেরকে হত্যা কর এবং তাহাদের নারীদেরকে জীবিত রাখ।’ কিন্তু কাফিরদের ষড়যন্ত্র ব্যর্থ হইবেই।

Then, when he brought them the Truth from Us, they said: "Kill the sons of those who believe with him and let their women live"; but the plots of disbelievers are nothing but in vain!

وقال فرعون ذروني أقتل موسى وليدع ربه ۖ إني أخاف أن يبدل دينكم أو أن يظهر في الأرض الفساد
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘আমাকে ছাড়িয়া দাও আমি মূসাকে হত্যা করি এবং সে তাহার প্রতিপালকের শরণাপন্ন হউক। আমি আশংকা করি যে, সে তোমাদের দীনের পরিবর্তন ঘটাইবে অথবা সে পৃথিবীতে বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টি করিবে।’

Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)! I fear that he may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!"

وقال موسى إني عذت بربي وربكم من كل متكبر لا يؤمن بيوم الحساب
মূসা বলিল, ‘যাহারা বিচার দিবসে বিশ্বাস করে না, সেই সকল উদ্ধত ব্যক্তি হইতে আমি আমার ও তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের শরণাপন্ন হইয়াছি।’

Musa (Moses) said: "Verily I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant who believes not in the Day of Reckoning!"

وقال رجل مؤمن من آل فرعون يكتم إيمانه أتقتلون رجلا أن يقول ربي الله وقد جاءكم بالبينات من ربكم ۖ وإن يك كاذبا فعليه كذبه ۖ وإن يك صادقا يصبكم بعض الذي يعدكم ۖ إن الله لا يهدي من هو مسرف كذاب
ফির‘আওন বংশের এক ব্যক্তি, যে ছিল এবং নিজ ঈমান গোপন রাখিত, বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি এক ব্যক্তিকে এইজন্য হত্যা করিবে যে, সে বলে, ‘আমার প্রতিপালক অথচ সে তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণসহ তোমাদের নিকট আসিয়াছে? সে মিথ্যাবাদী হইলে তাহার মিথ্যাবাদিতার জন্য সে দায়ী হইবে, আর যদি সে সত্যবাদী হয়, সে তোমাদেরকে যে শাস্তির কথা বলে, তাহার কিছু তো তোমাদের উপর আপতিত হইবেই।’ নিশ্চয় সীমালংঘনকারী ও মিথ্যাবাদীকে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন না।

And a believing man of Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith said: "Would you kill a man because he says: My Lord is Allah, and he has come to you with clear signs (proofs) from your Lord? And if he is a liar, upon him will be (the sin of) his lie; but if he is telling the truth, then some of that (calamity) wherewith he threatens you will befall on you." Verily, Allah guides not one who is a Musrif (a polytheist, or a murderer who shed blood without a right, or those who commit great sins, oppressor, transgressor), a liar!

يا قوم لكم الملك اليوم ظاهرين في الأرض فمن ينصرنا من بأس الله إن جاءنا ۚ قال فرعون ما أريكم إلا ما أرى وما أهديكم إلا سبيل الرشاد
‘হে আমার সম্প্রদায়! আজ কর্তৃত্ব তোমাদের, দেশে তোমরাই প্রবল; কিন্তু আমাদের উপর আল্লাহর শাস্তি আসিয়া পড়িলে কে আমাদেরকে সাহায্য করিবে?’ ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘আমি যাহা বুঝি, আমি তোমাদেরকে তাহাই বলিতেছি। আমি তোমাদেরকে কেবল সৎপথই দেখাইয়া থাকি।’

"O my people! Yours is the kingdom today, you being dominant in the land. But who will save us from the Torment of Allah, should it befall us?" Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "I show you only that which I see (correct), and I guide you only to the path of right policy!"

وقال الذي آمن يا قوم إني أخاف عليكم مثل يوم الأحزاب
‘যেদিন তোমরা পশ্চাৎ ফিরিয়া পলায়ন করিতে চাহিবে। আল্লাহর শাস্তি হইতে তোমাদেরকে রক্ষা করিবার কেহ থাকিবে না। যাহাকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেন তাহার জন্য কোন পথপ্রদর্শক নাই।’

A Day when you will turn your backs and flee having no protector from Allah. And whomsoever Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide.

ولقد جاءكم يوسف من قبل بالبينات فما زلتم في شك مما جاءكم به ۖ حتى إذا هلك قلتم لن يبعث الله من بعده رسولا ۚ كذلك يضل الله من هو مسرف مرتاب
পূর্বেও তোমাদের নিকট ইউসুফ আসিয়াছিল স্পষ্ট নিদর্শনসহ; কিন্তু সে তোমাদের নিকট যাহা লইয়া আসিয়াছিল তোমরা তাহাতে বারবার সন্দেহ পোষণ করিতে। পরিশেষে যখন ইউসুফের মৃত্যু হইল তখন তোমরা বলিয়াছিলে, ‘তাহার পরে আর কোন রাসূল প্রেরণ করিবেন না।’ এইভাবে বিভ্রান্ত করেন সীমালংঘনকারী সংশয়বাদীদেরকে।

And indeed Yusuf (Joseph) did come to you, in times gone by, with clear signs, but you ceased not to doubt in that which he did bring to you: till when he died you said: "No Messenger will Allah send after him." Thus Allah leaves astray him who is a Musrif (a polytheist, an oppressor, a criminal, sinner who commit great sins) and a Murtab (one who doubts Allah's Warning and His Oneness).

الذين يجادلون في آيات الله بغير سلطان أتاهم ۖ كبر مقتا عند الله وعند الذين آمنوا ۚ كذلك يطبع الله على كل قلب متكبر جبار
যাহারা নিজেদের নিকট কোন দলীল - প্রমাণ না থাকিলেও আল্লাহর নিদর্শন সম্পর্কে বিতণ্ডায় লিপ্ত হয়, তাহাদের এই কর্ম এবং মু’মিনদের দৃষ্টিতে অতিশয় ঘৃণার্হ। এইভাবে প্রত্যেক উদ্ধত ও স্বৈরাচারী ব্যক্তির হৃদয়কে মোহর করিয়া দেন।

Those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority that has come to them, it is greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (So they cannot guide themselves to the Right Path).
‘অবলম্বন আসমানে আরোহণের, যেন দেখিতে পাই মূসার ইলাহ্কে; তবে আমি তো উহাকে মিথ্যাবাদীই মনে করি।’ এইভাবে ফির‘আওনের নিকট শোভনীয় করা হইয়াছিল তাহার মন্দ কর্মকে এবং তাহাকে নিবৃত্ত করা হইয়াছিল সরল পথ হইতে এবং ফির‘আওনের ষড়যন্ত্র ব্যর্থ হইয়াছিল সম্পূর্ণরূপে।

"The ways of the heavens, and I may look upon the Ilah (God) of Musa (Moses): But verily, I think him to be a liar." Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the (Right) Path; and the plot of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) led to nothing but loss and destruction (for him).
ব্যক্তিটি বলিল, ‘হে আমার সম্প্রদায়! তোমরা আমার অনুসরণ কর, আমি তোমাদেরকে সঠিক পথে পরিচালিত করিব।

And the man who believed said: "O my people! Follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct [i.e. guide you to Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism with which Musa (Moses) has been sent].

يا قوم إنما هذه الحياة الدنيا متاع وإن الآخرة هي دار القرار
‘হে আমার সম্প্রদায়! এই পার্থিব জীবন তো অস্থায়ী উপভোগের বস্তু এবং আখিরাতই হইতেছে চিরস্থায়ী আবাস।

"O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever."

من عمل سيئة فلا يجزى إلا مثلها ۖ ومن عمل صالحا من ذكر أو أنثى وهو مؤمن فأولئك يدخلون الجنة يرزقون فيها بغير حساب
‘কেহ মন্দ কর্ম করিলে সে কেবল তাহার কর্মের অনুরূপ শাস্তিপাইবে এবং পুরুষ কিংবা নারীর মধ্যে যাহারা হইয়া সৎকর্ম করে তাহারা দাখিল হইবে জান্নাতে, সেখানে তাহাদেরকে দেওয়া হইবে অপরিমিত জীবনোপকরণ।

"Whosoever does an evil deed, will not be requited except the like thereof; and whosoever does a righteous deed, whether male or female and is a true believer (in the Oneness of Allah), such will enter Paradise, where they will be provided therein (with all things in abundance) without limit.

۞ ويا قوم ما لي أدعوكم إلى النجاة وتدعونني إلى النار
‘তোমরা আমাকে বলিতেছ আল্লাহকে অস্বীকার করিতে এবং তাঁহার সমকক্ষ দাঁড় করাইতে, যাহার সম্পর্কে আমার কোন জ্ঞান নাই; পক্ষান্তরে আমি তোমাদেরকে আহ্বান করিতেছি পরাক্রমশীল আল্লাহর দিকে।

"You invite me to disbelieve in Allah (and in His Oneness), and to join partners in worship with Him of which I have no knowledge; and I invite you to the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving!

لا جرم أنما تدعونني إليه ليس له دعوة في الدنيا ولا في الآخرة وأن مردنا إلى الله وأن المسرفين هم أصحاب النار
নিঃসন্দেহে তোমরা আমাকে আহ্বান করিতেছ এমন একজনের দিকে যে দুনিয়া ও আখিরাতে কোথাও আহ্বানযোগ্য নয়। বস্তুত আমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন তো আল্লাহর নিকট এবং সীমালংঘনকারীরাই জাহান্নামের অধিবাসী।

"No doubt you call me to (worship) one who cannot grant (me) my request (or respond to my invocation) in this world or in the Hereafter. And our return will be to Allah, and Al-Musrifun (i.e. polytheists and arrogants, those who commit great sins, the transgressors of Allah's set limits): they shall be the dwellers of the Fire!

فستذكرون ما أقول لكم ۚ وأفوض أمري إلى الله ۚ إن الله بصير بالعباد
উহাদেরকে উপস্থিত করা হয় আগুনের সম্মুখে সকাল ও সন্ধ্যায় এবং যেদিন কিয়ামত ঘটিবে সেদিন বলা হইবে, ‘ফিরআওন - সম্প্রদায়কে নিক্ষেপ কর কঠিন শাস্তিতে।’

The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon. And on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): "Cause Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!"

وإذ يتحاجون في النار فيقول الضعفاء للذين استكبروا إنا كنا لكم تبعا فهل أنتم مغنون عنا نصيبا من النار
যখন উহারা জাহান্নামে পরস্পর বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হইবে তখন দুর্বলেরা দাম্ভিকদেরকে বলিবে, ‘আমরা তো তোমাদেরই অনুসারী ছিলাম, এখন কি তোমরা আমাদের হইতে জাহান্নামের আগুনের কিয়দংশ নিবারণ করিবে?’

And, when they will dispute in the Fire, the weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Verily, we followed you: can you then take from us some portion of the Fire?"

قال الذين استكبروا إنا كل فيها إن الله قد حكم بين العباد
তাহারা বলিবে, ‘তোমাদের নিকট কি স্পষ্ট নিদর্শনসহ তোমাদের রাসূলগণ আসে নাই?’ জাহান্নামীরা বলিবে, ‘অবশ্যই আসিয়াছিল।’ প্রহরীরা বলিবে, ‘তবে তোমরাই প্রার্থনা কর; আর কাফিরদের প্রার্থনা ব্যর্থই হয়।

They will say: "Did there not come to you, your Messengers with (clear) evidence (and signs)?" They will say: "Yes." They will reply: "Then call (as you like)! And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but in vain (as it will not be answered by Allah)!"

إنا لننصر رسلنا والذين آمنوا في الحياة الدنيا ويوم يقوم الأشهاد
নিশ্চয়ই আমি আমার রাসূলদেরকে ও মু’মিনদেরকে সাহায্য করিব পার্থিব জীবনে এবং যেই দিন সাক্ষিগণ দণ্ডায়মান হইবে।

Verily, We will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) in this world's life and on the Day when the witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection) -

يوم لا ينفع الظالمين معذرتهم ۖ ولهم اللعنة ولهم سوء الدار
যেদিন জালিমদের ‘ওযর - আপত্তি কোন কাজে আসিবে না, আর উহাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে লা‘নত এবং উহাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে নিকৃষ্ট আবাস।

The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). Theirs will be the curse, and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).
অতএব তুমি ধৈর্য ধারণ কর ; নিশ্চয়ই প্রতিশ্রুতি সত্য, তুমি তোমার ত্রটির জন্য ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা কর এবং তোমার প্রতিপালকের প্রশংসা, পবিত্রতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণা কর সকাল ও সন্ধ্যায়।

So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault and glorify the praises of your Lord in the 'Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the 'Asr and Fajr prayers].

إن الذين يجادلون في آيات الله بغير سلطان أتاهم ۙ إن في صدورهم إلا كبر ما هم ببالغيه ۚ فاستعذ بالله ۖ إنه هو السميع البصير
যাহারা নিজেদের নিকট কোন দলীল না থাকিলেও আল্লাহর নিদর্শন সম্পর্কে বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হয়, উহাদের অন্তরে আছে কেবল অহংকার, যাহারা এই ব্যাপারে হইবে না। অতএব আল্লাহর শরনাপন্ন হও, তিনি তো সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বদ্রষ্টা।

Verily those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority having come to them, there is nothing else in their breasts except pride [to accept you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as a Messenger of Allah and to obey you] . They will never have it (i.e. Prophethood which Allah has bestowed upon you). So seek refuge in Allah (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم from the arrogants). Verily, it is He Who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.

لخلق السماوات والأرض أكبر من خلق الناس ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون
সমান নয় অন্ধ ও চক্ষুষ্মান এবং যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে এবং যাহারা দুষ্কৃতিপরায়ণ। তোমরা অল্পই উপদেশ গ্রহণ করিয়া থাক।

And not equal are the blind and those who see; nor are (equal) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous good deeds, and those who do evil. Little do you remember!

إن الساعة لآتية لا ريب فيها ولكن أكثر الناس لا يؤمنون
তোমাদের প্রতিপালক বলেন, ‘তোমরা আমাকে ডাক, আমি তোমাদের ডাকে সাড়া দিব। যাহারা অহংকারবশে আমার ‘ইবাদতে বিমুখ, উহারা অবশ্যই জাহান্নামে প্রবেশ করিবে লাঞ্ছিত হইয়া।’

And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islamic Monotheism) and ask Me for anything] I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness, (Islamic Monotheism)] they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!"

الله الذي جعل لكم الليل لتسكنوا فيه والنهار مبصرا ۚ إن الله لذو فضل على الناس ولكن أكثر الناس لا يشكرون
তোমাদের বিশ্রামের জন্য সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন রাত্রিকে এবং আলোকোজ্জ্বল করিয়াছেন দিবসকে। তো মানুষের প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল, কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে না।

Allah, it is He Who has made the night for you that you may rest therein and the day for you to see. Truly, Allah is full of Bounty to mankind; yet, most of mankind give no thanks.

ذلكم الله ربكم خالق كل شيء لا إله إلا هو ۖ فأنى تؤفكون
তিনিই তোমাদের প্রতিপালক, সব কিছুর স্রষ্টা; তিনি ব্যতীত কোন ইলাহ্ নাই; সুতরাং তোমাদেরকে কোথায় ফিরাইয়া নেওয়া হইতেছে?

That is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things: La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turning away (from Allah, by worshipping others instead of Him)?
আল্লাহ্ই তোমাদের জন্য পৃথিবীকে করিয়াছেন বাসোপযোগী এবং আকাশকে করিয়াছেন ছাদ এবং তিনি তোমাদের আকৃতি গঠন করিয়াছেন এবং তোমাদের আকৃতি করিয়াছেন সুন্দর এবং তোমাদেরকে দান করিয়াছেন উৎকৃষ্ট রিযিক; তিনিই তোমাদের প্রতিপালক। জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক কত মহান!।

Allah, it is He Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape and made your shapes good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord: so Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

هو الحي لا إله إلا هو فادعوه مخلصين له الدين ۗ الحمد لله رب العالمين
তিনি চিরঞ্জীব, তিনি ব্যতীত কোন ইলাহ্ নাই। সুতরাং তোমরা তাঁহাকেই ডাক, তাঁহার আনুগত্যে একনিষ্ঠ হইয়া। সকল প্রশংসা জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক আল্লাহরই।

He is the Ever Living, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He); so invoke Him making your worship pure for Him Alone (by worshipping Him Alone, and none else, and by doing righteous deeds sincerely for Allah's sake only, and not to show off, and not setting up rivals with Him in worship). All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

۞ قل إني نهيت أن أعبد الذين تدعون من دون الله لما جاءني البينات من ربي وأمرت أن أسلم لرب العالمين
বল, ‘তোমরা ব্যতীত যাহাদেরকে আহ্বান কর, তাহাদের ‘ইবাদত করিতে আমাকে নিষেধ করা হইয়াছে যখন আমার প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে আমার নিকট সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শন আসিয়াছে। এবং আমি আদিষ্ট হইয়াছি জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকট আত্মসর্মপণ করিতে।

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship besides Allah, since there have come to me evidence from my Lord; and I am commanded to submit (in Islam) to the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

هو الذي خلقكم من تراب ثم من نطفة ثم من علقة ثم يخرجكم طفلا ثم لتبلغوا أشدكم ثم لتكونوا شيوخا ۚ ومنكم من يتوفى من قبل ۖ ولتبلغوا أجلا مسمى ولعلكم تعقلون
‘তিনিই তোমাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন মৃত্তিকা হইতে, পরে রক্তবিন্দু হইতে, তারপর আলাকা হইতে, তারপর তোমাদেরকে বাহির করেন শিশুরূপে, অতঃপর যেন তোমরা উপনীত হওতোমাদের যৌবনে, তারপর হইয়া যাও বৃদ্ধ। আর তোমাদের মধ্যে কাহারও মৃত্যু ঘটে ইহার পূর্বেই! যাহাতে তোমরা নির্ধারিত কাল প্রাপ্ত হও এবং যেন তোমরা অনুধাবন করিতে পার।

It is He, Who has created you (Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah [mixed semen drops of male and female sexual discharge (i.e. Adam's offspring)] then from a clot (a piece of coagulated blood), then brings you forth as an infant, then (makes you grow) to reach the age of full strength, and afterwards to be old (men and women)- though some among you die before,- and that you reach an appointed term in order that you may understand.

هو الذي يحيي ويميت ۖ فإذا قضى أمرا فإنما يقول له كن فيكون
তুমি কি লক্ষ্য কর না উহাদেরকে যাহারা নিদর্শন সম্পর্কে বিতর্ক করে? কিভাবে উহাদেরকে বিপথগামী করা হইতেছে?’

See you not those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah? How are they turning away [from the truth, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism to the falsehood (i.e. polytheism)]?

الذين كذبوا بالكتاب وبما أرسلنا به رسلنا ۖ فسوف يعلمون
যাহারা অস্বীকার করে কিতাব ও যাহা সহ আমার রাসূলগণকে প্রেরণ করিয়াছিলাম তাহা; শীঘ্রই উহারা জানিতে পারিবে -

Those who deny the Book (this Qur'an), and that with which We sent Our Messengers (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone sincerely, and to reject all false deities and to confess resurrection after the death for recompense) they will come to know (when they will be cast into the Fire of Hell).
ব্যতীত? উহারা বলিবে, ‘উহারা তো আমাদের নিকট হইতে উধাও হইয়াছে; বস্তুত পূর্বে আমরা এমন কিছুকে আহ্বান করি নাই। এইভাবে কাফিরদেরকে বিভ্রান্ত করেন।

"Besides Allah"? They will say: "They have vanished from us: Nay, we did not invoke (worship) anything before." Thus Allah leads astray the disbelievers.

ذلكم بما كنتم تفرحون في الأرض بغير الحق وبما كنتم تمرحون
ইহা এই কারণে যে, তোমরা পৃথিবীতে অযথা উল্লাস করিতে এবং এইজন্য যে, তোমরা দম্ভ করিতে।

That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error).

ادخلوا أبواب جهنم خالدين فيها ۖ فبئس مثوى المتكبرين
সুতরাং তুমি ধৈর্য ধারণ কর। নিশ্চয় প্রতিশ্রতি সত্য। আমি উহাদেরকে যে প্রতিশ্রুতি প্রদান করি তাহার কিছু যদি তোমাকে দেখাইয়াই দেই অথবা তোমার মৃত্যু ঘটাই - উহাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন তো আমারই নিকট।

So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم); verily, the Promise of Allah is true and whether We show you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in this world) some part of what We have promised them, or We cause you to die then still it is to Us they all shall be returned.

ولقد أرسلنا رسلا من قبلك منهم من قصصنا عليك ومنهم من لم نقصص عليك ۗ وما كان لرسول أن يأتي بآية إلا بإذن الله ۚ فإذا جاء أمر الله قضي بالحق وخسر هنالك المبطلون
আমি তো তোমার পূর্বে অনেক রাসূল প্রেরণ করিয়াছিলাম। আমি তাহাদের কাহারও কাহারও কথা তোমার নিকট বিবৃত করিয়াছি এবং কাহারও কাহারও কথা তোমার নিকট বিবৃত করি নাই। অনুমতি ব্যতীত কোন নিদর্শন উপস্থিত করা কোন রাসূলের কাজ নয়। আদেশ আসিলে ন্যায়সংগতভাবে ফয়সালা হইয়া যাইবে। তখন মিথ্যাশ্রয়ীরা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হইবে।

And, indeed We have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): of some of them We have related to you their story. And of some We have not related to you their story, and it was not given to any Messenger that he should bring a sign except by the Leave of Allah. But, when comes the Commandment of Allah, the matter will be decided with truth, and the followers of falsehood will then be lost.

الله الذي جعل لكم الأنعام لتركبوا منها ومنها تأكلون
ইহাতে তোমাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে প্রচুর উপকার। তোমরা অন্তরে যাহা প্রয়োজন বোধ কর, ইহা দ্বারা যেন তাহা পূর্ণ করিতে পার, আর ইহাদের উপর ও নৌযানের উপর তোমাদেরকে বহন করা হয়।

And you have (many other) benefits from them, and that you may reach by their means a desire that is in your breasts (i.e. carry your goods, loads, etc.), and on them and on ships you are carried.
তিনি তোমাদেরকে তাঁহার নিদর্শনাবলী দেখাইয়া থাকেন। সুতরাং তোমরা কোন্ কোন্ নিদর্শনকে অস্বীকার করিবে?

And He shows you His Ayat (signs and proofs) (of His Oneness in all the above-mentioned things). Which, then of the Ayat (signs and proofs) of Allah do you deny?

أفلم يسيروا في الأرض فينظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبلهم ۚ كانوا أكثر منهم وأشد قوة وآثارا في الأرض فما أغنى عنهم ما كانوا يكسبون
উহারা কি পৃথিবীতে ভ্রমণ করে নাই ও দেখে নাই উহাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের কী পরিণাম হইয়াছিল? পৃথিবীতে তাহারা ছিল উহাদের অপেক্ষা সংখ্যায় অধিক এবং শক্তিতে ও কীর্তিতে অধিক প্রবল। তাহারা যাহা করিত তাহা তাহাদের কোন কাজে আসে নাই।

Have they not travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those before them? They were more in number than them and mightier in strength, and in the traces (they have left behind them) in the land; yet all that they used to earn availed them not.

فلما جاءتهم رسلهم بالبينات فرحوا بما عندهم من العلم وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون
উহাদের নিকট যখন স্পষ্ট নিদর্শনসহ উহাদের রাসূল আসিত তখন উহারা নিজেদের জ্ঞানের দম্ভ করিত। উহারা যাহা লইয়া ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রপকরিত তাহাই উহাদেরকে বেষ্টন করিল।

Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad (and proud) with that which they had of the knowledge (of worldly things). And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them (i.e. the punishment).

فلما رأوا بأسنا قالوا آمنا بالله وحده وكفرنا بما كنا به مشركين
উহারা যখন আমার শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করিল তখন উহাদের ঈমান উহাদের কোন উপকারে আসিল না। এই বিধান পূর্ব হইতেই তাঁহার বান্দাদের মধ্যে চলিয়া আসিতেছে এবং সেই ক্ষেত্রে কাফিররা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়।

Then their Faith (in Islamic Monotheism) could not avail them when they saw Our punishment. (Like) this has been the way of Allah in dealing with His slaves. And there the disbelievers lost utterly (when Our Torment covered them).
