بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله الذي له ما في السماوات وما في الأرض وله الحمد في الآخرة ۚ وهو الحكيم الخبير

সমস্ত প্রশংসা র, তিনিই যাঁর অধীনে রয়েছে যা - কিছু আছে মহাকাশমন্ডলীতে ও যা - কিছু আছে পৃথিবীতে, আর তাঁরই সব প্রশংসা পরলোকে। আর তিনিই পরমজ্ঞানী, পূর্ণ ওয়াকিফহান।

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All the praises and thanks be to Allah, to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. His is all the praises and thanks in the Hereafter, and He is the All-Wise, the All-Aware.

يعلم ما يلج في الأرض وما يخرج منها وما ينزل من السماء وما يعرج فيها ۚ وهو الرحيم الغفور

তিনি জানেন যা মাটির ভেতরে প্রবেশ করে আর যা তা থেকে বেরিয়ে আসে, আর যা আকাশ থেকে নেমে আসে আর যা তাতে উঠে যায়। আর তিনিই অফুরন্ত ফলদাতা, পরিত্রাণকারী।

He knows that which goes into the earth and that which comes forth from it, and that which descends from the heaven and that which ascends to it. And He is the Most Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving.

وقال الذين كفروا لا تأتينا الساعة ۖ قل بلى وربي لتأتينكم عالم الغيب ۖ لا يعزب عنه مثقال ذرة في السماوات ولا في الأرض ولا أصغر من ذلك ولا أكبر إلا في كتاب مبين

আর যারা অবিশ্বাস পোষণ করে তারা বলে - - ''ঘড়িঘন্টা আমাদের উপরে আসবে না।’’ তুমি বলো - - ''হাঁ, আমার প্রভুর কসম, এটি অবশ্যই তোমাদের উপরে এসে পড়বে, তিনি সন্বন্ধে পরিজ্ঞাত। এক অণুর ওজন পরিমাণও তাঁর থেকে লুকোনো যাবে না মহাকাশমন্ডলীতে, আর পৃথিবীতেও নয়, আর তার থেকে আরো ছোটও নেই এবং বড়ও নেই, - - বরং তা লিপিবদ্ধ রয়েছে এক সুস্পষ্ট গ্রন্থে, - -

Those who disbelieve say: "The Hour will not come to us." Say: "Yes, by my Lord, the All-Knower of the Unseen, it will come to you; not even the weight of an atom (or a small ant) or less than that or greater escapes His Knowledge in the heavens or in the earth but it is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

ليجزي الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات ۚ أولئك لهم مغفرة ورزق كريم

''যেন তিনি প্রতিদান দিতে পারেন তাদের যারা ঈমান এনেছে ও সৎকাজ করেছে । এরাই - - এদেরই জন্য রয়েছে পরিত্রাণ এবং এক সম্মানিত জীবিকা।’’

That He may recompense those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds. Those, theirs is forgiveness and Rizq Karim (generous provision, i.e. Paradise).

والذين سعوا في آياتنا معاجزين أولئك لهم عذاب من رجز أليم

আর যারা আমাদের নির্দেশাবলীকে ব্যর্থ করার প্রচেষ্টা চালায়, এরাই - - এদেরই জন্য রয়েছে এক মর্মন্তুদ দুর্দশার শাস্তি।

But those who strive against Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) to frustrate them - those, for them will be a severe painful torment.

ويرى الذين أوتوا العلم الذي أنزل إليك من ربك هو الحق ويهدي إلى صراط العزيز الحميد

আর যাদের জ্ঞান দেওয়া হয়েছে তারা দেখতে পায় যে তোমার কাছে তোমার প্রভুর কাছ থেকে যা অবতারণ করা হয়েছে তাই সত্য, আর তা পরিচালিত করে মহাশক্তিশালী পরম প্রশংসিতের পথে।

And those who have been given knowledge see that what is revealed to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from your Lord is the truth, and that it guides to the Path of the Exalted in Might, Owner of all praise.

وقال الذين كفروا هل ندلكم على رجل ينبئكم إذا مزقتم كل ممزق إنكم لفي خلق جديد

আর যারা অবিশ্বাস করে তারা বলে - - ''আমরা কি তোমাদের সন্ধান দেব এমন এক ব্যক্তির যে তোমাদের জানায় যে যখন তোমরা চুরমার হয়ে গেছো পুরোপুরি চূর্ণবিচূর্ণ অবস্থায়, তখনও তোমরা কিন্তু নতুন সৃষ্টি লাভ করবে?

Those who disbelieve say: "Shall we direct you to a man (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) who will tell you (that) when you have become fully disintegrated into dust with full dispersion, then you will be created (again) anew?"

أفترى على الله كذبا أم به جنة ۗ بل الذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة في العذاب والضلال البعيد

''সে র বিরুদ্ধে হয় মিথ্যা রচনা করেছে, নয়তো তার মধ্যে রয়েছে জিনভূত।’’ বস্তুতঃ যারা পরকালে বিশ্বাস করে না তারা আছে শাস্তিতে ও সুদূরপ্রসারী বিভ্রান্তিতে।

Has he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) invented a lie against Allah, or is there a madness in him? Nay, but those who disbelieve in the Hereafter are (themselves) in a torment, and in far error.

أفلم يروا إلى ما بين أيديهم وما خلفهم من السماء والأرض ۚ إن نشأ نخسف بهم الأرض أو نسقط عليهم كسفا من السماء ۚ إن في ذلك لآية لكل عبد منيب

তারা কি তবে দেখে না তাদের সামনে কী রয়েছে আর কী রয়েছে তাদের পেছনে - - মহাকাশে ও পৃথিবীতে। আমরা যদি চাইতাম তবে তাদের সঙ্গে পৃথিবীকে ধসিয়ে দিতাম, অথবা তাদের উপরে আকাশ থেকে একটি চাঙড় ফেলে দিতাম। নিঃসন্দেহ এতে তো এক নিদর্শন রয়েছে প্রত্যাবৃত প্রত্যেক বান্দার জন্য।

See they not what is before them and what is behind them, of the heaven and the earth? If We will, We shall sink the earth with them, or cause a piece of the heaven to fall upon them. Verily, in this is a sign for every slave who turns to Allah in repentance (i.e. the one who believes in the Oneness of Allah and performs deeds of His obedience and always begs His Pardon).

۞ ولقد آتينا داوود منا فضلا ۖ يا جبال أوبي معه والطير ۖ وألنا له الحديد

আর আমরা নিশ্চয়ই দাউদকে আমাদের কাছ থেকে দিয়েছিলাম করুণাভান্ডার। ''হে পাহাড়গুলো! তাঁর সঙ্গে একমুখো হও, আর পাখীরাও।’’ আর লোহাকেও আমরা তাঁর জন্য গলিয়েছিলাম,

And indeed We bestowed grace on Dawud (David) from Us (saying): "O you mountains. Glorify (Allah) with him! And you birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him."

أن اعمل سابغات وقدر في السرد ۖ واعملوا صالحا ۖ إني بما تعملون بصير

এই বলে - - ''তুমি চওড়া বর্ম তৈরি কর, আর আংটাসমূহে যথাযথ পরিমাপ দাও, আর তোমরা সৎকর্ম কর। নিঃসন্দেহ তোমরা যা করছ আমি তার সম্যক দ্রষ্টা।’’

Saying: "Make you perfect coats of mail, and balance well the rings of chain armour, and work you (men) righteousness. Truly, I am All-Seer of what you do."

ولسليمان الريح غدوها شهر ورواحها شهر ۖ وأسلنا له عين القطر ۖ ومن الجن من يعمل بين يديه بإذن ربه ۖ ومن يزغ منهم عن أمرنا نذقه من عذاب السعير

আর সুলাইমানের জন্য বায়ূপ্রবাহ। এর সকালবেলাকার গতি একমাস এবং এর বিকেলবেলার গতি একমাস, আর আমরা তার জন্য তামার নদী বইয়ে দিয়েছিলাম। আর তাদের মধ্যের যে কেউ আমাদের নির্দেশ থেকে সরে যেত তাকে আমরা আস্বাদন করাতাম জ্বলন্ত আগুনের শাস্তি থেকে।

And to Solomon (We subjected) the wind, its morning (stride from sunrise till midnoon) was a month's (journey), and its afternoon (stride from the midday decline of the sun to sunset) was a month's (journey i.e. in one day he could travel two months' (journey). And We caused a fount of (molten) brass to flow for him, and there were jinn that worked in front of him, by the Leave of his Lord. And whosoever of them turned aside from Our Command, We shall cause him to taste of the torment of the blazing Fire.

يعملون له ما يشاء من محاريب وتماثيل وجفان كالجواب وقدور راسيات ۚ اعملوا آل داوود شكرا ۚ وقليل من عبادي الشكور

তারা তাঁর জন্য তৈরি করত যা তিনি চাইতেন, যথা দুর্গপ্রাসাদ ও ভাস্কর্য - প্রতিমূর্তি, আর গামলার ন্যায় থালা, আর অনড় - হয়ে - বসা ডেগ। ''হে দাউদের পরিবার! কৃতজ্ঞতার সাথে কাজ করে যাও।’’ আর আমার বান্দাদের মধ্যে অল্পকয়জনই কৃতজ্ঞ।

They worked for him as he desired, (making) high rooms, images, basins as large as reservoirs, and (cooking) cauldrons fixed (in their places). "Work you, O family of Dawud (David), with thanks!" But few of My slaves are grateful.

فلما قضينا عليه الموت ما دلهم على موته إلا دابة الأرض تأكل منسأته ۖ فلما خر تبينت الجن أن لو كانوا يعلمون الغيب ما لبثوا في العذاب المهين

তারপর যখন আমরা তাঁর প্রতি মৃত্যুবিধান করেছিলাম তখন কিছুই তাদের কাছে তাঁর মৃত্যু সন্বন্ধে জানতে দেয় নি শুধু এক মাটির কীট ব্যতীত, সে খেয়ে ফেলেছিল তাঁর শাঁস। তারপর যখন তার পতন ঘটল তখন জিনেরা পরিস্কারভাবে বুঝলো যে যদি তারা অদৃশ্যটা জানতো তাহলে তারা লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক শাস্তিতে অবস্থান করত না।

Then when We decreed death for him [Sulaiman (Solomon)], nothing them (jinn) of his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his stick. So when he fell down, the jinn saw clearly that if they had known the Unseen, they would not have stayed in the humiliating torment.

لقد كان لسبإ في مسكنهم آية ۖ جنتان عن يمين وشمال ۖ كلوا من رزق ربكم واشكروا له ۚ بلدة طيبة ورب غفور

সাবা’র জন্য তাদের বাসভূমিতে নিশ্চয়ই একটি নিদর্শন ছিল - - দুইটি বাগান, ডান দিকে ও বাঁয়ে। ''তোমাদের প্রভুর রিযেক থেকে আহার করো ও তাঁর প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করো। এক উৎকৃষ্ট ভূখন্ড এবং একজন পরিত্রাণকারী প্রভু।

Indeed there was for Saba' (Sheba) a sign in their dwelling-place - two gardens on the right hand and on the left; (and it was said to them:) "Eat of the provision of your Lord, and be grateful to Him." A fair land and an Oft-Forgiving Lord!

فأعرضوا فأرسلنا عليهم سيل العرم وبدلناهم بجنتيهم جنتين ذواتي أكل خمط وأثل وشيء من سدر قليل

কিন্তু তারা বিমুখ হয়েছিল, তাই আমরা তাদের উপরে পাঠিয়েছিলাম আল্ - আরিমের বন্যা, আর তাদের জন্য আমরা বদলে দিয়েছিলাম তাদের দুই বাগানের স্থলে দুই বাগান যাতে ফলে বিস্বাদ ফলমূল আর ঝোপঝাড় ও কিছু - কিছু বন্যফল।

But they turned away (from the obedience of Allah), so We sent against them Sail Al-'Arim (flood released from the dam), and We converted their two gardens into gardens producing bitter bad fruit, and tamarisks, and some few lote-trees.

ذلك جزيناهم بما كفروا ۖ وهل نجازي إلا الكفور

এইটিই আমরা তাদের প্রতিদান দিয়েছিলাম যেহেতু তারা অবিশ্বাস করেছিল। আর আমরা কি প্রাপ্য শোধ করি অকৃতজ্ঞদের ব্যতীত।

Like this We requited them because they were ungrateful disbelievers. And never do We requite in such a way except those who are ungrateful (disbelievers).

وجعلنا بينهم وبين القرى التي باركنا فيها قرى ظاهرة وقدرنا فيها السير ۖ سيروا فيها ليالي وأياما آمنين

আর তাদের ও সেই শহরগুলোর যাতে আমরা অনুগ্রহ অর্পণ করেছিলাম, তাদের মাঝে আমরা স্থাপন করেছিলাম দৃশ্যমান জনবসতি, আর তাদের মধ্যে ভ্রমণস্তর ঠিক করে দিয়েছিলাম, - - ''তোমরা এসবে রাতে ও দিনে নিরাপদে পরিভ্রমণ কর।’’

And We placed, between them and the towns which We had blessed, towns easy to be seen, and We made the stages (of journey) between them easy (saying): "Travel in them safely both by night and day."

فقالوا ربنا باعد بين أسفارنا وظلموا أنفسهم فجعلناهم أحاديث ومزقناهم كل ممزق ۚ إن في ذلك لآيات لكل صبار شكور

কিন্তু তারা বললে - - ''আমাদের প্রভু! আমাদের পর্যটন - স্তরগুলোর মধ্যে দূরত্ব বাড়িয়ে দাও।’’ আর তাদের নিজেদেরই প্রতি তারা অন্যায় করেছিল, ফলে আমরা তাদের বানিয়েছিলাম কাহিনীর বিষয়বস্তু, আর আমরা তাদের ভেঙ্গেচুরে দিয়েছিলাম পুরোপুরি চুরমার করে। নিঃসন্দেহ এতে তো নিদর্শনসমূহ রয়েছে প্রত্যেক অধ্যবসায়ী কৃতজ্ঞের জন্য।

But they said: "Our Lord! Make the stages between our journey longer," and they wronged themselves; so We made them as tales (in the land), and We dispersed them all totally. Verily, in this are indeed signs for every steadfast, grateful (person).

ولقد صدق عليهم إبليس ظنه فاتبعوه إلا فريقا من المؤمنين

আর ইবলিস নিশ্চয়ই তার অনুমানকে সঠিক ঠাওরেছিল, কেননা মুমিনদের একটি দল ব্যতীত তারা তার অনুসরণ করেছিল।

And indeed Iblis (Satan) did prove true his thought about them: and they followed him, all except a group of true believers (in the Oneness of Allah).

وما كان له عليهم من سلطان إلا لنعلم من يؤمن بالآخرة ممن هو منها في شك ۗ وربك على كل شيء حفيظ

কিন্তু তাদের উপরে আধিপত্যের কোনো অস্তিত্ব তার জন্য নেই এই ব্যতীত যে আমরা যেন জানতে পারি তাকে যে পরকালে বিশ্বাস করে তার থেকে যে সে - সন্বন্ধে সন্দেহের মধ্যে রয়েছে। আর তোমার প্রভু সব - কিছুর উপরে হেফাজতকারী।

And he (Iblis - Satan) had no authority over them, - except that We might test him who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt about it. And your Lord is a Hafiz (Watchful) over everything. (All-Knower of everything i.e. He keeps record of every person as regards deeds, and then He will reward them accordingly).

قل ادعوا الذين زعمتم من دون الله ۖ لا يملكون مثقال ذرة في السماوات ولا في الأرض وما لهم فيهما من شرك وما له منهم من ظهير

তুমি বলো - - ''কে বাদ দিয়ে যাদের তোমরা কল্পনা করেছ তাদের ডাকো, তারা অণুর পরিমাপেও কোনো ক্ষমতা রাখে না মহাকাশমন্ডলীতে আর পৃথিবীতেও নয়, আর তাদের জন্য এই দুইয়ের মধ্যে কোনো একটা শরিকানাও নেই, আর তাদের মধ্যে থেকে তার জন্য কোনো পৃষ্ঠপোষকতাও নেই।’’

Say: (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to polytheists, pagans) "Call upon those whom you assert (to be associate gods) besides Allah, they possess not even an atom's (or a small ant's) weight either in the heavens or on the earth, nor have they any share in either, nor there is for Him any supporter from among them.

ولا تنفع الشفاعة عنده إلا لمن أذن له ۚ حتى إذا فزع عن قلوبهم قالوا ماذا قال ربكم ۖ قالوا الحق ۖ وهو العلي الكبير

আর তাঁর কাছে সুপারিশে কোনো সুফল দেবে না, তার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যতীত যাকে তিনি অনুমতি দিয়েছেন, যে পর্যন্ত না তাদের অন্তর থেকে ভয় - ভাবনা দূর হয়ে যাবে, তারা বলবে - - ''কি সেটা যা তোমাদের প্রভু বলেছিলেন?’’ তারা বলবে - - ''সত্য। আর তিনিই মহোচ্চ, মহামহিম।’’

Intercession with Him profits not except for him whom He permits. So much so that when fear is banished from their (angels') hearts, they (angels) say: "What is it that your Lord has said?" They say: "The truth. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."

۞ قل من يرزقكم من السماوات والأرض ۖ قل الله ۖ وإنا أو إياكم لعلى هدى أو في ضلال مبين

বলো - - ''কে তোমাদের রিষেক দান করেন মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবী থেকে?’’ তুমি বলে দাও - - ''। আর নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা অথবা তোমরা নিশ্চয়ই সঠিক পথে রয়েছি, নয়তো স্পষ্ট বিভ্রান্তিতে আছি।’’

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to polytheists, pagans) "Who gives you provision from the heavens and the earth?" Say: "Allah. And verily, (either) we or you are rightly guided or in plain error."

قل لا تسألون عما أجرمنا ولا نسأل عما تعملون

বলো - - ''তোমাদের জবাবদিহি করতে হবে না আমরা যা অপরাধ করেছি সেজন্য, আর আমাদেরও জবাবদিহি করতে হবে না তোমরা যা কর সে - সন্বন্ধে।

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to polytheists, pagans) "You will not be asked about our sins, nor shall we be asked of what you do."

قل يجمع بيننا ربنا ثم يفتح بيننا بالحق وهو الفتاح العليم

তুমি বলো - - ''আমাদের প্রভু আমাদের পরস্পরের সঙ্গে সমবেত করবেন, তারপর তিনি আমাদের মধ্যে মীমাংসা করবেন ন্যায়ের সাথে। আর তিনিই শ্রেষ্ঠ বিচাকর, পরমজ্ঞানী।’’

Say: "Our Lord will assemble us all together (on the Day of Resurrection), then He will judge between us with truth. And He is the Just Judge, the All-Knower of the true state of affairs [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]

قل أروني الذين ألحقتم به شركاء ۖ كلا ۚ بل هو الله العزيز الحكيم

তুমি বলো - - ''আমাকে তাদের দেখাও যাদের তোমরা তাঁর সঙ্গে অংশী স্থির করেছ। কখনও না! বরং তিনিই - - মহাশক্তিশালী, পরমজ্ঞানী।’’

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to polytheists and pagans): "Show me those whom you have joined with Him as partners. Nay (there are not at all any partners with Him)! But He is Allah (Alone), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

وما أرسلناك إلا كافة للناس بشيرا ونذيرا ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون

আর আমরা তোমাকে পাঠাই নি সমগ্র মানবজাতির জন্য সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপে ভিন্ন, কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোকেই জানে না।

And We have not sent you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) except as a giver of glad tidings and a warner to all mankind, but most of men know not.

ويقولون متى هذا الوعد إن كنتم صادقين

আর তারা বলে - - ''কখন এই ওয়াদা হবে, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হও?’’

And they say: "When is this promise (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) if you are truthful?"

قل لكم ميعاد يوم لا تستأخرون عنه ساعة ولا تستقدمون

তুমি বলো - - ''তোমাদের জন্য একটি দিনের মেয়াদ ধার্য রয়েছে যা থেকে তোমরা এক ঘড়ির জন্যেও পিছিয়ে থাকতে পারবে না, আর এগিয়েও আসতে পারবে না!’’

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "The appointment to you is for a Day, which you cannot put back for an hour (or a moment) nor put forward."

وقال الذين كفروا لن نؤمن بهذا القرآن ولا بالذي بين يديه ۗ ولو ترى إذ الظالمون موقوفون عند ربهم يرجع بعضهم إلى بعض القول يقول الذين استضعفوا للذين استكبروا لولا أنتم لكنا مؤمنين

আর যারা অবিশ্বাস করে তারা বলে - - ''আমরা কিছুতেই এই কুরআনে বিশ্বাস করব না, আর এর আগে যা রয়েছে তাতেও না।’’ আর তুমি যদি দেখতে যখন অন্যায়াচারীদের দাঁড় করানো হবে তাদের প্রভুর সামনে! তাদের কেউ কেউ অপরদের প্রতি বাক্যবান ফিরিয়ে দিতে থাকবে! যাদের দুর্বল করা হয়েছিল তারা তখন বলবে তাদের যারা মাতব্বরি করেছিল - - ''তোমাদের জন্য না হলে আমরা নিশ্চয়ই হতাম।’’

And those who disbelieve say: "We believe not in this Qur'an nor in that which was before it." But if you could see when the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) will be made to stand before their Lord, how they will cast the (blaming) word one to another! Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Had it not been for you, we should certainly have been believers!"

قال الذين استكبروا للذين استضعفوا أنحن صددناكم عن الهدى بعد إذ جاءكم ۖ بل كنتم مجرمين

যারা মাতব্বরি করেছিল তারা বলবে তাদের যাদের দুর্বল করা হয়েছিল - - ''আমরা কি তোমাদের বাধা দিয়েছিলাম পথনির্দেশ থেকে এটি তোমাদের কাছে আসার পরে? বরং তোমারই তো ছিলে অপরাধী?’’

And those who were arrogant will say to those who were deemed weak: "Did we keep you back from guidance after it had come to you? Nay, but you were Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, disbelievers, criminals)."

وقال الذين استضعفوا للذين استكبروا بل مكر الليل والنهار إذ تأمروننا أن نكفر بالله ونجعل له أندادا ۚ وأسروا الندامة لما رأوا العذاب وجعلنا الأغلال في أعناق الذين كفروا ۚ هل يجزون إلا ما كانوا يعملون

আর যাদের দুর্বল করা হয়েছিল তারা বলবে তাদের যারা গর্ব করছিল - - ''বস্তুত রাত ও দিনের চক্রান্ত, যখন তোমরা আমাদের হুকুম করতে যেন আমরা কে অবিশ্বাস করি এবং তাঁর সঙ্গে অংশী স্থাপন করি।’’ আর তারা যখন শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করবে তখন তারা আফসোসে আকুল হবে। আর যারা অবিশ্বাস পোষণ করত তাদের গলায় আমরা শিকল পরাব। তাদের কি প্রতিদান দেওয়া হচ্ছে তারা যা করে চলেছিল তা ছাড়া অন্য কিছু দিয়ে।

Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Nay, but it was your plotting by night and day: when you ordered us to disbelieve in Allah and set up rivals to Him!" And each of them (parties) will conceal their own regrets (for disobeying Allah during this worldly life), when they behold the torment. And We shall put iron collars round the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they requited aught except what they used to do?

وما أرسلنا في قرية من نذير إلا قال مترفوها إنا بما أرسلتم به كافرون

আর আমরা কোনো জনপদে সতর্ককারীদের কাউকেও পাঠাই নি যার বিত্তবান লোকেরা না বলেছে - - ''নিঃসন্দেহ তোমাদের যা দিয়ে পাঠানো হয়েছে তাতে আমরা অবিশ্বাসী!’’

And We did not send a warner to a township but those who were given the worldly wealth and luxuries among them said: "We believe not in the (Message) with which you have been sent."

আর তারা বলত - - ''আমরা ধনসম্পত্তি ও সন্তানসন্ততিতে সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ, সুতরাং আমরা তো শাস্তি পাবার পাত্র নই।’’

And they say: "We are more in wealth and in children, and we are not going to be punished."

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Verily, my Lord enlarges the provision to whom He wills and restricts, but most men know not."

وما أموالكم ولا أولادكم بالتي تقربكم عندنا زلفى إلا من آمن وعمل صالحا فأولئك لهم جزاء الضعف بما عملوا وهم في الغرفات آمنون

আর না তোমাদের ধনদৌলত ও না তোমাদের সন্তানসন্ততি এমন জিনিস যা আমাদের কাছে তোমাদের মর্যাদায় নৈকট্য দেবে, বরং যে ঈমান এনেছে ও সৎকাজ করেছে। সুতরাং এরাই - - এদেরই জন্য রয়েছে দ্বিগুণ পুরস্কার যা তারা করেছে সেজন্য, আর তারা বাগান - বাড়িতে নিরাপদে রইবে।

And it is not your wealth, nor your children that bring you nearer to Us (i.e. please Allah), but only he who believes (in the Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds (will please Us); as for such, there will be twofold reward for what they did, and they will reside in the high dwellings (Paradise) in peace and security.

পক্ষান্তরে যারা আমাদের নির্দেশাবলীর বিরুদ্ধাচরণে প্রচেষ্টা চালায় এদেরই হাজির করা হবে শাস্তির মাঝে।

And those who strive against Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), to frustrate them, they will be brought to the torment.

বলো, ''নিঃসন্দেহ আমার প্রভু জীবিকা বাড়িয়ে দেন তাঁর বান্দাদের মধ্যের যার জন্য তিনি ইচ্ছা করেন, আর তার জন্য সীমিতও করেন। আর যা - কিছু তোমরা ব্যয় কর তিনি তো তার প্রতিদান দেন, কেননা তিনিই জীবিকাদাতাদের মধ্যে সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ।’’

Say: "Truly, my Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and (also) restricts (it) for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah's Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers."

ويوم يحشرهم جميعا ثم يقول للملائكة أهؤلاء إياكم كانوا يعبدون

আর সেইদিন তিনি তাদের একত্রিত করবেন সমবেতভাবে, তখন তিনি ফিরিশ্তাদের বলবেন - - ''এরাই কি তোমাদের পূজা করে থাকতো?’’

And (remember) the Day when He will gather them all together, then He will say to the angels: "Was it you that these people used to worship?"

তারা বলবে - - ''তোমারই মহিমা হোক! তুমিই আমাদের মনিব, তারা নয়, বরং তারা উপাসনা করত জিনদের, তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিল ওদের প্রতি ।’’

They (the angels) will say: "Glorified be You! You are our Wali (Lord) instead of them. Nay, but they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."

فاليوم لا يملك بعضكم لبعض نفعا ولا ضرا ونقول للذين ظلموا ذوقوا عذاب النار التي كنتم بها تكذبون

সুতরাং সেইদিন তোমাদের কেউ অপর কারোর জন্য উপকার করার ক্ষমতা রাখবে না, অপকার করারও নয়। আর যারা অন্যায়াচরণ করেছিল তাদের আমরা বলব - - ''আগুনের শাস্তি আস্বাদন কর যেটি তোমরা মিথ্যা বলতে!’’

So Today (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), none of you can profit or harm one another. And We shall say to those who did wrong [i.e. worshipped others (like the angels, jinn, prophets, saints, righteous persons) along with Allah]: "Taste the torment of the Fire which you used to belie.

وإذا تتلى عليهم آياتنا بينات قالوا ما هذا إلا رجل يريد أن يصدكم عما كان يعبد آباؤكم وقالوا ما هذا إلا إفك مفترى ۚ وقال الذين كفروا للحق لما جاءهم إن هذا إلا سحر مبين

আর যখন তাদের কাছে আমাদের সুস্পষ্ট নির্দেশাবলী আবৃত্তি করা হয় তখন তারা বলে - - ''এ তো একজন মানুষ ছাড়া আর কেউ নয় যে তোমাদের ফিরিয়ে রাখতে চায় তা থেকে যার উপাসনা করত তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষরা।’’ আর তারা বলে - - ''এ একটি বানানো মিথ্যা ব্যতীত আর কিছু নয়।’’ আর যারা অবিশ্বাস পোষণ করে তারা সত্য - সন্বন্ধে, এটি যখন তাদের কাছে আসে তখন, বলে - - ''এ স্পষ্ট জাদু বৈ তো নয়।’’

And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, they say: "This (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is naught but a man who wishes to hinder you from that which your fathers used to worship." And they say: "This (the Qur'an) is nothing but an invented lie." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them (i.e. Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم when Allah sent him as a Messenger with proofs, evidence, verses of this Qur'an, lessons, signs, etc.): "This is nothing but evident magic!"

وما آتيناهم من كتب يدرسونها ۖ وما أرسلنا إليهم قبلك من نذير

আর আমরা গ্রন্থাবলীর কোনো - কিছু তাদের দিই নি যেটি তারা পড়তে পাবে, আর তোমার পূর্বে তাদের কাছে আমরা সতর্ককারীদের কাউকেও পাঠাই নি।

And We had not given them Scriptures which they could study, nor sent to them before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) any warner (Messenger).

আর এদের পূর্বে যারা ছিল তারাও মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল, আর আমরা তাদের যা দিয়েছিলাম তার এক দশমাংশেও এরা পৌঁছায় নি, তারপর তারা আমার রসূলগণকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল, ফলে কেমন হয়েছিল আমার বিতৃষ্ণা!

And those before them belied; these have not received even a tenth of what We had granted to those (of old); yet they belied My Messengers. Then how (terrible) was My denial (punishment)!

۞ قل إنما أعظكم بواحدة ۖ أن تقوموا لله مثنى وفرادى ثم تتفكروا ۚ ما بصاحبكم من جنة ۚ إن هو إلا نذير لكم بين يدي عذاب شديد

তুমি বলো - - ''আমি তো তোমাদের একটি বিষয়ে উপদেশ দিচ্ছি - - তোমরা যেন র উদ্দেশ্যে দুজন করে অথবা একা একা উঠে দাঁড়াও, তারপর ভেবে দেখো - - তোমাদের সঙ্গীর মধ্যে কোনো জিন - ভূত নেই।’’ তিনি তোমাদের জন্য একজন সতর্ককারী বৈ তো নন, আসন্ন কঠোর শাস্তি সম্পর্কে।

Say (to them O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I exhort you to one (thing) only: that you stand up for Allah's sake in pairs and singly, and reflect (within yourselves the life history of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم): there is no madness in your companion (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). He is only a warner to you in face of a severe torment."

قل ما سألتكم من أجر فهو لكم ۖ إن أجري إلا على الله ۖ وهو على كل شيء شهيد

তুমি বলো - - ''যা - কিছু পারিশ্রমিক আমি তোমাদের কাছে চেয়েছি, সে তো তোমাদেরই জন্য! আমার পারিশ্রমিক র কাছে বৈ তো নয়, কেননা তিনি সব - কিছুর উপরে প্রত্যক্ষদশ।’’

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Whatever wage I might have asked of you is yours. My wage is from Allah only, and He is a Witness over all things."

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Verily my Lord sends down (Revelation and makes apparent) the truth (i.e. this Revelation that had come to me), the All-Knower of the Ghaib (Unseen).

তুমি বলো - - ''সত্য এসেই গেছে, আর মিথ্যার উৎপত্তি হবে না, আর এর পুনরুদ্ভবও হবে না।’’

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Al-Haqq (the truth i.e. the Qur'an and Allah's Revelation) has come, and Al-Batil [falsehood - Iblis (Satan)] can neither create anything nor resurrect (anything)."

قل إن ضللت فإنما أضل على نفسي ۖ وإن اهتديت فبما يوحي إلي ربي ۚ إنه سميع قريب

তুমি বলো - - ''যদি আমি বিপথে যাই তাহলে আমি তো আমার নিজেরই বিরুদ্ধে বিপথে গেছি, আর আমি যদি সৎপথে চলি তাহলে সেটি আমার প্রভু আমার কাছে যা প্রত্যাদেশ করেছিলেন তার জন্য। নিশ্চয় তিনি সর্বশ্রোতা, অতি নিকটবর্তী।’’

Say: "If (even) I go astray, I shall stray only to my own loss. But if I remain guided, it is because of the Revelation of my Lord to me. Truly, He is All-Hearer, Ever Near (to all things)."

ولو ترى إذ فزعوا فلا فوت وأخذوا من مكان قريب

আর তুমি যদি দেখতে পেতে যখন তারা ভীত - বিহল হয়ে পড়বে, তখন কোনো নিস্তার থাকতে না, আর তাদের পাকড়ানো হবে নিকটবর্তী স্থান থেকেই,

And if you could but see, when they will be terrified with no escape (for them), and they will be seized from a near place.

আর তারা বলবে - - ''আমরা এতে বিশ্বাস করি।’’ কিন্তু কেমন করে সুদূর স্থান থেকে তাদের জন্য পুনরাগমন সম্ভব হবে?

And they will say (in the Hereafter): "We do believe (now):" but how could they receive (Faith and the acceptance of their repentance by Allah) from a place so far off (i.e. to return to the worldly life again).

وقد كفروا به من قبل ۖ ويقذفون بالغيب من مكان بعيد

আর তারা এর আগেই তো এতে অবিশ্বাস করেছিল। আর সন্বন্ধে তারা অনুমান করত সুদূর স্থান থেকে।

Indeed they did disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah, Islam, the Qur'an and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) before (in this world), and they (used to) conjecture about the Unseen [i.e. the Hereafter, Hell, Paradise, Resurrection and the Promise of Allah (by saying) all that is untrue], from a far place.

وحيل بينهم وبين ما يشتهون كما فعل بأشياعهم من قبل ۚ إنهم كانوا في شك مريب

আর তাদের মধ্যে ও তারা যা কামনা করে তার মধ্যে এক বেড়া খাড়া করা হবে, - - যেমন করা হয়েছিল ইতিপূর্বে এদের সমগোত্রীয়দের ক্ষেত্রে। নিঃসন্দেহ তারা এক ঘোর সন্দেহে রয়েছে ।

And a barrier will be set between them and that which they desire [i.e. At-Taubah (turning to Allah in repentance) and the accepting of Faith], as was done in the past with the people of their kind. Verily, they have been in grave doubt.
