Chapter 31, 34 verses
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الم
পরম দয়ালু, পরম ক্ষমাশীল আল্লাহর নামে আলিফ - লাম - মীম;
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
تلك آيات الكتاب الحكيم
এ আয়াতগুলো প্রজ্ঞাপূর্ণ কিতাবের,
These are Verses of the Wise Book (the Qur'an).
هدى ورحمة للمحسنين
সৎকর্মশীলদের মুক্তির সরল তম পথ নির্দেশক ও দয়া স্বরূপ;
A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinun (good-doers).
الذين يقيمون الصلاة ويؤتون الزكاة وهم بالآخرة هم يوقنون
যারা কায়েম করে, যাকাত দেয়, আর তাহারাই আখিরাতে নিশ্চিত ;
Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty.
أولئك على هدى من ربهم ۖ وأولئك هم المفلحون
তাহারাই তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নির্দেশিত পথে আছে এবং তাহারাই ।
Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the .
ومن الناس من يشتري لهو الحديث ليضل عن سبيل الله بغير علم ويتخذها هزوا ۚ أولئك لهم عذاب مهين
মানুষের মধ্যে কেহ কেহ অজ্ঞতাবশত পথ হইতে বিচ্যুত করিবার জন্য অসার বাক্য ক্রয় করিয়া নেয় এবং আল্লাহর পথ লইয়া ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রপকরে। উহাদেরই জন্য রহিয়াছে অবমাননাকর শাস্তি।
And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, or the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).
وإذا تتلى عليه آياتنا ولى مستكبرا كأن لم يسمعها كأن في أذنيه وقرا ۖ فبشره بعذاب أليم
যখন উহার নিকট আমার আয়াত অবৃত্তি করা হয় তখন সে দম্ভভরে মুখ ফিরাইয়া নেয় যেন সে ইহা শুনিতে পায় নাই, যেন উহার কর্ণ দুইটি বধির ; অতএব উহাদেরকে মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তির সংবাদ দাও।
And when Our Verses (of the Qur'an) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not - as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment.
إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات لهم جنات النعيم
যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে তাহাদের জন্য আছে সুখদ কানন;
Verily, those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, for them are Gardens of Delight (Paradise).
خالدين فيها ۖ وعد الله حقا ۚ وهو العزيز الحكيم
সেখানে তাহার স্থায়ী হইবে। আল্লাহর প্রতিশ্রুতি সত্য। তিনি পরাক্রমশালী ও প্রজ্ঞাময়।
To abide therein. It is a Promise of Allah in truth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
خلق السماوات بغير عمد ترونها ۖ وألقى في الأرض رواسي أن تميد بكم وبث فيها من كل دابة ۚ وأنزلنا من السماء ماء فأنبتنا فيها من كل زوج كريم
তিনি আকাশমণ্ডলী নির্মাণ করিয়াছেন স্তম্ভ ব্যতীত - তোমরা ইহা দেখিতেছ; তিনিই পৃথিবীতে স্থাপন করিয়াছেন পর্বতমালা যাহাতে ইহা তোমাদেরকে লইয়া ঢলিয়া না পড়ে এবং ইহাতে ছড়াইয়া দিয়াছেন সর্বপ্রকার জীবজন্তু। এবং আমিই আকাশ হইতে বারি বর্ষণ করিয়া ইহাতে উদ্গত করি সর্বপ্রকার কল্যাণকর উদ্ভিদ।
He has created the heavens without any pillars that you see, and has set on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein.
هذا خلق الله فأروني ماذا خلق الذين من دونه ۚ بل الظالمون في ضلال مبين
ইহা সৃষ্টি ! তিনি ব্যতীত অন্যেরা কী সৃষ্টি করিয়াছে আমাকে দেখাও। সীমালংঘনকারীরা তো স্পষ্ট বিভ্রান্তিতে রহিয়াছে।
This is the creation of Allah. So show Me that which those (whom you worship) besides Him have created. Nay, the Zalimun (polytheists, wrongdoers and those who do not believe in the Oneness of Allah) are in plain error.
ولقد آتينا لقمان الحكمة أن اشكر لله ۚ ومن يشكر فإنما يشكر لنفسه ۖ ومن كفر فإن الله غني حميد
আমি তো লুকমানকে জ্ঞান দান করিয়াছিলাম এবং বলিয়াছিলাম যে, আল্লাহর প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ কর। যে কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে সে তো তাহা করে নিজেরই জন্য এবং কেহ অকৃতজ্ঞ হলে অভাবমুক্ত, প্রশংসতি।
And indeed We bestowed upon Luqman Al-Hikmah (wisdom and religious understanding) saying: "Give thanks to Allah." And whoever gives thanks, he gives thanks for (the good of) his ownself. And whoever is unthankful, then verily, Allah is All-Rich (Free of all needs), Worthy of all praise.
وإذ قال لقمان لابنه وهو يعظه يا بني لا تشرك بالله ۖ إن الشرك لظلم عظيم
স্মরণ কর, যখন লোকমান উপদেশচ্ছলে তাহার পুত্রকে বলিয়াছিল, ‘হে বৎস! আল্লাহর কোন শরীক করিও না। নিশ্চয়ই শিরক চরম জুলুম।’
And (remember) when Luqman said to his son when he was advising him: "O my son! Join not in worship others with Allah. Verily joining others in worship with Allah is a great Zulm (wrong) indeed.
ووصينا الإنسان بوالديه حملته أمه وهنا على وهن وفصاله في عامين أن اشكر لي ولوالديك إلي المصير
আমি তো মানুষকে তাহার পিতামাতার প্রতি সদাচরণের নির্দেশ দিয়াছি। জননী সন্তানকে কষ্টের পর কষ্ট বরণ করিয়া গর্ভে ধারণ করে এবং তাহার দুধ ছাড়ান হয় দুই বৎসরে। সুতরাং আমার প্রতি ও তোমার পিতামাতার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞ হও। প্রত্যাবর্তন তো আমারই নিকট।
And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years - give thanks to Me and to your parents. Unto Me is the final destination.
وإن جاهداك على أن تشرك بي ما ليس لك به علم فلا تطعهما ۖ وصاحبهما في الدنيا معروفا ۖ واتبع سبيل من أناب إلي ۚ ثم إلي مرجعكم فأنبئكم بما كنتم تعملون
তোমার পিতামাতা যদি তোমাকে পীড়াপীড়ি করে আমার সমকক্ষ দাঁড় করাইতে যে বিষয়ে তোমার কোন জ্ঞান নাই, তুমি তাহাদের কথা মানিও না, তবে পৃথিবীতে তাহাদের সঙ্গে বসবাস করিবে সদ্ভাবে এবং যে বিশুদ্ধচিত্তে আমার অভিমুখী হইয়াছে তাহার পথ অবলম্বন কর, অতঃপর তোমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন আমারই নিকট এবং তোমরা যাহা করিতে সে বিষয়ে আমি তোমাদেরকে অবহিত করিব।
But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not; but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do.
يا بني إنها إن تك مثقال حبة من خردل فتكن في صخرة أو في السماوات أو في الأرض يأت بها الله ۚ إن الله لطيف خبير
‘হে বৎস ! ক্ষুদ্র বস্তুটি যদি সরিষার দানা পরিমাণও হয় এবং উহা যদি থাকে শিলাগর্ভে অথবা আকাশে কিংবা মৃত্তিকার নিচে, তাহাও উপস্থিত করিবেন। নিশ্চয়ই সূক্ষ্মদর্শী, সম্যক অবগত।
"O my son! If it be (anything) equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Verily, Allah is Subtle (in bringing out that grain), Well-Aware (of its place).
يا بني أقم الصلاة وأمر بالمعروف وانه عن المنكر واصبر على ما أصابك ۖ إن ذلك من عزم الأمور
‘হে বৎস ! কায়েম করিও, সৎকর্মের নির্দেশ দিও আর অসৎ কর্মে নিষেধ করিও এবং আপদে - বিপদে ধৈর্য ধারণ করিও। ইহাই তো দৃঢ়সংকল্পের কাজ।
"O my son! Aqim-As-Salat (perform As-Salat), enjoin (on people) Al-Ma'ruf - (Islamic Monotheism and all that is good), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief in the Oneness of Allah, polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad), and bear with patience whatever befalls you. Verily, these are some of the important commandments (ordered by Allah with no exemption).
ولا تصعر خدك للناس ولا تمش في الأرض مرحا ۖ إن الله لا يحب كل مختال فخور
‘অহংকারবশে তুমি মানুষকে অবজ্ঞা করিও না এবং পৃথিবীতে উদ্ধতভাবে বিচরণ করিও না ; নিশ্চয় কােন দাম্ভকি অহংকারীকে পছন্দ করেন না।
"And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster.
واقصد في مشيك واغضض من صوتك ۚ إن أنكر الأصوات لصوت الحمير
‘তুমি পদক্ষেপ করিও সংযতভাবে এবং তোমার কণ্ঠস্বর নিচু করিও; নিশ্চয়ই স্বরের মধ্যে গর্দভের স্বরই সর্বাপেক্ষা অপ্রীতিকর।’
"And be moderate (or show no insolence) in your walking, and lower your voice. Verily, the harshest of all voices is the braying of the asses."
ألم تروا أن الله سخر لكم ما في السماوات وما في الأرض وأسبغ عليكم نعمه ظاهرة وباطنة ۗ ومن الناس من يجادل في الله بغير علم ولا هدى ولا كتاب منير
তোমরা কি দেখ না, আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবীতে যাহা কিছু আছে সমস্তই তোমাদের কল্যাণে নিয়োজিত করিয়াছেন এবং তোমাদের প্রতি তাঁহার প্রকাশ্য ও অপ্রকাশ্য অনুগ্রহ সম্পূর্ণ করিয়াছেন? মানুষের মধ্যে কেহ কেহ অজ্ঞতাবশত সম্বন্ধে বিতণ্ডা করে, তাহাদের না আছে পথনির্দেশক আর না আছে কোন দীপ্তিমান কিতাব।
See you not (O men) that Allah has subjected for you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and has completed and perfected His Graces upon you, (both) apparent (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, and the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.) and hidden [i.e. One's Faith in Allah (of Islamic Monotheism) knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise]? Yet of mankind is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a Book giving light!
وإذا قيل لهم اتبعوا ما أنزل الله قالوا بل نتبع ما وجدنا عليه آباءنا ۚ أولو كان الشيطان يدعوهم إلى عذاب السعير
উহাদেরকে যখন বলা হয়, যাহা অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছেন তাহা অনুসরণ কর।’ উহারা বলে, ‘বরং আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে যাহাতে পাইয়াছি তাহারই অনুসরণ করিব।’ শয়তান যদি উহাদেরকে জ্বলন্ত অগ্নির শাস্তির দিকে আহ্বান করে, তবুও কি?
And when it is said to them: "Follow that which Allah has sent down", they say: "Nay, we shall follow that which we found our fathers (following)." (Would they do so) even if Shaitan (Satan) invites them to the torment of the Fire?
۞ ومن يسلم وجهه إلى الله وهو محسن فقد استمسك بالعروة الوثقى ۗ وإلى الله عاقبة الأمور
যে কেহ আল্লাহর নিকট আত্মসর্মপণ করে এবং সৎকর্মপরায়ণ হয় সে তো দৃঢ়ভাবে ধারণ করে, সকল র্কমরে পরণিাম আল্লাহর দকি।
And whosoever submits his face (himself) to Allah, while he is a Muhsin (good-doer i.e. performs good deeds totally for Allah's sake without any show off or to gain praise or fame and does them in accordance with the Sunnah of Allah's Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold [La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)]. And to Allah return all matters for decision.
ومن كفر فلا يحزنك كفره ۚ إلينا مرجعهم فننبئهم بما عملوا ۚ إن الله عليم بذات الصدور
আর কেহ করিলে তাহার যেন তোমাকে ক্লিষ্ট না করে। আমারই নিকট উহাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন। অতঃপর আমি উহাদেরকে অবহিত করিব উহারা যাহা করিত। অন্তরে যা কছিু রয়ছে, সে সর্ম্পকে সবশিষে পরিজ্ঞাত।
And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). To Us is their return, and We shall inform them what they have done. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men).
نمتعهم قليلا ثم نضطرهم إلى عذاب غليظ
আমি উহাদেরকে জীবনোপকরণ ভোগ করিতে দিব স্বল্পকালের জন্য। অতঃপর উহাদেরকে কঠিন শাস্তি ভোগ করিতে বাধ্য করিব।
We let them enjoy for a little while, then in the end We shall oblige them to (enter) a great torment.
ولئن سألتهم من خلق السماوات والأرض ليقولن الله ۚ قل الحمد لله ۚ بل أكثرهم لا يعلمون
তুমি যদি উহাদেরকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর, ‘আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী কে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন?’ উহারা অবশ্যই বলিবে, ’। বল সকল প্রশংসা আল্লাহরই’, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই জানে না।
And if you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth," they will certainly say: "Allah." Say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah!" But most of them know not.
لله ما في السماوات والأرض ۚ إن الله هو الغني الحميد
আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবীতে যাহা কিছু আছে তাহা আল্লাহর, তিনি তো অভাবমুক্ত, প্রশংসার্হ।
To Allah belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Verily, Allah, He is Al-Ghani (Rich, Free of all needs), Worthy of all praise.
ولو أنما في الأرض من شجرة أقلام والبحر يمده من بعده سبعة أبحر ما نفدت كلمات الله ۗ إن الله عزيز حكيم
পৃথিবীর সমস্তবৃক্ষ যদি কলম হয় আর সমুদ্র হয় কালি এবং ইহার সঙ্গে আরও সাত সমুদ্র যুক্ত হয়ে কালি হয়,তবুও আল্লাহর বাণী নিঃশেষ হইবে না। নিশ্চয়ই পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
And if all the trees on the earth were pens and the sea (were ink wherewith to write), with seven seas behind it to add to its (supply), yet the Words of Allah would not be exhausted. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
ما خلقكم ولا بعثكم إلا كنفس واحدة ۗ إن الله سميع بصير
তোমাদের সকলের সৃষ্টি ও পুনরুত্থান একটি প্রাণীর সৃষ্টি ও পুনরুত্থানেরই অনুরূপ। নিশ্চয়ই সর্বশ্রোতা, সম্যক দ্রষ্টা।
The creation of you all and the resurrection of you all are only as (the creation and resurrection of) a single person. Verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer.
ألم تر أن الله يولج الليل في النهار ويولج النهار في الليل وسخر الشمس والقمر كل يجري إلى أجل مسمى وأن الله بما تعملون خبير
তুমি কি দেখ না আল্লাহর রাত্রিকে দিবসে এবং দিবসকে রাত্রিতে পরিণত করেন? তিনি চন্দ্র - সূর্যকে করিয়াছেন নিয়মাধীন, প্রত্যেকটি বিচরণ করে নির্দিষ্ট কাল পর্যন্ত; তোমরা যাহাকর তার খবর রাখনে?
See you not (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that Allah merges the night into the day (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the night are added to the hours of the day), and merges the day into the night (i.e. the decrease in the hours of day are added to the hours of night), and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for a term appointed; and that Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
ذلك بأن الله هو الحق وأن ما يدعون من دونه الباطل وأن الله هو العلي الكبير
এইগুলি প্রমাণ যে, সত্য এবং উহারা তাঁহার পরিবর্তে যাহাকে ডাকে, তাহা মিথ্যা। র্সবােচ্চ, মহান।
That is because Allah, He is the Truth, and that which they invoke besides Him is Al-Batil (falsehood, Satan and all other false deities); and that Allah, He is the Most High, the Most Great.
ألم تر أن الفلك تجري في البحر بنعمت الله ليريكم من آياته ۚ إن في ذلك لآيات لكل صبار شكور
তুমি কি লক্ষ্য কর না যে, অনুগ্রহে নৌযানগুলি সমুদ্রে বিচরণ করে, যদ্ধারাতিনি তোমাদেরকে তাঁহার নিদর্শনাবলীর কিছু প্রদর্শন করেন? ইহাতে অবশ্যই নিদর্শন রহিয়াছে প্রত্যেক ধৈর্যশীল কৃতজ্ঞ ব্যক্তির জন্য।
See you not that the ships sail through the sea by Allah's Grace that He may show you of His Signs? Verily, in this are signs for every patient, grateful (person).
وإذا غشيهم موج كالظلل دعوا الله مخلصين له الدين فلما نجاهم إلى البر فمنهم مقتصد ۚ وما يجحد بآياتنا إلا كل ختار كفور
যখন তরংগ উহাদেরকে আচ্ছন্ন করে মেঘচ্ছায়ার মত তখন উহারা আল্লাহর ডাকে তাহার আনগু ত্যে বিশুদ্ধচিত্ত হইয়া। কিন্তু যখন তিনি উহাদেরকে উদ্ধার করিয়া স্থলে পৌঁছান তখন উহাদের কেহ কেহ সরল পথে থাকে ; কেবল বিশ্বাসঘাতক, অকৃতজ্ঞ ব্যক্তিই আমার নিদর্শনাবলী অস্বীকার করে।
And when a wave covers them like shades (i.e. like clouds or the mountains of sea-water), they invoke Allah, making their invocations for Him only. But when He brings them safe to land, there are among them those that stop in between (Belief and disbelief). But none denies Our Signs except every perfidious ingrate.
يا أيها الناس اتقوا ربكم واخشوا يوما لا يجزي والد عن ولده ولا مولود هو جاز عن والده شيئا ۚ إن وعد الله حق ۖ فلا تغرنكم الحياة الدنيا ولا يغرنكم بالله الغرور
হে মানুষ ! তোমরা তোমাদের প্রতিপালককে ভয় কর এবং ভয় কর সেই দিনের, যখন পিতা সন্তানের কোন উপকারে আসিবে না, সন্তানও কোন উপকারে আসিবে না তাহার পিতার। আল্লাহর প্রতিশ্রুতি সত্য; সুতরাং পার্থিব জীবন যেন তোমাদেরকে কিছুতেই প্রতারিত না করে এবং সেই প্রবঞ্চক যেন তোমাদেরকে কিছুইতেই সম্পর্কে প্রবঞ্চিত না করে।
O mankind! Be afraid of your Lord (by keeping your duty to Him and avoiding all evil), and fear a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the Promise of Allah is true: let not then this (worldly) present life deceive you, nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah.
إن الله عنده علم الساعة وينزل الغيث ويعلم ما في الأرحام ۖ وما تدري نفس ماذا تكسب غدا ۖ وما تدري نفس بأي أرض تموت ۚ إن الله عليم خبير
কিয়ামতের জ্ঞান কেবল নিকট রহিয়াছে, তিনি বৃষ্টি বর্ষণ করেন এবং তিনি জানেন যাহা জরায়ুতে আছে। কেহ জানে না আগামীকল্য সে কি অর্জন করিবে এবং কেহ জানে না কােন দশেে সে মৃত্যুবরণ করব। র্সবজ্ঞ, র্সববিষয়ে সম্যক জ্ঞাত।
Verily Allah, with Him (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware (of things).
