In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. He frowned and turned away
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
The Prophet frowned and turned away
Chapter 80, 42 verses
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. He frowned and turned away
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
The Prophet frowned and turned away
Because the blind man came unto him.
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him ?
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?
As for him who thinketh himself independent,
As for he who thinks himself without need,
Unto him thou payest regard.
so widmest du dich ihm,
To him you give attention.
Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
And hath fear,
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
While he fears [Allah],
From him thou art distracted.
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
From him you are distracted.
Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment,
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;
So let whosoever will pay heed to it,
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
So whoever wills may remember it.
On honoured leaves
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
Exalted, purified,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted and purified,
(Set down) by scribes
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
[Carried] by the hands of messenger - angels,
Noble and righteous.
edlen, frommen.
Noble and dutiful.
Man is (self - )destroyed: how ungrateful!
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.
From what thing doth He create him ?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From what substance did He create him?
From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him,
From a sperm - drop He created him and destined for him;
Then maketh the way easy for him,
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He eased the way for him;
Then causeth him to die, and burieth him;
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life.
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him.
Keineswegs!
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
Let man consider his food:
Then let mankind look at his food -
How We pour water in showers
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
How We poured down water in torrents,
Then split the earth in clefts
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
And cause the grain to grow therein
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And caused to grow within it grain
And grapes and green fodder
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And grapes and herbage
And olive - trees and palm - trees
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And olive and palm trees
And garden - closes of thick foliage
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And gardens of dense shrubbery
And fruits and grasses:
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruit and grass -
Provision for you and your cattle.
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.
But when the Shout cometh
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
On the day when a man fleeth from his brother
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
And his mother and his father
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And his mother and his father
And his wife and his children,
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And his wife and his children,
Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.
On that day faces will be bright as dawn,
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -
Laughing, rejoicing at good news;
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.
And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them,
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
Veiled in darkness,
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Blackness will cover them.
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
