Chapter 15, 99 verses
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading.
আলিফ, লাম, রা। এগুলো হচ্ছে ধর্মগ্রন্থের আয়াতসমূহ, আর একটি সুস্পষ্ট পাঠ্য।
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].These are Verses of the Book and a plain Qur'an.
الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims.
সময়কালে যারা অবিশ্বাস করেছিল তারা চাইবে যে যদি তারা মুসলিম হতো!
How much would those who disbelieved wish that they had been Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam i.e. Islamic Monotheism - this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise].
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ
Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know!
ছেড়ে দাও তাদের খানাপিনা করতে ও আমোদ - আাদ করতে, আর আশা - আকাঙ্খা তাদের ভুলিয়ে রাখুক, যেহেতু শীগগিরই তারা বুঝতে পারবে!
Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know!
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا۟ وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَيُلْهِهِمُ ٱلْأَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it.
আর আমরা কোনো জনপদকে ধ্বংস করি নি যে পর্যন্ত না তার জন্য বিধান মালুম করানো হয়েছে।
And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it.
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind.
কোনো জাতি তার নির্ধারিত কাল ত্বরান্বিত করতে পারবে না, আর তারা বিলন্বিত করতে পারবে না।
No nation can advance its term, nor delay it.
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman!
আর তারা বলে - - ''ওহে যার কাছে স্মারকগ্রন্থ অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে! তুমি তো আলবৎ মাথা - পাগলা।
And they say: "O you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) to whom the Dhikr (the Qur'an) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man!
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful ?
''তুমি কেন আমাদের কাছে ফিরিশ্তাদের নিয়ে এস না, যদি তুমি সত্যবাদীদের মধ্যেকার হও।
"Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful?"
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated.
আমরা ফিরিশ্তাদের পাঠাই না সত্যের সাথে ছাড়া, আর তখন তারা অবকাশ প্রাপ্ত হবে না।
We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite!
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian.
নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা নিজেই স্মারকগ্রন্থ অবতারণ করেছি, আর আমরাই তো এর সংরক্ষণকারী।
Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption) .
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.
আর তোমার আগে আমরা নিশ্চয়ই পাঠিয়েছিলাম প্রাচীনকালের সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে।
Indeed, We sent (Messengers) before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) amongst the sects (communities) of old.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him.
কিন্তু তাদের কাছে এমন কোনো রসূল আসেন নি যাঁকে নিয়ে তারা ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রূপ করত না।
And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock at him.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty:
এইভাবে আমরা একে অপরাধীদের অন্তরে প্রবেশ করাই।
Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists and pagans (because of their mocking at the Messengers)].
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before.
তারা এতে বিশ্বাস করে না, অথচ পূর্ববর্তীদের নজীর অবশ্যই গত হয়েছে।
They would not believe in it (the Qur'an); and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth.
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it,
আর যদি আমরা তাদের জন্য মহাকাশের দরজা খুলে দিই আর তাতে তারা আরোহণ করতে থাকে - -
And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to keep on ascending thereto (all the day long)
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched.
তারা তবুও বলবে - - ''আমাদের চোখে ধাঁধা লেগেছে, আমরা বরং মোহাচ্ছন্ন দল হয়েছি।’’
They would surely say (in the evening): "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled (we have not seen any angel or heaven). Nay, we are a people bewitched."
لَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُورُونَ
And verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars, and We have beautified it for beholders.
আর বাস্তবিকই আমরা আকাশে দুর্গ তৈরি করেছি, আর তা সুশোভিত করেছি দর্শকদের জন্য।
And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders.
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ
And We have guarded it from every outcast devil,
আর আমরা তাকে রক্ষা করি প্রত্যেক বিতাড়িত শয়তানের থেকে, - -
And We have guarded it (near heaven) from every outcast Shaitan (devil).
وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
Save him who stealeth the hearing, and them doth a clear flame pursue.
সে ব্যতীত যে লুকিয়ে শোনে, ফলে তার পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে প্রখর অগ্নিশিখা।
Except him (devil) who steals the hearing then he is pursued by a clear flaming fire.
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
And the earth have We spread out, and placed therein firm hills, and caused each seemly thing to grow therein.
আর পৃথিবী - - আমরা তাকে প্রসারিত করেছি, আর তাতে স্থাপন করেছি পর্বতমালা, আর তাতে উৎপন্ন করেছি হরেক রকমের জিনিস সুপরিমিতভাবে।
And the earth We have spread out, and have placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein all kinds of things in due proportion.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
And we have given unto you livelihoods therein, and unto those for whom ye provide not.
আর তোমাদের জন্য তাতে সৃষ্টি করেছি খাদ্যবস্তু, আর তোমরা যাদের জীবিকাদাতা নও তাদের জন্যেও।
And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those whom you provide not [moving (living) creatures, cattle, beasts, and other animals].
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
And there is not a thing but with Us are the stores thereof. And we send it not down save in appointed measure.
আর এমন কোনো - কিছু নেই যার ভান্ডার আমাদের কাছে নয়, আর আমরা তা পাঠাই না নির্ধারিত পরিমাপে ছাড়া।
And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure.
وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
And We send the winds fertilising, and cause water to descend from the sky, and give it you to drink. It is not ye who are the holders of the store thereof.
আর আমরা উর্বরতা - সঞ্চারক বায়ু পাঠাই, তারপর আকাশ থেকে আমরা পানি পাঠাই, তখন তোমাদের তা পান করতে দিই, আর তোমরা তার কোষাধ্যক্ষ নও!
And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then cause the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like].
وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ
Lo! and it is We, even We, Who quicken and give death, and We are the Inheritor.
আর নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা নিজেই জীবন দান করি ও মৃত্যু ঘটাই, আর আমরাই হচ্ছি উত্তরাধিকারী।
And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors.
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْىِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
And verily We know the eager among you and verily We know the laggards.
আর আমরা নিশ্চয়ই জানি তোমাদের মধ্যের অগ্রগামীদের, আর আমরা অবশ্য জানি পশ্চাতে - পড়ে - থাকাদের।
And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards.
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ
Lo! thy Lord will gather them together. Lo! He is Wise, Aware.
আর নিঃসন্দেহ তোমার প্রভু - - তিনি তাদেরকে একত্রে সমবেত করবেন। তিনি নিশ্চয়ই পরমজ্ঞানী, সর্বজ্ঞাতা।
And verily, your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered,
আর আমরা নিশ্চয়ই মানুষ সৃষ্টি করেছি আওয়াজদায়ক মাটি থেকে, কালো কাদা থেকে রূপ দিয়ে।
And indeed, We created man from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.
আর আমরা এর আগে জিন সৃষ্টি করেছি প্রখর আগুন দিয়ে।
And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire.
وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ
And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered,
আর স্মরণ কর! তোমার প্রভু ফিরিশ্তাদের বললেন - - ''নিঃসন্দেহ আমি মানুষ সৃষ্টি করতে যাচ্ছি আওয়াজদায়ক মাটি থেকে, - - কালো কাদা থেকে রূপ দিয়ে।
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him.
সুতরাং যখন আমি তাকে সুঠাম করব আর তাতে আমার রূহ্ ফুকঁবো তখন তার প্রতি তোমরা পড় সিজদাবনত হয়ে।’’
"So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him."
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ
So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together
তখন ফিরিশ্তারা সিজদা করলে, তাদের সবাই সববেত - ভাবে, - -
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate.
ইবলিস ব্যতীত, সে সিজদাকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতে অস্বীকার করল।
Except Iblis (Satan) - he refused to be among the prostrators.
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate ?
তিনি বললেন - - ''হে ইবলিস! তোমার কি হয়েছে যে তুমি সিজদাকারীদের সঙ্গী হলে না?’’
(Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?"
قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered!
সে বললে - - ''আমি তেমন নই যে আমি সিজদা করব একজন মানুষকে যাকে তুমি সৃষ্টি করেছ আওয়াজদায়ক মাটি থেকে - - কালো কাদা থেকে রূপ দিয়ে।’’
[Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud."
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast.
তিনি বললেন - - ''তাহলে বেরিয়ে যাও এখান থেকে, কেননা নিঃসন্দেহ তুমি বিতাড়িত,
(Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment.
''আর নিশ্চয় তোমার উপরে থাকবে অসন্তষ্টি শেষবিচারের দিন পর্যন্ত।’’
"And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)."
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ ٱللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.
সে বললে - - ''আমার প্রভু! তবে আমাকে অবকাশ দাও সেই দিন পর্যন্ত যখন তাদের পুনরুত্থিত করা হবে!’’
[Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected."
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved
তিনি বললেন - - ''তবে তুমি নিশ্চয়ই অবকাশপ্রাপ্তদের মধ্যেকার - -
Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved,
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
Till the Day of appointed time.
নির্ধারিত সময়ের দিন পর্যন্ত।’’
"Till the Day of the time appointed."
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one,
সে বললে - - ''আমার প্রভু! তুমি যেমনি আমাকে বিপথে যেতে দিয়েছ, আমিও তেমনি নিশ্চয়ই তাদের নিকট চিত্তাকর্ষক করব এই পৃথিবীতে, আর অবশ্যই তাদের একসাথে বিপথগামী করব - -
[Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all.
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves.
তাদের মধ্যে তোমার খাস বান্দাদের ব্যতীত।’’
"Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them."
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me:
তিনি বললেন - - ''এটিই হচ্ছে আমার দিকে সহজ - সঠিক পথ।
(Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me."
قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee,
''নিঃসন্দেহ আমার দাসদের সন্বন্ধে - - তাদের উপরে তোমার কোনো আধিপত্য নেই, বিপথগামীদের মধ্যে যারা তোমার অনুসরণ করে তাদের ব্যতীত।
"Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawun (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers).
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ
And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place.
''আর নিঃসন্দেহ জাহান্নাম হচ্ছে তাদের সকলের জন্য প্রতিশ্রুত স্থান - -
"And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all.
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion.
''তার সাতটি দরজা আছে। প্রত্যেক প্রবেশপথের জন্য রয়েছে তাদের মধ্যের পৃথক পৃথক দল।’’
"It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ
Lo! those who ward off (evil) are among gardens and watersprings.
নিঃসন্দেহ ধর্মপরায়ণরা থাকবে স্বর্গোদ্যানে ও ঝরনারাজির মধ্যে।
"Truly! The Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise).
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
(And it is said unto them): Enter them in peace, secure.
''তোমরা এতে প্রবেশ কর শান্তিতে ও নিরাপত্তায়।’’
"(It will be said to them): 'Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.'
ٱدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ
And We remove whatever rancour may be in their breasts. As brethren, face to face, (they rest) on couches raised.
আর আমরা বের করে দেব তাদের অন্তরে যা - কিছু হিংসা - বিদ্বেষ রয়েছিল, ফলে তারা ভাইদের মতো থাকবে আসনের উপরে মুখোমুখি হয়ে।
"And We shall remove from their breasts any deep feeling of bitterness (that they may have). (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones.
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence.
সেখানে তাদের স্পর্শ করবে না কোনো অবসাদ, আর তারা সেখান থেকে বহিষ্কৃত হবে না।
"No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it."
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,
আমার বান্দাদের খবর দাও যে আমিই তো নিশ্চয়ই পরিত্রাণকারী, অফুরন্ত ফলদাতা,
Declare (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful.
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِىٓ أَنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And that My doom is the dolorous doom.
আর আমার শাস্তি, - - তা অতি মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি।
And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment.
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ
And tell them of Abraham's guests,
আর তাদের খবর দাও ইব্রাহীমের অতিথিদের সন্বন্ধে।’’
And tell them about the guests (the angels) of Ibrahim (Abraham).
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
(How) when they came in unto him, and said: Peace. He said: Lo! we are afraid of you.
যখন তারা তাঁর কাছে হাজির হল তখন তারা বললে - - ''সালাম’’। তিনি বললেন - - ''আমরা অবশ্য তোমাদের সন্বন্ধে ভয় করছি।’’
When they entered unto him, and said: Salam (peace)! [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Indeed! We are afraid of you."
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
They said: Be not afraid! Lo! we bring thee good tidings of a boy possessing wisdom.
তারা বললেন - - ''ভয় করো না, নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা তোমাকে সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছি এক জ্ঞানবান ছেলের সন্বন্ধে।’’
They (the angels) said: "Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom."
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ
He said: Bring ye me good tidings (of a son) when old age hath overtaken me ? Of what then can ye bring good tidings ?
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমরা কি আমাকে সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছ যখন বার্ধক্য আমাকে স্পর্শ করেছে? তবে কিসের তোমরা সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছ?
[Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?"
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
They said: We bring thee good tidings in truth. So be not thou of the despairing.
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা তোমাকে সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছি সত্যের সাথে, সুতরাং তুমি হতাশদের মধ্যেকার হয়ো না।’’
They (the angels) said: "We give you glad tidings in truth. So be not of the despairing."
قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْقَٰنِطِينَ
He said: And who despaireth of the mercy of his Lord save those who are astray ?
তিনি বললেন - - ''আর কে হতাশ হয় তার প্রভুর করুণা থেকে পথভ্রষ্টরা ব্যতীত?’’
[Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?"
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
He said: And afterward what is your business, O ye messengers (of Allah) ?
তিনি বললেন - - ''তবে কি তোমাদের কাজ রয়েছে, হে প্রেরিতগণ?’’
[Ibrahim (Abraham) again] said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?"
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
They said: We have been sent unto a guilty folk,
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা নিশ্চয়ই প্রেরিত হয়েছি একটি অপরাধী সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতি,
They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners).
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
(All) save the family of Lot. Them we shall deliver every one,
''লুতের অনুবর্তীরা ব্যতীত। নিঃসন্দেহ তাঁদের সবাইকে আমরা অবশ্যই উদ্ধার করব - -
"(All) except the family of Lut (Lot). Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction).
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Except his wife, of whom We had decreed that she should be of those who stay behind.
তাঁর স্ত্রী ব্যতীত। আমরা সঠিক জেনেছি যে সে তো নিশ্চয়ই পেছনে - পড়েথাকাদের মধ্যেকার।’’
"Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)."
إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot,
তারপর যখন বাণীবাহকরা লূত - এর পরিজনের কাছে এল,
Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lut (Lot).
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me).
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমরা তো অপরিচিত লোক।’’
He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me."
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing,
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা নিশ্চয়ই তোমার কাছে এসেছি তাই নিয়ে যে - সন্বন্ধে তারা তর্ক - বিতর্ক করত।
They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting.
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth - tellers.
''আর আমরা তোমার কাছে নিয়ে এসেছি সত্যবার্তা, আর আমরা নিঃসন্দেহ সত্যবাদী।
"And we have brought you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth.
وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded.
''সুতরাং তোমার পরিবার - পরিজনকে নিয়ে বেরিয়ে পড় রাতের এক অংশে, আর তুমি তাদের পেছন থেকে অনুসরণ কর, আর তোমাদের মধ্যের কেউ যেন পিছন দিকে না দেখে, আর চলে যাও যেখানে তোমাদের আদেশ করা হয়েছে।’’
"Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered."
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn.
আর তাঁর কাছে আমরা জানিয়ে দিলাম এই নির্দেশ যে এদের শেষটুকুও কেটে দেওয়া হবে ভোরে জেগে ওঠার বেলায়।
And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning.
وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals).
আর শহরের লোকেরা এল উৎফুল্ল হয়ে।
And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival).
وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not!
তিনি বললেন - - ''এরা নিশ্চয়ই আমার অতিথি, সুতরাং আমাকে বেইজ্জত করো না।
[Lut (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not.
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not!
''আর কে ভয়শ্রদ্ধা কর, আর আমাকে লজ্জা দিয়ো না!’’
"And fear Allah and disgrace me not."
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone ?
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা কি তোমাকে নিষেধ করি নি জগদ্বাসীদের সম্পর্কে?’’
They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you from entertaining (or protecting) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners and strangers from us)?"
قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so).
তিনি বললেন - - ''এরা আমার কন্যা, যদি তোমরা করতে চাও!’’
[Lut (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)."
قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ
By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death.
তোমার জীবনের কসম! তারা নিঃসন্দেহ তাদের মত্ততায় অন্ধভাবে ঘুরছিল।
Verily, by your life (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly.
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise.
কাজেই এক মহাধ্বনি তাদের পাকড়াও করল সূর্যোদয়কালে।
So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them at the time of sunrise.
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay.
কাজেকাজেই এর উপরভাগ আমরা বানিয়ে দিলাম এর নিচের ভাগ, আর তাদের উপরে বর্ষণ করলাম পোড়া - মাটির পাথর।
And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.
فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs.
নিশ্চয়ই এতে চিন্তাশীলদের জন্য নিদের্শনাবলী রয়েছে।
Surely! In this are signs for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah).
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced.
আর নিঃসন্দেহ এটি একটি সড়কের উপরে অবস্থিত।
And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now) .
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers.
নিঃসন্দেহ এতে তো নিদর্শন রয়েছে মুমিনদের জন্য।
Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil - doers.
আর আসহাবুল আইকাহ্ অবশ্যই ছিল অন্যায়াচারী।
And the Dwellers in the Wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib (عليه السلام) was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ
So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high - road plain to see.
সেজন্য তাদের থেকে আমরা প্রতিফল আদায় করেছিলাম। তারা উভয়েই তো রয়েছে প্রকাশ্য রাজপথে।
So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see.
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
And the dwellers in Al - Hijr denied (Our) messengers.
আর নিশ্চয় পাথুরে - পাহাড়ের বাসিন্দারাও রসূলগণকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল।
And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers.
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْحِجْرِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them.
আর তাদের আমরা আমাদের নির্দেশাবলী দিয়েছিলাম, কিন্তু তারা সে - সব থেকে ফিরে গিয়েছিল।
And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them.
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
And they used to hew out dwellings from the hills, (wherein they dwelt) secure.
আর তারা পাহাড় কেটে নিশ্চিন্ত হয়ে বাড়িঘর তৈরি করত।
And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure.
وَكَانُوا۟ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ
But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour,
কিন্তু প্রচন্ড আওয়াজ তাদের পাকড়াও করল সকালবেলায়।
But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days).
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not.
কাজেই তারা যা অর্জন করত তা তাদের কোনো কাজে আসে নি।
And all that they used to earn availed them not.
فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness.
আর আমরা মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবী এবং এ দুইয়ের মধ্যে যা - কিছু আছে তা সৃষ্টি করি নি সত্যের সঙ্গে ব্যতীত। আর নিঃসন্দেহ ঘড়ি - ঘন্টা তো এসে পড়ল; সুতরাং উপেক্ষা করো মহৎ উপেক্ষাভরে।
And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) their faults with gracious forgiveness. [This was before the ordainment of Jihad - holy fighting in Allah's cause].
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All - Wise Creator.
নিঃসন্দেহ তোমার প্রভু, - - তিনি সর্বস্রষ্টা, সর্বজ্ঞাতা।
Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
We have given thee seven of the oft - repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an.
আর নিশ্চয়ই তোমাকে আমরা দিয়েছি বারবার - পঠিত সাতটি, আর এক সুমহান কুরআন।
And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatihah) and the Grand Qur'an.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ
Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers.
তাদের মধ্যের কতক পরিবারকে যা ভোগবিলাসের বস্তু দিয়েছি তার প্রতি তোমার চোখ দিয়ো না, আর তাদের প্রতি তুমি ক্ষোভ করো না, বরং তোমার ডানা নামাও মুমিনদের জন্য।
Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers).
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner,
আর বলো - - ''নিঃসন্দেহ আমি, আমি হচ্ছি একজন প্রকাশ্য সতর্ককারী।’’
And say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "I am indeed a plain warner."
وَقُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
Such as We send down for those who make division,
যেমন আমরা পাঠিয়েছিলাম বিভক্তদের প্রতি, - -
As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians).
كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
Those who break the Qur'an into parts.
যারা কুরআনকে করে ছিন্নভিন্ন।
Who have made the Qur'an into parts. (i.e. believed in one part and disbelieved in the other). [Tafsir At-Tabari]
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ
Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one,
সুতরাং, তোমার প্রভুর কসম! আমরা নিশ্চয়ই তাদের সবাইকে প্রশ্ন করব - -
So, by your Lord (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم), We shall certainly call all of them to account.
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Of what they used to do.
তারা যা করে চলেছিল সে - সন্বন্ধে।
For all that they used to do.
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters.
কাজেই প্রকাশ্যে ঘোষণা করো যা তোমাকে আদেশ করা হয়েছে, আর বহুখোদাবাদীদের থেকে ফিরে থেকো।
Therefore proclaim openly (Allah's Message - Islamic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al-Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers - See V.2:105).
فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers,
আমরাই তো তোমার জন্য যথেষ্ট বিদ্রূপকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে - -
Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers,
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know.
যারা র সাথে দাঁড় করায় অন্য উপাস্য, কাজেই শীঘ্রই তারা জানতে পারবে।
Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god); but they will come to know.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say,
আর আমরা অবশ্য জানি যে তারা যা বলে তাতে তোমার বক্ষ আলবৎ পীড়িত হয়,
Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say.
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
But hymn the praise of thy Lord, and be of those who make prostration (unto Him).
সুতরাং তোমার প্রভুর প্রশংসা দ্বারা মহিমা কীর্তন করো, আর সিজদাকারীদের মধ্যেকার হও,
So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him).
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee.
আর তোমার প্রভুর উপাসনা কর যে পর্যন্ত না তোমার কাছে আসে যা সুনিশ্চিত।
And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death).
وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
