Chapter 88, 26 verses
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity?
Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyati
হাল্ আতা-কা হাদীছুল্ গ-শিয়াহ্।
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ
(Some) faces on that day shall be downcast,
Wujoohun yawmaithin khashiAAatun
বিসমিল্লাহির রাহমা-নির রাহি-ম উজু হুঁই ইয়াওমায়িযিন্ খ-শি'আতুন্।
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
Laboring, toiling,
AAamilatun nasibatun
'আ-মিলাতুন্ না-ছিবাতুন্।
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
Entering into burning fire,
Tasla naran hamiyatan
তাছ্লা-না-রন্ হা-মিয়াতান্।
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
Made to drink from a boiling spring.
Tusqa min AAaynin aniyatin
তুস্ক্বা-মিন্ 'আইনিন্ আ-নিয়াহ্।
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
They shall have no food but of thorns,
Laysa lahum taAAamun illa min dareeAAin
লাইসা লাহুম্ ত্বোয়া'আ-মুন্ ইল্লা-মিন্ দ্বোয়ারীই'
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger.
La yusminu wala yughnee min jooAAin
ল্লা-ইয়ুস্মিনু অলা-ইয়ুগ্নী মিন্ জু'ইন্।
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
(Other) faces on that day shall be happy,
Wujoohun yawmaithin naAAimatun
উজু হুই ইয়াওমায়িযিন্ না-'ইমাতুল্।
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
Well - pleased because of their striving,
LisaAAyiha radiyatun
লিসা'য়িহা-র-দ্বিয়াতুন্।
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
In a lofty garden,
Fee jannatin AAaliyatin
ফী জ্বান্নাতিন্ 'আ-লিয়াতি।
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
Wherein you shall not hear vain talk.
La tasmaAAu feeha laghiyatan
লা-তাস্মা'উ ফীহা-লা-গিয়াহ্।
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةً
Therein is a fountain flowing,
Feeha AAaynun jariyatun
ফীহা-'আইনুন্ জ্বা-রিয়াহ্।
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
Therein are thrones raised high,
Feeha sururun marfooAAatun
ফীহা-ছুরুরুম্ র্মাফূ 'আতুও।
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
And drinking - cups ready placed,
Waakwabun mawdooAAatun
অ আক্ওয়া-বুম্ মাওদু'আতুঁও।
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
And cushions set in a row,
Wanamariqu masfoofatun
অনামা-রিকু মাছ্ ফূফাতুঁও।
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
And carpets spread out.
Wazarabiyyu mabthoothatun
অযারা বিয়্যু মাব্ছূছাহ্।
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created?
Afala yanthuroona ila alibili kayfa khuliqat
আফালা- ইয়ান্জুরূনা ইলাল্ ইবিলি কাইফা খুলিক্বত্
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
And the heaven, how it is reared aloft,
Waila alssamai kayfa rufiAAat
অইলাস্ সামা-য়ি কাইফা রুফি'আত্।
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed,
Waila aljibali kayfa nusibat
অইলাল্ জ্বিবা-লি কাইফা নুছিবাত্।
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse?
Waila alardi kayfa sutihat
অইলাল্ র্আদ্বি কাইফা সুত্বিহাত্
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder.
Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirun
ফা যার্ক্কি ইন্নামা য় আন্তা মুযার্ক্কি।
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
You are not a watcher over them;
Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytirin
লাস্তা 'আলাইহিম্ বিমুসাইত্বিরিন্।
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
But whoever turns back and disbelieves,
Illa man tawalla wakafara
ইল্লা-মান্ তাওয়াল্লা-অকাফার।
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement.
FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathaba alakbara
ফাইয়ু'আয্যিবুহুল্ লা-হুল্ 'আযা-বাল্ আর্ক্বা।
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
Surely to Us is their turning back,
Inna ilayna iyabahum
ইন্না ইলাইনা য় ইইয়া-বাহুম্
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account.
Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum
ছুম্মা ইন্না 'আলাইনা- হিসা-বাহুম্
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
