1 I swear by the fig and the olive,

Transliteration

1 Waaltteeni waalzzaytooni

1 In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By the fig, and the olive.

Shakir

2 And mount Sinai,

Transliteration

2 Watoori seeneena

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

2 By Mount Sinai.

Shakir

3 And this city made secure,

Transliteration

3 Wahatha albaladi alameeni

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

3 By this city of security (Makkah).

Shakir

4 Certainly We created man in the best make.

Transliteration

4 Laqad khalaqna alinsana fee ahsani taqweemin

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

4 Verily, We created man in the best stature (mould).

Shakir

5 Then We render him the lowest of the low.

Transliteration

5 Thumma radadnahu asfala safileena

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

5 Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low.

Shakir

6 Except those who believe and do good, so they shall have a reward never to be cut off.

Transliteration

6 Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati falahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

6 Save those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous deeds. Then they shall have a reward without end (Paradise).

7 Then who can give you the lie after (this) about the judgment?

Transliteration

7 Fama yukaththibuka baAAdu bialddeeni

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

7 Then what (or who) causes you (O disbelievers) to deny the Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)?

8 Is not Allah the best of the Judges?

Transliteration

8 Alaysa Allahu biahkami alhakimeena
