Shakir

He frowned and turned (his) back,

Deutsch

Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,

Yusuf Ali

(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

Shakir

Because there came to him the blind man.

Deutsch

weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.

Yusuf Ali

Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

Shakir

And what would make you know that he would purify himself,

Deutsch

Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich

Yusuf Ali

But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -

Shakir

Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?

Shakir

As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,

Shakir

To him do you address yourself.

Deutsch

so widmest du dich ihm,

Yusuf Ali

To him dost thou attend;

Shakir

And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).

Shakir

And as to him who comes to you striving hard,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,

Shakir

And he fears,

Deutsch

und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,

Yusuf Ali

And with fear (in his heart),

Shakir

From him will you divert yourself.

Deutsch

von dem läßt du dich ablenken.

Yusuf Ali

Of him wast thou unmindful.

Shakir

Nay! surely it is an admonishment.

Deutsch

Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.

Yusuf Ali

By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:

Shakir

So let him who pleases mind it.

Deutsch

Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.

Yusuf Ali

Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.

Shakir

In honored books,

Deutsch

(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,

Yusuf Ali

(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,

Shakir

Exalted, purified,

Deutsch

erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,

Yusuf Ali

Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,

Shakir

In the hands of scribes

Deutsch

durch die Hände von Entsandten,

Yusuf Ali

(Written) by the hands of scribes -

Shakir

Noble, virtuous.

Deutsch

edlen, frommen.

Yusuf Ali

Honourable and Pious and Just.

Shakir

Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!

Deutsch

Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!

Yusuf Ali

Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;

Shakir

Of what thing did He create him?

Deutsch

Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?

Yusuf Ali

From what stuff hath He created him?

Shakir

Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;

Shakir

Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)

Deutsch

Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.

Yusuf Ali

Then doth He make His path smooth for him;

Shakir

Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,

Deutsch

Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.

Yusuf Ali

Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;

Shakir

Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.

Deutsch

Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.

Yusuf Ali

Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).

Shakir

Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.

Deutsch

Keineswegs!

Yusuf Ali

By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.

Shakir

Then let man look to his food,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):

Shakir

That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,

Deutsch

Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,

Yusuf Ali

For that We pour forth water in abundance,

Shakir

Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

And We split the earth in fragments,

Shakir

Then We cause to grow therein the grain,

Deutsch

und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen

Yusuf Ali

And produce therein corn,

Shakir

And grapes and clover,

Deutsch

und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug

Yusuf Ali

And Grapes and nutritious plants,

Shakir

And the olive and the palm,

Deutsch

und Ölbäume und Palmen

Yusuf Ali

And Olives and Dates,

Shakir

And thick gardens,

Deutsch

und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen

Yusuf Ali

And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,

Shakir

And fruits and herbage

Deutsch

und Früchte und Futter,

Yusuf Ali

And fruits and fodder, -

Shakir

A provision for you and for your cattle.

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

Shakir

But when the deafening cry comes,

Deutsch

Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,

Yusuf Ali

At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -

Shakir

The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,

Shakir

And his mother and his father,

Deutsch

und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater

Yusuf Ali

And from his mother and his father,

Shakir

And his spouse and his son - -

Deutsch

und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen

Yusuf Ali

And from his wife and his children.

Shakir

Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.

Shakir

(Many) faces on that day shall be bright,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Some faces that Day will be beaming,

Shakir

Laughing, joyous.

Deutsch

lachen und sich freuen.

Yusuf Ali

Laughing, rejoicing.

Shakir

And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,

Shakir

Darkness shall cover them.

Deutsch

und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.

Yusuf Ali

Blackness will cover them:

Shakir

These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.

Deutsch

Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.

Yusuf Ali

Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
