Read in the name of your Lord Who created.
জহুরুল হক
তুমি পড়ো তোমার প্রভুর নামে যিনি সৃষ্টি করেছেন, - -

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
Saheeh International
Recite in the name of your Lord who created -

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
Shakir
He created man from a clot.
জহুরুল হক
সৃষ্টি করেছেন মানুষকে এক রক্তপিন্ড থেকে।

خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Saheeh International
Created man from a clinging substance.

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Shakir
Read and your Lord is Most Honorable,
জহুরুল হক
পড়ো! আর তোমার প্রভু মহাসম্মানিত - -

اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ
Saheeh International
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -

ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
Shakir
Who taught (to write) with the pen
জহুরুল হক
যিনি শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন কলমের সাহায্যে,

الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
Saheeh International
Who taught by the pen -
Word by word
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
Shakir
Taught man what he knew not.
জহুরুল হক
শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন মানুষকে যা সে জানতোই না।
Arabic, with marks
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Saheeh International
Taught man that which he knew not.

عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Shakir
Nay! man is most surely inordinate,
জহুরুল হক
বস্তুতঃ মানুষ নিশ্চয়ই সীমালংঘন করেই থাকে।

كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ
Saheeh International
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
Shakir
Because he sees himself free from want.
জহুরুল হক
কারণ সে নিজেকে স্বয়ংসমৃদ্ধ দেখে।

أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ
Saheeh International
Because he sees himself self - sufficient.

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
Shakir
Surely to your Lord is the return.
জহুরুল হক
নিশ্চয় তোমার প্রভুর কাছেই প্রত্যাবর্তন।

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ
Saheeh International
Indeed, to your Lord is the return.

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
Shakir
Have you seen him who forbids
জহুরুল হক
তুমি কি তাকে দেখেছ যে বারণ করে - -

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ
Saheeh International
Have you seen the one who forbids

أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
Shakir
A servant when he prays?
জহুরুল হক
একজন বান্দাকে যখন সে পড়ে?

عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ
Saheeh International
A servant when he prays?

عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
Shakir
Have you considered if he were on the right way,
জহুরুল হক
তুমি কি লক্ষ্য করেছ - - সে সৎপথে রয়েছে কি না,

أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ
Saheeh International
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
Word by word
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
Shakir
Or enjoined guarding (against evil)?
জহুরুল হক
অথবা ধর্মভীরুতা অবলন্বনের নির্দেশ দেয় কিনা?

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ
Saheeh International
Or enjoins righteousness?

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
Shakir
Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back?
জহুরুল হক
তুমি কি দেখেছ - - সে মিথ্যারোপ করছে ও ফিরে যাচ্ছে কি না?

أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Saheeh International
Have you seen if he denies and turns away -
Word by word
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
Shakir
Does he not know that Allah does see?
জহুরুল হক
সে কি জানে না যে অবশ্যই দেখতে পাচ্ছেন?
Arabic, with marks
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Saheeh International
Does he not know that Allah sees?

أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Shakir
Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead,
জহুরুল হক
না, যদি সে না থামে তবে আমরা নিশ্চয় টেনে ধরব কপালের চুলের গোছা - -

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ
Saheeh International
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock -

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
Shakir
A lying, sinful forehead.
জহুরুল হক
মিথ্যাচারী পাপাচারী চুলের গোছা!

نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
Saheeh International
A lying, sinning forelock.

نَاصِيَةٍ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
Shakir
Then let him summon his council,
জহুরুল হক
তাহলে সে ডাকুক তার সাঙ্গোপাঙ্গদের,

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ
Saheeh International
Then let him call his associates;

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
Shakir
We too would summon the braves of the army.
জহুরুল হক
আমরাও সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ডাকবো দুর্ধর্ষ বাহিনীকে।

سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ
Saheeh International
We will call the angels of Hell.

سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
Shakir
Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah).
জহুরুল হক
না, তুমি তার আজ্ঞা পালন করো না, বরং তুমি সিজদা করো এবং নিকটবর্তী হও।

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب ۩
Saheeh International
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
