Chapter 38, 88 verses
Sad waalqurani thee alththikri
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Sad. By the renowned Qur'an,
পরম দয়ালু, পরম ক্ষমাশীল আল্লাহর নামে; সোয়াদ, শপথ উপদেশপূর্ণ কুরআনের! তুমি অবশ্যই সত্যবাদী।
Bali allatheena kafaroo fee AAizzatin washiqaqin
Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism.
কিন্তু কাফিররা ঔদ্ধত্য ও বিরোধিতায় ডুবিয়া আছে।
Kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin fanadaw walata heena manasin
How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape!
ইহাদের পূর্বে আমি কত জনগোষ্ঠী ধ্বংস করিয়াছি; তখন উহারা আর্তচিৎকার করিয়াছিল। কিন্তু তখন পরিত্রাণের কোনই উপায় ছিল না।
WaAAajiboo an jaahum munthirun minhum waqala alkafiroona hatha sahirun kaththabun
And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan.
ইহারা বিস্ময় বোধ করিতেছে যে, ইহাদের নিকট ইহাদেরই মধ্য হইতে একজন সতর্ককারী আসিল এবং কাফিররা বলে, ‘এ তো এক জাদুকর, মিথ্যাবাদী।’
AjaAAala alalihata ilahan wahidan inna hatha lashayon AAujabun
Maketh he the gods One God ? Lo! that is an astounding thing.
‘সে কি বহু ইলাহ্কে এক ইলাহ্ বানাইয়া লইয়াছে? ইহা তো এক অত্যাশ্চর্য ব্যাপার!’
Waintalaqa almalao minhum ani imshoo waisbiroo AAala alihatikum inna hatha lashayon yuradu
The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed.
উহাদের প্রধানেরা সরিয়া পড়ে এই বলিয়া, ‘তোমরা চলিয়া যাও এবং তোমাদের দেবতাগুলির পূজায় তোমরা অবিচলিত থাক। নিশ্চয়ই এই ব্যাপারটি উদ্দেশ্যমূলক।’
Ma samiAAna bihatha fee almillati alakhirati in hatha illa ikhtilaqun
We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention.
‘আমরা তো অন্য ধর্মাদর্শে এরূপ কথা শুনি নাই; ইহা এক মনগড়া উক্তি মাত্র।
Aonzila AAalayhi alththikru min baynina bal hum fee shakkin min thikree bal lamma yathooqoo AAathabi
Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us ? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom.
‘আমাদের মধ্য হইতে কি তাহারই উপর কুরআন অবতীর্ণ হইল?’ প্রকৃতপক্ষে উহারা তো আমার কুরআনে সন্দিহান, উহারা এখনও আমার শাস্তি আস্বাদন করে নাই। উহাদের নিকট কি আছে তোমার প্রতিপালকের অনুগ্রহের ভাণ্ডার, যিনি পরাক্রমশালী, মহান দাতা?
Am AAindahum khazainu rahmati rabbika alAAazeezi alwahhabi
Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower ?
উহাদের নিকট কি আছে তোমার প্রতিপালকের অনুগ্রহের ভাণ্ডার, যিনি পরাক্রমশালী, মহান দাতা?
Am lahum mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma falyartaqoo fee alasbabi
Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs ? Then let them ascend by ropes!
উহাদের কি কর্তৃত্ব আছে আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী এবং উহাদের অন্তর্বর্তী সমস্ত কিছুর উপর? থাকিলে, উহারা সিঁড়ি বাহিয়া আরোহণ করুক!
Jundun ma hunalika mahzoomun mina alahzabi
A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there.
বহু দলের এই বাহিনীও সেক্ষেত্রে অবশ্যই পরাজিত হইবে।
Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin waAAadun wafirAAawnu thoo alawtadi
The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted,
ইহাদের পূর্বেও রাসূলদেরকে অস্বীকার করিয়াছিল নূহের সম্প্রদায়, ‘আদ ও বহু শিবিরের অধিপতি ফির‘আওন,
Wathamoodu waqawmu lootin waashabu alaykati olaika alahzabu
And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions.
সামূদ, লূত সম্প্রদায় ও ‘আয়কা‘র অধিবাসী; উহারা ছিল এক - একটি বিশাল বাহিনী।
In kullun illa kaththaba alrrusula fahaqqa AAiqabi
Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified,
উহাদের প্রত্যেকেই রাসূলগণকে অস্বীকার করিয়াছে। ফলে উহাদের ক্ষেত্রে আমার শাস্তি হইয়াছে বাস্তব।
Wama yanthuru haolai illa sayhatan wahidatan ma laha min fawaqin
These wait for but one Shout, there will be no second thereto.
ইহারা তো অপেক্ষা করিতেছে একটি মাত্র প্রচণ্ড নিনাদের, যাহাতে কোন বিরাম থাকিবে না।
Waqaloo rabbana AAajjil lana qittana qabla yawmi alhisabi
They say: Our Lord! Hasten on for us our fate before the Day of Reckoning.
ইহারা বলে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! বিচারদিবসের পূর্বেই আমাদের প্রাপ্য আমাদেরকে শীঘ্র দিয়া দাও না।’
Isbir AAala ma yaqooloona waothkur AAabdana dawooda tha alaydi innahu awwabun
Bear with what they say, and remember Our bondman David, lord of might, Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah).
ইহারা যাহা বলে তাহাতে তুমি ধৈর্য ধারণ কর এবং স্মরণ কর, আমার শক্তিশালী বান্দা দাউদের কথা, সে ছিল অতিশয় আল্লহ অভিমুখী।
Inna sakhkharna aljibala maAAahu yusabbihna bialAAashiyyi waalishraqi
Lo! We subdued the hills to hymn the praises (of their Lord) with him at nightfall and sunrise,
আমি নিয়োজিত করিয়াছিলাম পর্বতমালাকে, যেন ইহারা সকাল - সন্ধ্যায় তাহার সঙ্গে আমার পবিত্রতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণা করে
Waalttayra mahshooratan kullun lahu awwabun
And the birds assembled; all were turning unto Him.
এবং সমবেত বিহঙ্গকুলকেও; সকলেই ছিল তাঁহার অভিমুখী।
Washadadna mulkahu waataynahu alhikmata wafasla alkhitabi
We made his kingdom strong and gave him wisdom and decisive speech.
আমি তাহার রাজ্যকে সুদৃঢ় করিয়াছিলাম এবং তাহাকে দিয়াছিলাম প্রজ্ঞা ও ফয়সালাকারী বাগ্মিতা।
Wahal ataka nabao alkhasmi ith tasawwaroo almihraba
And hath the story of the litigants come unto thee ? How they climbed the wall into the royal chamber;
তোমার নিকট বিবদমান লোকদের বৃত্তান্ত পৌঁছিয়াছে কি? যখন উহারা প্রাচীর ডিঙাইয়া আসিল ‘ইবাদতখানায়,
Ith dakhaloo AAala dawooda fafaziAAa minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmani bagha baAAduna AAala baAAdin faohkum baynana bialhaqqi wala tushtit waihdina ila sawai alssirati
How they burst in upon David, and he was afraid of them. They said: Be not afraid! (We are) two litigants, one of whom hath wronged the other, therefor judge aright between us; be not unjust; and show us the fair way.
এবং দাঊদের নিকট পৌঁছিল, তখন তাহাদের কারণে সে ভীত হইয়া পড়িল। উহারা বলিল, ‘ভীত হইবেন না, আমরা দুই বিবদমান পক্ষ - আমাদের একে অপরের উপর জুলুম করিয়াছে; অতএব আমাদের মধ্যে ন্যায়বিচার করুন ; অবিচার করিবেন না এবং আমাদেরকে সঠিক পথনির্দেশ করুন।
Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAun watisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqala akfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitabi
Lo! this my brother hath ninety and nine ewes while I had one ewe; and he said: Entrust it to me, and he conquered me in speech.
‘এই ব্যক্তি আমার ভাই, ইহার আছে নিরানব্বইটি দুম্বা এবং আমার আছে মাত্র একটি দুম্বা। তবুও সে বলে, ‘আমার যিম্মায় এইটি দিয়া দাও’, এবং কথায় সে আমার প্রতি কঠোরতা প্রদর্শন করিয়াছে।
Qala laqad thalamaka bisuali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wainna katheeran mina alkhulatai layabghee baAAduhum AAala baAAdin illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati waqaleelun ma hum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahu faistaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanaba
(David) said: He hath wronged thee in demanding thine ewe in addition to his ewes, and lo! many partners oppress one another, save such as believe and do good works, and they are few. And David guessed that We had tried him, and he sought forgiveness of his Lord, and he bowed himself and fell down prostrate and repented.
দাঊদ বলিল, ‘তোমার দুম্বাটিকে তাহার দুম্বাগুলির সঙ্গে যুক্ত করিবার দাবি করিয়া সে তো তোমার প্রতি জুলুম করিয়াছে। শরীকদের অনেকে একে অন্যের উপর তো অবিচার করিয়া থাকে - করে না কেবল ও সৎকর্মপরায়ণ ব্যক্তিগণ এবং তাহারা সংখ্যায় স্বল্প।’ দাঊদ বুঝিতে পারিল, আমি তাহাকে পরীক্ষা করিলাম। অতঃপর সে তাহার প্রতিপালকের নিকট ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করিল এবং নত হইয়া লুটাইয়া পড়িল ও তাঁহার অভিমুখী হইল।
Faghafarna lahu thalika wainna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maabin
So We forgave him that; and lo! he had access to Our presence and a happy journey's end.
অতঃপর আমি তাহার ত্রুটি ক্ষমা করিলাম। আমার নিকট তাহার জন্য রহিয়াছে নৈকট্যের মর্যাদা ও শুভ পরিণাম।
Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnaka khaleefatan fee alardi faohkum bayna alnnasi bialhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillaka AAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloona AAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bima nasoo yawma alhisabi
(And it was said unto him): O David! Lo! We have set thee as a viceroy in the earth; therefor judge aright between mankind, and follow not desire that it beguile thee from the way of Allah. Lo! those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful doom, forasmuch as they forgot the Day of Reckoning.
‘হে দাঊদ! আমি তোমাকে পৃথিবীতে প্রতিনিধি করিয়াছি, অতএব তুমি লোকদের মধ্যে সুবিচার কর এবং খেয়াল - খুশির অনুসরণ করিও না, কেননা ইহা তোমাকে আল্লাহর পথ হইতে বিচ্যুত করিবে।’ যাহারা পথ হইতে ভ্রষ্ট হয় তাহাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে কঠিন শাস্তি, কারণ তাহারা বিচারদিবসকে বিস্মৃত হইয়া আছে।
Wama khalaqna alssamaa waalarda wama baynahuma batilan thalika thannu allatheena kafaroo fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo mina alnnari
And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire!
আমি আকাশ, পৃথিবী এবং এতদুভয়ের মধ্যবর্তী কোন কিছুই অনর্থক সৃষ্টি করি নাই। অনর্থক সৃষ্টি করার ধারণা উহাদের যাহারা , সুতরাং কাফিরদের জন্য রহিয়াছে জাহান্নামের দুর্ভোগ।
Am najAAalu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati kaalmufsideena fee alardi am najAAalu almuttaqeena kaalfujjari
Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the pious as the wicked ?
যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে এবং যাহারা পৃথিবীতে বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টি করিয়া বেড়ায়, আমি কি তাহাদেরকে সমান গণ্য করিব? আমি কি মুত্তাকীদেরকে অপরাধীদের সমান গণ্য করিব?
Kitabun anzalnahu ilayka mubarakun liyaddabbaroo ayatihi waliyatathakkara oloo alalbabi
(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect.
এক কল্যাণময় কিতাব, ইহা আমি তোমার প্রতি অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছি, যাহাতে মানুষ ইহার আয়াতসমূহ অনুধাবন করে এবং বোধশক্তিসম্পন্ন ব্যক্তিগণ গ্রহণ করে উপদেশ।
Wawahabna lidawooda sulaymana niAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun
And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah).
আমি দাঊদকে দান করিলাম সুলায়মান। সে ছিল উত্তম বান্দা এবং সে ছিল অতিশয় অভিমুখী।
Ith AAurida AAalayhi bialAAashiyyi alssafinatu aljiyadu
When there were shown to him at eventide lightfooted coursers
যখন অপরাহ্নে তাহার সম্মুখে ধাবনোদ্যত উৎকৃষ্ট অশ্বরাজিকে উপস্থিত করা হইল,
Faqala innee ahbabtu hubba alkhayri AAan thikri rabbee hatta tawarat bialhijabi
And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain.
তখন সে বলিল, ‘আমি তো আমার প্রতিপালকের স্মরণ হইতে বিমুখ হইয়া ঐশ্বর্য প্রীতিতে মনগড়া হইয়া পড়িয়াছি, এদিকে সূর্য অস্তমিত হইয়া গিয়াছে;
Ruddooha AAalayya fatafiqa mashan bialssooqi waalaAAnaqi
(Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks.
‘এইগুলিকে পুনরায় আমার সম্মুখে আনয়ন কর।’ অতঃপর সে উহাদের পদ ও গলদেশ ছেদন করিতে লাগিল।
Walaqad fatanna sulaymana waalqayna AAala kursiyyihi jasadan thumma anaba
And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent.
আমি তো সুলায়মানকে পরীক্ষা করিলাম এবং তাহার আসনের উপর রাখিলাম একটি ধড়; অতঃপর সুলায়মান আমার অভিমুখী হইল।
Qala rabbi ighfir lee wahab lee mulkan la yanbaghee liahadin min baAAdee innaka anta alwahhabu
He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower.
সে বলিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! আমাকে ক্ষমা কর এবং আমাকে দান কর এমন এক রাজ্য যাহার অধিকারী আমি ছাড়া কেহ না হয়। তুমি তো পরম দাতা।’
Fasakhkharna lahu alrreeha tajree biamrihi rukhaan haythu asaba
So We made the wind subservient unto him, setting fair by his command whithersoever he intended.
তখন আমি তাহার অধীন করিয়া দিলাম বায়ুকে, যাহা তাহার আদেশে, সে যেখানে ইচ্ছা করিত সেখানে মৃদুমন্দভাবে প্রবাহিত হইত,
Waalshshayateena kulla bannain waghawwasin
And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient),
এবং শয়তানদেরকে, যাহারা সকলেই ছিল প্রাসাদ নির্মাণকারী ও ডুবুরী,
Waakhareena muqarraneena fee alasfadi
And others linked together in chains,
এবং শৃঙ্খলে আবদ্ধ আরও অনেককে।
Hatha AAataona faomnun aw amsik bighayri hisabin
(Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning.
‘এইসব আমার অনুগ্রহ, ইহা হইতে তুমি অন্যকে দিতে অথবা নিজে রাখিতে পার। ইহার জন্য তোমাকে হিসাব দিতে হইবে না।’
Wainna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maabin
And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end.
এবং আমার নিকট রহিয়াছে তাহার জন্য নৈকট্যের মর্যাদা ও শুভ পরিণাম।
Waothkur AAabdana ayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya alshshaytanu binusbin waAAathabin
And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment.
স্মরণ কর, আমার বান্দা আইউবকে, যখন সে তাহার প্রতিপালককে আহবান করিয়া বলিয়াছিল, ‘শয়তান তো আমাকে যন্ত্রণা ও কষ্টে ফেলিয়াছে’,
Orkud birijlika hatha mughtasalun baridun washarabun
(And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink.
আমি তাহাকে বলিলাম, ‘তুমি তোমার পদ দ্বারা ভূমিতে আঘাত কর, এই তো গোসলের সুশীতল পানি আর পানীয়।’
Wawahabna lahu ahlahu wamithlahum maAAahum rahmatan minna wathikra liolee alalbabi
And We bestowed on him (again) his household and therewith the like thereof, a mercy from Us, and a memorial for men of understanding.
আমি তাহাকে দান করিলাম তাহার পরিজনবর্গ ও তাহাদের মত আরও, আমার অনুগ্রহস্বরূপ এবং বোধশক্তিসম্পন্ন লোকদের জন্য উপদেশস্বরূপ।
Wakhuth biyadika dighthan faidrib bihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiran niAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun
And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord).
আমি তাহাকে আদেশ করিলাম, ‘একমুষ্টি তৃণ লও ও উহা দ্বারা আঘাত কর এবং শপথ ভঙ্গ করিও না।’ আমি তো তাহাকে পাইলাম ধৈর্যশীল। কত উত্তম বান্দা সে! সে ছিল আমার অভিমুখী।
Waothkur AAibadana ibraheema waishaqa wayaAAqooba olee alaydee waalabsari
And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision.
স্মরণ কর, আমার বান্দা ইব্রাহীম, ইস্হাক ও ইয়া‘কূবের কথা, উহারা ছিল শক্তিশালী ও সূক্ষ্মদর্শী।
Inna akhlasnahum bikhalisatin thikra alddari
Lo! We purified them with a pure thought, remembrance of the Home (of the Hereafter).
আমি তাহাদেরকে অধিকারী করিয়াছিলাম এক বিশেষ গুণের, উহা ছিল পরলোকের স্মরণ।
Wainnahum AAindana lamina almustafayna alakhyari
Lo! in Our sight they are verily of the elect, the excellent.
অবশ্যই তাহারা ছিল আমার মনোনীত উত্তম বান্দাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
Waothkur ismaAAeela wailyasaAAa watha alkifli wakullun mina alakhyari
And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l - Kifl. All are of the chosen.
স্মরণ কর, ইসমাঈল, আল - ইয়াসা‘আ ও যুল - কিফ্লের কথা, ইহারা প্রত্যেকেই ছিল সজ্জন।
Hatha thikrun wainna lilmuttaqeena lahusna maabin
This is a reminder. And lo! for those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end,
ইহা এক স্মরণীয় বর্ণনা। নিশ্চয়ই মুত্তাকীদের জন্য রহিয়াছে উত্তম আবাস
Jannati AAadnin mufattahatan lahumu alabwabu
Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them,
চিরস্থায়ী জান্নাত, যাহার দ্বার তাহাদের জন্য উন্মুক্ত।
Muttakieena feeha yadAAoona feeha bifakihatin katheeratin washarabin
Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein.
সেখানে তাহারা আসীন হইবে হেলান দিয়া, সেখানে তাহারা বহুবিধ ফলমূল ও পানীয় চাইবে।
WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi atrabun
And with them are those of modest gaze, companions.
এবং তাহাদের পার্শ্বে থাকিবে আনতনয়না সমবয়স্কাগণ।
Hatha ma tooAAadoona liyawmi alhisabi
This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning.
ইহা হিসাব দিবসের জন্য তোমাদেরকে প্রদত্ত প্রতিশ্রুতি।
Inna hatha larizquna ma lahu min nafadin
Lo! this in truth is Our provision, which will never waste away.
ইহা তো আমার দেওয়া রিযিক যাহা নিঃশেষ হইবে না,
Hatha wainna lilttagheena lasharra maabin
This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end,
ইহাই। আর সীমালংঘনকারীদের জন্য রহিয়াছে নিকৃষ্টতম পরিণাম
Jahannama yaslawnaha fabisa almihadu
Hell, where they will burn, an evil resting - place.
জাহান্নাম, সেখানে উহারা প্রবেশ করিবে, কত নিকৃষ্ট ঠিকানা!
Hatha falyathooqoohu hameemun waghassaqun
Here is a boiling and an ice - cold draught, so let them taste it,
ইহা সীমালংঘনকারীদের জন্য। সুতরাং উহারা আস্বাদন করুক ফুটন্ত পানি ও পুঁজ।
Waakharu min shaklihi azwajun
And other (torment) of the kind in pairs (the two extremes)!
আরও আছে এইরূপ বিভিন্ন ধরনের শাস্তি।
Hatha fawjun muqtahimun maAAakum la marhaban bihim innahum saloo alnnari
Here is an army rushing blindly with you. (Those who are already in the Fire say): No word of welcome for them. Lo! they will roast at the Fire.
উহারা বলিবে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! যে ইহা আমাদের সম্মুখীন করিয়াছে, জাহান্নামে তাহার শাস্তি তুমি দ্বিগুণ বর্ধিত কর।’
Qaloo bal antum la marhaban bikum antum qaddamtumoohu lana fabisa alqararu
They say: Nay, but you (misleaders), for you there is no word of welcome. Ye prepared this for us (by your misleading). Now hapless is the plight.
অনুসারীরা বলিবে, ‘বরং তোমরাও, তোমাদের জন্যও অভিনন্দন নাই। তোমরাই তো পূর্বে উহা আমাদের জন্য ব্যবস্থা করিয়াছ। কত নিকৃষ্ট এই আবাসস্থল!’
Qaloo rabbana man qaddama lana hatha fazidhu AAathaban diAAfan fee alnnari
They say: Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for us, oh, give him double portion of the Fire!
উহারা বলিবে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! যে ইহা আমাদের সম্মুখীন করিয়াছে, জাহান্নামে
Waqaloo ma lana la nara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina alashrari
And they say: What aileth us that we behold not men whom we were wont to count among the wicked ?
উহারা আরও বলিবে, ‘আমাদের কী হইল যে, আমরা যে সকল লোককে মন্দ বলিয়া গণ্য করিতাম তাহাদেরকে দেখিতে পাইতেছি না!
Attakhathnahum sikhriyyan am zaghat AAanhumu alabsaru
Did we take them (wrongly) for a laughing - stock, or have our eyes missed them ?
‘তবে কি আমরা উহাদেরকে অহেতুক ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রপের পাত্র মনে করিতাম, না উহাদের ব্যাপারে আমাদের দৃষ্টিবিভ্রম ঘটিয়াছে?’
Inna thalika lahaqqun takhasumu ahli alnnari
Lo! that is very truth: the wrangling of the dwellers in the Fire.
ইহা নিশ্চিত সত্য - জাহান্নামীদের এই বাদ - প্রতিবাদ।
Qul innama ana munthirun wama min ilahin illa Allahu alwahidu alqahharu
Say (unto them, O Muhammad): I am only a warner, and there is no God save Allah, the One, the Absolute,
বল, ‘আমি তো একজন সতর্ককারী মাত্র এবং কোন ইলাহ্ নাই ব্যতীত, যিনি এক, যিনি প্রবল প্রতাপশালী,
Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma alAAazeezu alghaffaru
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Mighty, the Pardoning.
‘যিনি আকাশমণ্ডলী, পৃথিবী ও উহাদের মধ্যবর্তী সমস্ত কিছুর প্রতিপালক, যিনি পরাক্রমশালী, মহাক্ষমাশীল।’
Qul huwa nabaon AAatheemun
Say: It is tremendous tidings
বল, ‘ইহা এক মহাসংবাদ,
Antum AAanhu muAAridoona
Whence ye turn away!
‘যাহা হইতে তোমরা মুখ ফিরাইয়া লইতেছ।
Ma kana liya min AAilmin bialmalai alaAAla ith yakhtasimoona
I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed;
‘ঊর্ধ্বলোকে তাহাদের বাদানুবাদ সম্পর্কে আমার কোন জ্ঞান ছিল না।
In yooha ilayya illa annama ana natheerun mubeenun
It is revealed unto me only that I may be a plain warner.
‘আমার নিকট তো এই ওহী আসিয়াছে যে, আমি একজন স্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী।’
Ith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee khaliqun basharan min teenin
When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire,
স্মরণ কর, তোমার প্রতিপালক ফিরিশ্তাদেরকে বলিয়াছিলেন, ‘আমি মানুষ সৃষ্টি করিতেছি কর্দম হইতে,
Faitha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideena
And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate,
‘যখন আমি উহাকে সুষম করিব এবং উহাতে আমার রূহ্ সঞ্চার করিব, তখন তোমরা উহার প্রতি সিজ্দাবনত হইও।’
Fasajada almalaikatu kulluhum ajmaAAoona
The angels fell down prostrate, every one,
তখন ফিরিশ্তারা সকলেই সিজ্দাবনত হইল -
Illa ibleesa istakbara wakana mina alkafireena
Saving Iblis; he was scornful and became one of the disbelievers.
কেবল ইবলীস ব্যতীত, সে অহংকার করিল এবং কাফিরদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইল।
Qala ya ibleesu ma manaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta am kunta mina alAAaleena
He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands ? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted ?
তিনি বলিলেন, ‘হে ইবলীস! আমি যাহাকে নিজ হাতে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি, তাহার প্রতি সিজদাবনত হইতে তোমাকে কিসে বাধা দিল? তুমি কি ঔদ্ধত্য প্রকাশ করিলে, না তুমি উচ্চ মর্যাদাসম্পন্ন?’
Qala ana khayrun minhu khalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teenin
He said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire, whilst him Thou didst create of clay.
সে বলিল, ‘আমি উহা হইতে শ্রেষ্ঠ। আপনি আমাকে আগুন হইতে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন এবং উহাকে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন কর্দম হইতে।’
Qala faokhruj minha fainnaka rajeemun
He said: Go forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast,
তিনি বলিলেন, ‘তুমি এখান হইতে বাহির হইয়া যাও, নিশ্চয়ই তুমি বিতাড়িত।
Wainna AAalayka laAAnatee ila yawmi alddeeni
And lo! My curse is on thee till the Day of Judgment.
‘এবং তোমার উপর আমার লা‘নত স্থায়ী হইবে, কর্মফল দিবস পর্যন্ত।’
Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona
He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.
সে বলিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! আপনি আমাকে অবকাশ দিন উত্থান দিবস পর্যন্ত।’
Qala fainnaka mina almunthareena
He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved
তিনি বলিলেন, ‘তুমি অবকাশপ্রাপ্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইলে -
Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloomi
Until the day of the time appointed.
‘অবধারিত সময় উপস্থিত হওয়ার দিন পর্যন্ত।’
Qala fabiAAizzatika laoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena
He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,
সে বলিল, ‘আপনার ক্ষমতার শপথ! আমি উহাদের সকলকেই পথভ্রষ্ট করিব,
Illa AAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseena
Save Thy single - minded slaves among them.
‘তবে উহাদের মধ্যে আপনার একনিষ্ঠ বান্দাদেরকে নয়।’
Qala faalhaqqu waalhaqqa aqoolu
He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak,
তিনি বলিলেন, ‘তবে ইহাই সত্য, আর আমি সত্যই বলি -
Laamlaanna jahannama minka wamimman tabiAAaka minhum ajmaAAeena
That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee, together.
‘তোমার দ্বারা ও তোমার অনুসারীদের দ্বারা আমি জাহান্নাম পূর্ণ করিবই।’
Qul ma asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin wama ana mina almutakallifeena
Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for this, and I am no simulating.
বল, ‘আমি ইহার জন্য তোমাদের নিকট কোন প্রতিদান চাই না এবং যাহারা মিথ্যা দাবি করে আমি তাহাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত নই।’
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
Lo! it is naught else than a reminder for all peoples
ইহা তো বিশ্বজগতের জন্য উপদেশ মাত্র।
WalataAAlamunna nabaahu baAAda heenin
And ye will come in time to know the truth thereof.
ইহার সংবাদ তোমরা অবশ্যই জানিবে, কিয়ৎকাল পরে।
