Chapter 81, 29 verses
Itha alshshamsu kuwwirat
যখন সূর্যকে গুটিয়ে নেয়া হবে।
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ
Waitha alnnujoomu inkadarat
আর নক্ষত্ররাজি যখন পতিত হবে।
When the stars fall, losing their lustre;
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ
Waitha aljibalu suyyirat
আর পর্বতগুলোকে যখন সঞ্চালিত করা হবে।
When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ
Waitha alAAisharu AAuttilat
আর যখন দশমাসের গর্ভবতী উষ্ট্রীগুলো উপেক্ষিত হবে।
When the she - camels, ten months with young, are left untended;
وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ
Waitha alwuhooshu hushirat
আর যখন বন্য পশুগুলোকে একত্র করা হবে।
When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);
وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ
Waitha albiharu sujjirat
আর যখন সমুদ্রগুলোকে অগ্নিউত্তাল করা হবে।
When the oceans boil over with a swell;
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ
Waitha alnnufoosu zuwwijat
আর যখন আত্মাগুলোকে (সমগোত্রীয়দের সাথে) মিলিয়ে দেয়া হবে।
When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ
Waitha almawoodatu suilat
আর যখন জীবন্ত কবরস্থ কন্যাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করা হবে।
When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned -
وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ
Biayyi thanbin qutilat
কী অপরাধে তাকে হত্যা করা হয়েছে?
For what crime she was killed;
بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ
Waitha alssuhufu nushirat
আর যখন আমলনামাগুলো প্রকাশ করে দেয়া হবে।
When the scrolls are laid open;
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ
Waitha alssamao kushitat
আর যখন আসমানকে আবরণ মুক্ত করা হবে।
When the world on High is unveiled;
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ
Waitha aljaheemu suAAAAirat
আর জাহান্নামকে যখন প্রজ্জ্বলিত করা হবে।
When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ
Waitha aljannatu ozlifat
আর জান্নাতকে যখন নিকটবর্তী করা হবে।
And when the Garden is brought near; -
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ
AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat
তখন প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিই জানতে পারবে সে কী উপস্থিত করেছে!
(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ
Fala oqsimu bialkhunnasi
আমি কসম করছি পশ্চাদপসারী নক্ষত্রের।
So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede,
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ
Aljawari alkunnasi
যা চলমান, ।
Go straight, or hide;
ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ
Waallayli itha AAasAAasa
আর কসম রাতের, যখন তা বিদায় নেয়।
And the Night as it dissipates;
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ
Waalssubhi itha tanaffasa
আর কসম প্রভাতের, যখন তা আগমন করে।
And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness; -
وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin
নিশ্চয় এ কুরআন সম্মানিত রাসূলের* আনিত বাণী। *জিবরীল (আলাইহিস সালাম)।
Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
Thee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin
যে শক্তিশালী, আরশের মালিকের নিকট মর্যাদাসম্পন্ন।
Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ
MutaAAin thamma ameenin
মান্যবর, সেখানে সে বিশ্বস্ত।
With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ
Wama sahibukum bimajnoonin
আর তোমাদের সাথী* পাগল নয়। *মুহাম্মাদ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম)।
And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ
Walaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeni
আর সে* তাকে** সুস্পষ্ট দিগন্তে দেখেছে। *মুহাম্মাদ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম)।
And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneenin
আর সে তো সম্পর্কে কৃপণ নয়।
Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ
Wama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeemin
আর তা কোন অভিশপ্ত শয়তানের উক্তি নয়।
Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
Faayna tathhaboona
সুতরাং তোমরা কোথায় যাচ্ছ?
When whither go ye?
فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
এটাতো সৃষ্টিকুলের জন্য উপদেশমাত্র।
Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeema
যে তোমাদের মধ্যে সরল পথে চলতে চায়, তার জন্য।
(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ
Wama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
আর তোমরা ইচ্ছা করতে পার না, যদি না সৃষ্টিকুলের রব ইচ্ছা করেন।
But ye shall not will except as Allah wills, - the Cherisher of the Worlds.
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
