Chapter 70, 44 verses
Saala sailun biAAathabin waqiAAin
আল্লাহর নামে শুরু করছি, পরম করুণাময় পরম দয়ালু; একজন অবধারিত শাস্তি সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞাসা করল।
A questioner asked about a Penalty to befall -
Lilkafireena laysa lahu dafiAAun
অস্বীকারকারীদের জন্য; যা প্রতিহত করার কেউ নেই,
The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off, -
Mina Allahi thee almaAAariji
উচ্চ মর্যাদাসমূহের অধিকারী আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে।
(A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent.
TaAAruju almalaikatu waalrroohu ilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfa sanatin
ফেরেশতারা এবং রূহ তাঁর দিকে আরোহণ করে এমন এক দিনে, যার পরিমাণ পঞ্চাশ হাজার বছর।
The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:
Faisbir sabran jameelan
অতএব তুমি উত্তম ধৈর্য ধারণ করো।
Therefore do thou hold Patience, - a Patience of beautiful (contentment).
Innahum yarawnahu baAAeedan
নিশ্চয়ই তারা এটিকে দূরে মনে করে,
They see the (Day) indeed as a far - off (event):
Wanarahu qareeban
আর আমরা এটিকে নিকটবর্তী দেখি।
But We see it (quite) near.
Yawma takoonu alssamao kaalmuhli
সেদিন আকাশ গলিত ধাতুর মতো হয়ে যাবে,
The Day that the sky will be like molten brass,
Watakoonu aljibalu kaalAAihni
এবং পাহাড়গুলো হবে রঙিন পশমের মতো,
And the mountains will be like wool,
Wala yasalu hameemun hameeman
এবং কোনো অন্তরঙ্গ বন্ধু কোনো অন্তরঙ্গ বন্ধুর খোঁজ নেবে না।
And no friend will ask after a friend,
Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu law yaftadee min AAathabi yawmiithin bibaneehi
যদিও তাদেরকে একে অপরকে দেখানো হবে। অপরাধী কামনা করবে, সেদিনের শাস্তি থেকে মুক্তির বিনিময়ে দিতে তার সন্তানদের,
Though they will be put in sight of each other, - the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children,
Wasahibatihi waakheehi
তার স্ত্রীকে, তার ভাইকে,
His wife and his brother,
Wafaseelatihi allatee tuweehi
তার সেই নিকট আত্মীয়দের, যারা তাকে আশ্রয় দিত,
His kindred who sheltered him,
Waman fee alardi jameeAAan thumma yunjeehi
এবং পৃথিবীতে সকলকে; তারপর যেন তা তাকে মুক্তি দেয়।
And all, all that is on earth, - so it could deliver him:
Kalla innaha latha
কখনোই নয়! নিশ্চয়ই তা এক আগুন,
By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell! -
NazzaAAatan lilshshawa
যা মাথার চামড়া তুলে নেয়,
Plucking out (his being) right to the skull! -
TadAAoo man adbara watawalla
তা আহ্বান করবে, যে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিয়েছিল এবং বিমুখ হয়েছিল,
Inviting (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from the Right).
WajamaAAa faawAAa
এবং সম্পদ জমা করেছিল ও সঞ্চয় করে রেখেছিল।
And collect (wealth) and hide it (from use)!
Inna alinsana khuliqa halooAAan
নিশ্চয়ই মানুষকে সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে অস্থির স্বভাবের।
Truly man was created very impatient; -
Itha massahu alshsharru jazooAAan
যখন তাকে অকল্যাণ স্পর্শ করে, তখন সে অধৈর্য হয়ে পড়ে।
Fretful when evil touches him;
Waitha massahu alkhayru manooAAan
এবং যখন তাকে কল্যাণ স্পর্শ করে, তখন সে কৃপণ হয়ে যায়।
And niggardly when good reaches him; -
Illa almusalleena
তবে আদায়কারীরা ব্যতীত,
Not so those devoted to Prayer; -
Allatheena hum AAala salatihim daimoona
যারা তাদের সালাতে অবিচল থাকে,
Those who remain steadfast to their prayer;
Waallatheena fee amwalihim haqqun maAAloomun
এবং যাদের সম্পদে নির্ধারিত অধিকার রয়েছে,
And those in whose wealth is a recognised right.
Lilssaili waalmahroomi
প্রার্থনাকারী এবং বঞ্চিতের জন্য,
For the (needy) who asks and him who is prevented (for some reason from asking);
Waallatheena yusaddiqoona biyawmi alddeeni
এবং যারা প্রতিদান দিবসকে সত্য বলে বিশ্বাস করে,
And those who hold to the truth of the Day of Judgment;
Waallatheena hum min AAathabi rabbihim mushfiqoona
এবং যারা তাদের প্রতিপালকের শাস্তি সম্পর্কে ভীত থাকে।
And those who fear the displeasure of their Lord, -
Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru mamoonin
নিশ্চয়ই তাদের প্রতিপালকের শাস্তি থেকে কেউ নিরাপদ নয়।
For their Lord's displeasure is the opposite of Peace and Tranquillity; -
Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona
এবং যারা তাদের লজ্জাস্থানের হেফাজত করে,
And those who guard their chastity,
Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena
তবে তাদের স্ত্রীদের অথবা যারা তাদের অধিকারভুক্ত তাদের ক্ষেত্রে নয়; কারণ নিশ্চয়ই তারা নিন্দনীয় নয়।
Except with their wives and the (captives) whom their right hands possess, - for (then) they are not to be blamed,
Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona
অতঃপর যে এর বাইরে কামনা করে, তারাই সীমালঙ্ঘনকারী।
But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors; -
Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona
এবং যারা তাদের আমানত ও অঙ্গীকারের প্রতি যত্নবান,
And those who respect their trusts and covenants;
Waallatheena hum bishahadatihim qaimoona
এবং যারা তাদের সাক্ষ্যে অবিচল থাকে,
And those who stand firm in their testimonies;
Waallatheena hum AAala salatihim yuhafithoona
এবং যারা তাদের সালাতের সুরক্ষা করে।
And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship; -
Olaika fee jannatin mukramoona
তারাই সম্মানিত হবে জান্নাতে।
Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens (of Bliss).
Famali allatheena kafaroo qibalaka muhtiAAeena
অতঃপর অবিশ্বাসীদের কী হয়েছে যে তারা তোমার দিকে ছুটে আসে,
Now what is the matter with the Unbelievers that they rush madly before thee -
AAani alyameeni waAAani alshshimali AAizeena
ডান দিক থেকে এবং বাম দিক থেকে, দলে দলে?
From the right and from the left, in crowds?
AyatmaAAu kullu imriin minhum an yudkhala jannata naAAeemin
তাদের প্রত্যেকেই কি আশা করে যে তাকে নেয়ামতপূর্ণ বেহেশতে প্রবেশ করানো হবে?
Does every man of them long to enter the Garden of Bliss?
Kalla inna khalaqnahum mimma yaAAlamoona
কখনোই নয়! নিশ্চয়ই আমরা তাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করেছি তা থেকে, যা তারা জানে।
By no means! For We have created them out of the (base matter) they know!
Fala oqsimu birabbi almashariqi waalmagharibi inna laqadiroona
অতএব পূর্বসমূহ ও পশ্চিমসমূহের প্রতিপালকের শপথ! নিশ্চয়ই আমরা অবশ্যই সক্ষম।
Now I do call to witness the Lord of all points in the East and the West that We can certainly -
AAala an nubaddila khayran minhum wama nahnu bimasbooqeena
তাদের পরিবর্তে তাদের চেয়ে উত্তমদের আনতে; এবং আমরা অক্ষম নই।
Substitute for them better (men) than they; And We are not to be defeated (in Our Plan).
Fatharhum yakhoodoo wayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allathee yooAAadoona
অতএব তাদেরকে ছেড়ে দিন; তারা অর্থহীন আলোচনায় লিপ্ত থাকুক এবং খেলায় মত্ত থাকুক, যতক্ষণ না তারা সেই দিনের সম্মুখীন হয়, যার প্রতিশ্রুতি তাদেরকে দেওয়া হয়েছে।
So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they encounter that Day of theirs which they have been promised! -
Yawma yakhrujoona mina alajdathi siraAAan kaannahum ila nusubin yoofidoona
যেদিন তারা দ্রুত কবরসমূহ থেকে বের হয়ে আসবে, যেন তারা কোনো লক্ষ্যের দিকে ছুটে চলেছে,
The Day whereon they will issue from their sepulchres in sudden haste as if they were rushing to a goal - post (fixed for them), -
KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun thalika alyawmu allathee kanoo yooAAadoona
তাদের দৃষ্টি অবনত থাকবে, লাঞ্ছনা তাদেরকে আচ্ছন্ন করে রাখবে। এ সে দিন, যার প্রতিশ্রুতি তাদেরকে দেওয়া হয়েছিল।
Their eyes lowered in dejection, - ignominy covering them (all over)! such is the Day the which they are promised!
