Chapter 80, 42 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. He frowned and turned away
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).
Because the blind man came unto him.
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?
Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him ?
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
As for him who thinketh himself independent,
To him you attend;
Unto him thou payest regard.
so widmest du dich ihm,
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).
Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).
But as to him who came to you running,
But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose
And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).
And hath fear,
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
From him thou art distracted.
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.
Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment,
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
So let whosoever will pay heed to it,
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),
On honoured leaves
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
Exalted, purified,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
In the hands of scribes (angels).
(Set down) by scribes
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
Honourable and obedient.
Noble and righteous.
edlen, frommen.
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
Man is (self - )destroyed: how ungrateful!
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
From what thing did He create him?
From what thing doth He create him ?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.
From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him,
Then He makes the Path easy for him.
Then maketh the way easy for him,
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.
Then causeth him to die, and burieth him;
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life.
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him.
Keineswegs!
Then let man look at his food:
Let man consider his food:
So schaue der Mensch doch auf seine Nahrung:
We pour forth water in abundance.
How We pour water in showers
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
And We split the earth in clefts.
Then split the earth in clefts
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
And cause the grain to grow therein
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
And grapes and green fodder
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And olives and date-palms,
And olive - trees and palm - trees
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And gardens dense with many trees,
And garden - closes of thick foliage
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And fruits and herbage
And fruits and grasses:
und Früchte und Futter,
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
Provision for you and your cattle.
Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)
But when the Shout cometh
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
On the day when a man fleeth from his brother
And from his mother and his father,
And his mother and his father
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And from his wife and his children.
And his wife and his children,
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.
Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).
Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
On that day faces will be bright as dawn,
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
Laughing, rejoicing at good news;
lachen und sich freuen.
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.
And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them,
Darkness will cover them.
Veiled in darkness,
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
