Hilali & Muhsin Khan

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ta-Sin-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.]

Shakir

Ta Sin Mim.

Deutsch

Ta-Sin-Mim.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

These are the Verses of the manifest Book [(this Qur'an), which was promised by Allah in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), makes things clear].

Shakir

These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.

Deutsch

Dies sind die Zeichen des deutlichen Buches.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

It may be that you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are going to kill yourself with grief, that they do not become believers [in your Risalah (Messengership) i.e. in your Message of Islamic Monotheism].

Shakir

Perhaps you will kill yourself with grief because they do not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

If We will, We could send down to them from the heaven a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.

Shakir

If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven so that their necks should stoop to it.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And never comes there unto them a Reminder as a recent revelation from the Most Gracious (Allah), but they turn away therefrom.

Shakir

And there does not come to them a new reminder from the Beneficent Allah but they turn aside from it.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So they have indeed denied (the truth - this Qur'an), then the news of what they mocked at will come to them.

Shakir

So they have indeed rejected (the truth), therefore the news of that which they mock shall soon come to them.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Do they not observe the earth - how much of every good kind We cause to grow therein?

Shakir

Do they not see the earth, how many of every noble kind We have caused to grow in it?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily, in this is an Ayah (proof or sign), yet most of them (polytheists, pagans who do not believe in Resurrection) are not believers.

Shakir

Most surely there is a sign in that, but most of them will not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Shakir

And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) -

Shakir

And when your Lord called out to Musa, saying: Go to the unjust people,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh): Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?"

Shakir

The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me,

Shakir

He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me).

Shakir

And by breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me);

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me."

Shakir

And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

(Allah) said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily We shall be with you, listening.

Shakir

He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing;

Deutsch

Er sagte: "Keineswegs! So geht denn beide hin mit Unseren Zeichen. Wir sind mit euch und hören zu.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And go both of you to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists),

Shakir

Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds:

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' "

Shakir

Then send with us the children of Israel.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us.

Shakir

(Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man) while you were one of the ingrates."

Shakir

And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message).

Shakir

He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukm (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and made me one of the Messengers.

Shakir

So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And this is the past favour with which you reproach me: that you have enslaved the Children of Israel."

Shakir

And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)?"

Shakir

Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Musa (Moses)] said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty."

Shakir

He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?"

Shakir

(Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Musa (Moses)] said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!"

Shakir

He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!"

Shakir

Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Musa (Moses)] said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!"

Shakir

He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners."

Shakir

Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Musa (Moses)] said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?"

Shakir

He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!"

Shakir

Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest.

Shakir

So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!

Shakir

And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer.

Shakir

(Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery: what is it then that you command?"

Shakir

Who desires to turn you out of your land with his magic; what is it then that you advise?

Deutsch

Was befehlt ihr nun?"

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "Put him off and his brother (for a while), and send callers to the cities;

Shakir

They said: Give him and his brother respite and send heralds into the cities

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer."

Shakir

That they should bring to you every skillful magician.

Deutsch

damit sie dir jeden kenntnisreichen Zauberer herbringen."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed.

Shakir

So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And it was said to the people: "Are you (too) going to assemble?

Shakir

And it was said to the people: Will you gather together?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief] if they are the winners."

Shakir

Haply we may follow the magicians, if they are the vanquishers.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Fir'aun (Pharaoh): "Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?"

Shakir

And when the magicians came, they said to Firon: Shall we get a reward if we are the vanquishers?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)."

Shakir

He said: Yes, and surely you will then be of those who are made near.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Musa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!"

Shakir

Musa said to them: Cast what you are going to cast.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!"

Shakir

So they cast down their cords and their rods and said: By Firon's power, we shall most surely be victorious.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all that they falsely showed!

Shakir

Then Musa cast down his staff and lo! it swallowed up the lies they told.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And the sorcerers fell down prostrate.

Shakir

And the magicians were thrown down prostrate;

Deutsch

Da warfen sich die Zauberer ehrerbietig nieder.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

Shakir

They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds:

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)."

Shakir

The Lord of Musa and Haroun.

Deutsch

den Herrn von Musa und Harun."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all."

Shakir

Said he: You believe in him before I give you permission; most surely he is the chief of you who taught you the magic, so you shall know: certainly I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and certainly I will crucify you all.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return.

Shakir

They said: No harm; surely to our Lord we go back;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Verily we really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers [in Musa (Moses) and in the Monotheism which he has brought from Allah]."

Shakir

Surely we hope that our Lord will forgive us our wrongs because we are the first of the believers.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And We revealed to Musa (Moses), saying: "Depart by night with My slaves, verily you will be pursued."

Shakir

And We revealed to Musa, saying: Go away with My servants travelling by night, surely you will be pursued.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then Fir'aun (Pharaoh) sent callers to (all) the cities.

Shakir

So Firon sent heralds into the cities;

Deutsch

Da sandte Fir'aun in die Städte (Boten), die (die Leute) versammelten:

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

(Saying): "Verily these indeed are but a small band.

Shakir

Most surely these are a small company;

Deutsch

"Diese sind fürwahr (nur) eine kleine Schar;

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And verily, they have done what has enraged us.

Shakir

And most surely they have enraged us;

Deutsch

dennoch lassen sie uns fürwahr ergrimmen.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"But we are a host all assembled, amply fore-warned."

Shakir

And most surely we are a vigilant multitude.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So, We expelled them from gardens and springs,

Shakir

So We turned them out of gardens and springs,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Treasures, and every kind of honourable place.

Shakir

And treasures and goodly dwellings,

Deutsch

von Schätzen und von trefflicher Stätte.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Thus [We turned them (Pharaoh's people) out] and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them.

Shakir

Even so. And We gave them as a heritage to the children of Israel.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So they pursued them at sunrise.

Shakir

Then they pursued them at sunrise.

Deutsch

Dann folgten sie ihnen bei Sonnenaufgang.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa (Moses) said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

Shakir

So when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa cried out: Most surely we are being overtaken.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

[Musa (Moses)] said: "Nay, verily with me is my Lord. He will guide me."

Shakir

He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then We revealed to Musa (Moses) (saying): "Strike the sea with your stick." And it parted, and each separate part (of that sea water) became like huge mountain.

Shakir

Then We revealed to Musa: Strike the sea with your staff. So it had cloven asunder, and each part was like a huge mound.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then We brought near the others [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) party] to that place.

Shakir

And We brought near, there, the others.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And We saved Musa (Moses) and all those with him.

Shakir

And We saved Musa and those with him, all of them.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then We drowned the others.

Shakir

Then We drowned the others.

Deutsch

Hierauf ließen Wir die anderen ertrinken.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily in this is indeed a sign (or a proof), yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Shakir

And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham).

Shakir

And recite to them the story of Ibrahim.

Deutsch

Und verlies ihnen die Kunde von Ibrahim.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?"

Shakir

When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted."

Shakir

They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "Do they hear you, when you call on (them)?

Shakir

He said: Do they hear you when you call?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?"

Shakir

Or do they profit you or cause you harm?

Deutsch

Oder nützen sie euch, oder schaden?"

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "(Nay) but we found our fathers doing so."

Shakir

They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so.

Deutsch

Sie sagten: "Nein! Vielmehr fanden wir (bereits) unsere Väter desgleichen tun."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping -

Shakir

He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping:

Deutsch

Er sagte: "Was meint ihr wohl zu dem, was ihr zu verehren pflegt,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"You and your ancient fathers?

Shakir

You and your ancient sires.

Deutsch

ihr und eure Vorväter?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Verily they are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists),

Shakir

Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me.

Shakir

Who created me, then He has shown me the way:

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink.

Shakir

And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink:

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.

Shakir

And when I am sick, then He restores me to health

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again).

Shakir

And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life;

Deutsch

und Der mich sterben läßt und hierauf wieder lebendig macht,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And Who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection).

Shakir

And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

My Lord! Bestow Hukm (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous.

Shakir

My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And grant me an honourable mention in later generations.

Shakir

And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight.

Shakir

And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring.

Shakir

And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected.

Shakir

And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

Shakir

The day on which property will not avail, nor sons

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]."

Shakir

Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil).

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).

Shakir

And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil),

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring.

Shakir

And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship.

Shakir

And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?"

Shakir

Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves?

Deutsch

anstatt Allahs?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), they and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error).

Shakir

So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together.

Shakir

And the hosts of the Shaitan, all.

Deutsch

und die Heerscharen Iblis allesamt.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They will say while contending therein,

Shakir

They shall say while they contend therein:

Deutsch

Sie sagen, während sie darin miteinander streiten:

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error,

Shakir

By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error,

Deutsch

"Bei Allah, wir befanden uns wahrlich in deutlichem Irrtum,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists);

Shakir

When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors].

Shakir

And none but the guilty led us astray;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Now we have no intercessors,

Shakir

So we have no intercessors,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Nor a close friend (to help us).

Shakir

Nor a true friend;

Deutsch

und auch keinen warmherzigen Freund.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

(Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers!

Shakir

But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily, your Lord, He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Shakir

And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"So keep your duty to Allah, fear Him and obey me."

Shakir

So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me.

So fürchtet Allah und gehorcht mir."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "Shall we believe in you, when the meanest (of the people) follow you?"

Shakir

They said: Shall we believe in you while the meanest follow you?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "And what knowledge have I of what they used to do?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "If you cease not, O Nuh (Noah) you will surely be among those stoned (to death)."

Shakir

They said: If you desist not, O Nuh, you shall most certainly be of those stoned to death.

He said: "My Lord! Verily, my people have belied me.

Shakir

He said: My Lord! Surely my people give me the lie!

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Therefore judge You between me and them, and save me and those of the believers who are with me."

Shakir

Therefore judge Thou between me and them with a (just) judgment, and deliver me and those who are with me of the believers.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.

Shakir

So We delivered him and those with him in the laden ark.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then We drowned the rest (disbelievers) thereafter.

Shakir

Then We drowned the rest afterwards

Deutsch

Hierauf ließen Wir alsdann die übrigen ertrinken.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them?

Shakir

Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do:

Baut ihr denn auf jeder Anhöhe ein Wahrzeichen und treibt ein sinnloses Spiel

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever.

Shakir

And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And when you seize (somebody), seize you (him) as tyrants?

"Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day."

Shakir

Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach.

Shakir

They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And we are not going to be punished."

Shakir

And we are not going to be punished.

Deutsch

Und wir werden nicht gestraft werden."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

"Who make mischief in the land, and reform not."

Shakir

Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "You are only of those bewitched!

Shakir

They said: You are only of the deluded ones;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful."

Shakir

You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "Here is a she-camel: it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known.

Shakir

He said: This is a she - camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And touch her not with harm, lest the torment of a Great Day should seize you."

Shakir

And do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a grievous day should overtake you.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

But they killed her, and then they became regretful.

Shakir

But they hamstrung her, then regretted;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Shakir

And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "If you cease not O Lut (Lot)! verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!"

Shakir

They said: If you desist not, O Lut! you shall surely be of those who are expelled.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy).

Shakir

He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do."

Shakir

My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So We saved him and his family, all,

Shakir

So We delivered him and his followers all,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind.

Shakir

Except an old woman, among those who remained behind.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then afterward We destroyed the others.

Shakir

Then We utterly destroyed the others.

Deutsch

Hierauf vernichteten Wir die anderen.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned!

Shakir

And We rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain on those warned.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Shakir

And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

The dwellers of Al-Aikah [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers.

Die Bewohner des Dickichts bezichtigte die Gesandten der Lüge.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others).

Shakir

Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish;

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And weigh with the true and straight balance.

Shakir

And weigh (things) with a right balance,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land.

Shakir

And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old."

Shakir

And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They said: "You are only one of those bewitched!

Shakir

They said: You are only of those deluded;

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars!

Shakir

And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

"So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!"

Shakir

Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do."

Shakir

He said: My Lord knows best what you do.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them. Indeed that was the torment of a Great Day.

Shakir

But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Shakir

Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

Shakir

And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And truly, this (the Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists),

Shakir

And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Deutsch

Und er ist ganz sicher eine Offenbarung des Herrn der Weltenbewohner;

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibril (Gabriel)] has brought down

Shakir

The Faithful Spirit has descended with it,

Deutsch

mit dem der vertrauenswürdige Geist herabgekommen ist

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Upon your heart (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that you may be (one) of the warners,

Shakir

Upon your heart that you may be of the warners

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

In the plain Arabic language.

Shakir

In plain Arabic language.

Deutsch

in deutlicher arabischer Sprache.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And verily, it (the Qur'an, and its revelation to Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is (announced) in the Scriptures [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] of former people.

Shakir

And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam رضي الله عنه who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?

Shakir

Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And if We had revealed it (this Qur'an) unto any of the non-Arabs,

Shakir

And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it.

Shakir

So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Qur'an) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners).

Shakir

Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment.

Shakir

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not.

Shakir

And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive;

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then they will say: "Can we be respited?"

Shakir

Then they will say: Shall we be respited?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on?

Shakir

What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment?

Deutsch

Wünschen sie denn Unsere Strafe zu beschleunigen?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Tell Me, (even) if We do let them enjoy for years,

Shakir

Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years,

Deutsch

Was meinst du wohl?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised,

Shakir

Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them.

Shakir

That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And never did We destroy a township but it had its warners

Shakir

And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust.

Shakir

To remind, and We are never unjust.

Deutsch

(dies) als Ermahnung. Und nie sind Wir ungerecht.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Qur'an) down.

Shakir

And the Shaitans have not come down with it.

Deutsch

Nicht die Satane sind mit ihm herabgekommen;

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it).

Shakir

And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it).

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it.

Shakir

Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it.

Deutsch

Sie sind vom Hören fürwahr ausgeschlossen.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you should be among those who receive punishment.

Shakir

So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished.

Deutsch

So rufe neben Allah keinen anderen Gott an, sonst wirst du zu den Gestraften gehören.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And warn your tribe (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of near kindred.

Shakir

And warn your nearest relations,

Deutsch

Und warne die Nächsten deiner Sippe.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you.

Shakir

And be kind to him who follows you of the believers.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do."

Shakir

But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful,

Shakir

And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Who sees you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) when you stand up (alone at night for Tahajjud prayers).

Shakir

Who sees you when you stand up.

Deutsch

Der dich sieht, wenn du aufrecht stehst,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And your movements among those who fall prostrate (to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers).

Shakir

And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Verily He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

Shakir

Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Deutsch

Er ist ja der Allhörende und Allwissende.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend?

Shakir

Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

They descend on every lying, sinful person.

Shakir

They descend upon every lying, sinful one,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the Unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars.

Shakir

They incline their ears, and most of them are liars.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

As for the poets, the erring ones follow them,

Shakir

And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them.

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

See you not that they speak about every subject (praising people - right or wrong) in their poetry?

Shakir

Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley?

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

And that they say what they do not do.

Shakir

And that they say that which they do not do,

Deutsch

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged [by replying back in poetry to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims)]. And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned.

Shakir

Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back.

Deutsch
