This is the Book (the Qur'an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].

Thalika alkitabu la rayba feehi hudan lilmuttaqeena

ইহা সেই কিতাব; ইহাতে কোন সন্দেহ নাই, মুত্তাকীদের জন্য ইহা পথ - নির্দেশ,
Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what We have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allah's Cause - Jihad].
And who believe in (the Qur'an and the Sunnah ) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and in that which was sent down before you [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell).
Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, (i.e. they are closed from accepting Allah's Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment.
In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies.
And when it is said to them (hypocrites): "Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, Al-Ansar and Al-Muhajirun) have believed," they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not.

Waitha qeela lahum aminoo kamaamana alnnasu qaloo anuminu kamaamana alssufahao ala innahum humu alssufahao walakin la yaAAlamoona

যখন তাহাদেরকে বলা হয়, যে সকল লোক ঈমান আনিয়াছে তোমরাও তাহাদের মত ঈমান আনয়ন কর, তাহারা বলে, ‘নির্বোধগণ যেরূপ ঈমান আনিয়াছে আমরাও কি সেইরূপ ঈমান আনিব?’ সাবধান! ইহারাই নির্বোধ, কিন্তু ইহারা জানে না।
And when they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe," but when they are alone with their Shayatin (devils - polytheists, hypocrites), they say: "Truly, we are with you; verily, we were but mocking."
যখন তাহারা মু’মিনগণের সংস্পর্শে আসে তখন বলে, ‘আমরা ঈমান আনিয়াছি’; আর যখন তাহারা নিভৃতে তাহাদের শয়তানদের সঙ্গে মিলিত হয় তখন বলে, ‘আমরা তো তোমাদের সঙ্গেই রহিয়াছি; আমরা শুধু তাহাদের সঙ্গে ঠাট্টা - তামাশা করিয়া থাকি।’
Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness. (So) they could not see.
তাহাদের উপমা : যেমন এক ব্যক্তি অগ্নি করিল; উহা যখন তাহার চতুর্দিক আলোকিত করিল তখন তাহাদের জ্যোতি অপসারিত করিলেন এবং তাহাদেরকে ঘোর অন্ধকারে ফেলিয়া দিলেন, তাহারা কিছুই দেখিতে পায় না -
They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right Path).

Summun bukmun AAumyun fahum la yarjiAAoona

صُمٌّۢ بُكْمٌ عُمْىٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunder-clap for fear of death. But Allah ever encompasses the disbelievers (i.e. Allah will gather them all together).

Aw kasayyibin mina alssamai feehi thulumatun waraAAdun wabarqun yajAAaloona asabiAAahum fee athanihim mina alssawaAAiqi hathara almawti waAllahu muheetun bialkafireena

কিংবা যেমন আকাশের বর্ষণমুখর ঘন মেঘ - যাহাতে রহিয়াছে ঘোর অন্ধকার, বজ্রধ্বনি ও বিদ্যুৎ - চমক। বজ্রধ্বনিতে মৃত্যুভয়ে তাহারা তাহাদের কর্ণে অঙ্গুলি প্রবেশ করায়। কাফিরদের পরিবেষ্টন করিয়া রহিয়াছেন।
The lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them, they walk therein, and when darkness covers them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly, Allah has power over all things.
Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped).

Allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda firashan waalssamaa binaan waanzala mina alssamai maan faakhraja bihi mina alththamarati rizqan lakum fala tajAAaloo lillahi andadan waantum taAAlamoona

যিনি পৃথিবীকে তোমাদের জন্য বিছানা ও আকাশকে ছাদ করিয়াছেন এবং আকাশ হইতে পানি বর্ষণ করিয়া তদ্দ্বারা তোমাদের জীবিকার জন্য ফলমূল উৎপাদন করেন। সুতরাং তোমরা জানিয়া - শুনিয়া কাহাকেও র সমকক্ষ দাঁড় করাইও না।
And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'an) to Our slave (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.

Wain kuntum fee raybin mimma nazzalna AAala AAabdina fatoo bisooratin min mithlihi waodAAoo shuhadaakum min dooni Allahi in kuntum sadiqeena

আমি আমার বান্দার প্রতি যাহা অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছি তাহাতে তোমাদের কোন সন্দেহ থাকিলে তোমরা ইহার অনুরূপ কোন সূরা আনয়ন কর এবং তোমরা যদি সত্যবাদী হও তবে ব্যতীত তোমাদের সকল সাহায্যকারীকে আহ্বান কর।
And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: "This is what we were provided with before," and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives) and they will abide therein forever.
Transliteration
Wabashshiri allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati anna lahum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu kullama ruziqoo minha min thamaratin rizqan qaloo hatha allathee ruziqna min qablu waotoo bihi mutashabihan walahum feeha azwajun mutahharatun wahum feeha khalidoona

যাহারা ঈমান আনয়ন করে ও সৎকর্ম করে তাহাদেরকে শুভ সংবাদ দাও যে, তাহাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে জান্নাত - যাহার নিম্নদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত। যখনই তাহাদেরকে ফলমূল খাইতে দেওয়া হইবে তখনই তাহারা বলিবে, ‘আমাদেরকে পূর্বে জীবিকারূপে যাহা দেওয়া হইত ইহা তো তাহাই; তাহাদেরকে অনুরূপ ফলই দেওয়া হইবে এবং সেখানে তাহাদের জন্য পবিত্র সঙ্গিনী রহিয়াছে, তাহারা সেখানে স্থায়ী হইবে।
Verily, Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito or so much more when it is bigger (or less when it is smaller) than it. And as for those who believe, they know that it is the Truth from their Lord, but as for those who disbelieve, they say: "What did Allah intend by this parable?" By it He misleads many, and many He guides thereby. And He misleads thereby only those who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah ).
Transliteration
Inna Allaha la yastahyee an yadriba mathalan ma baAAoodatan fama fawqaha faamma allatheena amanoo fayaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu min rabbihim waamma allatheena kafaroo fayaqooloona matha arada Allahu bihatha mathalan yudillu bihi katheeran wayahdee bihi katheeran wama yudillu bihi illa alfasiqeena

মশা কিংবা তদপেক্ষা ক্ষুদ্র কোন বস্তুর উপমা দিতে সংকোচ বোধ করেন না। সুতরাং যাহারা ঈমান আনিয়াছে তাহারা জানে যে, নিশ্চয়ই ইহা সত্য - যাহা তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে আসিয়াছে। কিন্তু যাহারা তাহারা বলে, কী অভিপ্রায়ে এই উপমা পেশ করিয়াছেন? ইহা দ্বারা অনেককেই তিনি বিভ্রান্ত করেন, আবার বহু লোককে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন। বস্তুত তিনি পথ - পরিত্যাগকারীগণ ব্যতীত আর কাহাকেও বিভ্রান্ত করেন না -
Those who break Allah's Covenant after ratifying it, and sever what Allah has ordered to be joined (as regards Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism, and to practise its laws on the earth and also as regards keeping good relations with kith and kin ), and do mischief on earth, it is they who are the losers.

Allatheena yanqudoona AAahda Allahi min baAAdi meethaqihi wayaqtaAAoona ma amara Allahu bihi an yoosala wayufsidoona fee alardi olaika humu alkhasiroona

যাহারা র সঙ্গে দৃঢ় অঙ্গীকারে আবদ্ধ হইবার পর উহা ভঙ্গ করে, যে সম্পর্ক অক্ষুণ্ন রাখিতে আদেশ করিয়াছেন তাহা ছিন্ন করে এবং দুনিয়ায় অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করিয়া বেড়ায়, তাহারাই ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত।
How can you disbelieve in Allah? seeing that you were dead and He gave you life. Then He will give you death, then again will bring you to life (on the Day of Resurrection) and then unto Him you will return (See V.40:11)
He it is Who created for you all that is on earth. Then He rose over (Istawa) towards the heaven and made them seven heavens and He is the All-Knower of everything.
Transliteration
Huwa allathee khalaqa lakum ma fee alardi jameeAAan thumma istawa ila alssamai fasawwahunna sabAAa samawatin wahuwa bikulli shayin AAaleemun

তিনি পৃথিবীর সবকিছু তোমাদের জন্য সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন, তৎপর তিনি আকাশের দিকে মনোসংযোগ করেন এবং উহাকে সপ্তাকাশে বিন্যস্ত করেন; তিনি সর্ববিষয়ে সবিশেষ অবহিত।
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks and sanctify You." He (Allah) said: "I know that which you do not know."

Waith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee jaAAilun fee alardi khaleefatan qaloo atajAAalu feeha man yufsidu feeha wayasfiku alddimaa wanahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wanuqaddisu laka qala innee aAAlamu ma la taAAlamoona

স্মরণ কর, যখন তোমার প্রতিপালক ফিরিশতাদের বলিলেন, ‘আমি পৃথিবীতে প্রতিনিধি সৃষ্টি করিতেছি’, তাহারা বলিল, ‘আপনি কি সেখানে এমন কাহাকেও সৃষ্টি করিবেন, যে অশান্তি ঘটাইবে ও রক্তপাত করিবে? আমরাই তো আপনার সপ্রশংস স্তুতিগান ও পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা করি। তিনি বলিলেন, ‘নিশ্চয়ই আমি যাহা জানি তাহা তোমরা জান না।’
And He taught Adam all the names (of everything) , then He showed them to the angels and said, "Tell Me the names of these if you are truthful."

WaAAallama adama alasmaa kullaha thumma AAaradahum AAala almalaikati faqala anbioonee biasmai haolai in kuntum sadiqeena

আর তিনি আদমকে যাবতীয় নাম শিক্ষা দিলেন, তারপর সেই সমুদয় ফিরিশতাদের সম্মুখে প্রকাশ করিলেন এবং বলিলেন, ‘এই সমুদয়ের নাম আমাকে বলিয়া দাও, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হও।’
He said: "O Adam! Inform them of their names," and when he had them of their names, He said: "Did I not tell you that I know the Ghaib (Unseen) in the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you have been concealing?"
Transliteration
Qala yaadamu anbihum biasmaihim falamma anbaahum biasmaihim qala alam aqul lakum innee aAAlamu ghayba alssamawati waalardi waaAAlamu ma tubdoona wama kuntum taktumoona

তিনি বলিলেন, ‘হে আদম! তাহাদেরকে এই সকল নাম বলিয়া দাও।’ সে তাহাদেরকে এই সকলের নাম বলিয়া দিলে তিনি বলিলেন, ‘আমি কি তোমাদেরকে বলি নাই যে, আকাশমণ্ডল ও পৃথিবীর বস্তু সম্বন্ধে আমি নিশ্চিতভাবে অবহিত এবং তোমরা যাহা ব্যক্ত কর বা গোপন রাখ আমি তাহাও জানি?’
And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.". And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah).
Transliteration
Waith qulna lilmalaikati osjudoo liadama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba waistakbara wakana mina alkafireena

যখন আমি ফিরিশতাদের বলিলাম, ‘আদমকে সিজ্দা কর’, তখন ইব্লীস ব্যতীত সকলেই সিজ্দা করিল; সে অমান্য করিল ও অহংকার করিল। সুতরাং সে কাফিরদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইল।
And We said: "O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight, of things therein as wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimun (wrong-doers)."
এবং আমি বলিলাম, ‘হে আদম! তুমি ও তোমার স্ত্রী জান্নাতে বসবাস কর এবং যেথা ইচ্ছা স্বচ্ছন্দে আহার কর, কিন্তু এই বৃক্ষের নিকটবর্তী হইও না ; হইলে তোমরা অন্যায়কারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইবে।’
Then the Shaitan (Satan) made them slip therefrom (the Paradise), and got them out from that in which they were. We said: "Get you down, all, with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time."
কিন্তু শয়তান উহা হইতে তাহাদের পদস্খলন ঘটাইল এবং তাহারা যেখানে ছিল সেখান হইতে তাহাদেরকে বহিষ্কার করিল। আমি বলিলাম, ‘তোমরা একে অন্যের শত্রুরূপে নামিয়া যাও, পৃথিবীতে কিছুকালের জন্য তোমাদের বসবাস ও জীবিকা রহিল।’
Then Adam received from his Lord Words. And his Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful.
Transliteration
Fatalaqqaadamu min rabbihi kalimatin fataba AAalayhi innahu huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu

অতঃপর আদম তাহার প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে কিছু বাণী প্রাপ্ত হইল। তাহার প্রতি ক্ষমাপরবশ হইলেন। নিশ্চয়ই তিনি অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।
We said: "Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.
আমি বলিলাম, ‘তোমরা সকলেই এই স্থান হইতে নামিয়া যাও। পরে যখন আমার পক্ষ হইতে তোমাদের নিকট সৎপথের কোন নির্দেশ আসিবে তখন যাহারা আমার সৎপথের নির্দেশ অনুসরণ করিবে তাহাদের কোন ভয় নাই এবং তাহারা দুঃখিতও হইবে না।’
But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) - such are the dwellers of the Fire. They shall abide therein forever.
O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfil (your obligations to) My Covenant (with you) so that I fulfil (My Obligations to) your covenant (with Me), and fear none but Me.
হে বনী ইসরাঈল! আমার সেই অনুগ্রহকে তোমরা স্মরণ কর যদ্দ্বারা আমি তোমাদেরকে অনুগৃহীত করিয়াছি এবং আমার সঙ্গে তোমাদের অঙ্গীকার পূর্ণ কর, আমিও তোমাদের সঙ্গে আমার অঙ্গীকার পূর্ণ করিব। আর তোমরা শুধু আমাকেই ভয় কর।
And believe in what I have sent down (this Qur'an), confirming that which is with you, [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], and be not the first to disbelieve therein, and buy [get (تاخذ اجرا)] not with My Verses [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] a small price (i.e. getting a small gain by selling My Verses), and fear Me and Me Alone. (Tafsir At-Tabari ).
আমি যাহা অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছি তোমরা তাহাতে ঈমান আন। ইহা তোমাদের নিকট যাহা আছে উহার প্রত্যায়নকারী। আর তোমরাই উহার প্রথম প্রত্যাখ্যানকারী হইও না এবং আমার আয়াতের বিনিময়ে তুচ্ছ মূল্য গ্রহণ করিও না। তোমরা শুধু আমাকেই ভয় কর।
And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth [i.e. Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is Allah's Messenger and his qualities are written in your Scriptures, the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] while you know (the truth).
Enjoin you Al-Birr (piety and righteousness and each and every act of obedience to Allah) on the people and you forget (to practise it) yourselves, while you recite the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]! Have you then no sense?
And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi'un [i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise) and in His Warnings (Hell)].

WaistaAAeenoo bialssabri waalssalati wainnaha lakabeeratun illa AAala alkhashiAAeena

তোমরা ধৈর্য ও সালাতের মাধ্যমে সাহায্য প্রার্থনা কর এবং ইহা বিনীতগণ ব্যতীত আর সকলের নিকট নিশ্চিতভাবে কঠিন।
O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you and that I preferred you to the 'Alamin [mankind and jinn (of your time period, in the past)].
And fear a Day (of Judgement) when a person shall not avail another, nor will intercession be accepted from him nor will compensation be taken from him nor will they be helped.
তোমরা সেই দিনকে ভয় কর যেদিন কেহ কাহারও কোন কাজে আসিবে না, কাহারও সুপারিশ গ্রহণ করা হইবে না, কাহারও নিকট হইতে বিনিময় গৃহীত হইবে না এবং তাহারা কোন প্রকার সাহায্যপ্রাপ্তও হইবে না।
And (remember) when We delivered you from Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, who were afflicting you with a horrible torment, killing your sons and sparing your women, and therein was a mighty trial from your Lord.

Waith najjaynakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi yuthabbihoona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun

স্মরণ কর, যখন আমি ফির‘আওনী সম্প্রদায় হইতে তোমাদেরকে নিষ্কৃতি দিয়াছিলাম, যাহারা তোমাদের পুত্রগণকে যবেহ্ করিয়া ও তোমাদের নারীগণকে জীবিত রাখিয়া তোমাদেরকে মর্মান্তিক যন্ত্রণা দিত; এবং উহাতে তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ হইতে এক মহাপরীক্ষা ছিল;
And (remember) when We separated the sea for you and saved you and drowned Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people while you were looking (at them, when the sea-water covered them).

Waith faraqna bikumu albahra faanjaynakum waaghraqnaala firAAawna waantum tanthuroona

যখন তোমাদের জন্য সাগরকে দ্বিধাবিভক্ত করিয়াছিলাম এবং তোমাদেরকে উদ্ধার করিয়াছিলাম ও ফির‘আওনী সম্প্রদায়কে নিমজ্জিত করিয়াছিলাম আর তোমরা উহা প্রত্যক্ষ করিতেছিলে।
And (remember) when We appointed for Musa (Moses) forty nights, and (in his absence) you took the calf (for worship), and you were Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).

Waith waAAadna moosa arbaAAeena laylatan thumma ittakhathtumu alAAijla min baAAdihi waantum thalimoona

যখন মূসার জন্য চল্লিশ রাত্রি নির্ধারিত করিয়াছিলাম, তাহার প্রস্থানের পর তোমরা তখন গোবৎসকে উপাস্যরূপে গ্রহণ করিয়াছিলে; আর তোমরা তো ।
And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Verily, you have wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf. So turn in repentance to your Creator and kill yourselves (the innocent kill the wrongdoers among you), that will be better for you with your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance. Truly, He is the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.

Waith qala moosa liqawmihi ya qawmi innakum thalamtum anfusakum biittikhathikumu alAAijla fatooboo ila bariikum faoqtuloo anfusakum thalikum khayrun lakum AAinda bariikum fataba AAalaykum innahu huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu

আর যখন মূসা আপন সম্প্রদায়ের লোককে বলিল, ‘হে আমার সম্প্রদায়! গো - বৎসকে উপাস্যরূপে গ্রহণ করিয়া তোমরা নিজেদের প্রতি ঘোর অত্যাচার করিয়াছ, সুতরাং তোমরা তোমাদের স্রষ্টার পানে ফিরিয়া যাও এবং তোমরা নিজেদেরকে হত্যা কর। তোমাদের স্রষ্টার নিকট ইহাই শ্রেয়। তিনি তোমাদের প্রতি ক্ষমাপরবশ হইবেন। তিনি অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।’
And (remember) when you said: "O Musa (Moses)! We shall never believe in you until we see Allah plainly." But you were seized with a thunder-bolt (lightning) while you were looking.
Transliteration
Waith qultum ya moosa lan numina laka hatta nara Allaha jahratan faakhathatkumu alssaAAiqatu waantum tanthuroona

- যখন তোমরা বলিয়াছিলে, ‘হে মূসা! আমরা কে প্রত্যক্ষভাবে না দেখা পর্যন্ত তোমাকে কখনও বিশ্বাস করিব না’, তখন তোমরা বজ্রাহত হইয়াছিলে আর তোমরা নিজেরাই দেখিতেছিলে।
And We shaded you with clouds and sent down on you Al-Manna and the quails, (saying): "Eat of the good lawful things We have provided for you," (but they rebelled). And they did not wrong Us but they wronged themselves.
Transliteration
Wathallalna AAalaykumu alghamama waanzalna AAalaykumu almanna waalssalwa kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum wamathalamoona walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

আমি মেঘ দ্বারা তোমাদের উপর ছায়া বিস্তার করিলাম এবং তোমাদের নিকট মান্না ও সাল্ওয়া প্রেরণ করিলাম। বলিয়াছিলাম, ‘তোমাদেরকে যে উত্তম জীবিকা দান করিয়াছি তাহা হইতে আহার কর।’ তাহারা ‘আমার প্রতি কোন জুলুম করে নাই, বরং তাহারা তাহাদের প্রতিই জুলুম করিয়াছিল।’
And (remember) when We said: "Enter this town (Jerusalem) and eat bountifully therein with pleasure and delight wherever you wish, and enter the gate in prostration (or bowing with humility) and say: 'Forgive us,' and We shall forgive you your sins and shall increase (reward) for the good-doers."
স্মরণ কর, যখন আমি বলিলাম, ‘এই জনপদে প্রবেশ কর, যেথা ইচ্ছা স্বচ্ছন্দে আহার কর, নতশিরে প্রবেশ কর দ্বার দিয়া এবং বল : ‘ক্ষমা চাই’। ‘আমি তোমাদের অপরাধ ক্ষমা করিব এবং সৎকর্মপরায়ণ লোকদের প্রতি আমার দান বৃদ্ধি করিব।’
But those who did wrong changed the word from that which had been told to them for another, so We sent upon the wrong-doers Rijz (a punishment) from the heaven because of their rebelling against Allah's obedience. (Tafsir At-Tabari).
কিন্তু যাহারা অন্যায় করিয়াছিল তাহারা তাহাদেরকে যাহা বলা হইয়াছিল তাহার পরিবর্তে অন্য কথা বলিল। সুতরাং অনাচারীদের প্রতি আমি আকাশ হইতে শাস্তি প্রেরণ করিলাম, কারণ তাহারা সত্য ত্যাগ করিয়াছিল।
And (remember) when Musa (Moses) asked for water for his people, We said: "Strike the stone with your stick." Then gushed forth therefrom twelve springs. Each (group of) people knew its own place for water. "Eat and drink of that which Allah has provided and do not act corruptly, making mischief on the earth."
স্মরণ কর, যখন মূসা তাহার সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য পানি প্রার্থনা করিল, আমি বলিলাম, ‘তোমার লাঠি দ্বারা পাথরে আঘাত কর।’ ফলে উহা হইতে দ্বাদশ প্রস্রবণ প্রবাহিত হইল। প্রত্যেক গোত্র নিজ নিজ পান - স্থান চিনিয়া লইল। বলিলাম, - প্রদত্ত জীবিকা হইতে তোমরা পানাহার কর এবং দুষ্কৃতিকারীরূপে পৃথিবীতে নৈরাজ্য সৃষ্টি করিয়া বেড়াইও না।
And (remember) when you said, "O Musa (Moses)! We cannot endure one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth grows, its herbs, its cucumbers, its Fum (wheat or garlic), its lentils and its onions." He said, "Would you exchange that which is better for that which is lower? Go you down to any town and you shall find what you want!" And they were covered with humiliation and misery, and they drew on themselves the Wrath of Allah. That was because they used to disbelieve the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations etc.) of Allah and killed the Prophets wrongfully. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress the bounds (in their disobedience to Allah, i.e. commit crimes and sins).
Transliteration
Waith qultum ya moosa lan nasbira AAalataAAamin wahidin faodAAu lana rabbaka yukhrij lana mimma tunbitu alardu min baqliha waqiththaiha wafoomiha waAAadasiha wabasaliha qala atastabdiloona allathee huwa adna biallathee huwa khayrun ihbitoo misran fainna lakum ma saaltum waduribat AAalayhimu alththillatu waalmaskanatu wabaoo bighadabin mina Allahi thalika biannahum kanoo yakfuroona biayati Allahi wayaqtuloona alnnabiyyeena bighayri alhaqqi thalika bima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoona

যখন তোমরা বলিয়াছিলে, ‘হে মূসা! আমরা একইরকম খাদ্যে কখনও ধৈর্য ধারণ করিব না; সুতরাং তুমি তোমার প্রতিপালকের নিকট আমাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা কর - তিনি যেন ভূমিজাত দ্রব্য শাক - সব্জি, কাঁকুড়, গম, মসুর ও পেঁয়াজ আমাদের জন্য উৎপাদন করেন।’ মূসা বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি উৎকৃষ্টতর বস্তুকে নিকৃষ্টতর বস্তুর সঙ্গে বদল করিতে চাও? তবে কোন নগরে অবতরণ কর। তোমরা যাহা চাও নিশ্চয়ই তাহা সেখানে আছে।’ তাহারা লাঞ্ছনা ও দারিদ্র্যগ্রস্ত হইল এবং তাহারা র ক্রোধের পাত্র হইল। ইহা এইজন্য যে, তাহারা র আয়াতকে অস্বীকার করিত এবং নবীগণকে অন্যায়ভাবে হত্যা করিত। অবাধ্যতা ও সীমালংঘন করিবার জন্যই তাহাদের এই পরিণতি হইয়াছিল।
Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
নিশ্চয়ই যাহারা ঈমান আনিয়াছে, যাহারা ইয়াহূদী হইয়াছে এবং খ্রিস্টান ও সাবিঈন - যাহারাই ও আখিরাতে ঈমান আনে ও সৎকাজ করে, তাহাদের জন্য পুরস্কার আছে তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট। তাহাদের কোন ভয় নাই এবং তাহারা দুঃখিতও হইবে না।
And (O Children of Israel, remember) when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (saying): "Hold fast to that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein so that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).
Transliteration
Waith akhathna meethaqakum warafaAAna fawqakumu alttoora khuthoo maataynakum biquwwatin waothkuroo ma feehi laAAallakum tattaqoona

স্মরণ কর, যখন তোমাদের অঙ্গীকার নিয়াছিলাম এবং ‘তূর’কে তোমাদের ঊর্ধ্বে উত্তোলন করিয়াছিলাম; বলিয়াছিলাম, ‘আমি যাহা দিলাম দৃঢ়তার সঙ্গে গ্রহণ কর এবং তাহাতে যাহা আছে তাহা স্মরণ রাখ, যাহাতে তোমরা সাবধান হইয়া চলিতে পার।’
And indeed you knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath (i.e. Saturday). We said to them: "Be you monkeys, despised and rejected."
And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: "Verily, Allah commands you that you slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you make fun of us?" He said, "I take Allah's Refuge from being among Al-Jahilun (the ignorant or the foolish)."
Transliteration
Waith qala moosa liqawmihi inna Allaha yamurukum an tathbahoo baqaratan qaloo atattakhithuna huzuwan qala aAAoothu biAllahi an akoona mina aljahileena

স্মরণ কর, যখন মূসা আপন সম্প্রদায়কে বলিয়াছিল, ‘নিশ্চয়ই তোমাদেরকে একটি গরু যবেহ করার আদেশ দিয়াছেন’, তাহারা বলিয়াছিল, ‘তুমি কি আমাদের সঙ্গে ঠাট্টা করিতেছ?’ মূসা বলিল, ‘র শরণ লইতেছি যাহাতে আমি অজ্ঞদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত না হই।
They said, "Call upon your Lord for us that He may make plain to us what it is!" He said, "He says, 'Verily, it is a cow neither too old nor too young, but (it is) between the two conditions', so do what you are commanded."
Transliteration
Qaloo odAAu lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma hiya qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun la faridun wala bikrun AAawanun bayna thalika faifAAaloo ma tumaroona
They said, "Call upon your Lord for us to make plain to us its colour." He said, "He says, 'It is a yellow cow, bright in its colour, pleasing to the beholders.' "
Transliteration
Qaloo odAAu lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma lawnuha qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun safrao faqiAAun lawnuha tasurru alnnathireena
They said, "Call upon your Lord for us to make plain to us what it is. Verily, to us all cows are alike. And surely, if Allah wills, we will be guided."
Transliteration
Qaloo odAAu lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma hiya inna albaqara tashabaha AAalayna wainna in shaa Allahu lamuhtadoona

তাহারা বলিল, ‘আমাদের জন্য তোমার প্রতিপালককে স্পষ্টভাবে জানাইয়া দিতে বল, উহা কোনটি? আমরা গরুটি সম্পর্কে সন্দেহে পতিত হইয়াছি এবং ইচ্ছা করিলে নিশ্চয় আমরা দিশা পাইব।’
He [Musa (Moses)] said, "He says, 'It is a cow neither trained to till the soil nor water the fields, sound, having no other colour except bright yellow.' " They said, "Now you have brought the truth." So they slaughtered it though they were near to not doing it.
Transliteration
Qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun lathaloolun tutheeru alarda wala tasqee alhartha musallamatun la shiyata feeha qaloo alana jita bialhaqqi fathabahooha wama kadoo yafAAaloona

মূসা বলিল, ‘তিনি বলিতেছেন, উহা এমন এক গরু যাহা জমি চাষে ও ক্ষেতে পানি সেচের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয় নাই - সুস্থ নিখুঁত।’ তাহারা বলিল, ‘এখন তুমি সত্য আনিয়াছ।’ যদিও তাহারা যবেহ করিতে উদ্যত ছিল না, তবুও তাহারা উহাকে যবেহ করিল।
So We said: "Strike him (the dead man) with a piece of it (the cow)." Thus Allah brings the dead to life and shows you His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) so that you may understand.
Then, after that, your hearts were hardened and became as stones or even worse in hardness. And indeed, there are stones out of which rivers gush forth, and indeed, there are of them (stones) which split asunder so that water flows from them, and indeed, there are of them (stones) which fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
Transliteration
Thumma qasat quloobukum min baAAdi thalika fahiya kaalhijarati aw ashaddu qaswatan wainna mina alhijarati lama yatafajjaru minhu alanharu wainna minha lama yashshaqqaqu fayakhruju minhu almao wainna minha lama yahbitu min khashyati Allahi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona

ইহার পরও তোমাদের হৃদয় কঠিন হইয়া গেল, উহা পাষাণ কিংবা তদপেক্ষা কঠিন। কিছু পাথরও এমন যে, উহা হইতে নদী - নালা প্রবাহিত হয় এবং কিছু এইরূপ যে, বিদীর্ণ হওয়ার পর উহা হইতে পানি নির্গত হয়, আবার কিছু এমন যাহা র ভয়ে ধসিয়া পড়ে। তোমরা যাহা কর সে সম্বন্ধে অনবহিত নন।
Do you (faithful believers) covet that they will believe in your religion inspite of the fact that a party of them (Jewish rabbis) used to hear the Word of Allah [the Taurat (Torah)], then they used to change it knowingly after they understood it?
Transliteration
AfatatmaAAoona an yuminoo lakum waqad kana fareequn minhum yasmaAAoona kalama Allahi thumma yuharrifoonahu min baAAdi ma AAaqaloohu wahum yaAAlamoona

তোমরা কি এই আশা কর যে, তাহারা তোমাদের কথায় ঈমান আনিবে - যখন তাহাদের একদল র বাণী শ্রবণ করে ; অতঃপর তাহারা উহা হৃদয়ঙ্গম করার পরও বিকৃত করে, অথচ তাহারা জানে।
And when they (Jews) meet those who believe (Muslims), they say, "We believe", but when they meet one another in private, they say, "Shall you (Jews) tell them (Muslims) what Allah has revealed to you [Jews, about the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, that which are written in the Taurat (Torah)] , that they (Muslims) may argue with you (Jews) about it before your Lord?" Have you (Jews) then no understanding?
তাহারা যখন মু’মিনদের সংস্পর্শে আসে তখন বলে, ‘আমরা ঈমান আনিয়াছি’, আবার যখন তাহারা নিভৃতে একে অন্যের সঙ্গে মিলিত হয় তখন বলে, ‘ তোমাদের কাছে যাহা ব্যক্ত করিয়াছেন তোমরা কি তাহা তাহাদেরকে বলিয়া দাও ? ইহা দ্বারা তাহারা তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের সম্মুখে তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুক্তি পেশ করিবে; তোমরা কি অনুধাবন কর না?’
Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say, "This is from Allah," to purchase with it a little price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for that they earn thereby.
সুতরাং দুর্ভোগ তাহাদের জন্য যাহারা নিজ হাতে কিতাব রচনা করে এবং তুচ্ছ মূল্য প্রাপ্তির জন্য বলে, ‘ইহা র নিকট হইতে।’ তাহাদের হাত যাহা রচনা করিয়াছে তাহার জন্য শাস্তি তাহাদের এবং যাহা তাহারা উপার্জন করে তাহার জন্য শাস্তি তাহাদের।
And they (Jews) say, "The Fire (i.e. Hell-fire on the Day of Resurrection) shall not touch us but for a few numbered days." Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to them): "Have you taken a covenant from Allah, so that Allah will not break His Covenant? Or is it that you say of Allah what you know not?"
Transliteration
Waqaloo lan tamassana alnnaru illa ayyaman maAAdoodatan qul attakhathtum AAinda Allahi AAahdan falan yukhlifa Allahu AAahdahu am taqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona

তাহারা বলে, ‘দিনকতক ব্যতীত অগ্নি আমাদেরকে কখনও স্পর্শ করিবে না।’ বল, ‘তোমরা কি র নিকট হইতে অঙ্গীকার নিয়াছ; অতএব তাঁহার অঙ্গীকার কখনও ভঙ্গ করিবেন না কিংবা সম্বন্ধে এমন কিছু বলিতেছ যাহা তোমরা জান না ?’
And those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah تعالى - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise, they will dwell therein forever. (See V. 2:257)
And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none but Allah (Alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and Al-Masakin (the poor), and speak good to people [i.e. enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, and say the truth about Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat. Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi).
Transliteration
Waith akhathna meethaqa banee israeela la taAAbudoona illa Allaha wabialwalidayni ihsanan wathee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waqooloo lilnnasi husnan waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata thumma tawallaytum illa qaleelan minkum waantum muAAridoona

স্মরণ কর, যখন বনী ইস্রাঈলের অঙ্গীকার নিয়াছিলাম, তোমরা ব্যতীত অন্য কাহারও ‘ইবাদত করিবে না, মাতাপিতা, আত্মীয় - স্বজন, পিতৃহীন ও দরিদ্রদের প্রতি সদয় ব্যবহার করিবে এবং মানুষের সঙ্গে সদালাপ করিবে, কায়েম করিবে ও যাকাত দিবে, কিন্তু স্বল্পসংখ্যক লোক ব্যতীত তোমরা বিরুদ্ধভাবাপন্ন হইয়া মুখ ফিরাইয়া নিয়াছিলে।
And (remember) when We took your covenant (saying): Shed not the blood of your (people), nor turn out your own people from their dwellings. Then, (this) you ratified and (to this) you bear witness.
Transliteration
Waith akhathna meethaqakum la tasfikoona dimaakum wala tukhrijoona anfusakum min diyarikum thumma aqrartum waantum tashhadoona

- যখন তোমাদের অঙ্গীকার নিয়াছিলাম যে, তোমরা পরস্পরের রক্তপাত করিবে না এবং আপনজনকে স্বদেশ হইতে বহিষ্কার করিবে না, অতঃপর তোমরা ইহা স্বীকার করিয়াছিলে, আর এই বিষয়ে তোমরাই সাক্ষী।
After this, it is you who kill one another and drive out a party of you from their homes, assist (their enemies) against them, in sin and transgression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their expulsion was forbidden to you. Then do you believe in a part of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
Transliteration
Thumma antum haolai taqtuloona anfusakum watukhrijoona fareeqan minkum min diyarihim tathaharoona AAalayhim bialithmi waalAAudwani wain yatookum osara tufadoohum wahuwa muharramun AAalaykum ikhrajuhum afatuminoona bibaAAdi alkitabi watakfuroona bibaAAdin fama jazao man yafAAalu thalika minkum illa khizyun fee alhayati alddunya wayawma alqiyamati yuraddoona ila ashaddi alAAathabi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona

তোমরাই তাহারা যাহারা অতঃপর একে অন্যকে হত্যা করিতেছ এবং তোমাদের এক দলকে স্বদেশ হইতে বহিষ্কার করিতেছ, তোমরা নিজেরা তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে অন্যায় ও সীমালংঘন দ্বারা পরস্পরের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা করিতেছ এবং তাহারা যখন বন্দীরূপে তোমাদের নিকট উপস্থিত হয় তখন তোমরা মুক্তিপণ দাও ; অথচ তাহাদের বহিষ্করণই তোমাদের জন্য অবৈধ ছিল। তবে কি তোমরা কিতাবের কিছু অংশে বিশ্বাস কর এবং কিছু অংশকে প্রত্যাখ্যান কর? সুতরাং তোমাদের মধ্যে যাহারা এরূপ করে তাহাদের একমাত্র প্রতিফল পার্থিব জীবনে হীনতা এবং কিয়ামতের দিন তাহারা কঠিনতম শাস্তির দিকে নিক্ষিপ্ত হইবে। তাহারা যাহা করে সে সম্বন্ধে অনবহিত নন।
And indeed, We gave Musa (Moses) the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave 'Îsa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear signs and supported him with Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel عليه السلام)]. Is it that whenever there came to you a Messenger with what you yourselves desired not, you grew arrogant? Some you disbelieved and some you killed.
এবং নিশ্চয় আমি মূসাকে কিতাব দিয়াছি এবং তাহার পরে পর্যায়ক্রমে রাসূলগণকে প্রেরণ করিয়াছি, মার্ইয়াম - তনয় ‘ঈসাকে স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ দিয়াছি এবং ‘পবিত্র আত্মা’ দ্বারা তাহাকে শক্তিশালী করিয়াছি। তবে কি যখনই কোন রাসূল তোমাদের নিকট এমন কিছু আনিয়াছে যাহা তোমাদের মনঃপূত নয় তখনই তোমরা অহংকার করিয়াছ আর কতককে অস্বীকার করিয়াছ এবং কতককে হত্যা করিয়াছ?
And they say, "Our hearts are wrapped (i.e. do not hear or understand Allah's Word)." Nay, Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is that which they believe.
Transliteration
Waqaloo quloobuna ghulfun bal laAAanahumu Allahu bikufrihim faqaleelan ma yuminoona

তাহারা বলিয়াছিল, ‘আমাদের হৃদয় আচ্ছাদিত’, বরং কুফরীর জন্য তাহাদেরকে লা‘নত করিয়াছেন। সুতরাং তাহাদের অল্পসংখ্যকই ঈমান আনে।
And when there came to them (the Jews), a Book (this Qur'an) from Allah confirming what is with them [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], although aforetime they had invoked Allah (for coming of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in order to gain victory over those who disbelieved, then when there came to them that which they had recognised, they disbelieved in it. So let the Curse of Allah be on the disbelievers.
Transliteration
Walamma jaahum kitabun min AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahum wakanoo min qablu yastaftihoona AAala allatheena kafaroo falamma jaahum ma AAarafoo kafaroo bihi falaAAnatu Allahi AAala alkafireena

তাহাদের নিকট যাহা আছে র নিকট হইতে যখন তাহার প্রত্যায়নকারী কিতাব আসিল; যদিও পূর্বে সত্য প্রত্যাখ্যানকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে তাহারা ইহার সাহায্যে বিজয় প্রার্থনা করিত, তবুও তাহারা যাহা জ্ঞাত ছিল উহা যখন তাহাদের নিকট আসিল তখন তাহারা উহা প্রত্যাখ্যান করিল। সুতরাং কাফিরদের প্রতি র লা’নত।
How bad is that for which they have sold their ownselves, that they should disbelieve in that which Allah has revealed (the Qur'an), grudging that Allah should reveal of His Grace unto whom He wills of His slaves. So they have drawn on themselves wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers, there is disgracing torment.
Transliteration
Bisama ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfuroo bima anzala Allahu baghyan an yunazzila Allahu min fadlihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi fabaoo bighadabin AAala ghadabin walilkafireena AAathabun muheenun

উহা কত নিকৃষ্ট যাহার বিনিময়ে তাহারা তাহাদের আত্নাকে বিক্রয় করিয়াছে - উহা এই যে, যাহা অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছেন, জিদের বশবর্তী হইয়া তাহারা তাহাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করিত শুধু এই কারণে যে, তাঁহার বান্দাদের মধ্য হইতে যাহাকে ইচ্ছা অনুগ্রহ করেন। সুতরাং তাহারা ক্রোধের উপর ক্রোধের পাত্র হইল। কাফিরদের জন্য লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক শাস্তি রহিয়াছে।
And when it is said to them (the Jews), "Believe in what Allah has sent down," they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us." And they disbelieve in that which came after it, while it is the truth confirming what is with them. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to them): "Why then have you killed the Prophets of Allah aforetime, if you indeed have been believers?"
Transliteration
Waitha qeela lahum aminoo bima anzala Allahu qaloo numinu bima onzila AAalayna wayakfuroona bima waraahu wahuwa alhaqqu musaddiqan lima maAAahum qul falima taqtuloona anbiyaa Allahi min qablu in kuntum mumineena

এবং যখন তাহাদেরকে বলা হয়, ‘ যাহা অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছেন তাহাতে ঈমান আনয়ন কর’, তাহারা বলে, ‘আমাদের প্রতি যাহা অবতীর্ণ হইয়াছে আমরা তাহাতে বিশ্বাস করি।’ অথচ তাহা ব্যতীত সব কিছুই তাহারা প্রত্যাখ্যান করে, যদিও উহা সত্য এবং যাহা তাহাদের নিকট আছে তাহার প্রত্যায়নকারী। বল, ‘যদি তোমরা হইতে তবে কেন তোমরা অতীতে র নবীগণকে হত্যা করিয়াছিলে?’
And (remember) when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (saying), "Hold firmly to what We have given you and hear (Our Word)." They said, "We have heard and disobeyed." And their hearts absorbed (the worship of) the calf because of their disbelief. Say: "Worst indeed is that which your faith enjoins on you if you are believers."
Say to (them): "If the home of the Hereafter with Allah is indeed for you specially and not for others, of mankind, then long for death if you are truthful."
Transliteration
Qul in kanat lakumu alddaru alakhiratu AAinda Allahi khalisatan min dooni alnnasi fatamannawoo almawta in kuntum sadiqeena

বল, ‘যদি র নিকট আখিরাতের বাসস্থান অন্য লোক ব্যতীত বিশেষভাবে শুধু তোমাদের জন্যই হয় তবে তোমরা মৃত্যু কামনা কর - যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হও।’
But they will never long for it because of what their hands have sent before them (i.e. what they have done). And Allah is All-Aware of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).
And verily, you will find them (the Jews) the greediest of mankind for life and (even greedier) than those who ascribe partners to Allah (and do not believe in Resurrection - Majus, pagans, and idolaters). Everyone of them wishes that he could be given a life of a thousand years. But the grant of such life will not save him even a little from (due) punishment. And Allah is All-Seer of what they do.
Transliteration
Walatajidannahum ahrasa alnnasi AAalahayatin wamina allatheena ashrakoo yawaddu ahaduhum law yuAAammaru alfa sanatin wama huwa bimuzahzihihi mina alAAathabi an yuAAammara waAllahu baseerun bima yaAAmaloona

তুমি নিশ্চয় তাহাদেরকে জীবনের প্রতি সমস্ত মানুষ, এমন কি মুশরিক অপেক্ষাও অধিক লোভী দেখিতে পাইবে। তাহাদের প্রত্যেকে আকাঙ্খা করে যদি সহস্র বৎসর আয়ু দেওয়া হইত; কিন্তু দীর্ঘায়ু তাহাকে শাস্তি হইতে দূরে রাখিতে পারিবে না। তাহারা যাহা করে উহার দ্রষ্টা।
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Whoever is an enemy to Jibril (Gabriel) (let him die in his fury), for indeed he has brought it (this Qur'an) down to your heart by Allah's Permission, confirming what came before it [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and guidance and glad tidings for the believers.
Transliteration
Qul man kana AAaduwwan lijibreela fainnahu nazzalahu AAala qalbika biithni Allahi musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi wahudan wabushra lilmumineena

বল, ‘যে কেহ জিব্রীলের শত্রু এইজন্য যে, সে র নির্দেশে তোমার হৃদয়ে কুরআন পৌঁছাইয়া দিয়াছে, যাহা উহার পূর্ববর্তী কিতাবের সমর্থক এবং যাহা মু’মিনদের জন্য পথপ্রদর্শক ও শুভ সংবাদ’ -
And indeed We have sent down to you manifest Ayat (these Verses of the Qur'an which inform in detail about the news of the Jews and their secret intentions, etc.), and none disbelieve in them but Fasiqun (those who rebel against Allah's Command).
Transliteration
Walaqad anzalna ilayka ayatin bayyinatin wama yakfuru biha illa alfasiqoona

এবং নিশ্চয়ই আমি তোমার প্রতি স্পষ্ট আয়াতসমূহ নাযিল করিয়াছি। ফাসিকরা ব্যতীত অন্য কেহ তাহা প্রত্যাখ্যান করে না।
And when there came to them a Messenger from Allah (i.e. Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) confirming what was with them, a party of those who were given the Scripture threw away the Book of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know!
Transliteration
Walamma jaahum rasoolun min AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahum nabatha fareequn mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba kitaba Allahi waraa thuhoorihim kaannahum la yaAAlamoona

যখন র পক্ষ হইতে তাহাদের নিকট রাসূল আসিল, যে তাহাদের নিকট যাহা রহিয়াছে উহার প্রত্যায়নকারী, তখন যাহাদেরকে কিতাব দেওয়া হইয়াছিল তাহাদের একদল র কিতাবটিকে পশ্চাতে নিক্ষেপ করিল, যেন তাহারা জানে না।
They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their ownselves, if they but knew.
Transliteration
WaittabaAAoo ma tatloo alshshayateenu AAala mulki sulaymana wama kafara sulaymanu walakinna alshshayateena kafaroo yuAAallimoona alnnasa alssihra wama onzila AAala almalakayni bibabila haroota wamaroota wama yuAAallimani min ahadin hatta yaqoola innama nahnu fitnatun fala takfur fayataAAallamoona minhuma ma yufarriqoona bihi bayna almari wazawjihi wama hum bidarreena bihi min ahadin illa biithni Allahi wayataAAallamoona ma yadurruhum wala yanfaAAuhum walaqad AAalimoo lamani ishtarahu ma lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin walabisa ma sharaw bihi anfusahum law kanoo yaAAlamoona

এবং সুলায়মানের রাজত্বে শয়তানরা যাহা আবৃত্তি করিত তাহারা তাহা অনুসরণ করিত। সুলায়মান করে নাই, বরং শয়তানরাই করিয়াছিল। তাহারা মানুষকে জাদু শিক্ষা দিত এবং যাহা বাবিল শহরে হারূত ও মারূত ফিরিশ্তাদ্বয়ের উপর অবতীর্ণ হইয়াছিল। তাহারা কাহাকেও শিক্ষা দিত না এই কথা না বলিয়া যে, ‘আমরা পরীক্ষাস্বরূপ; সুতরাং তুমি করিও না।’ তাহারা উভয়ের নিকট হইতে স্বামী - স্ত্রীর মধ্যে যাহা বিচ্ছেদ সৃষ্টি করে তাহা শিক্ষা করিত, অথচ র নির্দেশ ব্যতীত তাহারা কাহারও কোন ক্ষতি সাধন করিতে পারিত না। তাহারা যাহা শিক্ষা করিত তাহা তাহাদের ক্ষতি সাধন করিত এবং কোন উপকারে আসিত না; আর তাহারা নিশ্চিতভাবে জানিত যে, যে কেহ উহা ক্রয় করে পরকালে তাহার কোন অংশ নাই। উহা কত নিকৃষ্ট, যাহার বিনিময়ে তাহারা স্বীয় আত্মাকে বিক্রয় করিয়াছে, যদি তাহারা জানিত!
And if they had believed, and guarded themselves from evil and kept their duty to Allah, far better would have been the reward from their Lord, if they but knew!
Transliteration
Walaw annahum amanoo waittaqaw lamathoobatun min AAindi Allahi khayrun law kanoo yaAAlamoona

যদি তাহারা ঈমান আনয়ন করিত ও হইত, তবে নিশ্চিতভাবে তাহাদের প্রতিফল র নিকট অধিক কল্যাণকর হইত, যদি তাহারা জানিত!
O you who believe! Say not (to the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم) Ra'ina but say Unzurna (make us understand) and hear. And for the disbelievers there is a painful torment. (See Verse 4:46)
Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqooloo raAAina waqooloo onthurna waismaAAoo walilkafireena AAathabun aleemun

হে মু’মিনগণ! ‘রাইনা’ বলিও না, বরং ‘উনজুরনা’ বলিও এবং শুনিয়া রাখ, কাফিরদের জন্য মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি রহিয়াছে।
Neither those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) nor Al-Mushrikun (the idolaters, polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, pagans, etc.) like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord. But Allah chooses for His Mercy whom He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.
Transliteration
Ma yawaddu allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi wala almushrikeena an yunazzala AAalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum waAllahu yakhtassu birahmatihi man yashao waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi

কিতাবীদের মধ্যে যাহারা করিয়াছে তাহারা এবং মুশরিকরা ইহা চাহে না যে, তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে তোমাদের প্রতি কোন কল্যাণ অবতীর্ণ হউক। অথচ যাহাকে ইচ্ছা নিজ রহমতের জন্য বিশেষরূপে মনোনীত করেন এবং মহা অনুগ্রহশীল।
Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things?
Transliteration
Ma nansakh min ayatin aw nunsiha nati bikhayrin minha aw mithliha alam taAAlam anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

আমি কোন আয়াত রহিত করিলে কিংবা বিস্মৃত হইতে দিলে তাহা হইতে উত্তম কিংবা তাহার সমতুল্য কোন আয়াত আনয়ন করি। তুমি কি জান না যে, আল্লাহ্ই সর্ববিষয়ে সর্বশক্তিমান।
Know you not that it is Allah to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? And besides Allah you have neither any Wali (protector or guardian) nor any helper.
Transliteration
Alam taAAlam anna Allaha lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin

তুমি কি জান না, আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর সার্বভৌমত্ব একমাত্র রই? এবং ছাড়া তোমাদের কোন অভিভাবকও নাই, সাহায্যকারীও নাই।
Or do you want to ask your Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as Musa (Moses) was asked before (i.e. show us openly our Lord)? And he who changes Faith for disbelief, verily, he has gone astray from the Right Way.
Transliteration
Am tureedoona an tasaloo rasoolakum kama suila moosa min qablu waman yatabaddali alkufra bialeemani faqad dalla sawaa alssabeeli

তোমরা কি তোমাদের রাসূলকে সেইরূপ প্রশ্ন করিতে চাও, যেইরূপ পূর্বে মূসাকে প্রশ্ন করা হইয়াছিল? এবং যে কেহ ঈমানের পরিবর্তে গ্রহণ করে, নিশ্চিতভাবে সে সরল পথ হারায়।
Many of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even after the truth (that Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is Allah's Messenger) has become manifest unto them. But forgive and overlook, till Allah brings His Command. Verily, Allah is Able to do all things.
Transliteration
Wadda katheerun min ahli alkitabi law yaruddoonakum min baAAdi eemanikum kuffaran hasadan min AAindi anfusihim min baAAdi ma tabayyana lahumu alhaqqu faoAAfoo waisfahoo hatta yatiya Allahu biamrihi inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

তাহাদের নিকট সত্য প্রকাশিত হওয়ার পরও, কিতাবীদের মধ্যে অনেকেই তোমাদের ঈমান আনিবার পর ঈর্ষামূলক মনোভাববশত আবার তোমাদেরকে কাফিররূপে ফিরিয়া পাওয়ার আকাঙ্খা করে। অতএব তোমরা ক্ষমা কর ও উপেক্ষা কর, যতক্ষণ না কোন নির্দেশ দেন, নিশ্চয়ই সর্ববিষয়ে সর্বশক্তিমান।
And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat and whatever of good (deeds that Allah loves) you send forth for yourselves before you, you shall find it with Allah. Certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what you do.
Transliteration
Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata wama tuqaddimoo lianfusikum min khayrin tajidoohu AAinda Allahi inna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseerun

তোমরা কায়েম কর ও যাকাত দাও। তোমরা উত্তম কাজের যাহা কিছু নিজেদের জন্য পূর্বে প্রেরণ করিবে র নিকট তাহা পাইবে। তোমরা যাহা কর তাহার দ্রষ্টা।
And they say, "None shall enter Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian." These are their own desires. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), "Produce your proof if you are truthful."
Transliteration
Waqaloo lan yadkhula aljannata illa man kana hoodan aw nasara tilka amaniyyuhum qul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena

এবং তাহারা বলে, ‘ইয়াহূদী বা খ্রিস্টান ছাড়া অন্য কেহ কখনই জান্নাতে প্রবেশ করিবে না।’ ইহা তাহাদের মিথ্যা আশা। বল, ‘যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হও তবে তোমাদের প্রমাণ পেশ কর।’
Yes, but whoever submits his face (himself) to Allah (i.e. follows Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism) and he is a Muhsin then his reward is with his Lord (Allah), on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. [See Tafsir Ibn Kathir ].
হাঁ, যে কেহ র নিকট সম্পূর্ণরূপে আত্মসর্মপণ করে এবং সৎকর্মপরায়ণ হয় তাহার ফল তাহার প্রতিপালকের নিকট রহিয়াছে এবং তাহাদের কোন ভয় নাই ও তাহারা দুঃখিত হইবে না।
The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing (i.e. are not on the right religion); and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing (i.e. are not on the right religion); though they both recite the Scripture. Like unto their word, said (the pagans) who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they have been differing.
ইয়াহূদীরা বলে, ‘খ্রিস্টানদের কোন ভিত্তি নাই’ এবং খ্রিস্টানরা বলে, ‘ইয়াহূদীদের কোন ভিত্তি নাই’; অথচ তাহারা কিতাব পাঠ করে। এইভাবে যাহারা কিছুই জানে না তাহারাও অনুরূপ কথা বলে। সুতরাং যে বিষয়ে তাহারা মতভেদ করিত কিয়ামতের দিন উহার মীমাংসা করিবেন।
And who are more unjust than those who forbid that Allah's Name be glorified and mentioned much (i.e. prayers and invocations, etc.) in Allah's Mosques and strive for their ruin? It was not fitting that such should themselves enter them (Allah's Mosques) except in fear. For them there is disgrace in this world, and they will have a great torment in the Hereafter.
Transliteration
Waman athlamu mimman manaAAa masajida Allahi an yuthkara feeha ismuhu wasaAAa fee kharabiha olaika ma kana lahum an yadkhulooha illa khaifeena lahum fee alddunya khizyun walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun

যে কেহ র মসজিদসমূহে তাঁহার নাম স্মরণ করিতে বাধা প্রদান করে এবং উহাদের বিনাশ সাধনে প্রয়াসী হয় তাহার অপেক্ষা বড় কে হইতে পারে? অথচ ভয় - বিহ্বল না হইয়া তাহাদের জন্য মসজিদে প্রবেশ করা সংগত ছিল না। পৃথিবীতে তাহাদের জন্য লাঞ্ছনা ভোগ ও পরকালে তাহাদের জন্য মহাশাস্তি রহিয়াছে।
And to Allah belong the east and the west, so wherever you turn (yourselves or your faces) there is the Face of Allah (and He is High above, over His Throne). Surely! Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knowing.
And they (Jews, Christians and pagans) say: Allah has begotten a son (children or offspring) . Glory be to Him (Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). Nay, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth, and all surrender with obedience (in worship) to Him.
Transliteration
Waqaloo itakhatha Allahu waladan subhanahu bal lahu ma fee alssamawati waalardi kullun lahu qanitoona

এবং তাহারা বলে, ‘ সন্তান গ্রহণ করিয়াছেন।’ তিনি অতি পবিত্র। বরং আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবীতে যাহা কিছু আছে সব রই। সব কিছু তাঁহারই একান্ত অনুগত।
And those who have no knowledge say: "Why does not Allah speak to us (face to face) or why does not a sign come to us?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike, We have indeed made plain the signs for people who believe with certainty.
Transliteration
Waqala allatheena la yaAAlamoona lawla yukallimuna Allahu aw tateenaayatun kathalika qala allatheena min qablihim mithla qawlihim tashabahat quloobuhum qad bayyanna alayati liqawmin yooqinoona

এবং যাহারা কিছু জানে না তাহারা বলে, ‘ আমাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন না কেন? কিংবা কোন নিদর্শন আমাদের নিকট আসে না কেন?’ এইভাবে তাহাদের পূর্ববর্তীরাও তাহাদের অনুরূপ কথা বলিত। তাহাদের অন্তর একই রকম। আমি দৃঢ় প্রত্যয়শীলদের জন্য নিদর্শনাবলী স্পষ্টভাবে বিবৃত করিয়াছি।
Verily, We have sent you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with the truth (Islam), a bringer of glad tidings (for those who believe in what you brought, that they will enter Paradise) and a warner (for those who disbelieve in what you brought, that they will enter the Hell-fire). And you will not be asked about the dwellers of the blazing Fire.
Never will the Jews nor the Christians be pleased with you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) till you follow their religion. Say: "Verily, the Guidance of Allah (i.e. Islamic Monotheism) that is the (only) Guidance. And if you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) were to follow their (Jews and Christians) desires after what you have received of Knowledge (i.e. the Qur'an), then you would have against Allah neither any Wali (protector or guardian) nor any helper.
Transliteration
Walan tarda AAanka alyahoodu wala alnnasarahatta tattabiAAa millatahum qul inna huda Allahi huwa alhuda walaini ittabaAAta ahwaahum baAAda allathee jaaka mina alAAilmi ma laka mina Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin

ইয়াহূদী ও খ্রিস্টানরা তোমার প্রতি কখনও সন্তুষ্ট হইবে না, যতক্ষণ না তুমি তাহাদের ধর্মাদর্শ অনুসরণ কর। বল, ‘আল্লাহর পথনির্দেশই প্রকৃত পথনির্দেশ।’ জ্ঞান প্রাপ্তির পর তুমি যদি তাহাদের খেয়াল - খুশির অনুসরণ কর তবে র বিপক্ষে তোমার কোন অভিভাবক থাকিবে না এবং কোন সাহায্যকারীও থাকিবে না।
Those (who embraced Islam from Bani Israel) to whom We gave the Book [the Taurat (Torah)] [or those (Muhammad's صلى الله عليه وسلم companions) to whom We have given the Book (the Qur'an)] recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), they are the ones who believe therein. And whoso disbelieve in it (the Qur'an), those are they who are the losers. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi).
O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you and that I preferred you to the 'Alamin [mankind and jinn (of your time-period, in the past)].
And fear the Day (of Judgement) when no person shall avail another, nor shall compensation be accepted from him, nor shall intercession be of use to him, nor shall they be helped.
এবং তোমরা সেই দিনকে ভয় কর যেদিন কেহ কাহারও কোন উপকারে আসিবে না, কাহারও নিকট হইতে কোন বিনিময় গৃহীত হইবে না এবং কোন সুপারিশ কাহারও পক্ষে লাভজনক হইবে না এবং তাহারা সাহায্য প্রাপ্তও হইবে না।
And (remember) when the Lord of Ibrahim (Abraham) [i.e., Allah] tried him with (certain) Commands, which he fulfilled. He (Allah) said (to him), "Verily, I am going to make you an Imam (a leader) for mankind (to follow you)." [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said, "And of my offspring (to make leaders)." (Allah) said, "My Covenant (Prophethood) includes not Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)."
Transliteration
Waithi ibtala ibraheema rabbuhu bikalimatin faatammahunna qala innee jaAAiluka lilnnasi imaman qala wamin thurriyyatee qala la yanalu AAahdee alththalimeena

এবং স্মরণ কর, যখন ইব্রাহীমকে তাহার প্রতিপালক কয়েকটি কথা দ্বারা পরীক্ষা করিয়াছিলেন এবং সেইগুলি সে পূর্ণ করিয়াছিল, বলিলেন, ‘আমি তোমাকে মানব জাতির নেতা করিতেছি।’ সে বলিল, ‘আমার বংশধরগণের মধ্য হইতেও?’ বলিলেন, ‘আমার প্রতিশ্রুতি জালিমদের প্রতি প্রযোজ্য নহে।’
And (remember) when We made the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) a place of resort for mankind and a place of safety. And take you (people) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim (Abraham) [or the stone on which Ibrahim (Abraham) عليه السلام stood while he was building the Ka'bah] as a place of prayer (for some of your prayers, e.g. two Rak'at after the Tawaf of the Ka'bahat Makkah), and We commanded Ibrahim (Abraham) and Isma'il (Ishmael) that they should purify My House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) for those who are circumambulating it, or staying (I'tikaf), or bowing or prostrating themselves (there, in prayer).
Transliteration
Waith jaAAalna albayta mathabatan lilnnasi waamnan waittakhithoo min maqami ibraheema musallan waAAahidna ila ibraheema waismaAAeela an tahhira baytiya lilttaifeena waalAAakifeena waalrrukkaAAi alssujoodi

এবং সেই সময়কে স্মরণ কর, যখন আমি কা‘বাগৃহকে মানব জাতির মিলনকেন্দ্র ও নিরাপত্তাস্থল করিয়াছিলাম এবং বলিয়াছিলাম, ‘তোমরা মাকামে ইব্রাহীমকে সালাতের স্থানরূপে গ্রহণ কর।’ এবং ইব্রাহীম ও ইস্মাইলকে তাওয়াফকারী, ই‘তিকাফকারী, রুকূ‘ ও সিজ্দাকারীদের জন্য আমার গৃহকে পবিত্র রাখিতে আদেশ দিয়াছিলাম।
And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said, "My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day." He (Allah) answered: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!"

Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi ijAAal hatha baladan aminan waorzuq ahlahu mina alththamarati man amana minhum biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri qala waman kafara faomattiAAuhu qaleelan thumma adtarruhu ila AAathabi alnnari wabisa almaseeru

স্মরণ কর, যখন ইব্রাহীম বলিয়াছিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! ইহাকে নিরাপদ শহর করিও, আর ইহার অধিবাসীদের মধ্যে যাহারা ও আখিরাতে ঈমান আনে তাহাদেরকে ফলমূল হইতে জীবিকা প্রদান করিও।’ তিনি বলিলেন, ‘যে কেহ করিবে তাহাকেও কিছু কালের জন্য জীবন উপভোগ করিতে দিব, অতঃপর তাহাকে জাহান্নামের শাস্তি ভোগ করিতে বাধ্য করিব এবং কত নিকৃষ্ট তাহাদের প্রত্যাবর্তনস্থল! ’
And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) and (his son) Isma'il (Ishmael) were raising the foundations of the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah), (saying), "Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Verily! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower."

Waith yarfaAAu ibraheemu alqawaAAida mina albayti waismaAAeelu rabbana taqabbal minna innaka anta alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

স্মরণ কর, যখন ইব্রাহীম ও ইসমাঈল কা‘বাগৃহের প্রাচীর তুলিতেছিল তখন তাহারা বলিয়াছিল, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! আমাদের এই কাজ গ্রহণ কর, নিশ্চয় তুমি সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞাতা।’
Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage - Hajjand 'Umrah), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.
‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! আমাদের উভয়কে তোমার একান্ত অনুগত কর এবং আমাদের বংশধর হইতে তোমার এক অনুগত উম্মত করিও। আমাদেরকে ‘ইবাদতের নিয়ম - পদ্ধতি দেখাইয়া দাও এবং আমাদের প্রতি ক্ষমাশীল হও। তুমি অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।
Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own (and indeed Allah answered their invocation by sending Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), who shall recite unto them Your Verses and instruct them in the Book (this Qur'an) and Al-Hikmah (full knowledge of the Islamic laws and jurisprudence or wisdom or Prophethood), and purify them. Verily! You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."
‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! তাহাদের মধ্য হইতে তাহাদের নিকট একজন রাসূল প্রেরণ করিও - যে তোমার আয়াতসমূহ তাহাদের নিকট তিলাওয়াত করিবে; তাহাদেরকে কিতাব ও হিক্মত শিক্ষা দিবে এবং তাহাদেরকে পবিত্র করিবে। তুমি তো পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।’
And who turns away from the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham) (i.e. Islamic Monotheism) except him who befools himself? Truly, We chose him in this world and verily, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.
Transliteration
Waman yarghabu AAan millati ibraheema illa man safiha nafsahu walaqadi istafaynahu fee alddunya wainnahu fee alakhirati lamina alssaliheena

যে নিজেকে নির্বোধ করিয়াছে সে ব্যতীত ইব্রাহীমের ধর্মাদর্শ হইতে আর কে বিমুখ হইবে। পৃথিবীতে তাহাকে আমি মনোনীত করিয়াছি; আর আখিরাতেও সে অবশ্যই সৎকর্মপরায়ণগণের অন্যতম।
When his Lord said to him, "Submit (i.e. be a Muslim)!" He said, "I have submitted myself (as a Muslim) to the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)."
Transliteration
Ith qala lahu rabbuhu aslim qala aslamtu lirabbi alAAalameena

তাহার প্রতিপালক যখন তাহাকে বলিয়াছিলেন, ‘আত্মসর্মপণ কর’, সে বলিয়াছিল, ‘জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকট আত্মসর্মপণ করিলাম।’
And this (submission to Allah, Islam) was enjoined by Ibrahim (Abraham) upon his sons and by Ya'qub (Jacob) (saying), "O my sons! Allah has chosen for you the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islam (as Muslims - Islamic Monotheism)."
Transliteration
Wawassa biha ibraheemu baneehi wayaAAqoobu ya baniyya inna Allaha istafa lakumu alddeena fala tamootunna illa waantum muslimoona

এবং ইব্রাহীম ও ইয়া‘কূব এই সম্বন্ধে তাহাদের পুত্রগণকে নির্দেশ দিয়া বলিয়াছিল, ‘হে পুত্রগণ! আল্লাহ্ই তোমাদের জন্য এই দীনকে মনোনীত করিয়াছেন। সুতরাং আত্মসর্মপণকারী না হইয়া তোমরা কখনও মৃত্যুবরণ করিও না।
Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya'qub (Jacob)? When he said unto his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We shall worship your Ilah (God - Allah), the Ilah (God) of your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), One Ilah (God), and to Him we submit (in Islam)."
Transliteration
Am kuntum shuhadaa ithhadara yaAAqooba almawtu ith qala libaneehi ma taAAbudoona min baAAdee qaloo naAAbudu ilahaka wailaha abaika ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa ilahan wahidan wanahnu lahu muslimoona

ইয়া‘কূবের নিকট যখন মৃত্যু আসিয়াছিল তোমরা কি তখন উপস্থিত ছিলে? সে যখন পুত্রগণকে জিজ্ঞাসা করিয়াছিল, ‘আমার পরে তোমরা কিসের ‘ইবাদত করিবে?’ তাহারা তখন বলিয়াছিল, ‘আমরা আপনার ইলাহ্ - এর এবং আপনার পিতৃপুরুষ ইব্রাহীম, ইস্মাইল ও ইসহাকের ইলাহ্ - এরই ‘ইবাদত করিব। তিনি একমাত্র ইলাহ্ এবং আমরা তাঁহার নিকট আত্মসর্মপণকারী।’
That was a nation who has passed away. They shall receive the reward of what they earned and you of what you earn. And you will not be asked of what they used to do.
Transliteration
Tilka ommatun qad khalat laha ma kasabat walakum ma kasabtum wala tusaloona AAamma kano yaAAmaloona

সেই ছিল এক উম্মত, তাহা অতীত হইয়াছে। তাহারা যাহা অর্জন করিয়াছে তাহা তাহাদের। তোমরা যাহা অর্জন কর তাহা তোমাদের। তাহারা যাহা করিত সে সম্বন্ধে তোমাদের কোন প্রশ্ন করা হইবে না।
And they say, "Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided." Say (to them O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), "Nay, (we follow) only the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham), Hanifa [Islamic Monotheism, i.e. to worship none but Allah (Alone)], and he was not of Al-Mushrikun (those who worshipped others along with Allah - see V.2:105)."
Transliteration
Waqaloo koonoo hoodan aw nasara tahtadoo qul bal millata ibraheema haneefan wama kana mina almushrikeena

তাহারা বলে, ‘ইয়াহূদী বা খ্রিস্টান হও, ঠিক পথ পাইবে।’ বল, ‘বরং একনিষ্ঠ হইয়া আমরা ইব্রাহীমের ধর্মাদর্শ অনুসরণ করিব এবং সে মুশরিকদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল না।’
Say (O Muslims), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the offspring of the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and 'Îsa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)."
তোমরা বল, ‘আমরা তে ঈমান রাখি, এবং যাহা আমাদের প্রতি এবং ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল, ইসহাক, ইয়া‘কূব ও তাহার বংশধরগণের প্রতি অবতীর্ণ হইয়াছে; এবং যাহা তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে মূসা, ‘ঈসা ও অন্যান্য নবীকে দেওয়া হইয়াছে ; আমরা তাহাদের মধ্যে কোন পার্থক্য করি না এবং আমরা তাঁহারই নিকট আত্মসমর্পণকারী।
So if they believe in the like of that which you believe, then they are rightly guided; but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allah will suffice you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
তোমরা যাহাতে ঈমান আনয়ন করিয়াছ তাহারা যদি সেইরূপ ঈমান আনয়ন করে তবে নিশ্চয় তাহারা হিদায়াত পাইবে। আর যদি তাহারা মুখ ফিরাইয়া নেয়, তবে তাহারা নিশ্চয়ই বিরুদ্ধভাবাপন্ন এবং তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে তোমার জন্য আল্লাহ্ই যথেষ্ট। আর তিনি সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞ।
[Our Sibghah (religion) is] the Sibghah (Religion) of Allah (Islam) and which Sibghah (religion) can be better than Allah's? And we are His worshippers. [Tafsir Ibn Kathir ]
Transliteration
Sibghata Allahi waman ahsanu mina Allahi sibghatan wanahnu lahu AAabidoona

আমরা গ্রহণ করিলাম র রং, রঙে অপেক্ষা কে অধিকতর সুন্দর? এবং আমরা তাঁহারই ‘ইবাদতকারী।
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to the Jews and Christians), "Dispute you with us about Allah while He is our Lord and your Lord? And we are to be rewarded for our deeds and you for your deeds. And we are sincere to Him [in worship and obedience (i.e. we worship Him Alone and none else, and we obey His Orders)]."
বল, ‘ সম্বন্ধে তোমরা কি আমাদের সঙ্গে বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হইতে চাও - যখন তিনি আমাদের প্রতিপালক এবং তোমাদেরও প্রতিপালক। আমাদের কর্ম আমাদের এবং তোমাদের কর্ম তোমাদের; এবং আমরা তাঁহার প্রতি একনিষ্ঠ।’
Or say you that Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob) and Al-Asbat [the offspring of the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)] were Jews or Christians? Say, "Do you know better or does Allah (knows better ... that they all were Muslims)? And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony [i.e. to believe in Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم when he comes, as is written in their Books. (See Verse 7:157)] he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do."
Transliteration
Am taqooloona inna ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa wayaAAqooba waalasbata kanoo hoodan aw nasara qul aantum aAAlamu ami Allahu waman athlamu mimman katama shahadatan AAindahu mina Allahi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona

তোমরা কি বল, ‘ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল, ইসহাক, ইয়া‘কূব ও তাহার বংশধরগণ অবশ্যই ইয়াহূদী কিংবা খ্রিস্টান ছিল?’ বল, ‘তোমরা কি বেশি জান, না ?’ র নিকট হইতে তাহার কাছে যে প্রমাণ আছে তাহা যে গোপন করে তাহার অপেক্ষা অধিকতর আর কে হইতে পারে? তোমরা যাহা কর সে সম্বন্ধে অনবহিত নহেন।
That was a nation who has passed away. They shall receive the reward of what they earned, and you of what you earn. And you will not be asked of what they used to do.

Tilka ommatun qad khalat laha ma kasabat walakum ma kasabtum wala tusaloona AAamma kanoo yaAAmaloona

সেই ছিল এক উম্মত, তাহা অতীত হইয়াছে। তাহারা যাহা অর্জন করিয়াছে তাহা তাহাদের। তোমরা যাহা অর্জন কর তাহা তোমাদের। তাহারা যাহা করিত সে সম্বন্ধে তোমাদের কোন প্রশ্ন করা হইবে না।
The fools among the people (pagans, hypocrites, and Jews) will say, "What has turned them (Muslims) from their Qiblah [prayer direction (towards Jerusalem)] to which they used to face in prayer." Say, (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) "To Allah belong both, east and the west. He guides whom He wills to the Straight Way."
Transliteration
Sayaqoolu alssufahao mina alnnasi ma wallahum AAan qiblatihimu allatee kanoo AAalayha qul lillahi almashriqu waalmaghribu yahdee man yashao ilasiratin mustaqeemin

নির্বোধ লোকেরা অচিরেই বলিবে যে, তাহারা এ যাবত যে কিবলা অনুসরণ করিয়া আসিতেছিল উহা হইতে কিসে তাহাদেরকে ফিরাইয়া দিল? বল, ‘পূর্ব ও পশ্চিম রই। তিনি যাহাকে ইচ্ছা সরল পথে পরিচালিত করেন।’
Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a just (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) be a witness over you. And We made the Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test those who followed the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from those who would turn on their heels (i.e. disobey the Messenger). Indeed it was great (heavy) except for those whom Allah guided. And Allah would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem). Truly, Allah is full of Kindness, the Most Merciful towards mankind.
Transliteration
Wakathalika jaAAalnakum ommatan wasatan litakoonoo shuhadaa AAala alnnasi wayakoona alrrasoolu AAalaykum shaheedan wama jaAAalna alqiblata allatee kunta AAalayha illa linaAAlama man yattabiAAu alrrasoola mimman yanqalibu AAala AAaqibayhi wain kanat lakabeeratan illa AAala allatheena hada Allahu wama kana Allahu liyudeeAAa eemanakum inna Allaha bialnnasi laraoofun raheemun

এইভাবে আমি তোমাদেরকে এক মধ্যপন্থী জাতিরূপে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করিয়াছি, যাহাতে তোমরা মানব জাতির জন্য সাক্ষীস্বরূপ এবং রাসূল তোমাদের জন্য সাক্ষীস্বরূপ হইবে। তুমি এ যাবত যে কিবলা অনুসরণ করিতেছিলে উহাকে আমি এই উদ্দেশ্যে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করিয়াছিলাম যাহাতে জানিতে পারি কে রাসূলের অনুসরণ করে এবং কে ফিরিয়া যায়। যাহাদের সৎপথে পরিচালিত করিয়াছেন তাহারা ব্যতীত অপরের নিকট ইহা নিশ্চয়ই কঠিন। এইরূপ নহেন যে, তোমাদের ঈমানকে ব্যর্থ করেন। নিশ্চয়ই মানুষের প্রতি দয়ার্দ্র, পরম দয়ালু।
Verily! We have seen the turning of your (Muhammad's صلى الله عليه وسلم) face towards the heaven. Surely, We shall turn you to a Qiblah (prayer direction) that shall please you, so turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah). And wheresoever you people are, turn your faces (in prayer) in that direction. Certainly, the people who were given the Scripture (i.e. Jews and the Christians) know well that, that (your turning towards the direction of the Ka'bah at Makkah in prayers) is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.
আকাশের দিকে তোমার বারবার তাকানোকে আমি অবশ্যই লক্ষ্য করি। সুতরাং তোমাকে অবশ্যই এমন কিব্লার দিকে ফিরাইয়া দিতেছি যাহা তুমি পসন্দ কর। অতএব তুমি মসজিদুল হারামের দিকে মুখ ফিরাও। তোমরা যেখানেই থাক না কেন উহার দিকে মুখ ফিরাও এবং যাহাদেরকে কিতাব দেওয়া হইয়াছে তাহারা নিশ্চিতভাবে জানে যে, উহা তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের প্রেরিত সত্য। তাহারা যাহা করে সে সম্বন্ধে অনবহিত নহেন।
And even if you were to bring to the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) all the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they would not follow your Qiblah (prayer direction), nor are you going to follow their Qiblah (prayer direction). And they will not follow each other's Qiblah (prayer direction). Verily, if you follow their desires after that which you have received of knowledge (from Allah), then indeed you will be one of the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers).
Transliteration
Walain atayta allatheena ootoo alkitaba bikulli ayatin ma tabiAAoo qiblataka wama anta bitabiAAin qiblatahum wama baAAduhum bitabiAAin qiblata baAAdin walaini ittabaAAta ahwaahum min baAAdi ma jaaka mina alAAilmi innaka ithan lamina alththalimeena

যাহাদেরকে কিতাব দেওয়া হইয়াছে তুমি যদি তাহাদের নিকট সমস্ত দলীল পেশ কর, তবুও তাহারা তোমার কিব্লার অনুসরণ করিবে না; এবং তুমিও তাহাদের কিব্লার অনুসারী নও, এবং তাহারাও পরস্পরের কিব্লার অনুসারী নয়। তোমার নিকট জ্ঞান আসিবার পর তুমি যদি তাহাদের খেয়াল - খুশির অনুসরণ কর, নিশ্চয়ই তখন তুমি জালিমদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইবে।
Those to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم or the Ka'bah at Makkah) as they recognise their sons. But verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it - [i.e. the qualities of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم which are written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)].
For every nation there is a direction to which they face (in their prayers). So hasten towards all that is good. Wheresoever you may be, Allah will bring you together (on the Day of Resurrection). Truly, Allah is Able to do all things.
Transliteration
Walikullin wijhatun huwa muwalleeha faistabiqoo alkhayrati ayna ma takoonoo yati bikumu Allahu jameeAAan inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

প্রত্যেকের একটি দিক রহিয়াছে, যেদিকে সে মুখ করে। অতএব তোমরা সৎকর্মে প্রতিযোগিতা কর। তোমরা যেখানেই থাক না কেন তোমাদের সকলকে একত্র করিবেন। নিশ্চয়ই সর্ববিষয়ে সর্বশক্তিমান।
And from wheresoever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (at Makkah), that is indeed the truth from your Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
And from wheresoever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (at Makkah), and wheresoever you are, turn your faces towards it (when you pray) so that men may have no argument against you except those of them that are wrong-doers, so fear them not, but fear Me! - And so that I may complete My Blessings on you and that you may be guided.
তুমি যেখান হইতেই বাহির হও না কেন মসজিদুল হারামের দিকে মুখ ফিরাও এবং তোমরা যেখানেই থাক না কেন উহার দিকে মুখ ফিরাইবে, যাহাতে তাহাদের মধ্যে জালিমদের ব্যতীত অপর লোকের তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে বিতর্কের কিছু না থাকে। সুতরাং তাহাদেরকে ভয় করিও না, শুধু আমাকেই ভয় কর। যাহাতে আমি আমার নিয়ামত তোমাদেরকে পূর্ণরূপে দান করিতে পারি এবং যাহাতে তোমরা সৎপথে পরিচালিত হইতে পার।
Similarly (to complete My Blessings on you), We have sent among you a Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of your own, reciting to you Our Verses (the Qur'an) and purifying you, and teaching you the Book (the Qur'an) and the Hikmah (i.e. Sunnah, Islamic laws and Fiqh - jurisprudence), and teaching you that which you used not to know.
Transliteration
Kama arsalna feekum rasoolan minkum yatloo AAalaykum ayatina wayuzakkeekum wayuAAallimukumu alkitaba waalhikmata wayuAAallimukum ma lam takoonoo taAAlamoona

যেমন আমি তোমাদের মধ্য হইতে তোমাদের নিকট রাসূল প্রেরণ করিয়াছি, যে আমার আয়াতসমূহ তোমাদের নিকট তিলাওয়াত করে, তোমাদেরকে পবিত্র করে এবং কিতাব ও হিক্মত শিক্ষা দেয় আর তোমরা যাহা জানিতে না তাহা শিক্ষা দেয়।
Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying), I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.
Transliteration
Faothkuroonee athkurkum waoshkuroo lee wala takfurooni

সুতরাং তোমরা আমাকেই স্মরণ কর, আমিও তোমাদেরকে স্মরণ করিব। তোমরা আমার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞ হও এবং অকৃতজ্ঞ হইও না।
They are those on whom are the Salawat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones.
Transliteration
Olaika AAalayhim salawatun min rabbihim warahmatun waolaika humu almuhtadoona

ইহারাই তাহারা যাহাদের প্রতি তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে বিশেষ অনুগ্রহ ও রহমত বর্ষিত হয়, আর ইহারাই সৎপথে পরিচালিত।
Verily! As-Safa and Al-Marwah (two mountains in Makkah) are of the Symbols of Allah. So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or 'Umrah (pilgrimage) of the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) to perform the going (Tawaf) between them (As-Safa and Al-Marwah). And whoever does good voluntarily, then verily, Allah is All-Recogniser, All-Knower.
Transliteration
Inna alssafa waalmarwata min shaAAairi Allahi faman hajja albayta awi iAAtamara fala junaha AAalayhi an yattawwafa bihima waman tatawwaAAa khayran fainna Allaha shakirun AAaleemun

নিশ্চয়ই সাফা ও মারওয়া র নিদর্শনসমূহের অন্তর্ভুক্ত। সুতরাং যে কেহ কা‘বাগৃহের হজ্জ কিংবা ‘উমরা সম্পন্ন করে এই দুইটির মধ্যে সা‘ঈ করিলে তাহার কোন পাপ নাই আর কেহ স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে সৎকাজ করিলে তো পুরস্কারদাতা, সর্বজ্ঞ।
Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidence and the guidance, which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers.
Transliteration
Inna allatheena yaktumoona ma anzalna mina albayyinati waalhuda min baAAdi ma bayyannahu lilnnasi fee alkitabi olaika yalAAanuhumu Allahu wayalAAanuhumu allaAAinoona

নিশ্চয়ই আমি যেসব স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন ও হিদায়াত অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছি মানুষের জন্য কিতাবে উহা স্পষ্টভাবে ব্যক্ত করার পরও যাহারা উহা গোপন রাখে তাহাদেরকে লা‘নত দেন এবং অভিশাপকারীরাও তাহাদেরকে অভিশাপ দেয়।
Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.
কিন্তু যাহারা তওবা করে এবং নিজেদেরকে সংশোধন করে আর সত্যকে সুস্পষ্টভাবে ব্যক্ত করে, ইহারাই তাহারা যাহাদের তওবা আমি কবূল করি, আমি অতিশয় তওবা গ্রহণকারী, পরম দয়ালু।
Verily, those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers, it is they on whom is the Curse of Allah and of the angels and of mankind, combined.
And your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God - Allah), La ilaha illa Huwa (there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Transliteration
Wailahukum ilahun wahidun la ilaha illa huwa alrrahmanu alrraheemu

আর তোমাদের ইলাহ্ এক ইলাহ্, তিনি ব্যতীত অন্য কোন ইলাহ্ নাই। তিনি দয়াময়, পরম দয়ালু।
Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water (rain) which Allah sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving (living) creatures of all kinds that He has scattered therein, and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed Ayat (proofs, evidence, signs, etc.) for people of understanding.
নিশ্চয়ই আকাশমণ্ডল ও পৃথিবীর সৃষ্টিতে, রাত্রি ও দিবসের পরিবর্তনে, যাহা মানুষের হিত সাধন করে তাহাসহ সমুদ্রে বিচরণশীল নৌযানসমূহে, আকাশ হইতে যে বারিবর্ষণ দ্বারা ধরিত্রীকে তাহার মৃত্যুর পর পুনর্জীবিত করেন তাহাতে এবং তাহার মধ্যে যাবতীয় জীবজন্তুর বিস্তারণে, বায়ুর দিক পরিবর্তনে, আকাশ ও পৃথিবীর মধ্যে নিয়ন্ত্রিত মেঘমালাতে জ্ঞানবান জাতির জন্য নিদর্শন রহিয়াছে।
And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah. But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else). If only, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allah and that Allah is Severe in punishment.
Transliteration
Wamina alnnasi man yattakhithu min dooni Allahi andadan yuhibboonahum kahubbi Allahi waallatheena amanoo ashaddu hubban lillahi walaw yara allatheena thalamoo ith yarawna alAAathaba anna alquwwata lillahi jameeAAan waanna Allaha shadeedu alAAathabi

তথাপি মানুষের মধ্যে কেহ কেহ ছাড়া অপরকে র সমকক্ষরূপে গ্রহণ করে এবং কে ভালবাসার অনুরূপ তাহাদেরকে ভালবাসে ; কিন্তু যাহারা ঈমান আনিয়াছে র প্রতি ভালবাসায় তাহারা সুদৃঢ়। জালিমরা শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করিলে যেমন বুঝিবে, হায় ! এখন যদি তাহারা তেমন বুঝিত, সমস্ত শক্তি রই এবং শাস্তি দানে অত্যন্ত কঠোর।
When those who were followed, disown (declare themselves innocent of) those who followed (them), and they see the torment, then all their relations will be cut off from them.
And those who followed will say: "If only we had one more chance to return (to the worldly life), we would disown (declare ourselves as innocent from) them as they have disowned (declared themselves as innocent from) us." Thus Allah will show them their deeds as regrets for them. And they will never get out of the Fire.
Transliteration
Waqala allatheena ittabaAAoo law anna lana karratan fanatabarraa minhum kama tabarraoo minna kathalika yureehimu Allahu aAAmalahum hasaratin AAalayhim wama hum bikharijeena mina alnnari

আর যাহারা অনুসরণ করিয়াছিল তাহারা বলিবে, ‘হায় ! যদি একবার আমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন ঘটিত তবে আমরাও তাহাদের সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করিতাম যেমন তাহারা আমাদের সাথে সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করিল।’ এইভাবে তাহাদের কার্যাবলী তাহাদের পরিতাপরূপে তাহাদেরকে দেখাইবেন আর তাহারা কখনও অগ্নি হইতে বাহির হইতে পারিবে না।
When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah has sent down." They say: "Nay! We shall follow what we found our fathers following." (Would they do that!) even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided?
Transliteration
Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma alfayna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAqiloona shayan wala yahtadoona

যখন তাহাদেরকে বলা হয়, ‘ যাহা অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছেন তাহা তোমরা অনুসরণ কর’, তাহারা বলে, ‘না, বরং আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে যাহাতে পাইয়াছি তাহার অনুসরণ করিব।’ এমন কি, তাহাদের পিতৃপুরুষগণ যদিও কিছুই বুঝিত না এবং তাহারা সৎপথেও পরিচালিত ছিল না - তৎসত্ত্বেও।
And the example of those who disbelieve is as that of him who shouts to those (flock of sheep) that hears nothing but calls and cries. (They are) deaf, dumb and blind. So they do not understand. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi )
Transliteration
Wamathalu allatheena kafaroo kamathali allathee yanAAiqu bima la yasmaAAu illa duAAaan wanidaan summun bukmun AAumyun fahum la yaAAqiloona

যাহারা করে তাহাদের উপমা : যেমন কোন ব্যক্তি এমন কিছুকে ডাকে যাহা হাঁক - ডাক ছাড়া আর কিছুই শ্রবণ করে না - বধির, মূক, অন্ধ, সুতরাং তাহারা বুঝিবে না।
O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allah, if it is indeed He Whom you worship.
Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum waoshkuroo lillahi in kuntum iyyahu taAAbudoona

হে মু’মিনগণ! তোমাদেরকে আমি যেসব পবিত্র বস্তু দিয়াছি তাহা হইতে আহার কর এবং র নিকট কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ কর যদি তোমরা শুধু তাঁহারই ‘ইবাদত কর।
He has forbidden you only the Maitah (dead animals), and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah (or has been slaughtered for idols, on which Allah's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity without wilful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. Truly, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
নিশ্চয় মৃত জন্তু, রক্ত, শূকর - মাংস এবং যাহার উপর র নাম ব্যতীত অন্যের নাম উচ্চারিত হইয়াছে তাহা তোমাদের জন্য হারাম করিয়াছেন। কিন্তু যে অনন্যোপায় অথচ নাফরমান কিংবা সীমালংঘনকারী নয় তাহার কোন পাপ হইবে না। নিশ্চয়ই অতি ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।
Verily, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book, and purchase a small gain therewith (of worldly things), they eat into their bellies nothing but fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor purify them, and theirs will be a painful torment.
Transliteration
Inna allatheena yaktumoona ma anzala Allahu mina alkitabi wayashtaroona bihi thamanan qaleelan olaika ma yakuloona fee butoonihim illa alnnara wala yukallimuhumu Allahu yawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahum AAathabun aleemun

যে কিতাব অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছেন যাহারা তাহা গোপন রাখে ও বিনিময়ে তুচ্ছ মূল্য গ্রহণ করে তাহারা নিজেদের জঠরে অগ্নি ব্যতীত আর কিছুই পুরে না। কিয়ামতের দিন তাহাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলিবেন না এবং তাহাদেরকে পবিত্র করিবেন না। তাহাদের জন্য মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি রহিয়াছে।
Those are they who have purchased error at the price of Guidance, and torment at the price of Forgiveness. So how bold they are (for evil deeds which will push them) to the Fire.
It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allah, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masakin (the poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask, and to set slaves free, performs As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat ), and gives the Zakat, and who fulfil their covenant when they make it, and who are patient in extreme poverty and ailment (disease) and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Such are the people of the truth and they are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).
পূর্ব এবং পশ্চিম দিকে তোমাদের মুখ ফিরানোতে কোন পুণ্য নাই; কিন্তু পুণ্য আছে কেহ , পরকাল, ফিরিশ্তাগণ, সমস্ত কিতাব এবং নবীগণে ঈমান আনয়ন করিলে এবং প্রেমে আত্মীয় - স্বজন, পিতৃহীন, অভাবগ্রস্ত, পর্যটক, সাহায্যপ্রার্থিগণকে এবং দাস - মুক্তির জন্য অর্থ দান করিলে, কায়েম করিলে ও যাকাত প্রদান করিলে এবং প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়া তাহা পূর্ণ করিলে, অর্থ - সংকটে দুঃখ - ক্লেশে ও সংগ্রাম - সংকটে ধৈর্য ধারণ করিলে। ইহারাই তাহারা যাহারা সত্যপরায়ণ এবং ইহারাই ।
O you who believe! Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment) is prescribed for you in case of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if the killer is forgiven by the brother (or the relatives, etc.) of the killed against blood-money, then adhering to it with fairness and payment of the blood-money to the heir should be made in fairness. This is an alleviation and a mercy from your Lord. So after this whoever transgresses the limits (i.e. kills the killer after taking the blood-money), he shall have a painful torment.
হে মু’মিনগণ! নিহতদের ব্যাপারে তোমাদের জন্য কিসাসের বিধান দেওয়া হইয়াছে। স্বাধীন ব্যক্তির বদলে স্বাধীন ব্যক্তি, ক্রীতদাসের বদলে ক্রীতদাস ও নারীর বদলে নারী, কিন্তু তাহার ভাইয়ের পক্ষ হইতে কিছুটা ক্ষমা প্রদর্শন করা হইলে যথাযথ বিধির অনুসরণ করা ও সততার সঙ্গে তাহার দেয় আদায় বিধেয়। ইহা তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ হইতে ভার লাঘব ও অনুগ্রহ। ইহার পরও যে সীমালংঘন করে তাহার জন্য মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি রহিয়াছে।
And there is (a saving of) life for you in Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment), O men of understanding, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2: 2).
Transliteration
Walakum fee alqisasi hayatun ya olee alalbabi laAAallakum tattaqoona

হে বোধসম্পন্ন ব্যক্তিগণ! কিসাসের মধ্যে তোমাদের জন্য জীবন রহিয়াছে, যাহাতে তোমরা সাবধান হইতে পার।
It is prescribed for you, when death approaches any of you, if he leaves wealth, that he makes a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable manners. (This is) a duty upon Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2: 2).
তোমাদের মধ্যে কাহারও মৃত্যুকাল উপস্থিত হইলে সে যদি ধন - সম্পত্তি রাখিয়া যায় তবে ন্যায়ানুগ প্রথামত তাহার পিতামাতা ও আত্মীয় - স্বজনের জন্য ওসিয়াত করার বিধান তোমাদেরকে দেওয়া হইল। ইহা মুত্তাকীদের জন্য একটি কর্তব্য।
But he who fears from a testator some unjust act or wrong-doing, and thereupon he makes peace between the parties concerned, there shall be no sin on him. Certainly, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Transliteration
Faman khafa min moosin janafan aw ithman faaslaha baynahum fala ithma AAalayhi inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

তবে যদি কেহ ওসিয়াতকারীর পক্ষপাতিত্ব কিংবা অন্যায়ের আশংকা করে, অতঃপর সে তাহাদের মধ্যে মীমাংসা করিয়া দেয়, তবে তাহার কোন অপরাধ নাই। নিশ্চয়ই ক্ষমাপরায়ণ, পরম দয়ালু।
O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2: 2).
Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo kutiba AAalaykumu alssiyamu kama kutiba AAala allatheena min qablikum laAAallakum tattaqoona

হে মু’মিনগণ! তোমাদের জন্য সিয়ামের বিধান দেওয়া হইল, যেমন বিধান তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তীগণকে দেওয়া হইয়াছিল, যাহাতে তোমরা হইতে পার -
[Observing Saum (fasts)] for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskin (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know.
Transliteration
Ayyaman maAAdoodatin faman kana minkum mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun min ayyamin okhara waAAala allatheena yuteeqoonahu fidyatun taAAamu miskeenin faman tatawwaAAa khayran fahuwa khayrun lahu waan tasoomoo khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona

সিয়াম নির্দিষ্ট কয়েক দিনের জন্য। তোমাদের মধ্যে কেহ পীড়িত হইলে বা সফরে থাকিলে অন্য সময় এই সংখ্যা পূরণ করিয়া লইতে হইবে। ইহা যাহাদেরকে সাতিশয় কষ্ট দেয় তাহাদের কর্তব্য ইহার পরিবর্তে ফিদ্য়া - একজন অভাবগ্রস্তকে খাদ্য দান করা। যদি কেহ স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে সৎকাজ করে তবে উহা তাহার পক্ষে অধিক কল্যাণকর। আর সিয়াম পালন করাই তোমাদের জন্য অধিকতর কল্যাণপ্রসূ যদি তোমরা জানিতে।
The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e. to say Takbir (Allahu Akbar; Allah is the Most Great] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.
Transliteration
Shahru ramadana allathee onzila feehi alquranu hudan lilnnasi wabayyinatin mina alhuda waalfurqani faman shahida minkumu alshshahra falyasumhu waman kana mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun min ayyamin okhara yureedu Allahu bikumu alyusra wala yureedu bikumu alAAusra walitukmiloo alAAiddata walitukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakum walaAAallakum tashkuroona

রামাযান মাস, ইহাতে মানুষের দিশারী এবং সৎপথের স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন ও সত্যাসত্যের পার্থক্যকারীরূপে কুরআন অবতীর্ণ হইয়াছে। সুতরাং তোমাদের মধ্যে যাহারা এই মাস পাইবে তাহারা যেন এই মাসে সিয়াম পালন করে। এবং কেহ পীড়িত থাকিলে কিংবা সফরে থাকিলে অন্য সময় এই সংখ্যা পূরণ করিবে। তোমাদের জন্য যাহা সহজ তাহা চাহেন এবং যাহা তোমাদের জন্য কষ্টকর তাহা চাহেন না এইজন্য যে, তোমরা সংখ্যা পূর্ণ করিবে এবং তোমাদেরকে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করিবার কারণে তোমরা র মহিমা ঘোষণা করিবে এবং যাহাতে তোমরা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করিতে পার।
And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.
আমার বান্দাগণ যখন আমার সম্বন্ধে তোমাকে প্রশ্ন করে, আমি তো নিকটেই। প্রার্থনাকারী যখন আমার নিকট প্রার্থনা করে আমি তাহার প্রার্থনায় সাড়া দেই। সুতরাং তাহারাও আমার ডাকে সাড়া দিক এবং আমার প্রতি ঈমান আনুক, যাহাতে তাহারা ঠিক পথে চলিতে পারে।
It is made lawful for you to have sexual relations with your wives on the night of As-Saum (the fasts). They are Libas [i.e. body cover, or screen, or Sakan, (i.e. you enjoy the pleasure of living with them - as in Verse 7:189) Tafsir At-Tabari ], for you and you are the same for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned to you (accepted your repentance) and forgave you. So now have sexual relations with them and seek that which Allah has ordained for you (offspring), and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your Saum (fast) till the nightfall. And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I'tikaf (i.e. confining oneself in a mosque for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the mosques. These are the limits (set) by Allah, so approach them not. Thus does Allah make clear His Ayat (proofs, evidence, lessons, signs, revelations, verses, laws, legal and illegal things, Allah's set limits, orders) to mankind that they may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).
Transliteration
Ohilla lakum laylata alssiyami alrrafathu ila nisaikum hunna libasun lakum waantum libasun lahunna AAalima Allahu annakum kuntum takhtanoona anfusakum fataba AAalaykum waAAafa AAankum faalana bashiroohunna waibtaghoo ma kataba Allahu lakum wakuloo waishraboo hatta yatabayyana lakumu alkhaytu alabyadu mina alkhayti alaswadi mina alfajri thumma atimmoo alssiyama ila allayli wala tubashiroohunna waantum AAakifoona fee almasajidi tilka hudoodu Allahi fala taqrabooha kathalika yubayyinu Allahu ayatihi lilnnasi laAAallahum yattaqoona

সিয়ামের রাত্রে তোমাদের জন্য স্ত্রী - সম্ভোগ বৈধ করা হইয়াছে। তাহারা তোমাদের পরিচ্ছদ এবং তোমরা তাহাদের পরিচ্ছদ। জানেন যে, তোমরা নিজেদের প্রতি অবিচার করিতেছিলে। অতঃপর তিনি তোমাদের প্রতি ক্ষমাশীল হইয়াছেন এবং তোমাদের অপরাধ ক্ষমা করিয়াছেন। সুতরাং এখন তোমরা তাহাদের সঙ্গে সংগত হও এবং যাহা তোমাদের জন্য নির্ধারণ করিয়াছেন তাহা কামনা কর। আর তোমরা পানাহার কর যতক্ষণ রাত্রির কৃষ্ণরেখা হইতে ঊষার শুভ্ররেখা স্পষ্টরূপে তোমাদের নিকট প্রতিভাত না হয়। অতঃপর নিশাগম পর্যন্ত সিয়াম পূর্ণ কর। তোমরা মসজিদে ই‘তিকাফরত অবস্থায় তাহাদের সঙ্গে সংগত হইও না। এইগুলি র সীমারেখা। সুতরাং এইগুলির নিকটবর্তী হইও না। এইভাবে তাঁহার বিধানাবলী মানব জাতির জন্য সুস্পষ্টভাবে ব্যক্ত করেন, যাহাতে তাহারা হইতে পারে।
And eat up not one another's property unjustly (in any illegal way e.g. stealing, robbing, deceiving, etc.), nor give bribery to the rulers (judges before presenting your cases) that you may knowingly eat up a part of the property of others sinfully.
Transliteration
Wala takuloo amwalakum baynakum bialbatili watudloo biha ila alhukkami litakuloo fareeqan min amwali alnnasi bialithmi waantum taAAlamoona

তোমরা নিজেদের মধ্যে একে অন্যের অর্থ - সম্পদ অন্যায়ভাবে গ্রাস করিও না এবং মানুষের ধন - সম্পত্তির কিয়দংশ জানিয়া - শুনিয়া অন্যায়ভাবে গ্রাস করিবার উদ্দেশ্যে উহা বিচারকগণের নিকট পেশ করিও না।
They ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness) that you enter the houses from the back but Al-Birr (is the quality of the one) who fears Allah. So enter houses through their proper doors, and fear Allah that you may be .
Transliteration
Yasaloonaka AAani alahillati qul hiya mawaqeetu lilnnasi waalhajji walaysa albirru bian tatoo albuyoota min thuhooriha walakinna albirra mani ittaqa watoo albuyoota min abwabiha waittaqoo Allaha laAAallakum tuflihoona

লোকে তোমাকে নূতন চাঁদ সম্বন্ধে প্রশ্ন করে। বল, ‘উহা মানুষ এবং হজ্জের জন্য সময় নিদের্শক।’ পশ্চাৎদিক দিয়া তোমাদের গৃহে প্রবেশ করাতে কোন পুণ্য নাই; কিন্তু পুণ্য আছে কেহ তাক্ওয়া অবলম্বন করিলে। সুতরাং তোমরা দ্বার দিয়া গৃহে প্রবেশ কর, তোমরা কে ভয় কর, যাহাতে তোমরা হইতে পার।
And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors. [This Verse is the first one that was revealed in connection with Jihad, but it was supplemented by another (9:36)].
Transliteration
Waqatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi allatheena yuqatiloonakum wala taAAtadoo inna Allaha la yuhibbu almuAAtadeena

যাহারা তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করে তোমরাও র পথে তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ কর ; কিন্তু সীমালংঘন করিও না। নিশ্চয়ই সীমালংঘন - কারিগণকে ভালবাসেন না।
And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.
Transliteration
Waoqtuloohum haythu thaqiftumoohum waakhrijoohum min haythu akhrajookum waalfitnatu ashaddu mina alqatli wala tuqatiloohum AAinda almasjidi alharami hatta yuqatilookum feehi fain qatalookum faoqtuloohum kathalika jazao alkafireena

যেখানে তাহাদেরকে পাইবে হত্যা করিবে এবং যে স্থান হইতে তাহারা তোমাদেরকে বহিষ্কার করিয়াছে তোমরাও সেই স্থান হইতে তাহাদেরকে বহিষ্কার করিবে। ফিতনা হত্যা অপেক্ষা গুরুতর। মসজিদুল হারামের নিকট তোমরা তাহাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করিবে না, যে পর্যন্ত তাহারা সেখানে তোমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ না করে। যদি তাহারা তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করে তবে তোমরা তাহাদেরকে হত্যা করিবে, ইহাই কাফিরদের পরিণাম।
And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah) and (all and every kind of) worship is for Allah (Alone). But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers)
Transliteration
Waqatiloohum hatta la takoona fitnatun wayakoona alddeenu lillahi faini intahaw fala AAudwana illa AAala alththalimeena

আর তোমরা তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করিতে থাকিবে যাবত ফিতনা দূরীভূত না হয় এবং র দীন প্রতিষ্ঠিত না হয়। যদি তাহারা বিরত হয় তবে জালিমদেরকে ব্যতীত আর কাহাকেও আক্রমণ করা চলিবে না।
The sacred month is for the sacred month, and for the prohibited things, there is the Law of Equality (Qisas). Then whoever transgresses the prohibition against you, you transgress likewise against him. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is with Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).
Transliteration
Alshshahru alharamu bialshshahri alharami waalhurumatu qisasun famani iAAtada AAalaykum faiAAtadoo AAalayhi bimithli ma iAAtada AAalaykum waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeena

পবিত্র মাস পবিত্র মাসের বিনিময়ে। যাহার পবিত্রতা অলঙ্ঘনীয় তাহার অবমাননা সকলের জন্য সমান। সুতরাং যে কেহ তোমাদেরকে আক্রমণ করিবে তোমরাও তাহাকে অনুরূপ আক্রমণ করিবে এবং তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং জানিয়া রাখ যে, অবশ্যই মুত্তাকীদের সঙ্গে থাকেন।
And spend in the Cause of Allah (i.e. Jihad of all kinds) and do not throw yourselves into destruction (by not spending your wealth in the Cause of Allah), and do good. Truly, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers).
Transliteration
Waanfiqoo fee sabeeli Allahi wala tulqoo biaydeekum ila alttahlukati waahsinoo inna Allaha yuhibbu almuhsineena

তোমরা র পথে ব্যয় কর এবং নিজেদের হাতে নিজে - দেরকে ধ্বংসের মধ্যে নিক্ষেপ করিও না। তোমরা সৎকাজ কর, সৎকর্মপরায়ণ লোককে ভালবাসেন।
And perform properly (i.e. all the ceremonies according to the ways of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), the Hajj and 'Umrah (i.e. the pilgrimage to Makkah) for Allah. But if you are prevented (from completing them), sacrifice a Hady (animal, i.e. a sheep, a cow, or a camel) such as you can afford, and do not shave your heads until the Hady reaches the place of sacrifice. And whosoever of you is ill or has an ailment in his scalp (necessitating shaving), he must pay a Fidyah (ransom) of either observing Saum (fasts) (three days) or giving Sadaqah (charity - feeding six poor persons) or offering sacrifice (one sheep). Then if you are in safety and whosoever performs the 'Umrah in the months of Hajj before (performing) the Hajj, (i.e. Hajj-at-Tamattu' and Al-Qiran), he must slaughter a Hady such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, he should observe Saum (fasts) three days during the Hajj and seven days after his return (to his home), making ten days in all. This is for him whose family is not present at Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (i.e. non-resident of Makkah). And fear Allah much and know that Allah is Severe in punishment.

Waatimmoo alhajja waalAAumrata lillahi fain ohsirtum fama istaysara mina alhadyi wala tahliqoo ruoosakum hatta yablugha alhadyu mahillahu faman kana minkum mareedan aw bihi athan min rasihi fafidyatun min siyamin aw sadaqatin aw nusukin faitha amintum faman tamattaAAa bialAAumrati ila alhajji fama istaysara mina alhadyi faman lam yajid fasiyamu thalathati ayyamin fee alhajji wasabAAatin itha rajaAAtum tilka AAasharatun kamilatun thalika liman lam yakun ahluhu hadiree almasjidi alharami waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

তোমরা র উদ্দেশ্যে হজ্জ ও উমরা পূর্ণ কর, কিন্তু তোমরা যদি বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হও তবে সহজলভ্য কুরবানী করিও। যে পর্যন্ত কুরবানীর পশু উহার স্থানে না পৌঁছে তোমরা মস্তক মুণ্ডন করিও না। তোমাদের মধ্যে যদি কেহ পীড়িত হয় কিংবা মাথায় ক্লেশ থাকে তবে সিয়াম কিংবা সাদাকা অথবা কুরবানীর দ্বারা উহার ফিদ্য়া দিবে। যখন তোমরা নিরাপদ হইবে তখন তোমাদের মধ্যে যে ব্যক্তি হজ্জের প্রাক্কালে উমরা দ্বারা লাভবান হইতে চায় সে সহজলভ্য কুরবানী করিবে। কিন্তু যদি কেহ উহা না পায় তবে তাহাকে হজ্জের সময় তিনদিন এবং গৃহে প্রত্যাবর্তনের পর সাতদিন - এই পূর্ণ দশদিন সিয়াম পালন করিতে হইবে। ইহা তাহাদের জন্য, যাহাদের পরিজনবর্গ মসজিদুল হারামের বাসিন্দা নয়। কে ভয় কর এবং জানিয়া রাখ যে, নিশ্চয়ই শাস্তি দানে কঠোর।
The Hajj (pilgrimage) is (in) the well-known (lunar year) months (i.e. the 10th month, the 11th month and the first ten days of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, i.e. two months and ten days). So whosoever intends to perform Hajj therein (by assuming Ihram), then he should not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during the Hajj. And whatever good you do, (be sure) Allah knows it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best provision is At-Taqwa (piety, righteousness). So fear Me, O men of understanding!
Transliteration
Alhajju ashhurun maAAloomatun faman farada feehinna alhajja fala rafatha wala fusooqa wala jidala fee alhajji wama tafAAaloo min khayrin yaAAlamhu Allahu watazawwadoo fainna khayra alzzadi alttaqwa waittaqooni ya olee alalbabi

হজ্জ হয় সুনির্দিষ্ট মাসসমূহে। অতঃপর যে কেহ এই মাসগুলিতে হজ্জ করা স্থির করে তাহার জন্য হজ্জের সময়ে স্ত্রী - সম্ভোগ, অন্যায় আচরণ ও কলহ - বিবাদ বিধেয় নহে। তোমরা উত্তম কাজের যাহা কিছু কর তাহা জানেন এবং তোমরা পাথেয়ের ব্যবস্থা করিও, আত্মসংযমই শ্রেষ্ঠ পাথেয়। হে বোধসম্পন্ন ব্যক্তিগণ! তোমরা আমাকে ভয় কর।
There is no sin on you if you seek the Bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage by trading). Then when you leave 'Arafat , remember Allah (by glorifying His Praises, i.e. prayers and invocations) at the Mash'ar-il-Haram . And remember Him (by invoking Allah for all good.) as He has guided you, and verily, you were, before, of those who were astray.
Transliteration
Laysa AAalaykum junahun an tabtaghoo fadlan min rabbikum faitha afadtum min AAarafatin faothkuroo Allaha AAinda almashAAari alharami waothkuroohu kama hadakum wain kuntum min qablihi lamina alddalleena

তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের অনুগ্রহ সন্ধান করাতে তোমাদের কোন পাপ নাই। যখন তোমরা ‘আরাফাত হইতে প্রত্যাবর্তন করিবে তখন মাশ‘আরুল হারামের নিকট পৌঁছিয়া কে স্মরণ করিবে এবং তিনি যেভাবে নির্দেশ দিয়াছেন ঠিক সেইভাবে স্মরণ করিবে; যদিও ইতিপূর্বে তোমরা বিভ্রান্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিলে।
Then depart from the place whence all the people depart and ask Allah for His Forgiveness. Truly, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
Transliteration
Thumma afeedoo min haythu afada alnnasu waistaghfiroo Allaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

অতঃপর অন্যান্য লোক যেখান হইতে প্রত্যাবর্তন করে তোমরাও সেই স্থান হইতে প্রত্যাবর্তন করিবে। আর র নিকট ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করিবে, নিশ্চয়ই ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।
So when you have accomplished your Manasik , remember Allah as you remember your forefathers or with a far more remembrance. But of mankind there are some who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Your Bounties) in this world!" and for such there will be no portion in the Hereafter.
Transliteration
Faitha qadaytum manasikakum faothkuroo Allaha kathikrikum abaakum aw ashadda thikran famina alnnasi man yaqoolu rabbanaatina fee alddunya wama lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin

অতঃপর যখন তোমরা হজ্জের অনুষ্ঠানাদি সমাপ্ত করিবে তখন কে এমনভাবে স্মরণ করিবে যেমন তোমরা তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষগণকে স্মরণ করিতে, অথবা তদপেক্ষা অভিনিবেশ সহকারে। মানুষের মধ্যে যাহারা বলে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! আমাদেরকে ইহকালেই দাও’, বস্তুত পরকালে তাহাদের জন্য কোন অংশ নাই।
And of them there are some who say: "Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!"
And remember Allah during the appointed Days. But whosoever hastens to leave in two days, there is no sin on him and whosoever stays on, there is no sin on him, if his aim is to do good and obey Allah (fear Him), and know that you will surely be gathered unto Him.
Transliteration
Waothkuroo Allaha fee ayyamin maAAdoodatin faman taAAajjala fee yawmayni fala ithma AAalayhi waman taakhkhara fala ithma AAalayhi limani ittaqa waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo annakum ilayhi tuhsharoona

তোমরা নির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যক দিনগুলিতে কে স্মরণ করিবে। যদি কেহ তাড়াতাড়ি করিয়া দুই দিনে চলিয়া আসে তবে তাহার কোন পাপ নাই, আর যদি কেহ বিলম্ব করে তবে তাহারও কোন পাপ নাই। ইহা তাহার জন্য, যে তাক্ওয়া অবলম্বন করে। তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং জানিয়া রাখ যে, তোমাদেরকে অবশ্যই তাঁহার নিকট একত্র করা হইবে।
And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), in this worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart, yet he is the most quarrelsome of the opponents.
Transliteration
Wamina alnnasi man yuAAjibuka qawluhu fee alhayati alddunya wayushhidu Allaha AAala ma fee qalbihi wahuwa aladdu alkhisami

আর মানুষের মধ্যে এমন ব্যক্তি আছে, পার্থিব জীবন সম্বন্ধে যাহার কথাবার্তা তোমাকে চমৎকৃত করে এবং তাহার অন্তরে যাহা আছে সে সম্বন্ধে কে সাক্ষী রাখে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে সে ভীষণ কলহপ্রিয়।
And when he turns away (from you "O Muhammad "صلى الله عليه وسلم"), his effort in the land is to make mischief therein and to destroy the crops and the cattle, and Allah likes not mischief.
যখন তাহাকে বলা হয়, ‘তুমি কে ভয় কর’, তখন তাহার আত্মাভিমান তাহাকে পাপানুষ্ঠানে লিপ্ত করে, সুতরাং জাহান্নামই তাহার জন্য যথেষ্ট। নিশ্চয়ই উহা নিকৃষ্ট বিশ্রামস্থল।
O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy.
Then if you slide back after the clear signs (Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and this Qur'an, and Islam) have come to you, then know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
Transliteration
Fain zalaltum min baAAdi ma jaatkumu albayyinatu faiAAlamoo anna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun

সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শন তোমাদের নিকট আসিবার পর যদি তোমাদের পদস্খলন ঘটে তবে জানিয়া রাখ, নিশ্চয়ই মহাপরাক্রান্ত, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
Do they then wait for anything other than that Allah should come to them in the shadows of the clouds and the angels? (Then) the case would be already judged. And to Allah return all matters (for decision).
Transliteration
Hal yanthuroona illa an yatiyahumu Allahu fee thulalin mina alghamami waalmalaikatu waqudiya alamru waila Allahi turjaAAu alomooru

তাহারা শুধু ইহার প্রতীক্ষায় রহিয়াছে যে, ও ফিরিশতাগণ মেঘের ছায়ায় তাহাদের নিকট উপস্থিত হইবেন, তৎপর সব কিছুর মীমাংসা হইয়া যাইবে। সমস্ত বিষয় রই নিকট প্রত্যাবর্তিত হইবে।
Ask the Children of Israel how many clear Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) We gave them. And whoever changes Allah's Favour after it had come to him, [e.g. renounces the Religion of Allah (Islam) and accepts Kufr (disbelief)] then surely, Allah is Severe in punishment.
Transliteration
Sal banee israeela kam ataynahum min ayatin bayyinatin waman yubaddil niAAmata Allahi min baAAdi ma jaathu fainna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

বনী ইস্রাঈলকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর, আমি তাহাদেরকে কত স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন প্রদান করিয়াছি! র অনুগ্রহ আসিবার পর কেহ উহার পরিবর্তন করিলে তো শাস্তিদানে কঠোর।
Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they mock at those who believe. But those who obey Allah's Orders and keep away from what He has forbidden, will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives (of His Bounty, Blessings, Favours, Honours on the Day of Resurrection) to whom He wills without limit.
Transliteration
Zuyyina lillatheena kafaroo alhayatu alddunya wayaskharoona mina allatheena amanoo waallatheena ittaqaw fawqahum yawma alqiyamati waAllahu yarzuqu man yashao bighayri hisabin

যাহারা করে তাহাদের নিকট পার্থিব জীবন সুশোভিত করা হইয়াছে, তাহারা মু’মিনদেরকে ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রুপ করিয়া থাকে। আর যাহারা তাক্ওয়া অবলম্বন করে কিয়ামতের দিন তাহারা তাহাদের ঊর্ধ্বে থাকিবে। যাহাকে ইচ্ছা অপরিমিত রিযিক দান করেন।
Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them He sent down the Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it after clear proofs had come unto them through hatred, one to another. Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to the Straight Path.
Transliteration
Kana alnnasu ommatan wahidatan fabaAAatha Allahu alnnabiyyeena mubashshireena wamunthireena waanzala maAAahumu alkitaba bialhaqqi liyahkuma bayna alnnasi feema ikhtalafoo feehi wama ikhtalafa feehi illa allatheena ootoohu min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu baghyan baynahum fahada Allahu allatheena amanoo lima ikhtalafoo feehi mina alhaqqi biithnihi waAllahu yahdee man yashao ilasiratin mustaqeemin

সমস্ত মানুষ ছিল একই উম্মত। অতঃপর নবীগণকে সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপে প্রেরণ করেন। মানুষেরা যে বিষয়ে মতভেদ করিত তাহাদের মধ্যে সে বিষয়ে মীমাংসার জন্য তিনি তাহাদের সঙ্গে সত্যসহ কিতাব অবতীর্ণ করেন এবং যাহাদেরকে তাহা দেওয়া হইয়াছিল, স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন তাহাদের নিকট আসিবার পরে, তাহারা শুধু পরস্পর বিদ্বেষবশত সেই বিষয়ে বিরোধিতা করিত। যাহারা বিশ্বাস করে, তাহারা যে বিষয়ে ভিন্নমত পোষণ করিত, তাহাদেরকে সে বিষয়ে নিজ অনুগ্রহে সত্যপথে পরিচালিত করেন। যাহাকে ইচ্ছা সরল পথে পরিচালিত করেন।
Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!
Transliteration
Am hasibtum an tadkhuloo aljannata walamma yatikum mathalu allatheena khalaw min qablikum massathumu albasao waalddarrao wazulziloo hatta yaqoola alrrasoolu waallatheena amanoo maAAahu mata nasru Allahi ala inna nasra Allahi qareebun

তোমরা কি মনে কর যে, তোমরা জান্নাতে প্রবেশ করিবে - যদিও এখনও তোমাদের নিকট তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের অনুরূপ অবস্থা আসে নাই? অর্থ - সংকট ও দুঃখ - ক্লেশ তাহাদেরকে স্পর্শ করিয়াছিল এবং তাহারা ভীত ও কম্পিত হইয়াছিল। এমনকি রাসূল এবং তাঁহার সঙ্গে ঈমান আনয়নকারিগণ বলিয়া উঠিয়াছিল, ‘র সাহায্য কখন আসিবে?’ জানিয়া রাখ, অবশ্যই র সাহায্য নিকটে।
They ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) what they should spend. Say: Whatever you spend of good must be for parents and kindred and orphans and Al-Masakin (the poor) and the wayfarer, and whatever you do of good deeds, truly, Allah knows it well.
Transliteration
Yasaloonaka matha yunfiqoona qul ma anfaqtum min khayrin falilwalidayni waalaqrabeena waalyatama waalmasakeeni waibni alssabeeli wama tafAAaloo min khayrin fainna Allaha bihi AAaleemun

লোকে কি ব্যয় করিবে সে সম্বন্ধে তোমাকে প্রশ্ন করে। বল, ‘যে ধন - সম্পদ তোমরা ব্যয় করিবে তাহা পিতামাতা, আত্মীয় - স্বজন, ইয়াতীম, মিস্কীন এবং মুসাফিরদের জন্য। উত্তম কাজের যাহা কিছু তোমরা কর না কেন তো সে সম্বন্ধে সম্যক অবহিত।
Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.
Transliteration
Kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu wahuwa kurhun lakum waAAasa an takrahoo shayan wahuwa khayrun lakum waAAasa an tuhibboo shayan wahuwa sharrun lakum waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona

তোমাদের জন্য যুদ্ধের বিধান দেওয়া হইল যদিও তোমাদের নিকট ইহা অপ্রিয়। কিন্তু তোমরা যাহা অপসন্দ কর সম্ভবত তাহা তোমাদের জন্য কল্যাণকর এবং যাহা ভালবাস সম্ভবত তাহা তোমাদের জন্য অকল্যাণকর। জানেন আর তোমরা জান না।
They ask you concerning fighting in the Sacred Months (i.e. 1st, 7th, 11th and 12th months of the Islamic calendar). Say "Fighting therein is a great (transgression) but a greater (transgression) with Allah is to prevent mankind from following the Way of Allah, to disbelieve in Him, to prevent access to Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (at Makkah), and to drive out its inhabitants, and Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And they will never cease fighting you until they turn you back from your religion (Islamic Monotheism) if they can. And whosoever of you turns back from his religion and dies as a , then his deeds will be lost in this life and in the Hereafter, and they will be the dwellers of the Fire. They will abide therein forever."
পবিত্র মাসে যুদ্ধ করা সম্পর্কে লোকে তোমাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করে; বল, ‘উহাতে যুদ্ধ করা ভীষণ অন্যায়।’ কিন্তু র পথে বাধা দান করা, কে অস্বীকার করা, মসজিদুল হারামে বাধা দেওয়া এবং উহার বাসিন্দাকে উহা হইতে বহিষ্কার করা র নিকট তদপেক্ষা অধিক অন্যায়; ফিতনা হত্যা অপেক্ষা গুরুতর অন্যায়।’ তাহারা সর্বদা তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করিতে থাকিবে যে পর্যন্ত তোমাদেরকে তোমাদের দীন হইতে ফিরাইয়া না দেয়, যদি তাহারা সক্ষম হয়। তোমাদের মধ্যে যে কেহ স্বীয় দীন হইতে ফিরিয়া যায় এবং কাফিররূপে মৃত্যুমুখে পতিত হয়, দুনিয়া ও আখিরাতে তাহাদের কর্ম নিষ্ফল হইয়া যায়। ইহারাই দোজখবাসী, সেখানে তাহারা স্থায়ী হইবে।
Verily, those who have believed, and those who have emigrated (for Allah's Religion) and have striven hard in the Way of Allah, all these hope for Allah's Mercy. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
They ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: "In them is a great sin, and (some) benefit for men, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they ought to spend. Say: "That which is beyond your needs." Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought."
লোকে তোমাকে মদ ও জুয়া সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞাসা করে। বল, ‘উভয়ের মধ্যে আছে মহাপাপ এবং মানুষের জন্য উপকারও; কিন্তু উহাদের পাপ উপকার অপেক্ষা অধিক।’ লোকে তোমাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করে, কী তাহারা ব্যয় করিবে? বল, ‘যাহা উদ্বৃত্ত।’ এইভাবে তাঁহার বিধান তোমাদের জন্য সুস্পষ্টরূপে ব্যক্ত করেন, যাহাতে তোমরা চিন্তা কর -
In (to) this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And they ask you concerning orphans. Say: "The best thing is to work honestly in their property, and if you mix your affairs with theirs, then they are your brothers. And Allah knows him who means mischief (e.g. to swallow their property) from him who means good (e.g. to save their property). And if Allah had wished, He could have put you into difficulties. Truly, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise."
দুনিয়া ও সম্বন্ধে। লোকে তোমাকে ইয়াতীমদের সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞাসা করে; বল, ‘তাহাদের জন্য সুব্যবস্থা করা উত্তম।’ তোমরা যদি তাহাদের সঙ্গে একত্র থাক তবে তাহারা তো তোমাদেরই ভাই। জানেন কে হিতকারী এবং কে অনিষ্টকারী। ইচ্ছা করিলে এ বিষয়ে তোমাদেরকে অবশ্যই কষ্টে ফেলিতে পারিতেন। নিশ্চয়ই প্রবল পরাক্রান্ত, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
And do not marry Al-Mushrikat (idolatresses, etc.) till they believe (worship Allah Alone). And indeed a slave woman who believes is better than a (free) Mushrikah (idolatress), even though she pleases you. And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikun till they believe (in Allah Alone) and verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater), even though he pleases you. Those (Al-Mushrikun) invite you to the Fire, but Allah invites (you) to Paradise and Forgiveness by His Leave, and makes His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to mankind that they may remember.
Transliteration
Wala tankihoo almushrikati hatta yuminna walaamatun muminatun khayrun min mushrikatin walaw aAAjabatkum wala tunkihoo almushrikeena hatta yuminoo walaAAabdun muminun khayrun min mushrikin walaw aAAjabakum olaika yadAAoona ila alnnari waAllahu yadAAoo ila aljannati waalmaghfirati biithnihi wayubayyinu ayatihi lilnnasi laAAallahum yatathakkaroona

ঈমান না আনা পর্যন্ত মুশরিক নারীকে তোমরা বিবাহ করিও না - মুশরিক নারী তোমাদেরকে মুগ্ধ করিলেও, নিশ্চয় ক্রীতদাসী তাহা অপেক্ষা উত্তম। ঈমান না আনা পর্যন্ত মুশরিক পুরুষের সঙ্গে তোমরা বিবাহ দিও না - মুশরিক পুরুষ তোমাদেরকে মুগ্ধ করিলেও, ক্রীতদাস তাহা অপেক্ষা উত্তম। উহারা অগ্নির দিকে আহ্বান করে এবং তোমাদেরকে নিজ অনুগ্রহে জান্নাত ও ক্ষমার দিকে আহ্বান করেন। তিনি মানুষের জন্য স্বীয় বিধান সুস্পষ্টভাবে ব্যক্ত করেন, যাহাতে তাহারা উহা হইতে শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করিতে পারে।
They ask you concerning menstruation. Say: that is an Adha (a harmful thing for a husband to have a sexual intercourse with his wife while she is having her menses), therefore keep away from women during menses and go not unto them till they are purified (from menses and have taken a bath). And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah has ordained for you (go in unto them in any manner as long as it is in their vagina). Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves (by taking a bath and cleaning and washing thoroughly their private parts, bodies, for their prayers).
Transliteration
Wayasaloonaka AAani almaheedi qul huwa athan faiAAtaziloo alnnisaa fee almaheedi wala taqraboohunna hatta yathurna faitha tatahharna fatoohunna min haythu amarakumu Allahu inna Allaha yuhibbu alttawwabeena wayuhibbu almutatahhireena

লোকে তোমাকে রজঃস্রাব সম্বন্ধে জিজ্ঞাসা করে। বল, ‘উহা অশুচি।’ সুতরাং তোমরা রজঃস্রাবকালে স্ত্রী - সংগম বর্জন করিবে এবং পবিত্র না হওয়া পর্যন্ত স্ত্রী - সংগম করিবে না। অতঃপর তাহারা যখন উত্তমরূপে পরিশুদ্ধ হইবে তখন তাহাদের নিকট ঠিক সেইভাবে গমন করিবে যেভাবে তোমাদেরকে আদেশ দিয়াছেন। নিশ্চয়ই তওবাকারীকে ভালবাসেন এবং যাহারা পবিত্র থাকে তাহাদেরকেও ভালবাসেন।
Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth, when or how you will, and send (good deeds, or ask Allah to bestow upon you pious offspring) for your ownselves beforehand. And fear Allah, and know that you are to meet Him (in the Hereafter), and give good tidings to the believers (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)
Transliteration
Nisaokum harthun lakum fatoo harthakum anna shitum waqaddimoo lianfusikum waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo annakum mulaqoohu wabashshiri almumineena

তোমাদের স্ত্রীগণ তোমাদের শস্যক্ষেত্র। অতএব তোমরা তোমাদের শস্যক্ষেত্রে যেভাবে ইচ্ছা গমন করিতে পার। তোমরা তোমাদের ভবিষ্যতের জন্য কিছু করিও এবং কেও ভয় করিও। আর জানিয়া রাখিও যে, তোমরা র সম্মুখীন হইতে যাইতেছ এবং মু’মিনগণকে সুসংবাদ দাও।
And make not Allah's (Name) an excuse in your oaths against your doing good and acting piously, and making peace among mankind. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower (i.e. do not swear much and if you have sworn against doing something good then give an expiation for the oath and do good).
Transliteration
Wala tajAAaloo Allaha AAurdatan liaymanikum an tabarroo watattaqoo watuslihoo bayna alnnasi waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun

তোমরা সৎকাজ, আত্মসংযম ও মানুষের মধ্যে শান্তি স্থাপন হইতে বিরত রহিবে - এই শপথের জন্য র নামকে তোমরা অজুহাত করিও না। সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞা।
Allah will not call you to account for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for that which your hearts have earned. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Forbearing.
Those who take an oath not to have sexual relation with their wives must wait for four months, then if they return (change their idea in this period), verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Transliteration
Lillatheena yuloona min nisaihim tarabbusu arbaAAati ashhurin fain faoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

যাহারা স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে সংগত না হওয়ার শপথ করে তাহারা চার মাস অপেক্ষা করিবে। অতঃপর যদি তাহারা প্রত্যাগত হয় তবে নিশ্চয়ই ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।
And divorced women shall wait (as regards their marriage) for three menstrual periods, and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs, if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have the better right to take them back in that period, if they wish for reconciliation. And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable, but men have a degree (of responsibility) over them. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
Transliteration
Waalmutallaqatu yatarabbasna bianfusihinna thalathata qurooin wala yahillu lahunna an yaktumna ma khalaqa Allahu fee arhamihinna in kunna yuminna biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri wabuAAoolatuhunna ahaqqu biraddihinna fee thalika in aradoo islahan walahunna mithlu allathee AAalayhinna bialmaAAroofi walilrrijali AAalayhinna darajatun waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun

তালাকপ্রাপ্তা স্ত্রী তিন রজঃস্রাব কাল প্রতীক্ষায় থাকিবে। তাহারা এবং আখিরাতে হইলে তাহাদের গর্ভাশয়ে যাহা সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন তাহা গোপন রাখা তাহাদের পক্ষে বৈধ নহে। যদি তাহারা আপোস - নিষ্পত্তি করিতে চায় তবে উহাতে তাহাদের পুনঃ গ্রহণে তাহাদের স্বামিগণ অধিক হকদার। নারীদের তেমনি ন্যায়সংগত অধিকার আছে, যেমন আছে তাহাদের উপর পুরুষদের ; কিন্তু নারীদের উপর পুরুষদের মর্যাদা আছে। মহাপরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
The divorce is twice, after that, either you retain her on reasonable terms or release her with kindness. And it is not lawful for you (men) to take back (from your wives) any of your Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) which you have given them, except when both parties fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allah (e.g. to deal with each other on a fair basis). Then if you fear that they would not be able to keep the limits ordained by Allah, then there is no sin on either of them if she gives back (the Mahr or a part of it) for her Al-Khul' (divorce) . These are the limits ordained by Allah, so do not transgress them. And whoever transgresses the limits ordained by Allah, then such are the Zalimun (wrong-doers).
Transliteration
Alttalaqu marratani faimsakun bimaAAroofin aw tasreehun biihsanin wala yahillu lakum an takhuthoo mimmaataytumoohunna shayan illa an yakhafa alla yuqeemahudooda Allahi fain khiftum alla yuqeemahudooda Allahi fala junaha AAalayhima feema iftadat bihi tilka hudoodu Allahi fala taAAtadooha waman yataAAadda hudooda Allahi faolaika humu alththalimoona

তালাক দুইবার। অতঃপর স্ত্রীকে হয় বিধিমত রাখিয়া দিবে অথবা সদয়ভাবে মুক্ত করিয়া দিবে। তোমরা তোমাদের স্ত্রীদেরকে যাহা প্রদান করিয়াছ তন্মধ্য হইতে কোন কিছু গ্রহণ করা তোমাদের পক্ষে বৈধ নহে। অবশ্য যদি তাহাদের উভয়ের আশংকা হয় যে, তাহারা র সীমারেখা রক্ষা করিয়া চলিতে পারিবে না এবং তোমরা যদি আশংকা কর যে, তাহারা র সীমারেখা রক্ষা করিয়া চলিতে পারিবে না, তবে স্ত্রী কোন কিছুর বিনিময়ে নিষ্কৃতি পাইতে চাহিলে তাহাতে তাহাদের কাহারও কোন অপরাধ নাই। এইসব র সীমারেখা। তোমরা উহা লংঘন করিও না। যাহারা এইসব সীমারেখা লংঘন করে তাহারাই ।
And if he has divorced her (the third time), then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she has married another husband. Then, if the other husband divorces her, it is no sin on both of them that they reunite, provided they feel that they can keep the limits ordained by Allah. These are the limits of Allah, which He makes plain for the people who have knowledge.
Transliteration
Fain tallaqaha fala tahillu lahu min baAAdu hatta tankiha zawjan ghayrahu fain tallaqaha fala junaha AAalayhima an yatarajaAAa in thanna an yuqeemahudooda Allahi watilka hudoodu Allahi yubayyinuha liqawmin yaAAlamoona

অতঃপর যদি সে তাহাকে তালাক দেয় তবে সে তাহার জন্য বৈধ হইবে না, যে পর্যন্ত সে অন্য স্বামীর সঙ্গে সংগত না হইবে। অতঃপর সে যদি তাহাকে তালাক দেয় আর তাহারা উভয়ে মনে করে যে, তাহারা র সীমারেখা রক্ষা করিতে সমর্থ হইবে, তবে তাহাদের পুনর্মিলনে কাহারও কোন অপরাধ হইবে না। এইগুলি র বিধান, জ্ঞানী সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য ইহা স্পষ্টভাবে বর্ণনা করেন।
And when you have divorced women and they have fulfilled the term of their prescribed period, either take them back on reasonable basis or set them free on reasonable basis. But do not take them back to hurt them, and whoever does that, then he has wronged himself. And treat not the Verses (Laws) of Allah as a jest, but remember Allah's Favours on you (i.e. Islam), and that which He has sent down to you of the Book (i.e. the Qur'an) and Al-Hikmah (the Prophet's Sunnah - legal ways - Islamic jurisprudence.) whereby He instructs you. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is All-Aware of everything.
Transliteration
Waithatallaqtumu alnnisaa fabalaghna ajalahunna faamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw sarrihoohunna bimaAAroofin wala tumsikoohunna diraran litaAAtadoo waman yafAAal thalika faqad thalama nafsahu wala tattakhithoo ayati Allahi huzuwan waothkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum wama anzala AAalaykum mina alkitabi waalhikmati yaAAithukum bihi waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun

যখন তোমরা স্ত্রীদেরকে তালাক দাও এবং তাহারা ইদ্দত পূর্তির নিকটবর্তী হয় তখন তোমরা হয় যথাবিধি তাহাদেরকে রাখিয়া দিবে অথবা বিধিমত মুক্ত করিয়া দিবে। কিন্তু তাহাদের ক্ষতি করিয়া সীমালংঘনের উদ্দেশ্যে তাহাদেরকে তোমরা আটকাইয়া রাখিও না। যে এইরূপ করে, সে নিজের প্রতি জুলুম করে। এবং তোমরা র বিধানকে ঠাট্টা - তামাশার বস্তু করিও না এবং তোমাদের প্রতি র নিয়ামত ও কিতাব এবং হিক্মত যাহা তোমাদের প্রতি অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছেন - যদ্দ্বারা তিনি তোমাদেরকে উপদেশ দেন, তাহা স্মরণ কর। তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং জানিয়া রাখ যে, নিশ্চয়ই সর্ববিষয়ে জ্ঞানময়।
And when you have divorced women and they have fulfilled the term of their prescribed period, do not prevent them from marrying their (former) husbands, if they mutually agree on reasonable basis. This (instruction) is an admonition for him among you who believes in Allah and the Last Day. That is more virtuous and purer for you. Allah knows and you know not.
Transliteration
Waithatallaqtumu alnnisaa fabalaghna ajalahunna fala taAAduloohunna an yankihna azwajahunna itha taradaw baynahum bialmaAAroofi thalika yooAAathu bihi man kana minkum yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri thalikum azka lakum waatharu waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona

তোমরা যখন স্ত্রীদের তালাক দাও এবং তাহারা তাহাদের ইদ্দতকাল পূর্ণ করে, তাহারা যদি বিধিমত পরস্পর সম্মত হয়, তবে স্ত্রীগণ নিজেদের স্বামীদেরকে বিবাহ করিতে চাহিলে তোমরা তাহাদেরকে বাধা দিও না। ইহা দ্বারা তোমাদের মধ্যে যে কেহ ও আখিরাতে ঈমান রাখে, তাহাকে উপদেশ দেওয়া হয়। ইহা তোমাদের জন্য শুদ্ধতম ও পবিত্রতম। জানেন, তোমরা জান না।
The mothers shall give suck to their children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling, but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother's food and clothing on a reasonable basis. No person shall have a burden laid on him greater than he can bear. No mother shall be treated unfairly on account of her child, nor father on account of his child. And on the (father's) heir is incumbent the like of that (which was incumbent on the father). If they both decide on weaning, by mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no sin on them. And if you decide on a foster suckling-mother for your children, there is no sin on you, provided you pay (the mother) what you agreed (to give her) on reasonable basis. And fear Allah and know that Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

Waalwalidatu yurdiAAna awladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman arada an yutimma alrradaAAata waAAala almawloodi lahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bialmaAAroofi la tukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarra walidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahu biwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalika fain arada fisalan AAan taradin minhuma watashawurin fala junaha AAalayhima wain aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakum fala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bialmaAAroofi waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseerun

যে স্তন্যপানকাল পূর্ণ করিতে চাহে তাহার জন্য জননীগণ তাহাদের সন্তানদেরকে পূর্ণ দুই বৎসর স্তন্যপান করাইবে। জনকের কর্তব্য যথাবিধি তাহাদের ভরণ - পোষণ করা। কাহাকেও তাহার সাধ্যাতীত কার্যভার দেওয়া হয় না। কোন জননীকে তাহার সন্তানের জন্য এবং কোন জনককে তাহার সন্তানের জন্য ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করা হইবে না। এবং উত্তরাধিকারীরও অনুরূপ কর্তব্য। কিন্তু যদি তাহারা পরস্পরের সম্মতি ও পরামর্শক্রমে স্তন্যপান বন্ধ রাখিতে চায় তবে তাহাদের কাহারও কোন অপরাধ নাই। তোমরা যাহা বিধিমত দিতে চাহিয়াছিলে, তাহা যদি অর্পণ কর তবে ধাত্রী দ্বারা তোমাদের সন্তানকে স্তন্যপান করাইতে চাহিলে তোমাদের কোন গুনাহ নাই। কে ভয় কর এবং জানিয়া রাখ যে, তোমরা যাহা কর নিশ্চয়ই উহার সম্যক দ্রষ্টা।
And those of you who die and leave wives behind them, they (the wives) shall wait (as regards their marriage) for four months and ten days, then when they have fulfilled their term, there is no sin on you if they (the wives) dispose of themselves in a just and honourable manner (i.e. they can marry). And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
তোমাদের মধ্যে যাহারা স্ত্রী রাখিয়া মৃত্যুমুখে পতিত হয় তাহাদের স্ত্রীগণ চার মাস দশ দিন প্রতীক্ষায় থাকিবে। যখন তাহারা তাহাদের ইদ্দতকাল পূর্ণ করিবে তখন যথাবিধি নিজেদের জন্য যাহা করিবে তাহাতে তোমাদের কোন গুনাহ নাই। তোমরা যাহা কর সে সম্বন্ধে সবিশেষ অবহিত।
And there is no sin on you if you make a hint of betrothal or conceal it in yourself, Allah knows that you will remember them, but do not make a promise of contract with them in secret except that you speak an honourable saying according to the Islamic law. And do not consummate the marriage until the term prescribed is fulfilled. And know that Allah knows what is in your minds, so fear Him. And know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.
Transliteration
Wala junaha AAalaykum feema AAarradtum bihi min khitbati alnnisai aw aknantum fee anfusikum AAalima Allahu annakum satathkuroonahunna walakin la tuwaAAidoohunna sirran illa an taqooloo qawlan maAAroofan wala taAAzimoo AAuqdata alnnikahi hatta yablugha alkitabu ajalahu waiAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee anfusikum faihtharoohu waiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun haleemun

স্ত্রীলোকদের নিকট তোমরা ইংগিতে বিবাহ প্রস্তাব করিলে অথবা তোমাদের অন্তরে গোপন রাখিলে তোমাদের কোন পাপ নাই। জানেন যে, তোমরা তাহাদের সম্বন্ধে অবশ্যই আলোচনা করিবে; কিন্তু বিধিমত কথাবার্তা ব্যতীত গোপনে তাহাদের নিকট কোন অঙ্গীকার করিও না; নির্দিষ্ট কাল পূর্ণ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত বিবাহকার্য সম্পন্ন করার সংকল্প করিও না। এবং জানিয়া রাখ, নিশ্চয়ই তোমাদের মনোভাব জানেন। সুতরাং তাঁহাকে ভয় কর এবং জানিয়া রাখ, নিশ্চয়ই ক্ষমাপরায়ণ, পরম সহনশীল।
There is no sin on you, if you divorce women while yet you have not touched (had sexual relation with) them, nor appointed unto them their Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage). But bestow on them (a suitable gift), the rich according to his means, and the poor according to his means, a gift of reasonable amount is a duty on the doers of good.

La junaha AAalaykum in tallaqtumu alnnisaa ma lam tamassoohunna aw tafridoo lahunna fareedatan wamattiAAoohunna AAala almoosiAAi qadaruhu waAAala almuqtiri qadaruhu mataAAan bialmaAAroofi haqqan AAala almuhsineena

যে পর্যন্ত না তোমরা তোমাদের স্ত্রীদেরকে স্পর্শ করিয়াছ এবং তাহাদের জন্য মাহ্র ধার্য করিয়াছ তাহাদেরকে তালাক দিলে তোমাদের কোন পাপ নাই। তোমরা তাহাদের সংস্থানের ব্যবস্থা করিও - সচ্ছল তাহার সাধ্যমত এবং অসচ্ছল তাহার সামর্থ্যানুযায়ী বিধিমত খরচপত্রের ব্যবস্থা করিবে, ইহা নেককার লোকদের কর্তব্য।
And if you divorce them before you have touched (had a sexual relation with) them, and you have appointed unto them the Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage), then pay half of that (Mahr), unless they (the women) agree to forego it, or he (the husband), in whose hands is the marriage tie, agrees to forego and give her full appointed Mahr. And to forego and give (her the full Mahr) is nearer to At-Taqwa (piety, righteousness). And do not forget liberality between yourselves. Truly, Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

Wain tallaqtumoohunna min qabli an tamassoohunna waqad faradtum lahunna fareedatan fanisfu ma faradtum illa an yaAAfoona aw yaAAfuwa allathee biyadihi AAuqdatu alnnikahi waan taAAfoo aqrabu lilttaqwa wala tansawoo alfadla baynakum inna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseerun

তোমরা যদি তাহাদেরকে স্পর্শ করার পূর্বে তালাক দাও, অথচ মাহ্র ধার্য করিয়া থাক তবে যাহা তোমরা ধার্য করিয়াছ তাহার অর্ধেক, যদি না স্ত্রী অথবা যাহার হাতে বিবাহ - বন্ধন রহিয়াছে সে মাফ করিয়া দেয়; এবং মাফ করিয়া দেওয়াই তাক্ওয়ার নিকটতর। তোমরা নিজেদের মধ্যে সদাশয়তার কথা বিস্মৃত হইও না। তোমরা যাহা কর নিশ্চয়ই তাহার সম্যক দ্রষ্টা।
Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers) especially the middle Salat (i.e. the best prayer - 'Asr ) . And stand before Allah with obedience [and do not speak to others during the Salat (prayers)].
And if you fear (an enemy), perform Salat (pray) on foot or riding. And when you are in safety, offer the Salat (prayer) in the manner He has taught you, which you knew not (before).
Transliteration
Fain khiftum farijalan aw rukbanan faitha amintum faothkuroo Allaha kama AAallamakum ma lam takoonoo taAAlamoona

যদি তোমরা আশংকা কর তবে পদচারী অথবা আরোহী অবস্থায় আদায় করিবে। আর যখন তোমরা নিরাপদ বোধ কর তখন কে স্মরণ করিবে, যেভাবে তিনি তোমাদেরকে শিক্ষা দিয়াছেন, যাহা তোমরা জানিতে না।
And those of you who die and leave behind wives should bequeath for their wives a year's maintenance and residence without turning them out, but if they (wives) leave, there is no sin on you for that which they do of themselves, provided it is honourable (e.g. lawful marriage). And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise .
Transliteration
Waallatheena yutawaffawna minkum wayatharoona azwajan wasiyyatan liazwajihim mataAAan ila alhawli ghayra ikhrajin fain kharajna fala junaha AAalaykum fee ma faAAalna fee anfusihinna min maAAroofin waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun

তোমাদের মধ্যে যাহাদের মৃত্যু আসন্ন এবং স্ত্রী রাখিয়া যায় তাহারা যেন তাহাদের স্ত্রীদেরকে গৃহ হইতে বহিষ্কার না করিয়া তাহাদের এক বৎসরের ভরণ - পোষণের ওসিয়াত করে। কিন্তু যদি তাহারা বাহির হইয়া যায় তবে বিধিমত নিজেদের জন্য তাহারা যাহা করিবে তাহাতে তোমাদের কোন গুনাহ নাই। পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
Did you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) not think of those who went forth from their homes in thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die". And then He restored them to life. Truly, Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but most men thank not.
Transliteration
Alam tara ila allatheena kharajoo min diyarihim wahum oloofun hathara almawti faqala lahumu Allahu mootoo thumma ahyahum inna Allaha lathoo fadlin AAala alnnasi walakinna akthara alnnasi la yashkuroona

তুমি কি তাহাদেরকে দেখ নাই যাহারা মৃত্যুভয়ে হাজারে হাজারে স্বীয় আবাসভূমি পরিত্যাগ করিয়াছিল ? অতঃপর তাহাদেরকে বলিয়াছিলেন, ‘তোমাদের মৃত্যু হউক।’ তারপর তাহাদের জীবিত করিয়াছিলেন। নিশ্চয়ই মানুষের প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল; কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে না।
Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to him many times? And it is Allah that decreases or increases (your provisions), and unto Him you shall return.

Man tha allathee yuqridu Allaha qardan hasanan fayudaAAifahu lahu adAAafan katheeratan waAllahu yaqbidu wayabsutu wailayhi turjaAAoona

কে সে, যে কে করযে হাসানা প্রদান করিবে ? তিনি তাহার জন্য ইহা বহুগুণে বৃদ্ধি করিবেন। আর সংকুচিত ও সম্প্রসারিত করেন এবং তাঁহার পানেই তোমরা প্রত্যানীত হইবে।
Have you not thought about the group of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Musa (Moses)? When they said to a Prophet of theirs, "Appoint for us a king and we will fight in Allah's Way." He said, "Would you then refrain from fighting, if fighting was prescribed for you?" They said, "Why should we not fight in Allah's Way while we have been driven out of our homes and our children (families have been taken as captives)?" But when fighting was ordered for them, they turned away, all except a few of them. And Allah is All-Aware of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).

Alam tara ila almalai min banee israeela min baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumu ibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi qala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu alla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lana alla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqad okhrijna min diyarina waabnaina falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illa qaleelan minhum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena

তুমি কি মূসার পরবর্তী বনী ইসরাঈল প্রধানদেরকে দেখ নাই ? তাহারা যখন তাহাদের নবীকে বলিয়াছিল, আমাদের জন্য এক রাজা নিযুক্ত কর যাহাতে আমরা র পথে যুদ্ধ করিতে পারি।’ সে বলিল, ‘ইহা তো হইবে না যে, তোমাদের প্রতি যুদ্ধের বিধান দেওয়া হইল তখন আর তোমরা যুদ্ধ করিবে না ?’ তাহারা বলিল, ‘আমরা যখন স্ব স্ব আবাসভূমি ও স্বীয় সন্তান - সন্ততি হইতে বহিষ্কৃত হইয়াছি, তখন র পথে কেন যুদ্ধ করিব না ?’ অতঃপর যখন তাহাদের প্রতি যুদ্ধের বিধান দেওয়া হইল তখন তাহাদের স্বল্প সংখ্যক ব্যতীত সকলেই পৃষ্ঠ প্রদর্শন করিল। এবং জালিমদের সম্বন্ধে সবিশেষ অবহিত।
And their Prophet (Samuel عليه السلام) said to them, "Indeed Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you." They said, "How can he be a king over us when we are fitter than him for the kingdom, and he has not been given enough wealth." He said: "Verily, Allah has chosen him above you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah grants His kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower."
Transliteration
Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna Allaha qad baAAatha lakum taloota malikan qaloo anna yakoonu lahu almulku AAalayna wanahnu ahaqqu bialmulki minhu walam yuta saAAatan mina almali qala inna Allaha istafahu AAalaykum wazadahu bastatan fee alAAilmi waaljismi waAllahu yutee mulkahu man yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun

আর তাহাদের নবী তাহাদের বলিয়াছিল, অবশ্যই তালূতকে তোমাদের রাজা করিয়াছেন। তাহারা বলিল, ‘আমাদের উপর তাহার রাজত্ব কিরূপে হইবে, যখন আমরা তাহা অপেক্ষা রাজত্বের অধিক হক্দার এবং তাহাকে প্রচুর ঐশ্বর্য দেওয়া হয় নাই!’ নবী বলিল, ‘ অবশ্যই তাহাকে তোমাদের জন্য মনোনীত করিয়াছেন এবং তিনি তাহাকে জ্ঞানে ও দেহে সমৃদ্ধ করিয়াছেন।’ যাহাকে ইচ্ছা স্বীয় রাজত্ব দান করেন। প্রাচুর্যময়, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
And their Prophet (Samuel عليه السلام) said to them: Verily! The sign of His kingdom is that there shall come to you At-Tabut (a wooden box), wherein is Sakinah (peace and reassurance) from your Lord and a remnant of that which Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron) left behind, carried by the angels. Verily, in this is a sign for you if you are indeed believers.
Transliteration
Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna ayata mulkihi an yatiyakumu alttabootu feehi sakeenatun min rabbikum wabaqiyyatun mimma taraka alu moosa waalu haroona tahmiluhu almalaikatu inna fee thalika laayatan lakum in kuntum mumineena

আর তাহাদের নবী তাহাদের বলিয়াছিল, ‘তাহার রাজত্বের নিদর্শন এই যে, তোমাদের নিকট সেই তাবূত আসিবে যাহাতে তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে চিত্ত - প্রশান্তি এবং মূসা ও হারূন - বংশীয়গণ যাহা পরিত্যাগ করিয়াছে তাহার অবশিষ্টাংশ থাকিবে; ফিরিশতাগণ ইহা বহন করিয়া আনিবে। তোমরা যদি হও তবে অবশ্যই তোমাদের জন্য ইহাতে নিদর্শন আছে।’
Then when Talut (Saul) set out with the army, he said: "Verily! Allah will try you by a river. So whoever drinks thereof, he is not of me, and whoever tastes it not, he is of me, except him who takes (thereof) in the hollow of his hand." Yet, they drank thereof, all, except a few of them. So when he had crossed it (the river), he and those who believed with him, they said: "We have no power this day against Jalut (Goliath) and his hosts." But those who knew with certainty that they were going to meet Allah, said: "How often a small group overcame a mighty host by Allah's Leave?" And Allah is with As-Sabirun (the patient).
Transliteration
Falamma fasala talootu bialjunoodi qala inna Allaha mubtaleekum binaharin faman shariba minhu falaysa minnee waman lam yatAAamhu fainnahu minnee illa mani ightarafa ghurfatan biyadihi fashariboo minhu illa qaleelan minhum falamma jawazahu huwa waallatheena amanoo maAAahu qaloo lataqata lana alyawma bijaloota wajunoodihi qala allatheena yathunnoona annahum mulaqoo Allahi kam min fiatin qaleelatin ghalabat fiatan katheeratan biithni Allahi waAllahu maAAa alssabireena

অতঃপর তালূত যখন সৈন্যবাহিনীসহ বাহির হইল সে তখন বলিল, ‘ এক নদী দ্বারা তোমাদের পরীক্ষা করিবেন। যে কেহ উহা হইতে পান করিবে সে আমার দলভুক্ত নহে; আর যে কেহ উহার স্বাদ গ্রহণ করিবে না সে আমার দলভুক্ত; ইহা ছাড়া যে কেহ তাহার হস্তে এক কোষ পানি গ্রহণ করিবে সেও। অতঃপর অল্প সংখ্যক ব্যতীত তাহারা উহা হইতে পান করিল। সে এবং তাহার সঙ্গী ঈমানদারগণ যখন উহা অতিক্রম করিল তখন তাহারা বলিল, ‘জালূত ও তাহার সৈন্যবাহিনীর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার মত শক্তি আজ আমাদের নাই।’ কিন্তু যাহাদের প্রত্যয় ছিল র সঙ্গে তাহাদের সাক্ষাৎ ঘটিবে তাহারা বলিল, ‘র হুকুমে কত ক্ষুদ্র দল কত বৃহৎ দলকে পরাভূত করিয়াছে।’ ধৈর্যশীলদের সঙ্গে আছেন।
And when they advanced to meet Jalut (Goliath) and his forces, they invoked: "Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience, and set firm our feet and make us victorious over the disbelieving people."
তাহারা যখন যুদ্ধার্থে জালূত ও তাহার সৈন্যবাহিনীর সম্মুখীন হইল তখন তাহারা বলিল, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! আমাদেরকে ধৈর্য দান কর, আমাদের পা অবিচলিত রাখ এবং সম্প্রদায়ের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদেরকে সাহায্য দান কর।’
So they routed them by Allah's Leave and Dawud (David) killed Jalut (Goliath), and Allah gave him [Dawud (David)] the kingdom [after the death of Talut (Saul) and Samuel] and Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and taught him of that which He willed. And if Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allah is full of bounty to the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
সুতরাং তাহারা র হুকুমে উহাদের পরাভূত করিল ; দাউদ জালূতকে সংহার করিল, তাহাকে রাজত্ব ও হিক্মত দান করিলেন এবং যাহা তিনি ইচ্ছা করিলেন তাহা তাহাকে শিক্ষা দিলেন। যদি মানব জাতির এক দলকে অন্য দল দ্বারা প্রতিহত না করিতেন তবে পৃথিবী বিপর্যস্ত হইয়া যাইত। কিন্তু জগতসমূহের প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল।
Those Messengers! We preferred some of them to others; to some of them Allah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to 'Îsa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), We gave clear proofs and evidence, and supported him with Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. If Allah had willed, succeeding generations would not have fought against each other, after clear Verses of Allah had come to them, but they differed - some of them believed and others disbelieved. If Allah had willed, they would not have fought against one another, but Allah does what He likes.

Tilka alrrusulu faddalna baAAdahum AAala baAAdin minhum man kallama Allahu warafaAAa baAAdahum darajatin waatayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinati waayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi walaw shaa Allahu ma iqtatala allatheena min baAAdihim min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu walakini ikhtalafoo faminhum man amana waminhum man kafara walaw shaa Allahu ma iqtataloo walakinna Allaha yafAAalu ma yureedu

এই রাসূলগণ, তাহাদের মধ্যে কাহাকেও কাহারও উপর শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব দিয়াছি। তাহাদের মধ্যে এমন কেহ রহিয়াছে যাহার সঙ্গে কথা বলিয়াছেন, আবার কাহাকেও উচ্চ মর্যাদায় উন্নীত করিয়াছেন। মার্ইয়াম - তনয় ‘ঈসাকে স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ প্রদান করিয়াছি ও পবিত্র আত্মা দ্বারা তাহাকে শক্তিশালী করিয়াছি। ইচ্ছা করিলে তাহাদের পরবর্তীরা তাহাদের নিকট স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ সমাগত হওয়ার পরও পারস্পরিক যুদ্ধ - বিগ্রহে লিপ্ত হইত না; কিন্তু তাহাদের মধ্যে মতভেদ ঘটিল। ফলে তাহাদের কিছুসংখ্যক ঈমান আনিল এবং কিছুসংখ্যক করিল। ইচ্ছা করিলে তাহারা পারস্পরিক যুদ্ধ - বিগ্রহে লিপ্ত হইত না; কিন্তু যাহা ইচ্ছা তাহা করেন।
O you who believe! Spend of that with which We have provided for you, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession. And it is the disbelievers who are the Zalimun (wrong-doers).
Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo anfiqoo mimma razaqnakum min qabli an yatiya yawmun la bayAAun feehi wala khullatun wala shafaAAatun waalkafiroona humu alththalimoona

হে মু’মিনগণ! আমি যাহা তোমাদেরকে দিয়াছি তাহা হইতে তোমরা ব্যয় কর সেই দিন আসিবার পূর্বে, যেই দিন ক্রয় - বিক্রয়, বন্ধুত্ব ও সুপারিশ থাকিবে না এবং কাফিররাই ।
Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyum (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists). Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [This Verse 2:255 is called Ayat-ul-Kursi ]

Allahu la ilaha illa huwa alhayyu alqayyoomu la takhuthuhu sinatun wala nawmun lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi man tha allathee yashfaAAu AAindahu illa biithnihi yaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yuheetoona bishayin min AAilmihi illa bima shaa wasiAAa kursiyyuhu alssamawati waalarda wala yaooduhu hifthuhuma wahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheemu

, তিনি ব্যতীত কোন ইলাহ্ নাই। তিনি চিরঞ্জীব, সর্বসত্তার ধারক। তাঁহাকে তন্দ্রা অথবা নিদ্রা স্পর্শ করে না। আকাশ ও পৃথিবীতে যাহা কিছু আছে সমস্ত তাঁহারই। কে সে, যে তাঁহার অনুমতি ব্যতীত তাঁহার নিকট সুপারিশ করিবে? তাহাদের সম্মুখে ও পশ্চাতে যাহা কিছু আছে তাহা তিনি অবগত। যাহা তিনি ইচ্ছা করেন তদ্ব্যতীত তাঁহার জ্ঞানের কিছুই তাহারা আয়ত্ত করিতে পারে না। তাঁহার ‘কুরসী’ আকাশ ও পৃথিবীময় পরিব্যাপ্ত; ইহাদের রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ তাঁহাকে ক্লান্ত করে না; আর তিনি মহান, শ্রেষ্ঠ।
There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

La ikraha fee alddeeni qad tabayyana alrrushdu mina alghayyi faman yakfur bialttaghooti wayumin biAllahi faqadi istamsaka bialAAurwati alwuthqa la infisama laha waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun

দীন গ্রহণে জোর - জবরদস্তি নাই; সত্য পথ ভ্রান্ত পথ হইতে সুস্পষ্ট হইয়াছে। যে তাগূতকে অস্বীকার করিবে ও র উপর ঈমান আনিবে সে এমন এক মযবূত হাতল ধরিবে যাহা কখনও ভাঙ্গিবে না। সর্বশ্রোতা, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
Allah is the Wali (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light. But as for those who disbelieve, their Auliya (supporters and helpers) are Taghut [false deities and false leaders], they bring them out from light into darkness. Those are the dwellers of the Fire, and they will abide therein forever. (See V.2:81,82)

Allahu waliyyu allatheena amanoo yukhrijuhum mina alththulumati ila alnnoori waallatheena kafaroo awliyaohumu alttaghootu yukhrijoonahum mina alnnoori ila alththulumati olaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

যাহারা ঈমান আনে তাহাদের অভিভাবক, তিনি তাহাদেরকে অন্ধকার হইতে বাহির করিয়া আলোকে লইয়া যান। আর যাহারা করে তাগূত তাহাদের অভিভাবক; ইহারা তাহাদেরকে আলো হইতে অন্ধকারে লইয়া যায়। উহারাই অগ্নি - অধিবাসী, সেখানে তাহারা স্থায়ী হইবে।
Have you not looked at him who disputed with Ibrahim (Abraham) about his Lord (Allah), because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Ibrahim (Abraham) said (to him): "My Lord (Allah) is He Who gives life and causes death." He said, "I give life and cause death." Ibrahim (Abraham) said, "Verily! Allah brings the sun from the east; then bring it you from the west." So the was utterly defeated. And Allah guides not the people, who are Zalimun (wrong-doers).
Transliteration
Alam tara ila allathee hajja ibraheema fee rabbihi an atahu Allahu almulka ith qala ibraheemu rabbiya allathee yuhyee wayumeetu qala ana ohyee waomeetu qala ibraheemu fainna Allaha yatee bialshshamsi mina almashriqi fati biha mina almaghribi fabuhita allathee kafara waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena

তুমি কি ঐ ব্যক্তিকে দেখ নাই, যে ইব্রাহীমের সঙ্গে তাহার প্রতিপালক সম্বন্ধে বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হইয়াছিল, যেহেতু তাহাকে কর্তৃত্ব দিয়াছিলেন। যখন ইব্রাহীম বলিল, ‘তিনি আমার প্রতিপালক যিনি জীবন দান করেন ও মৃত্যু ঘটান’, সে বলিল, ‘আমিও তো জীবন দান করি ও মৃত্যু ঘটাই।’ ইব্রাহীম বলিল, ‘ সূর্যকে পূর্ব দিক হইতে উদিত করান, তুমি উহাকে পশ্চিম দিক হইতে উদিত করাও তো।’ অতঃপর যে করিয়াছিল সে হতবুদ্ধি হইয়া গেল। সম্প্রদায়কে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন না।
Or like the one who passed by a town while it had tumbled over its roofs. He said: "Oh! How will Allah ever bring it to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long did you remain (dead)?" He (the man) said: "(Perhaps) I remained (dead) a day or part of a day". He said: "Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years, look at your food and your drink, they show no change; and look at your donkey! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh". When this was clearly shown to him, he said, "I know (now) that Allah is Able to do all things."
Transliteration
Aw kaallathee marra AAala qaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshiha qala anna yuhyee hathihi Allahu baAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu miata AAamin thumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtu yawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta miata AAamin faonthur ilataAAamika washarabika lam yatasannah waonthur ilahimarika walinajAAalaka ayatan lilnnasi waonthur ila alAAithami kayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahman falamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

অথবা তুমি কি সেই ব্যক্তিকে দেখ নাই, যে এমন এক নগরে উপনীত হইয়াছিল যাহা ধ্বংসস্তূপে পরিণত হইয়াছিল। সে বলিল, ‘মৃত্যুর পর কিরূপে ইহাকে জীবিত করিবেন?’ তৎপর তাহাকে একশত বৎসর মৃত রাখিলেন। পরে তাহাকে পুনর্জীবিত করিলেন। বলিলেন, ‘তুমি কত কাল অবস্থান করিলে?’ সে বলিল, ‘এক দিন অথবা এক দিনেরও কিছু কম অবস্থান করিয়াছি।’ তিনি বলিলেন, ‘না, বরং তুমি একশত বৎসর অবস্থান করিয়াছ। তোমার খাদ্যসামগ্রী ও পানীয় বস্তুর প্রতি লক্ষ্য কর, উহা অবিকৃত রহিয়াছে এবং তোমার গর্দভটির প্রতি লক্ষ্য কর, কারণ তোমাকে মানবজাতির জন্য নিদর্শনস্বরূপ করিব। আর অস্থিগুলির প্রতি লক্ষ্য কর; কিভাবে সেইগুলিকে সংযোজিত করি এবং গোশ্ত্ দ্বারা ঢাকিয়া দেই।’ যখন ইহা তাহার নিকট স্পষ্ট হইল তখন সে বলিয়া উঠিল, ‘আমি জানি যে, নিশ্চয়ই সর্ববিষয়ে সর্বশক্তিমান।’
And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said, "My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead." He (Allah) said: "Do you not believe?" He [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Yes (I believe), but to be stronger in Faith." He said: "Take four birds, then cause them to incline towards you (then slaughter them, cut them into pieces), and then put a portion of them on every hill, and call them, they will come to you in haste. And know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise."
Transliteration
Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi arinee kayfa tuhyee almawta qala awalam tumin qala bala walakin liyatmainna qalbee qala fakhuth arbaAAatan mina alttayri fasurhunna ilayka thumma ijAAal AAala kulli jabalin minhunna juzan thumma odAAuhunna yateenaka saAAyan waiAAlam anna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun

যখন ইব্রাহীম বলিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! কিভাবে তুমি মৃতকে জীবিত কর আমাকে দেখাও।’ তিনি বলিলেন, ‘তবে কি তুমি বিশ্বাস কর না?’ সে বলিল, ‘কেন করিব না, তবে ইহা কেবল আমার চিত্ত প্রশান্তির জন্য।’ তিনি বলিলেন, ‘তবে চারটি পাখি লও এবং উহাদেরকে তোমার বশীভূত করিয়া লও। তৎপর তাহাদের এক এক অংশ এক এক পাহাড়ে স্থাপন কর। অতঃপর উহাদেরকে ডাক দাও, উহারা দ্রুতগতিতে তোমার নিকট আসিবে। জানিয়া রাখ ‘নিশ্চয়ই প্রবল পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।’
The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.
যাহারা নিজেদের ধনৈশ্বর্য র পথে ব্যয় করে তাহাদের উপমা একটি শস্যবীজ, যাহা সাতটি শীষ উৎপাদন করে, প্রত্যেক শীষে একশত শস্যদানা। যাহাকে ইচ্ছা বহু গুণে বৃদ্ধি করিয়া দেন। প্রাচুর্যময়, সর্বজ্ঞ।
Those who spend their wealth in the Cause of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
যাহারা র পথে ধনৈশ্বর্য ব্যয় করে অতঃপর যাহা ব্যয় করে তাহার কথা বলিয়া বেড়ায় না এবং ক্লেশও দেয় না, তাহাদের পুরস্কার তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট আছে। তাহাদের কোন ভয় নাই এবং তাহারা দুঃখিতও হইবে না।
Kind words and forgiving of faults are better than Sadaqah (charity) followed by injury. And Allah is Rich (Free of all needs) and He is Most-Forbearing.
O you who believe! Do not render in vain your Sadaqah (charity) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men, and he does not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day. His likeness is the likeness of a smooth rock on which is a little dust; on it falls heavy rain which leaves it bare. They are not able to do anything with what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.
Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tubtiloo sadaqatikum bialmanni waalatha kaallathee yunfiqu malahu riaa alnnasi wala yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwanin AAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilun fatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAala shayin mimma kasaboo waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireena

হে মু’মিনগণ! দানের কথা বলিয়া বেড়াইয়া এবং কষ্ট দিয়া তোমরা তোমাদের দানকে ঐ ব্যক্তির ন্যায় নিষ্ফল করিও না, যে নিজের ধনসম্পদ লোক দেখানোর জন্য ব্যয় করিয়া থাকে এবং ও আখিরাতে ঈমান রাখে না। তাহার উপমা একটি মসৃণ পাথর - যাহার উপর কিছু মাটি থাকে; অতঃপর উহার উপর প্রবল বৃষ্টিপাত উহাকে পরিষ্কার করিয়া রাখিয়া দেয়। যাহা তাহারা উপার্জন করিয়াছে তাহার কিছুই তাহারা তাহাদের কাজে লাগাইতে সক্ষম হইবে না। সম্প্রদায়কে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন না।
And the likeness of those who spend their wealth seeking Allah's Pleasure while they in their ownselves are sure and certain that Allah will reward them (for their spending in His Cause), is the likeness of a garden on a height; heavy rain falls on it and it doubles its yield of harvest. And if it does not receive heavy rain, light rain suffices it. And Allah is All-Seer (knows well) of what you do.
আর যাহারা র সন্তুষ্টি লাভার্থে ও নিজেদের আত্মা বলিষ্ঠ করণার্থে ধনৈশ্বর্য ব্যয় করে তাহাদের উপমা কোন উচ্চ ভূমিতে অবস্থিত একটি উদ্যান, যাহাতে মুষলধারে বৃষ্টি হয়, ফলে তাহার ফলমূল দ্বিগুণ জন্মে। যদি মুষলধারে বৃষ্টি নাও হয় তবে লঘু বৃষ্টিই যথেষ্ট। তোমরা যাহা কর তাহার সম্যক দ্রষ্টা।
Would any of you wish to have a garden with date-palms and vines, with rivers flowing underneath, and all kinds of fruits for him therein, while he is striken with old age, and his children are weak (not able to look after themselves), then it is struck with a fiery whirlwind, so that it is burnt? Thus does Allah make clear His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses) to you that you may give thought.
Transliteration
Ayawaddu ahadukum an takoona lahu jannatun min nakheelin waaAAnabin tajree min tahtiha alanharu lahu feeha min kulli alththamarati waasabahu alkibaru walahu thurriyyatun duAAafao faasabaha iAAsarun feehi narun faihtaraqat kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroona

তোমাদের কেহ কি চায় যে, তাহার খেজুর ও আঙুরের একটি বাগান থাকে যাহার পাদদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত এবং যাহাতে সর্বপ্রকার ফলমূল আছে, যখন সে ব্যক্তি বার্ধক্যে উপনীত হয় এবং তাহার সন্তান - সন্ততি দুর্বল, অতঃপর উহার উপর এক অগ্নিক্ষরা ঘূর্ণিঝড় আপতিত হয় ও উহা জ্বলিয়া যায়? এইভাবে তাঁহার নিদর্শন তোমাদের জন্য সুস্পষ্টভাবে ব্যক্ত করেন যাহাতে তোমরা অনুধাবন করিতে পার।
O you who believe! Spend of the good things which you have (legally) earned, and of that which We have produced from the earth for you, and do not aim at that which is bad to spend from it, (though) you would not accept it save if you close your eyes and tolerate therein. And know that Allah is Rich (Free of all needs), and Worthy of all praise.
Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo anfiqoo min tayyibati ma kasabtum wamimma akhrajna lakum mina alardi wala tayammamoo alkhabeetha minhu tunfiqoona walastum biakhitheehi illa an tughmidoo feehi waiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghaniyyun hameedun

হে মু’মিনগণ ! তোমরা যাহা উপার্জন কর এবং আমি যাহা ভূমি হইতে তোমাদের জন্য উৎপাদন করিয়া দেই তন্মধ্যে যাহা উৎকৃষ্ট তাহা ব্যয় কর ; এবং উহার নিকৃষ্ট বস্তু ব্যয় করার সংকল্প করিও না : অথচ তোমরা উহা গ্রহণ করিবার নও, যদি না তোমরা চক্ষু বন্ধ করিয়া থাক। এবং জানিয়া রাখ যে,নিশ্চয়ই অভাবমুক্ত, প্রশংসিত।
Shaitan (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahsha (evil deeds, illegal sexual intercourse, sins); whereas Allah promises you Forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.
He grants Hikmah to whom He pleases, and he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding.
Transliteration
Yutee alhikmata man yashao waman yuta alhikmata faqad ootiya khayran katheeran wama yaththakkaru illa oloo alalbabi

তিনি যাহাকে ইচ্ছা হিক্মত প্রদান করেন এবং যাহাকে হিক্মত প্রদান করা হয় তাহাকে প্রভূত কল্যাণ দান করা হয়; এবং বোধশক্তিসম্পন্ন লোকেরাই শুধু শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করে।
And whatever you spend for spendings (e.g., in Sadaqah - charity for Allah's Cause) or whatever vow you make, be sure Allah knows it all. And for the Zalimun (wrong-doers) there are no helpers.
Transliteration
Wama anfaqtum min nafaqatin aw nathartum min nathrin fainna Allaha yaAAlamuhu wama lilththalimeena min ansarin

যাহা কিছু তোমরা ব্যয় কর অথবা যাহা কিছু তোমরা মানত কর নিশ্চয়ই তাহা জানেন। আর জালিমদের জন্য কোন সাহায্যকারী নাই।
If you disclose your Sadaqat (alms-giving), it is well; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, that is better for you. (Allah) will expiate you some of your sins. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
Transliteration
In tubdoo alssadaqati faniAAimma hiya wain tukhfooha watutooha alfuqaraa fahuwa khayrun lakum wayukaffiru AAankum min sayyiatikum waAllahu bima taAAmaloona khabeerun

তোমরা যদি প্রকাশ্যে দান কর তবে উহা ভাল ; আর যদি তাহা গোপনে কর এবং অভাবগ্রস্তকে দান কর তাহা তোমাদের জন্য আরও ভাল ; এবং তিনি তোমাদের কিছু কিছু পাপ মোচন করিবেন; তোমরা যাহা কর তাহা সম্যক অবহিত।
Not upon you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills. And whatever you spend in good, it is for yourselves, when you spend not except seeking Allah's Countenance. And whatever you spend in good, it will be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.
Transliteration
Laysa AAalayka hudahum walakinna Allaha yahdee man yashao wama tunfiqoo min khayrin falianfusikum wama tunfiqoona illa ibtighaa wajhi Allahi wama tunfiqoo min khayrin yuwaffa ilaykum waantum la tuthlamoona

তাহাদের সৎপথ গ্রহণের দায়িত্ব তোমার নহে ; বরং যাহাকে ইচ্ছা সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন। যে ধন - সম্পদ তোমরা ব্যয় কর তাহা তোমাদের নিজেদের জন্য এবং তোমরা তো শুধু র সন্তুষ্টি লাভার্থেই ব্যয় করিয়া থাক। যে ধন - সম্পদ তোমরা ব্যয় কর তাহার পুরস্কার তোমাদেরকে পুরাপুরিভাবে প্রদান করা হইবে এবং তোমাদের প্রতি অন্যায় করা হইবে না।
(Charity is) for Fuqara (the poor), who in Allah's Cause are restricted (from travel), and cannot move about in the land (for trade or work). The one who knows them not, thinks that they are rich because of their modesty. You may know them by their mark, they do not beg of people at all. And whatever you spend in good, surely, Allah knows it well.
Transliteration
Lilfuqarai allatheena ohsiroo fee sabeeli Allahi la yastateeAAoona darban fee alardi yahsabuhumu aljahilu aghniyaa mina alttaAAaffufi taAArifuhum biseemahum la yasaloona alnnasa ilhafan wama tunfiqoo min khayrin fainna Allaha bihi AAaleemun

ইহা প্রাপ্য অভাবগ্রস্ত লোকদের; যাহারা র পথে এমনভাবে ব্যাপৃত যে, দেশময় ঘোরাফেরা করিতে পারে না ; যাচ্ঞা না করার কারণে অজ্ঞ লোকেরা তাহাদেরকে অভাবমুক্ত বলিয়া মনে করে; তুমি তাহাদের লক্ষণ দেখিয়া চিনিতে পারিবে। তাহারা মানুষের নিকট নাছোড় হইয়া যাচ্ঞা করে না। যে ধন - সম্পদ তোমরা ব্যয় কর তো তাহা সবিশেষ অবহিত।
Those who spend their wealth (in Allah's Cause) by night and day, in secret and in public, they shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
যাহারা নিজেদের ধনৈশ্বর্য রাত্রে ও দিবসে, গোপনে ও প্রকাশ্যে ব্যয় করে তাহাদের পুণ্য ফল তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট রহিয়াছে, তাহাদের কোন ভয় নাই এবং তাহারা দুঃখিতও হইবে না।
Those who eat Riba (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like Riba (usury)," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba (usury). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Riba (usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allah (to judge); but whoever returns [to Riba (usury)], such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein.
Transliteration
Allatheena yakuloona alrriba la yaqoomoona illa kama yaqoomu allathee yatakhabbatuhu alshshaytanu mina almassi thalika biannahum qaloo innama albayAAu mithlu alrriba waahalla Allahu albayAAa waharrama alrriba faman jaahu mawAAithatun min rabbihi faintaha falahu ma salafa waamruhu ila Allahi waman AAada faolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

যাহারা সুদ খায় তাহারা সেই ব্যক্তিরই ন্যায় দাঁড়াইবে যাহাকে শয়তান স্পর্শ দ্বারা পাগল করে। ইহা এইজন্য যে, তাহারা বলে, ‘ক্রয় - বিক্রয় তো সুদের মতই।’ অথচ ক্রয় - বিক্রয়কে হালাল ও সুদকে হারাম করিয়াছেন। যাহার নিকট তাহার প্রতিপালকের উপদেশ আসিয়াছে এবং সে বিরত হইয়াছে, তবে অতীতে যাহা হইয়াছে তাহা তাহারই; এবং তাহার ব্যাপার র ইখ্তিয়ারে। আর যাহারা পুনরায় আরম্ভ করিবে তাহারাই দোজখবাসী, সেখানে তাহারা স্থায়ী হইবে।
Truly those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat they will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
নিশ্চয়ই যাহারা ঈমান আনে, সৎকাজ করে, কায়েম করে এবং যাকাত দেয়, তাহাদের পুরস্কার তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট আছে। তাহাদের কোন ভয় নাই এবং তাহারা দুঃখিতও হইবে না।
And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums).
Transliteration
Fain lam tafAAaloo fathanoo biharbin mina Allahi warasoolihi wain tubtum falakum ruoosu amwalikum la tathlimoona wala tuthlamoona

যদি তোমরা না ছাড় তবে ও তাঁহার রাসূলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধের জন্য প্রস্তুত হও। কিন্তু যদি তোমরা তওবা কর তবে তোমাদের মূলধন তোমাদেরই। ইহাতে তোমরা অত্যাচার করিবে না এবং অত্যাচারিতও হইবে না।
And if the debtor is in a hard time (has no money), then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay, but if you remit it by way of charity, that is better for you if you did but know.
Transliteration
Wain kana thoo AAusratin fanathiratun ila maysaratin waan tasaddaqoo khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona

যদি খাতক অভাবগ্রস্ত হয় তবে সচ্ছলতা পর্যন্ত তাহাকে অবকাশ দেওয়া বিধেয়। আর যদি তোমরা ছাড়িয়া দাও তবে উহা তোমাদের জন্য কল্যাণকর, যদি তোমরা জানিতে।
And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allah. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.
Transliteration
Waittaqoo yawman turjaAAoona feehi ila Allahi thumma tuwaffa kullu nafsin ma kasabat wahum la yuthlamoona

তোমরা সেই দিনকে ভয় কর যে দিন তোমরা র দিকে প্রত্যানীত হইবে। অতঃপর প্রত্যেককে তাহার কর্মের ফল পুরাপুরি প্রদান করা হইবে, আর তাহাদের প্রতি কোনরূপ অন্যায় করা হইবে না।
O you who believe! When you contract a debt for a fixed period, write it down. Let a scribe write it down in justice between you. Let not the scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him, so let him write. Let him (the debtor) who incurs the liability dictate, and he must fear Allah, his Lord, and diminish not anything of what he owes. But if the debtor is of poor understanding, or weak, or is unable to dictate for himself, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are not two men (available), then a man and two women, such as you agree for witnesses, so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her. And the witnesses should not refuse when they are called (for evidence). You should not become weary to write it (your contract), whether it be small or big, for its fixed term, that is more just with Allah; more solid as evidence, and more convenient to prevent doubts among yourselves, save when it is a present trade which you carry out on the spot among yourselves, then there is no sin on you if you do not write it down. But take witnesses whenever you make a commercial contract. Let neither scribe nor witness suffer any harm, but if you do (such harm), it would be wickedness in you. So be afraid of Allah; and Allah teaches you. And Allah is the All-Knower of each and everything.
Transliteration

হে মু’মিনগণ! তোমরা যখন একে অন্যের সঙ্গে নির্ধারিত সময়ের জন্য ঋণের কারবার কর তখন উহা লিখিয়া রাখিও; তোমাদের মধ্যে কোন লেখক যেন ন্যায্যভাবে লিখিয়া দেয়; লেখক লিখিতে অস্বীকার করিবে না। যেমন তাহাকে শিক্ষা দিয়াছেন, সুতরাং সে যেন লিখে এবং ঋণগ্রহীতা যেন লেখার বিষয়বস্তু বলিয়া দেয় এবং তাহার প্রতিপালক কে ভয় করে, আর উহার কিছু যেন না কমায়; কিন্তু ঋণগ্রহীতা যদি নির্বোধ অথবা দুর্বল হয় অথবা লেখার বিষয়বস্তু বলিয়া দিতে না পারে তবে যেন তাহার অভিভাবক ন্যায্যভাবে লেখার বিষয়বস্তু বলিয়া দেয়। সাক্ষীদের মধ্যে যাহাদের উপর তোমরা রাযী তাহাদের মধ্যে দুইজন পুরুষ সাক্ষী রাখিবে, যদি দুইজন পুরুষ না থাকে তবে একজন পুরুষ ও দুইজন স্ত্রীলোক ; স্ত্রীলোকদের মধ্যে একজন ভুল করিলে তাহাদের একজন অপরজনকে স্মরণ করাইয়া দিবে। সাক্ষীগণকে যখন ডাকা হইবে তখন তাহারা যেন অস্বীকার না করে। ইহা ছোট হউক অথবা বড় হউক, মেয়াদসহ লিখিতে তোমরা কোনরূপ বিরক্ত হইও না। র নিকট ইহা ন্যায্যতর ও প্রমাণের জন্য দৃঢ়তর এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে সন্দেহ উদ্রেক না হওয়ার নিকটতর; কিন্তু তোমরা পরস্পর যে ব্যবসায় নগদ আদান - প্রদান কর তাহা তোমরা না লিখিলে কোন দোষ নাই। তোমরা যখন পরস্পরের মধ্যে বেচাকেনা কর তখন সাক্ষী রাখিও, লেখক এবং সাক্ষী যেন ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত না হয়। যদি তোমরা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত কর তবে ইহা তোমাদের জন্য পাপ। তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং তিনি তোমাদেরকে শিক্ষা দেন। সর্ববিষয়ে অবহিত।
And if you are on a journey and cannot find a scribe, then let there be a pledge taken (mortgaging) ; then if one of you entrust the other, let the one who is entrusted discharge his trust (faithfully), and let him be afraid of Allah, his Lord. And conceal not the evidence for he, who hides it, surely his heart is sinful. And Allah is All-Knower of what you do.
যদি তোমরা সফরে থাক এবং কোন লেখক না পাও তবে হস্তান্তরকৃত বন্ধক রাখিবে। তোমাদের একে অপরকে বিশ্বাস করিলে, যাহাকে বিশ্বাস করা হয় সে যেন আমানত প্রত্যর্পণ করে এবং তাহার প্রতিপালক কে ভয় করে। তোমরা সাক্ষ্য গোপন করিও না, যে কেহ উহা গোপন করে অবশ্যই তাহার অন্তর পাপী। তোমরা যাহা কর তাহা সবিশেষ অবহিত।
To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things.
Transliteration
Lillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wain tubdoo ma fee anfusikum aw tukhfoohu yuhasibkum bihi Allahu fayaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibu man yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

আসমান ও যমীনে যাহা কিছু আছে সমস্ত রই। তোমাদের মনে যাহা আছে, তাহা প্রকাশ কর অথবা গোপন রাখ, উহার হিসাব তোমাদের নিকট হইতে গ্রহণ করিবেন। অতঃপর যাহাকে ইচ্ছা তিনি ক্ষমা করিবেন এবং যাহাকে খুশি শাস্তি দিবেন। সর্ববিষয়ে সর্বশক্তিমান।
The Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. (They say), "We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers" - and they say, "We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all)."
Transliteration
Amana alrrasoolu bima onzila ilayhi min rabbihi waalmuminoona kullun amana biAllahi wamalaikatihi wakutubihi warusulihi la nufarriqu bayna ahadin min rusulihi waqaloo samiAAna waataAAna ghufranaka rabbana wailayka almaseeru

রাসূল, তাহার প্রতি তাহার প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ হইতে যাহা অবতীর্ণ হইয়াছে তাহাতে ঈমান আনিয়াছে এবং মু’মিনগণও। তাহাদের সকলে আল্লাহে, তাঁহার ফিরিশতাগণে, তাঁহার কিতাবসমূহে এবং তাঁহার রাসূলগণে ঈমান আনিয়াছে। তাহারা বলে, ‘আমরা তাঁহার রাসূলগণের মধ্যে কোন তারতম্য করি না’, আর তাহারা বলে, ‘আমরা শুনিয়াছি এবং পালন করিয়াছি। হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! আমরা তোমার ক্ষমা চাই আর প্রত্যাবর্তন তোমারই নিকট।’
Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people. "
Transliteration
La yukallifu Allahu nafsan illa wusAAaha laha ma kasabat waAAalayha ma iktasabat rabbana la tuakhithna in naseena aw akhtana rabbana wala tahmil AAalayna isran kamahamaltahu AAala allatheena min qablina rabbana wala tuhammilna ma lataqata lana bihi waoAAfu AAanna waighfir lana wairhamna anta mawlana faonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena

কাহারও উপর এমন কোন কষ্টদায়ক দায়িত্ব অর্পণ করেন না যাহা তাহার সাধ্যাতীত। সে ভাল যাহা উপার্জন করে তাহার প্রতিফল তাহারই এবং সে মন্দ যাহা উপার্জন করে তাহার প্রতিফল তাহারই। ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! যদি আমরা বিস্মৃত হই অথবা ভুল করি তবে তুমি আমাদেরকে পাকড়াও করিও না। হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক ! আমাদের পূর্ববর্তিগণের উপর যেমন গুরুদায়িত্ব অর্পণ করিয়াছিলে আমাদের উপর তেমন দায়িত্ব অর্পণ করিও না। হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক ! এমন ভার আমাদের উপর অর্পণ করিও না যাহা বহন করার শক্তি আমাদের নাই। আমাদের পাপ মোচন কর, আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা কর, আমাদের প্রতি দয়া কর, তুমিই আমাদের অভিভাবক। সুতরাং সম্প্রদায়ের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদেরকে সাহায্য কর।’
