Chapter 80, 42 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. He frowned and turned away
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because the blind man came unto him.
And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)
Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?
Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him ?
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
As for him who thinketh himself independent,
To him you attend;
so widmest du dich ihm,
Unto him thou payest regard.
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).
Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).
But as to him who came to you running,
But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose
And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
And hath fear,
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
From him thou art distracted.
Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment,
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
So let whosoever will pay heed to it,
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
On honoured leaves
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted, purified,
In the hands of scribes (angels).
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
(Set down) by scribes
Honourable and obedient.
edlen, frommen.
Noble and righteous.
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Man is (self - )destroyed: how ungrateful!
From what thing did He create him?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From what thing doth He create him ?
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.
From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him,
Then He makes the Path easy for him.
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then maketh the way easy for him,
Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then causeth him to die, and burieth him;
Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life.
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
Keineswegs!
Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him.
Then let man look at his food:
So schaue der Mensch doch auf seine Nahrung:
Let man consider his food:
We pour forth water in abundance.
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
How We pour water in showers
And We split the earth in clefts.
Then split the earth in clefts
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And cause the grain to grow therein
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And grapes and green fodder
And olives and date-palms,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And olive - trees and palm - trees
And gardens dense with many trees,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And garden - closes of thick foliage
And fruits and herbage
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruits and grasses:
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
Provision for you and your cattle.
Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
But when the Shout cometh
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
On the day when a man fleeth from his brother
And from his mother and his father,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And his mother and his father
And from his wife and his children.
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And his wife and his children,
Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.
Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).
Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
On that day faces will be bright as dawn,
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, rejoicing at good news;
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.
And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them,
Darkness will cover them.
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Veiled in darkness,
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked.
