In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Chapter 80, 42 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because there came to him the blind man.
And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
And what would make you know that he would purify himself,
Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?
Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),
To him you attend;
so widmest du dich ihm,
To him do you address yourself.
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself
But as to him who came to you running,
And as to him who comes to you striving hard,
And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
And he fears,
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
From him will you divert yourself.
Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
Nay! surely it is an admonishment.
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
So let him who pleases mind it.
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
In honored books,
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted, purified,
In the hands of scribes (angels).
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
In the hands of scribes
Honourable and obedient.
edlen, frommen.
Noble, virtuous.
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!
From what thing did He create him?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
Of what thing did He create him?
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.
Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,
Then He makes the Path easy for him.
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)
Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,
Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
Keineswegs!
Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.
Then let man look at his food:
Then let man look to his food,
We pour forth water in abundance.
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,
And We split the earth in clefts.
Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
Then We cause to grow therein the grain,
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And grapes and clover,
And olives and date-palms,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And the olive and the palm,
And gardens dense with many trees,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And thick gardens,
And fruits and herbage
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruits and herbage
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
A provision for you and for your cattle.
Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
But when the deafening cry comes,
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,
And from his mother and his father,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And his mother and his father,
And from his wife and his children.
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And his spouse and his son - -
Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.
Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.
Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
(Many) faces on that day shall be bright,
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, joyous.
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.
And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,
Darkness will cover them.
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Darkness shall cover them.
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.
