Chapter 85, 22 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By the heaven holding the big stars.
শপথ গ্রহ - নক্ষত্র শোভিত আকাশের,
কক্ষপথ বিশিষ্ট আসমানের কসম,
And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
এবং প্রতিশ্রুত দিবসের,
আর ওয়াদাকৃত দিনের কসম,
And by the Witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the Witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah];
এবং সেই দিবসের, যে উপস্থিত হয় ও যাতে উপস্থিত হয়
আর কসম সাক্ষ্যদাতার এবং যার ব্যাপারে সাক্ষ্য দেয়া হবে তার,
Cursed were the people of the Ditch (in the story of the Boy and the King).
অভিশপ্ত হয়েছে গর্ত ওয়ালারা অর্থাৎ,
ধ্বংস হয়েছে গর্তের অধিপতিরা,
Of fire fed with fuel,
অনেক ইন্ধনের অগ্নিসংযোগকারীরা;
(যাতে ছিল) ইন্ধনপূর্ণ আগুন।
When they sat by it (fire),
যখন তারা তার কিনারায় বসেছিল।
যখন তারা তার কিনারায় উপবিষ্ট ছিল।
And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them).
এবং তারা বিশ্বাসীদের সাথে যা করেছিল, তা নিরীক্ষণ করছিল।
আর তারা মুমিনদের সাথে যা করছিল তার প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী।
And they had no fault except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise!
তারা তাদেরকে শাস্তি দিয়েছিল শুধু এ কারণে যে, তারা প্রশংসিত, পরাক্রান্ত আল্লাহর প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছিল,
আর তারা তাদেরকে নির্যাতন করেছিল শুধুমাত্র এ কারণে যে, তারা মহাপরাক্রমশালী প্রশংসিত আল্লাহর প্রতি ঈমান এনেছিল।
To Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything.
যিনি নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডলের ক্ষমতার মালিক, আল্লাহর সামনে রয়েছে সবকিছু।
আসমানসমূহ ও যমীনের রাজত্ব যার। আর প্রতিটি বিষয়ের প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী।
Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance (to Allah), then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire.
যারা পুরুষ ও নারীকে নিপীড়ন করেছে, অতঃপর তওবা করেনি, তাদের জন্যে আছে জাহান্নামের শাস্তি, আর আছে দহন যন্ত্রণা,
নিশ্চয় যারা পুরুষ ও নারীদেরকে আযাব দেয়, তারপর তাওবা করে না, তাদের জন্য রয়েছে জাহান্নামের আযাব। আর তাদের জন্য রয়েছে আগুনে দগ্ধ হওয়ার আযাব।
Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success.
যারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে তাদের জন্যে আছে জান্নাত, যার তলদেশে প্রবাহিত হয় নির্ঝরিণীসমূহ। এটাই মহাসাফল্য।
নিশ্চয় যারা ঈমান আনে এবং সৎকর্ম করে তাদের জন্য রয়েছে জান্নাত। যার তলদেশে প্রবাহিত হবে নহরসমূহ। এটাই বিরাট সফলতা।
Verily, (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the Seizure (punishment) of your Lord is severe and painful. [See V.11:102].
নিশ্চয় তোমার পালনকর্তার পাকড়াও অত্যন্ত কঠিন।
নিশ্চয় তোমার রবের পাকড়াও বড়ই কঠিন।
Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection).
তিনিই প্রথমবার অস্তিত্ব দান করেন এবং পুনরায় জীবিত করেন।
নিশ্চয় তিনি সৃষ্টির সূচনা করেন এবং তিনিই পুনরায় সৃষ্টি করবেন।
And He is Oft-Forgiving, full of love (towards the pious who are real true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
তিনি ক্ষমাশীল, প্রেমময়;
আর তিনি অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল, প্রেমময়।
Owner of the throne, the Glorious,
মহান আরশের অধিকারী।
আরশের অধিপতি, মহান।
(He is the) Doer of whatsoever He intends (or wills).
তিনি যা চান, তাই করেন।
তিনি তা-ই করেন যা চান ।
Has the story reached you of the hosts,
আপনার কাছে সৈন্যবাহিনীর ইতিবৃত্ত পৌছেছে কি?
তোমার কাছে কি সৈন্যবাহিনীর খবর পৌঁছেছে?
Of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and Thamud?
ফেরাউনের এবং সামুদের?
ফির‘আউন ও সামূদের।
Nay! The disbelievers (persisted) in denying (Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Message of Islamic Monotheism).
বরং যারা , তারা মিথ্যারোপে রত আছে।
বরং কাফিররা মিথ্যারোপে লিপ্ত।
And Allah encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds).
তাদেরকে চতুর্দিক থেকে পরিবেষ্টন করে রেখেছেন।
আর তাদের অলক্ষ্যে তাদের পরিবেষ্টনকারী।
Nay! This is a Glorious Qur'an,
বরং এটা মহান কোরআন,
বরং তা সম্মানিত কুরআন।
(Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)!
লওহে মাহফুযে লিপিবদ্ধ।
সুরক্ষিত ফলকে (লিপিবদ্ধ)।
