1 In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).

১ ঘড়িঘন্টা সমাগত, আর চন্দ্র দ্বিখন্ডিত হয়েছে।

١ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ

2 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."

২ আর যদি তারা কোনো নিদর্শন দেখে, তারা ফিরে যায় ও বলে - - ''এক জবরদস্ত জাদু।’’

٢ وَإِن يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ

٢ وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ

3 They belied (the Verses of Allah - this Qur'an), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled (according to the kind of deeds: good deeds will take their doers to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell).

৩ আর তারা প্রত্যাখ্যান করে এবং তারা তাদের খেয়ালখুশির অনুসরণ করে, অথচ প্রত্যেক বিষয়েরই নিস্পত্তি হয়েই গেছে।

٣ وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ

4 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur'an) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),

৪ আর তাদের কাছে অবশ্য কিছুটা সংবাদ এসেই গেছে যাতে রয়েছে প্রতিষেধক - -

٤ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُم مِّنَ الْأَنبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ

5 Perfect wisdom (this Qur'an), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not.

৫ এক সুপরিণত জ্ঞান, কিন্তু এ সতর্কীকরণ কোনো কাজে আসে না।

٥ حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ

6 So (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.

৬ কাজেই তাদের থেকে ফিরে এস। একদিন আহ্বানকারী আহ্বান করবেন এক অপ্রীতিকর ব্যাপারের প্রতি - -

٦ فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُّكُرٍ

7 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,

৭ তাদের চোখ অবনত অবস্থায়, তারা বেরিয়ে আসতে থাকবে কবর থেকে যেন তারা ছড়িয়ে পড়া পঙ্গপাল - -

٧ خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ

8 Hastening towards the caller. The disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day."

৮ ওরা আহবায়কের প্রতি ছুটে আসবে। অবিশ্বাসীরা বলবে - - ''এইটি বড় কঠিন দিন!’’

٨ مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ

٨ مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ

9 The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them. They rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.

৯ এদের আগে নূহ - এর লোকদল সত্যপ্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল, ফলে তারা আমাদের বান্দাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করল ও বললে - - ''এক টি পাগল’’! আর তাঁকে অবজ্ঞা করা হয়েছিল।

٩ ۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ

10 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!"

১০ সেজন্য তিনি তাঁর প্রভুকে ডেকে বললেন - - ''আমি তো পরাভূত হয়ে পড়েছি, অতএব তুমি সাহায্য করো।’’

11 So We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring forth.

১১ তখন আমরা আসমানের দরজাগুলো খুলে দিলাম বর্ষণশীল পানির দ্বারা,

12 And We caused springs to gush forth from the earth. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.

১২ আর জমিনকে উৎক্ষেপ করতে দিলাম ঝরনাধারায়, ফলে পানি মিলিত হয়ে গেল এক পূর্বনির্ধারিত ব্যাপারে,

١٢ وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ

১৩ আর আমরা তাঁকে বহন করলাম তাতে যা ছিল তক্তা ও পেরেক সন্বলিত, - -

١٣ وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ

14 Floating under Our Eyes: a reward for him who had been rejected!

১৪ তা ভেসে চলেছিল আমাদের চোখের সামনে, - - এক প্রতিদান তাঁর জন্য যাঁকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করা হয়েছিল।

١٤ تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ

15 And indeed, We have left this as a sign. Then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

১৫ আর আমরা অবশ্য এটিকে রেখে দিয়েছি এক নিদর্শনরূপে। কিন্তু কেউ কি রয়েছে উপদেশপ্রাপ্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত?

১৭ আর আমরা তো অবশ্যই কুরআনকে উপদেশগ্রহণের জন্য সহজবোধ্য করে দিয়েছি, কিন্তু কেউ কি আছে যে উপদেশপ্রাপ্তদের মধ্যেকার?

١٧ وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

18 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud); then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?

১৮ আর 'আদ - জাতি সত্যপ্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল, কাজেই কেমন হয়েছিল আমার শাস্তি ও আমার সতর্কীকরণ!

19 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.

১৯ নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা তাদের উপরে এক চরম দুর্ভাগ্যের দিনে পাঠিয়েছিলাম এক প্রচন্ড ঝড় - তোফান,

২০ যা মানুষকে উড়িয়ে নিয়েছিল, যেন তারা ছিল উৎপাটিত খেজুরগাছের গুঁড়ি।

24 And they said: "A man, alone among us - shall we follow him? Truly then we should be in error and distress (or madness)!"

২৪ কাজেই তারা বলেছিল - - ''কী! আমাদের মধ্যেকার মানুষই একজন, তাকেই কি আমরা অনুসরণ করব? সেক্ষেত্রে আমরা তো নিশ্চয়ই বিপথগামী হব ও পাগলামিতে পড়ব।

٢٤ فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ

25 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih عليه السلام] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!"

২৫ ''আমাদের মধ্যে থেকে স্মারক কি তার উপরেই পতিত হল? বস্তুত সে একজন ডাহা মিথ্যাবাদী, দাম্ভিক।’’

26 Tomorrow they will come to know who is the liar, the insolent one!

২৬ কালকেই তারা ত্বরায় জানতে পারবে কে মিথ্যুক, কে দাম্ভিক।

27 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih عليه السلام], and be patient!

২৭ নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা একটি উষ্ট্রিকে পাঠাতে যাচ্ছি তাদের জন্য পরীক্ষাস্বরূপ, সেজন্য তাদের প্রতি লক্ষ্য রাখো এবং ধৈর্যধারণ করো।

٢٧ إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ

28 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them, each one's right to drink being established (by turns).

২৮ আর তাদের জানিয়ে দাও যে পানির ক্ষেত্রে তাদের মধ্যে ভাগাভাগি রয়েছে, প্রত্যেক জলপানে হাজিরা থাকবে।

٢٨ وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ

29 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).

২৯ কিন্তু তারা তাদের সেঙাৎকে ডাক দিল, তখন সে ধরল ও কেটে ফেলল।

31 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry), and they became like the stubble of a fold-builder.

৩১ আমরা অবশ্যই তাদের উপরে পাঠিয়েছিলাম একটিমাত্র মহাগর্জন, ফলে তারা হয়ে গেল খোঁয়াড় - প্রস্তুতকারীর শুকনো - ভাঙ্গা ডালপালার ন্যায়।

٣١ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ

34 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lut (Lot), them We saved in the last hour of the night,

৩৪ নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা তাদের উপরে পাঠিয়েছিলাম এক পাথর বর্ষণকারী ঝড়, - - লুত - এর পরিজনদের ব্যতীত, আমরা তাদের উদ্ধার করেছিলাম শেষরাতে - -

٣٤ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَاهُم بِسَحَرٍ

35 As a Favour from Us. Thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us).

৩৫ আমাদের তরফ থেকে এক অনুগ্রহ। এইভাবেই আমরা পুরস্কার দিই যে কৃতজ্ঞতা দেখায় তাকে।

٣٥ نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَن شَكَرَ

36 And he [Lut (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Seizure (punishment), but they did doubt the warnings!

৩৬ আর তিনি তো ইতিপূর্বেই তাদের সতর্ক করে দিয়েছিলেন আমাদের ভীষণভাবে পাকড়ানো সম্পর্কে, কিন্তু তারা আমার সতর্কীকরণ সন্বন্ধে কথা - কাটাকাটি করছিল।

٣٦ وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ

37 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, (saying) "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."

৩৭ আর তারা অবশ্য তাঁর কাছ থেকে তাঁর অতিথিদের চেয়েছিল, তখন আমরা তাদের চোখগুলোকে শেষ করে দিয়েছিলাম, ''অতএব আমার শাস্তি আস্বাদন কর আমার সতর্কীকরণের পরে।’’
