Chapter 84, 25 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. When the heaven is split asunder,
যখন আকাশ খন্ডবিখন্ড হবে,
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انشَقَّتْ
And listens to and obeys its Lord - and it must do so.
আর তার প্রভুর প্রতি উৎকর্ণ হবে এবং কর্তব্যরত হবে - -
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
And when the earth is stretched forth,
আর যখন পৃথিবীকে সমতল করা হবে,
وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
And has cast out all that was in it and became empty.
আর তার ভেতরে যা - কিছু রয়েছে তা নিক্ষেপ করবে এবং শূন্যগর্ভ হবে,
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
And listens to and obeys its Lord - and it must do so.
ফলে তার প্রভুর প্রতি উৎকর্ণ হবে এবং কর্তব্যরত হবে।
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, and you will meet (the results of your deeds which you did).
ওহে মানব! নিশ্চয় তোমার প্রভুর তরফে তোমাকে প্রচেষ্টা চালাতে হবে বিশেষ উদ্যমে, তাহলে তুমি তাঁর সাক্ষাৎ পাবে।
يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ
Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand,
সুতরাং তার ক্ষেত্রে যাকে তার নিবন্ধগ্রন্থ তার ডান হাতে দেওয়া হবে,
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ
He surely will receive an easy reckoning,
তাকে তো তবে হিসেব চুকিয়ে দেওয়া হবে সহজ হিসেবনিকেশে,
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
And will return to his family in joy!
আর সে তার স্বজনদের কাছে ফিরে যাবে খুশি হয়ে।
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
But whosoever is given his Record behind his back,
আর তার ক্ষেত্রে যাকে তার নিবন্ধগ্রন্থ তার পিঠের পশ্চাৎ দিকে দেওয়া হবে,
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ
He will invoke (for his) destruction,
সে তখনই ধ্বংসের জন্য আর্তনাদ করবে,
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا
And he shall enter a blazing Fire, and be made to taste its burning.
আর জ্বলন্ত আগুনে প্রবেশ করবে।
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
Verily, he was among his people in joy!
নিঃসন্দেহ সে তার স্বজনদের মধ্যে ফুর্তিতে ছিল।
إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)!
নিঃসন্দেহ সে ভেবেছিল যে সে কখনো ফিরে আসবে না।
إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!
না, নিঃসন্দেহ তার প্রভু বরাবর তার প্রতি দৃষ্টিদাতা।
بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا
So I swear by the afterglow of sunset;
কিন্ত না, আমি সাক্ষী করছি সূর্যাস্তের রক্তিমাভা,
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ
And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness,
আর রাত্রিকে ও যা - কিছু তা তাড়িয়ে নেয়,
وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
And by the moon when it is at the full.
আর চন্দ্রকে যখন সে পূর্ণাঙ্গতা পায়,
وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ
You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).
যেন তোমরা এক স্তর থেকে অন্য স্তরে আরোহণ করতে পারো।
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
What is the matter with them, that they believe not?
সুতরাং তাদের কী হয়েছে যে তারা ঈমান আনছে না,
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they fall not prostrate.
আর যখন তাদের নিকট কুরআন পাঠ করা হয় তখন তারা সিজদা করে না?
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩
Nay, those who disbelieve belie (Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and whatever he brought, i.e. this Qur'an and Islamic Monotheism, etc.).
পরন্তু যারা অবিশ্বাস করে তারা মিথ্যারোপ করে,
بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ
And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),
অথচ ভালো জানেন যা তারা লুকোচ্ছে।
وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
So announce to them a painful torment.
অতএব তাদের সুসংবাদ দাও মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তির,
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).
তারা ব্যতীত যারা ঈমান এনেছে ও সৎকাজ করছে, - - তাদের জন্য রয়েছে এক নিরবচ্ছিন্ন প্রতিদান।
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ
