Chapter 53, 62 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By the star when it goes down (or vanishes).
পরম দয়ালু, পরম ক্ষমাশীল আল্লাহর নামে; শপথ নক্ষত্রের, যখন তা অস্ত যায়।
বিসমিল্লাহির রাহমা-নির রাহি-ম অন্নাজমি ইযা-হাওয়া-।
Your companion (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has neither gone astray nor has erred.
তোমাদের সঙ্গী বিভ্রান্ত নয়, বিপথগামীও নয়,
মা-দ্বোয়াল্লা-ছোয়া-হিবুকুম্ অমা-গাওয়া-।
Nor does he speak of (his own) desire.
আর সে খেয়ালখুশি মতন কথা বলে না।
অমা-ইয়ান্ত্বিকু 'আনিল্ হাওয়া-।
It is only a Revelation revealed.
এটি তো কেবল ওহি, যা তার প্রতি ওহি করা হয়।
ইন্ হুওয়া ইল্লা-ওয়াহ্ইয়ুইঁ ইয়ূহা-।
He has been taught (this Qur'an) by one mighty in power [Jibril (Gabriel)]
তাকে শিক্ষা দিয়েছে প্রবল শক্তির অধিকারী।
'আল্লামাহূ শাদীদুল্ কুওয়া-।
One free from any defect in body and mind then he (Jibril - Gabriel in his real shape as created by Allah) rose and became stable.
শক্তির অধিকারী, অতঃপর সে স্থির হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিল।
যূ-র্মিরাহ্ ফাস্তাওয়া-।
While he [Jibril (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
আর সে ছিল সর্বোচ্চ দিগন্তে।
অহুওয়া বিল্উফুক্বিল্ 'আলা-।
Then he [Jibril (Gabriel)] approached and came closer,
এরপর সে কাছে এলো এবং আরো কাছে।
ছুম্মা দানা-ফাতাদাল্লা-।
And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer.
এরপর দুই ধনুকের মতো দূরত্বে, অথবা আরো কম।
ফাকা-না ক্ব-বা ক্বাওসাইনি আও আদ্না-।
So (Allah) revealed to His slave [Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم through Jibril (Gabriel) عليه السلام] whatever He revealed.
অতঃপর তিনি তাঁর দাসের প্রতি যা ওহি করার, তা ওহি করলেন।
এখানে أَوْحَىٰ এসেছে وحي (ওহি) থেকে। এর মূল অর্থ হলো গোপনে/বিশেষভাবে বার্তা জানানো, প্রকাশ করা, ওহি করা।
ফাআওহা য় ইলা-'আব্দিহী মা য় আওহা-।
The (Prophet's) heart lied not in what he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw.
সে যা দেখেছে, তার হৃদয় ভুল করেনি।
মা-কাযাবাল্ ফুয়া-দু মা-রায়া-
Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to the seven heavens)]
তোমরা কি তার সঙ্গে সে যা দেখে, সে বিষয়ে বিতর্ক করছো?
আফাতুমা-রূনাহূ 'আলা-মা-ইয়ারা-।
And indeed he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw him [Jibril (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time).
আর অবশ্যই সে তাঁকে আরেকবার দেখেছিল।
অলাক্বদ্ রায়া-হু নায্লাতান্ উখ্রা-।
Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (a lote-tree of the utmost boundary over the seventh heaven beyond which none can pass).
সিদরাতুল মুনতাহার কাছে,
'ইন্দা সিদ্রতিল্ মুন্তাহা-।
Near it is the Paradise of Abode.
তার কাছে মাওয়া বেহেশত।
'ইন্দাহা-জ্বান্নাতুল্ মাওয়া-।
When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it!
যখন সিদরাতকে যা ঢেকে দেওয়ার, তা ঢেকে দিচ্ছিল।
ইয্ ইয়াগ্শাস্ সিদ্রতা মা-ইয়াগ্শা-।
The sight (of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond the limit (ordained for it).
দৃষ্টি বিচ্যুত হয়নি এবং সীমালঙ্ঘনও করেনি।
মা-যা-গল্ বাছোয়ারু অমা-ত্বোয়াগা-।
Indeed he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) did see of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah).
নিশ্চয়ই সে তার পালনকর্তার মহান নিদর্শনসমূহের কিছু দেখেছিল।
লাক্বদ্ রয়া-মিন্ আ-ইয়া-তি রব্বিহিল্ কুব্র-।
Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs)
তোমরা কি ভেবে দেখেছো লাত ও উজ্জা সম্পর্কে?
আফারয়াইতুমুল্ লা-তা অল্ উ'য্যা-।
And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third?
এবং মানাত, তৃতীয় আর একটি?
অ মানা-তাছ্ ছা-লিছাতাল্ উখ্র-।
Is it for you the males and for Him the females?
তোমাদের জন্য কি পুত্রসন্তান, আর তার জন্য কন্যাসন্তান?
আলাকুমুয্ যাকারু অলাহুল্ উন্ছা-।
That indeed is a division most unfair!
এটি তো এক অন্যায় বণ্টন!
তিল্কা ইযান্ ক্বিস্মাতুন্ দ্বীযা-।
They are but names which you have named - you and your fathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord!
এগুলো তো কেবল নাম, যা তোমরা এবং তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা নাম দিয়েছো। এগুলোর কোনো প্রমাণ অবতীর্ণ করেননি। তারা তো কেবল অনুমান এবং নিজেদের খেয়ালখুশির অনুসরণ করে। অথচ তাদের কাছে তাদের পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে পথনির্দেশ এসেছে।
ইন্ হিয়া ইল্লা য় আস্মা-য়ুন্ সাম্মাইতুমূ হা য় আন্তুম্ অআ-বা-য়ুকুম্ মা য় আন্ যালা ল্লা-হু বিহা-মিন্ সুল্ত্বোয়া-ন্ ইঁ ইয়াত্তাবিঊ'না ইল্লাজ্জোয়ান্না অমা-তাহ্ওয়াল্ আন্ফুসু অলাক্বদ্ জ্বা-য়াহুম্ র্মি রব্বিহিমুল্ হুদা-।
Or shall man have what he wishes?
মানুষ কি যা ইচ্ছে করে তাই পায়?
আম্ লিল্ ইন্সা-নি মা- তামান্না-।
But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world).
অতঃপর শেষ ও প্রথম আল্লাহরই।
ফালিল্লা-হিল্ আ-খিরতু অল্ ঊলা-।
And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with.
আর আকাশসমূহে কত ফেরেশতা রয়েছে, যাদের সুপারিশ কোনো কাজে আসবে না, যতক্ষণ না যাকে ইচ্ছা এবং যার প্রতি সন্তুষ্ট, তার জন্য অনুমতি দেন।
অকাম্ মিম্ মালাকিন্ ফিস্ সামা-ওয়া-তি লা-তুগ্নী শাফা- 'আতুহুম্ শাইয়ান্ ইল্লা-মিম্ বা'দ্বি আইঁ ইয়া' যানা ল্লা-হু লিমাইঁইয়াশা-য়ু অইর্য়াদ্বোয়া-।
Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.
নিশ্চয়ই যারা পরকালে বিশ্বাস করে না, তারা ফেরেশতাদের নারীবাচক নাম দেয়।
ইন্নাল্লাযীনা লা-ইয়ুমিনূনা বিল্আ-খিরতি লাইয়ুসাম্মূ নাল্ মালা-য়িকাতা স্মিয়াতাল্ উন্ছা -।
But they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and verily, guess is no substitute for the truth.
আর তাদের কোনো জ্ঞান নেই এ বিষয়ে। তারা কেবল অনুমানের অনুসরণ করে। আর নিশ্চয়ই অনুমান সত্যের কোনো কাজে আসে না।
অমা-লাহুম্ বিহী মিন্ ই'ল্ম্ ইঁইয়াত্তাবি'ঊনা ইল্লাজ্ জোয়ান্না অইন্নাজ্ জোয়ান্না লা-ইয়ুগ্নী
Therefore withdraw (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from him who turns away from Our Reminder (this Qur'an) and desires nothing but the life of this world.
অতএব তুমি তাকে উপেক্ষা করো যে আমাদের স্মরণ থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয় এবং দুনিয়ার জীবন ছাড়া কিছু চায় না।
ফাআ'রিদ্ব 'আম্মান্ তাওয়াল্লা-আন্ যিক্রিনা-অলাম্ ইয়ুরিদ্ ইল্লাল্ হা ইয়া-তাদ্ দুন্ইয়া-।
That is what they could reach of knowledge. Verily, your Lord it is He Who knows best him who goes astray from His Path, and He knows best him who receives guidance.
এটাই তাদের জ্ঞানের সীমা। নিশ্চয়ই তোমার পালনকর্তাই ভালো জানেন কে তাঁর পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়েছে এবং তিনি ভালো জানেন কে সঠিক পথে রয়েছে।
যা-লিকা মাব্লাগুহুম্ মিনাল্ ই'ল্ম্ ইন্না রব্বাকা হুওয়া আ'লামু বিমান্ দ্বোয়াল্লা 'আন্ সাবীলিহী অহুওয়া আ'লামু বিমানিহ্ তাদা-।
And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done (i.e. punish them in Hell), and reward those who do good, with what is best (i.e. Paradise).
আর আল্লাহরই যা কিছু আকাশসমূহ ও পৃথিবীতে আছে। যারা মন্দ কাজ করেছে, তাদের সেই অনুযায়ী প্রতিদান দেন এবং যারা ভালো কাজ করেছে, তাদের উত্তম প্রতিদান দেন।
অলিল্লা-হি মা-ফিস্ সামা-ওয়া-তি অমা-ফিল্ র্আদ্বি লিয়াজযিইয়াল্ লাযীনা আসা-য়ূ বিমা-'আমিলূ অইয়াজযিইয়াল্লাযীনা আহ্সানূ বিল্হুস্না-।
Those who avoid great sins (See the Qur'an, Verses: 6:152,153) and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse) except the small faults, - verily, your Lord is of Vast Forgiveness. He knows you well when He created you from the earth (Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers' wombs. So ascribe not purity to yourselves. He knows best him who fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him [i.e. those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious. See V.2:2)].
যারা বড় বড় পাপ ও অশ্লীল কাজ থেকে বিরত থাকে, ছোটখাটো ত্রুটি ছাড়া; নিশ্চয়ই তোমার পালনকর্তার ক্ষমা অপরিসীম। তিনি তোমাদের সম্পর্কে ভালো জানেন, যখন তিনি তোমাদের মাটি থেকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং যখন তোমরা তোমাদের মায়েদের গর্ভে ভ্রূণ ছিলে। অতএব নিজেদের পবিত্র দাবি করো না। কে তাকওয়া অবলম্বন করেছে, তিনি তা ভালো জানেন।

আল্লাযীনা ইয়াজতানিবূনা কাবা-য়িরল্ ইছ্মি অল্ ফাওয়া-হিশা ইল্লাল্ লামাম্ ইন্না রব্বাকা ওয়া-সিউ'ল্ মাগ্ফিরাহ্ হুওয়া আ'লামু বিকুম্ ইয্ আন্শায়াকুম্ মিনাল্ র্আদ্বি অইয্ আন্তুম্ আজ্বিন্নাতুন্ ফী বুতুনি উম্মাহা- তিকুম্ ফালা-তুযাক্কূ য় আন্ফুসাকুম্ হুওয়া 'আলামু বিমা নিত্তাক্ব-।
Did you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) observe him who turned away (from Islam).
তুমি কি তাকে দেখেছো, যে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিয়েছে?
আফারয়াইতাল্ লাযী তাওয়াল্লা-।
And gave a little, then stopped (giving)?
আর সামান্য দান করেছে এবং বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে?
অআ'ত্বোয়া-ক্বালীলাঁও অআক্দা-।
Is with him the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees?
তার কাছে কি অদৃশ্যের জ্ঞান আছে, ফলে সে দেখতে পায়?
আ'ইন্দাহূ 'ইল্মুল্ গইবি ফাহুওয়া ইয়ার-।
Or is he not with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses),
তাকে কি জানানো হয়নি যা মূসার পত্রসমূহে রয়েছে?
আম্ লাম্ ইয়ুনাব্বা বিমা-ফী ছুহুফি মূসা-।
And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (Allah ordered him to do or convey):
এবং ইবরাহীম, যে তার দায়িত্ব পূর্ণ করেছিল?
অ ইব্র-হীমাল্ লাযী অফ্ফা য় ।
That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another.
কোনো বহনকারী অন্যের বোঝা বহন করবে না।
আল্লা-তাযিরু ওয়া- যিরাতুঁও ওয়িয্রা উখ্রা-।
And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad).
আর মানুষের জন্য নেই এছাড়া, যার জন্য সে চেষ্টা করেছে।
Another easy translation could be "আর মানুষের জন্য তা-ই রয়েছে, যার জন্য সে চেষ্টা করেছে।"
অআল্লাইসা লিল্ইন্সা-নি ইল্লা-মাসা'আ-।
And that his deeds will be seen.
আর নিশ্চয়ই তার চেষ্টা শীঘ্রই দেখা হবে।
অআন্না সা'ইয়াহূ সাওফা ইয়ুরা-।
Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense.
অতঃপর তাকে তার পূর্ণ প্রতিদান দেওয়া হবে।
ছুম্মা ইয়ুজযা-হুল্ জ্বাযা-য়াল্ আওফা-।
And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything).
আর নিশ্চয়ই তোমার পালনকর্তার কাছেই শেষ গন্তব্য।
অআন্না ইলা-রব্বিকাল্ মুন্তাহা-।
And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep.
আর নিশ্চয়ই তিনিই হাসান এবং কাঁদান।
অআন্নাহূ হুওয়া আদ্ব্হাকা অআব্ক-।
And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life.
আর নিশ্চয়ই তিনিই মৃত্যু দেন এবং জীবন দেন।
অআন্নাহূ হুওয়া আমা-তা অ আহ্ইয়া-।
And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female,
আর নিশ্চয়ই তিনিই সৃষ্টি করেছেন জোড়া, পুরুষ ও নারীকে।
অ আন্নাহূ খলাক্বায্ যাওজ্বাইনিয্ যাকারা অল্উন্ছা-
From Nutfah (drops of semen - male and female discharges) when it is emitted.
এক ফোঁটা বীর্য থেকে, যখন তা নিক্ষিপ্ত হয়।
মিন্ নুত্ব ফাতিন্ ইযা-তুম্না-।
And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection).
আর নিশ্চয়ই তাঁরই দায়িত্ব পুনরায় সৃষ্টি করা।
অআন্না 'আলাইহিন্ নাশ্য়াতাল্ উখ্র-।
And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (of wealth and contentment)
আর নিশ্চয়ই তিনিই অভাবমুক্ত করেন এবং সম্পদ দান করেন।
অআন্নাহূ হুওয়া আগ্না-অআক্ব না-।
And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship).
আর নিশ্চয়ই তিনিই শি‘রার পালনকর্তা।
অআন্নাহূ হুওয়া রব্বুশ্ শি'রা-।
And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people),
আর নিশ্চয়ই তিনিই প্রথম ‘আদকে ধ্বংস করেছিলেন।
অআন্নাহূ য় আহ্লাকা 'আ-দা-নিল্ ঊলা-।
And Thamud (people): He spared none of them.
আর সামূদকেও, অতঃপর অবশিষ্ট রাখেননি।
সামূদ = একটি জাতি, গোষ্ঠী, সম্প্রদায় // ধ্বংসের পর তাদের একজনও অবশিষ্ট ছিলো না
অছামূদা ফামা য় আব্ক্বা-।
And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime. Verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah) عليه السلام].
আর এর আগে নূহের জাতিকে। নিশ্চয়ই তারা ছিল আরও অত্যাচারী ও আরও অবাধ্য।
অক্বওমা নূহিম্ মিন্ ক্বব্ল্ ইন্নাহুম্ কা-নূ হুম্ আজ্লামা অআত্ব গ-।
And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lut (Lot) was sent].
আর জনপদগুলোকে উল্টে দিয়েছিলেন।
অল্ মুতাফিকাতা আহ্ওয়া-।
So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones).
অতঃপর সেগুলোকে ঢেকে দেওয়া হলো, যা ঢেকে দিয়েছিল।
ফাগাশ্শা-হা-মা-গাশ্শা-।
Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt?
অতএব তোমার পালনকর্তার কোন কোন অনুগ্রহ সম্পর্কে তুমি সন্দেহ করবে?
ফাবিআইয়্যি আ-লা-য়ি রব্বিকা তাতামা-রা-।
This (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old.
এ তো আগের সতর্ককারীদের মতোই একজন সতর্ককারী।
হা-যা-নাযীরুম্ মিনান্ নুযুরিল্ ঊলা-।
The Day of Resurrection draws near.
আসন্ন বিষয়টি নিকটবর্তী।
আযিফাতিল্ আ-যিফাহ্।
None besides Allah can avert it (or advance it or delay it).
ছাড়া কেউ তা প্রকাশ করতে পারে না।
লাইসা লাহা-মিন্ দূনিল্লা-হি কা-শিফাহ্
Do you then wonder at this recitation (the Qur'an)?
তবে কি তোমরা এই বাণীতে অবাক হচ্ছো?
আফা মিন্ হা-যাল্ হাদীছি তা'জ্বাবূনা।
And you laugh at it and weep not,
আর তোমরা হাসছো, এবং কাঁদছো না!
অতাদ্ব্হাকূনা অলা তাব্কূনা।
Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.).
আর তোমরা উদাসীন রয়েছো!
অআন্তুম্ সা-মিদূন্।
So fall you down in prostration to Allah and worship Him (Alone).
অতএব আল্লাহকে সিজদা করো এবং ইবাদত করো।
ফাস্জুদূ লিল্লা-হি ওয়া'বূদূ-
