Chapter 80, 42 verses
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,
To him you attend;
To him dost thou attend;
so widmest du dich ihm,
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
But as to him who came to you running,
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).
And with fear (in his heart),
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
Of him wast thou unmindful.
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
In the hands of scribes (angels).
(Written) by the hands of scribes -
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
Honourable and obedient.
Honourable and Pious and Just.
edlen, frommen.
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
From what thing did He create him?
From what stuff hath He created him?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.
From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
Then He makes the Path easy for him.
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
Keineswegs!
Then let man look at his food:
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
We pour forth water in abundance.
For that We pour forth water in abundance,
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
And We split the earth in clefts.
And We split the earth in fragments,
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
And produce therein corn,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
And Grapes and nutritious plants,
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And olives and date-palms,
And Olives and Dates,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And gardens dense with many trees,
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And fruits and herbage
And fruits and fodder, -
und Früchte und Futter,
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
And from his mother and his father,
And from his mother and his father,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And from his wife and his children.
And from his wife and his children.
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
Some faces that Day will be beaming,
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
Laughing, rejoicing.
lachen und sich freuen.
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.
And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,
Darkness will cover them.
Blackness will cover them:
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
