Hilali & Muhsin Khan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. When the heaven is cleft asunder.
Yusuf Ali
When the Sky is cleft asunder;
সমকালীন বাংলা
আল্লাহর নামে শুরু করছি, পরম করুণাময় পরম দয়ালু; যখন আকাশ বিদীর্ণ হবে,

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انفَطَرَتْ
Word by word
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And when the stars have fallen and scattered.
Yusuf Ali
When the Stars are scattered;
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং যখন নক্ষত্রগুলো ছিটকে পড়বে,

وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انتَثَرَتْ
Word by word
وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And when the seas are burst forth.
Yusuf Ali
When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং যখন সমুদ্রসমূহ উত্তাল করে দেওয়া হবে,

وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ
Word by word
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ

And when the graves are turned upside down (and bring out their contents)
Yusuf Ali
And when the Graves are turned upside down; -
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং যখন কবরসমূহ উন্মোচিত করা হবে,

وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
Word by word
وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
Yusuf Ali
(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.
সমকালীন বাংলা
তখন প্রত্যেক প্রাণ জানতে পারবে, সে কী আগে পাঠিয়েছে এবং কী পিছনে রেখে এসেছে,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ

O man! What has made you careless about your Lord, the Most Generous?
Yusuf Ali
O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent? -
সমকালীন বাংলা
হে মানুষ! কী তোমাকে তোমার মহানুভব প্রতিপালক সম্পর্কে বিভ্রান্ত করেছে?

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ
Word by word
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion.
Yusuf Ali
Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;
সমকালীন বাংলা
যিনি তোমাকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, অতঃপর সুবিন্যস্ত করেছেন এবং সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ করেছেন,

الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Word by word
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
Yusuf Ali
In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.
সমকালীন বাংলা
তিনি তোমাকে যে আকৃতিতে ইচ্ছা, তাতেই গঠন করেছেন,

فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ
Word by word
فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Nay! But you deny Ad-Din (i.e. the Day of Recompense).
Yusuf Ali
Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment!
সমকালীন বাংলা
কখনোই নয়! বরং তোমরা প্রতিদান দিবসকে মিথ্যা বলো,

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ

But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you,

But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you, -
সমকালীন বাংলা
আর নিশ্চয়ই তোমাদের ওপর তত্ত্বাবধায়ক রয়েছে,

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَٰفِظِينَ

Kiraman (Honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds),

Kind and honourable, - Writing down (your deeds):
সমকালীন বাংলা
সম্মানিত লিপিকারগণ,

كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ
Word by word
كِرَامًا كَٰتِبِينَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
They know all that you do.
Yusuf Ali
They know (and understand) all that ye do.
সমকালীন বাংলা
তারা জানে তোমরা যা করো,

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Verily, the Abrar (the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism) will be in Delight (Paradise);
Yusuf Ali
As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss;
সমকালীন বাংলা
নিশ্চয়ই সৎকর্মপরায়ণরা থাকবে পরম সুখে,

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell),

And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire,
সমকালীন বাংলা
আর নিশ্চয়ই পাপাচারীরা থাকবে জাহিমে,

وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Therein they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense,
Yusuf Ali
Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment,
সমকালীন বাংলা
তারা তাতে প্রবেশ করবে প্রতিদান দিবসে,

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ

And they (Al-Fujjar) will not be absent therefrom.

And they will not be able to keep away therefrom.
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং তারা তা থেকে অনুপস্থিত থাকবে না,

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ

And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?

And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

এবং কী তোমাকে জানাবে প্রতিদান দিবস কী?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ

Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?

Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

অতঃপর কী তোমাকে জানাবে প্রতিদান দিবস কী?

ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
Yusuf Ali
(It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
সমকালীন বাংলা
সেদিন কোনো প্রাণ অন্য কোনো প্রাণের জন্য কিছুই করতে সক্ষম হবে না; এবং সেদিন সকল কর্তৃত্ব আল্লাহর।

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ
