Chapter 36, 83 verses
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ يس
ইয়া সীন!
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ya-Sin. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ
জ্ঞানগর্ভ কুরআনের শপথ, - -
By the Qur'an, full of wisdom (i.e. full of laws, evidence, and proofs),
إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
নিঃসন্দেহ তুমি তো প্রেরিত পুরুষদের অন্যতম, - -
Truly, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are one of the Messengers,
عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
সহজ - সঠিক পথে অধিষ্ঠিত রয়েছে।
On the Straight Path (i.e. on Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism).
تَنزِيلَ الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ
মহাশক্তিশালী, অফুরন্ত ফলদাতার থেকে এক অবতারণ, - -
(This is a Revelation) sent down by the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful,
لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أُنذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ
যেন তুমি সতর্ক করতে পার সেই জাতিকে যাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের সতর্ক করা হয় নি, যার ফলে তারা অজ্ঞ রয়ে গেছে।
In order that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are heedless.
لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
সুনিশ্চিত যে বক্তব্যটি তাদের অনেকের সন্বন্ধে সত্য প্রতিপন্ন হয়েছে, তাই তারা বিশ্বাস করছে না।
Indeed the Word (of punishment) has proved true against most of them, so they will not believe.
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ
আমরা নিশ্চয় তাদের গলায় বেড়ি পরিয়ে দিয়েছি, আর তা পৌঁছেছে চিবুক পর্যন্ত, ফলে তারা মাথা চড়ানো অবস্থায় রয়েছে।
Verily We have put on their necks iron collars reaching to the chins, so that their heads are raised up.
وَجَعَلْنَا مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
আর আমরা তাদের সামনে স্থাপন করেছি এক বেড়া আর তাদের পেছনেও এক বেড়া, ফলে আমরা তাদের ঢেকে ফেলেছি, সুতরাং তারা দেখতে পায় না।
And We have put a barrier before them, and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them up, so that they cannot see.
وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
এটি তাদের কাছে একাকার - - তুমি তাদের সতর্ক কর অথবা তুমি তাদের সতর্ক নাই কর, তারা বিশ্বাস করবে না।
It is the same to them whether you warn them or you warn them not, they will not believe.
إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ
নিঃসন্দেহ তুমি তো সতর্ক করতে পার তাকে যে উপদেশ অনুসরণ করে চলে, আর পরম করুণাময়কে নিভৃতে ভয় করে। সুতরাং তাকে তুমি সুসংবাদ দাও পরিত্রাণের এবং এক মহান প্রতিদানের।
You can only warn him who follows the Reminder (the Qur'an), and fears the Most Gracious (Allah) unseen. Bear you to such one the glad tidings of forgiveness, and a generous reward (i.e. Paradise).
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা - - আমরা নিজেরাই মৃতকে জীবন্ত করি, আর আমরা লিখে রাখি যা তারা আগবাড়ায় আর তাদের পদচিহ্নসমূহ। আর সমস্ত ব্যাপার - স্যাপার - - আমরা তা সংরক্ষিত রেখেছি এক সুস্পষ্ট গ্রন্থে।
Verily, We give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before (them), and their traces and all things We have recorded with numbers (as a record) in a Clear Book.
وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
আর তাদের জন্য উপমা ছোঁড়ো এক জনপদের অধিবাসীদের - - যখন সেখানে রসূলগণ এসেছিলেন।
And put forward to them a similitude: the (story of the) dwellers of the town, [it is said that the town was Antioch (Antakiya)], when there came Messengers to them.
إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ
দেখো! আমরা তাদের কাছে দুজনকে পাঠিয়েছিলাম, কিন্তু তারা এদের দুজনেরই প্রতি মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল, তখন আমরা তৃতীয় জনকে দিয়ে শক্তিবৃদ্ধি করি। সুতরাং তাঁরা বলেছিলেন - - ''নিঃসন্দেহ তোমাদের কাছে আমরা প্রেরিত হয়েছি।’’
When We sent to them two Messengers, they belied them both; so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: "Verily we have been sent to you as Messengers."
قَالُوا مَا أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنزَلَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مِن شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ
তারা বলেছিল - - ''তোমরা তো আমাদের ন্যায় মানুষ ছাড়া আর কিছু নও, আর পরম করুণাময় কোনো কিছুই অবতারণ করেন নি, তোমরা তো কেবল মিথ্যা কথা বলছ।’’
They (people of the town) said: "You are only human beings like ourselves, and the Most Gracious (Allah) has revealed nothing. You are only telling lies."
قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ
তাঁরা বলেছিলেন - - ''আমাদের প্রভু জানেন যে আমরা নিশ্চয়ই তোমাদের কাছে প্রেরিতপুরুষই বটে।
The Messengers said: "Our Lord knows that we have been sent as Messengers to you,
وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ
''আর আমাদের উপরে হচ্ছে স্পষ্টভাবে পৌঁছে দেওয়া ছাড়া অন্য কিছু নয়।’’
"And our duty is only to convey plainly (the Message)."
قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
তারা বললে, ''তোমাদের থেকে আমরা অবশ্যই অমঙ্গল আশঙ্কা করি, যদি তোমরা বিরত না হও তবে আমরা অবশ্যই তোমাদের পাথর মেরে মেরে ফেলব, আর আমাদের থেকে মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি তোমাদের স্পর্শ করবে।’’
They (people) said: "For us, we see an evil omen from you: if you cease not, we will surely stone you, and a painful torment will touch you from us."
قَالُوا طَائِرُكُم مَّعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِن ذُكِّرْتُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ
তাঁরা বললেন, ''তোমাদের পাখিগুলো তোমাদের সঙ্গেই রয়েছে। তোমাদের তো স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়া হয়েছে! বস্তুতঃ তোমরা হচ্ছ অমিতাচারী জাতি।
They (Messengers) said: "Your evil omens be with you! (Do you call it "evil omen") because you are admonished? Nay, but you are a people Musrifun (transgressing all bounds by committing all kinds of great sins, and by disobeying Allah).
وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ
আর শহরের দূর প্রান্ত থেকে একজন লোক দেড়ে এল, সে বললে - - ''হে আমার স্বজাতি! প্রেরিতপুরুষগণকে অনুসরণ করো, - -
And there came a man running from the farthest part of the town. He said: "O my people! Obey the Messengers.
اتَّبِعُوا مَن لَّا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ
''অনুসরণ করো তাঁদের যারা তোমাদের কাছ থেকে কোনো পারিশ্রমিকের সওয়াল করেন না, আর তাঁরা হচ্ছেন সৎপথে চালিত।’’
"Obey those who ask no wages of you (for themselves), and who are rightly guided.
وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
''আর আমার কি হয়েছে যে আমি তাঁর উপাসনা করব না, যিনি আমাকে সৃজন করেছেন, আর তাঁরই কাছে তোমাদের ফিরিয়ে নেয়া হবে?
"And why should I not worship Him (Allah Alone) Who has created me and to Whom you shall be returned.
أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ
''আমি কি তাঁকে বাদ দিয়ে অন্য উপাস্যদের গ্রহণ করব, পরম করুণাময় যদি আমাকে দুঃখ - দুর্দশা দিতে চাইতেন তবে তাদের সুপারিশ আমার কোনো কাজে আসবে না, আর তারা আমাকে উদ্ধার করতেও পারবে না?
"Shall I take besides Him alihah (gods)? If the Most Gracious (Allah) intends me any harm, their intercession will be of no use for me whatsoever, nor can they save me?
إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ
''এমন ক্ষেত্রে আমি তো নিশ্চয় স্পষ্ট ভুলের মধ্যে পড়ব।
"Then verily, I should be in plain error.
إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ
''আমি আলবৎ তোমাদের প্রভুর প্রতি ঈমান এনেছি, সেজন্য আমার কথা শোনো।’’
"Verily! I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me!"
قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ
বলা হলো - - ''জান্নাতে প্রবেশ কর।’’ তিনি বললেন - - ''হায় আফসোস! আমার স্বজাতি যদি জানতে পারত, - -
It was said (to him when the disbelievers killed him): "Enter Paradise." He said: "Would that my people knew
بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ
''কি কারণে আমার প্রভু আমাকে পরিত্রাণ করেছেন, আর আমাকে সম্মানিতদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত করেছেন।’’
"That my Lord (Allah) has forgiven me, and made me of the honoured ones!"
۞ وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِن بَعْدِهِ مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ
আর তাঁর পরে তাঁর লোকদের প্রতি আমরা আকাশ থেকে কোনো বাহিনী পাঠাই নি, আর আমরা কখনো প্রেরণকারী নই।
And We sent not against his people after him a host from the heaven, nor was it needful for Us to send (such a thing).
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ
এটি অবশ্য একটিমাত্র মহাগর্জন বৈ তো নয়, তখন দেখো, তারা নিথরদেহী হয়ে গেল!
It was but one Saihah (shout) and lo! they (all) were still (silent,dead,destroyed).
يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
হায় আফসোস বান্দাদের জন্য! তাদের কাছে এমন কোনো রসূল আসেন নি যাঁকে নিয়ে তারা ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রূপ না করেছে!
Alas for mankind! There never came a Messenger to them but they used to mock at him.
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
তারা কি দেখে নি তাদের পূর্বে কত মানবগোষ্ঠীকে আমরা ধ্বংস করেছি, কেননা তারা তাঁদের প্রতি ফিরতো না?
Do they not see how many of the generations We have destroyed before them? Verily, they will not return to them.
وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
আর নিশ্চয়ই সবাইকে, - - আলবৎ সব ক’জনকে, আমাদের সামনে হাজির করা হবে।
And surely, all - everyone of them will be brought before Us.
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ
আর তাদের জন্য একটি নিদর্শন হচ্ছে মৃত ভূখন্ড, আমরা তাতে প্রাণ সঞ্চার করি, আর তা থেকে উৎপন্ন করি শস্য, ফলে সেটি থেকে তারা আহার করে।
And a sign for them is the dead land. We give it life, and We bring forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof.
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِ
আর আমরা তাতে বানিয়েছি খেজুর ও আঙুরের বাগানসমূহ, আর তার মাঝে আমরা উৎসারিত করি প্রস্রবণ,
And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.
لِيَأْكُلُوا مِن ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
যেন তারা এর ফলমূল থেকে আহার করতে পারে, অথচ তাদের হাতে এটি বানায় নি। তবু কি তারা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করবে না?
So that they may eat of the fruit thereof - and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks?
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
সকল মহিমা তাঁর যিনি জোড়ায় - জোড়ায় সৃষ্টি করেছেন - - পৃথিবী যা উৎপাদন করে তার মধ্যের সব - কিছু, আর তাদের নিজেদের মধ্যেও, আর তারা যার কথা জানে না তাদের মধ্যেও।
Glory be to Him Who has created all the pairs of that which the earth produces, as well as of their own (human) kind (male and female), and of that which they know not.
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ
আর তাদের কাছে একটি নিদর্শন হচ্ছে রাত্রি, তা থেকে আমরা বের করে আনি দিনকে, তারপর দেখো! তারা অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন হয়ে থাকে!
And a sign for them is the night. We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness.
وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ
আর সূর্য তার গন্তব্য পথে বিচরণ করে। এটিই মহাশক্তিশালী সর্বজ্ঞাতার নির্ধারিত বিধান।
And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.
وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ
আর চন্দ্রের বেলা - - আমরা এর জন্য বিধান করেছি বিভিন্ন অবস্থান, শেষপর্যন্ত তা শুকনো পুরোনো খেজুরবৃন্তের ন্যায় হয়ে যায়।
And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk.
لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنبَغِي لَهَا أَن تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
সূর্যের নিজের সাধ্য নেই চন্দ্রকে ধরার, আর রাতেরও নেই দিনকে অতিক্রম করার। আর সবক’টিই কক্ষপথে ভাসছে।
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit.
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
আর তাদের জন্য একটি নিদর্শন হচ্ছে এই যে আমরা তাদের সন্তান - সন্ততিকে বহন করি বোঝাই করা জাহাজে, - -
And an Ayah (sign) for them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship [of Nuh (Noah)].
وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ
আর তাদের জন্য আমরা বানিয়েছি এগুলোর অনুরূপ অন্যান্য যা তারা চড়বে।
And We have created for them of the like thereunto, on which they ride.
وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ
আর আমরা যদি ইচ্ছা করি তবে তাদের ডুবিয়েও দিতে পারি, তখন তাদের জন্য কোনো সাহায্যকারী থাকবে না, আর তাদের উদ্ধার করাও হবে না, - -
And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help), nor will they be saved.
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَمَتَاعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
আমাদের থেকে করুণা ব্যতীত, আর কিছুকালের জন্য জীবনোপভোগকরণ মাত্র।
Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
আর যখন তাদের বলা হয় - - ''ভয় করো যা তোমাদের সামনে রয়েছে আর যা তোমাদের পেছনে রয়েছে, যেন তোমাদের প্রতি করুণা করা হয়।’’
And when it is said to them: "Fear of that which is before you (worldly torments), and that which is behind you (torments in the Hereafter), in order that you may receive Mercy (i.e. if you believe in Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism, and avoid polytheism, and obey Allah with righteous deeds)."
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ مِّنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
আর তাদের প্রভুর বাণীসমূহের মধ্যে থেকে এমন কোনো বাণী তাদের কাছে আসে নি যা থেকে তারা বরাবর ফিরে না গেছে।
And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ
আর যখন তাদের বলা হয় - - '' তোমাদের যা রিযেক দিয়েছেন তা থেকে খরচ করো।’’ তখন যারা অবিশ্বাস পোষণ করে তারা বলে তাদের যারা বিশ্বাস করেছে - - ''আমরা কি তাদের খাওয়াব যাদের, যদি চাইতেন তবে তিনিই খাওয়াতে পারতেন? তোমরা স্পষ্ট ভুলের মধ্যে ছাড়া আর কোথাও তো নও।’’
And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error."
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
আর তারা বলে - - ''সেই ওয়াদা কখন পূর্ণ হবে, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হও?’’
And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?"
مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ
তারা একটিমাত্র মহাগর্জন ছাড়া আর কিছুর অপেক্ষা করছে না, এটি তাদের আঘাত করবে যখন তারা কথা কাটাকাটি করছে।
They await only but a single Saihah (shout), which will seize them while they are disputing!
فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
তখন তারা ওসিয়ৎ করতেও সমর্থ হবে না, আর তারা তাদের পরিবারবর্গের কাছে ফিরতেও পারবে না।
Then they will not be able to make bequest, nor they will return to their family.
وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ
আর শিঙায় ফুৎকার দেওয়া হবে, তখন দেখো! তারা কবরগুলো থেকে তাদের প্রভুর দিকে ছুটে আসবে।
And the Trumpet will be blown (i.e. the second blowing) and behold from the graves they will come out quickly to their Lord.
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَن بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ
তারা বলবে - - ''হায় ধিক্ আমাদের! কে আমাদের উঠিয়ে দিলে আমাদের ঘুমানোর স্থান থেকে? এটিই হচ্ছে যা পরম করুণাময় ওয়াদা করেছিলেন, আর রসূলগণ সত্য কথাই বলেছিলেন।’’
They will say: "Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep." (It will be said to them): "This is what the Most Gracious (Allah) had promised, and the Messengers spoke truth!"
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
সেটি একটিমাত্র মহাগর্জন বৈ তো নয়, তখন দেখো! তাদের সমবেতভাবে আমাদের সামনে হাজির করা হবে।
It will be but a single Saihah (shout), so behold they will all be brought up before Us!
فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
সুতরাং সেইদিন কোনো লোকের প্রতি কিছুমাত্রও অবিচার করা হবে না, আর তোমরাও যা করে থাকতে তা ছাড়া তোমাদের অন্য প্রতিদান দেওয়া হবে না।
This Day (Day of Resurrection), none will be wronged in anything, nor will you be requited anything except that which you used to do.
إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَ
নিঃসন্দেহ জান্নাতের বাসিন্দারা সেইদিন আনন্দের মাঝে কালাতিপাত করবে।
Verily, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy with joyful things.
هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلَالٍ عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِئُونَ
তারা ও তাদের সঙ্গিনীরা স্নিগ্ধ ছায়ায় উঁচু আসনের উপরে হেলান দিয়ে বসবে।
They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones.
لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ
তাদের জন্য সেখানে থাকবে ফলফসল, আর তাদের জন্য রইবে যা তারা কামনা করে।
They will have therein fruits (of all kinds) and all that they ask for.
سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِّن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ
অফুরন্ত ফলদাতা প্রভুর তরফ থেকে সম্ভাষণ হচ্ছে - - ''সালাম’’।
(It will be said to them): Salam (peace be on you) - a Word from the Lord (Allah), Most Merciful.
وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ
আর ''আজ বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যাও, হে অপরাধিগণ!
(It will be said): "And O you Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Islamic Monotheism, wicked evil ones)! Get you apart this Day (from the believers).
۞ أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَا بَنِي آدَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
''হে আদম - সন্তানগণ! আমি কি তোমাদের নির্দেশ দিই নি যে তোমরা শয়তানের আরাধনা করবে না, নিঃসন্দেহ সে তোমাদের জন্য প্রকাশ্য শত্রু, - -
Did I not command you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you.
وَأَنِ اعْبُدُونِي ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
''বরং তোমরা আমারই উপাসনা করো? এটিই তো শুদ্ধ - সঠিক পথ।
And that you should worship Me [Alone - Islamic Monotheism, and set up not rivals, associate-gods with Me]. That is the Straight Path.
وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ
''আর তোমাদের মধ্যের অনেক বড়বড় দলকে সে বিভ্রান্ত করেই ফেলেছে। তবুও কি তোমরা বুঝেসুঝে চলবে না?
And indeed he (Satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand?
هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
''এটিই হচ্ছে জাহান্নাম যে - সন্বন্ধে তোমাদের ওয়াদা করা হয়েছিল।
This is Hell which you were promised!
اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
''এতে তোমরা প্রবেশ করো আজকের দিনে যেহেতু তোমরা অবিশ্বাস করেছিলে।’’
Burn therein this Day, for that you used to disbelieve.
الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
সেইদিন আমরা তাদের মুখের উপর মোহর মেরে দেব, বরং তাদের হাত আমাদের সাথে কথা বলবে, আর তাদের পা সাক্ষ্য দেবে যা তারা অর্জন করত সে - সন্বন্ধে।
This Day, We shall seal up their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their legs will bear witness to what they used to earn. (It is said that one's left thigh will be the first to bear the witness). [Tafsir At-Tabari,]
وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ
আর আমরা যদি চাইতাম তবে আমরা তাদের চোখের উপরে দৃষ্টিহীনতা এনে দিতাম, তখন তারা পথের দিকে ধাওয়া করত, কিন্তু কেমন করে তারা দেখতে পাবে?
And if it had been Our Will, We would surely have wiped out (blinded) their eyes, so that they would struggle for the Path, how then would they see?
وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ
আর আমরা যদি চাইতাম তবে আমরা তাদের বাড়িগুলোতেই তাদের নিশ্চল - নিস্তব্ধ করে দিতাম, তখন তারা এগিয়ে যেতে সক্ষম হবে না, ফিরে আসতেও পারবে না।
And if it had been Our Will, We could have transformed them (into animals or lifeless objects) in their places. Then they would have been unable to go forward (move about) nor they could have turned back.
وَمَن نُّعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ
আর যাকে আমরা দীর্ঘ জীবন দান করি তাকে তো আমরা সৃষ্টিতে ঘুরিয়ে দিই। তবুও কি তারা বুঝে না।
And he whom We grant long life - We reverse him in creation (weakness after strength). Will they not then understand?
وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُّبِينٌ
আর আমরা তাঁকে কবিত্ব শেখাই নি, আর তা তাঁর পক্ষে সমীচীনও নয়। এটি স্মারক গ্রন্থ ও সুস্পষ্ট কুরআন বৈ তো নয়, - -
And We have not taught him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) poetry, nor is it suitable for him. This is only a Reminder and a plain Qur'an.
لِّيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ
যেন তিনি সাবধান করতে পারেন তাকে যে জীবন্ত রয়েছে, আর অবিশ্বাসীদের বিরুদ্ধে রায় ন্যায়সঙ্গত হয়েছে।
That he or it (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم or the Qur'an) may give warning to him who is living (a healthy minded - the believer), and that Word (charge) may be justified against the disbelievers (dead, as they reject the warnings).
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَا أَنْعَامًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ
তারা কি লক্ষ্য করে নি যে আমরাই তো তাদের জন্য সৃষ্টি করেছি আমাদের হাত যা বানিয়েছে তা থেকে গবাদি - পশুগুলো, তারপর তারাই এগুলোর মালিক হয়ে যায়?
Do they not see that We have created for them of what Our Hands have created the cattle, so that they are their owners.
وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ
আর এগুলোকে আমরা তাদের বশীভূত করে দিয়েছি, ফলে এদের মধ্যের কিছু তাদের বাহন আর এদের কিছু তারা খায়।
And We have subdued them unto them so that some of them they have for riding and some they eat.
وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
আর তাদের জন্য এগুলোতে রয়েছে উপকারিতা, আর পানীয় বস্তু। তবুও কি তারা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করবে না?
And they have (other) benefits from them, and they get (milk) to drink. Will they not then be grateful?
وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
আর তারা কে বাদ দিয়ে উপাস্যদের গ্রহণ করেছে যাতে তাদের সাহায্য করা হয়।
And they have taken besides Allah alihah (gods), hoping that they might be helped (by those so-called gods).
لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُّحْضَرُونَ
ওরা কোনো ক্ষমতা রাখে না তাদের সাহায্য করার, বরং তারা হবে এদের জন্য এক বাহিনী যাদের হাজির করা হবে।
They cannot help them, but they will be brought forward as a troop against those who worshipped them (at the time of Reckoning).
فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ
সুতরাং তাদের কথাবার্তা তোমাকে যেন কষ্ট না দেয়। আমরা নিশ্চয়ই জানি যা তারা লুকিয়ে রাখে আর যা তারা প্রকাশ করে।
So let not their speech, then, grieve you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Verily, We know what they conceal and what they reveal.
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْإِنسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ
আচ্ছা, মানুষ কি দেখে না যে আমারা তাকে নিশ্চয়ই এক শুক্রকীট থেকে সৃষ্টি করেছি? তারপর, কি আশ্চর্য! সে একজন প্রকাশ্য বিতর্ককারী হয়ে যায়।
Does not man see that We have created him from Nutfah (mixed male and female sexual discharge - semen drops). Yet behold he (stands forth) as an open opponent.
وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ
আর সে আমাদের সদৃশ বানায়, আর ভুলে যায় তার নিজের সৃষ্টির কথা। সে বলে - - ''হাড় - গোড়ের মধ্যে কে প্রাণ দেবে যখন তা গলে - পচে যাবে?’’
And he puts forth for Us a parable, and forgets his own creation. He says: "Who will give life to these bones after they are rotten and have become dust?"
قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ
তুমি বলো - - ''তিনিই তাতে প্রাণ সঞ্চার করবেন যিনি প্রথমবারে তাদের সৃজন করেছিলেন। আর তিনি প্রত্যেকটি সৃষ্টি সন্বন্ধে সর্বজ্ঞাতা, - -
Say: (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) "He will give life to them Who created them for the first time! And He is the All-Knower of every creation!"
الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الشَّجَرِ الْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَا أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ
যিনি তোমাদের জন্য সবুজ গাছ থেকে আগুন তৈরি করেন, তারপর দেখো! তোমরা তা দিয়ে আগুন জ্বালো।
He Who produces for you fire out of the green tree, when behold you kindle therewith.
أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ
আচ্ছা, যিনি মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছেন তিনি কি তাদের অনুরূপ সৃষ্টি করতে সক্ষম নন? হাঁ, বস্তুতঃ তিনিই তো মহাস্রষ্টা, সর্বজ্ঞাতা।
Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth, Able to create the like of them? Yes, indeed! He is the All-Knowing Supreme Creator.
إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ
যখন তিনি কোনো - কিছু ইচ্ছা করেন তখন তাঁর নির্দেশ হল যে তিনি সে - সন্বন্ধে শুধু বলেন - - ''হও’’, আর তা হয়ে যায়।
Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" - and it is!
فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
সুতরাং সকল মহিমা তাঁরই যাঁর হাতে রয়েছে সমস্ত কিছুর শাসনভার, আর তাঁরই নিকট তোমাদের ফিরিয়ে আনা হবে।
So glorified be He and exalted above all that they associate with Him, and in Whose Hands is the dominion of all things: and to Him you shall be returned.
