The Prophet frowned and turned away
Chapter 80, 42 verses
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
The Prophet frowned and turned away
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
As for he who thinks himself without need,
so widmest du dich ihm,
To him you attend;
To him you give attention.
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
But as to him who came to you running,
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).
While he fears [Allah],
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
From him you are distracted.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
So whoever wills may remember it.
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
Exalted and purified,
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
In the hands of scribes (angels).
[Carried] by the hands of messenger - angels,
edlen, frommen.
Honourable and obedient.
Noble and dutiful.
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From what thing did He create him?
From what substance did He create him?
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.
From a sperm - drop He created him and destined for him;
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He makes the Path easy for him.
Then He eased the way for him;
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
Keineswegs!
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
Then let man look at his food:
Then let mankind look at his food -
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
We pour forth water in abundance.
How We poured down water in torrents,
And We split the earth in clefts.
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
And caused to grow within it grain
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
And grapes and herbage
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And olives and date-palms,
And olive and palm trees
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And gardens dense with many trees,
And gardens of dense shrubbery
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruits and herbage
And fruit and grass -
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And from his mother and his father,
And his mother and his father
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And from his wife and his children.
And his wife and his children,
Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.
Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Darkness will cover them.
Blackness will cover them.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
