Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
The Prophet frowned and turned away
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
Chapter 80, 42 verses
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
The Prophet frowned and turned away
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
As for he who thinks himself without need,
As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,
so widmest du dich ihm,
To him you give attention.
To him dost thou attend;
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
While he fears [Allah],
And with fear (in his heart),
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
From him you are distracted.
Of him wast thou unmindful.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
So whoever wills may remember it.
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted and purified,
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
[Carried] by the hands of messenger - angels,
(Written) by the hands of scribes -
edlen, frommen.
Noble and dutiful.
Honourable and Pious and Just.
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From what substance did He create him?
From what stuff hath He created him?
From a sperm - drop He created him and destined for him;
From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He eased the way for him;
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
Keineswegs!
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
Then let mankind look at his food -
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
How We poured down water in torrents,
For that We pour forth water in abundance,
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
And We split the earth in fragments,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And caused to grow within it grain
And produce therein corn,
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And grapes and herbage
And Grapes and nutritious plants,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And olive and palm trees
And Olives and Dates,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And gardens of dense shrubbery
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruit and grass -
And fruits and fodder, -
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And his mother and his father
And from his mother and his father,
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And his wife and his children,
And from his wife and his children.
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -
Some faces that Day will be beaming,
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.
Laughing, rejoicing.
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Blackness will cover them.
Blackness will cover them:
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
