Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Chapter 80, 42 verses
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
He frowned and turned (his) back,
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
Because there came to him the blind man.
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -
And what would make you know that he would purify himself,
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?
As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,
As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),
so widmest du dich ihm,
To him dost thou attend;
To him do you address yourself.
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
And as to him who comes to you striving hard,
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
And with fear (in his heart),
And he fears,
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
Of him wast thou unmindful.
From him will you divert yourself.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
Nay! surely it is an admonishment.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
So let him who pleases mind it.
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
In honored books,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
Exalted, purified,
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
(Written) by the hands of scribes -
In the hands of scribes
edlen, frommen.
Honourable and Pious and Just.
Noble, virtuous.
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From what stuff hath He created him?
Of what thing did He create him?
From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.
Keineswegs!
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
Then let man look to his food,
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
For that We pour forth water in abundance,
That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,
And We split the earth in fragments,
Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And produce therein corn,
Then We cause to grow therein the grain,
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And Grapes and nutritious plants,
And grapes and clover,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And Olives and Dates,
And the olive and the palm,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
And thick gardens,
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruits and fodder, -
And fruits and herbage
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
A provision for you and for your cattle.
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -
But when the deafening cry comes,
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And from his mother and his father,
And his mother and his father,
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And from his wife and his children.
And his spouse and his son - -
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.
Some faces that Day will be beaming,
(Many) faces on that day shall be bright,
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, rejoicing.
Laughing, joyous.
And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,
And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Blackness will cover them:
Darkness shall cover them.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.
