কসম আসমানের ও রাতে আগমনকারীর।

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. By the heaven and the Morning Star

শপথ আকাশের এবং রাত্রিতে আগমনকারীর।
Yusuf Ali
By the Sky and the Night - Visitant (therein); -
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
আর কিসে তোমাকে জানাবে রাতে আগমনকারী কী?

- Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is!

আপনি জানেন, যে রাত্রিতে আসে সেটা কি?

And what will explain to thee what the Night - Visitant is? -

উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র।

- The piercing Star!

সেটা এক উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র।

(It is) the Star of piercing brightness; -

প্রত্যেক জীবের উপরই সংরক্ষক রয়েছে।

No human soul but hath a guardian over it.

প্রত্যেকের উপর একজন তত্ত্বাবধায়ক রয়েছে।

There is no soul but has a protector over it.
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
অতএব মানুষের চিন্তা করে দেখা উচিৎ, তাকে কী থেকে সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে ?

So let man consider from what he is created.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
অতএব, মানুষের দেখা উচিত কি বস্তু থেকে সে সৃজিত হয়েছে।
Yusuf Ali
Now let man but think from what he is created!
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
তাকে সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে দ্রুতবেগে নির্গত পানি থেকে।

He is created from a gushing fluid
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
সে সৃজিত হয়েছে সবেগে স্খলিত পানি থেকে।

He is created from a drop emitted -
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
যা বের হয় মেরুদন্ড ও বুকের হাঁড়ের মধ্য থেকে।

That issued from between the loins and ribs.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
এটা নির্গত হয় মেরুদন্ড ও বক্ষপাজরের মধ্য থেকে।

Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
নিশ্চয় তিনি তাকে ফিরিয়ে আনতে সক্ষম।

Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life)

নিশ্চয় তিনি তাকে ফিরিয়ে নিতে সক্ষম।
Yusuf Ali
Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)!
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
যে দিন গোপন বিষয়াদি পরীক্ষা করা হবে।

On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যেদিন গোপন বিষয়াদি পরীক্ষিত হবে,

The Day that (all) things secret will be tested,
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
অতএব তার কোন শক্তি থাকবে না। আর সাহায্যকারীও না।

Then will he have no might nor any helper.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
সেদিন তার কোন শক্তি থাকবে না এবং সাহায্যকারীও থাকবে না।

(Man) will have no power, and no helper.

বৃষ্টিসম্পন্ন আসমানের কসম।

By the heaven which giveth the returning rain,

শপথ চক্রশীল আকাশের
Yusuf Ali
By the Firmament which returns (in its round),
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
কসম বিদীর্ণ যমীনের।
Pickthall
And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants)
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
এবং বিদারনশীল পৃথিবীর
Yusuf Ali
And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation), -
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
নিশ্চয় এটা ফয়সালাকারী বাণী।

Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word,
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
নিশ্চয় কোরআন সত্য - মিথ্যার ফয়সালা।
Yusuf Ali
Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil):
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
আর তা অনর্থক নয়।

It is no pleasantry.

এবং এটা উপহাস নয়।

It is not a thing for amusement.
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
নিশ্চয় তারা ভীষণ কৌশল করছে।
Pickthall
Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad)
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
তারা ভীষণ চক্রান্ত করে,
Yusuf Ali
As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
আর আমিও ভীষণ কৌশল করছি।
Pickthall
And I plot a plot (against them).
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
আর আমিও কৌশল করি।
Yusuf Ali
And I am planning a scheme.
বয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন
অতএব কাফিরদেরকে অবকাশ দাও, তাদেরকে কিছু সময়ের অবকাশ দাও।
Pickthall
So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
অতএব, কাফেরদেরকে অবকাশ দিন, তাদেরকে অবকাশ দিন, কিছু দিনের জন্যে।
Yusuf Ali
Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile).
