Chapter 90, 20 verses
আমি কসম করছি এই নগরীর।
I do call to witness this City; -
La oqsimu bihatha albaladi
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
আর তুমি এই নগরীতে মুক্ত।
And thou art a freeman of this City; -
Waanta hillun bihatha albaladi
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
কসম জনকের এবং যা সে জন্ম দেয়।
And (the mystic ties of) parent and child; -
Wawalidin wama walada
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
নিঃসন্দেহে আমি মানুষকে সৃষ্টি করেছি কষ্ট- ক্লেশের মধ্যে।
Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.
Laqad khalaqna alinsana fee kabadin
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ
সে কি ধারণা করছে যে, কেউ কখনো তার উপর ক্ষমতাবান হবে না?
Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?
Ayahsabu an lan yaqdira AAalayhi ahadun
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
সে বলে, ‘আমি প্রচুর ধন-সম্পদ নিঃশেষ করেছি’।
He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!
Yaqoolu ahlaktu malan lubadan
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
সে কি ধারণা করছে যে, কেউ তাকে দেখেনি?
Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?
Ayahsabu an lam yarahu ahadun
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
আমি কি তার জন্য দু’টি চোখ বানাইনি?
Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? -
Alam najAAal lahu AAaynayni
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ
আর একটি জিহবা ও দু’টি ঠোঁট?
And a tongue, and a pair of lips? -
Walisanan washafatayni
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
আর আমি তাকে দু’টি পথ প্রদর্শন করেছি।
And shown him the two highways?
Wahadaynahu alnnajdayni
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ
তবে সে বন্ধুর গিরিপথটি অতিক্রম করতে সচেষ্ট হয়নি।
But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.
Fala iqtahama alAAaqabata
فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ
আর কিসে তোমাকে জানাবে, বন্ধুর গিরিপথটি কী?
And what will explain to thee the path that is steep? -
Wama adraka ma alAAaqabatu
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ
তা হচ্ছে, দাস মুক্তকরণ।
(It is:) freeing the bondman;
Fakku raqabatin
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
অথবা খাদ্য দান করা দুর্ভিক্ষের দিনে।
Or the giving of food in a day of privation
Aw itAAamun fee yawmin thee masghabatin
أَوْ إِطْعَٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ
এক এতিমকে, যে নিকট আত্মীয়,
To the orphan with claims of relationship,
Yateeman tha maqrabatin
يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
অথবা ধূলি-মলিন মিসকীনকে।
Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.
Aw miskeenan tha matrabatin
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
অতঃপর সে তাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে যায়, যারা ঈমান এনেছে এবং পরস্পরকে উপদেশ দেয় ধৈর্যধারণের, আর পরস্পরকে উপদেশ দেয় দয়া-অনুগ্রহের।
Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self - restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.
Thumma kana mina allatheena amanoo watawasaw bialssabri watawasaw bialmarhamati
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ
তারাই সৌভাগ্যবান।
Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.
Olaika ashabu almaymanati
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
আর যারা আমার আয়াতসমূহকে অস্বীকার করেছে তারাই দুর্ভাগা।
But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.
Waallatheena kafaroo biayatina hum ashabu almashamati
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
তাদের উপর থাকবে অবরুদ্ধ আগুন।
On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).
AAalayhim narun musadatun
عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ
