Chapter 40, 85 verses
হা-মীম।
Ha Mim
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
মহাপরাক্রমশালী সর্বজ্ঞানী আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে এই কিতাব নাযিলকৃত।
The revelation of this Book is from Allah, Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge, -
The revelation of the Book (this Qur'an) is from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.
তিনি পাপ ক্ষমাকারী, তাওবা কবূলকারী, কঠোর আযাবদাতা, অনুগ্রহ বর্ষণকারী। তিনি ছাড়া কোন (সত্য) নেই। তাঁর দিকেই প্রত্যাবর্তন।
Who forgiveth sin, accepteth repentance, is strict in punishment, and hath a long reach (in all things). there is no god but He: to Him is the final goal.
The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment, the Bestower (of favours). La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), to Him is the final return.
কাফিররাই কেবল আল্লাহর আয়াতসমূহ নিয়ে বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হয়। সুতরাং দেশে দেশে তাদের অবাধ বিচরণ যেন তোমাকে ধোঁকায় না ফেলে।
None can dispute about the Signs of Allah but the Unbelievers. Let not, then, their strutting about through the land deceive thee!
None disputes in the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah but those who disbelieve. So let not their ability of going about here and there through the land (for their purposes) deceive you [O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, for their ultimate end will be the Fire of Hell]!
এদের পূর্বে নূহের কওম এবং তাদের পরে অনেক দলও অস্বীকার করেছিল। প্রত্যেক উম্মতই স্ব স্ব রাসূলকে পাকড়াও করার সংকল্প করেছিল এবং সত্যকে বিদূরীত করার উদ্দেশ্যে তারা অসার বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হয়েছিল। ফলে আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলাম। সুতরাং কেমন ছিল আমার আযাব!
But (there were people) before them, who denied (the Signs), - the People of Noah, and the Confederates (of Evil) after them; and every People plotted against their prophet, to seize him, and disputed by means of vanities, therewith to condemn the Truth; but it was I that seized them! and how (terrible) was My Requital!
The people of Nuh (Noah) and the Confederates after them denied (their Messengers) before these; and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him, and disputed by means of falsehood to refute therewith the truth. So I seized them (with punishment), and how (terrible) was My punishment!
আর এভাবে কাফিরদের ক্ষেত্রে তোমার রবের বাণী সত্যে পরিণত হল যে, নিশ্চয় এরা জাহান্নামী।
Thus was the Decree of thy Lord proved true against the Unbelievers; that truly they are Companions of the Fire!
Thus has the Word of your Lord been justified against those who disbelieved, that they will be the dwellers of the Fire.
যারা আরশকে ধারণ করে এবং যারা এর চারপাশে রয়েছে, তারা তাদের রবের প্রশংসাসহ তাসবীহ পাঠ করে এবং তাঁর প্রতি ঈমান রাখে। আর মুমিনদের জন্য ক্ষমা চেয়ে বলে যে, ‘হে আমাদের রব, আপনি রহমত ও জ্ঞান দ্বারা সব কিছুকে পরিব্যপ্ত করে রয়েছেন। অতএব যারা তাওবা করে এবং আপনার পথ
Those who sustain the Throne (of Allah) and those around it Sing Glory and Praise to their Lord; believe in Him; and implore Forgiveness for those who believe: "Our Lord! Thy Reach is over all things, in Mercy and Knowledge. Forgive, then, those who turn in Repentance, and follow Thy Path; and preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire!
Those (angels) who bear the Throne (of Allah) and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah) (saying): "Our Lord! You comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the torment of the blazing Fire!
‘হে আমাদের রব, আর আপনি তাদেরকে স্থায়ী জান্নাতে প্রবেশ করান, যার ওয়াদা আপনি তাদেরকে দিয়েছেন। আর তাদের পিতা-মাতা, পতি-পত্নি ও সন্তান-সন্ততিদের মধ্যে যারা সৎকর্ম সম্পাদন করেছে তাদেরকেও। নিশ্চয় আপনি মহাপরাক্রমশালী, মহাপ্রজ্ঞাময়।’
"And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom.
"Our Lord! And make them enter the 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them - and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
‘আর আপনি তাদের অপরাধের আযাব হতে রক্ষা করুন এবং সেদিন আপনি যাকে অপরাধের আযাব থেকে রক্ষা করবেন, অবশ্যই তাকে অনুগ্রহ করবেন। আর এটিই মহাসাফল্য।’
"And preserve them from (all) ills; and any whom Thou dost preserve from ills that Day, - on them wilt Thou have bestowed Mercy indeed: and that will be truly (for them) the highest Achievement".
"And save them from (the punishment, for what they did of) the sins, and whomsoever You save from (the punishment for what he did of) the sins (i.e. pardon him) that Day, him verily, You have taken into mercy." And that is the supreme success.
নিশ্চয় যারা করেছে তাদেরকে উচ্চকণ্ঠে বলা হবে; ‘তোমাদের নিজদের প্রতি তোমাদের (আজকের) এ অসন্তোষ অপেক্ষা অবশ্যই আল্লাহর অসন্তোষ অধিকতর ছিল, যখন তোমাদেরকে ঈমানের প্রতি আহবান করা হয়েছিল তারপর তোমরা তা অস্বীকার করেছিলে’।
The Unbelievers will be addressed: "Greater was the aversion of Allah to you than (is) your aversion to yourselves, seeing that ye were called to the Faith and ye used to refuse."
Those who disbelieve will be addressed (at the time of entering the Fire): "Allah's aversion was greater towards you (in the worldly life when you used to reject the Faith) than your aversion towards one another (now in the Fire of Hell, as you are now enemies to one another), when you were called to the Faith but you used to refuse."
তারা বলবে, ‘হে আমাদের রব, আপনি আমাদেরকে দু’বার মৃত্যু দিয়েছেন এবং দু’বার জীবন দিয়েছেন। অতঃপর আমরা আমাদের অপরাধ স্বীকার করছি। অতএব (জাহান্নাম থেকে) বের হবার কোন পথ আছে কি’?
They will say: "Our Lord! twice hast Thou made us without life, and twice hast Thou given us Life! Now have we recognised our sins: Is there any way out (of this)?"
They will say: "Our Lord! You have made us to die twice (i.e. we were dead in the loins of our fathers and dead after our life in this world), and You have given us life twice (i.e. life when we were born and life when we are Resurrected)! Now we confess our sins, then is there any way to get out (of the Fire)?" (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi,)
[তাদেরকে বলা হবে] ‘এটা তো এজন্য যে, যখন আল্লাহকে এককভাবে ডাকা হত তখন তোমরা তাঁকে অস্বীকার করতে আর যখন তাঁর সাথে শরীক করা হত তখন তোমরা বিশ্বাস করতে। সুতরাং যাবতীয় কর্তৃত্ব সমুচ্চ, মহান আল্লাহর’।
(The answer will be:) "This is because, when Allah was invoked as the Only (object of worship), ye did reject Faith, but when partners were joined to Him, ye believed! the Command is with Allah, Most High, Most Great!"
(It will be said): "This is because, when Allah Alone was invoked (in worship) you disbelieved (denied), but when partners were joined to Him, you believed! So the judgement is only with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great! "
তিনিই তোমাদেরকে তাঁর নিদর্শনাবলী দেখান এবং আকাশ থেকে তোমাদের জন্য রিযক পাঠান। আর যে অভিমুখী সেই কেবল উপদেশ গ্রহণ করে থাকে।
He it is Who showeth you his Signs, and sendeth down sustenance for you from the sky: but only those receive admonition who turn (to Allah).
It is He Who shows you His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and sends down (rain with which grows) provision for you from the sky. And none remembers but those who turn (to Allah in obedience and) in repentance (by begging His Pardon and by worshipping and obeying Him Alone and none else).
সুতরাং তোমরা আল্লাহকে ডাক, তাঁর উদ্দেশ্যে দীনকে একনিষ্ঠভাবে নিবেদিত করে। যদিও কাফিররা অপছন্দ করে।
Call ye, then, upon Allah with sincere devotion to Him, even though the Unbelievers may detest it.
So, call you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and the believers) upon (or invoke) Allah making (your) worship pure for Him (Alone) (by worshipping none but Him and by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allah's sake only and not to show off and not to set up rivals with Him in worship), however much the disbelievers (in the Oneness of Allah) may hate (it).
সুউচ্চ মর্যাদার অধিকারী, আরশের অধিপতি, তাঁর বান্দাদের মধ্য থেকে যার প্রতি ইচ্ছা আপন নির্দেশে তিনি ওহী পাঠান, যেন সে মহামিলন সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করেন।
Raised high above ranks (or degrees), (He is) the Lord of the Throne (of Authority): by His Command doth He send the Spirit (of inspiration) to any of His servants he pleases, that it may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting, -
(He is Allah) Owner of High Ranks and Degrees, the Owner of the Throne. He sends the revelation by His Command to any of His slaves He wills, that he (the person who receives revelation) may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
যে দিন লোকেরা প্রকাশ হয়ে পড়বে। সে দিন আল্লাহর নিকট তাদের কিছুই গোপন থাকবে না। ‘আজ রাজত্ব কার’? প্রবল প্রতাপশালী এক আল্লাহর।
The Day whereon they will (all) come forth: not a single thing concerning them is hidden from Allah. Whose will be the dominion that Day?" That of Allah, the One the Irresistible!
The Day when they will (all) come out, nothing of them will be hidden from Allah. Whose is the kingdom this Day? (Allah Himself will reply to His Question): It is Allah's the One, the Irresistible!
আজ প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিকে তার অর্জন অনুসারে প্রতিদান দেয়া হবে। আজ কোন যুল্ম নেই। নিশ্চয় দ্রুত হিসাবগ্রহণকারী।
That Day will every soul be requited for what it earned; no injustice will there be that Day, for Allah is Swift in taking account.
This Day shall every person be recompensed for what he earned. This Day no injustice (shall be done to anybody). Truly, Allah is Swift in reckoning.
আর তুমি তাদের আসন্ন দিন সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করে দাও। যখন তাদের প্রাণ কণ্ঠাগত হবে দুঃখ, কষ্ট সংবরণ অবস্থায়। যালিমদের জন্য নেই কোন অকৃত্রিম বন্ধু, নেই এমন কোন সুপারিশকারী যাকে গ্রাহ্য করা হবে।
Warn them of the Day that is (ever) drawing near, when the hearts will (come) right up to the throats to choke (them); No intimate friend nor intercessor will the wrong - doers have, who could be listened to.
And warn them (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of the Day that is drawing near (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), when the hearts will be choking the throats, and they can neither return them (hearts) to their chests nor can they throw them out. There will be no friend, nor an intercessor for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers), who could be given heed to.
চক্ষুসমূহের খেয়ানত এবং অন্তরসমূহ যা গোপন রাখে তিনি তা জানেন।
(Allah) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes, and all that the hearts (of men) conceal.
Allah knows the fraud of the eyes, and all that the breasts conceal.
আর সঠিকভাবে ফয়সালা করেন এবং তাঁকে বাদ দিয়ে তারা যাদের ডাকে তারা কোন কিছুর ফয়সালা করতে পারবে না। নিশ্চয় , তিনিই সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বদ্রষ্টা।
And Allah will judge with (justice and) Truth: but those whom (men) invoke besides Him, will not (be in a position) to judge at all. Verily it is Allah (alone) Who hears and sees (all things).
And Allah judges with truth, while those to whom they invoke besides Him, cannot judge anything. Certainly, Allah! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.
এরা কি যমীনে বিচরণ করে না? তাহলে দেখত, তাদের পূর্বে যারা ছিল তাদের পরিণতি কেমন হয়েছিল? তারা এদের তুলনায় যমীনে শক্তিমত্তা ও প্রভাব বিস্তারে প্রবলতর ছিল। অতঃপর তাদের পাকড়াও করলেন তাদের পাপাচারের কারণে। আর তাদের জন্য ছিল না আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে কোন রক্ষা
Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were even superior to them in strength, and in the traces (they have left) in the land: but Allah did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to defend them against Allah.
Have they not travelled in the land and seen what was the end of those who were before them? They were superior to them in strength, and in the traces (which they left) in the land. But Allah seized them with punishment for their sins. And none had they to protect them from Allah.
এটি এ কারণে যে, তাদের কাছে তাদের রাসূলগণ সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদি নিয়ে আসত, কিন্তু তারা তাদেরকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করত। ফলে তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলেন। নিশ্চয় তিনি শক্তিমান, আযাবদানে কঠোর।
That was because there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs), but they rejected them: So Allah called them to account: for He is Full of Strength, Strict in Punishment.
That was because there came to them their Messengers with clear evidence (proofs and signs) but they disbelieved (in them). So Allah seized them (with punishment). Verily He is All-Strong, Severe in punishment.
আর অবশ্যই আমি মূসাকে আমার নিদর্শনাবলী ও স্পষ্ট প্রমাণসহ প্রেরণ করেছিলাম।
Of old We sent Moses, with Our Signs and an authority manifest,
And indeed We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and a manifest authority,
ফির‘আউন, হামান ও কারূনের প্রতি। অতঃপর তারা বলল, ‘সে এক যাদুকর, চরম মিথ্যাবাদী’।
To Pharaoh, Haman, and Qarun; but they called (him)" a sorcerer telling lies!"...
To Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and Qarun (Korah), but they called (him): "A sorcerer, a liar!"
অতঃপর যখন মূসা আমার কাছ থেকে সত্য নিয়ে তাদের কাছে উপস্থিত হয়েছিল, তখন তারা বলল, ‘যারা তার সাথে ঈমান এনেছে তোমরা তাদের ছেলে-সন্তানদেরকে হত্যা কর এবং তাদের মেয়ে-সন্তানদেরকে জীবিত রাখ’। আর কাফিরদের ষড়যন্ত্র কেবল ব্যর্থই হবে।
Now, when he came to them in Truth, from Us, they said, "Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females," but the plots of Unbelievers (end) in nothing but errors (and delusions)!...
Then, when he brought them the Truth from Us, they said: "Kill the sons of those who believe with him and let their women live"; but the plots of disbelievers are nothing but in vain!
আর ফির‘আউন বলল, ‘আমাকে ছেড়ে দাও, আমি মূসাকে হত্যা করি এবং সে তার রবকে ডাকুক; নিশ্চয় আমি আশঙ্কা করি, সে তোমাদের দীন পাল্টে দেবে অথবা সে যমীনে বিপর্যয় ছড়িয়ে দেবে।
Said Pharaoh: "Leave me to slay Moses; and let him call on his Lord! What I fear is lest he should change your religion, or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land!"
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)! I fear that he may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!"
মূসা বলল, ‘আমি আমার রব ও তোমাদের রবের কাছে আশ্রয় প্রার্থনা করছি প্রত্যেক অহঙ্কারী থেকে, যে বিচার দিনের প্রতি ঈমান রাখে না’।
Moses said: "I have indeed called upon my Lord and your Lord (for protection) from every arrogant one who believes not in the Day of Account!"
Musa (Moses) said: "Verily I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant who believes not in the Day of Reckoning!"
‘আর ফির‘আউন বংশের এক ব্যক্তি যে তার ঈমান গোপন রাখছিল সে বলল, ‘তোমরা কি একটি লোককে কেবল এ কারণে হত্যা করবে যে সে বলে, ‘আমার রব ’ অথচ সে তোমাদের রবের পক্ষ থেকে সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ নিয়ে তোমাদের কাছে এসেছে? সে যদি মিথ্যাবাদী হয় তবে তার উপরই বর্তাবে তা
A believer, a man from among the people of Pharaoh, who had concealed his faith, said: "Will ye slay a man because he says, 'My Lord is Allah'? - when he has indeed come to you with Clear (Signs) from your Lord? and if he be a liar, on him is (the sin of) his lie: but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you something of the (calamity) of which he warns you: Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies!
And a believing man of Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith said: "Would you kill a man because he says: My Lord is Allah, and he has come to you with clear signs (proofs) from your Lord? And if he is a liar, upon him will be (the sin of) his lie; but if he is telling the truth, then some of that (calamity) wherewith he threatens you will befall on you." Verily, Allah guides not one who is a Musrif (a polytheist, or a murderer who shed blood without a right, or those who commit great sins, oppressor, transgressor), a liar!
‘হে আমার কওম, আজ তোমাদের রাজত্ব; যমীনে তোমরাই কর্তৃত্বশীল; কিন্তু আল্লাহর আযাব আসলে কে আমাদেরকে সাহায্য করবে’? ফির‘আউন বলল, ‘যা আমি সঠিক মনে করি তা-ই আমি তোমাদেরকে দেখাই আর আমি তোমাদেরকে কেবল সঠিক পথই দেখাই’।
"O my People! Yours is the dominion this day: Ye have the upper hand in the land: but who will help us from the Punishment of Allah, should it befall us?" Pharaoh said: "I but point out to you that which I see (myself); Nor do I guide you but to the Path of Right!"
"O my people! Yours is the kingdom today, you being dominant in the land. But who will save us from the Torment of Allah, should it befall us?" Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "I show you only that which I see (correct), and I guide you only to the path of right policy!"
আর যে ব্যক্তি ঈমান এনেছিল সে আরো বলল, ‘হে আমার সম্প্রদায়, নিশ্চয় আমি তোমাদের ব্যাপারে পূর্ববর্তী দলসমূহের দিনের অনুরূপ আশঙ্কা করি’;
Then said the man who believed: "O my people! Truly I do fear for you something like the Day (of disaster) of the Confederates (in sin)! -
And he who believed said: "O my people! Verily, I fear for you a fate like that day (of disaster) of the Confederates (of old)!
‘যেমন ঘটেছিল নূহ, ‘আদ ও ছামূদ-এর কওম এবং তাদের পরবর্তীদের। আর বান্দাদের উপর কোন যুলম করতে চান না।’
"Something like the fate of the People of Noah, the 'Ad, and the Thamud, and those who came after them: but Allah never wishes injustice to his Servants.
"Like the fate of the people of Nuh (Noah), and 'Ad, and Thamud and those who came after them. And Allah wills no injustice for (His) slaves.
‘আর হে আমার কওম, আমি তোমাদের জন্য পারস্পরিক ভয়ার্ত আহবান দিনের আশঙ্কা করি’।
"And O my people! I fear for you a Day when there will be Mutual calling (and wailing), -
"And, O my people! Verily, I fear for you the Day when there will be mutual calling (between the people of Hell and of Paradise)."
‘যেদিন তোমরা পিছনে পালাতে চাইবে আল্লাহর থেকে তোমাদেরকে রক্ষা করার জন্য কেউ থাকবে না; আর যাকে বিভ্রান্ত করেন তার জন্য কোন হিদায়াতকারী নেই’।
"A Day when ye shall turn your backs and flee: No defender shall ye have from Allah: Any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is none to guide...
A Day when you will turn your backs and flee having no protector from Allah. And whomsoever Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide.
আর অবশ্যই পূর্বে তোমাদের কাছে সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদিসহ ইউসুফ এসেছিল, সে যা নিয়ে তোমাদের কাছে এসেছিল তা নিয়ে তোমরা সন্দেহে স্থির ছিলে; এমনকি যখন সে মারা গেল তখন তোমরা বললে, ‘ তার পরে কখনো কোন রাসূল পাঠাবেন না’। যে সীমালংঘনকারী, সংশয়বাদী, তাকে এভাব
"And to you there came Joseph in times gone by, with Clear Signs, but ye ceased not to doubt of the (Mission) for which he had come: At length, when he died, ye said: 'No messenger will Allah send after him.' thus doth Allah leave to stray such as transgress and live in doubt, -
And indeed Yusuf (Joseph) did come to you, in times gone by, with clear signs, but you ceased not to doubt in that which he did bring to you: till when he died you said: "No Messenger will Allah send after him." Thus Allah leaves astray him who is a Musrif (a polytheist, an oppressor, a criminal, sinner who commit great sins) and a Murtab (one who doubts Allah's Warning and His Oneness).
যারা নিজদের কাছে আগত কোন দলীল-প্রমাণ ছাড়া আল্লাহর নিদর্শনাবলী সম্পর্কে বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হয়। তাদের এ কাজ ও মুমিনদের দৃষ্টিতে অতিশয় ঘৃণার্হ। এভাবেই প্রত্যেক অহঙ্কারী স্বৈরাচারীর অন্তরে সীল মেরে দেন।
"(Such) as dispute about the Signs of Allah, without any authority that hath reached them, grievous and odious (is such conduct) in the sight of Allah and of the Believers. Thus doth Allah, seal up every heart - of arrogant and obstinate Transgressors."
Those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority that has come to them, it is greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (So they cannot guide themselves to the Right Path).
ফির‘আউন আরও বলল, ‘হে হামান, আমার জন্য একটি উঁচু ইমারত বানাও যাতে আমি অবলম্বন পাই’।
Pharaoh said: "O Haman! Build me a lofty palace, that I may attain the ways and means -
And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "O Haman! Build me a tower that I may arrive at the ways -
‘আসমানে আরোহরণের অবলম্বন, যাতে আমি মূসার ইলাহকে দেখতে পাই, আর আমি কেবল তাকে মিথ্যাবাদী মনে করি’। আর এভাবে ফির‘আউনের কাছে তার মন্দ কাজ শোভিত করে দেয়া হয়েছিল এবং তাকে বাধা দেয়া হয়েছিল সৎপথ থেকে। আর ফির‘আউনের ষড়যন্ত্র কেবল ব্যর্থই হয়েছিল।
"The ways and means of (reaching) the heavens, and that I may mount up to the god of Moses: But as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" Thus was made alluring, in Pharaoh's eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the Path; and the plot of Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition (for him).
"The ways of the heavens, and I may look upon the Ilah (God) of Musa (Moses): But verily, I think him to be a liar." Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the (Right) Path; and the plot of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) led to nothing but loss and destruction (for him).
আর যে ব্যক্তি ঈমান এনেছিল, সে বলল, ‘হে আমার কওম, তোমরা আমার আনুগত্য কর; আমি তোমাদেরকে সঠিক পথ দেখাব’।
The man who believed said further: "O my people! Follow me: I will lead you to the Path of Right.
And the man who believed said: "O my people! Follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct [i.e. guide you to Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism with which Musa (Moses) has been sent].
‘হে আমার কওম, এ দুনিয়ার জীবন কেবল ক্ষণকালের ভোগ; আর নিশ্চয় আখিরাতই হল স্থায়ী আবাস’।
"O my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last.
"O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever."
‘কেউ পাপ কাজ করলে তাকে শুধু পাপের সমান প্রতিদান দেয়া হবে আর যে পুরুষ অথবা নারী হয়ে সৎকাজ করবে, তবে তারা জান্নাতে প্রবেশ করবে, সেখানে তাদেরকে অগণিত রিয্ক দেয়া হবে।’
"He that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed - whether man or woman - and is a Believer - such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance without measure.
"Whosoever does an evil deed, will not be requited except the like thereof; and whosoever does a righteous deed, whether male or female and is a true believer (in the Oneness of Allah), such will enter Paradise, where they will be provided therein (with all things in abundance) without limit.
‘আর হে আমার কওম, আমার কী হল যে, আমি তোমাদেরকে মুক্তির দিকে ডাকছি আর তোমরা আমাকে ডাকছ আগুনের দিকে!’
"And O my people! How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while ye call me to the Fire!
"And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire!
‘তোমরা আমাকে ডাকছ আমি যেন আল্লাহর সাথে করি, তাঁর সাথে শরীক করি যে ব্যাপারে আমার কোন জ্ঞান নেই; আর আমি তোমাদেরকে ডাকছি মহাপরাক্রমশালী ও পরম ক্ষমাশীলের দিকে।’
"Ye do call upon me to blaspheme against Allah, and to join with Him partners of whom I have no knowledge; and I call you to the Exalted in Power, Who forgives again and again!"
"You invite me to disbelieve in Allah (and in His Oneness), and to join partners in worship with Him of which I have no knowledge; and I invite you to the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving!
‘এ ব্যাপারে কোন সন্দেহ নেই যে, যার দিকে তোমরা আমাকে ডাকছ, সে দুনিয়া বা আখিরাতে কারো ডাকের যোগ্য নয়। আর আমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন হবে আল্লাহর দিকে এবং নিশ্চয় সীমালংঘনকারীরা হবে আগুনের সাথী’।
"Without doubt ye do call me to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to Allah; and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire!
"No doubt you call me to (worship) one who cannot grant (me) my request (or respond to my invocation) in this world or in the Hereafter. And our return will be to Allah, and Al-Musrifun (i.e. polytheists and arrogants, those who commit great sins, the transgressors of Allah's set limits): they shall be the dwellers of the Fire!
‘আমি তোমাদেরকে যা বলছি, অচিরেই তোমরা তা স্মরণ করবে। আর আমার বিষয়টি আমি আল্লাহর নিকট সমর্পণ করছি; নিশ্চয় তাঁর বান্দাদের ব্যাপারে সর্বদ্রষ্টা।’
"Soon will ye remember what I say to you (now), My (own) affair I commit to Allah: for Allah (ever) watches over His Servants."
"And you will remember what I am telling you, and my affair I leave it to Allah. Verily, Allah is the All-Seer of (His) slaves."
অতঃপর তাদের ষড়যন্ত্রের অশুভ পরিণাম থেকে তাকে রক্ষা করলেন আর ফির‘আউনের অনুসারীদেরকে ঘিরে ফেলল কঠিন আযাব।
Then Allah saved him from (every) ill that they plotted (against him), but the burnt of the Penalty encompassed on all sides the People of Pharaoh.
So Allah saved him from the evils that they plotted (against him), while an evil torment encompassed Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people.
আগুন, তাদেরকে সকাল-সন্ধ্যায় তার সামনে উপস্থিত করা হয়, আর যেদিন কিয়ামত সংঘটিত হবে (সেদিন ঘোষণা করা হবে), ‘ফির‘আউনের অনুসারীদেরকে কঠোরতম আযাবে প্রবেশ করাও।’
In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening: And (the sentence will be) on the Day that Judgment will be established: "Cast ye the People of Pharaoh into the severest Penalty!"
The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon. And on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): "Cause Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!"
আর জাহান্নামে তারা যখন বানানুবাদে লিপ্ত হবে তখন দুর্বলরা, যারা অহঙ্কার করেছিল, তাদেরকে বলবে, ‘আমরা তো তোমাদের অনুসারী ছিলাম, অতএব তোমরা কি আমাদের থেকে আগুনের কিয়দংশ বহন করবে’?
Behold, they will dispute with each other in the Fire! The weak ones (who followed) will say to those who had been arrogant, "We but followed you: Can ye then take (on yourselves) from us some share of the Fire?
And, when they will dispute in the Fire, the weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Verily, we followed you: can you then take from us some portion of the Fire?"
অহঙ্কারীরা বলবে, ‘আমরা সবাই এতে আছি; নিশ্চয় বান্দাদের মধ্যে ফয়সালা করে ফেলেছেন।’
Those who had been arrogant will say: "We are all in this (Fire)! Truly, Allah has judged between (his) Servants!"
Those who were arrogant will say: "We are all (together) in this (Fire)! Verily, Allah has judged between (His) slaves!"
আর যারা আগুনে থাকবে তারা আগুনের দারোয়ানদেরকে বলবে, ‘তোমাদের রবকে একটু ডাকো না! তিনি যেন একটি দিন আমাদের আযাব লাঘব করে দেন।’
Those in the Fire will say to the Keepers of Hell: "Pray to your Lord to lighten us the Penalty for a day (at least)!"
And those in the Fire will say to the keepers (angels) of Hell: "Call upon your Lord to lighten for us the torment for a day!"
তারা বলবে, ‘তোমাদের কাছে কি সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদিসহ তোমাদের রাসূলগণ আসেনি’? জাহান্নামীরা বলবে, ‘হ্যাঁ অবশ্যই’। দারোয়ানরা বলবে, ‘তবে তোমরাই দো‘আ কর। আর কাফিরদের দো‘আ কেবল নিষ্ফলই হয়’।
They will say: "Did there not come to you your messengers with Clear Signs?" They will say, "Yes". They will reply, "Then pray (as ye like)! But the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile wandering) in (mazes of) error!"
They will say: "Did there not come to you, your Messengers with (clear) evidence (and signs)?" They will say: "Yes." They will reply: "Then call (as you like)! And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but in vain (as it will not be answered by Allah)!"
নিশ্চয় আমি আমার রাসূলদেরকে ও মুমিনদেরকে দুনিয়ার জীবনে এবং যেদিন সাক্ষীগণ দন্ডায়মান হবে সেদিন সাহায্য করব।
We will, without doubt, help our messengers and those who believe, (both) in this world's life and on the Day when the Witnesses will stand forth, -
Verily, We will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) in this world's life and on the Day when the witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection) -
যেদিন যালিমদের কোন ওযর-আপত্তি তাদের উপকার করবে না। আর তাদের জন্য রয়েছে লা‘নত এবং তাদের জন্য রয়েছে নিকৃষ্ট নিবাস।
The Day when no profit will it be to Wrong - doers to present their excuses, but they will (only) have the Curse and the Home of Misery.
The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). Theirs will be the curse, and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).
আর অবশ্যই আমি মূসাকে হিদায়াত দান করেছিলাম এবং বনী ইসরাঈলকে কিতাবের উত্তরাধিকারী করেছিলাম,
We did aforetime give Moses the (Book of) Guidance, and We gave the book in inheritance to the Children of Israel, -
And, indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Taurat (Torah)] -
যা জ্ঞান-বুদ্ধিসম্পন্নদের জন্য হিদায়াত ও উপদেশ।

A guide and a reminder for men of understanding.
কাজেই তুমি ধৈর্য ধারণ কর, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহর ওয়াদা সত্য। আর তুমি তোমার ত্রুটির জন্য ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা কর এবং সকাল- সন্ধ্যায় তোমার রবের প্রশংসাসহ তাসবীহ পাঠ কর।
Patiently, then, persevere: for the Promise of Allah is true: and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and celebrate the Praises of thy Lord in the evening and in the morning.
So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault and glorify the praises of your Lord in the 'Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the 'Asr and Fajr prayers].
নিশ্চয় যারা তাদের নিকট আসা কোন দলীল- প্রমাণ ছাড়াই আল্লাহর নিদর্শনাবলী সম্পর্কে বিতর্ক করে, তাদের অন্তরসমূহে আছে কেবল অহঙ্কার, তারা কিছুতেই সেখানে (সাফল্যের মনযিলে) পৌঁছবে না। কাজেই তুমি আল্লাহর কাছে আশ্রয় চাও, নিশ্চয় তিনি সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বদ্রষ্টা।
Those who dispute about the signs of Allah without any authority bestowed on them, - there is nothing in their breasts but (the quest of) greatness, which they shall never attain to: seek refuge, then, in Allah: It is He Who hears and sees (all things).
Verily those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority having come to them, there is nothing else in their breasts except pride [to accept you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as a Messenger of Allah and to obey you] . They will never have it (i.e. Prophethood which Allah has bestowed upon you). So seek refuge in Allah (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم from the arrogants). Verily, it is He Who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.
অবশ্যই আসমানসমূহ ও যমীন সৃষ্টি করা মানুষ সৃষ্টি করার চেয়ে বড় বিষয়; কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষই তা জানে না।
Assuredly the creation of the heavens and the earth is a greater (matter) than the creation of men: Yet most men understand not.
The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind; yet, most of mankind know not.
আর সমান হয় না অন্ধ ও দৃষ্টিশক্তিসম্পন্ন ব্যক্তি এবং যারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে, আর যারা অপরাধী। তোমরা খুব সামান্যই উপদেশ গ্রহণ করে থাক।
Not equal are the blind and those who (clearly) see: Nor are (equal) those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and those who do evil. Little do ye learn by admonition!
And not equal are the blind and those who see; nor are (equal) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous good deeds, and those who do evil. Little do you remember!
নিশ্চয় কিয়ামত আসবেই, এতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক ঈমান আনে না।
The Hour will certainly come: Therein is no doubt: Yet most men believe not.
Verily, the Hour (Day of Judgement) is surely coming, there is no doubt about it, yet most men believe not.
আর তোমাদের রব বলেছেন, ‘তোমরা আমাকে ডাক, আমি তোমাদের জন্য সাড়া দেব। নিশ্চয় যারা অহঙ্কার বশতঃ আমার ইবাদাত থেকে বিমুখ থাকে, তারা অচিরেই লাঞ্ছিত অবস্থায় জাহান্নামে প্রবেশ করবে।’
And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell - in humiliation!"
And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islamic Monotheism) and ask Me for anything] I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness, (Islamic Monotheism)] they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!"
, যিনি তোমাদের জন্য রাত বানিয়েছেন যাতে তোমরা তাতে বিশ্রাম করতে পার এবং দিনকে করেছেন আলোকোজ্জ্বল। নিশ্চয় মানুষের প্রতি বড়ই অনুগ্রহশীল; কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে না।
It is Allah Who has made the Night for you, that ye may rest therein, and the days as that which helps (you) to see. Verily Allah is full of Grace and Bounty to men: yet most men give no thanks.
Allah, it is He Who has made the night for you that you may rest therein and the day for you to see. Truly, Allah is full of Bounty to mankind; yet, most of mankind give no thanks.
তিনি , তোমাদের রব; সব কিছুর সৃষ্টিকর্তা, তিনি ছাড়া কোন (সত্য) নেই। সুতরাং তোমাদেরকে কোথায় ফিরিয়ে নেয়া হচ্ছে?
Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things, there is no god but He: Then how ye are deluded away from the Truth!
That is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things: La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turning away (from Allah, by worshipping others instead of Him)?
যারা আল্লাহর নিদর্শনাবলীকে অস্বীকার করে, তাদেরকে এভাবেই ফিরিয়ে নেয়া হয়।
Thus are deluded those who are wont to reject the Signs of Allah.
Thus were turned away those who used to deny the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah.
, যিনি তোমাদের জন্য যমীনকে স্থিতিশীল করেছেন এবং আসমানকে করেছেন ছাদ। আর তিনি তোমাদেরকে আকৃতি দিয়েছেন, অতঃপর তোমাদের আকৃতিকে সুন্দর করেছেন এবং তিনি পবিত্র বস্তু থেকে তোমাদেরকে রিয্ক দান করেছেন। তিনিই , তোমাদের রব। সুতরাং সৃষ্টিকুলের রব কত
It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape - and made your shapes beautiful, - and has provided for you Sustenance, of things pure and good; - such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!
Allah, it is He Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape and made your shapes good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord: so Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
তিনি চিরঞ্জীব, তিনি ছাড়া কোন (সত্য) নেই। সুতরাং তোমরা দীনকে তাঁর জন্য একনিষ্ঠ করে তাঁকে ডাক। সকল প্রশংসা আল্লাহর যিনি সৃষ্টিকুলের রব।
He is the Living (One): There is no god but He: Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!
He is the Ever Living, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He); so invoke Him making your worship pure for Him Alone (by worshipping Him Alone, and none else, and by doing righteous deeds sincerely for Allah's sake only, and not to show off, and not setting up rivals with Him in worship). All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
বল, ‘যেহেতু আমার রবের পক্ষ থেকে আমার কাছে সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদি এসেছে, তাই তোমরা ছাড়া যাদেরকে আহবান কর, নিশ্চয় তাদের ইবাদাত করতে আমাকে নিষেধ করা হয়েছে। আর সৃষ্টিকুলের রবের নিকট আত্মসমর্পণ করতে আমি আদিষ্ট হয়েছি’।
Say: "I have been forbidden to invoke those whom ye invoke besides Allah, - seeing that the Clear Signs have come to me from my Lord; and I have been commanded to bow (in Islam) to the Lord of the Worlds."
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship besides Allah, since there have come to me evidence from my Lord; and I am commanded to submit (in Islam) to the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
তিনিই তোমাদেরকে মাটি থেকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন। তারপর শুক্রবিন্দু থেকে, তারপর ‘আলাকা’* থেকে। অতঃপর তিনি তোমাদেরকে শিশুরূপে বের করে আনেন। তারপর যেন তোমরা তোমাদের যৌবনে পদার্পণ কর, অতঃপর যেন তোমরা বৃদ্ধ হয়ে যাও। আর তোমাদের কেউ কেউ এর পূর্বেই মারা যায়। আর যাতে তোমর
It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm - drop, then from a leech - like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old, - though of you there are some who die before; - and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom.
It is He, Who has created you (Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah [mixed semen drops of male and female sexual discharge (i.e. Adam's offspring)] then from a clot (a piece of coagulated blood), then brings you forth as an infant, then (makes you grow) to reach the age of full strength, and afterwards to be old (men and women)- though some among you die before,- and that you reach an appointed term in order that you may understand.
তিনিই জীবন দান করেন এবং মৃত্যু দেন। আর তিনি যখন কোন কিছু করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন, তখন তিনি এজন্য বলেন ‘হও’, ফলে তা হয়ে যায়।
It is He Who gives Life and Death; and when He decides upon an affair, He says to it, "Be", and it is.
It is He Who gives life and causes death. And when He decides upon a thing He says to it only: "Be!" - and it is.
তুমি কি তাদের প্রতি লক্ষ্য করনি যারা আল্লাহর নিদর্শনাবলী সম্পর্কে বাকবিতন্ডা করে? তাদেরকে কোথায় ফিরানো হচ্ছে?
Seest thou not those that dispute concerning the Signs of Allah? How are they turned away (from Reality)? -
See you not those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah? How are they turning away [from the truth, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism to the falsehood (i.e. polytheism)]?
যারা কিতাব এবং আমার রাসূলগণকে যা দিয়ে আমি প্রেরণ করেছি তা অস্বীকার করে, অতএব তারা শীঘ্রই জানতে পারবে।
Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know, -
Those who deny the Book (this Qur'an), and that with which We sent Our Messengers (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone sincerely, and to reject all false deities and to confess resurrection after the death for recompense) they will come to know (when they will be cast into the Fire of Hell).
যখন তাদের গলদেশে বেড়ী ও শিকল থাকবে, তাদেরকে টেনে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে-
When the yokes (shall be) round their necks, and the chains; they shall be dragged along -
When iron collars will be rounded over their necks, and the chains, they shall be dragged along,
ফুটন্ত পানিতে, অতঃপর তাদেরকে আগুনে পোড়ানো হবে।
In the boiling fetid fluid: then in the Fire shall they be burned;
In the boiling water, then they will be burned in the Fire.
তারপর তাদেরকে বলা হবে, ‘কোথায় তারা, যাদেরকে তোমরা শরীক করতে-
Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part - worship -
Then it will be said to them: "Where are (all) those whom you used to join in worship as partners
ছাড়া’? তারা বলবে, ‘তারা তো আমাদের কাছ থেকে উধাও হয়ে গেছে’, বরং এর পূর্বে আমরা কোন কিছুকে আহবান করিনি’। এভাবেই কাফিরদেরকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেন।
"In derogation of Allah?" They will reply: "They have left us in the lurch: Nay, we invoked not, of old, anything (that had real existence)." Thus does Allah leave the Unbelievers to stray.
"Besides Allah"? They will say: "They have vanished from us: Nay, we did not invoke (worship) anything before." Thus Allah leads astray the disbelievers.
এটা এ জন্য যে, তোমরা যমীনে অযথা উল্লাস করতে এবং এজন্য যে, তোমরা অহঙ্কার করতে।
"That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent.
That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error).
তোমরা জাহান্নামের দরজাসমূহ দিয়ে প্রবেশ কর চিরকাল তাতে অবস্থানের জন্য। অতএব অহঙ্কারীদের বাসস্থান কতইনা নিকৃষ্ট!
"Enter ye the gates of Hell, to dwell therein: and evil is (this) abode of the arrogant!"
Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein: and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!
অতএব তুমি ধৈর্যধারণ কর। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহর ওয়াদা সত্য। আর আমি তাদেরকে যে ওয়াদা দেই, তার কিছু অংশ যদি তোমাকে দেখাই অথবা তোমাকে মৃত্যু দেই, তাহলেও তারা আমার কাছে প্রত্যাবর্তিত হবে।
So persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them, - or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that), - (in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return.
So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم); verily, the Promise of Allah is true and whether We show you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in this world) some part of what We have promised them, or We cause you to die then still it is to Us they all shall be returned.
আর অবশ্যই আমি তোমার পূর্বে অনেক রাসূল পাঠিয়েছি। তাদের মধ্যে কারো কারো কাহিনী আমি তোমার কাছে বর্ণনা করেছি আর কারো কারো কাহিনী তোমার কাছে বর্ণনা করিনি। আর আল্লাহর অনুমতি ছাড়া কোন নিদর্শন নিয়ে আসা কোন রাসূলের উচিৎ নয়। তারপর যখন আল্লাহর নির্দেশ আসবে, তখন ন্যা
We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods.
And, indeed We have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): of some of them We have related to you their story. And of some We have not related to you their story, and it was not given to any Messenger that he should bring a sign except by the Leave of Allah. But, when comes the Commandment of Allah, the matter will be decided with truth, and the followers of falsehood will then be lost.
আল্লাহই তোমাদের জন্য গবাদি পশু সৃষ্টি করেছেন, যাতে তোমরা এদের কতকের উপর আরোহণ করতে পার আর কতক তোমরা খেতে পার।
It is Allah Who made cattle for you, that ye may use some for riding and some for food;
Allah, it is He Who has made cattle for you, that you may ride on some of them, and of some you eat.
আর এতে তোমাদের জন্য রয়েছে অনেক উপকার এবং যাতে তোমরা নিজদের অন্তরে যে প্রয়োজন অনুভব কর, ওগুলো দ্বারা তা পূর্ণ করতে পার। ওগুলোর উপর আর নৌযানের উপর তোমাদেরকে বহন করা হয়।
And there are (other) advantages in them for you (besides); that ye may through them attain to any need (there may be) in your hearts; and on them and on ships ye are carried.
And you have (many other) benefits from them, and that you may reach by their means a desire that is in your breasts (i.e. carry your goods, loads, etc.), and on them and on ships you are carried.
আর তিনি তোমাদেরকে তাঁর নিদর্শনাবলী দেখান। অতএব তোমরা আল্লাহর কোন্ কোন্ নিদর্শনকে অস্বীকার করবে?
And He shows you (always) His Signs: then which of the Signs of Allah will ye deny?
And He shows you His Ayat (signs and proofs) (of His Oneness in all the above-mentioned things). Which, then of the Ayat (signs and proofs) of Allah do you deny?
তারা কি যমীনে ভ্রমণ করেনি, তা হলে তারা দেখত, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কেমন হয়েছিল? তারা যমীনে ছিল তাদের চেয়ে সংখ্যায় অধিক, আর শক্তিতে ও কীর্তিতে তাদের চেয়ে অধিক প্রবল। অতঃপর তারা যা অর্জন করত তা তাদের কোন কাজে আসেনি।
Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were more numerous than these and superior in strength and in the traces (they have left) in the land: Yet all that they accomplished was of no profit to them.
Have they not travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those before them? They were more in number than them and mightier in strength, and in the traces (they have left behind them) in the land; yet all that they used to earn availed them not.
তারপর তাদের কাছে যখন তাদের রাসূলগণ স্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদিসহ আসল তখন তারা তাদের নিজদের কাছে যে বিদ্যা ছিল তাতেই উৎফুল্ল হয়ে উঠল। আর যা নিয়ে তাঁরা ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রূপ করত তা-ই তাদেরকে পরিবেষ্টন করল।
For when their messengers came to them with Clear Signs, they exulted in such knowledge (and skill) as they had; but that very (Wrath) at which they were wont to scoff hemmed them in.
Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad (and proud) with that which they had of the knowledge (of worldly things). And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them (i.e. the punishment).
তারপর তারা যখন আমার আযাব দেখল তখন বলল, ‘আমরা এক আল্লাহর প্রতি ঈমান আনলাম, আর যাদেরকে আমরা তার সাথে শরীক করতাম তাদেরকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করলাম’।
But when they saw Our Punishment, they said: "We believe in Allah, - the one Allah - and we reject the partners we used to join with Him."
So when they saw Our punishment, they said: "We believe in Allah Alone and reject (all) that we used to associate with Him as (His) partners.
সুতরাং তারা যখন আমার আযাব দেখল তখন তাদের ঈমান তাদের কোন উপকার করল না। এটা আল্লাহর বিধান, তাঁর বান্দাদের মধ্যে চলে আসছে। আর তখনই কাফিররা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে।
But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)!
Then their Faith (in Islamic Monotheism) could not avail them when they saw Our punishment. (Like) this has been the way of Allah in dealing with His slaves. And there the disbelievers lost utterly (when Our Torment covered them).
