Chapter 15, 99 verses
আলিফ-লাম-রা; এ হল কিতাব ও সুস্পষ্ট কুরআনের আয়াতসমূহ।
A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation, - of a Qur'an that makes things clear.
الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
কোন কোন সময় কাফিরেরা আকাংখা করবে যে, তারা যদি মুসলিম হত!
Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam.
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ
তাদেরকে ছেড়ে দাও, আহারে ও ভোগে তারা মত্ত থাকুক এবং আশা তাদেরকে গাফেল করে রাখুক, আর অচিরেই তারা জানতে পারবে।
Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا۟ وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَيُلْهِهِمُ ٱلْأَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
আর আমি কোন জনপদকে ধ্বংস করিনি তার জন্য নির্ধারিত সময় ছাড়া।
Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand.
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
কোন জাতিই তাদের সুনির্ধারিত সময় থেকে আগে বাড়তে পারে না আর পিছাতেও পারে না।
Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
আর তারা বলল, ‘হে ঐ ব্যক্তি, যার উপর কুরআন নাযিল করা হয়েছে, তুমি তো নিশ্চিত পাগল’।
They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)!
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
‘কেন আমাদের কাছে ফেরেশতা নিয়ে আসছ না, যদি তুমি সত্যবাদীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে থাক’?
"Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?"
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
আমি যথাযথ কারণ ছাড়া ফেরেশতাদের নাযিল করি না, আর (নাযিল করলে) তখন তারা অবকাশও পেত না।
We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
নিশ্চয় আমি কুরআন* নাযিল করেছি, আর আমিই তার হেফাযতকারী। * الذكر দ্বারা উদ্দেশ্য কুরআন।
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
আর আমি তোমার পূর্বে অতীত সম্প্রদায়গুলোর মধ্যে রাসূল প্রেরণ করেছি।
We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
আর যখনই তাদের নিকট কোন রাসূল আসত তারা তাকে নিয়ে উপহাস করত।
But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
এমনিভাবে আমি তা অপরাধীদের অন্তরে সঞ্চার করি।
Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners -
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
তারা এতে ঈমান আনবে না, আর পূর্ববর্তীদের (ব্যাপারে আল্লাহর) রীতি তো বিগত হয়েছে।
That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
আর যদি আমি তাদের জন্য আসমানের কোন দরজা খুলে দিতাম, অতঃপর তারা তাতে আরোহণ করতে থাকত ।
Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
তবুও তারা বলত, নিশ্চয় আমাদের দৃষ্টি কেড়ে নেয়া হয়েছে, বরং আমরা তো যাদুগ্রস্ত সম্প্রদায়।
They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery."
لَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُورُونَ
আর আমি আসমানে স্থাপন করেছি কক্ষপথসমূহ এবং তাকে সৌন্দর্যমন্ডিত করেছি দর্শকদের জন্য।
It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair - seeming to (all) beholders;
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ
আর আমি তাকে সুরক্ষিত করেছি প্রত্যেক বিতাড়িত শয়তান থেকে।
And (moreover) We have guarded them from every cursed devil:
وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
তবে যে গোপনে শোনে, তৎক্ষণাৎ সুস্পষ্ট জ্বলন্ত অগ্নিশিখা তার পিছু নেয়।
But any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a flaming fire, bright (to see).
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
আর যমীনকে আমি বিস্তৃত করেছি এবং তাতে সুদৃঢ় পাহাড় স্থাপন করেছি। আর তাতে উৎপন্ন করেছি সকল প্রকার বস্তু সুনির্দিষ্ট পরিমাণে ।
And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
আর তাতে তোমাদের জন্য এবং তোমরা যার রিয্ক দাতা নও তাদের জন্য রেখেছি জীবনোপকরণ ।
And We have provided therein means of subsistence, - for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible.
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
আর প্রতিটি বস্তুরই ভান্ডারসমূহ রয়েছে আমার কাছে এবং আমি তা অবতীর্ণ করি কেবল নির্দিষ্ট পরিমাণে।
And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.
وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
আর আমি বায়ুকে ঊর্বরকারীরূপে প্রেরণ করি অতঃপর আসমান থেকে বৃষ্টি বর্ষণ করি এবং তা তোমাদের পান করাই। তবে তোমরা তার সংরক্ষণকারী নও।
And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.
وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ
আর নিশ্চয় আমি জীবিত করি ও মৃত্যু দেই এবং আমিই ওয়ারিস।
And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْىِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
আর অবশ্যই আমি জানি তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তীদেরকে এবং অবশ্যই জানি পরবর্তীদেরকে।
To Us are known those of you who hasten forward, and those who lag behind.
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ
আর নিশ্চয় তোমার রব তাদেরকে একত্র করবেন। নিশ্চয় তিনি প্রজ্ঞাময় ও সর্বজ্ঞানী।
Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
আর অবশ্যই আমি মানুষকে সৃষ্টি করেছি শুকনো ঠনঠনে, কালচে কাদামাটি থেকে।
We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
আর ইতঃপূর্বে জিনকে সৃষ্টি করেছি উত্তপ্ত অগ্নিশিখা থেকে।
And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.
وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ
আর স্মরণ কর, যখন তোমার রব ফেরেশতাদের বললেন, ‘আমি একজন মানুষ সৃষ্টি করতে যাচ্ছি শুকনো ঠনঠনে কালচে মাটি থেকে’।
Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
‘অতএব যখন আমি তাকে পূর্ণাঙ্গ রূপ দেব এবং তার মধ্যে আমার রূহ ফুঁকে দেব, তখন তোমরা তার জন্য সিজদাবনত হও’।
"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ
অতঃপর, ফেরেশতারা সকলেই সিজদা করল।
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
ইবলীস ছাড়া। সে সিজদাকারীদের সঙ্গী হতে অস্বীকার করল।
Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
তিনি বললেন, ‘হে ইবলীস, তোমার কী হল যে, তুমি সিজদাকারীদের সঙ্গী হলে না’?
(Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"
قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
সে বলল, ‘আমি তো এমন নই যে, একজন মানুষকে আমি সিজদা করব, যাকে আপনি সৃষ্টি করেছেন শুকনো ঠনঠনে কালচে মাটি থেকে’।
(Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
তিনি বললেন, ‘তাহলে তুমি এখান থেকে বেরিয়ে যাও, তুমি বিতাড়িত’।
(Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
‘আর নিশ্চয় কিয়ামত দিবস পর্যন্ত তোমার উপর লা‘নত’।
"And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ ٱللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
সে বলল, ‘হে আমার রব, তাহলে আমাকে অবকাশ দিন সে দিন পর্যন্ত, যেদিন তাদেরকে পুনরুজ্জীবিত করা হবে’।
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
তিনি বললেন, ‘তুমি নিশ্চয় অবকাশপ্রাপ্তদের একজন’।
(Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
‘নির্ধারিত সময়ের দিন পর্যন্ত’।
"Till the Day of the Time appointed."
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
সে বলল, ‘হে আমার রব, যেহেতু আপনি আমাকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেছেন, তাই যমীনে আমি তাদের জন্য (পাপকে) শোভিত করব এবং নিশ্চয় তাদের সকলকে পথভ্রষ্ট করব’।
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair - seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong, -
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
তাদের মধ্য থেকে আপনার একান্ত বান্দাগণ ছাড়া।
"Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
তিনি বললেন, ‘এটা আমার দিকে আনয়নকারী সরল পথ’।
(Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.
قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
‘নিশ্চয় আমার বান্দাদের উপর তোমার কোন ক্ষমতা নেই, তবে পথভ্রষ্টরা ছাড়া যারা তোমাকে অনুসরণ করেছে’।
"For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ
‘আর নিশ্চয় জাহান্নাম তাদের সকলের প্রতিশ্রুত স্থান’।
And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all!
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘তার সাতটি দরজা রয়েছে। প্রতিটি দরজার জন্য রয়েছে তাদের মধ্য থেকে নির্দিষ্ট একটি শ্রেণী’।
To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ
নিশ্চয় মুত্তাকীগণ থাকবে জান্নাত ও ঝর্ণাধারাসমূহে।
The righteous (will be) amid gardens and fountains (of clear - flowing water).
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
‘তোমরা তাতে প্রবেশ কর শান্তিতে, নিরাপদ হয়ে’।
(Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."
ٱدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ
আর আমি তাদের অন্তর থেকে হিংসা বিদ্বেষ বের করে ফেলব, তারা সেখানে ভাই ভাই হয়ে আসনে মুখোমুখি বসবে।
And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity).
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
সেখানে তাদেরকে ক্লান্তি স্পর্শ করবে না এবং তারা সেখান থেকে বহিষ্কৃতও হবে না।
There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
আমার বান্দাদের জানিয়ে দাও যে, আমি নিশ্চয় ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।
Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft - forgiving, Most Merciful;
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِىٓ أَنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
আর আমার আযাবই যন্ত্রণাদায়ক আযাব।
And that My Penalty will be indeed the most grievous Penalty.
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ
আর তাদেরকে বলঃ ইবরাহীমের অতিথিদের কথা।
Tell them about the guests of Abraham.
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
যখন তারা তার নিকট প্রবেশ করল, অতঃপর বলল, ‘সালাম’। সে বলল, ‘আমরা নিশ্চয় তোমাদের ব্যাপারে শঙ্কিত’।
When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
তারা বলল, ‘তুমি ভীত হয়ো না, নিশ্চয় আমরা তোমাকে এক জ্ঞানী শিশুর সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছি’।
They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ
সে বলল, ‘তোমরা কি আমাকে সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছ, যখন বার্ধক্য আমাকে স্পর্শ করেছে ? সুতরাং তোমরা কিসের সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছ’ ?
He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?"
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
তারা বলল, ‘আমরা তোমাকে যথার্থ সুসংবাদ দিচ্ছি। সুতরাং তুমি নিরাশদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ো না’।
They said: "We give thee glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair!"
قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْقَٰنِطِينَ
সে বলল, ‘পথভ্রষ্টরা ছাড়া, কে তার রবের রহমত থেকে নিরাশ হয়’ ?
He said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?"
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
সে বলল, ‘তবে তোমাদের কী কাজ হে প্রেরিতগণ’ ?
Abraham said: "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah)?"
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
তারা বলল, ‘নিশ্চয় আমরা প্রেরিত হয়েছি অপরাধী কওমের নিকট’।
They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
‘লূতের পরিবার ছাড়া, আমরা নিশ্চয় তাদের সবাইকে রক্ষা করব’।
"Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm), - All -
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘তবে তার স্ত্রী ছাড়া, আমরা সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি যে, নিশ্চয় সে শাস্তিপ্রাপ্তদের দলভুক্ত’।
"Except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind."
إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
এরপর যখন ফেরেশতাগণ লূতের পরিবারের কাছে আসল,
At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut,
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
সে বলল, ‘তোমরা তো অপরিচিত লোক’।
He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
তারা বলল, ‘বরং আমরা তোমার কাছে এমন বিষয় নিয়ে এসেছি, যাতে তারা সন্দেহ করত’।
They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt.
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
‘আর আমরা তোমার নিকট সত্য নিয়ে এসেছি এবং আমরা অবশ্যই সত্যবাদী’।
"We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.
وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
‘সুতরাং তুমি তোমার পরিবার নিয়ে বেরিয়ে পড় রাতের একাংশে, আর তুমি তাদের পেছনে চল, আর তোমাদের কেউ পেছনে ফিরে তাকাবে না এবং যেভাবে তোমাদের নির্দেশ করা হয়েছে সেভাবেই চলতে থাকবে’।
"Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
আর আমি তাকে এ সিদ্ধান্ত জানিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম যে, নিশ্চয় সকালে এদের শিকড় কেটে ফেলা হবে।
And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.
وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
আর শহরের অধিবাসীরা উৎফুল্ল হয়ে হাযির হল।
The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).
وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
সে বলল, ‘নিশ্চয় এরা আমার মেহমান, সুতরাং আমাকে অপমানিত করো না’।
Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not:
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
‘তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় কর এবং আমাকে লাঞ্ছিত করো না’।
"But fear Allah, and shame me not."
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
তারা বলল, ‘আমরা কি জগদ্বাসীর কারো মেহমানদারী করতে তোমাকে নিষেধ করিনি’?
They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?"
قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
সে বলল, ‘ওরা আমার মেয়ে* , যদি তোমরা করতেই চাও (তবে বিবাহের মাধ্যমে বৈধ উপায়ে কর)। *‘আমার মেয়ে’ দ্বারা উদ্দেশ্য কওমের মেয়েরা। কারণ, যে কোন কওমের নবী তাদের পিতাতুল্য।
He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."
قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ
তোমার জীবনের কসম, নিশ্চয় তারা তাদেরকে নেশায় ঘুরপাক খাচ্ছিল।
Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro.
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
অতএব সূর্যোদয়কালে বিকট আওয়াজ তাদের পেয়ে বসল।
But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
অতঃপর আমি তার (নগরীর) উপরকে নিচে উলটে দিলাম এবং তাদের উপর বর্ষণ করলাম পোড়া মাটির পাথর।
And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.
فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
নিশ্চয় এতে পর্যবেক্ষণকারীদের জন্য রয়েছে নিদর্শনমালা।
Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
আর নিশ্চয়ই তা পথের পাশেই বিদ্যমান ।
And the (cities were) right on the high - road.
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
নিশ্চয় এতে মুমিনদের জন্য রয়েছে নিদর্শন।
Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
আর নিশ্চয় আইকার* অধিবাসীরা ছিল যালিম। * الأيكة বলা হয় ঘন উদ্যানকে। শুআইব (আ:)-এর কওম গহীন বনে বসবাস করত, তাই তাদেরকে أصحاب الأيكة বলা হয়।
And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong - doers;
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ
অতঃপর আমি তাদের থেকে প্রতিশোধ নিলাম। আর এ (জনপদ) দু’টি উন্মুক্ত রাস্তার পাশেই বিদ্যমান।
So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see.
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
আর অবশ্যই হিজরের অধিবাসীরা [সালেহের (আঃ) কওম] রাসূলদেরকে অস্বীকার করেছে।
The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers:
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْحِجْرِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
আর আমি তাদেরকে আমার আয়াতসমূহ দিয়েছিলাম, তবে তারা তা থেকে বিমুখ হয়েছে।
We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them.
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
আর তারা পাহাড় কেটে বাড়ি বানাত নিরাপদে।
Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.
وَكَانُوا۟ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ
কিন্তু ভোরে বিকট আওয়াজ তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করল।
But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning,
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
আর তারা যা উপার্জন করত, তা তাদের কাজে আসল না।
And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!
فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
আর আমি আসমানসমূহ, যমীন ও এ দুয়ের মধ্যে যা আছে, তা যথার্থতা ছাড়া সৃষ্টি করিনি এবং নিশ্চয় কিয়ামত আসবে। সুতরাং তুমি সুন্দরভাবে তাদেরকে এড়িয়ে যাও।
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
নিশ্চয় তোমার রবই সৃষ্টিকর্তা, মহাজ্ঞানী।
For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master - Creator, knowing all things.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
আর আমি তো তোমাকে দিয়েছি পুনঃপুনঃ পঠিত সাতটি আয়াত ও মহান কুরআন।
And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft - repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ
আমি তাদের কিছু শ্রেণীকে যে ভোগ-উপকরণ দিয়েছি, তার প্রতি তুমি দু’চোখ প্রসারিত করো না। আর তাদের জন্য দুঃখিত হয়ো না এবং মুমিনদের জন্য তোমার বাহু অবনত কর।
Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
আর বল, ‘নিশ্চয় আমিই সুস্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী’।
And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity," -
وَقُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
যেভাবে আমি নাযিল করেছিলাম বিভক্তকারীদের (ইয়াহূদী ও নাসারা) উপর,
(Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts), -
كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
যারা কুরআনকে বিভিন্ন অংশে ভাগ করেছিল।* * ‘বিভিন্ন অংশে ভাগ করেছিল, অর্থাৎ কুরআনকে তারা বিভিন্ন নামে ও বিভিন্ন অভিধায় চিহ্নত করত, যেমন কেউ বলত, এটি যাদু, কেউ বলত, কবিতা, আবার কেউ বলত, গণকদের গণনা ইত্যাদি।
(So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please).
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ
অতএব তোমার রবের কসম, আমি তাদের সকলকে অবশ্যই জেরা করব,
Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
তারা যা করত, সে সম্পর্কে।
For all their deeds.
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
সুতরাং তোমাকে যে আদেশ দেয়া হয়েছে, তা ব্যাপকভাবে প্রচার কর এবং মুশরিকদের থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নাও।
Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.
فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
নিশ্চয় আমি তোমার জন্য উপহাসকারীদের বিপক্ষে যথেষ্ট।
For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff, -
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
যারা আল্লাহর সাথে অন্য নির্ধারণ করে। অতএব তারা অচিরেই জানতে পারবে।
Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
আর অবশ্যই আমি জানি যে, তারা যা বলে তাতে তোমার অন্তর সঙ্কুচিত হয়।
We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
সুতরাং তুমি তোমার রবের প্রশংসায় তাসবীহ পাঠ কর এবং সিজদাকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হও।
But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
আর ইয়াকীন (মৃত্যু) আসা পর্যন্ত তুমি তোমার রবের ইবাদাত কর।
And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain.
وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
