Chapter 74, 56 verses
হে বস্ত্রাচ্ছাদিত !
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) enveloped in garments!
বিসমিল্লাহির রাহমা-নির রাহি-ম ইয়া য় আইয়ুহাল্ মুদ্দাছ্ছিরু।
উঠো, (মানুষকে) সতর্ক করো।
Arise and warn!
কুম্ ফাআর্ন্যি।
তোমার রব - এর শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব ঘোষণা করো।
And magnify your Lord (Allah)!
অরব্বাকা ফা কার্ব্বি
তোমার পোশাক পরিচ্ছদ পবিত্র রাখো।
And purify your garments!
অছিয়া-বাকা ফাত্বোয়ার্হ্হি।
আবিলতা (শিরকের অপবিত্রতা) পরিত্যাগ করো।
And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)!
র্অরুজযা-ফাহজুর
বেশি পাওয়ার আশায় উপকার করোনা।
And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of obedience to Allah as a favour to Him).
অলা- তাম্নুন্ তাস্তাক্ছিরু।
আর তোমার প্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে সবর অবলম্বন করো।
And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)!
অলিরব্বিকা ফার্ছ্বি।
যখন ফুৎকার দেয়া হবে শিংগায়,
Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. the second blowing of the horn).
ফাইযা-নুক্বির ফিন্না-কুরি।
সেদিনটি হবে এক কঠিন দিন।
Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day -
ফাযা-লিকা ইয়াওমায়িযিঁই ইয়াওমুন্ 'আসীরুন্।
সেটি সহজ হবেনা কাফিরদের জন্যে।
Far from easy for the disbelievers.
'আলাল্ কা-ফিরীনা গইরু ইয়ার্সী।
আমাকে ছেড়ে দাও আর যাকে আমি সৃষ্টি করেছি একাই।
Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created lonely (without any wealth or children etc, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)!
র্যানী অমান্ খলাকতু অহীদাঁও।
আমি তাকে দিয়েছি বিপুল মাল - সম্পদ।
And then granted him resources in abundance.
অজ্বা'আল্তু লাহূ মা-লাম্ মাম্দূদাঁও।
দিয়েছি সংগে উপস্থিত থাকা পুত্রদের।
And children to be by his side.
অবানীনা শুহূদাঁও
সরবরাহ করেছি স্বচ্ছন্দ জীবনের প্রচুর উপকরণ।
And made life smooth and comfortable for him.
অমাহ্হাত্তু লাহূ তাম্হীদান্।
তারপরেও সে লোভ করে আমি যেনো তাকে আরো বেশি করে দেই।
After all that he desires that I should give more;
ছুম্মা ইয়াতমা'ঊ আন্ আযীদা
কখনো নয়, সে তো আমাদের আয়াতের উগ্র বিরোধিতাকারী।
Nay! Verily, he has been opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations).
কাল্লা- ইন্নাহূ কা-না লিআ-ইয়া-তিনা- 'আনীদা-।
অচিরেই আমি তাকে চড়াবো এক কঠিন স্থানে (জাহান্নামের পাহাড়ে)।
I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or) face a severe torment!
সার্উহিকুহূ ছোয়া'ঊদা-।
সে চিন্তা করেছে এবং একটা চক্রান্তের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে।
Verily, he thought and plotted.
ইন্নাহূ ফাক্কার অক্বদ্দার।
সে ধ্বংস হোক, কী করে সে এ সিদ্ধান্ত নিলো?
So let him be cursed: how he plotted!
ফাকুতিলা কাইফা ক্বার্দ্দা।
সে আবারো ধ্বংস হোক, কী করে নিলো সে এ সিদ্ধান্ত!
And once more let him be cursed: how he plotted!
ছুম্মা কুতিলা কাইফা ক্বার্দ্দা।
সে নজর করে দেখেছে।
Then he thought.
ছুম্মা নাজোর্য়া
তারপর ভ্রুকুঞ্চিত করে মুখ বিকৃত করেছে।
Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way;
ছুম্মা 'আবাসা ওয়াবাসার।
তারপর পেছনে গিয়ে দাম্ভিকতা প্রকাশ করেছে।
Then he turned back, and was proud.
ছুম্মা আদ্বার ওয়াস্তার্ক্বা।
সে বলেছে: ‘‘এ তো সমাজে চলে আসা প্রচলিত ম্যাজিক ছাড়া আর কিছু নয়।
Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old,
ফাক্ব-লা ইন্ হা-যা য় ইল্লা-সিহরুঁই ইয়ু”র্ছা।
এতো মানুষের কথা ছাড়া অন্য কিছু নয়।’’
"This is nothing but the word of a human being!"
ইন্ হা-যা য় ইল্লা-ক্বওলুল্ বার্শা।
অচিরেই আমি তাকে নিক্ষেপ করবো সাকারে।
I will cast him into Hell-fire.
সাউছ্লীহি সার্ক্বা।
কিভাবে জানবে তুমি - সাকার কী?
And what will make you know (exactly) what Hell-fire is?
অমা য় আদ্র-কা মা-সার্ক্বা।
(সেটা এমন জিনিস) যা বাকিও রাখেনা, ছেড়েও দেয়না।
It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)!
লা তুব্ক্বী অলা -তার্যা।
সেটা মানুষের (গায়ের চামড়া) দগ্ধকারী।
Burning and blackening the skins!
লাওয়্যা-হাতুল্লিল্বার্শা।
সেটার তত্ত্বাবধানে আছে ঊনিশজন (ফেরেশতা)।
Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell).
'আলাইহা- তিস্'আতা আ'র্শা
আমরা জাহান্নামের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক নিযুক্ত করেছি ফেরেশতাদের। আমরা কাফিরদের পরীক্ষার জন্যেই তাদের এই সংখ্যা উল্লেখ করেছি, যাতে করে ইতোপূর্বে যাদের কিতাব দেয়া হয়েছে তাদের একীন জন্মে এবং যেনো ঈমানদারদের ঈমান বেড়ে যায় আর কিতাবীরা এবং মুমিনরা যেনো সন্দেহে না পড়ে। আর যাদের মনে রোগ (মুনাফিকি) আছে তারা এবং কাফিররা যেনো বলে: ‘ এই কথার মাধ্যমে কী বুঝাতে চেয়েছেন?’ এভাবেই যাকে চান বিপথগামী করেন এবং যাকে চান সঠিক পথ দেখান। তোমার প্রভুর বাহিনী সম্পর্কে একমাত্র তিনি ছাড়া কেউই জানেনা। জাহান্নামের এই তথ্য মানুষের জন্যে একটি সতর্কবাণী।
And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire. And We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Qur'an is the truth as it agrees with their Books regarding the number (19) which is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and that the believers may increase in Faith (as this Qur'an is the truth), and that no doubt may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example ?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind.
অমা-জ্বা'আল্না য় আছ্হা-বান্না-রি ইল্লা-মালা-য়িকাতাঁও অমা-জ্বা'আল্না-ই'দ্দাতাহুম্ ইল্লা-ফিত্নাতাল্ লিল্লাযীনা কাফারূ লিইয়াস্ তাইক্বিনা ল্লাযীনা ঊতুল্ কিতা-বা অইয়ায্দা-দাল্ লাযীনা আ-মানূ য় ঈমা-নাঁও অলা-ইর্য়াতা-বাল্ লাযীনা ঊতুল্ কিতা-বা অল্ মু”মিনূনা অলিইয়াকুলাল্ লাযীনা ফী কুলূ বিহিম্ মারদ্বুঁও অল্ কা-ফিরূনা মা-যা য় আরদাল্লা-হু বিহা-যা-মাছালা- কাযা-লিকা ইয়ুদ্বিল্লুল্লা-হু মাইঁ ইয়াশা-য়ু অইয়াহ্দী মাইঁ ইয়াশা-য়্ অমা-ইয়া'লামু জুনূদা রব্বিকা ইল্লা-হূঅ অমা-হিয়া ইল্লা- যিক্রা-লিল্বার্শা।
কখনো নয়, শপথ চাঁদের,
Nay! And by the moon
কাল্লা-অল্ক্বার্মা।
শপথ রাতের যখন তা পেছনে ফিরে (চলে) যায়,
And by the night when it withdraws.
অল্লাইলি ইয্ আর্দ্বা।
শপথ ভোর বেলার যখন তা আলোকিত হয়ে উঠে,
And by the dawn when it brightens.
অছ্ছুব্হি ইযা য় আর্স্ফা।
নিশ্চয়ই এ (জাহান্নাম) গুরুতর বিপদ সমূহের একটি,
Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest (signs).
ইন্নাহা- লাইহ্দাল্ কুর্বা।
মানুষের জন্যে সতর্ককারী।
A warning to mankind -
নাযীরল্লিল্বার্শা ।
তোমাদের মধ্যে যে এগিয়ে আসতে চায় কিংবা যে পিছিয়ে পড়তে চায় তার জন্যে।
To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by committing sins).
লিমান্ শা-য়া মিন্কুম্ আইঁ ইয়াতাক্বাদ্দামা আওইয়াতায়াখ্র্ ।
প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তি নিজের অর্জনের কাছে আবদ্ধ।
Every person is a pledge for what he has earned,
কুল্লু নাফ্সিম বিমা- কাসাবাত্ রহীনাহ্।
তবে ডান পাশের লোকেরা নয়।
Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism).
ইল্লা য় আছ্হাবাল্ ইয়ামীন্।
তারা থাকবে উদ্যানসমূহে, তারা প্রশ্ন করবে
In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another,
ফী জ্বান্না-ত্ ইয়াতাসা-য়ালূন্।
অপরাধীদের বিষয়ে:
About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers), (And they will say to them):
'আনিল্ মুজ্ব্রিমীনা।
‘কোন্ জিনিস তোমাদের নিক্ষেপ করেছে সাকারে?’
"What has caused you to enter Hell?"
মা-সালাকাকুম্ ফী সার্ক্ব।
তারা বলবে: ‘‘আমরা মুসল্লিদের মধ্যে ছিলাম না,
They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer the Salat (prayers),
ক্ব-লূ লাম্ নাকু মিনাল্ মুছোয়াল্লীন্।
আর আমরা মিসকিনদের (অভাবীদের) খাবার দিতামনা,
"Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor);
অলাম্ নাকু নুত'ইমুল্ মিসকীন্।
আমরা মিথ্যা রটনাকারীদের সাথে মিথ্যা রটনা করতাম,
"And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers.
অকুন্না-নাখূদু মা'আল্ খ-য়িদ্বীন্।
এবং আমরা প্রত্যাখ্যান করতাম প্রতিদান দিবসকে,
And we used to belie the Day of Recompense,
অকুন্না নুকায্যিবু বিইয়াওমিদ্দীন্।
আমাদের কাছে একীন (মৃত্যু) এসে পৌছা পর্যন্ত।’’
"Until there came to us (the death) that is certain."
হাত্তা য় আতা-নাল্ ইয়াক্বীন্।
অতএব শাফায়াতকারীদের শাফায়াত তাদের কোনো কাজে আসবেনা।
So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them.
ফামা-তান্ ফা'ঊহুম্ শাফা-'আতুশ্ শা-ফি'ঈন্।
তাদের কী হয়েছে, কেন তারা উপদেশ বাণী (কুরআন) থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিচ্ছে?
Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the polytheists, the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition?
ফামা- লাহুম্ 'আনিত্তায্কিরতি মু'রিদ্বীন্।
এরা যেনো পলায়নপর গাধার দল,
As if they were (frightened) wild donkeys.
কায়ান্নাহুম্ হুমুরুম্ মুস্তান্ফিরাহ্।
যারা দ্রুত পালাচ্ছে সিংহের সামনে থেকে।
Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey.
র্ফারাত্ মিন্ ক্বাস্ ওয়ারাহ্।
বরং তারা প্রত্যেকে চায়, তাকে একটি উন্মুক্ত সহিফা (বই) দেয়া হোক।
Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم has come with the truth from Allah, the Lord of the heavens and earth).
বাল্ ইয়ুরীদু কুল্লুম্ রিয়িম্ মিন্হুম্ আইঁ ইয়ু”তা-ছুহুফাম্ মুনাশ্শারহ্।
কখনো নয়, বরং তারা আখিরাতকেই ভয় পায়না।
Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment).
কাল্লা- বাল্ লা-ইয়াখ-ফূনাল্ আ-খিরাহ্।
না, তা হবার নয়। নিশ্চয়ই এ কুরআন এক উপদেশ বাণী।
Nay, verily, this (Qur'an) is an admonition,
কাল্লা য় ইন্নাহূ তায্কিরাহ্।
সুতরাং যার ইচ্ছা, সে এ থেকে উপদেশ গ্রহণ করুক।
So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)!
ফামান্ শা-য়া যাকারহ্।
তবে তারা আল্লাহর ইচ্ছা ছাড়া উপদেশ গ্রহণ করবেনা। একমাত্র তিনিই উপযুক্ত যাকে ভয় করা উচিত এবং একমাত্র তিনিই ক্ষমা করার অধিকারী।
And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (god) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins).
অমা-ইয়ায্কুরূনা ইল্লা য় আইঁ ইয়াশা-য়াল্লা-হ্ হুওয়া আহ্লুত্ তাক্ব্ওয়া অআহ্লুল্ মাগ্ফিরহ্।
