আবাসা (সে বিরক্তি প্রকাশ করলো)

1 In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.

1 He frowned and turned (his) back,

2 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).

2 Because there came to him the blind man.

3 And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?

3 And what would make you know that he would purify himself,

4 Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?

4 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?

5 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,

5 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),

6 To him you attend;

6 To him do you address yourself.

7 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).

7 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself

8 But as to him who came to you running,

8 And as to him who comes to you striving hard,

9 And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).

9 And he fears,

10 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,

10 From him will you divert yourself.

11 Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.

11 Nay! surely it is an admonishment.

12 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.

12 So let him who pleases mind it.

13 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),

13 In honored books,

14 Exalted (in dignity), purified,

14 Exalted, purified,

15 In the hands of scribes (angels).

15 In the hands of scribes

16 Honourable and obedient.

16 Noble, virtuous.

17 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!

17 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!

18 From what thing did He create him?

19 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.

19 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,

20 Then He makes the Path easy for him.

20 Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)

21 Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.

21 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,

22 Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).

22 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.

23 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.

23 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.

24 Then let man look at his food:

25 We pour forth water in abundance.

25 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,

26 And We split the earth in clefts.

26 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,

27 And We cause therein the grain to grow,

28 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),

29 And olives and date-palms,

30 And gardens dense with many trees,

30 And thick gardens,

31 And fruits and herbage

32 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.

33 Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)

33 But when the deafening cry comes,

34 That Day shall a man flee from his brother,

34 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,

35 And from his mother and his father,

35 And his mother and his father,

36 And from his wife and his children.

36 And his spouse and his son - -

37 Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.

37 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.

38 Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),

38 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright,

39 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).

39 Laughing, joyous.

40 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.

40 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,

41 Darkness will cover them.

41 Darkness shall cover them.

42 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).

42 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.
