Chapter 26, 227 verses
তোয়া সিন মিম।
Ta. Sin. Mim.
তা - সীন - মীম।
Ta, Seen, Meem.
এগুলো সুস্পষ্ট কিতাবের আয়াত।
These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.
এইগুলি সুস্পষ্ট কিতাবের আয়াত।
These are the verses of the clear Book.
তারা হচ্ছে না বলে তুমি হয়তো মনের দুঃখে নিজেকেই ধ্বংসের দিকে ঠেলে দেবে।
It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.
উহারা হইতেছে না বলিয়া তুমি হয়ত মনোকষ্টে আত্মবিনাশী হইয়া পড়িবে।
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
আমরা চাইলে আসমান থেকে তাদের জন্যে একটি নিদর্শন নাযিল করতাম, তখন সেটার প্রতি তাদের গর্দান নুইয়ে পড়তো।
If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
আমি ইচ্ছা করিলে আকাশ হইতে উহাদের নিকট এক নিদর্শন প্রেরণ করিতাম, ফলে উহাদের গ্রীবা বিনত হইয়া পড়িত উহার প্রতি।
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
যখনই তাদের কাছে রহমানের পক্ষ থেকে নতুন কোনো যিকির (উপদেশ বার্তা) আসে, তারা তা থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়।
But there comes not to them a newly - revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.
যখনই উহাদের কাছে দয়াময়ের নিকট হইতে কোন নূতন উপদেশ আসে, তখনই উহারা উহা হইতে মুখ ফিরাইয়া নেয়।
And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
তারা তো অস্বীকার করেছে। সুতরাং তারা যা নিয়ে বিদ্রূপ করছে তার প্রকৃত খবর তাদের কাছে অচিরেই এসে পড়বে।
They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!
উহারা তো অস্বীকার করিয়াছে। সুতরাং উহারা যাহা লইয়া ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রপ করিত তাহার প্রকৃত বার্তা তাহাদের নিকট শীঘ্রই আসিয়া পড়িবে।
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
তারা কি জমিনের দিকে তাকিয়ে দেখেনা? আমরা তাতে সব ধরনের কতো যে উত্তম উদ্ভিদ উৎপন্ন করেছি!
Do they not look at the earth, - how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?
উহারা কি যমীনের দিকে লক্ষ্য করে না? আমি উহাতে প্রত্যেক প্রকারের কত উৎকৃষ্ট উদ্ভিদ উদ্গত করিয়াছি।
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
অবশ্যি এতে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন, কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই নয়।
Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
নিশ্চয় ইহাতে আছে নিদর্শন, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
নিশ্চয়ই তোমার প্রভু মহাপরাক্রমশালী, পরম দরয়াবান।
And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
নিশ্চয় তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
স্মরণ করো, তোমার প্রভু মূসাকে ডেকে বলেছিলেন, তুমি যালিম কওমের কাছে যাও,
Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity, -
স্মরণ কর, যখন তোমার প্রতিপালক মূসাকে ডাকিয়া বলিলেন, ‘তুমি সম্প্রদায়ের নিকট যাও,
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
ফেরাউনের কওমের কাছে। তাদের বলো: ‘তারা কি সতর্ক হবেনা?’
"The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"
‘ফির‘আওনের সম্প্রদায়ের নিকট; উহারা কি ভয় করে না?’
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"
তখন মূসা বললো: ‘‘আমার প্রভু! আমার আশংকা হয়, তারা আমাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করবে।
He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:
তখন সে বলিয়াছিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক ! আমি আশংকা করি যে, উহারা আমাকে অস্বীকার করিবে,
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
আমার মন ছোট হয়ে আসছে আর আমার যবানও সঞ্চালিত হচ্ছে না, সুতরাং তুমি হারূণকে রিসালাত দান করো।
"My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.
‘এবং আমার হৃদয় সংকুচিত হইয়া পড়িতেছে, আর আমার জিহ্বা তো সাবলীল নাই ! সুতরাং হারূনের প্রতিও প্রত্যাদেশ পাঠাও।
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
আমার বিরুদ্ধে তাদের একটা অভিযোগও আছে, তাই আমি আশংকা করছি তারা আমাকে হত্যা করবে।’’
"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."
‘আমার বিরুদ্ধে তো উহাদের এক অভিযোগ আছে, আমি আশংকা করি উহারা আমাকে হত্যা করিবে।’
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
বললেন: ‘কখনো নয়। সুতরাং তোমরা দু’জনই যাও আমাদের নিদর্শনসমূহ নিয়ে, আমরাও তোমাদের সাথে থাকবো, সব শুনবো।’
Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).
বলিলেন, ‘না, কখনই নহে, অতএব তোমরা উভয়ে আমার নিদর্শনসহ যাও, আমি তো তোমাদের সঙ্গে আছি, শ্রবণকারী।
[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
তোমরা ফেরাউনের কাছে যাও, তাকে বলো: ‘‘আমরা রাব্বুল আলামিনের রসূল।
"So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;
‘অতএব তোমরা উভয়ে ফির‘আওনের নিকট যাও এবং বল, ‘আমরা তো জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের রাসূল,
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
তুমি বনি ইসরাঈলকে আমাদের সাথে যেতে দাও।’’
"'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"
‘আমাদের সঙ্গে যাইতে দাও বনী ইসরাঈলকে।’
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘‘আমরা কি শৈশবে তোমাকে আমাদের মধ্যে লালন পালন করিনি? তুমি তো তোমার জীবনের অনেক বছর আমাদের মধ্যে কাটিয়েছো।
(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘আমরা কি তোমাকে শৈশবে আমাদের মধ্যে লালন - পালন করি নাই? আর তুমি তো তোমার জীবনের বহু বৎসর আমাদের মধ্যে কাটাইয়াছ,
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
আর তুমি তোমার একটা কর্ম করেছিলে। তুমি এক অকৃতজ্ঞ।’’
"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"
‘এবং তুমি তোমার কর্ম যাহা করিবার তাহা তো করিয়াছ ; তুমি অকৃতজ্ঞ।’
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
মূসা বললো: ‘‘আমি তো সে কাজটি করেছিলাম তখন, যখন আমি ছিলাম জ্ঞানহীন।
Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.
মূসা বলিল, ‘আমি তো ইহা করিয়াছিলাম তখন, যখন ছিলাম অনবধান।
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
তখন তো আমি তোমাদের ভয়ে পালিয়ে চলে গিয়েছিলাম। তারপর আমার প্রভু আমাকে জ্ঞান ও প্রজ্ঞা দান করেন এবং আমাকে রসূলদের একজন মনোনীত করেন।
"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.
‘অতঃপর আমি যখন তোমাদের ভয়ে ভীত হইলাম তখন আমি তোমাদের নিকট হইতে পলাইয়া গিয়াছিলাম। তৎপর আমার প্রতিপালক আমাকে জ্ঞান দান করিয়াছেন এবং আমাকে রাসূল করিয়াছেন।
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
আমার প্রতি তোমার যে অনুগ্রহের কথা উল্লেখ করেছো, তার কারণ তো হলো, তুমি বনি ইসরাঈলকে দাসে পরিণত করে রেখেছো।’’
"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me, - that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"
‘আমার প্রতি তোমার যে অনুগ্রহের কথা উল্লেখ করিতেছ, তাহা তো এই যে, তুমি বনী ইসরাঈলকে দাসে পরিণত করিয়াছ।’
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘রাব্বুল আলামিন কে?’
Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক আবার কী?’
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
মূসা বললো: ‘তিনি হলেন মালিক মহাকাশ ও পৃথিবীর এবং এ দুয়ের মাঝখানে যা কিছু আছে সবকিছুর যদি তোমরা একীন রাখো।’
(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between, - if ye want to be quite sure."
মূসা বলিল, ‘তিনি আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী এবং উহাদের মধ্যবর্তী সমস্ত কিছুর প্রতিপালক, যদি তোমরা নিশ্চিত হও।’
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
ফেরাউন তার পারিষদবর্গকে লক্ষ্য করে বললো: ‘(মূসা কী বলছে) তোমরা কি শুনছো না?’
(Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"
ফির‘আওন তাহার পারিষদবর্গকে লক্ষ্য করিয়া বলিল, ‘তোমরা শুনিতেছ তো !’
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
মূসা বললো: ‘তিনি তোমাদেরও রব এবং তোমাদের পূর্ব পুরুষদেরও রব।’
(Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"
মূসা বলিল, ‘তিনি তোমাদের প্রতিপালক এবং তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষগণেরও প্রতিপালক।’
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘তোমাদের প্রতি প্রেরিত তোমাদের এই রসূল তো একজন পাগল।’
(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘তোমাদের প্রতি প্রেরিত তোমাদের রাসূল তো নিশ্চয়ই পাগল।’
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
মূসা বললো: ‘তিনি মাশরিক, মাগরিব এবং এই উভয়ের মাঝখানে যা কিছু আছে, সবকিছুর রব যদি তোমরা আকল রাখো।’
(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"
মূসা বলিল, ‘তিনি পূর্ব ও পশ্চিমের এবং উহাদের মধ্যবর্তী সমস্ত কিছুর প্রতিপালক; যদি তোমরা বুঝিতে !’
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘তুমি যদি আমাকে ছাড়া আর কাউকেও হিসেবে গ্রহণ করো, তাহলে অবশ্যি আমি তোমাকে কারাগারে অবরুদ্ধ করে রাখবো।’
(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘তুমি যদি আমার পরিবর্তে অন্যকে ইলাহ্রূপে গ্রহণ কর আমি তোমাকে অবশ্যই কারারুদ্ধ করিব।’
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
মূসা বললো: ‘আমি যদি তোমার কাছে সুস্পষ্ট নির্দশন হাজির করি, তবু?’
(Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"
মূসা বলিল, ‘আমি যদি তোমার নিকট কোন স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন আনয়ন করি, তবুও?’
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘তবে হাজির করো যদি সত্যবাদী হও।’
(Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘তুমি যদি সত্যবাদী হও তবে উহা উপস্থিত কর।’
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
তখন মূসা তার লাঠি নিক্ষেপ করলো আর সাথে সাথে তা সুস্পষ্ট অজগরে পরিণত হয়ে গেলো।
So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!
অতঃপর মূসা তাহার লাঠি নিক্ষেপ করিলে তৎক্ষণাৎ উহা এক সাক্ষাৎ অজগর হইল।
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
এরপর (মূসা তার বগলে হাত ঢুকিয়ে) হাত বের করে আনলো, সাথে সাথে তা দর্শকদের দৃষ্টিতে ধবধবে সাদা দেখাতে লাগলো।
And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
এবং মূসা হাত বাহির করিল আর তৎক্ষণাৎ উহা দর্শকদের দৃষ্টিতে শুভ্র উজ্জ্বল প্রতিভাত হইল।
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
ফেরাউন তাকে পরিবেষ্টন করে থাকা তার পারিষদবর্গকে বললো: ‘এ - তো এক পন্ডিত ম্যাজেসিয়ান।
(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well - versed:
ফির‘আওন তাহার পারিষদবর্গকে বলিল, ‘এ তো এক সুদক্ষ জাদুকর !
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
সে তার ম্যাজিকের সাহায্যে তোমাদেরকে তোমাদের দেশ থেকে বের করে দিতে চায়। এখন তোমরা তার ব্যাপারে কী করতে বলো?’
"His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?"
‘এ তোমাদেরকে তোমাদের দেশ হইতে তাহার জাদুবলে বহিষ্কার করিতে চায়। এখন তোমরা কী করিতে বল?’
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
তারা বললো: ‘তাকে আর তার ভাইকে কিছু অবকাশ দিন এবং বিভিন্ন শহরে সংগ্রহকারীদের পাঠান।
They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect -
উহারা বলিল, ‘তাহাকে ও তাহার ভ্রাতাকে কিছু অবকাশ দাও এবং নগরে নগরে সংগ্রাহকদেরকে পাঠাও,
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
তারা আপনার জন্যে দক্ষ ম্যাজেসিয়ানদের হাজির করবে।’
"And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well - versed."
‘যেন তাহারা তোমার নিকট প্রতিটি অভিজ্ঞ জাদুকর উপস্থিত করে।’
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
তারপর নির্দিষ্ট দিনে এবং নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে ম্যাজেসিয়ানদের জমা করা হলো,
So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well - known,
অতঃপর এক নির্ধারিত দিনে নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে জাদুকরদেরকে একত্র করা হইল,
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well - known day.
জনগণকে বলা হলো: ‘তোমরাও কি জমায়েত হচ্ছো?’
And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled? -
এবং লোকদেরকে বলা হইল, ‘তোমরাও সমবেত হইতেছ কি?
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
‘হয়তো আমরা ম্যাজেসিয়ানদের অনুসরণ করতে পারি যদি তারা বিজয়ী হয়।’
"That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"
যেন আমরা জাদুকরদের অনুসরণ করিতে পারি, যদি উহারা বিজয়ী হয়।’
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
ম্যাজেসিয়ানরা হাজির হলে তারা ফেরাউনকে বললো: ‘আমরা জয়ী হলে আমাদের জন্যে পুরস্কার থাকবে তো?’
So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win?
অতঃপর জাদুকরেরা আসিয়া ফিরা‘আওনকে বলিল, ‘আমরা যদি বিজয়ী হই আমাদের জন্য পুরস্কার থাকিবে তো?
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘হ্যাঁ, তাছাড়া তোমরা আমার সভাসদদের অন্তরভুক্ত হবে।’
He said: "Yea, (and more), - for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)."
ফিরা‘আওন বলিল, ‘হ্যাঁ, তখন তোমরা অবশ্যই আমার ঘনিষ্ঠদের শামিল হইবে।’
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
মূসা তাদের বললো: ‘তোমরা যা নিক্ষেপ করার নিক্ষেপ করো।’
Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"
মূসা উহাদেরকে বলিল, ‘তোমাদের যাহা নিক্ষেপ করিবার তাহা নিক্ষেপ কর।’
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
তারা তাদের সব রশি এবং লাঠি নিক্ষেপ করলো। তারা বললো: ‘ফেরাউনের ইযযতের কসম, আমরাই জয়ী হবো।’
So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"
অতঃপর উহারা উহাদের রজ্জু ও লাঠি নিক্ষেপ করিল এবং উহারা বলিল, ‘ফির‘আওনের ইয্যতের শপথ! আমরাই বিজয়ী হইব।’
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
অত:পর মূসা তার লাঠি নিক্ষেপ করলো। সাথে সাথে সেটি কৃত্রিম সৃষ্টিগুলোকে গ্রাস করতে থাকলো।
Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!
অতঃপর মূসা তাহার লাঠি নিক্ষেপ করিল, সহসা উহা উহাদের অলীক সৃষ্টিগুলিকে গ্রাস করিতে লাগিল।
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
তখন ম্যাজেসিয়ানরা সাজদায় আনত হয়ে পড়লো।
Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,
তখন জাদুকরেরা সিজ্দাবনত হইয়া পড়িল।
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah].
তারা বললো: ‘আমরা ঈমান আনলাম রাব্বুল আলামিনের প্রতি,
Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,
এবং বলিল, ‘আমরা ঈমান আনয়ন করিলাম জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের প্রতি -
They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
যিনি হারূণ এবং মূসারও রব।’
"The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
‘যিনি মূসা ও হারূনেরও প্রতিপালক।’
The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
ফেরাউন বললো: ‘আমি তোমাদের অনুমতি দেয়ার আগেই তোমরা তার প্রতি ঈমান আনলে? নিশ্চয়ই সে তোমাদের প্রধান, সে - ই তোমাদের ম্যাজিক শিখিয়েছে, অচিরেই তোমরা জানতে পারবে (এর পরিণতি)। আমি অবশ্যি বিপরীত দিক থেকে তোমাদের হাত পা কেটে দেবো এবং তোমাদের সবাইকে শূলবিদ্ধ করে ছাড়বো।’
Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"
ফির‘আওন বলিল, ‘কী ! আমি তোমাদেরকে অনুমতি দেওয়ার পূর্বেই তোমরা উহাতে বিশ্বাস করিলে? সে - ই তো তোমাদের প্রধান যে তোমাদেরকে জাদু শিক্ষা দিয়াছে। শীঘ্রই তোমরা ইহার পরিণাম জানিবে। আমি অবশ্যই তোমাদের হাত এবং তোমাদের পা বিপরীত দিক হইতে কর্তন করিব এবং তোমাদের সকলকে শূলবিদ্ধ করিবই।’
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
তারা বললো: ‘‘ক্ষতি নেই, আমরা আমাদের প্রভুর কাছে ফিরে যাবো।
They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!
উহারা বলিল, ‘কোন ক্ষতি নাই, আমরা আমাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকটই প্রত্যাবর্তন করিব।
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
আমরা আকাঙ্ক্ষা করি, আমাদের প্রভু আমাদের গুনাহ্ খাতা ক্ষমা করে দেবেন, কারণ আমরা সবার আগে হয়েছি।’’
"Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"
‘আমরা তো আশা করি, আমাদের প্রতিপালক আমাদের অপরাধ মার্জনা করিবেন, কারণ আমরা মু’মিনদের মধ্যে অগ্রণী।’
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
আমরা মূসার প্রতি অহি করে নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলাম: আমার দাসদের নিয়ে রাতের বেলায় বেরিয়ে পড়ো, তোমাদের কিন্তু পিছে থেকে ধাওয়া করা হবে।
By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued."
আমি মূসার প্রতি ওহী করিয়াছিলাম এই মর্মে : ‘আমার বান্দাদেরকে লইয়া রাত্রিকালে বাহির হও, তোমাদের তো পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করা হইবে।’
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
তারপর ফেরাউন শহরে শহরে লোক সংগ্রহকারী পাঠিয়ে দিলো,
Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,
অতঃপর ফির‘আওন শহরে শহরে লোক সংগ্রহকারী পাঠাইল,
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
এই বলে যে, এরা তো অল্প কিছু লোক,
(Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,
এই বলিয়া, ‘ইহারা তো ক্ষুদ্র একটি দল
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
এবং তারা আমাদের ক্রোধ উদ্রেককারী।
"And they are raging furiously against us;
এবং ‘উহারা তো আমাদের ক্রোধ উদ্রেক করিয়াছে ;
And indeed, they are enraging us,
আর আমরা সবাই তো সদা সতর্ক।
"But we are a multitude amply fore - warned."
এবং আমরা তো সকলেই সদাশংকিত।’
And indeed, we are a cautious society... "
অত:পর আমরা তাদের (ফেরাউন এবং তার দলবলকে) বের করে এনেছি তাদের মনোরম উদ্যান আর ঝরণাধারাসমূহ থেকে,
So We expelled them from gardens, springs,
পরিণামে আমি ফির‘আওন গোষ্ঠীকে বহিষ্কার করিলাম উহাদের উদ্যানরাজি ও প্রস্রবণ হইতে
So We removed them from gardens and springs
ধন - ভান্ডারসমূহ এবং বিলাসবহুল প্রাসাদসমূহ থেকে।
Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;
এবং ধনভাণ্ডার ও সুরম্য সৌধমালা হইতে।
And treasures and honorable station -
তাদের সাথে এমনটিই ঘটেছিল। অপরদিকে বনি ইসরাঈলকে আমরা সবকিছুর ওয়ারিশ বানিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম।
Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.
এইরূপই ঘটিয়াছিল এবং বনী ইসরাঈলকে করিয়াছিলাম এই সমুদয়ের অধিকারী।
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
তারা সূর্যোদয়ের সময় তাদের পেছনে এসে পড়েছিল।
So they pursued them at sunrise.
উহারা সূর্যোদয়কালে তাহাদের পশ্চাতে আসিয়া পড়িল।
So they pursued them at sunrise.
তারপর দুইদল যখন একে অপরকে দেখলো, মূসার সাথিরা বলে উঠলো: ‘নিশ্চয়ই আমরা ধরা পড়ে যাচ্ছি।’
And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."
অতঃপর যখন দুই দল পরস্পরকে দেখিল, তখন মূসার সঙ্গীরা বলিল, ‘আমরা তো ধরা পড়িয়া গেলাম।’
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"
মূসা বললো: ‘না, কখনো নয়, নিশ্চয়ই আমার সাথে আমার প্রভু রয়েছেন, তিনি আমাকে পথ দেখাবেন।’
(Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"
মূসা বলিল, ‘কখনই নহে ! আমার সঙ্গে আছেন আমার প্রতিপালক ; সত্বর তিনি আমাকে পথনির্দেশ করিবেন।’
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
তখন আমরা অহির মাধ্যমে মূসাকে নির্দেশ দিলাম: ‘তোমার লাঠি দিয়ে সমুদ্রে আঘাত করো।’ সাথে সাথে তা বিভক্ত হয়ে গেলো এবং প্রত্যেক ভাগ বড় পর্বতের মতো হয়ে গেলো।
Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain.
অতঃপর মূসার প্রতি ওহী করিলাম, ‘তোমার যষ্টি দ্বারা সমুদ্রে আঘাত কর।’ ফলে উহা বিভক্ত হইয়া প্রত্যেক ভাগ বিশাল পর্বতসদৃশ হইয়া গেল ;
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
তারপর আমরা সেখানে এনে হাজির করলাম পরের দলটিকে।
And We made the other party approach thither.
আমি সেখানে উপনীত করিলাম অপর দলটিকে,
And We advanced thereto the pursuers.
আমরা মূসা আর তার সাথিদের সবাইকে উদ্ধার করলাম,
We delivered Moses and all who were with him;
এবং আমি উদ্ধার করিলাম মূসা ও তাহার সঙ্গী সকলকে,
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
তারপর ডুবিয়ে মারলাম পরবর্তীদের।
But We drowned the others.
তৎপর নিমজ্জিত করিলাম অপর দলটিকে।
Then We drowned the others.
নিশ্চয়ই এর মধ্যে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন, তবে তাদের অধিকাংশই নয়।
Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
ইহাতে অবশ্যই নিদর্শন রহিয়াছে, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
আর তোমার প্রভু অবশ্যি মহাপরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
তাদের প্রতি ইবরাহিমের সংবাদ তিলাওয়াত করো।
And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story.
উহাদের নিকট ইব্রাহীমের বৃত্তান্ত বর্ণনা কর।
And recite to them the news of Abraham,
যখন সে তার বাপ ও কওমকে বলেছিল: ‘তোমরা কোন্ জিনিসের ইবাদত করছো?’
Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?"
সে যখন তাহার পিতা ও তাহার সম্প্রদায়কে বলিয়াছিল, ‘তোমরা কিসের ‘ইবাদত কর?’
When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
তারা বলেছিল: ‘আমরা ভাস্কর্যদের (মূর্তি দেবতাদের) পূজা করি এবং আমরা নিষ্ঠার সাথে তাদের প্রতি নত হই।’
They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them."
উহারা বলিল, ‘আমরা মূর্তির পূজা করি এবং আমরা নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে উহাদের পূজায় নিরত থাকিব।’
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
ইবরাহিম বললো: ‘‘তোমরা দোয়া করলে তারা কি তোমাদের দোয়া শুনে?
He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"
সে বলিল, ‘তোমরা প্রার্থনা করিলে উহারা কি শুনে?’
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
তারা কি তোমাদের উপকার কিংবা ক্ষতি করতে পারে?’’
"Or do you good or harm?"
‘অথবা উহারা কি তোমাদের উপকার কিংবা অপকার করিতে পারে?’
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
তারা বললো: ‘না, তবে আমরা আমাদের পূর্ব পুরুষদের এভাবে করতে দেখেছি।’
They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."
উহারা বলিল, ‘না, তবে আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে এইরূপই করিতে দেখিয়াছি।’
They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."
ইবরাহিম বললো: ‘‘তোমরা কিসের পূজা উপাসনা করছো তা কি ভেবে দেখছোনা?
He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping, -
সে বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি ভাবিয়া দেখিয়াছ, কিসের পূজা করিতেছ,
He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
তোমরা এবং তোমাদের অতীত বাপ দাদারা?
"Ye and your fathers before you? -
‘তোমরা এবং তোমাদের অতীত পিতৃপুরুষেরা?
You and your ancient forefathers?
তারা সবাই আমার দুশমন, রাব্বুল আলামিন ছাড়া।
"For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds;
‘উহারা সকলেই আমার শত্রু, জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক ব্যতীত;
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,
কারণ, তিনি আমাকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং তিনিই আমাকে সঠিক পথে পরিচালিত করেন।
"Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;
‘যিনি আমাকে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন, তিনিই আমাকে পথ প্রদর্শন করেন।
Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.
তিনি আমাকে খাওয়ান, পান করান।
"Who gives me food and drink,
‘তিনিই আমাকে দান করেন আহার্য ও পানীয়।
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
আমি রোগগ্রস্ত হলে তিনিই আমাকে নিরাময় করে দেন।
"And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me;
‘এবং রোগাক্রান্ত হইলে তিনিই আমাকে রোগমুক্ত করেন ;
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me
তিনিই আমার মউত ঘটাবেন এবং পুনরায় হায়াত দেবেন।
"Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again);
‘এবং তিনিই আমার মৃত্যু ঘটাইবেন, অতঃপর পুনর্জীবিত করিবেন।
And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
তাঁর ব্যাপারে আমি আশা করি, তিনি আমাকে আমার গুনাহ খাতা ক্ষমা করে দেবেন প্রতিদান দিবসে।
"And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.
‘এবং আশা করি, তিনি কিয়ামত দিবসে আমার অপরাধ মার্জনা করিয়া দিবেন।
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
আমার প্রভু! আমাকে প্রজ্ঞা দান করো এবং মিলিত করো সালেহ্ লোকদের সাথে।
"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;
‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক ! আমাকে জ্ঞান দান কর এবং সৎকর্মপরায়ণদের শামিল কর।
[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
পরবর্তী লোকদের মধ্যে আমার সুখ্যাতি দান করো।
"Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations);
‘আমাকে পরবর্তীদের মধ্যে যশস্বী কর,
And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.
আমাকে জান্নাতুন নায়ীমের ওয়ারিশদের অন্তরভুক্ত করো।
"Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss;
‘এবং আমাকে সুখময় জান্নাতের অধিকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত কর,
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
আমার বাবাকে ক্ষমা করে দাও, কারণ তিনি গোমরাহদেরই একজন।
"Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray;
‘আর আমার পিতাকে ক্ষমা কর, তিনি তো পথভ্রষ্টদের শামিল ছিলেন।
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
পুনরুত্থান দিবসে তুমি আমাকে অপমাণিত করোনা,
"And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up; -
‘এবং আমাকে লাঞ্ছিত করিও না পুনরুত্থান দিবসে
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
যেদিন মাল সম্পদ এবং সন্তান - সন্ততি কোনো উপকারে আসবেনা,
"The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,
‘যেদিন ধন - সম্পদ ও সন্তান - সন্ততি কোন কাজে আসিবে না ;
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
তবে উপকার লাভ করবে সে, যে হাজির হবে শুদ্ধ শান্ত কলব নিয়ে।’’
"But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart;
‘সেদিন উপকৃত হইবে কেবল সে, যে র নিকট আসিবে বিশুদ্ধ অন্তঃকরণ লইয়া।’
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
সেদিন মুত্তাকিদের কাছেই নিয়ে আসা হবে জান্নাত।
"To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near,
মুত্তাকীদের নিকটবর্তী করা হইবে জান্নাত,
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
আর বিভ্রান্তদের জন্যে খুলে দেয়া হবে জাহান্নাম।
"And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view;
এবং পথভ্রষ্টদের জন্য উন্মোচিত করা হইবে জাহান্নাম ;
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
তাদের বলা হবে: ‘‘তারা এখন কোথায়, তোমরা যাদের ইবাদত (উপাসনা) করতে
"And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped -
উহাদেরকে বলা হইবে, ‘তাহারা কোথায়, তোমরা যাহাদের ‘ইবাদত করিতে -
And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে? তারা কি এখন তোমাদের সাহায্য করতে পারবে, নাকি তারা আত্মরক্ষা করতে পারবে?’’
"'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?'
‘র পরিবর্তে? উহারা কি তোমাদের সাহায্য করিতে পারে অথবা উহারা কি আত্মরক্ষা করিতে সক্ষম?
Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?"
তারপর তাদের এবং বিপথগামীদের জাহান্নামে নিক্ষেপ করা হবে মাথা নীচের দিকে দিয়ে।
"Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire), - they and those straying in Evil,
অতঃপর উহাদেরকে এবং পথভ্রষ্টদেরকে জাহান্নামে নিক্ষেপ করা হইবে অধোমুখী করিয়া,
So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators
এবং ইবলিস বাহিনীর সবাইকেও।
"And the whole hosts of Iblis together.
এবং ইব্লীসের বাহিনীর সকলকেও।
And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.
তারা সেখানে তর্কাতর্কি করে বলবে:
"They will say there in their mutual bickerings:
উহারা সেখানে বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হইয়া বলিবে,
They will say while they dispute therein,
আল্লাহর কসম, আমরা স্পষ্ট গোমরাহিতে লিপ্ত ছিলাম।
"'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest,
র শপথ ! আমরা তো স্পষ্ট বিভ্রান্তিতেই ছিলাম,
"By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
যখন আমরা তোমাদেরকে রাব্বুল আলামিনের বরাবর মনে করতাম।
"'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds;
‘যখন আমরা তোমাদেরকে জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের সমকক্ষ গণ্য করিতাম।
When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.
অপরাধীরাই আমাদের বিপথগামী করেছিল।
"'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt.
‘আমাদেরকে দুষ্কৃতিকারীরাই বিভ্রান্ত করিয়াছিল।
And no one misguided us except the criminals.
ফলে আজ আমাদের কোনো শাফায়াতকারী নেই,
"'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us),
‘পরিণামে আমাদের কোন সুপারিশকারী নাই।
So now we have no intercessors
এবং কোনো প্রাণের বন্ধুও নেই।
"'Nor a single friend to feel (for us).
‘এবং কোন সহৃদয় বন্ধুও নাই।
And not a devoted friend.
আমরা যদি একবার সুযোগ পেতাম ফিরে যাবার, তাহলে অবশ্যি হয়ে যেতাম।
"'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'"
‘হায়, যদি আমাদের একবার প্রত্যাবর্তনের সুযোগ ঘটিত, তাহা হইলে আমরা মু’মিনদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইয়া যাইতাম!
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "
এর মধ্যে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন, আর তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলনা।
Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe.
ইহাতে অবশ্যই নিদর্শন রহিয়াছে, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশ নহে।
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
নিশ্চয়ই তোমার প্রভু, তিনি মহাপরাক্রমশীল, অতীব দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
নূহের কওমও রসূলদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল।
The people of Noah rejected the messengers.
নূহের সম্প্রদায় রাসূলগণের প্রতি মিথ্যা আরোপ করিয়াছিল।
The people of Noah denied the messengers
স্মরণ করো, তাদের ভাই নূহ তাদের বলেছিল: ‘‘তোমরা কি সতর্ক হবেনা?
Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
যখন উহাদের ভ্রাতা নূহ্ উহাদেরকে বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি সাবধান হইবে না?
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
আমি তোমাদের প্রতি একজন বিশ্বস্ত রসূল।
"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:
‘আমি তো তোমাদের জন্য এক বিশ্বস্ত রাসূল।
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"So fear Allah, and obey me.
অতএব তােমরা কে ভয় কর এবং আমার আনুগত্য কর।
So fear Allah and obey me.
তোমাদের (সতর্ক করার) একাজ করার জন্যে আমি তোমাদের কাছে কোনো পারিশ্রমিক চাইনা। আমাকে প্রতিদান দেয়ার দায়িত্ব রাব্বুল আলামিনের।
"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds:
‘আমি তোমাদের নিকট ইহার জন্য কোন প্রতিদান চাহি না ; আমার পুরস্কার তো জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকটই আছে।
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।’’
"So fear Allah, and obey me."
‘সুতরাং তােমরা কে ভয় কর এবং আমার আনুগত্য কর।’
So fear Allah and obey me."
(জবাবে) তারা বলেছিল: ‘আমরা তোমার প্রতি ঈমান আনবো? তোমাকে অনুসরণ করে তো নিম্ন শ্রেণীর লোকেরা।’
They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?"
উহারা বলিল, ‘আমরা কি তোমার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করিব অথচ ইতরজনেরা তোমার অনুসরণ করিতেছে?’
They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"
নূহ বলেছিল: ‘‘তারা (আগে) কী করতো তা আমি জানিনা।
He said: "And what do I know as to what they do?
নূহ্ বলিল, ‘উহারা কী করিত তাহা আমার নাই।’
He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
তাদের হিসাব নেয়ার দায়িত্ব তো আল্লাহর, যদি তোমরা বুঝতে!
"Their account is only with my Lord, if ye could (but) understand.
উহাদের হিসাব গ্রহণ তো আমার প্রতিপালকেরই কাজ; যদি তোমরা বুঝিতে!
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
মুমিনদের আমার কাছ থেকে তাড়িয়ে দেয়া আমার কাজ নয়।
"I am not one to drive away those who believe.
‘মু’মিনদেরকে তাড়াইয়া দেওয়া আমার কাজ নহে।
And I am not one to drive away the believers.
আমি তো একজন স্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী ছাড়া আর কিছু নই।’’
"I am sent only to warn plainly in public."
‘আমি তো কেবল একজন স্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী।’
I am only a clear warner."
তখন তারা বলেছিল: ‘হে নূহ! তুমি যদি এ কাজ থেকে বিরত না হও, তাহলে পাথর নিক্ষেপ করে যাদের মারা হয়েছে তুমিও তাদের অন্তরভুক্ত হবে।’
They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)."
উহারা বলিল, ‘হে নূহ্ ! তুমি যদি নিবৃত্ত না হও তবে তুমি অবশ্যই প্রস্তরাঘাতে নিহতদের শামিল হইবে।’
They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."
নূহ ফরিয়াদ করে বললো: ‘‘আমার প্রভু! আমার কওম আমাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছে।
He said: "O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.
নূহ্ বলিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক ! আমার সম্প্রদায়ই তো আমাকে অস্বীকার করিতেছে।
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.
সুতরাং তুমি আমার ও তাদের মাঝে একটা চূড়ান্ত ফায়সালা করে দাও আর নাজাত দাও আমাকে এবং আমার সাথি মুমিনদের।’’
"Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me."
‘সুতরাং তুমি আমার ও উহাদের মধ্যে স্পষ্ট মীমাংসা করিয়া দাও এবং আমাকে ও আমার সঙ্গে যেসব আছে, তাহাদেরকে রক্ষা কর।’
Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."
তখন আমি তাকে এবং তার সাথিদেরকে নৌযানে বোঝাই করে রক্ষা করেছি,
So We delivered him and those with him, in the Ark filled (with all creatures).
অতঃপর আমি তাহাকে ও তাহার সঙ্গে যাহারা ছিল, তাহাদেরকে রক্ষা করিলাম বোঝাই নৌযানে।
So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
আর বাকি সবাইকে ডুবিয়ে দিয়েছি পানিতে।
Thereafter We drowned those who remained behind.
তৎপর অবশিষ্ট সকলকে নিমজ্জিত করিলাম।
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.
নিশ্চয়ই এতে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন। আর তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলনা।
Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
ইহাতে অবশ্যই রহিয়াছে নিদর্শন, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
আর তোমার প্রভু, নিশ্চয়ই তিনি মহাশক্তিধর, পরম দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
এবং তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
আদ জাতিও প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল রসূলদের।
The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers.
‘আদ সম্প্রদায় রাসূলগণকে অস্বীকার করিয়াছিল।
'Aad denied the messengers
স্মরণ করো, তাদের ভাই হুদ তাদের বলেছিল: ‘‘তোমরা কি সতর্ক হবেনা?
Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
যখন উহাদের ভ্রাতা হূদ উহাদেরকে বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি সাবধান হইবে না?
When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
আমি তোমাদের প্রতি একজন বিশ্বস্ত রসূল।
"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:
‘আমি তো তোমাদের জন্য এক বিশ্বস্ত রাসূল।
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"So fear Allah and obey me.
অতএব কে ভয় কর এবং আমার আনুগত্য কর।
So fear Allah and obey me.
আমি তো তোমাদের (সতর্ক করার) এ দায়িত্ব পালনের জন্যে তোমাদের কাছে কোনো পারিশ্রমিক চাইনা, আমাকে প্রতিদান দেয়ার দায়িত্ব রাব্বুল আলামিনের।
"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
‘আমি তোমাদের নিকট ইহার জন্য কোন প্রতিদান চাহি না, আমার পুরস্কার তো জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকট আছে।
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
তোমরা কেন প্রতিটি উঁচু স্থানে অনর্থক স্মৃতি স্তম্ভ নির্মাণ করছো?
"Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?
‘তোমরা কি প্রতিটি উচ্চ স্থানে স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ নির্মাণ করিতেছ নিরর্থক?
Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,
তোমরা এমন সব শৈল্পিক প্রাসাদ নির্মাণ করছো যেনো তোমরা এখানে চিরস্থায়ী হবে!
"And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)?
‘আর তোমরা প্রাসাদ নির্মাণ করিতেছ এই মনে করিয়া যে, তোমরা চিরস্থায়ী হইবে।
And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally?
যখন তোমরা ক্ষমতা পাও, তখন স্বৈরাচারি ক্ষমতা প্রয়োগ করো।
"And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power?
‘এবং যখন তোমরা আঘাত হান তখন আঘাত হানিয়া থাক কঠোরভাবে।
And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.
সুতরাং আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"Now fear Allah, and obey me.
অতএব তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং আমার অনুগত্য কর।
So fear Allah and obey me.
ভয় করো তাঁকে যিনি তোমাদের সব (উত্তম সামগ্রী) দিয়ে সাহায্য করেছেন যা তোমরা জানো।
"Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know.
‘ভয় কর তাঁহাকে যিনি তোমাদেরকে দান করিয়াছেন সেই সমুদয়, যাহা তোমরা জান।
And fear He who provided you with that which you know,
তিনি তোমাদের সাহায্য করেছেন পশু সম্পদ এবং সন্তান সন্ততি দিয়ে,
"Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons, -
‘তিনি তোমাদেরকে দান করিয়াছেন চতুষ্পদ জন্তু ও সন্তান - সন্ততি।
Provided you with grazing livestock and children
বাগ - বাগিচা এবং ঝরণাধারা দিয়ে।
"And Gardens and Springs.
‘উদ্যান ও প্রস্রবণ;
And gardens and springs.
আমি আশংকা করছি তোমাদের উপর আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে বড় কোনো আযাব এসে পড়ার।’’
"Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day."
‘আমি তো তোমাদের জন্য আশংকা করি মহাদিবসের শাস্তির।’
Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
তখন তারা বলেছিল: ‘‘তুমি আমাদের ওয়ায করো কিংবা না করো দুটোই সমান।
They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers!
উহারা বলিল, ‘তুমি উপদেশ দাও অথবা না - ই দাও, উভয়ই আমাদের জন্য সমান।
They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.
আগেকার লোকদের এটাই (ওয়ায করা বা উপদেশ দেয়াটাই) স্বভাব।
"This is no other than a customary device of the ancients,
ইহা তো পূর্ববর্তীদেরই স্বভাব।
This is not but the custom of the former peoples,
যাদের শাস্তি দেয়া হবে আমরা তাদের অন্তরভুক্ত নই।’’
"And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!"
‘আমরা শাস্তিপ্রাপ্তদের শামিল নই।’
And we are not to be punished."
এভাবে তারা তাকে (হুদকে) প্রত্যাখ্যান করে, ফলে আমরাও তাদের হালাক (ধ্বংস) করে দেই। নিশ্চয়ই এতে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন। আর তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলনা।
So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
অতঃপর উহারা তাহাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করিল এবং আমি উহাদেরকে ধ্বংস করিলাম। ইহাতে অবশ্যই আছে নিদর্শন ; কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
আর তোমার প্রভু, নিশ্চয়ই তিনি মহাশক্তিধর অতীব দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
এবং তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
সামুদ জাতিও রসূলদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল।
The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers.
সামূদ সম্প্রদায় রাসূলগণকে অস্বীকার করিয়াছিল।
Thamud denied the messengers
স্মরণ করো, তাদের ভাই সালেহ্ তাদের বলেছিল: ‘‘তোমরা কি সতর্ক হবেনা?
Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)?
যখন উহাদের ভ্রাতা সালিহ্ উহাদেরকে বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি সাবধান হইবে না?
When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
আমি তোমাদের জন্যে একজন বিশ্বস্ত রসূল।
"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.
‘আমি তো তোমাদের জন্য এক বিশ্বস্ত রাসূল।
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
অতএব তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"So fear Allah, and obey me.
‘অতএব তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং আমার অনুগত্য কর,
So fear Allah and obey me.
(তোমাদের সতর্ক করার) এ কাজের জন্যে আমি তোমাদের কাছে কোনো পারিশ্রমিক চাইনা। আমার প্রতিদানের দায়িত্ব রাব্বুল আলামিনের।
"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
‘আমি তোমাদের নিকট ইহার জন্য কোন প্রতিদান চাহি না, আমার পুরস্কার তো জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকটই আছে।
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
তোমরা এখানে যে হালে আছো, তোমাদের কি এ রকম নিরাপদ ছেড়ে দেয়া হবে?
"Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? -
‘তোমাদেরকে কি নিরাপদ অবস্থায় ছাড়িয়া রাখা হইবে, যাহা এইখানে আছে উহাতে -
Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
এসব বাগ - বাগিচা এবং ঝরণাধারার মধ্যে?
"Gardens and Springs,
‘উদ্যানে, প্রস্রবণে
Within gardens and springs
এসব (সবুজ) শস্যক্ষেত আর সুকোমল ছড়া বিশিষ্ট খেজুরের বাগানে?
"And corn - fields and date - palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)?
‘ও শস্যক্ষেত্রে এবং সুকোমল গুচ্ছবিশিষ্ট খর্জুর বাগানে?
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?
তোমরা তো দক্ষতার সাথে পাহাড় কেটে আবাস নির্মাণ করছো।
"And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill.
‘তোমরা তো নৈপুণ্যের সঙ্গে পাহাড় কাটিয়া গৃহ নির্মাণ করিতেছ।
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"But fear Allah and obey me;
‘তোমরা কে ভয় কর এবং আমার আনুগত্য কর।
So fear Allah and obey me.
সীমা লঙ্ঘনকারীদের হুকুম মতো চলোনা,
"And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant, -
‘এবং সীমালংঘনকারীদের আদেশ মান্য করিও না ;
And do not obey the order of the transgressors,
যারা দেশে ফাসাদ সৃষ্টি করে বেড়াচ্ছে এবং কোনো প্রকার সংশোধনের কাজ করছেনা।’’
"Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)."
‘যাহারা পৃথিবীতে অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করে, শান্তি স্থাপন করে না।’
Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."
(জবাবে) তারা বলেছিল: ‘‘তুমি তো একজন জাদুগ্রস্ত।
They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!
উহারা বলিল, ‘তুমি তো জাদুগ্রস্তদের অন্যতম।
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
তুমি তো আমাদের মতোই একজন মানুষ ছাড়া আর কিছু নও। তুমি সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাকলে (তোমার রসূল হবার) কোনো প্রমাণ হাজির করো।’’
"Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!"
‘তুমি তো আমাদের মত একজন মানুষ, কাজেই তুমি যদি সত্যবাদী হও তবে একটি নিদর্শন উপস্থিত কর।’
You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."
তখন সে বলেছিল: ‘‘(প্রমাণ হলো) এই উটনী। কুয়ার পানি পানে এর জন্যেও পালা থাকবে, তোমাদের জন্যেও পালা থাকবে নির্দিষ্ট দিনে।
He said: "Here is a she - camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed.
সালিহ্ বলিল, ‘এই একটি উষ্ট্রী, ইহার জন্য আছে পানি পানের পালা এবং তোমাদের জন্য আছে নির্ধারিত দিনে পানি পানের পালা ;
He said, "This is a she - camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.
এর ক্ষতি করার উদ্দেশ্যে তোমরা একে স্পর্শও করোনা, করলে তোমাদের পাকড়াও করবে এক মহাদিবসের আযাব।’’
"Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you."
‘এবং উহার কোন অনিষ্ট সাধন করিও না; করিলে মহাদিবসের শাস্তি তোমাদের উপর আপতিত হইবে।’
And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."
কিন্তু তারা সেটিকে হত্যা করলো। পরিণামে তারা হলো লাঞ্ছিত।
But they ham - strung her: then did they become full of regrets.
কিন্তু উহারা উহাকে বধ করিল, পরিণামে উহারা অনুতপ্ত হইল।
But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.
আর তাদের গ্রাস করলো আযাব। নিশ্চয়ই এতে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন, আর তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলনা।
But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
অতঃপর শাস্তি উহাদেরকে গ্রাস করিল। ইহাতে অবশ্যই রহিয়াছে নিদর্শন, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
নিশ্চয়ই তোমার প্রভু, তিনি মহাশক্তিধর, অতীব দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
লুতের কওমও রসূলদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল।
The people of Lut rejected the messengers.
লূতের সম্প্রদায় রাসূলগণকে অস্বীকার করিয়াছিল,
The people of Lot denied the messengers
স্মরণ করো, তাদের ভাই লুত তাদের বলেছিল: ‘‘তোমরা কি সতর্ক হবেনা?
Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
যখন উহাদের ভ্রাতা লূত উহাদেরকে বলিল, তোমারা কি সাবধান হইবে না?
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
আমি তোমাদের প্রতি একজন বিশ্বস্ত রসূল।
"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.
‘আমি তো তোমাদের জন্য এক বিশ্বস্ত রাসূল।
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"So fear Allah and obey me.
সুতরাং তােমরা কে ভয় কর এবং আমার আনুগত্য কর।
So fear Allah and obey me.
(তোমাদের সতর্ক করার) এ দায়িত্ব পালনের জন্যে আমি তোমাদের কাছে কোনো পারিশ্রমিক চাইনা। আমার প্রতিদানের দায়িত্ব রাব্বুল আলামিনের।
"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds.
‘আমি ইহার জন্য তোমাদের নিকট কোন প্রতিদান চাহি না, আমার পুরস্কার তো জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকটই আছে।
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
জগতের মধ্যে তোমরাই পুরুষদের সাথে যৌনকর্ম করছো,
"Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males,
‘বিশ্বজগতের মধ্যে তো তোমরাই পুরুষের সঙ্গে উপগত হও,
Do you approach males among the worlds
আর তোমরা বর্জন করছো তোমাদের স্ত্রীদের, যাদেরকে তোমাদের প্রভু তোমাদের জন্যে সৃষ্টি করেছেন। তোমরা এক চরম সীমালঙ্ঘনকারী কওম।’’
"And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!"
‘এবং তোমাদের প্রতিপালক তোমাদের জন্য যে স্ত্রীগণকে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন তাহাদেরকে তোমরা বর্জন করিয়া থাক। তোমরা তো সীমালংঘনকারী সম্প্রদায়।’
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."
(জবাবে) তারা বলেছিল: ‘হে লুত! তুমি যদি তোমার এ কাজ থেকে বিরত না হও, তাহলে অবশ্যি তোমাকে (এ দেশ থেকে) বের করে দেয়া হবে।’
They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!"
উহারা বলিল, ‘হে লূত ! তুমি যদি নিবৃত্ত না হও, তবে অবশ্যই তুমি নির্বাসিত হইবে।’
They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."
লুত বলেছিল: ‘‘আমি তোমাদের এ কাজকে অবশ্যি ঘৃণা করি।
He said: "I do detest your doings."
লূত বলিল, ‘আমি তো তোমাদের এই কর্মকে ঘৃণা করি।
He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].
হে আমার প্রভু! আমাকে এবং আমার পরিবার পরিজনকে তাদের এ কর্মকান্ড থেকে রক্ষা করো।’’
"O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!"
‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক ! আমাকে এবং আমার পরিবার - পরিজনকে, উহারা যাহা করে, তাহা হইতে রক্ষা কর।
My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."
ফলে, আমরা তাকে এবং তার পরিবারের সবাইকে নাজাত দিয়েছিলাম
So We delivered him and his family, - all
অতঃপর আমি তাহাকে এবং তাহার পরিবার - পরিজন সকলকে রক্ষা করিলাম
So We saved him and his family, all,
এক বৃদ্ধাকে ছাড়া, সে হয়েছিল অবস্থানকারীদের অন্তরভুক্ত।
Except an old woman who lingered behind.
এক বৃদ্ধা ব্যতীত, যে ছিল পশ্চাতে অবস্থানকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
Except an old woman among those who remained behind.
তারপর বাকি সবাইকে আমরা ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছিলাম।
But the rest We destroyed utterly.
অতঃপর অপর সকলকে ধ্বংস করিলাম।
Then We destroyed the others.
আমরা তাদের উপর বর্ষণ করেছিলাম এক চূড়ান্ত বর্ষণ! যাদের সতর্ক করা হয়েছিল তাদের জন্যে এ বর্ষণ ছিলো কতো যে নিকৃষ্ট!
We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)!
তাহাদের উপর শাস্তিমূলক বৃষ্টি বর্ষণ করিয়াছিলাম, ভীতি প্রদর্শিতদের জন্য এই বৃষ্টি ছিল কত নিকৃষ্ট।
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
এর মধ্যেও রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন। আর তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলনা।
Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
ইহাতে অবশ্যই নিদর্শন রহিয়াছে, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
তোমার প্রভু, নিশ্চিতই তিনি মহাপরাক্রমশীল, অতীব দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful.
তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
আইকাবাসীরাও রসূলদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল।
The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers.
আয়কাবাসীরা রাসূলগণকে অস্বীকার করিয়াছিল,
The companions of the thicket denied the messengers
স্মরণ করো, শুয়াইব তাদের বলেছিল: ‘‘তোমরা কি সতর্ক হবেনা?
Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
যখন শু‘আয়ব উহাদেরকে বলিয়াছিল, তোমরা কি সাবধান হইবে না?
When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
আমি তোমাদের জন্যে একজন বিশ্বস্ত রসূল।
"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.
‘আমি তো তোমাদের জন্য এক বিশ্বস্ত রাসূল।
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো এবং আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"So fear Allah and obey me.
‘সুতরাং তােমরা কে ভয় কর ও আমার আনুগত্য কর।
So fear Allah and obey me.
(তোমাদের সতর্ক করার) এ দায়িত্ব পালনের জন্যে আমি তোমাদের কাছে কোনো পারিশ্রমিক চাইনা। আমার প্রতিদানের দায়িত্ব রাব্বুল আলামিনের উপর।
"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
‘আমি তোমাদের নিকট ইহার জন্য কোন প্রতিদান চাহি না। আমার পুরস্কার তো জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালকের নিকটই আছে।
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
মাপ পূর্ণ করে দেবে। যারা মাপে কম দেয় তোমরা তাদের অন্তরভুক্ত হয়োনা।
"Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud).
‘তোমরা মাপে পূর্ণ মাত্রায় দিবে ; যাহারা মাপে ঘাটতি করে তোমরা তাহাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইও না।
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.
ওজন দেবে সঠিক দাঁড়িপাল্লায়।
"And weigh with scales true and upright.
‘এবং ওজন করিবে সঠিক দাঁড়িপাল্লায়।
And weigh with an even balance.
মানুষকে তাদের জিনিসপত্র কম দিওনা এবং দেশে ফাসাদ সৃষ্টিকারী হয়োনা।
"And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief.
‘লোকদেরকে তাহাদের প্রাপ্য বস্তু কম দিবে না এবং পৃথিবীতে বিপর্যয় ঘটাইবে না।
And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
সেই মহান সত্তাকে ভয় করো, যিনি তোমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং তোমাদের আগে যারা বিগত হয়েছে তাদেরও সৃষ্টি করেছেন।’’
"And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)"
‘এবং ভয় কর তাঁহাকে যিনি তোমাদেরকে ও তোমাদের পূর্বে যাহারা গত হইয়াছে তাহাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন।’
And fear He who created you and the former creation."
তখন তারা বলেছিল: ‘‘তুমি তো একজন জাদুগ্রস্ত।
They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!
উহারা বলিল, ‘তুমি তো জাদুগ্রস্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ;
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
তুমি তো আমাদেরই মতো একজন মানুষ ছাড়া আর কিছু নও। আমরা তো মনে করি তুমি মিথ্যাবাদীদেরই একজন।
"Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!
‘তুমি আমাদের মতই একজন মানুষ। আমরা মনে করি, তুমি মিথ্যাবাদীদের অন্যতম।
You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
তুমি সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাকলে আকাশ ভেঙ্গে তার একটি খন্ড আমাদের উপর ফেলো।’’
"Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!"
‘তুমি যদি সত্যবাদী হও তবে আকাশের এক খণ্ড আমাদের উপর ফেলিয়া দাও।’
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."
তখন সে বলেছিল: ‘তোমরা যা করছো আমার প্রভু তা ভালোভাবেই জানেন।’
He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do."
সে বলিল, ‘আমার প্রতিপালক ভাল জানেন তোমরা যাহা কর।’
He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."
এভাবে তারা তাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করে। ফলে এক মেঘাচ্ছন্ন দিবসের আযাব তাদের গ্রাস করে নেয়। সেটা ছিলো এক ভয়াবহ দিনের আযাব।
But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day.
অতঃপর উহারা তাহাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করিল, পরে উহাদেরকে মেঘাচ্ছন্ন দিবসের শাস্তি গ্রাস করিল। ইহা তো ছিল এক ভীষণ দিবসের শাস্তি !
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
নিশ্চয়ই এতে রয়েছে একটি নিদর্শন। তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলনা।
Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
ইহাতে অবশ্যই রহিয়াছে নিদর্শন, কিন্তু উহাদের অধিকাংশই নহে।
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
আর তোমার প্রভু, নিশ্চয়ই তিনি মহাশক্তিধর, অতীব দয়াবান।
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
এবং তোমার প্রতিপালক, তিনি তো পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
নিশ্চয়ই এ কুরআন রাব্বুল আলামিনের নাযিলকৃত।
Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds:
নিশ্চয়ই আল - কুরআন জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক হইতে অবতীর্ণ।
And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
এটি নিয়ে নাযিল হয়েছে রুহুল আমিন (জিবরিল)
With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth -
জিব্রাঈল ইহা লইয়া অবতরণ করিয়াছে
The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down
তোমার হৃদয়ে, যাতে করে তুমি হতে পারো একজন সতর্ককারী।
To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish.
তোমার হৃদয়ে, যাহাতে তুমি সতর্ককারী হইতে পার।
Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -
(সেটি নাযিল করা হয়েছে) সুস্পষ্ট আরবি ভাষায়।
In the perspicuous Arabic tongue.
অবতীর্ণ করা হইয়াছে সুস্পষ্ট আরবী ভাষায়।
In a clear Arabic language.
আগের কিতাবগুলোতেও এর উল্লেখ আছে।
Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples.
পূর্ববর্তী কিতাবসমূহে অবশ্যই ইহার উল্লেখ আছে।
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
এটা কি তাদের জন্যে একটা নিদর্শন নয় যে, এ বিষয়ে অবগত রয়েছে বনি ইসরাঈলের আলেমরা?
Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?
বনী ইস্রাঈলের পণ্ডিতগণ ইহা অবগত আছে - ইহা কি উহাদের জন্য নিদর্শন নহে?
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
আমরা যদি এ (কুরআন) নাযিল করতাম কোনো অনারবের উপর,
Had We revealed it to any of the non - Arabs,
আমি যদি ইহা কোন আ‘জামীর প্রতি অবতীর্ণ করিতাম
And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
আর সে যদি এটি তাদের কাছে পাঠ করতো, তবে তারা এর প্রতি ঈমান আনতোনা।
And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.
এবং উহা সে উহাদের নিকট পাঠ করিত, তবে উহারা উহাতে ঈমান আনিত না ;
And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.
এভাবেই আমরা অপরাধীদের অন্তরে (অবিশ্বাস) সঞ্চার করে দিয়েছি।
Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners.
এইভাবে আমি অপরাধীদের অন্তরে অবিশ্বাস সঞ্চার করিয়াছি।
Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals.
তারা ঈমান আনবেনা যতোদিন না সচোক্ষে দেখতে পায় বেদনাদায়ক আযাব।
They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty;
উহারা ইহাতে ঈমান আনিবে না যতক্ষণ না উহারা মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করে;
They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
হ্যাঁ, সেটা এসে পড়বে আকস্মিক এবং তারা টেরই পাবেনা।
But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;
ফলে তাহা উহাদের নিকট আসিয়া পড়িবে আকস্মিকভাবে ; উহারা কিছুই বুঝিতে পারিবে না।
And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
তখন তারা বলবে: ‘আমাদের কি অবকাশ দেয়া হবে?’
Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?"
তখন উহারা বলিবে, ‘আমাদেরকে কি অবকাশ দেওয়া হইবে?’
And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"
তারা কি দ্রুত আগমন চায় আমাদের আযাবের?
Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on?
উহারা কি তবে আমার শাস্তি ত্বরান্বিত করিতে চায়?
So for Our punishment are they impatient?
তুমি কি দেখোনি, আমরা তো অনেক বছর তাদের ভোগ বিলাস করতে দিয়েছি।
Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years,
তুমি ভাবিয়া দেখ যদি আমি তাহাদেরকে দীর্ঘকাল ভোগ - বিলাস করিতে দেই,
Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
তার পরেই এসেছিল সেই জিনিস (তাদের ধ্বংস) যার ওয়াদা তাদের দেয়া হয়েছিল।
Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised!
এবং পরে উহাদেরকে যে বিষয়ে সতর্ক করা হইয়াছিল তাহা উহাদের নিকট আসিয়া পড়ে,
And then there came to them that which they were promised?
তাদের ভোগ বিলাসের উপকরণসমূহ তাদের কোনো কাজেই আসেনি।
It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)!
তখন উহাদের ভোগ - বিলাসের উপকরণ উহাদের কোন কাজে আসিবে কি?
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
আমরা এমন কোনো জনপদ হালাক করিনি যার জন্যে সতর্ককারীরা ছিলনা।
Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners -
আমি এমন কোন জনপদ ধ্বংস করি নাই যাহার জন্য সতর্ককারী ছিল না ;
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
এটি একটি উপদেশ। (তাদের ব্যাপারে) আমরা অন্যায় আচরণ করিনি।
By way of reminder; and We never are unjust.
ইহা উপদেশস্বরূপ, আর আমি অন্যায়াচারী নই,
As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.
এ কুরআন নিয়ে শয়তানরা নাযিল হয়নি।
No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation):
শয়তানেরা উহাসহ অবতীর্ণ হয় নাই।
And the devils have not brought the revelation down.
এ কাজের তারা যোগ্যও নয় এবং এ কাজের সামর্থও তাদের নেই।
It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it).
উহারা এই কাজের যোগ্য নয় এবং উহারা ইহার সামর্থ্যও রাখে না।
It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
তাদেরকে তো এটা শোনার সুযোগ থেকে দূরে রাখা হয়েছে।
Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it.
উহাদেরকে তো শ্রবণের সুযোগ হইতে দূরে রাখা হইয়াছে।
Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.
সুতরাং তুমি আল্লাহর সাথে অন্য কোনো ইলাহ্ ডেকোনা, ডাকলে দন্ডপ্রাপ্তদের অন্তরভুক্ত হয়ে পড়বে।
So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty.
অতএব তুমি অন্য কোন ইলাহ্কে র সঙ্গে ডাকিও না, ডাকিলে তুমি শাস্তিপ্রাপ্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইবে।
So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
তোমার নিকটাত্মীয়দের সতর্ক করো।
And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,
তোমার নিকট - আত্মীয়বর্গকে সতর্ক করিয়া দাও।
And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.
আর যারা তোমার অনুসরণ করে সেসব মুমিনদের প্রতি তুমি স্নেহ - মমতার ডানা অবনমিত করো।
And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee.
এবং যাহারা তোমার অনুসরণ করে সেই সমস্ত মু’মিনদের প্রতি বিনয়ী হও।
And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers.
তারা যদি তোমার অবাধ্য হয়, তবে তুমি বলো: ‘তোমাদের কর্মকান্ড থেকে আমি দায়মুক্ত।’
Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!"
উহারা যদি তোমার অবাধ্যতা করে, তুমি বলিও, ‘তোমরা যাহা কর তাহা হইতে আমি দায়মুক্ত।’
And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."
মহাশক্তিধর, অতীব দয়াবানের উপর তাওয়াক্কুল করো,
And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, -
তুমি নির্ভর কর পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু র উপর,
And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
যিনি তোমাকে দেখেন যখন তুমি দাঁড়াও (সালাতে)।
Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer),
যিনি তোমাকে দেখেন যখন তুমি দণ্ডায়মান হও,
Who sees you when you arise
তাছাড়া সাজদাকারীদের সাথে তোমার উঠাবসাও তিনি দেখেন।
And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves,
এবং দেখেন সিজ্দাকারীদের সঙ্গে তোমার উঠাবসা।
And your movement among those who prostrate.
তিনি সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞানী।
For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things.
তিনি তো সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞ।
Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
(হে মানুষ!) তোমাদের সংবাদ দেবো কি, শয়তানরা কার ঘাড়ে সওয়ার হয়?
Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend?
তোমাদেরকে কি আমি জানাইব কাহার নিকট শয়তানরা অবতীর্ণ হয়?
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
তারা তো সওয়ার হয় প্রত্যেক কট্টর মিথ্যাবাদী পাপিষ্ঠের ঘাড়ে।
They descend on every lying, wicked person,
উহারা অবতীর্ণ হয় প্রত্যেকটি ঘোর মিথ্যাবাদী ও পাপীর নিকট।
They descend upon every sinful liar.
তারা কান পেতে থাকে এবং তাদের অধিকাংশই মিথ্যাবাদী।
(Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars.
উহারা কান পাতিয়া থাকে এবং উহাদের অধিকাংশই মিথ্যাবাদী।
They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.
কবিদের অনুসরণ করে তো বিভ্রান্তরাই।
And the Poets, - It is those straying in Evil, who follow them:
এবং কবিদেরকে অনুসরণ করে বিভ্রান্তরাই।
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
তুমি দেখোনা তারা উদ্ভ্রান্তের মতো প্রত্যেক উপত্যকায়ই ঘুমিয়ে পড়ে?
Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley? -
তুমি কি দেখ না উহারা উদ্ভ্রান্ত হইয়া প্রত্যেক উপত্যকায় ঘুরিয়া বেড়ায়?
Do you not see that in every valley they roam
আর তারা তাই বলে, যা তারা করেনা।
And that they say what they practise not? -
এবং তাহারা তো বলে যাহা তাহারা করে না।
And that they say what they do not do? -
তবে তারা নয়, যারা ঈমান আনে, আমলে সালেহ্ করে, আল্লাহকে বেশি বেশি স্মরণ করে এবং অত্যাচারিত হবার পরই প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণ করে। যারা যুলুম করে তারা শীঘ্রি জানতে পারবে কোন্ ফিরে যাবার জায়গায় তারা ফিরে যাবে?
Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!
কিন্তু উহারা ব্যতীত, যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে এবং কে অধিক স্মরণ করে ও অত্যাচারিত হইবার পর প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণ করে। অত্যাচারীরা শীঘ্রই জানিবে কোন্ স্থলে উহারা প্রত্যাবর্তন করিবে।
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
