بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله الذي أنزل على عبده الكتاب ولم يجعل له عوجا ۜ

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the Book (the Qur'an), and has not placed therein any crookedness.
ইহাকে করিয়াছেন সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত তাঁহার কঠিন শাস্তি সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করিবার জন্য, এবং মু’মিনগণ, যাহারা সৎকর্ম করে, তাহাদেরকে এই সুসংবাদ দিবার জন্য যে, তাহাদের জন্য আছে উত্তম পুরস্কার,

قيما لينذر بأسا شديدا من لدنه ويبشر المؤمنين الذين يعملون الصالحات أن لهم أجرا حسنا

(He has made it) straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), who do righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise).
এই বিষয়ে উহাদের কোন জ্ঞান নাই এবং উহাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরও ছিল না। উহাদের মুখনিঃসৃত বাক্য কী সাংঘাতিক! উহারা তো কেবল মিথ্যাই বলে।

ما لهم به من علم ولا لآبائهم ۚ كبرت كلمة تخرج من أفواههم ۚ إن يقولون إلا كذبا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie .
উহারা এই বাণী বিশ্বাস না করিলে সম্ভবত উহাদের পিছনে ঘুরিয়া তুমি দুঃখে আত্মবিনাশী হইয়া পড়িবে।

فلعلك باخع نفسك على آثارهم إن لم يؤمنوا بهذا الحديث أسفا

Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Qur'an).
পৃথিবীর উপর যাহা কিছু আছে আমি সেইগুলিকে উহার শোভা করিয়াছি, মানুষকে এই পরীক্ষা করিবার জন্য যে, উহাদের মধ্যে কর্মে কে শ্রেষ্ঠ।

إنا جعلنا ما على الأرض زينة لها لنبلوهم أيهم أحسن عملا

Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e. those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم].
যখন যুবকরা গুহায় আশ্রয় লইল তখন তাহারা বলিয়াছিল, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! তুমি নিজ হইতে আমাদেরকে অনুগ্রহ দান কর এবং আমাদের জন্য আমাদের কাজকর্ম সঠিকভাবে পরিচালনার ব্যবস্থা কর।’

إذ أوى الفتية إلى الكهف فقالوا ربنا آتنا من لدنك رحمة وهيئ لنا من أمرنا رشدا

(Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave. They said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!"
আমি তোমার নিকট উহাদের বৃত্তান্ত সঠিকভাবে বর্ণনা করিতেছি : উহারা ছিল কয়েকজন যুবক, উহারা উহাদের প্রতিপালকের প্রতি ঈমান আনিয়াছিল এবং আমি উহাদের সৎপথে চলার শক্তি বৃদ্ধি করিয়াছিলাম,
We narrate unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) their story with truth: Truly they were young men who believed in their Lord (Allah), and We increased them in guidance.
এবং আমি উহাদের চিত্ত দৃঢ় করিয়া দিলাম; উহারা যখন উঠিয়া দাঁড়াইল তখন বলিল, ‘আমাদের প্রতিপালক। আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর প্রতিপালক। আমরা কখনই তাঁহার পরিবর্তে অন্য কোন ইলাহ্কে আহ্বান করিব না ; যদি করিয়া বসি, তবে উহা অতিশয় গর্হিত হইবে।

وربطنا على قلوبهم إذ قاموا فقالوا ربنا رب السماوات والأرض لن ندعو من دونه إلها ۖ لقد قلنا إذا شططا

And We made their hearts firm and strong (with the light of Faith in Allah and bestowed upon them patience to bear the separation of their kith and kin and dwellings) when they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, never shall we call upon any ilah (god) other than Him; if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity in disbelief.
‘আমাদেরই এই স্বজাতিগণ, তাঁহার পরিবর্তে অনেক ইলাহ্ গ্রহণ করিয়াছে। ইহারা এই সমস্ত ইলাহ্ সম্বন্ধে স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ উপস্থিত করে না কেন? যে সম্বন্ধে মিথ্যা উদ্ভাবন করে তাহার অপেক্ষা অধিক আর কে?’

هؤلاء قومنا اتخذوا من دونه آلهة ۖ لولا يأتون عليهم بسلطان بين ۖ فمن أظلم ممن افترى على الله كذبا

"These our people have taken for worship alihah (gods) other than Him (Allah). Why do they not bring for them a clear authority? And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah.
তোমরা যখন বিচ্ছিন্ন হইলে উহাদের হইতে ও উহারা র পরিবর্তে যাহাদের ‘ইবাদত করে তাহাদের হইতে তখন তোমরা গুহায় আশ্রয় গ্রহণ কর। তোমাদের প্রতিপালক তোমাদের জন্য তাঁহার দয়া বিস্তার করিবেন এবং তিনি তোমাদের জন্য তোমাদের কাজকর্মকে ফলপ্রসূ করিবার ব্যবস্থা করিবেন।

وإذ اعتزلتموهم وما يعبدون إلا الله فأووا إلى الكهف ينشر لكم ربكم من رحمته ويهيئ لكم من أمركم مرفقا

(The young men said to one another): "And when you withdraw from them, and that which they worship, except Allah, then seek refuge in the Cave; your Lord will open a way for you from His Mercy and will make easy for you your affair (i.e. will give you what you will need of provision, dwelling)."
তুমি দেখিতে পাইতে উহারা গুহার প্রশস্ত চত্বরে অবস্থিত, সূর্য উদয়কালে উহাদের গুহার দক্ষিণ পার্শ্বে হেলিয়া যায় এবং অস্তকালে উহাদেরকে অতিক্রম করে বাম পার্শ্ব দিয়া, এই সমস্ত র নিদর্শন। যাহাকে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন, সে সৎপথপ্রাপ্ত এবং তিনি যাহাকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেন, তুমি কখনও তাহার কোন পথপ্রদর্শনকারী অভিভাবক পাইবে না।

۞ وترى الشمس إذا طلعت تزاور عن كهفهم ذات اليمين وإذا غربت تقرضهم ذات الشمال وهم في فجوة منه ۚ ذلك من آيات الله ۗ من يهد الله فهو المهتد ۖ ومن يضلل فلن تجد له وليا مرشدا

And you might have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the midst of the Cave. That is (one) of the Ayat (proofs, evidence, signs) of Allah. He whom Allah guides, he is the rightly guided; but he whom He sends astray, for him you will find no Wali (guiding friend) to lead him (to the right Path).
তুমি মনে করিতে উহারা জাগ্রত, কিন্তু উহারা ছিল নিদ্রিত। আমি উহাদেরকে পার্শ্ব পরিবর্তন করাইতাম ডান দিকে ও বাম দিকে এবং উহাদের কুকুর ছিল সম্মুখের পা দুইটি গুহাদ্বারে প্রসারিত করিয়া। তাকাইয়া উহাদেরকে দেখিলে তুমি পিছন ফিরিয়া পলায়ন করিতে ও উহাদের ভয়ে আতংকগ্রস্ত হইয়া পড়িতে;

وتحسبهم أيقاظا وهم رقود ۚ ونقلبهم ذات اليمين وذات الشمال ۖ وكلبهم باسط ذراعيه بالوصيد ۚ لو اطلعت عليهم لوليت منهم فرارا ولملئت منهم رعبا

And you would have thought them awake, whereas they were asleep. And We turned them on their right and on their left sides, and their dog stretching forth his two forelegs at the entrance [of the Cave or in the space near to the entrance of the Cave (as a guard at the gate)]. Had you looked at them, you would certainly have turned back from them in flight, and would certainly have been filled with awe of them.
এবং এইভাবেই আমি উহাদেরকে জাগরিত করিলাম যাহাতে উহারা পরস্পরের মধ্যে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে। উহাদের একজন বলিল, ‘তোমরা কত কাল অবস্থান করিয়াছ?’ কেহ কেহ বলিল, ‘আমরা অবস্থান করিয়াছি এক দিন অথবা এক দিনের কিছু অংশ।’ কেহ কেহ বলিল, ‘তোমরা কত কাল অবস্থান করিয়াছ তাহা তোমাদের প্রতিপালকই ভাল জানেন। এখন তোমাদের একজনকে তোমাদের এই মুদ্রাসহ নগরে প্রেরণ কর। সে যেন দেখে কোন্ খাদ্য উত্তম ও উহা হইতে যেন কিছু খাদ্য লইয়া আসে তোমাদের জন্য। সে যেন বিচক্ষণতার সহিত কাজ করে ও কিছুতেই যেন তোমাদের সম্বন্ধে কাহাকেও কিছু জানিতে না দেয়।

وكذلك بعثناهم ليتساءلوا بينهم ۚ قال قائل منهم كم لبثتم ۖ قالوا لبثنا يوما أو بعض يوم ۚ قالوا ربكم أعلم بما لبثتم فابعثوا أحدكم بورقكم هذه إلى المدينة فلينظر أيها أزكى طعاما فليأتكم برزق منه وليتلطف ولا يشعرن بكم أحدا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Likewise, We awakened them (from their long deep sleep) that they might question one another. A speaker from among them said: "How long have you stayed (here)?" They said: "We have stayed (perhaps) a day or part of a day." They said: "Your Lord (Alone) knows best how long you have stayed (here). So send one of you with this silver coin of yours to the town, and let him find out which is the good lawful food, and bring some of that to you. And let him be careful and let no man know of you.
‘উহারা যদি তোমাদের বিষয় জানিতে পারে তবে তোমাদেরকে প্রস্তরাঘাতে হত্যা করিবে অথবা তোমাদেরকে উহাদের ধর্মে ফিরাইয়া লইবে এবং সেক্ষেত্রে তোমরা কখনও সাফল্য লাভ করিবে না।’

إنهم إن يظهروا عليكم يرجموكم أو يعيدوكم في ملتهم ولن تفلحوا إذا أبدا

"For, if they come to know of you, they will stone you (to death or abuse and harm you) or turn you back to their religion; and in that case you will never be ."
এইভাবে আমি মানুষকে উহাদের বিষয় জানাইয়া দিলাম যাহাতে তাহারা জ্ঞাত হয় যে, র প্রতিশ্রুতি সত্য এবং কিয়ামতে কোন সন্দেহ নাই। যখন তাহারা তাহাদের কর্তব্য বিষয়ে নিজেদের মধ্যে বিতর্ক করিতেছিল তখন অনেকে বলিল, ‘উহাদের উপর সৌধ নির্মাণ কর।’ উহাদের প্রতিপালক উহাদের বিষয় ভাল জানেন। তাহাদের কর্তব্য বিষয়ে যাহাদের মত প্রবল হইল তাহারা বলিল, আমরা তো নিশ্চয়ই উহাদের পার্শ্বে মসজিদ নির্মাণ করিব।’

وكذلك أعثرنا عليهم ليعلموا أن وعد الله حق وأن الساعة لا ريب فيها إذ يتنازعون بينهم أمرهم ۖ فقالوا ابنوا عليهم بنيانا ۖ ربهم أعلم بهم ۚ قال الذين غلبوا على أمرهم لنتخذن عليهم مسجدا

And thus We made their case known (to the people), that they might know that the Promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour. (Remember) when they (the people of the city) disputed among themselves about their case, they said: "Construct a building over them; their Lord knows best about them;" (then) those who won their point said (most probably the disbelievers): "We verily shall build a place of worship over them."
কেহ কেহ বলিবে, ‘উহারা ছিল তিনজন, উহাদের চতুর্থটি ছিল উহাদের কুকুর’ এবং কেহ কেহ বলিবে, ‘উহারা ছিল পাঁচজন, উহাদের ষষ্ঠটি ছিল উহাদের কুকুর’, অজানা বিষয়ে অনুমানের উপর নির্ভর করিয়া। আবার কেহ কেহ বলিবে, ‘উহারা ছিল সাতজন, উহাদের অষ্টমটি ছিল উহাদের কুকুর।’ বল, ‘আমার প্রতিপালকই উহাদের সংখ্যা ভাল জানেন’; উহাদের সংখ্যা অল্প কয়েকজনই জানে। সাধারণ আলোচনা ব্যতীত তুমি উহাদের বিষয়ে বিতর্ক করিও না এবং ইহাদের কাহাকেও উহাদের বিষয়ে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করিও না।

سيقولون ثلاثة رابعهم كلبهم ويقولون خمسة سادسهم كلبهم رجما بالغيب ۖ ويقولون سبعة وثامنهم كلبهم ۚ قل ربي أعلم بعدتهم ما يعلمهم إلا قليل ۗ فلا تمار فيهم إلا مراء ظاهرا ولا تستفت فيهم منهم أحدا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
(Some) say they were three, the dog being the fourth among them; and (others) say they were five, the dog being the sixth, - guessing at the unseen; (yet others) say they were seven, and the dog being the eighth. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "My Lord knows best their number; none knows them but a few." So debate not (about their number) except with the clear proof (which We have revealed to you). And consult not any of them (people of the Scripture - Jews and Christians) about (the affair of) the people of the Cave.
ইচ্ছা করিলে’ এই কথা না বলিয়া।” যদি ভুলিয়া যাও তবে তোমার প্রতিপালককে স্মরণ করিও এবং বলিও, ‘সম্ভবত আমার প্রতিপালক আমাকে ইহা অপেক্ষা সত্যের নিকটতর পথনির্দেশ করিবেন।’

إلا أن يشاء الله ۚ واذكر ربك إذا نسيت وقل عسى أن يهدين ربي لأقرب من هذا رشدا

Except (with the saying), "If Allah will!" And remember your Lord when you forget and say: "It may be that my Lord guides me unto a nearer way of truth than this."
তুমি বল, ‘তাহারা কতকাল ছিল তাহা ই ভাল জানেন’, আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর অজ্ঞাত বিষয়ের জ্ঞান তাঁহারই। তিনি কত সুন্দর দ্রষ্টা ও শ্রোতা! তিনি ব্যতীত উহাদের অন্য কোন অভিভাবক নাই। তিনি কাহাকেও নিজ কর্তৃত্বের শরীক করেন না।

قل الله أعلم بما لبثوا ۖ له غيب السماوات والأرض ۖ أبصر به وأسمع ۚ ما لهم من دونه من ولي ولا يشرك في حكمه أحدا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Say: "Allah knows best how long they stayed. With Him is (the knowledge of) the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. How clearly He sees, and hears (everything)! They have no Wali (Helper, Disposer of affairs, Protector) other than Him, and He makes none to share in His Decision and His Rule."
তুমি তোমার প্রতি প্রত্যদিষ্ট তোমার প্রতিপালকের কিতাব হইতে পাঠ করিয়া শুনাও। তাঁহার বাক্য পরিবর্তন করিবার কেহই নাই। তুমি কখনও তাহাকে ব্যতীত অন্য কোন আশ্রয় পাইবে না।

واتل ما أوحي إليك من كتاب ربك ۖ لا مبدل لكلماته ولن تجد من دونه ملتحدا

And recite what has been revealed to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of the Book (the Qur'an) of your Lord (i.e. recite it, understand and follow its teachings and act on its orders and preach it to men). None can change His Words, and none will you find as a refuge other than Him.
তুমি নিজেকে ধৈর্য সহকারে রাখিবে উহাদেরই সংসর্গে যাহারা সকাল ও সন্ধ্যায় আহ্বান করে উহাদের প্রতিপালককে তাঁহার সন্তুষ্টি লাভের উদ্দেশ্যে এবং তুমি পার্থিব জীবনের শোভা কামনা করিয়া উহাদের হইতে তোমার দৃষ্টি ফিরাইয়া লইও না। তুমি তাহার আনুগত্য করিও না - যাহার চিত্তকে আমি আমার স্মরণে অমনোযোগী করিয়া দিয়াছি, যে তাহার খেয়াল - খুশির অনুসরণ করে ও যাহার কার্যকলাপ সীমা অতিক্রম করে।

واصبر نفسك مع الذين يدعون ربهم بالغداة والعشي يريدون وجهه ۖ ولا تعد عيناك عنهم تريد زينة الحياة الدنيا ۖ ولا تطع من أغفلنا قلبه عن ذكرنا واتبع هواه وكان أمره فرطا

And keep yourself (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) patiently with those who call on their Lord (i.e. your companions who remember their Lord with glorification, praising in prayers, and other righteous deeds) morning and afternoon, seeking His Face; and let not your eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp and glitter of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, and who follows his own lusts, and whose affair (deeds) has been lost.
বল, ‘সত্য তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট হইতে; সুতরাং যাহার ইচ্ছা বিশ্বাস করুক ও যাহার ইচ্ছা সত্য প্রত্যাখ্যান করুক।’ নিশ্চয়ই আমি জালিমদের জন্য প্রস্তুত রাখিয়াছি অগ্নি, যাহার বেষ্টনী উহাদেরকে পরিবেষ্টন করিয়া থাকিবে। উহারা পানীয় চাহিলে উহাদেরকে দেওয়া হইবে গলিত ধাতুর ন্যায় পানীয়, যাহা উহাদের মুখমণ্ডল দগ্ধ করিবে; ইহা নিকৃষ্ট পানীয়। আর জাহান্নাম কত নিকৃষ্ট আশ্রয়।

وقل الحق من ربكم ۖ فمن شاء فليؤمن ومن شاء فليكفر ۚ إنا أعتدنا للظالمين نارا أحاط بهم سرادقها ۚ وإن يستغيثوا يغاثوا بماء كالمهل يشوي الوجوه ۚ بئس الشراب وساءت مرتفقا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And say: "The truth is from your Lord." Then whosoever wills, let him believe; and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers.), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). And if they ask for help (relief, water), they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible is the drink, and an evil Murtafaq (dwelling, resting place.)!
যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে - আমি তো তাহার শ্রমফল নষ্ট করি না - সে উত্তমরূপে কার্য সম্পাদন করে।

إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات إنا لا نضيع أجر من أحسن عملا

Verily as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, certainly We shall not make the reward of anyone who does his (righteous) deeds in the most perfect manner to be lost.
উহাদেরই জন্য আছে স্থায়ী জান্নাত যাহার পাদদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত, সেখানে উহাদেরকে স্বর্ণ - কংকনে অলংকৃত করা হইবে, উহারা পরিধান করিবে সূক্ষ্ম ও পুরু রেশমের সবুজ বস্ত্র ও সেখানে সমাসীন হইবে সুসজ্জিত আসনে; কত সুন্দর পুরস্কার ও উত্তম আশ্রয়স্থল!

أولئك لهم جنات عدن تجري من تحتهم الأنهار يحلون فيها من أساور من ذهب ويلبسون ثيابا خضرا من سندس وإستبرق متكئين فيها على الأرائك ۚ نعم الثواب وحسنت مرتفقا

These! For them will be 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens); wherein rivers flow underneath them; therein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine and thick silk. They will recline therein on raised thrones. How good is the reward, and what an excellent Murtafaq (dwelling, resting place.)!
তুমি উহাদের নিকট পেশ কর দুই ব্যক্তির উপমা : উহাদের একজনকে আমি দিয়াছিলাম দুইটি দ্রাক্ষা - উদ্যান এবং এই দুইটিকে আমি খর্জুর - বৃক্ষ দ্বারা পরিবেষ্টিত করিয়াছিলাম ও এই দুইয়ের মধ্যবর্তী স্থানকে করিয়াছিলাম শস্যক্ষেত্র।

۞ واضرب لهم مثلا رجلين جعلنا لأحدهما جنتين من أعناب وحففناهما بنخل وجعلنا بينهما زرعا

And put forward to them the example of two men: unto one of them We had given two gardens of grapes, and We had surrounded both with date-palms; and had put between them green crops (cultivated fields).
এবং তাহার প্রচুর ধনসম্পদ ছিল। অতঃপর কথা প্রসঙ্গে সে তাহার বন্ধুকে বলিল, ‘ধনসম্পদে আমি তোমার অপেক্ষা শ্রেষ্ঠ এবং জনবলে তোমার অপেক্ষা শক্তিশালী।’

وكان له ثمر فقال لصاحبه وهو يحاوره أنا أكثر منك مالا وأعز نفرا

And he had property (or fruit) and he said to his companion, in the course of mutual talk: "I am more than you in wealth and stronger in respect of men." (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi).
‘আমি মনে করি না যে, কিয়ামত হইবে; আর আমি যদি আমার প্রতিপালকের নিকট প্রত্যাবৃত্ত হই - ই তবে আমি তো নিশ্চয়ই ইহা অপেক্ষা উৎকৃষ্ট স্থান পাইব।’

وما أظن الساعة قائمة ولئن رددت إلى ربي لأجدن خيرا منها منقلبا

"And I think not the Hour will ever come, and if indeed I am brought back to my Lord, (on the Day of Resurrection), I surely shall find better than this when I return to Him."
তদুত্তরে তাহার বন্ধু তাহাকে বলিল, ‘তুমি কি তাঁহাকে অস্বীকার করিতেছ যিনি তোমাকে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন মৃত্তিকা ও পরে শুক্র হইতে এবং তাহার পর পূর্ণাঙ্গ করিয়াছেন মনুষ্য - আকৃতিতে?’

قال له صاحبه وهو يحاوره أكفرت بالذي خلقك من تراب ثم من نطفة ثم سواك رجلا

His companion said to him during the talk with him: "Do you disbelieve in Him Who created you out of dust (i.e. your father Adam), then out of Nutfah (mixed semen drops of male and female discharge), then fashioned you into a man?
‘তুমি যখন তোমার উদ্যানে প্রবেশ করিলে তখন কেন বলিলে না, যাহা চাহেন তাহাই হয়, র সাহায্য ব্যতীত কোন শক্তি নাই?’ তুমি যদি ধনে ও সন্তানে আমাকে তোমার অপেক্ষা নিকৃষ্টতর মনে কর -

ولولا إذ دخلت جنتك قلت ما شاء الله لا قوة إلا بالله ۚ إن ترن أنا أقل منك مالا وولدا

"It was better for you to say, when you entered your garden: 'That which Allah wills (will come to pass)! There is no power but with Allah !' If you see me less than you in wealth, and children,
‘তবে হয়ত আমার প্রতিপালক আমাকে তোমার উদ্যান অপেক্ষা উৎকৃষ্টতর কিছু দিবেন এবং তোমার উদ্যানে আকাশ হইতে নির্ধারিত বিপর্যয় প্রেরণ করিবেন; যাহার ফলে উহা উদ্ভিদশূন্য ময়দানে পরিণত হইবে।

فعسى ربي أن يؤتين خيرا من جنتك ويرسل عليها حسبانا من السماء فتصبح صعيدا زلقا

"It may be that my Lord will give me something better than your garden, and will send on it Husban (torment, bolt) from the sky, then it will be a barren slippery earth.
তাহার ফল - সম্পদ বিপর্যয়ে বেষ্টিত হইয়া গেল এবং সে উহাতে যাহা ব্যয় করিয়াছিল তাহার জন্য আক্ষেপ করিতে লাগিল যখন উহা মাচানসহ ভূমিসাৎ হইয়া গেল। সে বলিতে লাগিল, ‘হায়, আমি যদি কাহাকেও আমার প্রতিপালকের শরীক না করিতাম!’

وأحيط بثمره فأصبح يقلب كفيه على ما أنفق فيها وهي خاوية على عروشها ويقول يا ليتني لم أشرك بربي أحدا

So his fruits were encircled (with ruin). And he remained clapping his hands (with sorrow) over what he had spent upon it, while it was all destroyed on its trellises, and he could only say: "Would that I had ascribed no partners to my Lord!" [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]
এই ক্ষেত্রে কতৃর্ত্ব রই, যিনি সত্য ও পুরস্কার দানে ও পরিনাম নির্ধারনে তিনিই শ্রেষ্ঠ।

هنالك الولاية لله الحق ۚ هو خير ثوابا وخير عقبا

There (on the Day of Resurrection), Al-Walayah (protection, power, authority and kingdom) will be for Allah (Alone), the True God. He (Allah) is the Best for reward and the Best for the final end. (La ilaha illallah- none has the right to be worshipped but Allah).
উহাদের নিকট পেশ কর উপমা পার্থিব জীবনের : ইহা পানির ন্যায় যাহা আমি বর্ষণ করি আকাশ হইতে, যদ্দ্বারা ভূমিজ উদ্ভিদ ঘন - সন্নিবিষ্ট হইয়া উদ্গত হয়, অতঃপর উহা বিশুষ্ক হইয়া এমন চূর্ণ বিচূর্ণ হয় যে, বাতাসে উহাকে উড়াইয়া লইয়া যায়। সর্ববিষয়ে শক্তিমান।

واضرب لهم مثل الحياة الدنيا كماء أنزلناه من السماء فاختلط به نبات الأرض فأصبح هشيما تذروه الرياح ۗ وكان الله على كل شيء مقتدرا

And put forward to them the example of the life of this world: it is like the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it, and becomes fresh and green. But (later) it becomes dry and broken pieces, which the winds scatter. And Allah is Able to do everything.
ধনৈশ্বর্য ও সন্তান - সন্ততি পার্থিব জীবনের শোভা; এবং স্থায়ী সৎকর্ম তোমার প্রতিপালকের নিকট পুরস্কার প্রাপ্তির জন্য শ্রেষ্ঠ এবং কাঙ্ক্ষিত হিসাবেও উৎকৃষ্ট।

المال والبنون زينة الحياة الدنيا ۖ والباقيات الصالحات خير عند ربك ثوابا وخير أملا

Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world. But the good righteous deeds, that last, are better with your Lord for rewards and better in respect of hope.
স্মরণ কর, যেদিন আমি পর্বতমালাকে করিব সঞ্চালিত এবং তুমি পৃথিবীকে দেখিবে উন্মুক্ত প্রান্তর, সেদিন তাহাদের সকলকে আমি একত্র করিব এবং উহাদের কাহাকেও অব্যাহতি দিব না,

ويوم نسير الجبال وترى الأرض بارزة وحشرناهم فلم نغادر منهم أحدا

And (remember) the Day We shall cause the mountains to pass away (like clouds of dust), and you will see the earth as a levelled plain, and we shall gather them all together so as to leave not one of them behind.
এবং উহাদেরকে তোমার প্রতিপালকের নিকট উপস্থিত করা হইবে সারিবদ্ধভাবে এবং বলা হইবে, ‘তোমাদেরকে প্রথমবার যেভাবে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছিলাম সেইভাবেই তোমরা আমার নিকট উপস্থিত হইয়াছ, অথচ তোমরা মনে করিতে যে, তোমাদের জন্য প্রতিশ্রুত ক্ষণ আমি কখনও উপস্থিত করিব না।’

وعرضوا على ربك صفا لقد جئتمونا كما خلقناكم أول مرة ۚ بل زعمتم ألن نجعل لكم موعدا

And they will be set before your Lord in (lines as) rows, (and Allah will say): "Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time. Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us)."
এবং উপস্থিত করা হইবে আমলনামা এবং উহাতে যাহা লিপিবদ্ধ আছে তাহার কারণে তুমি অপরাধীদেরকে দেখিবে আতংকগ্রস্ত এবং উহারা বলিবে, ‘হায়, দুর্ভাগ্য আমাদের! ইহা কেমন গ্রন্থ! উহা তো ছোট - বড় কিছুই বাদ দেয় না; বরং উহা সমস্ত হিসাব রাখিয়াছে।’ উহারা উহাদের কৃতকর্ম সম্মুখে উপস্থিত পাইবে ; তোমার প্রতিপালক কাহারও প্রতি জুলুম করেন না।

ووضع الكتاب فترى المجرمين مشفقين مما فيه ويقولون يا ويلتنا مال هذا الكتاب لا يغادر صغيرة ولا كبيرة إلا أحصاها ۚ ووجدوا ما عملوا حاضرا ۗ ولا يظلم ربك أحدا

And the Book (one's Record) will be placed (in the right hand for a believer in the Oneness of Allah, and in the left hand for a in the Oneness of Allah), and you will see the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners), fearful of that which is (recorded) therein. They will say: "Woe to us! What sort of Book is this that leaves neither a small thing nor a big thing, but has recorded it with numbers!" And they will find all that they did, placed before them, and your Lord treats no one with injustice.
এবং স্মরণ কর, আমি যখন ফিরিশ্তাগণকে বলিয়াছিলাম, ‘আদমের প্রতি সিজ্দা কর’, তখন তাহারা সকলেই সিজ্দা করিল ইব্লীস ব্যতীত; সে জিনদের একজন, সে তাহার প্রতিপালকের আদেশ অমান্য করিল। তবে কি তোমরা আমার পরিবর্তে উহাকে এবং উহার বংশধরকে অভিভাবকরূপে গ্রহণ করিতেছ? উহারা তো তোমাদের শত্রু। জালিমদের এই বিনিময় কত নিকৃষ্ট!

وإذ قلنا للملائكة اسجدوا لآدم فسجدوا إلا إبليس كان من الجن ففسق عن أمر ربه ۗ أفتتخذونه وذريته أولياء من دوني وهم لكم عدو ۚ بئس للظالمين بدلا

And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves unto Adam." So they prostrated themselves except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinn; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers).
আকাশমণ্ডলীর ও পৃথিবীর সৃষ্টিকালে আমি উহাদেরকে ডাকি নাই এবং উহাদের সৃজনকালেও নয়, আমি বিভ্রান্তকারীদেরকে সাহায্যকারীরূপে গ্রহণ করিবার নই।

۞ ما أشهدتهم خلق السماوات والأرض ولا خلق أنفسهم وما كنت متخذ المضلين عضدا

I (Allah) made them (Iblis and his offspring) not to witness (nor took their help in) the creation of the heavens and the earth and not (even) their own creation, nor was I (Allah) to take the misleaders as helpers.
এবং সেই দিনের কথা স্মরণ কর, যেদিন তিনি বলিবেন, ‘তোমরা যাহাদেরকে আমার শরীক মনে করিতে তাহাদেরকে আহ্বান কর।’ উহারা তখন তাহাদেরকে আহ্বান করিবে কিন্তু তাহারা উহাদের আহ্বানে সাড়া দিবে না এবং উহাদের উভয়ের মধ্যস্থলে রাখিয়া দিব এক ধ্বংস - গহ্বর।

ويوم يقول نادوا شركائي الذين زعمتم فدعوهم فلم يستجيبوا لهم وجعلنا بينهم موبقا

And (remember) the Day He will say: "Call those (so-called) partners of Mine whom you pretended." Then they will cry unto them, but they will not answer them, and We shall put a Maubiq (barrier) between them.
অপরাধীরা আগুন দেখিয়া বুঝিবে যে, উহারা সেখানে পতিত হইতেছে এবং উহারা উহা হইতে কোন পরিত্রাণস্থল পাইবে না।

ورأى المجرمون النار فظنوا أنهم مواقعوها ولم يجدوا عنها مصرفا

And the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners) shall see the Fire and apprehend that they have to fall therein. And they will find no way of escape from there.
যখন উহাদের নিকট পথনির্দেশ আসে তখন মানুষকে ঈমান আনা এবং তাহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিকট ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করা হইতে বিরত রাখে কেবল ইহা যে, তাহাদের নিকট পূর্ববর্তীদের বেলায় অনুসৃত রীতি আসুক অথবা আসুক তাহাদের নিকট সরাসরি আযাব।

وما منع الناس أن يؤمنوا إذ جاءهم الهدى ويستغفروا ربهم إلا أن تأتيهم سنة الأولين أو يأتيهم العذاب قبلا

And nothing prevents men from believing, (now) when the guidance (the Qur'an) has come to them, and from asking Forgiveness of their Lord, except that the ways of the ancients be repeated with them (i.e. their destruction decreed by Allah), or the torment be brought to them face to face?
আমি কেবল সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপেই রাসূলগণকে পাঠাইয়া থাকি, কিন্তু কাফিররা মিথ্যা অবলম্বনে বিতণ্ডা করে, উহা দ্বারা সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করিয়া দিবার জন্য এবং আমার নিদর্শনাবলী ও যদ্দ্বারা উহাদেরকে সতর্ক করা হইয়াছে সেই সমস্তকে উহারা বিদ্রপের বিষয়রূপে গ্রহণ করিয়া থাকে।

وما نرسل المرسلين إلا مبشرين ومنذرين ۚ ويجادل الذين كفروا بالباطل ليدحضوا به الحق ۖ واتخذوا آياتي وما أنذروا هزوا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And We send not the Messengers except as givers of glad tidings and warners. But those who disbelieve, dispute with false argument, in order to refute the truth thereby. And they treat My Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and that with which they are warned, as a jest and mockery!
কোন ব্যক্তিকে তাহার প্রতিপালকের নিদর্শনাবলী স্মরণ করাইয়া দেওয়ার পর সে যদি উহা হইতে মুখ ফিরাইয়া নেয় এবং তাহার কৃতকর্মসমূহ ভুলিয়া যায় তবে তাহার অপেক্ষা অধিক আর কে? আমি নিশ্চয়ই উহাদের অন্তরের উপর আবরণ দিয়াছি যেন উহারা কুরআন বুঝিতে না পারে এবং উহাদের কানে বধিরতা আঁটিয়া দিয়াছি। তুমি উহাদেরকে সৎপথে আহ্বান করিলেও উহারা কখনও সৎপথে আসিবে না।

ومن أظلم ممن ذكر بآيات ربه فأعرض عنها ونسي ما قدمت يداه ۚ إنا جعلنا على قلوبهم أكنة أن يفقهوه وفي آذانهم وقرا ۖ وإن تدعهم إلى الهدى فلن يهتدوا إذا أبدا

And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, but turns away from them, forgetting what (deeds) his hands have sent forth. Truly, We have set veils over their hearts lest they should understand this (the Qur'an), and in their ears, deafness. And if you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) call them to guidance, even then they will never be guided.
এবং তোমার প্রতিপালক পরম ক্ষমাশীল, দয়াবান, উহাদের কৃতকর্মের জন্য যদি তিনি উহাদেরকে পাকড়াও করিতে চাহিতেন, তবে তিনি অবশ্যই উহাদের শাস্তি ত্বরান্বিত করিতেন; কিন্তু উহাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে এক প্রতিশ্রুত মুহূর্ত, যাহা হইতে উহারা কখনই কোন আশ্রয়স্থল পাইবে না।

وربك الغفور ذو الرحمة ۖ لو يؤاخذهم بما كسبوا لعجل لهم العذاب ۚ بل لهم موعد لن يجدوا من دونه موئلا

And your Lord is Most Forgiving, Owner of Mercy. Were He to call them to account for what they have earned, then surely, He would have hastened their punishment. But they have their appointed time, beyond which they will find no escape.
স্মরণ কর, যখন মূসা তাহার সঙ্গীকে বলিয়াছিল, ‘দুই সমুদ্রের সংগমস্থলে না পৌঁছিয়া আমি থামিব না অথবা আমি যুগ যুগ ধরিয়া চলিতে থাকিব।’

وإذ قال موسى لفتاه لا أبرح حتى أبلغ مجمع البحرين أو أمضي حقبا

And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his boy-servant: "I will not give up (travelling) until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travelling."
যখন উহারা আরো অগ্রসর হইল মূসা তাহার সঙ্গীকে বলিল, ‘আমাদের প্রাতঃরাশ আন, আমরা তো আমাদের এই সফরে ক্লান্ত হইয়া পড়িয়াছি।’

فلما جاوزا قال لفتاه آتنا غداءنا لقد لقينا من سفرنا هذا نصبا

So when they had passed further on (beyond that fixed place), Musa (Moses) said to his boy-servant: "Bring us our morning meal; truly, we have suffered much fatigue in this, our journey."
সে বলিল, ‘আপনি কি লক্ষ্য করিয়াছেন, আমরা যখন শিলাখণ্ডে বিশ্রাম করিতেছিলাম তখন আমি মৎস্যের কথা ভুলিয়া গিয়াছিলাম? শয়তানই উহার কথা বলিতে আমাকে ভুলাইয়া দিয়াছিল; মৎস্যটি আশ্চর্যজনকভাবে নিজের পথ করিয়া নামিয়া গেল সমুদ্রে।’

قال أرأيت إذ أوينا إلى الصخرة فإني نسيت الحوت وما أنسانيه إلا الشيطان أن أذكره ۚ واتخذ سبيله في البحر عجبا

He said: "Do you remember when we betook ourselves to the rock? I indeed forgot the fish; none but Shaitan (Satan) made me forget to remember it. It took its course into the sea in a strange (way)!"
অতঃপর উহারা সাক্ষাৎ পাইল আমার বান্দাদের মধ্যে একজনের, যাহাকে আমি আমার নিকট হইতে অনুগ্রহ দান করিয়াছিলাম ও আমার নিকট হইতে শিক্ষা দিয়াছিলাম এক বিশেষ জ্ঞান।

فوجدا عبدا من عبادنا آتيناه رحمة من عندنا وعلمناه من لدنا علما

Then they found one of Our slaves, on whom We had bestowed mercy from Us, and whom We had taught knowledge from Us.
মূসা তাহাকে বলিল, ‘সত্য পথের যে জ্ঞান আপনাকে দান করা হইয়াছে তাহা হইতে আমাকে শিক্ষা দিবেন, এই শর্তে আমি আপনার অনুসরণ করিব কি?

قال له موسى هل أتبعك على أن تعلمن مما علمت رشدا

Musa (Moses) said to him (Khidr): "May I follow you so that you teach me something of that knowledge (guidance and true path) which you have been taught (by Allah)?"
অতঃপর উভয়ে চলিতে লাগিল, পরে যখন উহারা নৌকায় আরোহণ করিল তখন সে উহা বিদীর্ণ করিয়া দিল। মূসা বলিল, ‘আপনি কি আরোহীদেরকে নিমজ্জিত করিয়া দিবার জন্য উহা বিদীর্ণ করিলেন? আপনি তো এক গুরুতর অন্যায় কাজ করিলেন।’

فانطلقا حتى إذا ركبا في السفينة خرقها ۖ قال أخرقتها لتغرق أهلها لقد جئت شيئا إمرا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
So they both proceeded, till, when they embarked the ship, he (Khidr) scuttled it. Musa (Moses) said: "Have you scuttled it in order to drown its people? Verily, you have committed a thing "Imr" (a Munkar - evil, bad, dreadful thing)."
অতঃপর উভয়ে চলিতে লাগিল, চলিতে চলিতে উহাদের সঙ্গে এক বালকের সাক্ষাৎ হইলে সে উহাকে হত্যা করিল। তখন মূসা বলিল, ‘আপনি কি এক নিষ্পাপ জীবন নাশ করিলেন, হত্যার অপরাধ ছাড়াই? আপনি তো এক গুরুতর অন্যায় কাজ করিলেন।

فانطلقا حتى إذا لقيا غلاما فقتله قال أقتلت نفسا زكية بغير نفس لقد جئت شيئا نكرا
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Then they both proceeded, till they met a boy, and he (Khidr) killed him. Musa (Moses) said: "Have you killed an innocent person who had killed none? Verily, you have committed a thing Nukr (a great Munkar - prohibited, evil, dreadful thing)!"
অতঃপর উভয়ে চলিতে লাগিল; চলিতে চলিতে উহারা এক জনপদের অধিবাসীদের নিকট পৌঁছিয়া তাহাদের নিকট খাদ্য চাহিল; কিন্তু তাহারা তাহাদের মেহমানদারী করিতে অস্বীকার করিল। অতঃপর সেখানে তাহারা এক পতনোন্মুখ প্রাচীর দেখিতে পাইল এবং সে উহাকে সুদৃঢ় করিয়া দিল। মূসা বলিল, ‘আপনি তো ইচ্ছা করিলে ইহার জন্য পারিশ্রমিক গ্রহণ করিতে পারিতেন।’

فانطلقا حتى إذا أتيا أهل قرية استطعما أهلها فأبوا أن يضيفوهما فوجدا فيها جدارا يريد أن ينقض فأقامه ۖ قال لو شئت لاتخذت عليه أجرا

Then they both proceeded, till, when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them. Then they found therein a wall about to collapse and he (Khidr) set it up straight. [Musa (Moses)] said: If you had wished, surely, you could have taken wages for it!"
সে বলিল, ‘এইখানেই আপনার এবং আমার মধ্যে সম্পর্কচ্ছেদ হইল, যে বিষয়ে আপনি ধৈর্য ধারণ করিতে পারেন নাই আমি তাহার তাৎপর্য ব্যাখ্যা করিতেছি।

قال هذا فراق بيني وبينك ۚ سأنبئك بتأويل ما لم تستطع عليه صبرا

(Khidr) said: "This is the parting between me and you, I will tell you the interpretation of (those) things over which you were unable to hold patience.
‘নৌকাটির ব্যাপার - ইহা ছিল কতিপয় দরিদ্র ব্যক্তির, উহারা সমুদ্রে জীবিকা অন্বেষণ করিত; আমি, ইচ্ছা করিলাম নৌকাটিকে ত্রুটিযুক্ত করিতে; কারণ উহাদের পশ্চাতে ছিল এক রাজা, যে বলপ্রয়োগে নৌকাসকল ছিনাইয়া লইত।

أما السفينة فكانت لمساكين يعملون في البحر فأردت أن أعيبها وكان وراءهم ملك يأخذ كل سفينة غصبا

"As for the ship, it belonged to Masakin (poor people) working in the sea. So I wished to make a defective damage in it, as there was a king behind them who seized every ship by force.
‘আর ঐ প্রাচীরটি, ইহা ছিল নগরবাসী দুই পিতৃহীন কিশোরের, ইহার নিম্নদেশে আছে উহাদের গুপ্তধন এবং উহাদের পিতা ছিল সৎকর্মপরায়ণ। সুতরাং আপনার প্রতিপালক দয়াপরবশ হইয়া ইচ্ছা করিলেন যে, উহারা বয়ঃপ্রাপ্ত হউক এবং উহারা উহাদের ধনভাণ্ডার উদ্ধার করুক। আমি নিজ হইতে কিছু করি নাই; আপনি যে বিষয়ে ধৈর্য ধারণে অপারগ হইয়াছিলেন, ইহাই তাহার ব্যাখ্যা।’

وأما الجدار فكان لغلامين يتيمين في المدينة وكان تحته كنز لهما وكان أبوهما صالحا فأراد ربك أن يبلغا أشدهما ويستخرجا كنزهما رحمة من ربك ۚ وما فعلته عن أمري ۚ ذلك تأويل ما لم تسطع عليه صبرا

"And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town; and there was under it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man, and your Lord intended that they should attain their age of full strength and take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord. And I did them not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of those (things) over which you could not hold patience."
চলিতে চলিতে সে যখন সূর্যের অস্তগমন স্থানে পৌঁছিল তখন সে সূর্যকে এক পংকিল জলাশয়ে অস্তগমন করিতে দেখিল এবং সে সেখানে এক সম্প্রদায়কে দেখিতে পাইল। আমি বলিলাম, ‘হে যুল - কার্নাইন! তুমি ইহাদেরকে শাস্তি দিতে পার অথবা ইহাদের ব্যাপার সদয়ভাবে গ্রহণ করিতে পার।’

حتى إذا بلغ مغرب الشمس وجدها تغرب في عين حمئة ووجد عندها قوما ۗ قلنا يا ذا القرنين إما أن تعذب وإما أن تتخذ فيهم حسنا

Until, when he reached the setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water. And he found near it a people. We (Allah) said (by inspiration): "O Dhul-Qarnain! Either you punish them, or treat them with kindness."
সে বলিল, ‘যে কেহ সীমালংঘন করিবে আমি তাহাকে শাস্তি দিব, অতঃপর সে তাহার প্রতিপালকের নিকট প্রত্যাবর্তিত হইবে এবং তিনি তাহাকে কঠিন শাস্তি দিবেন।

قال أما من ظلم فسوف نعذبه ثم يرد إلى ربه فيعذبه عذابا نكرا

He said: "As for him (a in the Oneness of Allah) who does wrong, we shall punish him, and then he will be brought back unto his Lord, Who will punish him with a terrible torment (Hell).
‘তবে যে ঈমান আনে এবং সৎকর্ম করে তাহার জন্য প্রতিদানস্বরূপ আছে কল্যাণ এবং তাহার প্রতি ব্যবহারে আমি নম্র কথা বলিব।’

وأما من آمن وعمل صالحا فله جزاء الحسنى ۖ وسنقول له من أمرنا يسرا

"But as for him who believes (in Allah's Oneness) and works righteousness, he shall have the best reward, (Paradise), and we (Dhul-Qarnain) shall speak unto him mild words (as instructions)."
চলিতে চলিতে যখন সে সূর্যোদয় - স্থলে পৌঁছিল তখন সে দেখিল উহা এমন এক সম্প্রদায়ের উপর উদয় হইতেছে যাহাদের জন্য সূর্যতাপ হইতে কোন অন্তরাল আমি সৃষ্টি করি নাই;

Until, when he came to the rising place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We (Allah) had provided no shelter against the sun.
উহারা বলিল, ‘হে যুল - কার্নাইন! ইয়াজূজ ও মাজূজ তো পৃথিবীতে অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করিতেছে। আমরা কি আপনাকে খরচ দিব যে, আপনি আমাদের ও উহাদের মধ্যে এক প্রাচীর গড়িয়া দিবেন’?

قالوا يا ذا القرنين إن يأجوج ومأجوج مفسدون في الأرض فهل نجعل لك خرجا على أن تجعل بيننا وبينهم سدا

They said: "O Dhul-Qarnain! Verily Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) are doing great mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute in order that you might erect a barrier between us and them?"
সে বলিল, ‘আমার প্রতিপালক আমাকে এই বিষয়ে যে ক্ষমতা দিয়াছেন, তাহাই উৎকৃষ্ট। সুতরাং তোমরা আমাকে শ্রম দ্বারা সাহায্য কর, আমি তোমাদের ও উহাদের মধ্যস্থলে এক মযবুত প্রাচীর গড়িয়া দিব।

قال ما مكني فيه ربي خير فأعينوني بقوة أجعل بينكم وبينهم ردما

He said: "That (wealth, authority and power) in which my Lord had established me is better (than your tribute). So help me with strength (of men), I will erect between you and them a barrier.
‘তোমরা আমার নিকট লৌহপিণ্ডসমূহ আনয়ন কর’, অতঃপর মধ্যবর্তী ফাঁকা স্থান পূর্ণ হইয়া যখন লৌহস্তূপ দুই পর্বতের সমান হইল তখন সে বলিল, ‘তোমরা হাঁপরে দম দিতে থাক।’ যখন উহা অগ্নিবৎ উত্তপ্ত হইল, তখন সে বলিল, ‘তোমরা গলিত তাম্র আনয়ন কর, আমি উহা ঢালিয়া দেই ইহার উপর।’

آتوني زبر الحديد ۖ حتى إذا ساوى بين الصدفين قال انفخوا ۖ حتى إذا جعله نارا قال آتوني أفرغ عليه قطرا

"Give me pieces (blocks) of iron;" then, when he had filled up the gap between the two mountain-cliffs, he said: "Blow;" then when he had made them (red as) fire, he said: "Bring me molten copper to pour over them."
সে বলিল, ‘ইহা আমার প্রতিপালকের অনুগ্রহ। যখন আমার প্রতিপালকের প্রতিশ্রুতি পূর্ণ হইবে তখন তিনি উহাকে চূর্ণ - বিচূর্ণ করিয়া দিবেন এবং আমার প্রতিপালকের প্রতিশ্রুতি সত্য।’

قال هذا رحمة من ربي ۖ فإذا جاء وعد ربي جعله دكاء ۖ وكان وعد ربي حقا

(Dhul-Qarnain) said: "This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the Promise of my Lord comes, He shall level it down to the ground. And the Promise of my Lord is ever true."
সেই দিন আমি উহাদেরকে ছাড়িয়া দিব এই অবস্থায় যে, একদল আর একদলের উপর তরঙ্গের ন্যায় পতিত হইবে এবং শিংগায় ফুৎকার দেওয়া হইবে। অতঃপর আমি উহাদের সকলকেই একত্র করিব।

۞ وتركنا بعضهم يومئذ يموج في بعض ۖ ونفخ في الصور فجمعناهم جمعا

And on that Day [i.e. the Day Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) will come out], We shall leave them to surge like waves on one another; and the Trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them (the creatures) all together.
যাহারা করিয়াছে তাহারা কি মনে করে যে, তাহারা আমার পরিবর্তে আমার বান্দাদেরকে অভিভাবকরূপে গ্রহণ করিবে? নিশ্চয়ই আমি কাফিরদের আপ্যায়নের জন্য প্রস্তুত রাখিয়াছি জাহান্নাম।

أفحسب الذين كفروا أن يتخذوا عبادي من دوني أولياء ۚ إنا أعتدنا جهنم للكافرين نزلا

Do then those who disbelieved think that they can take My slaves [i.e., the angels, Allah's Messengers, 'Îsa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] as Auliya' (lords, gods, protectors) besides Me? Verily, We have prepared Hell as an entertainment for the disbelievers (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) .
‘উহারাই তাহারা, যাহারা অস্বীকার করে উহাদের প্রতিপালকের নিদর্শনাবলী ও তাঁহার সঙ্গে উহাদের সাক্ষাতের বিষয়। ফলে উহাদের কর্ম নিষ্ফল হইয়া যায়; সুতরাং কিয়ামতের দিন উহাদের জন্য ওজনের কোন ব্যবস্থা রাখিব না।

أولئك الذين كفروا بآيات ربهم ولقائه فحبطت أعمالهم فلا نقيم لهم يوم القيامة وزنا

"They are those who deny the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and the Meeting with Him (in the Hereafter). So their works are in vain, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall assign no weight for them.
‘জাহান্নাম - ইহাই উহাদের প্রতিফল, যেহেতু উহারা করিয়াছে এবং আমার নিদর্শনাবলী ও রাসূলগণকে গ্রহণ করিয়াছে বিদ্রপের বিষয়স্বরূপ।’

ذلك جزاؤهم جهنم بما كفروا واتخذوا آياتي ورسلي هزوا

"That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took My Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and My Messengers by way of jest and mockery.
যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে তাহাদের আপ্যায়নের জন্য আছে ফিরদাওসের উদ্যান,

"Verily those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous deeds, shall have the Gardens of Al-Firdaus (Paradise) for their entertainment.
সেখানে উহারা স্থায়ী হইবে, উহা হইতে স্থানান্তর কামনা করিবে না।

قل لو كان البحر مدادا لكلمات ربي لنفد البحر قبل أن تنفد كلمات ربي ولو جئنا بمثله مددا

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): "If the sea were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, surely, the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished, even if We brought (another sea) like it for its aid."
বল, ‘আমি তো তোমাদের মত একজন মানুষই, আমার প্রতি প্রত্যাদেশ হয় যে, তোমাদের ইলাহ্ একমাত্র ইলাহ্। সুতরাং যে তাহার প্রতিপালকের সাক্ষাৎ কামনা করে, সে যেন সৎকর্ম করে ও তাহার প্রতিপালকের ‘ইবাদতে কাহাকেও শরীক না করে।’

قل إنما أنا بشر مثلكم يوحى إلي أنما إلهكم إله واحد ۖ فمن كان يرجو لقاء ربه فليعمل عملا صالحا ولا يشرك بعبادة ربه أحدا

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God - i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord."
