Chapter 15, 99 verses
আলিফ - লাম - রা, এইগুলি আয়াত মহাগ্রন্থের, সুস্পষ্ট কুরআনের।
A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation, - of a Qur'an that makes things clear.
الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
কখনও কখনও কাফিররা আকাঙ্ক্ষা করিবে যে, তাহারা যদি মুসলিম হইত!
Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam.
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ
উহাদেরকে ছাড়, উহারা খাইতে থাকুক, ভোগ করিতে থাকুক এবং আশা উহাদেরকে মোহাচ্ছন্ন রাখুক; অচিরেই উহারা জানিতে পারিবে।
Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا۟ وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَيُلْهِهِمُ ٱلْأَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
আমি যে কোন জনপদকে ধ্বংস করিয়াছি তাহার জন্য ছিল একটি নির্দিষ্ট লিপিবদ্ধ কাল।
Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand.
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
কোন জাতি তাহার নির্দিষ্ট কালকে ত্বরান্নিত করিতে পারে না, বিলম্বিতও করিতে পারে না।
Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
উহারা বলে, ‘ওহে, যাহার প্রতি কুরআন অবতীর্ণ হইয়াছে! তুমি তো নিশ্চয় উন্মাদ।
They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)!
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
‘তুমি সত্যবাদী হইলে আমাদের নিকট ফিরিশ্তাগণকে উপস্থিত করিতেছ না কেন?’
"Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?"
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
আমি ফিরিশ্তাগণকে প্রেরণ করি না যথার্থ কারণ ব্যতীত; ফিরিশ্তাগণ উপস্থিত হইলে উহারা অবকাশ পাইবে না।
We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
আমিই কুরআন অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছি এবং অবশ্য আমিই উহার সংরক্ষক।
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
তোমার পূর্বে আমি আগেকার অনেক সম্প্রদায়ের নিকট রাসূল পাঠাইয়াছিলাম।
We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
তাহাদের নিকট আসে নাই এমন কোন রাসূল যাহাকে তাহারা ঠাট্টা - বিদ্রপ করিত না।
But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
এইভাবে আমি অপরাধীদের অন্তরে উহা সঞ্চার করি,
Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners -
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
ইহারা কুরআনের প্রতি ঈমান আনিবে না এবং অতীতে পূর্ববর্তীদেরও এই আচরণ ছিল।
That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
যদি উহাদের জন্য আকাশের দুয়ার খুলিয়া দেই এবং উহারা সারাদিন উহাতে আরোহণ করিতে থাকে,
Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
তবুও উহারা বলিবে, ‘আমাদের দৃষ্টি সম্মোহিত করা হইয়াছে; না, বরং আমরা এক জাদুগ্রস্ত সম্প্রদায়।’
They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery."
لَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُورُونَ
আমি আকাশে গ্রহ - নক্ষত্র সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি এবং উহাকে সুশোভিত করিয়াছি দর্শকদের জন্য;
It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair - seeming to (all) beholders;
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ
এবং প্রত্যেক অভিশপ্ত শয়তান হইতে আমি উহাকে রক্ষা করিয়া থাকি;
And (moreover) We have guarded them from every cursed devil:
وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
কিন্তু কেহ চুরি করিয়া সংবাদ শুনিতে চাহিলে উহার পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে প্রদীপ্ত শিখা।
But any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a flaming fire, bright (to see).
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
আর পৃথিবী, উহাকে আমি বিস্তৃত করিয়াছি, উহাতে পর্বতমালা স্থাপন করিয়াছি; এবং আমি উহাতে প্রত্যেক বস্তু উদ্গত করিয়াছি সুপরিমিতভাবে,
And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
এবং উহাতে জীবিকার ব্যবস্থা করিয়াছি তোমাদের জন্য, আর তোমরা যাহাদের জীবিকাদাতা নও তাহাদের জন্যও।
And We have provided therein means of subsistence, - for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible.
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
আমারই নিকট আছে প্রত্যেক বস্তুর ভাণ্ডার এবং আমি উহা পরিজ্ঞাত পরিমাণেই সরবরাহ করিয়া থাকি।
And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.
وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
আমি বৃষ্টি - গর্ভ বায়ু প্রেরণ করি, অতঃপর আকাশ হইতে বারি বর্ষণ করি এবং উহা তোমাদেরকে পান করিতে দেই; আর তোমরা উহার ভাণ্ডার রক্ষক নও।
And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.
وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ
আমিই জীবন দান করি ও মৃত্যু ঘটাই এবং আমিই চূড়ান্ত মালিকানার অধিকারী।
And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْىِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
তোমাদের মধ্য হইতে পূর্বে যাহারা গত হইয়াছে আমি তাহাদেরকে জানি এবং পরে যাহারা আসিবে তাহাদেরকেও জানি।
To Us are known those of you who hasten forward, and those who lag behind.
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ
তোমার প্রতিপালকই উহাদেরকে সমবেত করিবেন; তিনি তো প্রজ্ঞাময়, সর্বজ্ঞ।
Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
আমি তো মানুষ সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি গন্ধযুক্ত কর্দমের শুষ্ক ঠন্ঠনা মৃত্তিকা হইতে,
We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
এবং ইহার পূর্বে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি জিন অত্যুষ্ণ অগ্নি হইতে।
And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.
وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ
স্মরণ কর, যখন তোমার প্রতিপালক ফিরিশ্তাগণকে বলিলেন, ‘আমি গন্ধযুক্ত কর্দমের শুষ্ক ঠন্ঠনা মৃত্তিকা হইতে মানুষ সৃষ্টি করিতেছি;
Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
‘যখন আমি উহাকে সুঠাম করিব এবং উহাতে আমার পক্ষ হইতে রূহ্ সঞ্চার করিব তখন তোমরা উহার প্রতি সিজ্দাবনত হইও’,
"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ
তখন ফিরিশ্তাগণ সকলেই একত্রে সিজ্দা করিল,
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
ইবলীস ব্যতীত, সে সিজ্দাকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইতে অস্বীকার করিল।
Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
বলিলেন, ‘হে ইব্লিস তোমার কি হইল যে, তুমি সিজ্দাকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইলে না?’
(Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"
قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
সে বলিল, ‘আপনি গন্ধযুক্ত কর্দমের শুষ্ক ঠন্ঠনা মৃত্তিকা হইতে যে মানুষ সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন আমি তাহাকে সিজ্দা করিবার নহি।’
(Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
তিনি বলিলেন, ‘তবে তুমি এখান হইতে বাহির হইয়া যাও, কারণ তুমি তো অভিশপ্ত;
(Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
‘এবং কর্মফল দিবস পর্যন্ত অবশ্যই তোমার প্রতি রহিল লা‘নত।’
"And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ ٱللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
সে বলিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! পুনরুত্থান দিবস পর্যন্ত আমাকে অবকাশ দিন।’
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
তিনি বলিলেন, ‘যাহাদেরকে অবকাশ দেওয়া হইয়াছে তুমি তাহাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হইলে,
(Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
‘অবধারিত সময় উপস্থিত হওয়ার দিন পর্যন্ত।’
"Till the Day of the Time appointed."
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
সে বলিল, ‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! আপনি যে আমাকে বিপথগামী করিলেন তজ্জন্য আমি পৃথিবীতে মানুষের নিকট পাপকর্মকে অবশ্যই শোভন করিয়া তুলিব এবং আমি উহাদের সকলকেই বিপথগামী করিব,
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair - seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong, -
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘তবে উহাদের মধ্যে আপনার নির্বাচিত বান্দাগণ ব্যতীত।’
"Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
বলিলেন, ‘ইহাই আমার নিকট পৌঁছিবার সরল পথ,
(Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.
قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
‘বিভ্রান্তদের মধ্যে যাহারা তোমার অনুসরণ করিবে তাহারা ব্যতীত আমার বান্দাদের উপর তোমার কোনই ক্ষমতা থাকিবে না;
"For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ
‘অবশ্যই জাহান্নাম তাহাদের সকলেরই প্রতিশ্রুত স্থান,
And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all!
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘উহার সাতটি দরজা আছে, প্রত্যেক দরজার জন্য পৃথক পৃথক শ্রেণী আছে।’
To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ
মুত্তাকীরা থাকিবে জান্নাতে ও প্রস্রবণসমূহের মধ্যে।
The righteous (will be) amid gardens and fountains (of clear - flowing water).
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
তাহাদেরকে বলা হইবে, ‘তোমরা শান্তি ও নিরাপত্তার সঙ্গে উহাতে প্রবেশ কর।’
(Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."
ٱدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ
আমি তাহাদের অন্তর হইতে বিদ্বেষ দূর করিব; তাহারা ভ্রাতৃভাবে পরস্পর মুখোমুখি হইয়া আসনে অবস্থান করিবে,
And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity).
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
সেখানে তাহাদেরকে অবসাদ স্পর্শ করিবে না এবং তাহারা সেই স্থান হইতে বহিষ্কৃতও হইবে না।
There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
আমার বান্দাদেরকে বলিয়া দাও যে, আমি তো পরম ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু,
Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft - forgiving, Most Merciful;
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِىٓ أَنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
এবং আমার শাস্তি - উহা অতি মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি!
And that My Penalty will be indeed the most grievous Penalty.
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ
আর উহাদেরকে বল, ইব্রাহীমের অতিথিদের কথা,
Tell them about the guests of Abraham.
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
যখন উহারা তাহার নিকট উপস্থিত হইয়া বলিল, ‘সালাম’, তখন সে বলিয়াছিল, ‘আমরা তো তোমাদের আগমনে আতঙ্কিত।’
When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
উহারা বলিল, ‘ভয় করিও না, আমরা তো তোমাকে এক জ্ঞানী পুত্রের শুভ সংবাদ দিতেছি।’
They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ
সে বলিল, ‘তোমরা কি আমাকে শুভ সংবাদ দিতেছ আমি বার্ধক্যগ্রস্ত হওয়া সত্ত্বেও? তোমরা কী বিষয়ে শুভ সংবাদ দিতেছ?’
He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?"
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
উহারা বলিল, ‘আমরা তোমাকে সত্য সংবাদ দিতেছি; সুতরাং তুমি হতাশ হইও না।’
They said: "We give thee glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair!"
قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْقَٰنِطِينَ
সে বলিল, ‘যাহারা পথভ্রষ্ট তাহারা ব্যতীত আর কে তাহার প্রতিপালকের অনুগ্রহ হইতে হতাশ হয়?’
He said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?"
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
সে বলিল, ‘হে ফিরিশ্তাগণ! তোমাদের আর বিশেষ কি কাজ আছে?’
Abraham said: "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah)?"
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
উহারা বলিল, ‘আমাদেরকে এক অপরাধী সম্প্রদায়ের বিরুদ্ধে প্রেরণ করা হইয়াছে -
They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
‘তবে লূতের পরিবারবর্গের বিরুদ্ধে নয়, আমরা অবশ্যই ইহাদের সকলকে রক্ষা করিব,
"Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm), - All -
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘কিন্তু তাহার স্ত্রীকে নহে; আমরা স্থির করিয়াছি যে, সে অবশ্যই পশ্চাতে অবস্থানকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।’
"Except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind."
إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
ফিরিশ্তাগণ যখন লূত - পরিবারের নিকট আসিল,
At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut,
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
তখন লূত বলিল, ‘তোমরা তো অপরিচিত লোক।’
He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
তাহারা বলিল, ‘না, উহারা যে বিষয়ে সন্দিগ্ধ ছিল আমরা তোমার নিকট তাহাই লইয়া আসিয়াছি;
They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt.
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
‘আমরা তোমার নিকট সত্য সংবাদ লইয়া আসিয়াছি এবং অবশ্যই আমরা সত্যবাদী;
"We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.
وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
‘সুতরাং তুমি রাত্রির কোন এক সময়ে তোমার পরিবারবর্গসহ বাহির হইয়া পড় এবং তুমি তাহাদের পশ্চাদনুসরণ কর এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে কেহ যেন পিছন দিকে না তাকায়; তোমাদেরকে যেখানে যাইতে বলা হইতেছে তোমরা সেখানে চলিয়া যাও।’
"Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
আমি তাহাকে এই বিষয়ে ফায়সালা জানাইয়া দিলাম যে, প্রত্যূষে উহাদেরকে সমূলে বিনাশ করা হইবে।
And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.
وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
নগরবাসিগন উল্লসিত হইয়া উপস্থিত হইল।
The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).
وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
সে বলিল, ‘উহারা আমার অতিথি; সুতরাং তোমরা আমাকে বেইয্যত করিও না।
Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not:
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
‘তোমরা কে ভয় কর ও আমাকে হেয় করিও না।’
"But fear Allah, and shame me not."
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
উহারা বলিল, ‘আমরা কি দুনিয়াসুদ্ধ লোককে আশ্রয় দিতে তোমাকে নিষেধ করি নাই?’
They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?"
قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
লূত বলিল, ‘একান্তই যদি তোমরা কিছু করিতে চাও তবে আমার এই কন্যাগণ রহিয়াছে।’
He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."
قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ
তোমার জীবনের শপথ, উহারা তো মত্ততায় বিমূঢ় হইয়াছে।
Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro.
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
অতঃপর সূর্যোদয়ের সময়ে মহানাদ উহাদেরকে আঘাত করিল;
But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
আর আমি জনপদকে উল্টাইয়া উপর নীচ করিয়া দিলাম এবং উহাদের উপর প্রস্তর - কংকর বর্ষণ করিলাম।
And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.
فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
অবশ্যই ইহাতে নিদর্শন রহিয়াছে পর্যবেক্ষণ - শক্তিসম্পন্ন ব্যক্তিদের জন্য।
Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
উহা তো লোক চলাচলের পথিপার্শ্বে এখনও বিদ্যমান।
And the (cities were) right on the high - road.
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
অবশ্যই ইহাতে মু’মিনদের জন্য রহিয়াছে নিদর্শন।
Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
আর ‘আয়কা’বাসীরাও তো ছিল সীমালংঘনকারী,
And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong - doers;
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ
সুতরাং আমি উহাদেরকে শাস্তি দিয়াছি, অবশ্য উভয়টিই প্রকাশ্য পথিপার্শ্বে অবস্থিত।
So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see.
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
হিজরবাসিগণও রাসূলদের প্রতি মিথ্যা আরোপ করিয়াছিল;
The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers:
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْحِجْرِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
আমি উহাদেরকে আমার নিদর্শন দিয়াছিলাম, কিন্তু উহারা তাহা উপেক্ষা করিয়াছিল।
We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them.
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
উহারা পাহাড় কাটিয়া গৃহ নির্মাণ করিত নিরাপদ বাসের জন্য।
Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.
وَكَانُوا۟ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ
অতঃপর প্রভাতকালে মহানাদ উহাদেরকে আঘাত করিল।
But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning,
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
সুতরাং উহারা যাহা অর্জন করিত তাহা উহাদের কোন কাজে আসে নাই।
And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!
فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী এবং উহাদের অন্তর্বর্তী কোন কিছুই আমি অযথা সৃষ্টি করি নাই এবং কিয়ামত অবশ্যম্ভাবী। সুতরাং তুমি পরম সৌজন্যের সঙ্গে উহাদেরকে ক্ষমা কর।
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
নিশ্চয়ই তোমার প্রতিপালক মহাস্রষ্টা, মহাজ্ঞানী।
For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master - Creator, knowing all things.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
আমি তো তোমাকে দিয়াছি সাত আয়াত যাহা পুনঃ পুনঃ আবৃত্ত হয় এবং দিয়াছি মহান কুরআন।
And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft - repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ
আমি তাহাদের বিভিন্ন শ্রেণীকে ভোগ - বিলাসের যে উপকরণ দিয়াছি, তাহার প্রতি তুমি কখনও তোমার চক্ষুদ্বয় প্রসারিত করিও না। তাহাদের জন্য তুমি দুঃখ করিও না; তুমি মু’মিনদের জন্য তোমার পক্ষপুট অবনমিত কর,
Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
এবং বল, ‘আমি তো কেবল এক প্রকাশ্য সতর্ককারী।’
And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity," -
وَقُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
যেভাবে আমি অবতীর্ণ করিয়াছিলাম বিভক্তকারীদের উপর;
(Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts), -
كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
যাহারা কুরআনকে বিভিন্নভাবে বিভক্ত করিয়াছে।
(So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please).
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ
সুতরাং শপথ তোমার প্রতিপালকের! আমি উহাদের সকলকে প্রশ্ন করিবই,
Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
সেই বিষয়ে, যাহা উহারা করে।
For all their deeds.
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
অতএব তুমি যে বিষয়ে আদিষ্ট হইয়াছ তাহা প্রকাশ্যে প্রচার কর এবং মুশরিকদেরকে উপেক্ষা কর।
Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.
فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
আমিই যথেষ্ট তোমার জন্য বিদ্রূপকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে,
For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff, -
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
যাহারা র সঙ্গে অপর ইলাহ্ নির্ধারণ করিয়াছে। সুতরাং শীঘ্রই ইহারা জানিতে পারিবে।
Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
আমি তো জানি, উহারা যাহা বলে তাহাতে তোমার অন্তর সংকুচিত হয়;
We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
সুতরাং তুমি তোমার প্রতিপালকের সপ্রশংস পবিত্রতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণা কর এবং তুমি সিজ্দাকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হও;
But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
তোমার মৃত্যু উপস্থিত হওয়া পর্যন্ত তুমি তোমার প্রতিপালকের ‘ইবাদত কর।
And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain.
وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
