মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন সূর্য আলোহীন হয়ে যাবে,
জহুরুল হক
যখন সূর্য অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন হয়ে যাবে,

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. When the sun is wound round and its light is lost and is overthrown.

যখন নক্ষত্র মলিন হয়ে যাবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন তারকারা নিস্তেজ হয়ে পড়বে,

وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ

And when the stars fall.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন পর্বতমালা অপসারিত হবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন পাহাড়গুলোকে অপসারণ করা হবে,

وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

And when the mountains are made to pass away;
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন দশ মাসের গর্ভবতী উষ্ট্রীসমূহ উপেক্ষিত হবে;
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন পূর্ণ - গর্ভা উষ্টীদের পরিত্যাগ করা হবে;

وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

And when the pregnant she-camels are neglected;

যখন বন্য পশুরা একত্রিত হয়ে যাবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন বন্য পশুদের সমবেত করা হবে,

وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

And when the wild beasts are gathered together.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন সমুদ্রকে উত্তাল করে তোলা হবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন সাগর - নদী ফেঁপে উঠবে,

وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

And when the seas become as blazing Fire or overflow.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন আত্মাসমূহকে যুগল করা হবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন মনপ্রাণকে একতাবদ্ধ করা হবে,

وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

And when the souls are joined with their bodies, (the good with the good and the bad with the bad).

যখন জীবন্ত প্রোথিত কন্যাকে জিজ্ঞেস করা হবে,

আর যখন জীবন্ত - প্রোথিত কন্যাসন্তানকে প্রশ্ন করা হবে - -

وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ

And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) is questioned:

কি অপরাধে তাকে হত্য করা হল?
জহুরুল হক
''কোন অপরাধে তাকে হত্যা করা হয়েছিল’’?

بِأَيِّ ذَنبٍ قُتِلَتْ

For what sin, was she killed?
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন আমলনামা খোলা হবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন পৃষ্ঠাগুলো খুলে ধরা হবে,

وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

And when the (written) pages [of deeds (good and bad) of every person] are laid open.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন আকাশের আবরণ অপসারিত হবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন আকাশের ঢাকনি খুলে ফেলা হবে,

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ

And when the heaven is stripped off and taken away from its place;
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
যখন জাহান্নামের অগ্নি করা হবে

আর যখন ভয়ংকর আগুন জ্বালিয়ে তোলা হবে,

وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

And when Hell-fire is set ablaze.

এবং যখন জান্নাত সন্নিকটবর্তী হবে,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন বেহেশতকে নিকটে আনা হবে, - -

وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

And when Paradise is brought near.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
তখন প্রত্যেকেই জেনে নিবে সে কি উপস্থিত করেছে।

সত্ত্বা জানতে পারবে কী সে হাজির করেছে।

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ

(Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
আমি শপথ করি যেসব নক্ষত্রগুলো পশ্চাতে সরে যায়।

কাজেই না, আমি সাক্ষী মানছি গ্রহ - নক্ষত্রদের - -

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ

So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).

চলমান হয় ও হয়,
জহুরুল হক
যারা চলে থাকে, হয়ে যায়,

الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ

And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves.

শপথ নিশাবসান ও
জহুরুল হক
আর রাত্রিকে যখন তা বিগত হয়ে যায়,

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

And by the night as it departs.

প্রভাত আগমন কালের,
জহুরুল হক
আর প্রভাতকে যখন তা উজ্জ্বল হতে থাকে,

وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

And by the dawn as it brightens.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
নিশ্চয় কোরআন সম্মানিত রসূলের আনীত বাণী,
জহুরুল হক
নিঃসন্দেহ এ তো হচ্ছে এক সম্মানিত রসূলের বাণী - -

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Verily, this is the Word (this Qur'an brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibril (Gabril), from Allah to Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم].

যিনি শক্তিশালী, আরশের মালিকের নিকট মর্যাদাশালী,
জহুরুল হক
শক্তির অধিকারী, আরশের অধীশ্বরের সামনে অধিষ্ঠিত,

ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Owner of power, (and high rank) with (Allah), the Lord of the Throne,

সবার মান্যবর, সেখানকার বিশ্বাসভাজন।
জহুরুল হক
যাঁকে মেনে চলতে হয়, আর যিনি বিশ্বাসভাজন।

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Obeyed (by the angels in the heavens), and trustworthy.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
এবং তোমাদের সাথী পাগল নন।
জহুরুল হক
আর তোমাদের সাথী তো পাগল নন।

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And (O people) your companion (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is not a madman.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
তিনি সেই ফেরেশতাকে প্রকাশ্য দিগন্তে দেখেছেন।
জহুরুল হক
আর তিনি তো নিজেকে দেখেছিলেন স্পষ্ট দিগন্তে;

وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ

And indeed he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw him [Jibril (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east).

তিনি বিষয় বলতে কৃপনতা করেন না।
জহুরুল হক
আর তিনি - সন্বন্ধে কৃপণ নন,

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ

And he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) withholds not a knowledge of the Unseen.

এটা বিতাড়িত শয়তানের উক্তি নয়।
জহুরুল হক
আর এটি কোনো বিতাড়িত শয়তানের বক্তব্য নয়।

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَّجِيمٍ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And it (the Qur'an) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan).

অতএব, তোমরা কোথায় যাচ্ছ?

তোমরা তাহলে কোন দিকে চলেছ?

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ

Then where are you going?

এটা তো কেবল বিশ্বাবাসীদের জন্যে উপদেশ,
জহুরুল হক
এটি আলবৎ বিশ্ববাসীর জন্য স্মরণীয় বার্তা বৈ তো নয়, - -

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
Verily, this (the Qur'an) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinn)

তার জন্যে, যে তোমাদের মধ্যে সোজা চলতে চায়।
জহুরুল হক
তোমাদের মধ্যেকার তার জন্য যে সহজ - সঠিক পথে চলতে চায়।

لِمَن شَاءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight.
মুহিউদ্দীন খান
তোমরা রাব্বুল আলামীনের অভিপ্রায়ের বাইরে অন্য কিছুই ইচ্ছা করতে পার না।
জহুরুল হক
আর বিশ্বজগতের প্রভু যা চান তা ব্যতীত তোমরা অন্য কোনো - কিছু চাইবে না।

وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Hilali & Muhsin Khan
And you cannot will unless (it be) that Allah wills - the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
