Chapter 43, 89 verses
হা মীম!
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
Ha Mim.
حمٓ
সুস্পষ্ট গ্রন্থখানা সন্বন্ধে ভেবে দেখো - -
By the manifest Book (i.e. this Qur'an that makes things clear).
I swear by the Book that makes things clear:
وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা এটিকে এক আরবী ভাষণ করেছি যেন তোমরা বুঝতে পারো।
Verily, We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions).
Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand.
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
আর নিঃসন্দেহ এটি রয়েছে আমাদের কাছে আদিগ্রন্থে, মহোচ্চ, জ্ঞানসমৃদ্ধ।
And verily, it (this Qur'an) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), with Us, indeed exalted, full of wisdom.
And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom.
وَإِنَّهُۥ فِىٓ أُمِّ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِىٌّ حَكِيمٌ
কী! আমরা কি তোমাদের থেকে স্মারক গ্রন্থখানা সর্বতোভাবে সরিয়ে নেব যেহেতু তোমরা হচ্ছ এক সীমালংঘনকারী জাতি?
Shall We then (warn you not and) take away the Reminder (this Qur'an) from you, because you are a people Musrifun.
What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people?
أَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنكُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَ صَفْحًا أَن كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّسْرِفِينَ
আর নবীদের কতজনকে যে আমরা পূর্ববর্তীদের কাছে পাঠিয়েছিলাম?
And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old.
And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients.
وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن نَّبِىٍّ فِى ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
আর নবীদের এমন কেউ তাদের কাছে আসেন নি যাঁকে তারা বিদ্রূপ না করত।
And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him.
And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
তারপর এদের চাইতে বলবীর্যে বেশী শক্তিশালীদেরও আমরা ধ্বংস করেছিলাম, আর পূর্ববর্তীদের দৃষ্টান্ত অতীতে রয়েছে।
Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these - and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them).
Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before,
فَأَهْلَكْنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
আর তুমি যদি তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা কর - - ''কে মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছেন?’’ - - তারা নিশ্চয়ই বলবে - - ''এগুলো সৃষ্টি করেছেন মহাশক্তিশালী সর্বজ্ঞাতা - -
And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them."
And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them;
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
যিনি তোমাদের জন্য পৃথিবীকে করেছেন এক খাটিয়া, আর এতে তৈরী করেছেন তোমাদের কারণে পথসমূহ, যাতে তোমরা পথের দিশা পেতে পার,
Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way.
He Who made the earth a resting - place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright;
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
আর যিনি আকাশ থেকে পানি বর্ষণ করেন পরিমাপ মতো, তারপর তা দিয়ে আমরা প্রাণবন্ত করি মৃত দেশকে, এইভাবেই তোমাদের পুনরুত্থিত করা হবে।
And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure, then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the graves).
And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth;
وَٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَأَنشَرْنَا بِهِۦ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا كَذَٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ
আর যিনি সমস্ত - কিছু জোড়ায় - জোড়ায় সৃষ্টি করেছেন, আর তোমাদের জন্য নৌকা - জাহাজ ও গবাদি - পশুর মধ্যে বানিয়েছেন সেগুলো যা তোমরা চড়ো, - -
And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride:
And He Who created pairs of all things, and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride on,
وَٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْفُلْكِ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ مَا تَرْكَبُونَ
যেন তোমরা তাদের পিঠের উপরে মজবুত হয়ে বসতে পার, তারপর তোমাদের প্রভুর অনুগ্রহ স্মরণ করো যখন তোমরা তাদের উপরে বস, আর বলো - - ''সকল মহিমা তাঁর যিনি এদের আমাদের বশ করেছেন, অথচ আমরা এতে সমর্থ ছিলাম না,
In order that you may mount on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts).
That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it
لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِۦ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُۥ مُقْرِنِينَ
''আর অবশ্য আমরা আমাদের প্রভুর দিকেই তো ফিরে যাব।’’
And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return!"
And surely to our Lord we must return.
وَإِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
তথাপি তারা তাঁর বান্দাদের মধ্যে থেকে তাঁর সঙ্গে অংশীদার বানিয়েছে। নিঃসন্দেহ মানুষ তো স্পষ্টই অকৃতজ্ঞ।
Yet, they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate!
And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful.
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ جُزْءًا إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَكَفُورٌ مُّبِينٌ
তিনি যা সৃষ্টি করেছেন তার মধ্যে থেকে কি তিনি কন্যাদের গ্রহণ করেছেন আর তোমাদের জন্য নির্ধারিত করেছেন পুত্রদের?
Or has He taken daughters out of what He has created, and He has selected for you sons?
What! has He taken daughters to Himself of what He Himself creates and chosen you to have sons?
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ بَنَاتٍ وَأَصْفَىٰكُم بِٱلْبَنِينَ
আর যখন তাদের কাউকে সুসংবাদ দেওয়া হয় তাই দিয়ে যার দৃষ্টান্ত সে স্থাপন করে পরম করুণাময়ের প্রতি, তার চেহারা তখন কালো হয়ে যায় আর সে অতিমাত্রায় ক্ষুদ্ধ্ব হয়।
And if one of them is of the news of (the birth of a girl) that which he sets forth as a parable to the Most Gracious (Allah), his face becomes dark, and he is filled with grief!
And when one of them is given news of that of which he sets up as a likeness for the Beneficent Allah, his face becomes black and he is full of rage.
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ
তবে কি যে গহনাগাটিতে রক্ষিত আর যে বিতর্ককালে স্পষ্টবাদিতা বিহীন?
(Like they then for Allah) a creature who is brought up in adornments (wearing silk and gold ornaments, i.e. women), and who in dispute cannot make herself clear?
What! that which is made in ornaments and which in contention is unable to make plain speech!
أَوَمَن يُنَشَّؤُا۟ فِى ٱلْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ
আর তারা ফিরিশতাদের, যারা খোদ পরম করুণাময়ের দাস, কন্যা বানায়। কী! এদের সৃষ্টি কি তারা দেখেছিল? তাদের সাক্ষ্য শীঘ্রই লিপিবদ্ধ করা হবে এবং তাদের জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হবে।
And they make the angels who themselves are slaves of the Most Gracious (Allah) females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned!
And they make the angels - - them who are the servants of the Beneficent Allah - - female (divinities). What! did they witness their creation? Their evidence shall be written down and they shall be questioned.
وَجَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَٰدُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ إِنَٰثًا أَشَهِدُوا۟ خَلْقَهُمْ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَٰدَتُهُمْ وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ
আর তারা বলে - - ''পরম করুণাময় যদি চাইতেন তবে আমরা এ - সবের উপাসনা করতাম না।’’ তাদের এ ব্যাপারে কোনো জ্ঞান নেই, তারা তো শুধু ঝুটা আন্দাজই করছে।
And they said: "If it had been the Will of the Most Gracious (Allah), we should not have worshipped them (false deities)." They have no knowledge whatsoever of that. They do nothing but lie!
And they say: If the Beneficent Allah had pleased, we should never have worshipped them. They have no knowledge of this; they only lie.
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مَا عَبَدْنَٰهُم مَّا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ
অথবা তাদের কি এর আগে আমরা কোনো গ্রন্থ দিয়েছি, ফলে তারা তাতে আকঁড়ে রয়েছে?
Or have We given them any Book before this (the Qur'an) to which they are holding fast?
Or have We given them a book before it so that they hold fast to it?
أَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ كِتَٰبًا مِّن قَبْلِهِۦ فَهُم بِهِۦ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ
না, তারা বলে - - ''আমরা তো আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের একটি সম্প্রদায়ভুক্ত পেয়েছি, আর আমরা নিঃসন্দেহে তাদেরই পদচিহ্নের উপরে পরিচালিত হয়েছি।’’
Nay! They say: "We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we guide ourselves by their footsteps."
Nay! they say: We found our fathers on a course, and surely we are guided by their footsteps.
بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ
আর এইভাবেই তোমার আগে কোনো জনপদে আমরা সতর্ককারীদের কাউকেও পাঠাই নি, যার বড়লোকেরা না বলেছে - - ''আমরা নিশ্চয়ই আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের একটি সম্প্রদায়ভুক্ত পেয়েছি, আর আমরা আলবৎ তাদেরই পদাংকের অনুসারী।’’
And similarly, We sent not a warner before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) to any town (people) but the luxurious ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we will indeed follow their footsteps."
And thus, We did not send before you any warner in a town, but those who led easy lives in it said: Surely we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are followers of their footsteps.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ
তিনি বলেছিলেন - - ''কী! যদিও আমি তোমাদের কাছে তার চাইতেও ভালো পথনির্দেশ নিয়ে এসেছি যার উপরে তোমরা তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের পেয়েছিলে?’’ তারা বললে, ''তোমাদের যা দিয়ে পাঠানো হয়েছে আমরা তাতে নিশ্চয়ই অবিশ্বাসী।
(The warner) said: "Even if I bring you better guidance than that which you found your fathers following?" They said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent."
(The warner) said: What! even if I bring to you a better guide than that on which you found your fathers? They said: Surely we are unbelievers in that with which you are sent.
قَٰلَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ
সুতরাং আমরা তাদের পরিণতি দিয়েছিলাম, অতএব চেয়ে দেখো - - কেমন হয়েছিল মিথ্যাচারীদের পরিণাম!
So We took revenge on them, then see what was the end of those who denied (Islamic Monotheism).
So We inflicted retribution on them, then see how was the end of the rejecters.
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
আর স্মরণ করো! ইব্রাহীম তাঁর পিতৃকে ও তাঁর স্বজাতিকে বললেন, ''তোমরা যার পূজা কর তা থেকে আমি অবশ্যই মুক্ত,
And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said to his father and his people: "Verily, I am innocent of what you worship,
And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: Surely I am clear of what you worship,
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّنِى بَرَآءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ
''তাঁকে ব্যতীত যিনি আমাকে আদিতে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, কাজেই নিশ্চয় তিনি শীঘ্রই আমাকে পথ দেখাবেন।’’
"Except Him (i.e. I worship none but Allah Alone) Who did create me; and verily He will guide me."
Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me.
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنِى فَإِنَّهُۥ سَيَهْدِينِ
আর তিনি এটিকে তাঁর বংশধরদের মধ্যে একটি চিরন্তন বাণী বানিয়েছিলেন, যেন তারা ফিরতে পারে।
And he made it [i.e. La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone)] a Word lasting among his offspring, (True Monotheism), that they may turn back (i.e. to repent to Allah or receive admonition).
And he made it a word to continue in his posterity that they may return.
وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةًۢ بَاقِيَةً فِى عَقِبِهِۦ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
বস্তুতঃ আমি এদের ও এদের পূর্বপুরুষদের উপভোগ করতে দিয়েছিলাম, যে পর্যন্ত না তাদের কাছে এসেছিল মহাসত্য ও একজন স্পষ্ট প্রতীয়মান রসূল।
Nay, but I gave (the good things of this life) to these (polytheists) and their fathers to enjoy, till there came to them the truth (the Qur'an), and a Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) making things clear.
Nay! I gave them and their fathers to enjoy until there came to them the truth and an Apostle making manifest (the truth).
بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ وَرَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
আর এখন যেহেতু তাদের কাছে মহাসত্য এসেই গেছে, তারা বলছে, ''এ এক জাদু, আর আমরা অবশ্যই এতে অবিশ্বাসী।’’
And when the truth (this Qur'an) came to them, they (the disbelievers in this Qur'an) said: "This is magic, and we disbelieve therein."
And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it.
وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّا بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ
আর তারা বলে, ''এই কুরআনখানা দুটো জনপদের মধ্যের কোনো এক প্রভাবশালী ব্যক্তির কাছে কেন অবতীর্ণ হল না?’’
And they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some great man of the two towns (Makkah and Ta'if)?"
And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns?
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ
তারাই কি তোমার প্রভুর করুণা ভাগ - বাঁটা করে? আমরাই এই দুনিয়ার জীবনে তাদের জীবিকা তাদের মধ্যে ভাগবাটোয়ারা করে দিই, এবং তাদের কাউকে অপরের উপরে মর্যাদায় উন্নত করি, যেন তাদের কেউ - কেউ অপরকে সেবারত করে নিতে পারে। আর তোমার প্রভুর করুণা বেশি ভাল তার চাইতে যা তারা জমা করে।
Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in this world, and We raised some of them above others in ranks, so that some may employ others in their work. But the Mercy (Paradise) of your Lord (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) is better than the (wealth of this world) which they amass.
Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass.
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَٰتٍ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ
আর মানুষ যদি একই সম্প্রদায়ের হয়ে না যেতো তাহলে যারা পরম করুণাময়কে অস্বীকার করে তাদের জন্য আমরা নিশ্চয় বানাতাম - - তাদের ঘরগুলোর জন্য রূপোর ছাদ ও সিড়ি যাঁ দিয়ে তারা ওঠে,
And were it not that mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Gracious (Allah), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators whereby they ascend,
And were it not that all people had been a single nation, We would certainly have assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent Allah (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses and the stairs by which they ascend.
وَلَوْلَآ أَن يَكُونَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً لَّجَعَلْنَا لِمَن يَكْفُرُ بِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًا مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ
আর তাদের ঘরবাড়ির জন্য দরজাগুলো ও পালংক যার উপরে তারা শয়ন করে,
And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline,
And the doors of their houses and the couches on which they recline,
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْوَٰبًا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِـُٔونَ
আর সোনাদানা। আর এ সমস্তই এই দুনিয়ার জীবনের ভোগসম্ভার বৈ তো নয়। আর পরকাল তোমার প্রভুর কাছে ধর্মভীরুদের জন্যেই।
And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is (only) for the Muttaqun.
And (other) embellishments of gold; and all this is naught but provision of this world's life, and the hereafter is with your Lord only for those who guard (against evil).
وَزُخْرُفًا وَإِن كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
আর যে পরম করুণাময়ের স্মরণ থেকে বেখেয়াল হয় তার জন্য আমরা ধার্য করি একজন শয়তান, ফলে সে হয় তার জন্য একটি সহচর।
And whosoever turns away blindly from the remembrance of the Most Gracious (Allah) (i.e. this Qur'an and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (a companion) to him.
And whoever turns himself away from the remembrance of the Beneficent Allah, We appoint for him a Shaitan, so he becomes his associate.
وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُۥ شَيْطَٰنًا فَهُوَ لَهُۥ قَرِينٌ
আর নিঃসন্দেহ তারা তাদের পথ থেকে অবশ্যই ফিরিয়ে রাখে, অথচ তারা মনে করে যে তারা সৎপথে চালিত হচ্ছে, - -
And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright!
And most surely they turn them away from the path, and they think that they are guided aright:
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ
যে পর্যন্ত না সে আমাদের কাছে আসে তখন সে বলবে - - ''হায় আফসোস! আমার মধ্যে ও তোমার মধ্যে যদি দূরত্ব হতো দুটি পূর্বাঞ্চলের! সুতরাং কত নিকৃষ্ট সহচর!’’
Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" - a worst (type of) companion (indeed)!
Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate!
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَنَا قَالَ يَٰلَيْتَ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرِينُ
আর - - ''যেহেতু তোমরা অন্যায়াচরণ করেছিলে তাই শাস্তিভোগের মধ্যে তোমরা অংশীদার হওয়া সত্ত্বেওে আজকের দিনে তোমাদের কোনো ফায়দা হবে না।’’
It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin ) in the punishment.
And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement.
وَلَن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِذ ظَّلَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
কি! তুমি কি তবে বধিরকে শোনাতে পারবে, অথবা অন্ধকে এবং যে স্পষ্ট বিভ্রান্তিতে রয়েছে তাকে পথ দেখাতে পারবে?
Can you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) make the deaf to hear, or can you guide the blind or him who is in manifest error?
What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error?
أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ أَوْ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَمَن كَانَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
কিন্ত আমরা যদি তোমাকে নিয়ে নিই, আমরা তবুও তাদের থেকে শেষ - পরিণতি আদায় করব,
And even if We take you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) away, We shall indeed take vengeance on them.
But if We should take you away, still We shall inflict retribution on them;
فَإِمَّا نَذْهَبَنَّ بِكَ فَإِنَّا مِنْهُم مُّنتَقِمُونَ
অথবা আমরা নিশ্চয় তোমাকে দেখিয়ে দেব যা আমরা তাদের ওয়াদা করেছিলাম, কেননা আমরা আলবৎ তাদের উপরে ক্ষমতাবান।
Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them: then verily We have perfect command over them.
Rather We will certainly show you that which We have promised them; for surely We are the possessors of full power over them.
أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ ٱلَّذِى وَعَدْنَٰهُمْ فَإِنَّا عَلَيْهِم مُّقْتَدِرُونَ
সেজন্য তোমার কাছে যা প্রত্যাদেশ দেওয়া হচ্ছে তাতে আঁকড়ে ধরো। নিঃসন্দেহ তুমি সরল - সঠিক পথের উপরে রয়েছো।
So hold you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) fast to that which is revealed to you. Verily you are on the Straight Path.
Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path.
فَٱسْتَمْسِكْ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
আর এইটি নিশ্চয়ই তো একটি স্মরণীয় গ্রন্থ তোমার জন্য ও তোমার লোকদের জন্য, আর শীঘ্রই তোমাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করা হবে।
And verily this (the Qur'an) is indeed a Reminder for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) and your people (Quraish people, or your followers), and you will be questioned (about it).
And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذِكْرٌ لَّكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ وَسَوْفَ تُسْـَٔلُونَ
আর তোমার আগে আমাদের রসূলদের মধ্যের যাঁদের আমরা পাঠিয়েছিলাম তাঁদের জিজ্ঞেস করো - - আমরা কি পরম করুণাময়কে বাদ দিয়ে উপাসনার জন্য উপাস্যদের দাঁড় করিয়েছিলাম?
And ask (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint alihah (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Gracious (Allah)?"
And ask those of Our apostles whom We sent before you: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah?
وَسْـَٔلْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَآ أَجَعَلْنَا مِن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ءَالِهَةً يُعْبَدُونَ
আর আমরা নিশ্চয় মূসাকে আমাদের নির্দেশাবলী দিয়ে পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম ফির'আউন ও তার প্রধানদের কাছে, কাজেই তিনি বলেছিলেন - - ''আমি নিশ্চয় বিশ্বজগতের প্রভুর বাণীবাহক।’’
And indeed We did send Musa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs (inviting them to Allah's religion of Islam) He said: "Verily, I am a Messenger of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)."
And certainly We sent Musa with Our communications to Firon and his chiefs, so he said: Surely I am the apostle of the Lord of the worlds.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ فَقَالَ إِنِّى رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
কিন্ত যখন তিনি আমাদের নির্দেশাবলী নিয়ে তাদের কাছে এলেন তখন দেখো, তারা এসব নিয়ে হাসিঠাট্টা করতে লাগল।
But when he came to them with Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations) behold, they laughed at them.
But when he came to them with Our signs, lo! they laughed at them.
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَضْحَكُونَ
আর আমরা তাদের এমন কোনো নিদর্শন দেখাই নি যা ছিল না তার ভগিনী থেকে আরো বড়, আর আমরা তাদের পাকড়াও করেছিলাম শাস্তি দিয়ে যেন তারা ফিরে আসে।
And not an Ayah (sign, etc.) We showed them but it was greater than its fellow , and We seized them with torment, in order that they might turn [from their polytheism to Allah's religion (Islamic Monotheism)].
And We did not show them a sign but it was greater than its like, and We overtook them with chastisement that they may turn.
وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ إِلَّا هِىَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا وَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
আর তারা বলেছিল - - ''ওহে জাদুকর! তোমার প্রভুকে আমাদের জন্য ডাকো যেমন তিনি তোমার কাছে অংগীকার করেছিলেন, আমরা অবশ্যই তখন সৎপথাবলন্বী হব।’’
And they said [to Musa (Moses)]: "O you sorcerer! Invoke your Lord for us according to what He has covenanted with you. Verily, We shall guide ourselves (aright)."
And they said: O magician! call on your Lord for our sake, as He has made the covenant with you; we shall surely be the followers of the right way.
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلسَّاحِرُ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهْتَدُونَ
তারপর আমরা যখন তাদের থেকে শাস্তিটা সরিয়ে নিলাম তখন দেখো! তারা অংগীকার ভঙ্গ করে বসল।
But when We removed the torment from them, behold, they broke their covenant (that they will believe if We remove the torment from them).
But when We removed from them the chastisement, lo! they broke the pledge.
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ
আর ফির'আউন তার লোকদলের মধ্যে ঘোষণা করে বললে - - ''হে আমার স্বজাতি! মিশরের রাজ্য কি আমার নয়, আর এইসব নদনদী যা আমার নিচে দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে? তোমরা কি তবে দেখতে পাচ্ছ না?
And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) proclaimed among his people (saying): "O my people! Is not mine the dominion of Egypt, and these rivers flowing underneath me. See you not then?
And Firon proclaimed amongst his people: O my people! is not the kingdom of Egypt mine? And these rivers flow beneath me; do you not then see?
وَنَادَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى قَوْمِهِۦ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِى مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَٰذِهِ ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِىٓ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ
''বস্তুতঃ আমি বেশি ভাল এর চেয়ে যে স্বয়ং হীন - ঘৃণ্য, ও স্পষ্টবাদিতার যার ক্ষমতা নেই।
"Am I not better than this one [Musa (Moses)] who is despicable and can scarcely express himself clearly?
Nay! I am better than this fellow, who is contemptible, and who can hardly speak distinctly:
أَمْ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ
''তবে কেন সোনার কঙ্কন তার প্রতি ছোড়া হল না, অথবা তার সঙ্গে কেন ফিরিশতারা এল না সারিবদ্ধভাবে।’’
"Why then are not golden bracelets bestowed on him, or angels sent along with him?"
But why have not bracelets of gold been put upon him, or why have there not come with him angels as companions?
فَلَوْلَآ أُلْقِىَ عَلَيْهِ أَسْوِرَةٌ مِّن ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَآءَ مَعَهُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ مُقْتَرِنِينَ
এইভাবে সে তার স্বজাতিকে ধাপ্পা দিয়েছিল, ফলে তারা তাকে মেনে চলল। নিঃসন্দেহ তারা ছিল সীমালংঘনকারী জাতি।
Thus he [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] befooled (and misled) his people, and they obeyed him. Verily, they were ever a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
So he incited his people to levity and they obeyed him: surely they were a transgressing people.
فَٱسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُۥ فَأَطَاعُوهُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ
অতএব তারা যখন আমাদের রাগিয়ে তুললো তখন আমরা তাদের থেকে শেষ - পরিণতি গ্রহণ করলাম, ফলে তাদের একসঙ্গে ডুবিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম।
So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all.
Then when they displeased Us, We inflicted a retribution on them, so We drowned them all together,
فَلَمَّآ ءَاسَفُونَا ٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
সুতরাং আমরা তাদের বানিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম এক অতীত ইতিহাস এবং পরবর্তীদের জন্য এক দৃষ্টান্ত।
And We made them a precedent (as a lesson for those coming after them), and an example to later generations.
And We made them a precedent and example to the later generations.
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ سَلَفًا وَمَثَلًا لِّلْءَاخِرِينَ
আর যখন মরিয়মের পুত্রের দৃষ্টান্ত ছোঁড়া হয় তখন দেখো, তোমার স্বজাতি তাতে শোরগোল তোলে।
And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Îsa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols], behold, your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example).
And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat.
وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلًا إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّونَ
আর তারা বলে - - ''আমাদের দেবদেবীরা অধিকতর ভাল, না সে? তারা তোমার কাছে এ কথা তোলে না তর্কবিতর্ক করার জন্যে ব্যতীত? বস্তুত তারা হচ্ছে বিবাদপ্রিয় জাতি।
And say: "Are our alihah (gods) better or is he ['Îsa (Jesus)]?" They quoted not the above example except for argument. Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people. (See V. 21:98-101)
And they say: Are our gods better, or is he? They do not set it forth to you save by way of disputation; nay, they are a contentious people.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ ءَأَٰلِهَتُنَا خَيْرٌ أَمْ هُوَ مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلًۢا بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ
তিনি একজন বান্দা বৈ তো নন যাঁর প্রতি আমরা অনুগ্রহ করেছি, এবং তাঁকে আমরা ইসরাঈলের বংশধরদের জন্য আদর্শস্বরূপ বানিয়েছিলাম।
He ['Îsa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father).
He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel.
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ مَثَلًا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
আর আমরা যদি চাইতাম তবে নিশ্চয়ই আমরা তোমাদের মধ্যে ফিরিশ্তাদের নিয়োগ করতাম পৃথিবীতে প্রতিনিধি হবার জন্য!
And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari].
And if We please, We could make among you angels to be successors in the land.
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَٰٓئِكَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ
আর নিঃসন্দেহ এ - ই হচ্ছে ঘড়িধন্টা সন্বন্ধে নিশ্চিত জ্ঞান; সুতরাং এ - সন্বন্ধে তোমরা সন্দেহ করো না, আর আমাকে অনুসরণ করো। এটিই হচ্ছে সহজ - সঠিক পথ।
And he ['Îsa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Isa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise).
And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَٱتَّبِعُونِ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
আর শয়তান যেন তোমাদের কিছুতেই ফিরিয়ে না দেয়, নিঃসন্দেহ সে হচ্ছে তোমাদের জন্য প্রকাশ্য শত্রু।
And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism). Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy.
And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your j open enemy.
وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
আর যখন ঈসা স্পষ্ট প্রমাণাবলী নিয়ে এলেন তখন তিনি বললেন - - ''আমি তোমাদের কাছে জ্ঞান নিয়ে এসেছি, আর তোমরা যে - সব বিষয়ে মতভেদ করছ তার কোনো কোনোটি তোমাদের জন্য সুস্পষ্ট করে দিতে, সুতরাং তোমরা কে ভয় - ভক্তি করো ও আমাকে মেনে চল।
And when 'Îsa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ. Therefore fear Allah and obey me.
And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me:
وَلَمَّا جَآءَ عِيسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالَ قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَلِأُبَيِّنَ لَكُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى تَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
''নিঃসন্দেহ - - তিনি আমার প্রভু ও তোমাদেরও প্রভু, সেজন্য তাঁরই উপাসনা কর। এটিই সহজ - সঠিক পথ।’’
"Verily, Allah! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allah's religion of true Islamic Monotheism)."
Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path:
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
কিন্ত বিভিন্ন দল নিজেদের মধ্যে মতভেদ সৃষ্টি করল, কাজেই ধিক্ তাদের প্রতি যারা অন্যায়াচরণ করেছিল - - এক মর্মন্তুদ দিনের শাস্তির কারণে!
But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong [by ascribing things to 'Îsa (Jesus) that are not true] from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)!
But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day.
فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ
তারা কি চেয়ে রয়েছে শুধু ঘড়িঘান্টার জন্য যেন তাদের উপরে এটি এসে পড়ে আকস্মিকভাবে যখন তারা টেরও না পায়।
Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not?
Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive?
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
সেইদিন বন্ধুরা - - তাদের কেউ - কেউ অপরের শত্রু হয়ে পড়বে, তবে ধর্মপরায়ণরা ব্যতীত।
Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (the pious. See V.2:2).
The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil).
ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
''হে আমার বান্দারা! আজকের দিনে তোমাদের জন্য কোনো ভয় নেই আর তোমরা দুঃখও করবে না, - -
(It will be said to the true believers of Islamic Monotheism): My worshippers! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve,
O My servants! there is no fear for you this day, nor shall you grieve.
يَٰعِبَادِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَآ أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ
''যারা আমাদের নির্দেশাবলীতে বিশ্বাস করেছিলে এবং মুসলিম হয়েছিলে, - -
(You) who believed in Our Ayat (proofs, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were Muslims (i.e. who submit totally to Allah's Will, and believe in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism).
Those who believed in Our communications and were submissive:
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ
''তোমরা বেহেশতে প্রবেশ করো - - তোমরা ও তোমাদের সঙ্গিনীরা তোমাদের আনন্দিত করা হবে।’’
Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happiness.
Enter the garden, you and your wives; you shall be made happy.
ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ أَنتُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُونَ
তাদের সামনে পরিবেশন করা হবে সোনার খাঞ্চা ও পানপাত্র, আর তাতে থাকবে যা অন্তর কামনা করে ও চোখ তৃপ্ত হয়, আর তোমরা তাতে স্থায়ীভাবে অবস্থান করবে।
Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them; (there will be) therein all that inner-selves could desire, and all that eyes could delight in and you will abide therein forever.
There shall be sent round to them golden bowls and drinking - cups and therein shall be what their souls yearn after and (wherein) the eyes shall delight, and you shall abide therein.
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِصِحَافٍ مِّن ذَهَبٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ ٱلْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ ٱلْأَعْيُنُ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
আর এইটিই সেই জান্নাত, তোমাদের এটি উত্তরাধিকার করতে দেওয়া হয়েছে তোমরা যা করতে তার জন্যে।
This is the Paradise which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do (in the life of the world).
And this is the garden which you are given as an inheritance on account of what you did.
وَتِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
তোমাদের জন্য সেখানে রয়েছে প্রচুর ফলমূল, তা থেকে তোমরা আহার করবে।
Therein for you will be fruits in plenty, of which you will eat (as you desire).
For you therein are many fruits of which you shall eat.
لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِّنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
অপরাধীরা নিশ্চয় জাহান্নামের শাস্তির মধ্যে অবস্থান করবে,
Verily, the Mujrimun (criminals, sinners, disbelievers) will be in the torment of Hell to abide therein forever.
Surely the guilty shall abide in the chastisement of hell.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ
তাদের থেকে তা লাঘব করা হবে না, আর তাতে তারা হতাশ হয়ে পড়বে।
(The torment) will not be lightened for them, and they will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair therein.
It shall not be abated from them and they shall therein be despairing.
لَا يُفَتَّرُ عَنْهُمْ وَهُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ
আর আমরা তাদের প্রতি অন্যায় করি নি, বরঞ্চ তারা নিজেরাই অন্যায় করেছিল।
We wronged them not, but they were the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers).
And We are not unjust to them, but they themselves were unjust.
وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
আর তারা ডেকে বলবে - - ''হে মালিক! তোমার প্রভু আমাদের নিঃশেষ করে ফেলুন।’’ সে বলবে - - ''তোমরা নিশ্চয় অপেক্ষা করবে।’’
And they will cry: "O Malik (Keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord make an end of us." He will say: "Verily, you shall abide forever."
And they shall call out: O Malik! let your Lord make an end of us. He shall say: Surely you shall tarry.
وَنَادَوْا۟ يَٰمَٰلِكُ لِيَقْضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَ قَالَ إِنَّكُم مَّٰكِثُونَ
''আমরা তো তোমাদের কাছে সত্য নিয়েই এসেছিলাম, কিন্ত তোমাদের অধিকাংশই সত্যের প্রতি বিমুখ ছিলে।’’
Indeed We have brought the truth (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم with the Qur'an) to you, but most of you have a hatred for the truth.
Certainly We have brought you the truth, but most of you are averse to the truth.
لَقَدْ جِئْنَٰكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ
অথবা তারা কি কোনো ব্যাপারে সিদ্ধান্ত করে ফেলেছে? কিন্ত বাস্তবে আমরাই সিদ্ধান্তকারী।
Or have they plotted some plan? Then We too are planning.
Or have they settled an affair? Then surely We are the settlers.
أَمْ أَبْرَمُوٓا۟ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّا مُبْرِمُونَ
অথবা তারা কি মনে করে যে আমরা তাদের লুকোনো বিষয় ও তাদের গোপন আলোচনা শুনি না? অবশ্যই, আর আমাদের দূতরা তাদের সঙ্গে থেকে লিখে চলেছে।
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsel? (Yes We do) and Our messengers (appointed angels in charge of mankind) are by them, to record.
Or do they think that We do not hear what they conceal and their secret discourses? Aye! and Our apostles with them write down.
أَمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَىٰهُم بَلَىٰ وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
তুমি বলো - - ''যদি পরম করুণাময়ের কোনো সন্তান থাকত তবে আমিই হচ্ছি উপাসনাকারীদের মধ্যে অগ্রণী।’’
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "If the Most Gracious (Allah) had a son (or children as you pretend), then I am the first of Allah's worshippers [who deny and refute this claim of yours (and the first to believe in Allah Alone and testify that He has no children)]." [Tafsir At-Tabari].
Say: If the Beneficent Allah has a son, I am the foremost of those who serve.
قُلْ إِن كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلْعَٰبِدِينَ
সকল মহিমা হোক মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর প্রভুর! তিনি আরশের প্রভু, তারা যা আরোপ করে তা থেকে তিনি বহু ঊর্ধ্বে।
Glorified be the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne! Exalted be He from all that they ascribe (to Him).
Glory to the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of power, from what they describe.
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
সুতরাং তাদের ছেড়ে দাও আঁকুপাঁকু করতে ও ছেলেখেলা খেলতে যে পর্যন্ত না তারা তাদের দিনের মুখোমুখি হয় যেটি সন্বন্ধে তাদের ওয়াদা করা হয়েছিল।
So leave them (alone) to speak nonsense and play until they meet the Day of theirs which they have been promised.
So leave them plunging into false discourses and sporting until they meet their day which they are threatened with.
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
আর তিনিই সেইজন যিনি মহাকাশে উপাস্য আর দুনিয়াতেও উপাস্য। আর তিনিই পরমজ্ঞানী, সর্বজ্ঞাতা।
It is He (Allah) Who is the only Ilah (God to be worshipped) in the heaven and the only Ilah (God to be worshipped) on the earth. And He be the All-Wise, the All-Knower.
And He it is Who is Allah in the heavens and Allah in the earth; and He is the Wise, the Knowing.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَٰهٌ وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَٰهٌ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
আর পুণ্যময় তিনি যাঁর অধিকারে রয়েছে মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর সার্বভৌমত্ব আর যা - কিছু রয়েছে এ দুইয়ের মধ্যে, আর তাঁরই কাছে রয়েছে ঘড়িঘান্টার জ্ঞান, আর তাঁর কাছেই তোমাদের ফিরিয়ে নেওয়া হবে।
And Blessed be He to Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, and with Whom is the knowledge of the Hour, and to Whom you (all) will be returned.
And blessed is He Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and with Him is the knowledge of the hour, and to Him shall you be brought back.
وَتَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
আর তাঁকে বাদ দিয়ে তারা যাদের ডাকে তাদের কোনো ক্ষমতা নেই সুপারিশ করার, তিনি ব্যতীত যিনি সত্যের সাথে সাক্ষ্য দেন, আর তারা জানে।
And those whom they invoke instead of Him have no power of intercession - except for those who bear witness to the truth knowingly (i.e. believed in the Oneness of Allah, and obeyed His Orders), and they know (the facts about the Oneness of Allah).
And those whom they call upon besides Him have no authority for intercession, but he who bears witness of the truth and they know (him).
وَلَا يَمْلِكُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
আর তুমি যদি তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা কর - - কে তাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন, তারা নিশ্চয়ই বলবে - - ''’’। তাহলে কোথায় - কেমনে তারা ফিরে যাচ্ছে!
And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say: "Allah." How then are they turned away (from the worship of Allah, Who created them)?
And if you should ask them who created them, they would certainly say: Allah. Whence are they then turned back?
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ
আর তাঁর উক্তি - - ''হে আমার প্রভু! তারা তো এক জাতি যারা ঈমান আনছে না।’’
(And Allah has the knowledge) of (Prophet Muhammad's) saying: "O my Lord! Verily, these are a people who believe not!"
Consider his cry: O my Lord! surely they are a people who do not believe.
وَقِيلِهِۦ يَٰرَبِّ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
''সুতরাং তুমি তাদের থেকে ফিরে যাও এবং বলো - - 'সালাম!’ তারপর শীঘ্রই তারা জানতে পারবে।’’
So turn away from them (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم), and say: Salam (peace)! But they will come to know.
So turn away from them and say, Peace, for they shall soon come to know.
فَٱصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلَٰمٌ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
