Chapter 20, 135 verses
ত্বা, হা।
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ta-Ha. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
طه
আমরা তোমার কাছে কুরআন অবতারণ করি নি যে তুমি বিপন্ন বোধ করবে, - -
We have not sent down the Qur'an unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) to cause you distress,
مَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْقَىٰٓ
যে ভয় করে তাকে স্মরণ করে দেবার জন্যে ছাড়া,
But only as a Reminder to those who fear (Allah).
إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ
এ একটি অবতারণ তাঁর কাছ থেকে যিনি সৃষ্টি করেছেন পৃথিবী ও সমুচ্চ মহাকাশমন্ডলী।
A revelation from Him (Allah) Who has created the earth and high heavens.
تَنزِيلًا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ ٱلْعُلَى
পরম করুণাময় আরশের উপরে সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত রয়েছেন।
The Most Gracious (Allah) rose over (Istawa) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty).
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ
যা কিছু আছে মহাকাশমন্ডলীতে ও যা কিছু এ দুইয়ের মধ্যে রয়েছে আর যা রয়েছে মাটির নিচে সে - সবই তাঁর।
To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and all that is between them, and all that is under the soil.
لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ
আর যদি তুমি বক্তব্য প্রকাশ কর তবে তো তিনি গোপন জানেন আর যা আরও লুকোনো।
And if you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) speak (the invocation) aloud, then verily, He knows the secret and that which is yet more hidden.
وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى
, তিনি ছাড়া অন্য উপাস্য নেই। তাঁরই হচ্ছে সব সুন্দর সুন্দর নামাবলী।
Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! To Him belong the Best Names.
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
আর মূসার কাহিনী কি তোমার কাছে এসে পৌঁছেছে?
And has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)?
وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
স্মরণ করো! তিনি দেখতে পেলেন একটি আগুন, তাই তিনি তাঁর পরিবারবর্গকে বললেন - - ''দাঁড়াও, আমি নিঃসন্দেহ একটি আগুন দেখছি, সম্ভবতঃ তোমাদের জন্য সেখান থেকে আমি জ্বলন্ত আঙটা আনতে পারব অথবা আগুনের কাছ থেকে কোনো পথনির্দেশ পেয়ে যাব।’’
When he saw a fire, he said to his family: "Wait! Verily, I have seen a fire; perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire."
إِذْ رَءَا نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدًى
তারপর যখন তিনি সেখানে এলেন তখন ডাকা হ’ল - - ''হে মূসা!
And when he came to it (the fire), he was called by name: "O Musa (Moses)!
فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
''নিঃসন্দেহ আমি, আমিই তোমার প্রভু, অতএব তোমার জুতো খুলে ফেল, তুমি অবশ্য পবিত্র উপত্যকা 'তুওয়া’তে রয়েছ।
"Verily I am your Lord! So take off your shoes; you are in the sacred valley, Tuwa.
إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ إِنَّكَ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
''আর আমি তোমাকে মনোনীত করেছি, তাই শোনো যা প্রত্যাদেশ করা হচ্ছে।
"And I have chosen you. So listen to that which will be revealed (to you).
وَأَنَا ٱخْتَرْتُكَ فَٱسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰٓ
''নিঃসন্দেহ আমি, আমিই , আমি ছাড়া আর কোনো উপাস্য নেই, সেজন্য আমার উপাসনা করো, আর আমাকে মনে রাখার জন্যে কায়েম করো।
"Verily! I am Allah! La ilaha illa Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I), so worship Me, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) for My Remembrance.
إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدْنِى وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ
''নিঃসন্দেহ ঘড়িঘন্টা এসেই যাচ্ছে, আমি চাই এ গোপন রাখতে, যেন প্রত্যেক জীবকে পুরস্কৃত করা যেতে পারে তাই দিয়ে যার জন্য সে চেষ্টা করে।
"Verily, the Hour is coming - and I am almost hiding it from Myself - that every person may be rewarded for that which he strives.
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ
''সেজন্য তোমাকে এ থেকে সে যেন না ফেরায় যে এতে বিশ্বাস করে না আর যে তার কামনার অনুবর্তী হয়, পাছে তুমি ধ্বংস হয়ে যাও।’’
"Therefore, let not the one who believes not therein (i.e. in the Day of Resurrection, Reckoning, Paradise and Hell.), but follows his own lusts, divert you therefrom, lest you perish.
فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ
''তোমার ডান হাতে ঐটি কি, হে মূসা?’’
"And what is that in your right hand, O Musa (Moses)?"
وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''এটি আমার লাঠি, আমি এর উপরে ভর দিই, আর এ দিয়ে আমার মেষপালের জন্য আমি গাছের পাতা পেড়ে থাকি, আর আমার জন্য এতে অন্যান্য কাজও হয়।’’
He said: "This is my stick, whereon I lean, and wherewith I beat down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses."
قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِى وَلِىَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخْرَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''এটি ছুঁড়ে মার, হে মূসা!’’
(Allah) said: "Cast it down, O Musa (Moses)!"
قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ
সুতরাং তিনি এটি ছুঁড়ে মারলেন, তখন দেখো! এটি হয়ে গেল একটি সাপ - - ছুটতে লাগল।
He cast it down, and behold! It was a snake, moving quickly.
فَأَلْقَىٰهَا فَإِذَا هِىَ حَيَّةٌ تَسْعَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''এটিকে ধর, আর ভয় করো না, এটিকে আমরা সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ফিরিয়ে নেব তার আগের অবস্থায়।
Allah said: "Grasp it and fear not; We shall return it to its former state,
قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
আর তোমার হাত তোমার বগলের মধ্যে চেপে ধর, তা সাদা হয়ে বেরিয়ে আসবে কোনো দোষত্রুটি ছাড়া, - - এ আরেকটি নিদর্শন।
"And press your (right) hand to your (left) side: it will come forth white (and shining), without any disease as another sign,
وَٱضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍ ءَايَةً أُخْرَىٰ
এই জন্য যে আমরা তোমাকে আমাদের আরো বড় নিদর্শন দেখাতে পারি।
"That We may show you (some) of Our Greater Signs.
لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا ٱلْكُبْرَى
ফিরআউনের কাছে যাও, নিঃসন্দেহ সে সীমা ছাড়িয়ে যাচ্ছে।’’
"Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh)! Verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience, and has behaved as an arrogant and as a tyrant)."
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''আমার প্রভু! আমার বুক আমার জন্য প্রসারিত করো,
[Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness).
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱشْرَحْ لِى صَدْرِى
''আর আমার কাজ আমার জন্য সহজ করে দাও,
"And ease my task for me;
وَيَسِّرْ لِىٓ أَمْرِى
''আর আমার জিহ্বা থেকে জড়তা তুমি খুলে দাও,
"And loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Musa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. (Tafsir At-Tabari).
وَٱحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِى
''যেন তারা আমার বক্তব্য বুঝতে পারে।
"That they understand my speech.
يَفْقَهُوا۟ قَوْلِى
''আর আমার স্বজনদের মধ্যে থেকে আমার জন্য একজন সাহায্যকারী নিয়োগ করে দাও - -
"And appoint for me a helper from my family,
وَٱجْعَل لِّى وَزِيرًا مِّنْ أَهْلِى
''আমার ভাই হারূনকে,
"Harun (Aaron), my brother.
هَٰرُونَ أَخِى
''তাকে দিয়ে আমার কোমর মজবুত করে দাও,
"Increase my strength with him,
ٱشْدُدْ بِهِۦٓ أَزْرِى
''এবং তাকে জুড়ে দাও আমার কাজে,
"And let him share my task (of conveying Allah's Message and Prophethood),
وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِىٓ أَمْرِى
''যাতে আমরা তোমার মহিমা কীর্তন করতে পারি প্রচুরভাবে,
"That we may glorify You much,
كَىْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرًا
''আর তোমার গুণগান করতে পারি বহুলভাবে।
"And remember You much,
وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا
''নিঃসন্দেহ তুমি - - তুমিই আমাদের সম্যক দ্রষ্টা।’’
"Verily You are Ever a Well-Seer of us."
إِنَّكَ كُنتَ بِنَا بَصِيرًا
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমার আরজি অবশ্য তোমাকে মঞ্জুর করা হ’ল, হে মূসা!
(Allah) said: "You are granted your request, O Musa (Moses)!
قَالَ قَدْ أُوتِيتَ سُؤْلَكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
''আর আমরা তো তোমার প্রতি আরও একবার অনুগ্রহ করেছিলাম, - -
"And indeed We conferred a favour on you another time (before).
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَىٰٓ
''চেয়ে দেখো! আমরা তোমার মাতাকে অনুপ্রেরণা দিয়েছিলাম যা অনুপ্রাণিত করার ছিল।
"When We inspired your mother with that which We inspired.
إِذْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ
''এই বলেঃ 'তাকে একটি সিন্দুকের মধ্যে রাখ, তারপর এটিকে পানিতে ভাসিয়ে দাও, তারপর নদী তাকে তীরে ভেড়াবে, তাকে নিয়ে যাবে আমার এক শত্রু ও তারও শত্রু।’’ আর আমি তোমার উপরে আমার তরফ থেকে ভালবাসা অর্পণ করেছিলাম, আর যেন তুমি আমার চোখের সামনে প্রতিপালিত হতে পার।
"Saying: 'Put him (the child) into the Tabut (a box or a case or a chest) and put it into the river (Nile); then the river shall cast it up on the bank, and there, an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his shall take him.' And I endued you with love from Me, in order that you may be brought up under My Eye.
أَنِ ٱقْذِفِيهِ فِى ٱلتَّابُوتِ فَٱقْذِفِيهِ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ فَلْيُلْقِهِ ٱلْيَمُّ بِٱلسَّاحِلِ يَأْخُذْهُ عَدُوٌّ لِّى وَعَدُوٌّ لَّهُۥ وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً مِّنِّى وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِىٓ
''চেয়ে দেখো! তোমার ভগিনী হেটে চলেছিল, তখন সে বললে - - 'আমি কি আপনাদের জন্য দেখিয়ে দেব তাকে যে এর ভার নিতে পারে?’’ ফলে তোমাকে আমরা ফিরিয়ে দিলাম তোমার মায়ের কাছে যেন তার চোখ জুড়ায় আর সে যেন পরিতাপ না করে। আর তুমি একটি লোককে মেরে ফেলেছিলে, তারপর আমরা তোমাকে মনঃপীড়া থেকে উদ্ধার করেছিলাম, আর আমরা তোমাকে পরীক্ষা করেছিলাম বহু পরীক্ষায়। এরপর তুমি বহু বৎসর অবস্থান করেছিলে মাদিয়ানবাসীদের সঙ্গে, তারপর, হে মূসা, তুমি সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী এসে পৌঁছেছ।
"When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)!
إِذْ تَمْشِىٓ أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن يَكْفُلُهُۥ فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّٰكَ فُتُونً
''আর আমি তোমাকে নির্বাচন করেছি আমার নিজের জন্য।
"And I have chosen you, for Myself.
وَٱصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِى
''তুমি ও তোমার ভাই আমার নির্দেশাবলী নিয়ে যাও, আর আমার নাম - কীর্তনে শিথিল হয়ো না।
"Go you and your brother with My Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and do not, you both, slacken and become weak in My Remembrance.
ٱذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِـَٔايَٰتِى وَلَا تَنِيَا فِى ذِكْرِى
''তোমার দুজনে ফিরআউনের কাছে যাও, নিঃসন্দেহ সে সীমা ছাড়িয়ে গেছে।
"Go, both of you, to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience and behaved as an arrogant and as a tyrant).
ٱذْهَبَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
''আর তার কাছে তোমরা বল সুরুচিসম্পন্ন কথা, হয়ত বা সে অনুধাবন করবে, অথবা সে ভয় করবে।’’
"And speak to him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear (Allah)."
فَقُولَا لَهُۥ قَوْلًا لَّيِّنًا لَّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ
তাঁরা বললেন - - ''আমাদের প্রভু! আমরা অবশ্য আশংকা করছি পাছে সে আমাদের প্রতি আগবেড়ে আক্রমণ করে, অথবা সে সীমা ছাড়িয়ে যায়।’’
They said: "Our Lord! Verily we fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)."
قَالَا رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَن يَفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَآ أَوْ أَن يَطْغَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমরা দুজনে ভয় করো না, আমি তো তোমাদের সঙ্গে রয়েছি, আমি শুনছি ও দেখছি।
He (Allah) said: "Fear not, verily I am with you both, hearing and seeing.
قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ إِنَّنِى مَعَكُمَآ أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ
''সুতরাং তোমরা উভয়ে তার কাছে যাও এবং বলো - - 'আমরা তোমার প্রভুর বার্তাবাহক, তাই আমাদের সঙ্গে ইসরাইলের বংশধরদের পাঠিয়ে দাও, আর তাদের অত্যাচার করো না। আমরা নিশ্চয়ই তোমার কাছে এসেছি তোমার প্রভুর কাছ থেকে নির্দেশ নিয়ে। আর শান্তি তার উপরে যে পথনির্দেশ অনুসরণ করে।
"So go you both to him, and say: 'Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance!
فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْهُمْ قَدْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِـَٔايَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَٱلسَّلَٰمُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
''নিঃসন্দেহ আমাদের কাছে অবশ্য প্রত্যাদিষ্ট হয়েছে যে নিশ্চয় শাস্তি এসে পড়বে তার উপরে যে প্রত্যাখ্যান করে ও ফিরে যায়।’’
"Truly, it has been revealed to us that the torment will be for him who denies [believes not in the Oneness of Allah, and in His Messengers.], and turns away (from the truth and obedience of Allah)."
إِنَّا قَدْ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْنَآ أَنَّ ٱلْعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
সে বললে - - ''তবে কে তোমাদের প্রভু, হে মূসা?’’
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?"
قَالَ فَمَن رَّبُّكُمَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''আমাদের প্রভু তিনি যিনি সব - কিছুকে দিয়েছেন তার সৃষ্টি, তারপর চালিত করেছেন।’’
[Musa (Moses)] said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright."
قَالَ رَبُّنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَعْطَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلْقَهُۥ ثُمَّ هَدَىٰ
সে বললে - - ''তাহলে পূর্ববর্তী লোকদের অবস্থা কি হবে?’’
[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "What about the generations of old?"
قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ ٱلْقُرُونِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''তার জ্ঞান আমার প্রভুর কাছে একটি গ্রন্থে রয়েছে, আমার প্রভু ভুল করেন না এবং ভুলেও যান না, - -
[Musa (Moses)] said: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord, in a Record. My Lord neither errs nor He forgets."
قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّى فِى كِتَٰبٍ لَّا يَضِلُّ رَبِّى وَلَا يَنسَى
''যিনি তোমাদের জন্যে পৃথিবীটাকে করেছেন একটি বিছানা, আর তোমাদের জন্য এতে ছড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন পথসমূহ, আর তিনি আকাশ থেকে পাঠান পানি।’’ তারপর এর দ্বারা আমরা উৎপাদন করি জোড়ায় জোড়ায় বিভিন্ন ধরনের গাছপালা।
Who has made earth for you like a bed (spread out); and has opened roads (ways and paths) for you therein, and has sent down water (rain) from the sky. And We have brought forth with it various kinds of vegetation.
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّن نَّبَاتٍ شَتَّىٰ
তোমরা খাও আর তোমাদের পশুদের চরাও। নিঃসন্দেহ এই গুলোতে অবশ্যই নিদর্শন রয়েছে বিবেকবুদ্ধিসম্পন্নদের জন্য।
Eat and pasture your cattle (therein); verily, in this are Ayat (proofs and signs) for men of understanding.
كُلُوا۟ وَٱرْعَوْا۟ أَنْعَٰمَكُمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلنُّهَىٰ
''এ থেকে আমরা তোমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছি, আর এতেই তোমাদের ফিরিয়ে নেব, আর এ থেকেই আমরা তোমাদের বের করে আনব দ্বিতীয় দফায়।’’
Thereof (the earth) We created you, and into it We shall return you, and from it We shall bring you out once again.
مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ
আর আমরা অবশ্যই তাকে দেখিয়েছিলাম আমাদের নিদর্শনাবলী - - তাদের সব ক’টি, কিন্তু সে প্রত্যাখ্যান করল ও অমান্য করল।
And indeed We showed him [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] all Our Ayat (signs and evidence), but he denied and refused.
وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ
সে বললে - - ''হে মূসা! তুমি কি আমাদের কাছে এসেছ তোমার জাদুর দ্বারা আমাদের দেশ থেকে আমাদের বিতাড়িত করতে?
He [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Musa (Moses)?
قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنْ أَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
তাহলে আমরাও আলবৎ তোমার কাছে নিয়ে আসছি এরই মতো জাদু, সুতরাং আমাদের মধ্যে ও তোমার মধ্যে একটি স্থানকাল ধার্য হোক যা আমরা ভাঙব না, - - আমরাও না আর তুমিও না, - - এক মধ্যস্থ জায়গায়।’’
"Then verily, we can produce magic the like thereof; so appoint a meeting between us and you, which neither we nor you shall fail to keep, in an open place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition)."
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ فَٱجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّا نُخْلِفُهُۥ نَحْنُ وَلَآ أَنتَ مَكَانًا سُوًى
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমাদের নির্ধারিত দিনক্ষণ হোক উৎসবের দিন, আর লোকজন যেন জমায়েৎ হয় সকালের দিকে।’’
[Musa (Moses)] said: "Your appointed meeting is the day of the festival, and let the people assemble when the sun has risen (forenoon)."
قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ ٱلزِّينَةِ وَأَن يُحْشَرَ ٱلنَّاسُ ضُحًى
তারপর ফিরআউন উঠে গেল এবং তার ফন্দি আটঁলো, তারপর সে ফিরে এল।
So Fir'aun (Pharaoh) withdrew, devised his plot and then came back.
فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُۥ ثُمَّ أَتَىٰ
মূসা তাদের বললেন - - ''ধিক্ তোমাদের! র প্রতি মিথ্যা আরোপ করো না, পাছে তিনি তোমাদের শাস্তি দিয়ে ধ্বংস করেন, আর যে মিথ্যা রচনা করে সে আলবৎ ব্যর্থ হয়।’’
Musa (Moses) said to them: "Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment. And surely, he who invents a lie (against Allah) will fail miserably."
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ
তারপর তারা তাদের নিজেদের মধ্যে তাদের কর্তব্য সন্বন্ধে পর্যালোচনা করল, আর সেই আলোচনাটা গোপন রাখল।
Then they debated one with another what they must do, and they kept their talk secret.
فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
তারা বলাবলি করলে - - ''এ দুজন নিশ্চয়ই তো দুই জাদুকর যারা চাইছে তাদের জাদু দিয়ে তোমাদের দেশ থেকে তোমাদের বিতাড়িত করতে, আর তোমাদের উৎকৃষ্ট আচার - অনুষ্ঠানকে বিনাশ করতে।
They said: "Verily these are two magicians. Their object is to drive you out from your land with magic, and overcome your chiefs and nobles.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَٰنِ لَسَٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلْمُثْلَىٰ
''সুতরাং তোমাদের ফন্দি - ফিকির ঠিক করে নাও, তারপর চলে এস সারি বেঁধে, আর সেই আজ বিজয় লাভ করবে যে উপর - হাত হতে পারবে।’’
"So devise your plot, and then assemble in line. And whoever overcomes this day will be indeed ."
فَأَجْمِعُوا۟ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ٱئْتُوا۟ صَفًّا وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْيَوْمَ مَنِ ٱسْتَعْلَىٰ
তারা বললে - - ''হে মূসা! তুমিই কি ছুড়ঁবে, না আমরাই হব প্রথমকার যে ছুড়ঁবে?’’
They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw first or we be the first to throw?"
قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِىَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''না, তোমরাই ছোঁড়ো।’’ তখন দেখো! তাদের দড়িদড়া ও তাদের লাঠি - লগুড় তাদের সম্মোহনের ফলে তাঁর কাছে মনে হচ্ছিল যে সেগুলো ঠিকঠিকই দৌড়চ্ছে।
[Musa (Moses)] said: "Nay, throw you (first)!" Then behold! their ropes and their sticks, by their magic, appeared to him as though they moved fast.
قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا۟ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَىٰ
ফলে মূসা তাঁর অন্তরে ভীতি অনুভব করলেন।
So Musa (Moses) conceived fear in himself.
فَأَوْجَسَ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ خِيفَةً مُّوسَىٰ
আমরা বললাম - - ''ভয় করো না, তুমি নিজেই হবে উপরহাত।
We (Allah) said: "Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand.
قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
''আর তোমার ডান হাতে যা আছে তা ছোঁড়ো, এটি খেয়ে ফেলবে তারা যা বানিয়েছে। নিঃসন্দেহ তারা বানিয়েছে জাদুকরের ভেলকিবাজি। আর জাদুকর কখনো সফল হবে না যেখান থেকেই সে আসুক।’’
"And throw that which is in your right hand! It will swallow up that which they have made. That which they have made is only a magician's trick, and the magician will never be , to whatever amount (of skill) he may attain."
وَأَلْقِ مَا فِى يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَعُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُوا۟ كَيْدُ سَٰحِرٍ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلسَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَىٰ
তারপর জাদুকররা লুটিয়ে পড়ল সিজদাবনত হয়ে, তারা বললেন - - ''আমরা ঈমান আনলাম হারূন ও মূসার প্রভুর প্রতি।’’
So the magicians fell down prostrate. They said: "We believe in the Lord of Harun (Aaron) and Musa (Moses)."
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًا قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَٰرُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ
সে বললে - - ''তোমরা তার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করলে আমি তোমাদের অনুমতি দেবার আগেই? সে - ই দেখছি তবে তোমাদের জাদুবিদ্যা শিখিয়েছে। কাজেই আমি নিশ্চয় তোমাদের হাত ও তোমাদের পা আড়াআড়িভাবে কেটে ফেলবই, আর আমি অবশ্যই তোমাদের শূলে চড়াব খেজুর গাছের কান্ডে, আর তোমরা অবশ্যই জানতে পারবে আমাদের মধ্যে কার দেওয়া শাস্তি বেশী কঠোর ও দীর্ঘস্থায়ী।’’
[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Believe you in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission? Verily he is your chief who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you on the trunks of date-palms, and you shall surely know which of us [I (Fir'aun - Pharaoh) or the Lord of Musa (Moses) (Allah)] can give the severe and more lasting torment."
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِى جُذُوعِ ٱلنَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْل
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা কখনই তোমাকে অধিকতর গুরুত্ব দেব না সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণের যা আমাদের কাছে এসেছে ও যিনি আমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন সে - সবের উপরে, কাজেই রায় দাও তুমি যা রায় দিতে চাও। তুমি তো রায় দিতে পার কেবল এই দুনিয়ার জীবন সন্বন্ধে।
They said: "We prefer you not over what have come to us of the clear signs and to Him (Allah) Who created us. So decree whatever you desire to decree, for you can only decree (regarding) this life of the world.
قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنَا فَٱقْضِ مَآ أَنتَ قَاضٍ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَآ
''নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা আমাদের প্রভুর প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি, যাতে তিনি ক্ষমা করেন আমাদের অপরাধসমূহ আব যেসব জাদুর প্রতি তুমি আমাদের বাধ্য করেছিলে। আর ই সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ ও চিরস্থায়ী।’’
"Verily we have believed in our Lord, that He may forgive us our faults, and the magic to which you did compel us. And Allah is better as regards reward in comparison to your [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh)] reward, and more lasting (as regards punishment in comparison to your punishment)."
إِنَّآ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَا وَمَآ أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلسِّحْرِ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
নিঃসন্দেহ যে কেউ তার প্রভুর কাছে আসে অপরাধী হয়ে তার জন্য তবে তো রয়েছে জাহান্নাম। সে সেখানে মরবে না, আর সে বাঁচবেও না।
Verily whoever comes to his Lord as a Mujrim (criminal, polytheist, sinner, in the Oneness of Allah and His Messengers), then surely, for him is Hell, wherein he will neither die nor live.
إِنَّهُۥ مَن يَأْتِ رَبَّهُۥ مُجْرِمًا فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
আর যে কেউ তাঁর কাছে আসে হয়ে সে সৎকাজও করেছে, তাহলে এরাই - - এদের জন্যেই রয়েছে অত্যুচ্চ মর্যাদা -
But whoever comes to Him (Allah) as a believer (in the Oneness of Allah), and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks (in the Hereafter), -
وَمَن يَأْتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنًا قَدْ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتُ ٱلْعُلَىٰ
নন্দন কানন, তার নিচ দিয়ে বয়ে চলে ঝরনারাজি, সেখানে তারা থাকবে চিরকাল। আর এটিই হচ্ছে পুরস্কার তার জন্য যে পবিত্র করেছে।
'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), under which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever: such is the reward of those who purify themselves (by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden and by doing all that Allah has ordained).
جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
আর আমরা অবশ্যই মূসার প্রতি প্রত্যাদেশ দিয়েছিলাম এই বলে - - ''আমার বান্দাদের নিয়ে রাত্রিকালে চলে যাও, আর তাদের জন্য সাগরের মধ্য দিয়ে একটি শুকনো পথ ভেঙ্গে চল, ধরা পড়ার আশংকা করো না, আর ভয় করো না।’’
And indeed We revealed to Musa (Moses) (saying): "Travel by night with Ibadi (My slaves) and strike a dry path for them in the sea, fearing neither to be overtaken [by Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] nor being afraid (of drowning in the sea)."
وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى فَٱضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ يَبَسًا لَّا تَخَٰفُ دَرَكًا وَلَا تَخْشَىٰ
অতঃপব ফিরআউন তার সৈন্যবাহিনী নিয়ে তাদের পশ্চাদ্বাবন করল, তখন সাগর থেকে তাদের ডুবিয়ে দিল যা তাদের ডুবিয়েছিল।
Then Fir'aun (Pharaoh) pursued them with his hosts, but the sea-water completely overwhelmed them and covered them up.
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِۦ فَغَشِيَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ
আর ফিরআউন তার লোকজনকে পথভ্রান্ত করেছিল, আর সে সৎপথে চালায় নি।
And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) led his people astray, and he did not guide them.
وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُۥ وَمَا هَدَىٰ
হে ইসরাইলের বংশধরগণ! আমরা নিশ্চয় তোমাদের উদ্ধার করেছিলাম তোমাদের শত্রুদের থেকে, আর আমরা তোমাদের সঙ্গে একটি ওয়াদা করেছিলাম পর্বতের ডান পার্শ্বে, আর তোমাদের নিকট আমরা পাঠিয়েছিলাম মান্না ও সালওয়া - -
O Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a covenant with you on the right side of the Mount, and We sent down to you Al-Manna and quails,
يَٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ قَدْ أَنجَيْنَٰكُم مِّنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَٰعَدْنَٰكُمْ جَانِبَ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلْأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ
''আমরা তোমাদের যা রিযেক দান করেছি তা থেকে ভাল ভাল বস্তু খাওয়া - দাওয়া করো, আর এতে সীমা ছাড়িয়ে যেও না, পাছে আমার ক্রোধ তোমাদের উপরে অবধারিত হয়ে যায়, আর যার উপরে আমার ক্রোধ অবধারিত হয় সে তো তাহলে ধ্বংস হয়ে যায়।
(Saying) eat of the Tayyibat (good lawful things) wherewith We have provided you, and commit no transgression or oppression therein, lest My Anger should justly descend on you. And he on whom My Anger descends, he is indeed perished. [Tafsir At-Tabari]
كُلُوا۟ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِى وَمَن يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِى فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ
''আর নিঃসন্দেহ আমি তো পরম পরিত্রাণকারী তার জন্য যে ফেরে ও বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে ও সৎকর্ম কবে, তারপব সঠিক পথে চলে।’’
And verily, I am indeed forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them, (till his death).
وَإِنِّى لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًا ثُمَّ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
''আর হে মূসা, কি তোমাকে তোমার লোকদের থেকে তাড়াতাড়ি নিয়ে এসেছে?’’
"And what made you hasten from your people, O Musa (Moses)?"
وَمَآ أَعْجَلَكَ عَن قَوْمِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''ঐ তো তারা আমার অনুসরণে রয়েছে, আর হে প্রভু! আমি তাড়াতাড়ি তোমার কাছে এসেছি, যেন তুমি সন্তষ্ট হও।’’
He said: "They are close on my footsteps: and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased."
قَالَ هُمْ أُو۟لَآءِ عَلَىٰٓ أَثَرِى وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''আমরা কিন্তু তোমার পরে তোমার লোকদের তো সংকটের মধ্যে ফেলে দিয়েছি, কারণ সামিরী তাদের বিপথে নিয়েছে।’’
(Allah) said: "Verily We have tried your people in your absence, and As-Samiri has led them astray."
قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ
তখন মূসা তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের নিকট ফিরে এলেন ত্রুদ্ধ ও ক্ষুদ্ধ হয়ে। তিনি বললেন - - ''হে আমার সম্প্রদায়! তোমাদের প্রভু কি তোমাদের সাথে ওয়াদা করেন নি এক উৎকৃষ্ট ওয়াদা? তবে কি প্রতিশ্রুত সময় তোমাদের জন্য দীর্ঘ মনে হয়েছিল, না তোমরা চেয়েছিলে যে তোমাদের প্রভুর শাস্তি তোমাদের উপরে অবধারিত হোক, যার জন্য তোমরা আমাকে দেওয়া ওয়াদার খেলাফ করেছ?’’
Then Musa (Moses) returned to his people in a state of anger and sorrow. He said: "O my people! Did not your Lord promise you a fair promise? Did then the promise seem to you long in coming? Or did you desire that wrath should descend from your Lord on you, that you broke your promise to me (i.e disbelieving in Allah and worshipping the calf)?"
فَرَجَعَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰنَ أَسِفًا قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ف
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা নিজেদের থেকে তোমাকে দেওয়া ওয়াদার খেলাফ করি নি, কিন্তু আমাদের উপরে লোকেদের অলংকারের বোঝা চাপিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছিল আমরা সে - সব ফেলে দিই, আর এভাবেই সামিরী বাতলেছিল।’’
They said: "We broke not the promise to you, of our own will, but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh)] people, then we cast them (into the fire), and that was what As-Samiri suggested."
قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَآ أَوْزَارًا مِّن زِينَةِ ٱلْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَٰهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ
তারপর সে তাদের জন্য এক গরুর গঠন করল - - এক কায়া মাত্র, ফাঁকা আওয়াজ ছিল তার, আর তারা বলেছিল - - ''এটিই তোমাদের খোদা ও মূসারও খোদা, কিন্তু তিনি ভুলে গেছেন!’’
Then he took out (of the fire) for them (a statue of) a calf which seemed to low. They said: "This is your ilah (god), and the ilah (god) of Musa (Moses), but he [Musa (Moses)] has forgotten (his god).'"
فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَّهُۥ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوا۟ هَٰذَآ إِلَٰهُكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِىَ
তারা কি তবে দেখে নি যে এটি তাদের প্রতি কথার জবাব দিত না, আর তার কোনো ক্ষমতা ছিল না তাদের ক্ষতি করবার, আর ছিল না উপকার করবাব?
Did they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good?
أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا
আর অবশ্য হারূন এর আগে তাদের বলেছিলেন - - ''হে আমার সম্প্রদায়! নিঃসন্দেহ তোমরা এর দ্বারা সংকটের মধ্যে পড়েছ, আর তোমাদের প্রভু তো পরম করুণাময়, সেজন্য আমার অনুসরণ করো এবং আমার নির্দেশ পালন করো।’’
And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Gracious, so follow me and obey my order."
وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَٰرُونُ مِن قَبْلُ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ فَٱتَّبِعُونِى وَأَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرِى
তারা বললে - - ''আমরা কিছুতেই একে ঘিরে বসে থাকা ছেড়ে দেব না যে পর্যন্ত না মূসা আমাদের কাছে ফিরে আসেন।’’
They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Musa (Moses) returns to us."
قَالُوا۟ لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَٰكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''হে হারূন! কিসে তোমাকে নিষেধ করেছিল যখন তাদের দেখলে তারা বিপথে যাচ্ছে - -
[Musa (Moses)] said: "O Harun (Aaron)! What prevented you when you saw them going astray;
قَالَ يَٰهَٰرُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوٓا۟
''যে জন্যে তুমি আমার অনুসরণ করো না? তবে কি তুমি আমার আদেশ অমান্য করলে?’’
"That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?"
أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِى
তিনি বললেন - - ''হে আমার সহোদর! আমার দাড়ি পাকড়ো না আর আমার মাথাও না, নিঃসন্দেহ আমি ভয় করেছিলাম পাছে তুমি বলো - - 'ইসরাইলের বংশধরদের মধ্যে তুমি বিভেদ ঘটিয়েছ এবং আমার কথার অপেক্ষা করো নি’।’’
He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' "
قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِىٓ إِنِّى خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِى
তিনি বললেন - - ''তবে তোমার কি বক্তব্য, হে সামিরী?’’
[Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)"
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَٰسَٰمِرِىُّ
সে বললে - - ''আমি দেখেছিলাম যা তারা দেখতে পায় নি, তাই আমি রসূলের পদচিহ্ন থেকে মুষ্টি - পরিমাণ মুঠোয় ধরেছিলাম, কিন্তু আমি তা বিসর্জন দিয়েছিলাম, আর আমার মন আমার জন্য এইভাবে করাটাই উপযুক্ত ঠাওরেছিল।’’
(Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the (hoof) print of the messenger [Jibril's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me."
قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِّنْ أَثَرِ ٱلرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِى نَفْسِى
তিনি বললেন, ''তবে দূর হও, নিঃসন্দেহ তোমার জীবদ্দশায় তবে এটিই রইল যে তুমি বলবে, 'ছুয়াঁছুঁয়ি নেই।’ আর নিঃসন্দেহ তোমার জন্য রয়েছে একটি ওয়াদা - - তোমাদের জন্য কখনো তার খেলাফ হবে না। আর তোমার উপাস্যের দিকে তাকাও যাকে ঘিরে বসে থেকে তুমি পূজো করতে। আমরা অবশ্যই এটি পুড়ে ফেলব, তারপর নিশ্চয়ই এটিকে ছিটিয়ে দেব সাগরে ছুঁড়ে ছুঁড়ে।’’
Musa (Moses) said: "Then go away! And verily, your (punishment) in this life will be that you will say: "Touch me not (i.e. you will live alone exiled away from mankind); and verily (for a future torment), you have a promise that will not fail. And look at your ilah (god) to which you have been devoted. We will certainly burn it, and scatter its particles in the sea."
قَالَ فَٱذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّه
তোমাদের উপাস্য তো কেবল , তিনিই তো, তিনি ছাড়া অন্য উপাস্য নেই। তিনি সবকিছু বেষ্টন করে আছেন জ্ঞানের দ্বারা।
Your Ilah (God) is only Allah, (the One) La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). He has full knowledge of all things.
إِنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا
এইভাবেই আমরা তোমার কাছে বিবৃত করি যা ইতিপূর্বে ঘটছে তার সংবাদ, আর আমরা নিশ্চয় তোমাকে দিয়েছি আমাদের কাছ থেকে এক স্মারক - গ্রন্থ।
Thus We relate to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Qur'an).
كَذَٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ وَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ مِن لَّدُنَّا ذِكْرًا
যে কেউ এ থেকে বিমুখ হবে সে - ই তো তবে কিয়ামতের দিনে বহন করবে বোঝা,
Whoever turns away from it (this Qur'an - i.e. does not believe in it, nor acts on its orders), verily, they will bear a heavy burden (of sins) on the Day of Resurrection,
مَّنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وِزْرًا
এর তলায় সে অবস্থান করে রইবে। আর কিয়ামতের দিনে তাদের জন্য এ বোঝা বড়ই মন্দ!
They will abide in that (state in the Fire of Hell) - and evil indeed will it be that load for them on the Day of Resurrection;
خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهِ وَسَآءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ حِمْلًا
সেইদিন শিঙ্গায় ফুৎকার দেয়া হবে, আর আমরা অপরাধীদের সেই দিনে সমবেত করব চোখ নীলাকার করে, - -
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown (the second blowing): that Day, We shall gather the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) blue or blind-eyed with thirst.
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ وَنَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا
তারা তাদের নিজেদের মধ্যে চুপিচুপি বলাবলি করবে - - ''তোমরা তো অবস্থান করেছ মাত্র দশেক।’’
They will speak in a very low voice to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)."
يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًا
আমরা ভাল জানি কি তারা বলাবলি করে যখন তাদের মধ্যে চালচলনে দক্ষ ব্যক্তি বলবেন - - ''তোমরা তো একদিন মাত্র অবস্থান করেছিলে।’’
We know very well what they will say, when the best among them in knowledge and wisdom will say: "You stayed no longer than a day!"
نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا يَوْمًا
আর তারা তোমাকে পাহাড়গুলো সন্বন্ধে জিজ্ঞাসা করে। কাজেই বলো - - ''আমার প্রভু তাদের ছড়িয়ে দেবেন ছিটিয়ে ছিটিয়ে।’’
And they ask you concerning the mountains: say, "My Lord will blast them and scatter them as particles of dust.
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّى نَسْفًا
তখন তকে পরিণত করবেন মসৃণ সমতল - ভূমিতে,
"Then He shall leave them as a level smooth plain.
فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعًا صَفْصَفًا
সেখানে তুমি দেখতে পাবে না কোনো আঁকানো - বাঁকানো আর না কোনো উঁচু - নিচু।
"You will see therein nothing crooked or curved."
لَّا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجًا وَلَآ أَمْتًا
সেইদিন তারা আহানকারীর অনুসরণ করবে, তাঁর মধ্যে কোনো আঁকানো - বাঁকানো নেই, আর গলার আওয়াজ হবে ক্ষীণ পরম করুণাময়ের সামনে, তারফলে তুমি মৃদু গুন ছাড়া আর কিছুই শুনবে না।
On that Day mankind will follow strictly (the voice of) Allah's caller, no crookedness (that is without going to the right or left of that voice) will they show him (Allah's caller). And all voices will be humbled for the Most Gracious (Allah), and nothing shall you hear but the low voice of their footsteps.
يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلدَّاعِىَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥ وَخَشَعَتِ ٱلْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا
সেইদিন কোনো সুপারিশে কাজ হবে না তাঁর ব্যতীত যাঁকে পরম করুণাময় অনুমতি দিয়েছেন, আর যার কথায় তিনি সন্তষ্ট হবেন।
On that day no intercession shall avail, except the one for whom the Most Gracious (Allah) has given permission and whose word is acceptable to Him.
يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا تَنفَعُ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَرَضِىَ لَهُۥ قَوْلًا
তিনি জানেন কি আছে তাদের সামনে আর কি রয়েছে তাদের পেছনে, আর তারা এটি জ্ঞানের দ্বারা ধারণা করতে পারে না।
He (Allah) knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them (in the Hereafter) but they will never compass anything of His Knowledge.
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِۦ عِلْمًا
আর চেহারাগুলো বিনয়াবনত হবে তাঁর কাছে যিনি চিরীব, সদা - বিদ্যমান। আর সে তো নিশ্চয় ব্যর্থ হবে যে অন্যায়াচরণের বোঝা বহন করবে।
And (all) faces shall be humbled before (Allah), Al-Hayyul-Qayyum (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists). And he who carried (a burden of) wrongdoing (i.e. he who disbelieved in Allah, ascribed partners to Him, and did deeds of His disobedience), will be indeed a complete failure (on that Day).
وَعَنَتِ ٱلْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَىِّ ٱلْقَيُّومِ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًا
আর যে কেউ সৎকর্ম থেকে কাজ করে যায় আর সে হয়, সে তবে আশঙ্কা করবে না কোনো অবিচারের, আর না কোনো ক্ষতি হবার।
And he who works deeds of righteousness, while he is a believer (in Islamic Monotheism), then he will have no fear of injustice, nor of any curtailment (of his reward).
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْمًا وَلَا هَضْمًا
আর এইভাবেই আমরা এটি অবতারণ করেছি - - একখানি আরবী কুরআন, আর তাতে বিশদভাবে বিবৃত করেছি সতর্কবাণী - গুলো থেকে যেন তারা ধর্মপরায়ণতা অবলন্বন করে, অথবা এটি যেন গুণকীর্তনে তাদের উপদেশ দান করে।
And thus We have sent it down as a Qur'an in Arabic, and have explained therein in detail the warnings, in order that they may fear Allah, or that it may cause them to have a lesson from it (or to have the honour for believing and acting on its teachings).
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًا
কাজেই অতি মহান, রাজাধিরাজ, চিরন্তন সত্য, আর কুরআন নিয়ে তুমি তাড়াতাড়ি করো না তোমার কাছে এর প্রত্যাদেশ সম্পূর্ণ হওয়ার আগে, বরং বলো - - ''আমার প্রভু! আমাকে জ্ঞান - বিজ্ঞান তুমি বাড়িয়ে দাও’’।
Then High above all be Allah, the True King. And be not in haste (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you, and say: "My Lord! Increase me in knowledge."
فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۥ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا
আর আমরা অবশ্যই ইতিপূর্বে আদমের প্রতি অঙ্গীকার আরোপ করেছিলাম, কিন্তু সে ভুলে গিয়েছিল, আর আমরা তার মধ্যে কোনো উদ্দেশ্য পাই নি।
And indeed We made a covenant with Adam before, but he forgot, and We found on his part no firm will-power.
وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًا
আর আমরা যখন ফিরিশ্তাদের বললাম - - ''আদমকে সিজদা করো’’, তখন তারা সিজদা করল, কিন্তু ইবলিস করল না, সে অমান্য করল।
And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves to Adam." They prostrated themselves (all) except Iblis (Satan) he refused.
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ
সুতরাং আমরা বললাম - - ''হে আদম! নিঃসন্দেহ এ তোমার প্রতি ও তোমার সঙ্গিনীর প্রতি একজন শত্রু, সে যেন বাগান থেকে তোমাদের বের করে না দেয়, তেমন হলে তুমি দুঃখকষ্ট ভোগ করবে।
Then We said: "O Adam! Verily, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So let him not get you both out of Paradise, so that you will be distressed.
فَقُلْنَا يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا عَدُوٌّ لَّكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْقَىٰٓ
''নিঃসন্দেহ তোমার জন্য এটি যে তুমি সেখানে ক্ষুধা বোধ করবে না, আর তুমি নগ্নও হবে না।
Verily, you have (a promise from Us) that you will never be hungry therein nor naked.
إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَىٰ
''আর তুমি নিশ্চয়ই সেখানে পিপাসার্ত হবে না অথবা রোদেও পুড়বে না।’’
And you (will) suffer not from thirst therein nor from the sun's heat.
وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَؤُا۟ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَىٰ
অতঃপর শয়তান তাকে কুমন্ত্রণা দিল, সে বললে - - ''হে আদম! আমি কি তোমাকে চালিয়ে নিয়ে যাব অনন্ত - জীবনদায়ক গাছের দিকে ও এক রাজত্বের দিকে যার ক্ষয় নেই?’’
Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered to him, saying: "O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?"
فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ قَالَ يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ ٱلْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ لَّا يَبْلَىٰ
কাজেই এ থেকে তারা খেল, সুতরাং তাদের লজ্জাস্থানগুলো তাদের কাছে প্রকাশ পেলো, তখন তারা নিজেদের ঢাকতে আরম্ভ করল সেই বাগানের পাতা দিয়ে। আর আদম তার প্রভুর অবাধ্য হয়েছিল, সেজন্য সে ভ্রান্তপথ ধরল।
Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts became manifest to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of the Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray.
فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ
এরপর তার প্রভু তাকে নির্বাচিত করলেন আর তার প্রতি ফিরলেন এবং তাকে পথনির্দেশ দিলেন।
Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance.
ثُمَّ ٱجْتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَىٰ
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমরা উভয়ে এখান থেকে চলে যাও - - সব ক’জন মিলে, তোমাদের কেউ কেউ অপরদের শত্রু। পরে তোমাদের কাছে আমার পক্ষ থেকে অবশ্যই পথনির্দেশ আসবে, তখন যে আমার পথনির্দেশ অনুসরণ করবে সে তবে বিপথে যাবে না ও দুঃখ - কষ্ট ভোগবে না।
He (Allah) said: "Get you down (from the Paradise to the earth), both of you, together, some of you are an enemy to some others. Then if there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My Guidance he shall neither go astray, nor shall be distressed.
قَالَ ٱهْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًۢا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى فَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ
''আর যেইজন আমার স্মরণ থেকে ফিরে যাবে তার জন্যে তবে নিশ্চয়ই রয়েছে সংকুচিত জীবিকানির্বাহের উপায়, আর কিয়ামতের দিনে আমরা তাকে তুলব অন্ধ অবস্থায়।’’
"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its teachings.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection."
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِى فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَعْمَىٰ
সে বলবে - - ''আমার প্রভু! কেন তুমি আমাকে অন্ধ করে তুলেছ, অথচ আমি তো ছিলাম চক্ষুষ্মান?’’
He will say: "O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)."
قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَنِىٓ أَعْمَىٰ وَقَدْ كُنتُ بَصِيرًا
তিনি বলবেন - - ''এইভাবেই আমাদের নির্দেশাবলী তোমার কাছে এসেছিল, কিন্তু তুমি তা অবহেলা করেছিলে, সুতরাং সেইভাবেই আজকের দিনে তুমি অবহেলিত হলে।’’
(Allah) will say: "Like this: Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah's Mercy)."
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتْكَ ءَايَٰتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ تُنسَىٰ
আর এইভাবেই আমরা প্রতিদান দিই তাকে যে বাড়াবাড়ি করে ও তার প্রভুর নির্দেশাবলীতে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে না। আর পরকালের শাস্তি তো বড় কঠোর আর আরো স্থায়ী।
And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allah) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Qur'an], and believes not in the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord; and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنۢ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
এটি কি তাদের সৎপথ দেখায় না যে তাদের পূর্বে আমরা ধ্বংস করেছি কত জনপদকে যাদের বাসভূমিতে এরা বিচরণ করছে? নিঃসন্দেহ এতে তো নিদর্শন রয়েছে বিবেক - বুদ্ধিসম্পন্নদের জন্য।
Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many generations We have destroyed before them, in whose dwellings they walk? Verily, in this are signs indeed for men of understanding.
أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَٰكِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلنُّهَىٰ
আর যদি ঘোষণাটি তোমার প্রভুর তরফ থেকে আগেই সাব্যস্ত না হতো তবে এটি অবশ্যাবী হতো, কিন্তু একটি নির্ধারিত কাল রয়েছে।
And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, and a term determined, (their punishment) must necessarily have come (in this world).
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامًا وَأَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى
সেজন্য অধ্যবসায় অবলন্বন করো তারা যা বলে তাতে, আর তোমার প্রভুর প্রশংসার দ্বারা মহিমা জপে থাকো সূর্য উদয়ের আগে ও তার অস্ত যাবার আগে, আর রাত্রির কিছু সময়েও তবে জপতপ করো, আর দিনের বেলায়, যাতে তুমি সন্তষ্টি লাভ করতে পারো।
So bear patiently (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) what they say, and glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting, and during some hours of the night, and at the ends of the day (an indication for the five compulsory congregational prayers), that you may become pleased (with the reward which Allah shall give you).
فَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا وَمِنْ ءَانَآئِ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْرَافَ ٱلنَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْضَىٰ
আর তোমার চোখ টাটিয়ো না তার প্রতি যা দিয়ে তাদের মধ্যেকার কোনো কোনো দম্পতিকে আমরা আপ্যায়িত করেছি - - দুনিয়ার জীবনের আড়ন্বর, যেন তার দ্বারা আমরা তাদের পরীক্ষা করতে পারি। আর তোমার প্রভুপ্রদত্ত রিযেক অধিকতর ভালো ও বেশী স্থায়ী।
And strain not your eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to various groups of them (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), the splendour of the life of this world, that We may test them thereby. But the provision (good reward in the Hereafter) of your Lord is better and more lasting.
وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ
আর তোমার পরিবারবর্গকে নামাযের নির্দেশ দাও আর তাতে লেগে থাকো। আমরা তোমার কাছ থেকে কোনো রিযেক চাই না, আমরাই তোমাকে রিযেক দান করি। আর শুভ পরিণাম তো ধর্মপরায়ণতার জন্য।
And enjoin As-Salat (the prayer) on your family, and be patient in offering them [i.e. the Salat (prayers)]. We ask not of you a provision (i.e. to give Us something: money): We provide for you. And the good end (i.e. Paradise) is for the Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).
وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا لَا نَسْـَٔلُكَ رِزْقًا نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ
আর তারা বলে - - ''কেন সে তার প্রভুর কাছ থেকে আমাদের জন্য একটি নিদর্শন নিয়ে আসে না?’’ কী! তাদের কাছে কি পূর্ববর্তী গ্রন্থগুলোয় যা আছে সে সন্বন্ধে সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ আসে নি?
They say: "Why does he not bring us a sign (proof) from his Lord?" Has there not come to them the proof of that which is (written) in the former papers [Scriptures, i.e. the Taurat (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel), about the coming of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم]?
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا يَأْتِينَا بِـَٔايَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓ أَوَلَمْ تَأْتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
আর আমরা যদি এর আগে তাদের ধ্বংস করতাম শাস্তি দিয়ে তবে তারা বলতে পারত - - ''আমাদের প্রভু! তুমি কেন আমাদের কাছে একজন রসূল পাঠাও নি, তাহলে তো আমরা তোমার নির্দেশাবলী অনুসরণ করতে পারতাম আমাদের লাঞ্ছনা ভোগ করবার ও আমাদের অপমান অনুভবের আগেভাগেই?’’
And if We had destroyed them with a torment before this (i.e. Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Qur'an), they would surely have said: "Our Lord! If only You had sent us a Messenger, we should certainly have followed Your Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), before we were humiliated and disgraced."
وَلَوْ أَنَّآ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُم بِعَذَابٍ مِّن قَبْلِهِۦ لَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن نَّذِلَّ وَنَخْزَىٰ
তুমি বলো - - '' প্রত্যেকেই প্রতীক্ষা করছে, সুতরাং তোমরাও প্রতীক্ষা কর, তাহলে অচিরেই তোমরা জানতে পারবে কারা সঠিক পথের লোক এবং কারা সৎপথে চলেছে।’’
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Each one (believer and .) is waiting, so wait you too; and you shall know who are they that are on the Straight and Even Path (i.e. Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism), and who are they that have let themselves be guided (on the Right Path).
قُلْ كُلٌّ مُّتَرَبِّصٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ ٱلسَّوِىِّ وَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
