Chapter 37, 182 verses
ভেবে দেখো তাদের যারা কাতারে কাতারে সারিবদ্ধভাবে দাঁড়িয়ে রয়েছে,
By those who range themselves in ranks,
শপথ তাহাদের যাহারা সারিবদ্ধভাবে দণ্ডায়মান
By those [angels] lined up in rows
আর যারা বিতাড়িত করে প্রবল বিতাড়নে,
And so are strong in repelling (evil),
ও যাহারা কঠোর পরিচালক
And those who drive [the clouds]
আর যারা স্মারকগ্রন্থ পাঠ করে!
And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)!
এবং যাহারা ‘যিকির’ আবৃত্তিতে রত -
And those who recite the message,
নিঃসন্দেহ তোমাদের উপাস্য মাত্র একজন,
Verily, verily, your Allah is one! -
নিশ্চয়ই তোমাদের ইলাহ্ এক,
Indeed, your God is One,
যিনি মহাকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর এবং এদের উভয়ের মধ্যবর্তী সমস্ত কিছুর প্রভু, আর যিনি উদয়স্থল সমূহেরও প্রভু,
Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!
যিনি আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী এবং উহাদের অন্তর্বর্তী সমস্ত কিছুর প্রভু এবং প্রভু সকল উদয়স্থলের।
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.
নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা নিকটবর্তী আকাশকে তারকারাজির শোভা দিয়ে সুশোভিত করেছি, - -
We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars, -
আমি নিকটবর্তী আকাশকে নক্ষত্ররাজির সুষমা দ্বারা সুশোভিত করিয়াছি,
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
আর প্রতিরক্ষা প্রত্যেক বিদ্রোহাচারী শয়তান থেকে।
(For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,
এবং রক্ষা করিয়াছি প্রত্যেক বিদ্রোহী শয়তান হইতে।
And as protection against every rebellious devil
তারা কান পাততে পারে না ঊর্ধ্ব এলাকার দিকে, আর তাদের প্রতি নিক্ষেপ করা হয় সব দিক থেকে, - -
(So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,
ফলে উহারা ঊর্ধ্ব জগতের কিছু শ্রবণ করিতে পারে না এবং উহাদের প্রতি নিক্ষিপ্ত হয় সকল দিক হইতে -
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,
বিতাড়িত, আর তাদের জন্য রয়েছে নিরবচ্ছিন্ন শাস্তি, - -
Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,
বিতাড়নের জন্য এবং উহাদের জন্য আছে অবিরাম শাস্তি।
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
সে ব্যতীত যে ছিনিয়ে নেয় একটুকুন ছিনতাই, কিন্তু তাকে অনুসরণ করে একটি জ্বলন্ত অগ্নিশিখা।
Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.
তবে কেহ হঠাৎ কিছু শুনিয়া ফেলিলে জ্বলন্ত উল্কাপিণ্ড তাহার পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে।
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
সুতরাং তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করো, - - গঠনে তারা কি বেশী বলিষ্ঠ না যাদের আমরা সৃষ্টি করেছি? নিঃসন্দেহ তাদের আমরা সৃষ্টি করেছি আঠালো কাদা থেকে।
Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!
উহাদেরকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর, উহারা সৃষ্টিতে দৃঢ়তর, না আমি অন্য যাহা কিছু সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি তাহা? উহাদেরকে আমি সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি আঠাল মৃত্তিকা হইতে।
Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.
বস্তুতঃ তুমি তো তাজ্জব হচ্ছো, আর তারা করছে মস্করা।
Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,
তুমি তো বিস্ময় বোধ করিতেছ, আর উহারা করিতেছে বিদ্রুপ।
But you wonder, while they mock,
আর যখন তাদের স্মরণ করিয়ে দেওয়া হয় তারা মনোযোগ দেয় না,
And, when they are admonished, pay no heed, -
এবং যখন উহাদেরকে উপদেশ দেওয়া হয় উহারা তাহা গ্রহণ করে না।
And when they are reminded, they remember not.
আর যখন তারা কোনো নিদর্শন দেখতে পায় তারা ঠাট্টাবিদ্রূপ করে,
And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,
উহারা কোন নিদর্শন দেখিলে উপহাস করে
And when they see a sign, they ridicule
আর বলে - - ''এটি স্পষ্ট জাদু বৈ তো নয়’’,
And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery!
এবং বলে, ‘ইহা তো এক সুস্পষ্ট জাদু ব্যতীত আর কিছুই নয়।’
And say, "This is not but obvious magic.
''কী! যখন আমরা মারা যাব এবং ধূলোমাটি ও হাড়গোড় হয়ে যাব তখন কি আমরা ঠিকঠিকই পুনরুত্থিত হব?’’
"What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)
‘আমরা যখন মরিয়া যাইব এবং মৃত্তিকা ও অস্থিতে পরিণত হইব, তখনও কি আমাদেরকে উত্থিত করা হইবে?
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
''আর কি পুরাকালের আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষরাও?’’
"And also our fathers of old?"
‘এবং আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকেও?’
And our forefathers [as well]?"
তুমি বলো - - ''হাঁ, আর তোমরা লাঞ্ছিত হবে।’’
Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)."
বল, ‘হাঁ, এবং তোমরা হইবে লাঞ্ছিত।’
Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."
তখন সেটি কিন্তু একটিমাত্র মহাগর্জন হবে, তখন দেখো! তারা চেয়ে থাকবে।
Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see!
উহা একটি মাত্র প্রচণ্ড শব্দ - আর তখনই উহারা প্রত্যক্ষ করিবে।
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
আর তারা বলবে - - ''হায় ধিক্, আমাদের! এটিই তো বিচারের দিন!’’
They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!"
এবং উহারা বলিবে, ‘দুর্ভোগ আমাদের! ইহাই তো কর্মফল দিবস।’
They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."
''এইটিই ফয়সালা করার দিন যেটি সন্বন্ধে তোমরা মিথ্যা আখ্যা দিতে।’’
(A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"
ইহাই ফয়সালার দিন যাহা তোমরা অস্বীকার করিতে।
[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."
''যারা অনাচার করেছিল তাদের একত্র করো, আর তাদের সহচরদের, আর তাদেরও যাদের তারা উপাসনা করত - -
"Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong - doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped -
ফিরিশ্তাদেরকে বলা হইবে, ‘একত্র কর ও উহাদের সহচরগণকে এবং উহাদেরকে যাহাদের ‘ইবাদত করিত তাহারা -
[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship
''কে বাদ দিয়ে, তারপর তাদের পরিচালিত করো দুযখের পথে।
"Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire!
র পরিবর্তে এবং উহাদেরকে পরিচালিত কর জাহান্নামের পথে,
Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
''আর তাদের থামাও, তারা অবশ্যই জিজ্ঞাসিত হবে,
"But stop them, for they must be asked:
‘অতঃপর উহাদেরকে থামাও, কারণ উহাদেরকে প্রশ্ন করা হইবে :
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
''তোমাদের কি হল, তোমরা পরস্পরকে সাহায্য করছ না?’’
"'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'"
‘তোমাদের কী হইল যে, তোমরা একে অপরের সাহায্য করিতেছ না?’
[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"
বস্তুতঃ সেদিন তারা আত্মসমর্পিত হবে।
Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment);
বস্তুত সেই দিন উহারা আত্মসর্মপণ করিবে
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
আর তাদের কেউ কেউ অন্যদের দিকে এগিয়ে যাবে পরস্পরকে প্রশ্ন করে - -
And they will turn to one another, and question one another.
এবং উহারা একে অপরের সামনাসামনি হইয়া জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করিবে -
And they will approach one another blaming each other.
তারা বলবে - - ''তোমরাই তো নিশ্চয়ই আমাদের কাছে আসতে ডান দিকে থেকে।’’
They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"
উহারা বলিবে, ‘তোমরা তো তোমাদের শক্তি লইয়া আমাদের নিকট আসিতে।’
They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."
তারা বলবে - - ''না, তোমরা তো বিশ্বাসীই ছিলে না,
They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!
তাহারা বলিবে, তোমরা তো বিশ্বাসীই ছিলে না,
The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
''আর তোমাদের উপরে আমাদের কোনো আধিপত্য ছিল না, বরং তোমরাই ছিলে উচ্ছৃঙ্খল লোক।
"Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!
‘এবং তোমাদের উপর আমাদের কোন কর্তৃত্ব ছিল না ; বস্তুত তোমরাই ছিলে সীমালংঘনকারী সম্প্রদায়।
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
''সেজন্যে আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের প্রভুর বাণী সত্য প্রতিপন্ন হয়েছে, আমরা নিশ্চয়ই আস্বাদন করতে যাচ্ছি।
"So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins).
‘আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের প্রতিপালকের কথা সত্য হইয়াছে, আমাদেরকে অবশ্যই শাস্তি আস্বাদন করিতে হইবে।
So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
''বস্তুত আমরা তোমাদের বিপথে নিয়েছিলাম, কেননা আমরা নিজেরাই বিপথগামী ছিলাম।’’
"We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."
‘আমরা তোমাদেরকে বিভ্রান্ত করিয়াছিলাম, কারণ আমরা নিজেরাও ছিলাম বিভ্রান্ত।’
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."
সুতরাং সেইদিন তারা নিশ্চয়ই শাস্তিতে একে অন্যের শরিক হবে।
Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty.
উহারা সকলেই সেই দিন শাস্তির শরীক হইবে।
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
নিঃসন্দেহ এইরূপই আমরা অপরাধীদের প্রতি করে থাকি।
Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners.
অপরাধীদের প্রতি আমি এইরূপই করিয়া থাকি।
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
নিঃসন্দেহ যখন তাদের বলা হতো - - ' ছাড়া অন্য উপাস্য নেই’, তখন তারা হামবড়াই করত,
For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,
উহাদেরকে ‘ ব্যতীত কোন ইলাহ্ নাই’ বলা হইলে উহারা অহংকার করিত
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
আর তারা বলত - - ''কী! আমরা কি আমাদের উপাস্যদের সত্যিই ত্যাগ করব একজন পাগলা কবির কারণে?’’
And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?"
এবং বলিত, ‘আমরা কি এক উন্মাদ কবির কথায় আমাদের ইলাহ্গণকে বর্জন করিব?’
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
বস্তুত তিনি সত্য নিয়ে এসেছেন, আর রসূলগণকে তিনি সত্য প্রতিপন্ন করেছেন।
Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him).
বরং সে তো সত্য লইয়া আসিয়াছে এবং সে রাসূলদেরকে সত্য বলিয়া স্বীকার করিয়াছে।
Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
তোমরা নিশ্চয়ই মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি আস্বাদন করতেই যাচ্ছ,
Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty; -
তোমরা অবশ্যই মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তির আস্বাদ গ্রহণ করিবে।
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
আর তোমাদের প্রতিদান দেওয়া হবে না তোমরা যা করতে তা ব্যতীত, - -
But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought; -
এবং তোমরা যাহা করিতে তাহারই প্রতিফল পাইবে -
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -
র নিষ্ঠাবান বান্দারা ব্যতীত।
But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah, -
তবে তাহারা নয় যাহারা র একনিষ্ঠ বান্দা।
But not the chosen servants of Allah.
এরাই - - এদের জন্য রয়েছে সুপরিচিত রিযেক,
For them is a Sustenance determined,
তাহাদের জন্য আছে নির্ধারিত রিযিক -
Those will have a provision determined -
ফলমূল, আর তারা হবে সম্মানিত - -
Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity,
ফলমূল; আর তাহারা হইবে সম্মানিত,
Fruits; and they will be honored
আনন্দময় উদ্যানে,
In Gardens of Felicity,
সুখদ - কাননে
In gardens of pleasure
তখতের উপরে মুখোমুখি হয়ে রইবে।
Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity):
তাহারা মুখামুখি হইয়া আসনে আসীন হইবে।
On thrones facing one another.
তাদের কাছে ঘুরে ফিরে পরিবেশন করা হবে নির্মল ফোয়ারা থেকে এক শরবতের পাত্র, - -
Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear - flowing fountain,
তাহাদেরকে ঘুরিয়া ঘুরিয়া পরিবেশন করা হইবে বিশুদ্ধ সুরাপূর্ণ পাত্রে।
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
সাদা সুস্বাদু পানকারীদের জন্য।
Crystal - white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof),
শুভ্র উজ্জ্বল, যাহা হইবে পানকারীদের জন্য সুস্বাদু।
White and delicious to the drinkers;
এতে মাথাব্যথা নেই, আর তারা এ থেকে মাতালও হবে না।
Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.
উহাতে ক্ষতিকর কিছু থাকিবে না এবং উহাতে তাহারা মাতালও হইবে না,
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
আর তাদের কাছে থাকবে সলাজ - নম্র আয়তলোচন, - -
And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty).
তাহাদের সঙ্গে থাকিবে আনতনয়না, আয়তলোচনা হূরীগণ।
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,
যেন তারা সুরক্ষিত ডিম।
As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded.
তাহারা যেন সুরক্ষিত ডিম্ব।
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well - protected.
তখন তাদের কেউ কেউ অন্যদের দিকে এগিয়ে যাবে পরস্পরকে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে।
Then they will turn to one another and question one another.
তাহারা একে অপরের সামনাসামনি হইয়া জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করিবে।
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
তাদের মধ্যে কোনো এক বক্তা বলবে - - ''আমার অবশ্য এক বন্ধু ছিল,
One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),
তাহাদের কেহ বলিবে, ‘আমার ছিল এক সঙ্গী;
A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]
''সে বলত, 'তুমি কি নিশ্চয়ই সমর্থনকারীদের মধ্যেকার?
"Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)?
‘সে বলিত, ‘তুমি কি ইহাতে যে,
Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
''কী! যখন আমরা মরে যাব এবং ধূলোমাটি ও হাড়গোড় হয়ে যাব, তখন কি আমরা ঠিকঠিকই প্রতিফল ভোগ করব’?’’
"'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"
‘আমরা যখন মরিয়া যাইব এবং আমরা মৃত্তিকা ও অস্থিতে পরিণত হইব তখনও কি আমাদেরকে প্রতিফল দেওয়া হইবে?’
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"
সে বলবে - - ''তোমরা কি উঁকি দিয়ে দেখবে?’’
(A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?"
বলিবেন, ‘তোমরা কি তাহাকে দেখিতে চাও ?’
He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"
তখন সে উঁকি দেবে আর ওকে দুযখের কেন্দ্রস্থলে দেখতে পাবে।
He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.
অতঃপর সে ঝুঁকিয়া দেখিবে এবং উহাকে দেখিতে পাইবে জাহান্নামের মধ্যস্থলে;
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.
সে বলবে - - ''র কসম! তুমি তো আমাকে প্রায় ধ্বংস করেছিলে,
He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!
বলিবে, র কসম! তুমি তাে আমাকে প্রায় ধ্বংসই করিয়াছিলে,
He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me.
''আর আমার প্রভুর অনুগ্রহ যদি না থাকত তবে আমিও নিশ্চয় উপস্থিতদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতাম।’’
"Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)!
‘আমার প্রতিপালকের অনুগ্রহ না থাকিলে আমিও তো হাযিরকৃত ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে শামিল হইতাম।
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
''তবে কি আমরা মরতে যাচ্ছি না, - -
"Is it (the case) that we shall not die,
‘আমাদের তো আর মৃত্যু হইবে না
Then, are we not to die
''আমাদের প্রথমবারের মৃত্যু ব্যতীত, আর আমরা শাস্তি পেতে যাচ্ছি না।
"Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?"
‘প্রথম মৃত্যুর পর এবং আমাদেরকে শাস্তিও দেওয়া হইবে না!’
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
''নিশ্চয়ই এই - - এটিই তো মহাসাফল্য!’’
Verily this is the supreme achievement!
ইহা তো মহাসাফল্য।
Indeed, this is the great attainment.
এর অনুরূপ অবস্থার জন্য তবে কর্মীরা কাজ করে যাক।
For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive.
এইরূপ সাফল্যের জন্য সাধকদের উচিত সাধনা করা,
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
এইটিই অধিক ভাল আপ্যায়ন, না যাক্কুম গাছ?
Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?
আপ্যায়নের জন্য কি ইহাই শ্রেয় না যাক্কুম বৃক্ষ?
Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?
নিঃসন্দেহ আমরা এটিকে সৃষ্টি করেছি দুরাচারীদের জন্য পরীক্ষা স্বরূপ।
For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong - doers.
জালিমদের জন্য আমি ইহা সৃষ্টি করিয়াছি পরীক্ষাস্বরূপ,
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
নিঃসন্দেহ এটি এমন এক গাছ যা দুযখের তলায় - -
For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell - Fire:
এই বৃক্ষ উদ্গত হয় জাহান্নামের তলদেশ হইতে,
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
এর ফলফসল যেন শয়তানদের মুন্ডু।
The shoots of its fruit - stalks are like the heads of devils:
ইহার মোচা যেন শয়তানের মাথা
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
তারা তখন নিশ্চয় এ থেকে আহার করবে আর এর দ্বারা পেট ভর্তি করবে।
Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
অবশ্যই উহারা ইহা হইতে ভক্ষণ করিবে এবং উদর পূর্ণ করিবে ইহা দ্বারা।
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
তারপর অবশ্য তাদের জন্য এর উপরে থাকবে ফুটন্ত জলের পানীয়।
Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.
তদুপরি উহাদের জন্য থাকিবে ফুটন্ত পানির মিশ্রণ।
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
তারপর নিশ্চয়ই তাদের প্রত্যাবর্তনস্থল হবে ভয়ঙ্কর আগুনের প্রতি।
Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire.
আর উহাদের গন্তব্য হইবে অবশ্যই অগ্নির দিকে।
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
তারা আলবৎ তাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের পথভ্রষ্টরূপেই পেয়েছিল,
Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;
উহারা উহাদের পিতৃপুরুষগণকে পাইয়াছিল বিপথগামী।
Indeed they found their fathers astray.
তাই তারা তাদের পদচিহ্নের অন্ধ অনুসরণ করেছিল,
So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps!
এবং তাহাদের পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণে ধাবিত হইয়াছিল।
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
আর তাদের আগে অধিকাংশ পূর্ববর্তীরা বিপথে গিয়েছিল,
And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray; -
উহাদের পূর্বেও পূর্ববর্তীদের অধিকাংশ বিপথগামী হইয়াছিল,
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
অথচ আমরা তাদের মধ্যে ইতিপূর্বে সতর্ককারীদের পাঠিয়েছিলাম,
But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them; -
এবং আমি উহাদের মধ্যে সতর্ককারী প্রেরণ করিয়াছিলাম।
And We had already sent among them warners.
সুতরাং চেয়ে দেখো কেমন হয়েছিল সতর্কীকৃতদের পরিণাম,
Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not), -
সুতরাং লক্ষ্য কর যাহাদেরকে সতর্ক করা হইয়াছিল, তাহাদের পরিণাম কী হইয়াছিল!
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
শুধু র খাস বান্দাদের ব্যতীত।
Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah.
তবে র একনিষ্ঠ বান্দাদের কথা স্বতন্ত্র।
But not the chosen servants of Allah.
আর ইতিপূর্বে অবশ্য নূহ আমাদের আহ্বান করেছিলেন, আর আমরা কত উত্তম উত্তরদাতা।
(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer.
নূহ্ আমাকে আহ্বান করিয়াছিল, আর আমি কত উত্তম সাড়াদানকারী।
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
আর আমরা তাঁকে ও তাঁর পরিজনকে ভীষণ সংকট থেকে উদ্ধার করেছিলাম,
And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity,
তাহাকে এবং তাহার পরিবারবর্গকে আমি উদ্ধার করিয়াছিলাম মহাসংকট হইতে।
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
আর তাঁর সন্তান - সন্ততিকে আমরা বানিয়েছিলাম প্রকৃত টিকে থাকা দল,
And made his progeny to endure (on this earth);
তাহার বংশধরদেরকেই আমি বিদ্যমান রাখিয়াছি বংশপরম্পরায়,
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
আর তাঁর জন্য পরবর্তীদের মধ্যে আমরা রেখেছিলাম - -
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times:
আমি ইহা পরবর্তীদের স্মরণে রাখিয়াছি।
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
সমগ্র বিশ্বজগতের মধ্যে নূহের প্রতি সালাম!
"Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!"
সমগ্র বিশ্বের মধ্যে নূহের প্রতি শান্তি বর্ষিত হউক!
"Peace upon Noah among the worlds."
নিঃসন্দেহ এইভাবেই আমরা সৎকর্মশীলদের প্রতিদান দিয়ে থাকি।
Thus indeed do we reward those who do right.
এইভাবেই আমি সৎকর্মপরায়ণদেরকে পুরস্কৃত করিয়া থাকি,
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
তিনি অবশ্যই আমাদের বান্দাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিলেন।
For he was one of our believing Servants.
সে ছিল আমার বান্দাদের অন্যতম।
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
আর আমরা অন্যান্যদের ডুবিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম।
Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood.
অন্য সকলকে আমি নিমজ্জিত করিয়াছিলাম।
Then We drowned the disbelievers.
আর নিশ্চয়ই তাঁর পশ্চাদবর্তীদের মধ্যে ছিলেন ইব্রাহীম।
Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham.
আর ইব্রাহীম তো তাহার অনুগামীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
স্মরণ কর! তিনি তাঁর প্রভুর কাছে এসেছিলেন বিশুদ্ধ চিত্ত নিয়ে, - -
Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart.
স্মরণ কর, সে তাহার প্রতিপালকের নিকট উপস্থিত হইয়াছিল বিশুদ্ধচিত্তে;
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
যখন তাঁর পিতৃপুরুষকে ও তাঁর স্বজাতিকে তিনি বলেছিলেন - - ''তোমরা কিসের উপাসনা করছ?
Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship?
যখন সে তাহার পিতা ও তাহার সম্প্রদায়কে জিজ্ঞাসা করিয়াছিল, ‘তোমরা কিসের পূজা করিতেছ?
[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?
''তোমরা আল্লাহকে বাদ দিয়ে কি এক মিথ্যা উপাস্যকেই কামনা কর?
"Is it a falsehood - gods other than Allah - that ye desire?
‘তােমরা কি র পরিবর্তে অলীক ইলাহ্গুলিকে চাও ?
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire?
''তাহলে বিশ্বজগতের প্রভু সন্বন্ধে কী তোমাদের ধারণা?’’
"Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?"
‘জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক সম্বন্ধে তোমাদের ধারণা কী?’
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"
তারপর তারকারাজির দিকে তিনি একনজর তাকালেন,
Then did he cast a glance at the Stars.
অতঃপর সে তারকারাজির দিকে একবার তাকাইল
And he cast a look at the stars
তখন তিনি বললেন - - ''আমি যারপর নাই বিরক্ত!’’
And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!"
এবং বলিল, ‘আমি অসুস্থ।’
And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."
সুতরাং তারা তাঁর কাছ থেকে বিমুখ হয়ে ফিরে গেল।
So they turned away from him, and departed.
অতঃপর উহারা তাহাকে পশ্চাতে রাখিয়া চলিয়া গেল।
So they turned away from him, departing.
তারপর তিনি তাদের উপাস্যদের কাছে ফিরে গেলেন এবং বললেন - - ''তোমরা খাও না কেন?
Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?...
পরে সে সন্তর্পণে উহাদের দেবতাগুলির নিকট গেল এবং বলিল, ‘তোমরা খাদ্য গ্রহণ করিতেছ না কেন?’
Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?
''তোমাদের কী হয়েছে যে তোমরা কথা বলছ না?’’
"What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?"
‘তোমাদের কী হইয়াছে যে, তোমরা কথা বল না?’
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?"
কাজেই তিনি তাদের উপরে লাফিয়ে পড়লেন ডানহাতে আঘাত করে।
Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand.
অতঃপর সে উহাদের উপর সবলে আঘাত হানিল।
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.
তখন তারা তাঁর দিকে ছুটে এল হতবুদ্ধি হয়ে।
Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him).
তখন ঐ লোকগুলি তাহার দিকে ছুটিয়া আসিল।
Then the people came toward him, hastening.
তিনি বললেন - - ''তোমরা কি তার উপাসনা কর যা তোমরা কেটে বানাও,
He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved?
সে বলিল, ‘তোমরা নিজেরা যাহাদেরকে খোদাই করিয়া নির্মাণ কর তোমরা কি তাহাদেরই পূজা কর?
He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
''অথচ তোমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন আর তোমরা যা তৈরি কর তাও?’’
"But Allah has created you and your handwork!"
‘প্রকৃতপক্ষে ই সৃষ্টি করিয়াছেন তোমাদেরকে এবং তোমরা যাহা তৈরি কর তাহাও।’
While Allah created you and that which you do?"
তারা বললে - - ''এর জন্য এক কাঠামো তৈরি কর, তারপর তাকে নিক্ষেপ কর সেই ভয়ঙ্কর আগুনে।’’
They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"
উহারা বলিল, ‘ইহার জন্য এক ইমারত নির্মাণ কর, অতঃপর ইহাকে জ্বলন্ত অগ্নিতে নিক্ষেপ কর।’
They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire."
কাজেই তারা তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে এক চক্রান্ত ফাঁদলো, কিন্তু আমরা তাদের হীন বানিয়ে দিলাম।
(This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!
উহারা তাহার বিরুদ্ধে চক্রান্তের সংকল্প করিয়াছিল; কিন্তু আমি উহাদেরকে অতিশয় হেয় করিয়া দিলাম।
And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased.
আর তিনি বললেন - - ''আমি নিশ্চয়ই আমার প্রভুর দিকে যাত্রাকারী, তিনি আমাকে অচিরেই পরিচালিত করবেন।’’
He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!
সে বলিল, ‘আমি আমার প্রতিপালকের দিকে চলিলাম, তিনি আমাকে অবশ্যই সৎপথে পরিচালিত করিবেন;
And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.
''আমার প্রভু! আমার জন্য সৎকর্মীদের থেকে দান করো।’’
"O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!"
‘হে আমার প্রতিপালক! আমাকে এক সৎকর্মপরায়ণ সন্তান দান কর।’
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."
সেজন্য আমরা তাঁকে সুসংবাদ দিলাম এক অমায়িক পুত্রসন্তানের।
So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.
অতঃপর আমি তাহাকে এক স্থিরবুদ্ধি পুত্রের সুসংবাদ দিলাম।
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
তারপর যখন সে তাঁর সঙ্গে কাজ করার যোগ্যতায় উপনীত হল তখন তিনি বললেন - - ''হে আমার পুত্রধন! নিঃসন্দেহ আমি স্বপ্নে দেখলাম যে আমি তোমাকে কুরবানি করছি, অতএব ভেবে দেখো - - কী তুমি দেখছো ।’’ তিনি বললেন - - ''হে আমার আব্বা! আপনি তাই করুন যা আপনাকে আদেশ করা হয়েছে। ইন - শা - আপনি এখনি আমাকে পাবেন অধ্যবসায়ীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"
অতঃপর সে যখন তাহার পিতার সঙ্গে কাজ করিবার মত বয়সে উপনীত হইল তখন ইবরাহীম বলিল, ‘বৎস! আমি স্বপ্নের দেখি যে, তোমাকে আমি যবেহ্ করিতেছি, এখন তোমার অভিমত কি বল?’ সে বলিল, ‘হে আমার পিতা! আপনি যাহা আদিষ্ট হইয়াছেন তাহাই করুন। র ইচ্ছায় আপনি আমাকে ধৈর্যশীল পাইবেন।’
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."
সুতরাং তাঁরা উভয়ে যখন আত্মসমর্পণ করলেন এবং তিনি তাঁকে ভূপাতিত করলেন কপালের জন্য,
So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),
যখন তাহারা উভয়ে আনুগত্য প্রকাশ করিল এবং ইব্রাহীম তাহার পুত্রকে কাত করিয়া শায়িত করিল,
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
তখনই আমরা তাঁকে ডেকে বললাম - - ''হে ইব্রাহীম!
We called out to him "O Abraham!
তখন আমি তাহাকে আহ্বান করিয়া বলিলাম, ‘হে ইব্রাহীম!
We called to him, "O Abraham,
''তুমি তো স্বপ্নাদেশ সত্যই পালন করলে। নিঃসন্দেহ এইভাবেই আমরা সৎকর্মশীলদের পুরস্কার দিয়ে থাকি।
"Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
‘তুমি তো স্বপ্নাদেশ সত্যই পালন করিলে!’ - এইভাবেই আমি সৎকর্মপরায়ণদেরকে পুরস্কৃত করিয়া থাকি।
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
''নিশ্চয়ই এটি - - এইটিই তো ছিল এক স্পষ্ট পরীক্ষা।’’
For this was obviously a trial -
নিশ্চয়ই ইহা ছিল এক স্পষ্ট পরীক্ষা।
Indeed, this was the clear trial.
আর আমরা তাঁকে বদলা দিয়েছিলাম এক মহান কুরবানি।
And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:
আমি তাহাকে মুক্ত করিলাম এক কুরবানীর বিনিময়ে।
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
আর আমরা তাঁর জন্য পরবর্তীদের মধ্যে রেখেছিলাম - -
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
আমি ইহা পরবর্তীদের স্মরণে রাখিয়াছি।
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
ইব্রাহীমের প্রতি ''সালাম’’।
"Peace and salutation to Abraham!"
ইব্রাহীমের উপর শান্তি বর্ষিত হউক!
"Peace upon Abraham."
এইভাবেই আমরা প্রতিদান দিই সৎকর্মশীলদের।
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
এইভাবে আমি সৎকর্মপরায়ণদেরকে পুরস্কৃত করিয়া থাকি।
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
নিঃসন্দেহ তিনি ছিলেন আমাদের বান্দাদের মধ্যেকার।
For he was one of our believing Servants.
নিশ্চয়ই সে ছিল আমার বান্দাদের অন্যতম;
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
আর আমরা তাঁকে সুসংবাদ দিয়েছিলাম ইসহাকের - - একজন নবী সৎপথাবলন্বীদের মধ্যেকার।
And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet, - one of the Righteous.
আমি তাহাকে সুসংবাদ দিয়াছিলাম ইস্হাকের, সে ছিল এক নবী, সৎকর্মপরায়ণদের অন্যতম,
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.
আর আমরা আশীর্বাদ বর্ষণ করেছিলাম তাঁর উপরে ও ইসহাকের উপরে। আর তাঁদের দুজনের বংশধরদের মধ্যে থেকে কেউ হচ্ছেন সৎকর্মশীল, আর কেউ হচ্ছে তাদের নিজেদের প্রতি স্পষ্টভাবে অন্যায়াচারী।
We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.
আমি তাহাকে বরকত দান করিয়াছিলাম এবং ইস্হাককেও; তাহাদের বংশধরদের মধ্যে কতক সৎকর্মপরায়ণ এবং কতক নিজেদের প্রতি স্পষ্ট অত্যাচারী।
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.
আর নিশ্চয় আমরা মূসা ও হারূনের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেই ছিলাম,
Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron,
আমি অনুগ্রহ করিয়াছিলাম মূসা ও হারূনের প্রতি,
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.
আর তাঁদের দুজনকে ও তাঁদের লোকদলকে আমরা ভীষণ সংকট থেকে উদ্ধার করেছিলাম।
And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity;
এবং তাহাদেরকে এবং তাহাদের সম্প্রদায়কে আমি উদ্ধার করিয়াছিলাম মহাসংকট হইতে।
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,
আর আমরা তাঁদের সাহায্য করেছিলাম, সেজন্য তাঁরা খোদ বিজয়ী হয়েছিলেন।
And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);
আমি সাহায্য করিয়াছিলাম তাহাদেরকে ফলে তাহারাই হইয়াছিল বিজয়ী।
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.
আর তাঁদের উভয়কে আমরা দিয়েছিলাম এক স্পষ্ট গ্রন্থ,
And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear;
আমি উভয়কে দিয়াছিলাম বিশদ কিতাব।
And We gave them the explicit Scripture,
আর তাঁদের উভয়কে আমরা পরিচালিত করেছিলাম সরল - সঠিক পথে,
And We guided them to the Straight Way.
এবং তাহাদেরকে আমি পরিচালিত করিয়াছিলাম সরল পথে।
And We guided them on the straight path.
আর তাদের জন্য আমরা পরবর্তীদের মধ্যে রেখেছিলাম - -
And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times:
আমি তাহাদের উভয়কে পরবর্তীদের স্মরণে রাখিয়াছি।
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:
মূসা ও হারূনের প্রতি ''সালাম’’।
"Peace and salutation to Moses and Aaron!"
মূসা ও হারূনের প্রতি শান্তি বর্ষিত হউক!
"Peace upon Moses and Aaron."
এইভাবেই আমরা অবশ্য প্রতিদান দিই সৎকর্মশীলদের।
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
এইভাবে আমি সৎকর্মপরায়ণদেরকে পুরস্কৃত করিয়া থাকি।
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
নিশ্চয় তাঁরা ছিলেন আমাদের বান্দাদের মধ্যেকার।
For they were two of our believing Servants.
তাহারা উভয়েই ছিল আমার বান্দাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.
আর নিশ্চয়ই ইল্য়াস রসূলগণের মধ্যেকার ছিলেন।
So also was Elias among those sent (by Us).
ইল্ইয়াসও ছিল রাসূলদের একজন।
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,
স্মরণ করো, তিনি তাঁর স্বজাতিকে বলেছিলেন - - ''তোমরা কি ধর্মভীরুতা অবলন্বন করবে না?
Behold, he said to his people, "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
স্মরণ কর, সে তাহার সম্প্রদায়কে বলিয়াছিল, ‘তোমরা কি সাবধান হইবে না?
When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah?
''তোমরা কি বা’লকে ডাকবে, আর পরিত্যাগ করবে সৃষ্টিকর্তাদের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠজনকে,
"Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators, -
‘তোমরা কি বা‘আলকে ডাকিবে এবং পরিত্যাগ করিবে শ্রেষ্ঠ স্রষ্টা -
Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators -
কে - - তোমাদের প্রভু এবং পূর্বকালীন তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরও প্রভু?’’
"Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?"
কে, যিনি প্রতিপালক তোমাদের - প্রতিপালক তোমাদের প্রাক্তন পূর্বপুরুষদের ?’
Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"
কিন্তু তারা তাঁর প্রতি মিথ্যারোপ করল, সেজন্য তাদের নিশ্চয়ই হাজির করা হবে,
But they rejected him, and they will certainly be called up (for punishment), -
কিন্তু উহারা তাহাকে মিথ্যাবাদী বলিয়াছিল, কাজেই উহাদেরকে অবশ্যই শাস্তির জন্য উপস্থিত করা হইবে।
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],
শুধু র একনিষ্ঠ বান্দাদের ব্যতীত।
Except the sincere and devoted Servants of Allah (among them).
তবে র একনিষ্ঠ বান্দাদের কথা স্বতন্ত্র।
Except the chosen servants of Allah.
আর তাঁর জন্য আমরা পরবর্তীদের মধ্যে রেখেছিলাম - -
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
আমি ইহা পরবর্তীদের স্মরণে রাখিয়াছি।
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
ইল্য়াসীনের উপরে ''সালাম’’।
"Peace and salutation to such as Elias!"
ইল্ইয়াসীনের উপর শান্তি বর্ষিত হউক।
"Peace upon Elias."
নিঃসন্দেহ এইভাবেই আমরা সৎকর্মশীলদের পুরস্কার দিয়ে থাকি।
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
এইভাবে আমি সৎকর্মপরায়ণদেরকে পুরস্কৃত করিয়া থাকি।
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
তিনি নিশ্চয়ই ছিলেন আমাদের বান্দাদের অন্যতম।
For he was one of our believing Servants.
সে তো ছিল আমার বান্দাদের অন্যতম।
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
আর অবশ্যই লূত ছিলেন রসূলগণের মধ্যেকার।
So also was Lut among those sent (by Us).
লূতও ছিল রাসূলদের একজন।
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.
স্মরণ কর! তাঁকে ও তাঁর পরিজনকে উদ্ধার করেছিলাম, সব ক’জনকেই - -
Behold, We delivered him and his adherents, all
আমি তাহাকে ও তাহার পরিবারের সকলকে উদ্ধার করিয়াছিলাম -
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,
এক বৃদ্ধাকে ব্যতীত, যে ছিল পেছনে রয়ে যাওয়া দলের।
Except an old woman who was among those who lagged behind:
এক বৃদ্ধা ব্যতীত, যে ছিল পশ্চাতে অবস্থানকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers].
তারপর আমরা অবশিষ্টদের সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করেছিলাম।
Then We destroyed the rest.
অতঃপর অবশিষ্টদেরকে আমি সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধ্বংস করিয়াছিলাম।
Then We destroyed the others.
আর নিঃসন্দেহ তোমরা তো তাদের অতিক্রম করে থাক সকালবেলায়,
Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day -
তোমরা তো উহাদের ধ্বংসাবশেষগুলি অতিক্রম করিয়া থাক সকালে ও
And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
এবং রাত্রিকালে। তবুও কি তোমরা বুঝবে না।
And by night: will ye not understand?
সন্ধ্যায়। তবুও কি তোমরা অনুধাবন করিবে না?
And at night. Then will you not use reason?
আর নিশ্চয়ই ইউনুস ছিলেন রসূলগণের অন্যতম।
So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us).
ইউনুসও ছিল রাসূলদের একজন।
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
স্মরণ করো! তিনি বোঝাই করা জাহাজে গিয়ে উঠেছিলেন।
When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden,
স্মরণ কর, যখন সে পলায়ন করিয়া বোঝাই নৌযানে পৌঁছিল,
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.
তাই তিনি লটারী খেলেছিলেন, কিন্তু তিনিই হয়ে গেলেন নিক্ষিপ্তদের একজন।
He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned:
অতঃপর সে লটারীতে যোগদান করিল এবং পরাভূত হইল।
And he drew lots and was among the losers.
তখন একটি মাছ তাঁকে মুখে তুলে নিল, যদিও তিনি দোষী সাব্যস্ত হয়েছিলেন।
Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame.
পরে এক বৃহদাকার মৎস্য তাহাকে গিলিয়া ফেলিল, তখন সে নিজেকে ধিক্কার দিতে লাগিল।
Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.
আর তিনি যদি মহিমা জপতপে রত না থাকতেন - -
Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah,
সে যদি র পবিত্রতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণা না করিত,
And had he not been of those who exalt Allah,
তাহলে তিনি তার পেটে রয়ে যেতেন পুনরুত্থান দিন পর্যন্ত।
He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection.
তাহা হইলে তাহাকে উত্থান দিবস পর্যন্ত থাকিতে হইত উহার উদরে।
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.
তারপর আমরা তাঁকে এক বৃক্ষলতা শূন্য উপকূলে ফেলে দিলাম, আর তিনি ছিলেন অসুস্থ।
But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness,
অতঃপর ইউনুসকে আমি নিক্ষেপ করিলাম এক তৃণহীন প্রান্তরে এবং সে ছিল রুগ্ন।
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.
তখন তাঁর উপরে আমরা জন্মিয়েছিলাম লাউজাতীয় গাছ,
And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind.
পরে আমি তাহার উপর এক লাউ গাছ উদ্গত করিলাম.
And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.
আর আমরা তাঁকে পাঠিয়েছিলাম এক লাখ বা আরো বেশী লোকের কাছে,
And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more.
তাহাকে আমি এক লক্ষ বা ততোধিক লোকের প্রতি প্রেরণ করিয়াছিলাম।
And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.
তখন তারা বিশ্বাস করেছিল, সেজন্য আমরা তাদের উপভোগ করতে দিয়েছিলাম কিছুকালের জন্য।
And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.
এবং তাহারা ঈমান আনিয়াছিল; ফলে আমি তাহাদেরকে কিছুকালের জন্য জীবনোপভোগ করিতে দিলাম।
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.
সুতরাং তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করো - - তোমার প্রভুর জন্য কি কন্যাসন্তান রয়েছে, আর তাদের জন্য পুত্রসন্তান?
Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons? -
এখন উহাদেরকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর, ‘তোমার প্রতিপালকের জন্যই কি রহিয়াছে কন্যা সন্তান এবং উহাদের জন্য পুত্র সন্তান?’
So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?
অথবা, আমরা কি ফিরিশ্তাদের নারীরূপে সৃষ্টি করেছিলাম, আর তারা সাক্ষী ছিল?
Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?
অথবা আমি কি ফিরিশ্তাদেরকে নারীরূপে সৃষ্টি করিয়াছিলাম, আর উহারা প্রত্যক্ষ করিতেছিল?
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"
এটি কি নয় যে তারা আলবৎ তাদের মিথ্যা থেকেই তো কথা বলছে, - -
Is it not that they say, from their own invention,
দেখ উহারা তো মনগড়া কথা বলে যে,
Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,
জন্ম দিয়েছিলেন? আর তারা তো নিশ্চয়ই মিথ্যাবাদী।
"Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars!
‘ সন্তান জন্ম দিয়াছেন!’ উহারা নিশ্চয়ই মিথ্যাবাদী।
" Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.
তিনি কি কন্যাদের পছন্দ করেছেন পুত্রদের পরিবর্তে?
Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?
তিনি কি পুত্র সন্তানের পরিবর্তে কন্যা সন্তান পসন্দ করিতেন?
Has He chosen daughters over sons?
তোমাদের কি হয়েছে? কিভাবে তোমরা বিচার করো?
What is the matter with you? How judge ye?
তোমাদের কী হইয়াছে, তোমরা কিরূপ বিচার কর?
What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?
তোমরা কি তবে মনোযোগ দেবে না?
Will ye not then receive admonition?
তবে কি তোমরা উপদেশ গ্রহণ করিবে না?
Then will you not be reminded?
নাকি তোমাদের কাছে কোনো স্পষ্ট দলিল - প্রমাণ রয়েছে?
Or have ye an authority manifest?
তোমাদের কী সুস্পষ্ট দলীল - প্রমাণ আছে?
Or do you have a clear authority?
তেমন হলে তোমাদের গ্রন্থ নিয়ে এস, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হও।
Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!
তোমরা সত্যবাদী হইলে তোমাদের কিতাব উপস্থিত কর।
Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.
আর তারা তাঁর মধ্যে ও জিনদের মধ্যে একটা সম্পর্ক দাঁড় করিয়েছে। আর জিনরা তো জেনেই ফেলেছে যে তাদের অবশ্যই উপস্থাপিত করা হবে।
And they have invented a blood - relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment - Seat)!
উহারা ও জিন জাতির মধ্যে আত্মীয়তার সম্পর্ক স্থির করিয়াছে, অথচ জিনেরা জানে তাহাদেরকেও নিশ্চয়ই উপস্থিত করা হইবে শাস্তির জন্য।
And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment].
রই সব মহিমা! তারা যা আরোপ করে তা থেকে বহু ঊর্ধ্বে, - -
Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!
উহারা যাহা বলে তাহা হইতে পবিত্র, মহান -
Exalted is Allah above what they describe,
র নিষ্ঠাবান বান্দারা ব্যতীত।
Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted.
র একনিষ্ঠ বান্দাগণ ব্যতিত,
Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin].
অতএব নিশ্চয়ই তোমরা ও যাদের তোমরা উপাসনা কর তারা - -
For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship -
তোমরা এবং তোমরা যাহাদের ‘ইবাদত কর উহারা -
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,
তোমরা তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে বিভ্রান্তকারী হতে পারবে না, - -
Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah,
তোমরা কাহাকেও সম্বন্ধে বিভ্রান্ত করিতে পারিবে না -
You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him
তাকে ব্যতীত যে জ্বলন্ত আগুনে পুড়তে চায়।
Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!
কেবল অগ্নিতে প্রবেশকারীকে ব্যতীত।
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.
আর ''আমাদের মধ্যে এমন কেউ নেই যার জন্যে নির্ধারিত আবাস নেই,
(Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed;
আমাদের প্রত্যেকের জন্যই নির্ধারিত স্থান রহিয়াছে,
[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.
''আর নিশ্চয়ই আমরা, আমরাই তো সারিবদ্ধভাবে দাঁড়াব,
"And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service);
আমরা তো সারিবদ্ধভাবে দণ্ডায়মান
And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].
''আর অবশ্য আমরা, আলবৎ আমরা জপ করতে থাকব।’’
"And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!"
‘এবং আমরা অবশ্যই তাঁহার পবিত্রতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণাকারী।’
And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah."
আর নিশ্চয়ই তারা বলতে থাকতো - -
And there were those who said,
উহারাই তো বলিয়া আসিয়াছে,
And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,
''যদি আমাদের কাছে পূর্ববর্তীদের কাছ থেকে কোনো স্মরণীয় গ্রন্থ থাকতো,
"If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,
‘পূর্ববর্তীদের কিতাবের মত যদি আমাদের কোন কিতাব থাকিত,
"If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,
''তাহলে আমরা র নিষ্ঠাবান বান্দা হতে পারতাম।’’
"We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
‘আমরা অবশ্যই র একনিষ্ঠ বান্দা হইতাম।’
We would have been the chosen servants of Allah."
কিন্তু তারা এতে অবিশ্বাস পোষণ করে, কাজেই শীঘ্রই তারা জানতে পারবে।
But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!
কিন্তু উহারা কুরআন প্রত্যাখ্যান করিল এবং শীঘ্রই উহারা জানিতে পারিবে;
But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.
আর অবশ্যই আমাদের বক্তব্য আমাদের বান্দাদের - - প্রেরিত পুরুষদের, জন্য সাব্যস্ত হয়েই গেছে, - -
Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us),
আমার প্রেরিত বান্দাদের সম্পর্কে আমার এই বাক্য পূর্বেই স্থির হইয়াছে যে,
And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
নিঃসন্দেহ তাঁরা - - তাঁরাই তো হবে সাহায্যপ্রাপ্ত,
That they would certainly be assisted,
অবশ্যই তাহারা সাহায্যপ্রাপ্ত হইবে,
[That] indeed, they would be those given victory
আর নিঃসন্দেহ আমাদের সেনাদল - - তারাই তো হবে বিজয়ী।
And that Our forces, - they surely must conquer.
এবং আমার বাহিনীই হইবে বিজয়ী।
And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome.
অতএব তাদের থেকে ফিরে থেকো কিছুকালের জন্য,
So turn thou away from them for a little while,
অতএব কিছু কালের জন্য তুমি উহাদেরকে উপেক্ষা কর।
So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time.
আর তাদের প্রতি লক্ষ্য রাখো, কেননা তারাও শীঘ্রই দেখতে পাবে।
And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!
তুমি উহাদেরকে পর্যবেক্ষণ কর, শীঘ্রই উহারা প্রত্যক্ষ করিবে।
And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.
তারা কি তবে আমাদের শাস্তি ত্বরান্বিত করতে চায়?
Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment?
উহারা কি তবে আমার শাস্তি ত্বরান্বিত করিতে চায়?
Then for Our punishment are they impatient?
কিন্তু যখন তা তাদের আঙিনায় অবতরণ করবে তখন সতর্কীকৃতদের প্রভাত হবে কত মন্দ!
But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)!
তাহাদের আঙিনায় যখন শাস্তি নামিয়া আসিবে তখন সতর্কীকৃতদের প্রভাত হইবে কত মন্দ!
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.
আর তুমি তাদের থেকে ফিরে থেকো কিছুকালের জন্য,
So turn thou away from them for a little while,
অতএব কিছু কালের জন্য তুমি উহাদেরকে উপেক্ষা কর।
And leave them for a time.
আর লক্ষ্য রাখো, কেননা তারাও শীঘ্রই দেখতে পাবে।
And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!
তুমি উহাদেরকে পর্যবেক্ষণ কর, শীঘ্রই উহারা প্রত্যক্ষ করিবে।
And see, for they are going to see.
মহিমা কীর্তিত হোক তোমার প্রভুর - - পরম মর্যাদা সম্পন্ন প্রভুর, তারা যা - কিছু আরোপ করে তা থেকে বহু ঊর্ধ্বে।
Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!
উহারা যাহা আরোপ করে তাহা হইতে পবিত্র ও মহান তোমার প্রতিপালক, যিনি সকল ক্ষমতার অধিকারী।
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
আর 'সালাম’ প্রেরিতপুরুষদের উপরে।
And Peace on the messengers!
শান্তি বর্ষিত হউক রাসূলদের প্রতি!
And peace upon the messengers.
আর সকল প্রশংসা রই জন্য - - বিশ্বজগতের প্রভু!
And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds.
আর সকল প্রশংসা জগতসমূহের প্রতিপালক রই প্রাপ্য।
And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
