আল্লাহর নামে শুরু করছি, পরম করুণাময় পরম দয়ালু; যখন আকাশ বিদীর্ণ হবে,

When the sky breaks apart
জহুরুল হক
যখন আকাশ বিদীর্ণ হবে,

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. When the heaven is cleft asunder,

এবং যখন নক্ষত্রগুলো ছিটকে পড়বে,

And when the stars fall, scattering,

আর যখন নক্ষত্রসব বিক্ষিপ্ত হবে,

When the planets are dispersed,
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং যখন সমুদ্রসমূহ উত্তাল করে দেওয়া হবে,

And when the seas are erupted
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন সমুদ্রগুলো উচ্ছলিত হবে,

When the seas are poured forth,

এবং যখন কবরসমূহ উন্মোচিত করা হবে,

And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
জহুরুল হক
আর যখন কবরগুলো উন্মোচিত হবে, - -

And the sepulchres are overturned,
সমকালীন বাংলা
তখন প্রত্যেক প্রাণ জানতে পারবে, সে কী আগে পাঠিয়েছে এবং কী পিছনে রেখে এসেছে,
Saheeh International
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
জহুরুল হক
তখন প্রত্যেকেই জানতে পারবে সে কী আগ - বাড়িয়েছে, আর কী সে পেছনে ফেলে রেখেছে।
Pickthall
A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
সমকালীন বাংলা
হে মানুষ! কী তোমাকে তোমার মহানুভব প্রতিপালক সম্পর্কে বিভ্রান্ত করেছে?
Saheeh International
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
জহুরুল হক
ওহে মানব! কিসে তোমাকে ভুলিয়েছে তোমার মহানুভব প্রভুসন্বন্ধে - -

O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
সমকালীন বাংলা
যিনি তোমাকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, অতঃপর সুবিন্যস্ত করেছেন এবং সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ করেছেন,
Saheeh International
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
জহুরুল হক
যিনি তোমাকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, তারপর তোমাকে সুঠাম করেছেন, তারপর তোমাকে সুসমঞ্জস করেছেন, - -

Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee ?
সমকালীন বাংলা
তিনি তোমাকে যে আকৃতিতে ইচ্ছা, তাতেই গঠন করেছেন,
Saheeh International
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
জহুরুল হক
যে আকৃতিতে তিনি চেয়েছেন সেইভাবে তিনি তোমাকে গঠন করেছেন?
Pickthall
Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
সমকালীন বাংলা
কখনোই নয়! বরং তোমরা প্রতিদান দিবসকে মিথ্যা বলো,
Saheeh International
No! But you deny the Recompense.
জহুরুল হক
না, তোমরা বরং সদ্বিচারকেই মিথ্যারোপ করছ।

Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
সমকালীন বাংলা
আর নিশ্চয়ই তোমাদের ওপর তত্ত্বাবধায়ক রয়েছে,

And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
জহুরুল হক
অথচ তোমাদের উপরে নিশ্চয়ই তত্ত্বাবধায়ক রয়েছে, - -

Lo! there are above you guardians,
সমকালীন বাংলা
সম্মানিত লিপিকারগণ,
Saheeh International
Noble and recording;
জহুরুল হক
সম্মানিত লিপিকারগণ,
Pickthall
Generous and recording,
সমকালীন বাংলা
তারা জানে তোমরা যা করো,
Saheeh International
They know whatever you do.
জহুরুল হক
তারা জানে তোমরা যা - কিছু কর।
Pickthall
Who know (all) that ye do.
সমকালীন বাংলা
নিশ্চয়ই সৎকর্মপরায়ণরা থাকবে পরম সুখে,
Saheeh International
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
জহুরুল হক
ধার্মিকরা নিশ্চয় থাকবে আনন্দেরই মাঝে,
Pickthall
Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
সমকালীন বাংলা
আর নিশ্চয়ই পাপাচারীরা থাকবে জাহিমে,
Saheeh International
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
জহুরুল হক
আর পাপাচারীরা আলবৎ থাকবে ভয়ংকর আগুনে, - -
Pickthall
And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
সমকালীন বাংলা
তারা তাতে প্রবেশ করবে প্রতিদান দিবসে,
Saheeh International
They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
জহুরুল হক
তারা এতে প্রবেশ করবে বিচারের দিনে
Pickthall
They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং তারা তা থেকে অনুপস্থিত থাকবে না,
Saheeh International
And never therefrom will they be absent.
জহুরুল হক
আর তারা এর থেকে গরহাজির থাকতে পারবে না।

And will not be absent thence.
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং কী তোমাকে জানাবে প্রতিদান দিবস কী?
Saheeh International
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
জহুরুল হক
আর কিসে তোমাকে বুঝতে দেবে কী সেই বিচারের দিন?

Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
সমকালীন বাংলা
অতঃপর কী তোমাকে জানাবে প্রতিদান দিবস কী?
Saheeh International
Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

পুনরায় কিসে তোমাকে বোঝানো যাবে বিচারের দিন কি?

Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
সমকালীন বাংলা
সেদিন কোনো প্রাণ অন্য কোনো প্রাণের জন্য কিছুই করতে সক্ষম হবে না; এবং সেদিন সকল কর্তৃত্ব আল্লাহর।
Saheeh International
It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.
জহুরুল হক
এ সেইদিন যেদিন কোনো সত্ত্বা কোনো আত্মার জন্যে কোনো - কিছু করার সামর্থ্য রাখবে না। আর কর্তৃত্ব সেইদিন হবে রই।

A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.
