বিধর্মীরা নবী সাঃ এর কাছে একবার প্রতিপালকের পরিচয় সম্পর্কে জানতে চাইলে সর্বমহান আল্লাহ এই সূরাটি অবতীর্ণ করেন।

আল্লাহর নামে শুরু করছি, পরম করুণাময়, পরম দয়ালু; বলো, - এক
Yusuf Ali
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
আবদুস শহীদ নাসিম
(হে নবী!) বলে দাও : তিনি , তিনি এক ও একক।
Saheeh International
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,
সমকালীন বাংলা
স্বয়ংসম্পূর্ণ
Yusuf Ali
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
আবদুস শহীদ নাসিম
তিনি স্বয়ং সম্পূর্ণ মুখাপেক্ষাহীন।
Saheeh International
Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
সমকালীন বাংলা
জন্ম দেনও নি, জন্ম নেনও নি।

He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
আবদুস শহীদ নাসিম
তিনি জন্ম দেন না এবং তাঁকেও জন্ম দেয়া হয়নি।
Saheeh International
He neither begets nor is born,
সমকালীন বাংলা
এবং কেহই তাঁর সমতুল্য নয়।
Yusuf Ali
And there is none like unto Him.
আবদুস শহীদ নাসিম
কেউ নেই তাঁর সমকক্ষ সমতুল্য।
Saheeh International
Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
