Saheeh International

1 When the sky breaks apart

1 In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. When the heaven is cleft asunder,

Transliteration

1 Itha alssamao infatarat

Saheeh International

2 And when the stars fall, scattering,

Pickthall

2 When the planets are dispersed,

Transliteration

2 Waitha alkawakibu intatharat

Saheeh International

3 And when the seas are erupted

Pickthall

3 When the seas are poured forth,

Transliteration

3 Waitha albiharu fujjirat

Saheeh International

4 And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,

Pickthall

4 And the sepulchres are overturned,

Transliteration

4 Waitha alqubooru buAAthirat

Saheeh International

5 A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.

Pickthall

5 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.

Transliteration

5 AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamat waakhkharat

Saheeh International

6 O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,

Pickthall

6 O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,

Transliteration

6 Ya ayyuha alinsanu ma gharraka birabbika alkareemi

Saheeh International

7 Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?

Pickthall

7 Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee ?

Transliteration

7 Allathee khalaqaka fasawwaka faAAadalaka

Saheeh International

8 In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.

Pickthall

8 Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.

Transliteration

8 Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaa rakkabaka

Saheeh International

9 No! But you deny the Recompense.

Pickthall

9 Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.

Transliteration

9 Kalla bal tukaththiboona bialddeeni

Saheeh International

10 And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,

Pickthall

10 Lo! there are above you guardians,

Transliteration

10 Wainna AAalaykum lahafitheena

Saheeh International

11 Noble and recording;

Pickthall

11 Generous and recording,

Transliteration

11 Kiraman katibeena

Saheeh International

12 They know whatever you do.

Pickthall

12 Who know (all) that ye do.

Transliteration

12 YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloona

Saheeh International

13 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,

Pickthall

13 Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.

Transliteration

13 Inna alabrara lafee naAAeemin

Saheeh International

14 And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.

Pickthall

14 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;

Transliteration

14 Wainna alfujjara lafee jaheemin

Saheeh International

15 They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,

Pickthall

15 They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,

Transliteration

15 Yaslawnaha yawma alddeeni

Saheeh International

16 And never therefrom will they be absent.

Pickthall

16 And will not be absent thence.

Transliteration

16 Wama hum AAanha bighaibeena

Saheeh International

17 And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

Pickthall

17 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!

Transliteration

17 Wama adraka ma yawmu alddeeni

Saheeh International

18 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

Pickthall

18 Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!

Transliteration

18 Thumma ma adraka ma yawmu alddeeni

Saheeh International

19 It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.

Pickthall

19 A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.

Transliteration

19 Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsin shayan waalamru yawmaithin lillahi
