The Prophet frowned and turned away
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
Chapter 80, 42 verses
The Prophet frowned and turned away
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].
Because there came to him the blind man.
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
And what would make you know that he would purify himself,
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?
Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?
As for he who thinks himself without need,
As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),
To him you give attention.
To him do you address yourself.
so widmest du dich ihm,
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
And as to him who comes to you striving hard,
While he fears [Allah],
And he fears,
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
From him you are distracted.
From him will you divert yourself.
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;
Nay! surely it is an admonishment.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
So whoever wills may remember it.
So let him who pleases mind it.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
In honored books,
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
Exalted and purified,
Exalted, purified,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
[Carried] by the hands of messenger - angels,
In the hands of scribes
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
Noble and dutiful.
Noble, virtuous.
edlen, frommen.
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.
Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
From what substance did He create him?
Of what thing did He create him?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From a sperm - drop He created him and destined for him;
Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,
Then He eased the way for him;
Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.
Keineswegs!
Then let mankind look at his food -
Then let man look to his food,
How We poured down water in torrents,
That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,
And caused to grow within it grain
Then We cause to grow therein the grain,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And grapes and herbage
And grapes and clover,
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And olive and palm trees
And the olive and the palm,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And gardens of dense shrubbery
And thick gardens,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And fruit and grass -
And fruits and herbage
und Früchte und Futter,
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.
A provision for you and for your cattle.
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
But when the deafening cry comes,
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,
And his mother and his father
And his mother and his father,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And his wife and his children,
And his spouse and his son - -
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.
Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -
(Many) faces on that day shall be bright,
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.
Laughing, joyous.
lachen und sich freuen.
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,
Blackness will cover them.
Darkness shall cover them.
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
