Saheeh International

1 Qaf. By the honored Qur'an...

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

1 In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Qaf. [These letters (Qaf, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Glorious Qur'an.

Yusuf Ali

1 Qaf: By the Glorious Qur'an (Thou art Allah's Messenger).

Saheeh International

2 But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, "This is an amazing thing.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

2 Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: "This is a strange thing!

Yusuf Ali

2 But they wonder that there has come to them a Warner from among themselves. So the Unbelievers say: "This is a wonderful thing!

Saheeh International

3 When we have died and have become dust, [we will return to life]? That is a distant return."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

3 "When we are dead and have become dust (shall we be resurrected?) That is a far return."

Yusuf Ali

3 "What! When we die and become dust, (shall we live again?) That is a (sort of) return far (from our understanding)."

Saheeh International

4 We know what the earth diminishes of them, and with Us is a retaining record.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

4 We know that which the earth takes of them (their dead bodies), and with Us is a Book preserved (i.e. the Book of Decrees).

Yusuf Ali

4 We already know how much of them the earth takes away: With Us is a record guarding (the full account).

Saheeh International

5 But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

5 Nay, but they have denied the truth (this Qur'an) when it has come to them, so they are in a confused state (cannot differentiate between right and wrong).

Yusuf Ali

5 But they deny the Truth when it comes to them: so they are in a confused state.

6 Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and [how] it has no rifts?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

6 Have they not looked at the heaven above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no rifts in it?

Yusuf Ali

6 Do they not look at the sky above them? - How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it?

7 And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

7 And the earth! We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely growth (plants).

Yusuf Ali

7 And the earth - We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs) -

Saheeh International

8 Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

8 An insight and a Reminder for every slave who turns to Allah in repentance (i.e. the one who believes in the Oneness of Allah and performs deeds of His obedience, and always begs His pardon).

Yusuf Ali

8 To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning (to Allah).

Saheeh International

9 And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

9 And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped.

Yusuf Ali

9 And We send down from the sky rain charted with blessing, and We produce therewith gardens and Grain for harvests;

Saheeh International

10 And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers -

10 And tall date-palms, with ranged clusters.

Yusuf Ali

10 And tall (and stately) palm - trees, with shoots of fruit - stalks, piled one over another; -

Saheeh International

11 As provision for the servants, and We have given life thereby to a dead land. Thus is the resurrection.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

11 A provision for (Allah's) slaves. And We give life therewith to a dead land. Thus will be the resurrection (of the dead).

Yusuf Ali

11 As sustenance for (Allah's) Servants; - and We give (new) life therewith to land that is dead: Thus will be the Resurrection.

Saheeh International

12 The people of Noah denied before them, and the companions of the well and Thamud

12 Denied before them (i.e. these pagans of Makkah) the people of Nuh (Noah), and the dwellers of Rass, and Thamud;

12 Before them was denied (the Hereafter) by the People of Noah, the Companions of the Rass, the Thamud,

13 And 'Aad and Pharaoh and the brothers of Lot

13 And 'Ad, and Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the brethren of Lut (Lot);

Yusuf Ali

13 The 'Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut,

Saheeh International

14 And the companions of the thicket and the people of Tubba'. All denied the messengers, so My threat was justly fulfilled.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

14 And the Dwellers of the Wood, and the people of Tubba'. Everyone of them denied (their) Messengers, so My Threat took effect.

Yusuf Ali

14 The Companions of the Wood, and the People of Tubba'; each one (of them) rejected the messengers, and My warning was duly fulfilled (in them).

Saheeh International

15 Did We fail in the first creation? But they are in confusion over a new creation.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

15 Were We then tired with the first creation? Nay, they are in confused doubt about a new creation (i.e. Resurrection).

Yusuf Ali

15 Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation?

Saheeh International

16 And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

16 And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge).

Yusuf Ali

16 It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.

Saheeh International

17 When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

17 (Remember) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions).

Yusuf Ali

17 Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left.

Saheeh International

18 Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

18 Not a word does he (or she) utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).

Yusuf Ali

18 Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it).

Saheeh International

19 And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

19 And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!"

Yusuf Ali

19 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!"

Saheeh International

20 And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

20 And the Trumpet will be blown - that will be the Day whereof warning (had been given) (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

Yusuf Ali

20 And the Trumpet shall be blown: that will be the Day whereof Warning (had been given).

Saheeh International

21 And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

21 And every person will come forth along with an (angel) to drive (him) and an (angel) to bear witness.

Yusuf Ali

21 And there will come forth every soul: with each will be an (angel) to drive, and an (angel) to bear witness.

Saheeh International

22 [It will be said], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

22 (It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this. Now We have removed from you your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!"

Yusuf Ali

22 (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!"

Saheeh International

23 And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

23 And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (this Record) ready with me!"

Yusuf Ali

23 And his Companion will say: "Here is (his Record) ready with me!"

Saheeh International

24 [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

24 (Allah will say to the angels): "Both of you throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever (in the Oneness of Allah, in His Messengers).

Yusuf Ali

24 (The sentence will be:) "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter (of Allah)! -

Saheeh International

25 Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter,

25 "Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter,

Yusuf Ali

25 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions;

Saheeh International

26 Who made [as equal] with Allah another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

26 "Who set up another ilah (god) with Allah. Then both of you cast him in the severe torment."

Yusuf Ali

26 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty."

Saheeh International

27 His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

27 His companion (Satan - devil)] will say: "Our Lord! I did not push him to transgression, (in disbelief, oppression, and evil deeds) but he was himself in error far astray."

Yusuf Ali

27 His Companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was (himself) far astray."

Saheeh International

28 [Allah] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the warning.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

28 Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already in advance sent you the threat.

Yusuf Ali

28 He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning.

Saheeh International

29 The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

29 The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust to the slaves."

Yusuf Ali

29 "The Word changes not before Me, and I do not the least injustice to My Servants."

Saheeh International

30 On the Day We will say to Hell, "Have you been filled?" and it will say, "Are there some more,"

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

30 On the Day when We will say to Hell: "Are you filled?" It will say: "Are there any more (to come)?"

Yusuf Ali

30 One Day We will ask Hell, "Art thou filled to the full?" It will say, "Are there any more (to come)?"

Saheeh International

31 And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

31 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (the pious. See V.2:2), not far off.

Yusuf Ali

31 And the Garden will be brought nigh to the Righteous, - no more a thing distant.

Saheeh International

32 [It will be said], "This is what you were promised - for every returner [to Allah] and keeper [of His covenant]

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

32 (It will be said): "This is what you were promised - (it is) for those oft-returning (to Allah) in sincere repentance, and those who preserve their covenant with Allah (by obeying Him in all what He has ordered, and worshipping none but Allah Alone, i.e. follow Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism).

Yusuf Ali

32 (A voice will say:) "This is what was promised for you, - for every one who turned (to Allah) in sincere repentance, who kept (His Law),

33 Who feared the Most Merciful unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance].

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

33 "Who feared the Most Gracious (Allah) in the Ghaib (Unseen) and brought a heart turned in repentance (to Him and absolutely free from each and every kind of polytheism).

Yusuf Ali

33 "Who feared (Allah) Most Gracious Unseen, and brought a heart turned in devotion (to Him):

Saheeh International

34 Enter it in peace. This is the Day of Eternity."

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

34 "Enter you therein in peace and security - this is a Day of eternal life!"

Yusuf Ali

34 "Enter ye therein in Peace and Security; this is a Day of Eternal Life!"

Saheeh International

35 They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

35 There they will have all that they desire - and We have more (for them, i.e. a glance at the All-Mighty, All-Majestic جل جلاله).

Yusuf Ali

35 There will be for them therein all that they wish, - and more besides in Our Presence.

Saheeh International

36 And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in [striking] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape?

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

36 And how many a generation We have destroyed before them who were stronger in power than they. And (when Our Torment came), they ran for a refuge in the land! Could they find any place of refuge (for them to save themselves from destruction)?

Yusuf Ali

36 But how many generations before them did We destroy (for their sins), - stronger in power than they? Then did they wander through the land: was there any place of escape (for them)?

Saheeh International

37 Indeed in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present [in mind].

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

37 Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful.

Yusuf Ali

37 Verily in this is a Message for any that has a heart and understanding or who gives ear and earnestly witnesses (the truth).

Saheeh International

38 And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

38 And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us.

Yusuf Ali

38 We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.

Saheeh International

39 So be patient, [O Muhammad], over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

39 So bear with patience (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers) .

Yusuf Ali

39 Bear, then, with patience, all that they say, and celebrate the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting.

Saheeh International

40 And [in part] of the night exalt Him and after prostration.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

40 And during a part of the night (also) glorify His praises (i.e. Maghrib and 'Isha prayers) and (so likewise) after the prayers [As-Sunnah, Nawafil - optional and additional prayers. And also glorify, praise and magnify Allah - Subhan Allah, Alhamdu lillah, Allahu-Akbar].

40 And during part of the night, (also,) celebrate His praises, and (so likewise) after the postures of adoration.

Saheeh International

41 And listen on the Day when the Caller will call out from a place that is near -

41 And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place.

Yusuf Ali

41 And listen for the Day when the Caller will call out from a place quiet near, -

Saheeh International

42 The Day they will hear the blast [of the Horn] in truth. That is the Day of Emergence [from the graves].

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

42 The Day when they will hear As-Saihah (shout) in truth: that will be the Day of coming out (from the graves, i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

Yusuf Ali

42 The Day when they will hear a (mighty) Blast in (very) truth: that will be the Day of Resurrection.

Saheeh International

43 Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the destination

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

43 Verily, We it is Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return.

Yusuf Ali

43 Verily it is We Who give Life and Death; and to Us is the Final Goal -

Saheeh International

44 On the Day the earth breaks away from them [and they emerge] rapidly; that is a gathering easy for Us.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

44 On the Day when the earth shall be cleft, from off them, (they will come out) hastening forth. That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us.

Yusuf Ali

44 The Day when the Earth will be rent asunder, from (men) hurrying out: that will be a gathering together, - quite easy for Us.

Saheeh International

45 We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur'an whoever fears My threat.

Hilali & Muhsin Khan

45 We know best what they say. And you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are not the one to force them (to Belief). But warn by the Qur'an; him who fears My Threat.

45 We know best what they say; and thou art not one to overawe them by force. So admonish with the Qur'an such as fear My Warning!
