Chapter 52, 49 verses
By the mount
শপথ তুর (পাহাড়) - এর।
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By the Tur (Mount)
وَٱلطُّورِ
And [by] a Book inscribed
শপথ সেই কিতাবের যা ছত্রে ছত্রে লিখিত
And by a Book Inscribed
وَكِتَٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ
In parchment spread open
খোলা পৃষ্ঠায়।
In parchment unrolled.
فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
And [by] the frequented House
শপথ বাইতুল মামুরের।
And by Al-Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parallel to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels).
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ
And [by] the heaven raised high
শপথ উঁচু ছাদের (আকাশের),
And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven).
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ
And [by] the sea filled [with fire],
শপথ উত্তাল সাগরের।
And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection).
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
নিশ্চয়ই তোমার প্রভুর আযাব সংঘটিত হবেই।
Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass.
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
Of it there is no preventer.
তা প্রতিরোধ করার কেউ নেই।
There is none that can avert it.
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
যেদিন আসমান চলতে থাকবে প্রচন্ড গতিতে,
On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking,
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا
And the mountains will pass on, departing -
(ভয়ংকর) তীব্র গতিতে চলতে থাকবে পাহাড় পর্বত,
And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
সেদিন হবে চরম দুর্ভোগ প্রত্যাখ্যানকারীদের,
Then woe that Day to the beliers.
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
যারা খেল তামাশার অসার কাজে লিপ্ত।
Who are playing in falsehood .
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
সেদিন তাদের ধাক্কা মারতে মারতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে জাহান্নামের আগুনের দিকে।
The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing.
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
"This is the Fire which you used to deny.
(বলা হবে:) এই সেই জাহান্নাম, যাকে তোমরা মিথ্যা বলে প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিলে।
This is the Fire which you used to belie.
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
Then is this magic, or do you not see?
এটা কি ম্যাজিক, নাকি তোমরা দেখছো না?
Is this magic, or do you not see?
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."
এতে প্রবেশ করো, এর আযাব তোমরা সহ্য করতে পারো বা না পারো দুটোই সমান। তোমাদেরকে তো তোমাদেরই কৃতকর্মের প্রতিফল দেয়া হয়েছে।
Taste you therein its heat and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do.
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,
নিশ্চয়ই মুত্তাকিদের জন্যে রয়েছে জান্নাত আর নিয়ামতরাজি।
Verily, the Muttaqun (the pious. See V.2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.
তাদের প্রভু তাদের যেসব পুরস্কার দেবেন তারা সেসব ভোগ করতে থাকবে এবং তাদের প্রভু তাদের রক্ষা করবেন জাহিমের (জাহান্নামের) আযাব থেকে।
Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire.
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."
(তাদের বলা হবে:) ‘তোমরা খাও এবং পান করো তৃপ্তি সহকারে তোমাদের নেক আমলের ফল।
"Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do."
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
তারা সেখানে আসন গ্রহণ করবে হেলান দিয়ে সারিবদ্ধভাবে। আমরা তাদের জুড়ি হিসেবে দেবো আয়াতলোচনা হুরদের।
They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Hur: (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes.
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.
আর যারা নিজেরা ঈমান এনেছে এবং তাদের সন্তানরাও ঈমানের পথে তাদের অনুগামী হয়েছে, আমরা তাদের সন্তানদেরকে তাদের সাথে একত্র করে দেবো এবং তাদের আমলের প্রতিদান কিছুমাত্র হ্রাস করবো না। প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিই নিজ নিজ কৃতকর্মের জন্যে দায়ী।
And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith: to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ
And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.
আমরা তাদের সহযোগিতা করবো ফলফলারি এবং গোশত দিয়ে, যা - ই তারা পছন্দ করবে।
And We shall provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire.
وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.
তারা সেখানে পরস্পরের মধ্যে আদান প্রদান করতে থাকবে পানপাত্র, যা থেকে পান করলে কেউ অর্থহীন কথাবার্তাও বলবে না এবং কোনো প্রকার পাপ কাজেও লিপ্ত হবেনা।
There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be lawful for them to drink).
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ
There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well - protected.
তাদের সেবায় ঘোরাঘুরি করতে থাকবে কিশোরেরা যারা নিয়োজিত থাকবে কেবল তাদেরই সেবায় এবং তারা দেখতে যেনো সুরক্ষিত মুক্তা।
And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls.
وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
তারা একে অপরের মুখোমুখি হয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করবে,
And some of them draw near to others, questioning.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah].
বলবে: ‘‘ইতোপূর্বে (পৃথিবীর জীবনে) আমরা তো পরিবার পরিজনের মধ্যে আল্লাহর ভয়ে ভীত ছিলাম।
Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid (of the punishment of Allah) in the midst of our families.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ
So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.
ফলে আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছেন এবং আমাদের রক্ষা করেছেন অগ্নি বায়ুর আযাব থেকে।
"So Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire.
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."
আমরা ইতোপূর্বে (পৃথিবীর জীবনে) তাঁকেই ডাকতাম, নিশ্চয়ই তিনি পরম অনুগ্রহশীল, পরম দয়াবান।’’
"Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful."
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
অতএব, তুমি উপদেশ দিয়ে যাও, তোমার প্রভুর অনুগ্রহে তুমি গণকও নও, পাগলও নও।
Therefore, remind (mankind of Islamic Monotheism, O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). By the Grace of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ
Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?"
নাকি তারা বলে: ‘সে একজন কবি? আমরা তার জন্যে সময়ের আবর্তনের অপেক্ষা করছি।’
Or do they say: "(Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is a poet! We await for him some calamity by time!"
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ
Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."
তুমি বলো: ‘তোমরা প্রতীক্ষা করো, আমিও তোমাদের সাথে প্রতীক্ষায় থাকলাম।’
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to them): "Wait! I am with you among the waiters!"
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?
নাকি তাদের বুদ্ধি তাদেরকে এর জন্যে প্রলুব্ধ করে? আর নাকি তারা সীমালংঘনকারী সম্প্রদায়?
Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)] or are they people transgressing all bounds?
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe.
নাকি তারা বলে: ‘এ কুরআন সে নিজে রচনা করে নিয়েছে?’ আসল কথা হলো, তারা বিশ্বাসই রাখেনা।
Or do they say: "He (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has forged it (this Qur'an)?" Nay! They believe not!
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.
তারা সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাকলে এ কুরআনের মতো কোনো বাণী উপস্থিত করুক।
Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Qur'an) if they are truthful.
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ
Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?
নাকি তারা স্রষ্টা ছাড়াই সৃষ্টি হয়েছে? আর নাকি তারা নিজেরাই স্রষ্টা?
Were they created by nothing? Or were they themselves the creators?
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.
নাকি মহাকাশ এবং পৃথিবী তারা নিজেরাই সৃষ্টি করেছে? বরং তারা একীনই রাখেনা।
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief.
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?
নাকি তোমার প্রভুর ভান্ডার তাদের কাছে রয়েছে? আর নাকি তারা এসব কিছুর পাহারাদার?
Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like?
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ
Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority.
নাকি তাদের কাছে (আকাশে) আরোহণ করার সিঁড়ি আছে যা দিয়ে উঠে কথা শুনে? থাকলে তাদের সেই শ্রোতা সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ হাজির করুক।
Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof.
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
Or has He daughters while you have sons?
নাকি কন্যা সন্তান আল্লাহর, আর সব পুত্র সন্তান তোমাদের ?
Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons?
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?
নাকি তুমি তাদের কাছে (তাদের উপদেশ দেয়ার জন্যে) পারিশ্রমিক চাইছো, আর তারা সেটাকে তাদের জন্যে বোঝা মনে করছে?
Or is it that you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt?
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?
নাকি তারা জানে এবং তা তারা লিখে রাখছে?
Or that the Ghaib (Unseen) is with them, and they write it down?
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.
নাকি তারা কোনো চক্রান্ত করছে? জেনে রেখো, চক্রান্তের শিকার হয় কাফিররা নিজেরাই।
Or do they intend a plot (against you O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)? But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) are themselves plotted against!
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ
Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
নাকি আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে তাদের কোনো ইলাহ্ আছে? তাদের কৃত শিরক থেকে পবিত্র ও মহান।
Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him)
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."
তারা আকাশ থেকে কোনো টুকরা ভেঙ্গে পড়তে দেখলে বলবে: ‘এতো মেঘপুঞ্জ।’
And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ
So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -
সুতরাং তাদের উপেক্ষা করো - যতোদিন না তারা সেই দিনটির সাক্ষাত লাভ করে যেদিন বজ্রের আঘাতে তারা হতচকিত হয়ে উঠবে।
So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror).
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.
সেদিন তাদের চক্রান্ত তাদের কোনো কাজেই আসবেনা এবং সেদিন তাদের কোনো সাহায্যও করা হবেনা।
The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell).
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.
যালিমদের জন্যে এছাড়াও আরো আযাব রয়েছে। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোকই জানেনা।
And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this; but most of them know not. (Tafsir At-Tabari).
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise.
তুমি তোমার প্রভুর নির্দেশের অপেক্ষায় সবর অবলম্বন করো। তুমি আমাদের দৃষ্টি পথেই রয়েছো। আর তোমার প্রভুর হামদসহ তাঁর তসবিহ করতে থাকো যখন শয্যা ত্যাগ করে উঠবে
So wait patiently (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes ; and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep.
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.
এবং রাত্রিবেলায়, আর তাঁর তসবিহ করতে থাকো তারকারাজির অস্তগমনের পর।
And in the nighttime also glorify His Praises - and at the setting of the stars.
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
