When the sky has split [open]
Yusuf Ali
When the sky is rent asunder,
Arabic, with marks
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انشَقَّتْ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
যখন আকাশ বিদীর্ণ হইবে,

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ
Saheeh International
And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]
Yusuf Ali
And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so); -

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
ও তাহার প্রতিপালকের আদেশ পালন করিবে এবং ইহাই তাহার করণীয়।

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
Saheeh International
And when the earth has been extended
Yusuf Ali
And when the earth is flattened out,

وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং পৃথিবীকে যখন সম্প্রসারিত করা হইবে।

وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
Saheeh International
And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]
Yusuf Ali
And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty,

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
ও পৃথিবী তাহার অভ্যন্তরে যাহা আছে তাহা বাহিরে নিক্ষেপ করিবে ও শূন্যগর্ভ হইবে।

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
Saheeh International
And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -
Yusuf Ali
And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, - and it must needs (do so); - (then will come Home the full reality).

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং তাহার প্রতিপালকের আদেশ পালন করিবে, ইহাই তাহার করণীয়; তখন তোমরা পুনরুত্থিত হইবেই।

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
Saheeh International
O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.
Yusuf Ali
O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord - painfully toiling, - but thou shalt meet Him.

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
হে মানুষ! তুমি তোমার প্রতিপালকের নিকট পৌঁছা পর্যন্ত কঠোর সাধনা করিয়া থাক, পরে তুমি তাঁহার সাক্ষাৎ লাভ করিবে।

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
Saheeh International
Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
Yusuf Ali
Then he who is given his Record in his right hand,
Arabic, with marks
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
যাহাকে তাহার ‘আমলনামা তাহার দক্ষিণ হস্তে দেওয়া হইবে

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
Saheeh International
He will be judged with an easy account
Yusuf Ali
Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
তাহার হিসাব - নিকাশ সহজেই লওয়া হইবে
Word by word
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
Saheeh International
And return to his people in happiness.
Yusuf Ali
And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং সে তাহার স্বজনদের নিকট প্রফুল্লচিত্তে ফিরিয়া যাইবে;

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
Saheeh International
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
Yusuf Ali
But he who is given his Record behind his back, -
Arabic, with marks
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং যাহাকে তাহার ‘আমলনামা তাহার পৃষ্ঠের পশ্চাৎদিক হইতে দেওয়া হইবে

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ
Saheeh International
He will cry out for destruction
Yusuf Ali
Soon will he cry for perdition,

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
সে অবশ্য তাহার ধ্বংস আহ্বান করিবে;

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا
Saheeh International
And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
Yusuf Ali
And he will enter a Blazing Fire.

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং জ্বলন্ত অগ্নিতে প্রবেশ করিবে;
Word by word
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
Saheeh International
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
Yusuf Ali
Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!

إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
সে তো তাহার স্বজনদের মধ্যে আনন্দে ছিল,

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
Saheeh International
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].
Yusuf Ali
Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!
Arabic, with marks
إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
সে তো ভাবিত যে, সে কখনই ফিরিয়া যাইবে না;
Word by word
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
Saheeh International
But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.
Yusuf Ali
Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!

بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
নিশ্চয়ই ফিরিয়া যাইবে; তাহার প্রতিপালক তাহার উপর সবিশেষ দৃষ্টি রাখেন।

بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا
Saheeh International
So I swear by the twilight glow
Yusuf Ali
So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
আমি শপথ করি অস্তরাগের,
Word by word
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
Saheeh International
And [by] the night and what it envelops
Yusuf Ali
The Night and its Homing;
Arabic, with marks
وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং রাত্রির আর উহা যাহা কিছুর সমাবেশ ঘটায় তাহার,

وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
Saheeh International
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
Yusuf Ali
And the Moon in her fullness:
Arabic, with marks
وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং শপথ চন্দ্রের, যখন ইহা পূর্ণ হয়;
Word by word
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
Saheeh International
[That] you will surely experience state after state.
Yusuf Ali
Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
নিশ্চয় তোমরা ধাপে ধাপে আরোহণ করিবে।

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
Saheeh International
So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,
Yusuf Ali
What then is the matter with them, that they believe not? -
Arabic, with marks
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
সুতরাং উহাদের কি হইল যে, উহারা ঈমান আনে না

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Saheeh International
And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?
Yusuf Ali
And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং উহাদের নিকট কুরআন পাঠ করা হইলে উহারা সিজ্দা করে না?

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ
Saheeh International
But those who have disbelieved deny,
Yusuf Ali
But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
পরন্তু কাফিরগণ উহাকে অস্বীকার করে।
Word by word
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ
Saheeh International
And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.
Yusuf Ali
But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts)
Arabic, with marks
وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
এবং উহারা যাহা পোষণ করে তাহা সবিশেষ অবগত।

وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
Saheeh International
So give them tidings of a painful punishment,
Yusuf Ali
So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
সুতরাং উহাদেরকে মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তির সংবাদ দাও;
Word by word
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Saheeh International
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
Yusuf Ali
Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail.
Arabic, with marks
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ
ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন
কিন্তু যাহারা ঈমান আনে ও সৎকর্ম করে তাহাদের জন্য রহিয়াছে নিরবচ্ছিন্ন পুরস্কার।

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ
