Yusuf Ali

(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

Pickthall

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. He frowned and turned away

Deutsch

Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,

Yusuf Ali

Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

Pickthall

Because the blind man came unto him.

Deutsch

weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.

Yusuf Ali

But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -

Pickthall

What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)

Deutsch

Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich

Yusuf Ali

Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?

Pickthall

Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him ?

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,

Pickthall

As for him who thinketh himself independent,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

To him dost thou attend;

Pickthall

Unto him thou payest regard.

Deutsch

so widmest du dich ihm,

Yusuf Ali

Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).

Pickthall

Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,

Pickthall

But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

And with fear (in his heart),

Pickthall

And hath fear,

Deutsch

und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,

Yusuf Ali

Of him wast thou unmindful.

Pickthall

From him thou art distracted.

Deutsch

von dem läßt du dich ablenken.

Yusuf Ali

By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:

Pickthall

Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment,

Deutsch

Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.

Yusuf Ali

Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.

Pickthall

So let whosoever will pay heed to it,

Deutsch

Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.

Yusuf Ali

(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,

Pickthall

On honoured leaves

Deutsch

(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,

Yusuf Ali

Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,

Pickthall

Exalted, purified,

Deutsch

erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,

Yusuf Ali

(Written) by the hands of scribes -

Pickthall

(Set down) by scribes

Deutsch

durch die Hände von Entsandten,

Yusuf Ali

Honourable and Pious and Just.

Pickthall

Noble and righteous.

Deutsch

edlen, frommen.

Yusuf Ali

Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;

Pickthall

Man is (self - )destroyed: how ungrateful!

Deutsch

Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!

Yusuf Ali

From what stuff hath He created him?

Pickthall

From what thing doth He create him ?

Deutsch

Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?

Yusuf Ali

From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;

Pickthall

From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Then doth He make His path smooth for him;

Pickthall

Then maketh the way easy for him,

Deutsch

Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.

Yusuf Ali

Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;

Pickthall

Then causeth him to die, and burieth him;

Deutsch

Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.

Yusuf Ali

Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).

Pickthall

Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life.

Deutsch

Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.

Yusuf Ali

By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.

Pickthall

Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him.

Deutsch

Keineswegs!

Yusuf Ali

Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):

Pickthall

Let man consider his food:

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

For that We pour forth water in abundance,

Pickthall

How We pour water in showers

Deutsch

Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,

Yusuf Ali

And We split the earth in fragments,

Pickthall

Then split the earth in clefts

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

And produce therein corn,

Pickthall

And cause the grain to grow therein

Deutsch

und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen

Yusuf Ali

And Grapes and nutritious plants,

Pickthall

And grapes and green fodder

Deutsch

und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug

Yusuf Ali

And Olives and Dates,

Pickthall

And olive - trees and palm - trees

Deutsch

und Ölbäume und Palmen

Yusuf Ali

And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,

Pickthall

And garden - closes of thick foliage

Deutsch

und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen

Yusuf Ali

And fruits and fodder, -

Pickthall

And fruits and grasses:

Deutsch

und Früchte und Futter,

Yusuf Ali

For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

Pickthall

Provision for you and your cattle.

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -

Pickthall

But when the Shout cometh

Deutsch

Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,

Yusuf Ali

That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,

Pickthall

On the day when a man fleeth from his brother

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

And from his mother and his father,

Pickthall

And his mother and his father

Deutsch

und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater

Yusuf Ali

And from his wife and his children.

Pickthall

And his wife and his children,

Deutsch

und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen

Yusuf Ali

Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.

Pickthall

Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Some faces that Day will be beaming,

Pickthall

On that day faces will be bright as dawn,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Laughing, rejoicing.

Pickthall

Laughing, rejoicing at good news;

Deutsch

lachen und sich freuen.

Yusuf Ali

And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,

Pickthall

And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them,

Deutsch

Yusuf Ali

Blackness will cover them:

Pickthall

Veiled in darkness,

Deutsch

und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.

Yusuf Ali

Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.

Pickthall

Those are the disbelievers, the wicked.

Deutsch

Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
