(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
Chapter 80, 42 verses
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
He frowned and turned (his) back,
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
Because there came to him the blind man.
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -
And what would make you know that he would purify himself,
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?
As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,
As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),
To him dost thou attend;
To him do you address yourself.
so widmest du dich ihm,
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
And as to him who comes to you striving hard,
And with fear (in his heart),
And he fears,
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
Of him wast thou unmindful.
From him will you divert yourself.
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
Nay! surely it is an admonishment.
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
So let him who pleases mind it.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
In honored books,
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
Exalted, purified,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
(Written) by the hands of scribes -
In the hands of scribes
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
Honourable and Pious and Just.
Noble, virtuous.
edlen, frommen.
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
From what stuff hath He created him?
Of what thing did He create him?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.
Keineswegs!
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
Then let man look to his food,
For that We pour forth water in abundance,
That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
And We split the earth in fragments,
Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,
And produce therein corn,
Then We cause to grow therein the grain,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And Grapes and nutritious plants,
And grapes and clover,
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And Olives and Dates,
And the olive and the palm,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
And thick gardens,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And fruits and fodder, -
And fruits and herbage
und Früchte und Futter,
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
A provision for you and for your cattle.
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -
But when the deafening cry comes,
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,
And from his mother and his father,
And his mother and his father,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And from his wife and his children.
And his spouse and his son - -
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.
Some faces that Day will be beaming,
(Many) faces on that day shall be bright,
Laughing, rejoicing.
Laughing, joyous.
lachen und sich freuen.
And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,
And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,
Blackness will cover them:
Darkness shall cover them.
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
