Chapter 71, 28 verses
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty."
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement.
আমরা নূহকে পাঠিয়েছিলাম তার কওমের কাছে (এই নির্দেশ দিয়ে) যে, তোমার কওমকে সতর্ক করো তাদের প্রতি বেদনাদায়ক আযাব আসার আগেই।
He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open:
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you:
সে (তাদের) বলেছিল: ‘‘হে আমার কওম! আমি তোমাদের জন্যে একজন সুস্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী!
"That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me:
أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me:
তোমরা এক আল্লাহর ইবাদত করো, তাঁকে ভয় করো (তাঁর প্রতি কর্তব্যপরায়ণ হও) আর আমার আনুগত্য করো।
"So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew."
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know!
তাহলে তিনি ক্ষমা করে দেবেন তোমাদের পাপসমূহ এবং তোমাদের অবকাশ দেবেন একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময় পর্যন্ত। জেনে রাখো, আল্লাহর নির্ধারিত সময় এসে পড়লে তা আর দেরি করা হয়না, যদি তোমরা জানতে!’’
He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day:
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا
He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day!
নূহ তার প্রভুর কাছে বলেছিল: ‘‘আমার প্রভু! আমি আমার কওমকে দাওয়াত দিয়েছি রাতদিন।
"But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right).
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا
But my call has only made them flee the more:
আমার দাওয়াত তাদের কেবল পলায়নই বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে।
"And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance.
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا
And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride:
আমি যখনই তাদের দাওয়াত দিয়েছি যেনো তুমি তাদের ক্ষমা করে দাও, তারা কানে আংগুল দিয়েছে, নিজেদের ঢেকে নিয়েছে কাপড় দিয়ে, তারা অনবরত জিদ ধরেছে এবং প্রকাশ করেছে অতিশয় দাম্ভিকতা।
"So I have called to them aloud;
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا
Then surely I called to them aloud:
তারপর আমি তাদের প্রকাশ্যে দাওয়াত দিয়েছি,
"Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private,
ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا
Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret:
অতপর তাদের এলান (ঘোষণা) করে ডেকেছি এবং গোপনে গোপনে উপদেশ দিয়েছি।
"Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft - Forgiving;
فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving:
আমি তাদের বলেছি: তোমরা তোমাদের প্রভুর কাছে মাগফিরাত প্রার্থনা করো, নিশ্চয়ই তিনি মহান ক্ষমাশীল।
"'He will send rain to you in abundance;
يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا
He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain:
তিনি তোমাদের জন্যে আকাশ থেকে বর্ষণ করবেন প্রচুর বৃষ্টি।
"'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water).
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا
And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers.
তিনি তোমাদের মদদ করবেন মাল - সম্পদ ও সন্তান সন্ততি দিয়ে এবং তোমাদের জন্যে সৃষ্টি করে দেবেন বাগ বাগিচা ও নদনদী।’’
"'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long - suffering in Allah, -
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah?
তোমাদের হলোটা কি, তোমরা আল্লাহর জন্যে কোনো মর্যাদাই স্বীকার করছোনা?
"'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages?
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
And indeed He has created you through various grades:
অথচ তিনি তোমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন স্তরে স্তরে।
"'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا
Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another,
তোমরা কি ভেবে দেখোনা, কিভাবে স্তরে স্তরে সৃষ্টি করেছেন সপ্তাকাশ?
"'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp?
وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا
And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp?
তাতে চাঁদকে রেখে দিয়েছেন আলো হিসেবে আর সূর্যকে রেখে দিয়েছেন আলোদানকারী প্রদীপ হিসেবে।
"'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually),
وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا
And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth:
তোমাদের সৃষ্টির সূচনা করেছেন মাটি থেকে।
"'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)?
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا
Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth:
তারপর তিনি তোমাদের তাতেই (মাটিতেই) ফিরিয়ে নেবেন এবং সেখান থেকে আবার বের করে আনবেন।
"'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out),
وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا
And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse,
আল্লাহ্ই তোমাদের জন্যে বিছিয়ে দিয়েছেন পৃথিবীকে।
"'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'"
لِّتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا
That you may go along therein in wide paths.
যাতে করে তোমরা তাতে চলাফেরা করতে পারো প্রশস্ত পথে।
Noah said: "O my Lord! They have disobeyed me, but they follow (men) whose wealth and children give them no increase but only Loss.
قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
Nuh said: My Lord! surely they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children have added to him nothing but loss.
নূহ আরো বলেছিল: ‘আমার প্রভু! তারা (আমার কওম) আমাকে অমান্য করেছে আর অনুসরণ করেছে এমন লোকদের যাদের মাল সম্পদ এবং আওলাদ ফরজন্দ তাদের ক্ষতি ছাড়া আর কিছুই বাড়ায়নি।’
"And they have devised a tremendous Plot.
وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا
And they have planned a very great plan.
তারা এঁটেছিল এক জঘন্য ষড়যন্ত্র।
"And they have said (to each other), 'Abandon not your gods: Abandon neither Wadd nor Suwa', neither Yaguth nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr'; -
وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا
And they say: By no means leave your gods, nor leave Wadd, nor Suwa; nor Yaghus, and Yauq and Nasr.
তারা বলেছিল: তোমরা (নূহের কথায়) কখনো তোমাদের ইলাহ্দের (দেব দেবীদের) ত্যাগ করোনা। তোমরা ত্যাগ করোনা ওয়াদ্দা, সুয়াআ, ইয়াগুছ এবং নস্রকে।
"They have already misled many; and grant Thou no increase to the wrong - doers but in straying (from their mark)."
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا
And indeed they have led astray many, and do not increase the unjust in aught but error.
(নূহ বলেছিল:) ‘প্রভু! তারা অনেক মানুষকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেছে। তুমি এই যালিমদেরকে গোমরাহি ছাড়া আর কিছুই বাড়িয়ে দিয়োনা।’
Because of their sins they were drowned (in the flood), and were made to enter the Fire (of Punishment): and they found - in lieu of Allah - none to help them.
مِّمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا
Because of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter fire, so they did not find any helpers besides Allah.
তাদের অপরাধের জন্যে তাদের ডুবিয়ে দেয়া হলো পানিতে, অতপর তাদের দাখিল করা হবে জাহান্নামে। তারা আল্লাহকে ছাড়া আর কাউকে সাহায্যকারী পাবেনা।
And Noah, said: "O my Lord! Leave not of the Unbelievers, a single one on earth!
وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
And Nuh said: My Lord! leave not upon the land any dweller from among the unbelievers:
নূহ বলেছিল: ‘‘আমার প্রভু! এদেশে কাফিরদের কোনো ঘরবাসীকে তুমি ছেড়ে দিয়োনা।
"For, if Thou dost leave (any of) them, they will but mislead Thy devotees, and they will breed none but wicked ungrateful ones.
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا
For surely if Thou leave them they will lead astray Thy servants, and will not beget any but immoral, ungrateful (children)
তুমি যদি তাদের রক্ষা করো, তারা তোমার বান্দাদের গোমরাহ্ করতে থাকবে এবং দুষ্কৃতকারী কাফিরই জন্ম দিতে থাকবে।
"O my Lord! Forgive me, my parents, all who enter my house in Faith, and (all) believing men and believing women: and to the wrong - doers grant Thou no increase but in perdition!"
رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا
My Lord! forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house believing, and the believing men and the believing women; and do not increase the unjust in aught but destruction!
আমার প্রভু! তুমি ক্ষমা করে দাও আমাকে, আমার বাবা - মাকে আর হয়ে যারা আমার ঘরে প্রবেশ করবে তাদেরকে এবং সব পুরুষ ও নারীকে। যালিমদের তুমি ধ্বংস ছাড়া আর কিছু বাড়িয়ে দিয়োনা।’’
